I just noticed that I posted that the oldest two were 6. They were 16 this winter. I suspect your figured that out. LOL

I am going to the store in a few minutes to pick up my groceries that I ordered for me and my mom and dad.

I will be taking them to mom and dad, so I will see them for a minute.

It is dreary here today, but that's ok, the sun will show up soon, I HOPE!

All is well

Yesterday I cleaned my kitchen, wiped down the cabinets a bit and swept and mopped the kitchen floor.

That was my exercise for yesterday. When I ride my bike, I don't usually have enough energy left to do housework. LOL

I will ride this afternoon for a bit.

I am eating pretty well, and not doing any binge eating. That is an accomplishment for me during stressful times.

I am feeling pretty good about that. I looked back and saw that I have been staying at 283 since January 31.

Plateau city. LOL The scale was saying between 283 and 287 most of the time.

Today I hit 282.2, so there is some movement. That is encouraging.

I have lost 47 pounds since last year in January. The really good thing is that I have not gone up and down.

I lost 20 pounds and then no more until Sept 2019. So, I am on a good trajectory.

Hope you had a good day yesterday.

Have another good one today! God Bless.

Good morning!

Yes, children are a joy. I had three children and we were always busy going here and there. Now that I am older I can enjoy the grandchildren much more because things aren't as hectic but I wish I had taken more time with my own to play and do more. I guess that what grandchildren and nieces are for, right? Spending time with them just takes my mind off of adult issues and helps me enjoy the little things.

Hope you are feeling well and staying healthy. I actually got some steps in yesterday. I played some music and took a few breaks from work to walk and run in place...and dance a little! LOL

Have a great Tuesday!

I agree, having contact is helpful. That is sweet that your granddaughter read a book to you.

Such an important skill, reading, and a great connection to one another.

I retired 16 years ago to babysit for my twin nieces. They had their first children within a few months of each other, and the second two are about 6 months apart. Reading to them was always such a joy.

Of course, we don't get the cuddle time right now, but still a great comfort.

The oldest two turned 16 this winter, the youngest 13 in July and Dec. They are amazing humans, and I am so glad that I made the choice to be with them.

I miss them right now a lot.

Have a lovely day. I am pretty good.

God Bless.

Bonnie,

Glad to hear you had a better day and got to visit. I did some face time with children and grandchildren. My seven y/o granddaughter read me a book over face time. It was so sweet.

It is so important we stay connected with others and yes we will get through this!

Have a great Monday!

Good Morning.

I had a pretty good day yesterday. Rode my stationary bike, took my shower, and met my friend Amy at the park.

We say in our cars with the windows down and visited. Social distancing at it's best. LOL

We may do that again today, if we can figure out anything to say to each other.

Feeling pretty good this morning.

The sun is out, but it is very windy. Living here near Lake Erie, we have a lot of wind. Even though I am used to it, I don't like it much. I find it somewhat unsettling.

It is worse in the winter though, when it might be accompanied by rain or snow.

It will be a good day though.

I guess we are all adapting.

God Bless all. Enjoy your day.

Good morning!

I was pretty lazy yesterday so didn't get much done. Did plan out my meals for this week and all groceries are bought.

Today is church online and hope to get a closet or two cleaned out.

Have a great Sunday!

Slept well last night. It seems I have been sleeping pretty well throughout most of this. In fact, I am sleeping long nights.

Guess it gives me something to do.

I am ok this morning. Not very motivated to do much. It is dreary and dark.

I will figure it out. LOL

Wishing all of you a great day. God Bless.

Good morning!

Bonnie,

I do miss dining out a little but am really eating a lot at home. Definitely need to watch my portion control. We have Chiliís and Longhorn and Lone Star. I havenít heard of Max and Ermaís.My "go to" is a Mexican restaurant called Speedy's. The best taco's and enchiladas!

Sorry you had a bad day. We have those at times but, luckily, they donít last. Glad you did have a better day today and the meal you cooked sounds yummy!

Yes, we have to be careful about going around anyone. We just donít know. I am glad she understood. You are so good to help others by taking them groceries.

I ordered from Publix and CVS and Walmart yesterday. CVS actually delivered toilet paper to me so I am SO HAPPY! LOL

Helen,

I understand about worrying about our adult children. I do as well. I know they are staying safe but sometimes they want to just get out of the house. My daughter tells me that tooÖthat I am too old to go outside and take a chance. I am 59 but I donít disagree with her. I am more cautious about going out because my 89 y/o mom is here and I donít want to bring in any germs.

Have a great Saturday!

Frances

I meant to say WELCOME to you too! So, WELCOME!

I had a much better day today. I took my friend, Diana, her groceries. They did not give her any bread. So, I came home and got a loaf out of the freezer, and took it back to her on my way to the park.

When I came home from reading at the park, I put some boneless skinless chicken thighs, in the oven to cook, and fixed some green beans, onions and red potatoes in a pan on top of the stove to cook. Then I went out on the enclosed front porch and road my stationary bike for an hour.

When I cam in, I pot two sweet potatoes in the microwave and took my shower.

Dinner is now ready. I will eat in a little bit, and my roommate Trish can eat whenever she gets home from work.

I am much better today. I think getting out was important and then riding my bike.

God Bless all. Have a nice evening.

Thank you for the welcome, Frances. Yes, it was great to so see our granddaughters and daughter on the video chat. Our other daughter works in the medical field as a risk manager. She has been working from home, but way too many hours. I worry about her because she lives alone and there is no one to support her at home. We do speak to her over the phone and we don't live far away. We could stop by, but she wants us to stay home because we're old (70's) although, we don't have any health problems. emoticon to all!

Glad you are able to work from home.

I have not eaten out in almost 2 weeks. I haven't even ordered out or gotten fast food. This is some kind of a record for me. LOL

I generally try to go to local restaurants, and I do eat out a lot. On occasion I like to go to Max and Erma's, Chili's, and Longhorn, and and Lone Star Steakhouse if I am going to a chain.

Do you have any of those restaurants in your area?

Yesterday ended up being a bad day for me. I don't think it was because I didn't ride my bike, but I will ride today. It does help.

I just had a bad day. I think all of this just hit me hard. I am ok today, so far.

I am going to pick up a clicklist order at Kroger for my friend who is no longer able to drive because of her eyesight. She asked me to take her to the dollar store, and I told her I do not want her in my car. She understood.

I am just being that careful. I feel that we all have an obligation to be.

Take care of yourselves. Have a good day as best you can.

God Bless

Good morning!

It's already Friday again. Week two of working from home is almost over. I am getting used to it but not sure if I would want to do it every day.

Cooking more which is good but missing my favorite restaurants.

Where do y'all go to eat out in your area?

Have a great day.

I am kind of late to the party this afternoon.

Not quite in my routine. I am not going to ride my stationary bike today, so my routine is off. LOL I have been sitting out on the back deck reading for part of the day.

Yesterday I went to mom and dad's house and mom and I sat in the driveway in the sun. Mom took a bit of a walk. Dad had gone fishing and he called and told us that he was having a good time catching fish.

So, a good day.

I guess today is just going to be a lazy one. That's ok.

Wishing you both a great rest of today and a lovely tomorrow

Good morning and welcome Helen! Hope your chat with your family lifts your spirits! It is a trying time and we need to reach out to others more to stay connected. I am so glad you are here and looking forward to learning more about you!

Good morning, Bonnie! What a kind thing to do to share what you had with that man. I am hearing a lot about people reaching out to others and it makes me smile. It is a tough time but I know our giving hearts and brilliant minds will get us through it.

I have interviews today via Skype so will be tied up with that all day. I had a surprise visit from my youngest daughter yesterday with her two boys. And she is expecting another child in November..she just found out. We are excited. That will be grandbaby #7 for me!

Have a great Thursday and stay safe!

I had purchased a 30 roll pack of TP about a week before the world lost it's mind. I have not had to get into that yet, but will soon. I have always been a hoarder of TP. But, don't want to take it from others. I had actually purchased 3 four packs that I had in the trunk of my car. Gave two to my mom and dad.

Went to the store the other day and they were out of TP. This older man asked the clerk about it. I asked him if he was out of TP. He said yes. So I told him to meet me in the parking lot after we checked out, and gave him the 4 pack left in my trunk. He wanted to pay me, but I said, please just let me do something for someone. I have such a helpless feeling. I think I felt better about it than he did. Sigh

This is a tough time.

Glad your weight is holding steady, I am hoping to be able to do that too. I am down just a little bit, and doing ok with my eating, but trying to be mindful.

HELEN

I, too, am retired. I don't have to worry about getting to work or working at home, and am glad of that.

Just trying to stay busy at home as best I can, and only doing what is necessary going out.

I do go to the local Metropark here in Toledo, Ohio about every day, and sit in my car and read. Not getting out.

That is something I have always done, so it is a bit of normalcy that does not put me at risk.

Glad you are able to talk to your family and will get to "see" them today.

God Bless all.

Have a great day.

Good morning!

It's funny you mention about ordering items to be delivered. I have been doing that for over a week now and things are really scarce so when they replace one brand for another that is out, I am just glad to get what I get.One store only found three of the eight items I needed.

All the hype about toilet paper and we are down to three rolls. I am going to have to get out this weekend and get some. May go early so I can be sure to get enough. Not sure how long this is going to last.

I weighed this morning and weigh the same as last week which is a miracle because I haven't ate as well as I should have. I have been eating fruit daily so maybe that has help. I still need to lose about 10-15 pounds and get active again daily!

Have a good day!

Yes I look forward to our chats each morning.

Glad you got out. It is very dreary here, hopefully will have sun tomorrow, but I am trying to get out of the house once a day.

I did not ride my stationary bike yesterday. I decided I was tired and needed a day off. I slept well last night, so that was good.

I am going to ride in just a little while. I am so grateful that I have a form of exercise I can do at home. Most of my life, I have used a gym or the Y for exercise, so this is a great time for me.

I have placed an order with the local Kroger store for a pick up for this afternoon. I didn't really NEED stuff. I guess I felt a need for some normalcy. It will be interesting to see what I actually get.

Have a great day. God Bless

Good morning!!

I agree...we need more to join with us...but am enjoying chatting with you as well! :)

I worked most of yesterday but got out in between the rain. Work is busy and it seems busier when I am working from home. But so glad to have a job during these times.

I want to do more to give back to others and have been thinking about it. So many people doing good things right now. So grateful for them.

Have a good Tuesday!

Still cold here today and dreary. Seems like the weather does not want to warm up yet. I guess it snowed some last night, I didn't look. LOL None on the ground this morning.

I am doing ok. Trying to keep a bit of a routine. I have been riding my stationary bike every day. I certainly don't have any time constraints, and it seems to be helping with the stress

Hope you can get a walk in today.

Sorry about your granddaughter. I know it had to be difficult to not let he come over, but we all have to be careful.

God Bless and have a good day today.

Good plans! I know they will be glad to see you.

My 7 y/o granddaughter wanted to spend the night with me this weekend but I couldn't take a chance since my mom is here so we just face timed and talked for about 30 minutes.

I am going to go out during lunch and walk a bit unless it is raining. I think it is suppose to rain some today.

Take care!

Yes, slowing down is not always a bad thing. Hoping that this enforced time alone will be helpful for all of us.

Glad your children are doing well.

It is still cold here today, but think it is to warm up a bit this week, we will see, and I am planning on going to my mom and dad's and have them sit in lawn chairs and I will sit away from them, and we can visit. LOL

Trying to be inventive.

Stay well

My niece Christy called me yesterday while I was riding my bike. We talked for quite a while and I rode while we were talking. She didn't mind I was breathing a little hard. LOL My great niece Gracee, also talked to me a bit. I rode for 53 minutes. It was an extra day, so that was a good amount of time.

Today, it is pretty cold here. But it is to get warmed in a couple of days. I will enjoy getting out on my back deck and reading in the sun in the afternoons in a few days.

I have aspirations of doing something productive during this time, but we will see. LOL

Enjoy your day.

God Bless and stay well

Bonnie

Bonnie,

I worked from home again yesterday but did order two deliveries which will come today. Mostly groceries for next week. Some things are hard to find online but I got what we need.

Today, I will be cleaning out clutter (or will start to) and getting rid of clothes I no longer wear. If I am stuck in this house I may as well do some spring cleaning.

Have a great Saturday!

I am just now getting out of my chair to ride my bike. Your message was a good reminder, been a bit lazy this morning.

Went to the store to buy some bread, and that is all I have done today. I heard one of the store workers say that their delivery today was delayed. Hoping that they do get it.

Enjoy whatever you decide to do today.

Good morning!

They say exercise does help us rest better. Being home all week has kept me from going to the gym but I am going to find some things on Spark to do that will build muscle and get me moving.

Have a great Friday!

I find that my stationary bike works wonders for me with the stress. I did not ride yesterday, and I think that is why I had some emotional time last evening and had trouble sleeping last night..

I slept from 7am to 12 noon, and I am good today. Rode my bike for 72 minutes and that really helped Had my shower and now back here.

I will probably take a ride a bit later in the car.

When I could not sleep about 5 am, I got up and wrote in a journal. Just random thoughts. I think that helped me to finally get to sleep. It is good that I am retired so didn't have to go anywhere.

Have a good evening. God BLess.

Do y'all practice gratitude daily or mindfulness (the new way to breathe and renew your thoughts)? If not, what do you do to relax and not stress?

I know that I did have anxiety when I was younger, can't really remember when I didn't have it. I just coped as best I could.

But there does seem to be something different about this later in life brand. I think it might be because when I was younger, I had a lot more confidence. I am working on that, but I just seem to be much less confident these days.

I suppose because I haven't worked a job since 2004 when I retired, that I don't feel as involved with the world. Just not sure.

We will do the best we can, and call it good.

I have had my stationary bike for about 4 or 5 years, and was very glad that I had it when I decided to look for an exercise last June. I was happy to find that I can ride my stationary bike without much pain in my back, and it is really building strength in my legs.

I have a friend who is a massage therapist, and I had not gone to her for at least a year when I had an appointment about 6 weeks ago. She was very pleased with the changes in my body because of riding the bike.

Hope today finds you well. Enjoy your day.

God Bless

Glad you understand about anxiety. I wonder if that comes with getting older? I never ever used to be anxious. It just hit me a few years ago...and it comes and goes. But I do have meds to take when it comes.

I need to get a bike or treadmill for the house when I can't get out. Just haven't taken that plunge yet.

Hope you have a great Wednesday!

I totally get the anxiety issue and eating. That has been a huge part of my weight problem most of my life.

Fortunately, since I started to ride my stationary bike last June, I have found that it helps so much with the anxiety. I think realizing this has kept me more constant

I still have to make myself get on, but once I get going, I realize how much better I feel.

I can still overindulge, but I seem to be better about it. I think it is possible that my metabolism has gone up as a result as well.

My BP became an issue for he first time about a year ago. My Dr has decided that my anxiety is part of the problem She has me on a pill for that too

I seem to be better.

Life can be interesting.

Take care and God Bless

Good morning!

Yes, we do have to adapt. I am a creature of order and routine. LOL So I am creating a new plan for my stay-at-home days and that seems to help me.

I get anxious sometimes so I just have to remind myself why we are doing this and it is all precautionary. With anxiety comes eating more so I am trying to control that as well.

Got out a few time yesterday to walk a little.

Have a great Tuesday!

Good luck with the new experience of working from home. Hope it goes smoothly. Yes, I think it is a good idea. Especially since your mom lives with you.

My mom is 92 and my dad will be 94 the end of April. I am trying to keep my dad out of the stores etc. He walks a mile every day, and if the weather is bad he does so in the store. He has his routines, and we are trying to change them a bit for now.

Mom is more willing to stay home, so that is easier. The weather is better, and dad can go fishing so that will help.

All restaurants and bars are closed in Ohio as of 9pm last night. Restaurants are open for carry out and delivery.

We are all having to adapt.

Good luck to all of us.

Happy Monday

Good morning!

Working from home this week and maybe next week. New thing for me but better to be safe and well than take a chance. My 89 y/o mom lives with me and I sure don't want to bring anything home that would endanger her health.

Is anyone else making any changes in routine due to the corona virus?

Good morning!

Alabama is closing down schools starting Wednesday. Many other activities have been stopped for a bit as well. We may have to work from home as I work in a large building with thousands of people but haven't heard yet.

Praying this will deter numerous outbreaks and warmer weather will help rid this from our world!

Looks like I am a bit behind. Hope you have a great Friday and a really good weekend.

The play I have been working on has been postponed, as has just about everything else. The governor or Ohio has closed schools for 3 weeks. I am praying that this will help stem the flow of illness.

Keep well

So glad it is Friday. We have so much to be grateful for despite what we hear in this world. God is good and will always be with us, for us and in us. Our faith and trust should be in Him and not this world.

Good morning!

That is great you have parks nearby. We have some but they are a good drive from where I live. However, I will make a plan to go there and spend some time outside. Yesterday it was 70 degrees out and very nice. But I was inside working all day. If we don't have rain on Saturday or Sunday, I will grab a book and go to the park.

Have a great Tuesday!

Hope you are having a nice day at work.

I live in Toledo, Ohio, and we have an amazing metropark system with most parks quite easy to get to. My favorite is Wildwood. I have always loved to walk, and that was my go to place for walking for many years.

However, since my back is too bad to walk anymore, I can still enjoy being there and the peace and good feelings that I have always had, just sitting in the car in the sun. When it is a bit warmer weather, I will take my lawn chair and sit outside. There are also benches which are close to parking, so I can sit on a bench, and read, then walk to another bench, and read, and so on. I even get a bit of a walk in that way.

We are very fortunate.

Wishing you both a great day.

We did have a nice dinner together on Friday night.

Yesterday, I spent a lot of time at the park in the sun, reading my book.

I slept really well last night. I usually can't sleep well on the time change night, but I guess the secret this year was I was sleeping poorly the whole week before.

My friend Joyce picked me up and we went to breakfast this morning, and then took a drive around in the country just looking about. Beautiful sunny day.

I will probably end up back at the park with my book again this afternoon. The sun is such a good friend. LOL

Glad you had fun with the kids.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

Good morning!

The boys were fun! My oldest granddaughter stayed last night. She is 7 and used to live with me so it is always fun having her over. We are going to church this morning.

That is great your parents are doing good! My mom will be 90 in April and lives with me. She does good on her own but canít afford a place of her own.

We finally have some sunshine but rain is coming again this week.

Hope your dinner was good with your parents! Have a great Sunday!

Sounds like fun to have the 2 children spend the night. They are so much fun at that age.

I slept a lot last night, but not all at once. LOL I am better rested today, though, so maybe tonight I will be able to sleep the night through.

Going to dinner with my mom and dad tonight. Mom is 92, and Dad is 93, he will be 94 the end of April. I am very fortunate to have them still and they are in relatively good condition and are able to live on their own.

Not too much else today.

Dennis is supposed to come some time this afternoon and work on the new bathroom floor a bit. He may have gotten held up at his earlier job as he was supposed to be bere a little while ago, but that is how it goes with handy men!

Cold and dreary and windy here, but looking forward to a much nicer weekend for weather.

Have a great weekend yourself.

Yes, I am sure that anxiety runs in my family as well. It is a constant battle.

I think I remember the Gazelle. Isn't it a stand on kind of thing?

I try to work my arms some as I am riding my stationary bike. However, I have to be pretty careful about arm exercises because of the pain and issues in my back. I try to go to the Y once a a week, or every other week, to work my arms more in the swimming pool I used to be a swimmer and a walker. Because of the issues in my spine, I am not able to do either of those activities much any more. I try to work my arms in the water as well as my legs and movement in my back.

I have had a 4 level fusion in my lumbar, which I am sure actually saved my life, but because of that surgery, and the other issues in my upper back, I have to be very careful. I am thrilled that riding my stationary bike has been so helpful to me, and because I can lean against the back, it is a recumbent, I do well.

Sigh, as we age, things do change. LOL

FRANCES

Glad things are going well for you at work.

Took my friend Diana to the grocery store, and I went in as well and walked around a bit. I can walk without as much pain, if I am holding onto a cart. It is a sunny day today, so we ran errands and had lunch. Pleasant.

I am going to lie down and try to nap a bit as I am going to the theater tonight to help out with the rehearsal for the play we will be opening up next Friday night.

I have not slept too well the last three nights. Not sure if I mentioned it or not, but I feel out of bed on Monday night. Really a crazy thing, but I was not able to get right back to sleep, so the last two nights have been a bit tough too. Fortunately, I did not injure myself badly, which I am grateful for.

Have a great rest of the day!

Elona, I would love to know more about your meditating. I have tried and am getting a little better at it!

Bonnie, glad your BP is down!!

I am getting more walking in and staying busy at work. Have opportunities to help more people at work and get more exposure so that is a blessing from God for sure.

Hope you have a great Thursday!

I have anxiety. It runs in my family. I need more activity and exercise than most. Iíve always been hyperactive. Itís like the chicken before the egg? Lol. No doubt itís genetic along with being having sensory super powers. I could use a bike with arms to give my arms exercise as well. I ought to look into getting the ďGazelleĒ. Remember when it first came out? Your body is the engine that drives it. Plus itís light as a feather?

Iím glad yourís works for you!

Wow, Great news all around for you. Congratulations!

I understand about the long recovery after a surgery, and how good it feels to be able to be active again.

Enjoy.

Good luck with your challenge.

I find that riding my stationary bike takes away quite a bit of my stress, which helps me to be able to eat better, and feel better

Have a great day tomorrow, girls!

Hi all! emoticon

I hope you all are beginning to thaw out! emoticon

It's already March! Yay! I am going swimming in a few days! I finally have docs clearance!
when I told my Zumba friends I was going swimming five of them said they want to join me. So, it will be more like a swim party. I still will get my laps in though. Lol.
This is a big deal for me because swimming is my passion. I going to start training for competition. It's so exciting I will begin again. I haven't been in the water since November. It's been a very long wait for me. At last, the time is here! emoticon

BONNIE & FRANCES:

It's super GREAT your BP's are coming down! Keep up the good work! emoticon

I got off BP meds last December. I admit, I cheated a little. Lol. I meditated 4-6 times a day. I had to because I was having surgery. It was coming down, but after I started meditating my pulse and BP dropped so low the nurses were concerned. I laughed at them and didn't tell them my secret. My docs were a little amazed. But understood. I am still meditating, but only 3 times a day. No medicine since December. I am very happy. BP 100/70 and heart rate 60-110 depending on activity. I certainly can't complain.

I failed my first attempt at the Tame Your Sweet Tooth Challenge. I'm starting it tonight. I must say, I've been pretty good about not eating sweets. I noticed the last 3 days I've been slipping. I had some ice cream today. It definitely was because it was right in front of me. I just wanted some fun. So back to the challenge. I think it's better I stay with it till it becomes a lifelong habit. I really don't need sweets and the more I eat them, the more I eat them! LOL.

Have a great night!

Good Morning.

My BP was down. It was 110/70 in my left arm and 130/80 in my right. Dr is good with that. Will go back in 3 months.

Have a great day

Rode my stationary bike, had my shower, now to rest a bit and get ready to go to the Dr. I am hoping that my BP is a bit lower than 140/80 this time. Hope the anxiety meds have helped the BP meds. LOL

Have a great day, girls!

Enjoy your day. We, too, have sunshine today, and I love it.

Went to breakfast with my roommate and then to the Post office.

I think I might go to the park and read in the sunshine sitting in the car. The snow is pretty through the windows. LOL

Have a lovely weekend and enjoy your parties and family.

Good morning!

Yes, the sun is good! We got to see it yesterday as well. So energizing! I believe we will have more sun today!

I am going to get out early to walk and do some weights. Got a lot of errands to run for my mom and my daughter. Celebrating two birthdays tomorrow! Glad to have a weekend where I get to visit with all my children and grandchildren!

Good Morning Frances!

I think I would like your weather a bit better than ours, but you take what you get . LOL

The snow is still on the ground here, but Sunday it will begin melting. I have enjoyed our relatively mild winter. It has been a break on my energy bills, and on my mood.

The sun is out today, even though it is to be about 28 degrees or so, but the sun is good.

Enjoy your day!

Good morning!

We rarely see snow here...but I am good with that. When I left for work yesterday it was 30 degrees and it went up to 50 degrees. That is about as cold as I could stand. I am ready for some 60-70 degree weather. Here in Alabama our weather is up and down all the time.

Have a great day!

Glad you made so much progress in the garage. I paid a young man to clean out my garage last summer, and that was helpful. I am sure there are some things I can get rid of yet, but we do seem to know what is in the garage better now. LOL

We had quite a bit of snow in the last two days, and Trish, my roommate just told me it is pretty cold out this morning. Windy, which always adds to the cold. But, this winter is so much milder with less snow and not nearly as cold as last, that I can take it. Yesterday was actually nice as it did not get much colder than about 32 degrees, but with the wind, the 20 something degrees from last night and today are making it colder and more slippery. I think the schools had a snow day today. Dalton said he does not want to go for a walk today

I may stay home and have a snow day myself today. LOL

Feeling pretty good today. I have sleeping issues. I have sleep Apnea, and sometimes I struggle to get enough sleep. But, the last few nights I have been sleeping pretty well. How I sleep makes a difference in my day.

Wishing you both a good day. Enjoy whatever you do.

Good to hear from you both! I did get 1/3 of the garage done but had to stop because my garbage can was full and so was my car (to donate some items). I will go at it again this weekend to rid another section. Small elephant bites...right?

So glad you are both doing great things helping others and being more mindful of how to stay healthy. I think it is important we encourage one another even when we don't talk face-to-face. We seem to have similar issues and can definitely relate to one another.

Have a great Thursday!!

I understand about having storage issues. I can be a "pack rat", but I am trying to be a "reformed pack rat:. LOL

I have lived in my home since 1983. It is a pretty large old house. I have 4 rooms and a kitchen and small bathroom downstairs, a basement with the washer and dryer, and of course storage.

Upstairs I have 4 bedrooms and a large bathroom.

For many of the years I have lived in this house, I have had other people live with me. It has been an experience, and for the most part, a good experience. I think over the years I have had about 28 people live with me.

Right now, my friend and her 28 year old son have lived with me for a bit over 2 years.

For quite some time, before I realized what was happening and stopped it, people would move out of the house, and leave something upstairs in the walk in attic, the third floor actually.

I have made some effort to have them come and retrieve their stuff, but there is still a bit up there. But, I too, have some things in the attic that I need to get rid of.

Thus, I can identify with your garage. LOL

I do better now, and have made some strides, but it is an ongoing battle.

Good luck.

ELONA

I agree that we must work to keep our mindset in a good and healthy place. I am definitely a work in progress.

I heard a phrase some years ago that I try to keep in my mind. "Progress, not perfection". Being a perfectionist, it is a good reminder for me.

One day at a time, I can do this.

Had a pretty good day today. I rode my stationary bike Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, for 70, 68, and 65 minutes respectively, so I took today off.

Took Dalton, my friend's son who lives with me, to the park so he could go for a walk, while I sat and enjoyed the snowfall, sitting in my car and reading. Very peaceful.

He does not drive and has emotional issues, so since iI am retired, I try to get him out of the house a few times a week. His mom works pretty long hours.

Then I picked up my friend Diana so she could run an errand, and we went to the grocery store and then on to have Mexican food for dinner.

Now home and just hanging out. Not much else to report

God Bless, and have a wonderful week, both of you!

Hi all! emoticon

Hi BONNIE! emoticon
It's nice to know I'm not alone. I do my best to turn my attention away from any kind of pain and engage in healthy and enjoyable activities, including the mundane. Lol. I also turn my attention away to good and healthy thoughts. It is a skill that I'm working on. I'm making good progress, I believe my physical and mental health is showing improvement because of it. I learned this at the Mayo Clinic (Severe Pain Program) a year ago. I'm So glad your making progress with your weight loss. Excellent job!!! emoticon

Hi FRANCES! emoticon
Oh my! How did your clean-up go? I remember when I sold my house having to go to endless purging, giving back, giving away different family members belongings It seemed like miles and miles of work! It was especially hard because much of my parent's stuff was stored there. Now they are mine. Now, I need to archive hundreds of photos from early 1920 to before Facebook. Would you call it, B.F.? LOL. That's not including micro-organizing some heirlooms. They are still inboxes. Those items are fun and nostalgic. Some of the photos bring on memories I still have to process, some good and some sad. Sometimes, it takes strength to go through memories, doesn't it?

Me?
I need to start the Sweet Tooth challenge again.
Looking back, I realize I took on too much.
I have to scale down my commitments on SparkPeople.
So, I am starting the challenge and my blogging journal all over again!

IF AT FIRST YOU DON"T SUCCEED, TRY, TRY AGAIN! emoticon

BUT I have gone off sugar and anything sweet since the start. It's great I'm doing very well
Nevertheless, I believe it's important to gain insight and get the education the challenge will give me.

I want this not just to be a promise to myself.

To me, this is not about self-control as much as it is about permanent lifestyle change.

So, off I go tonight. I will start from day one! Yay!

Good morning!

Thank you both for sharing what is going on or has gone on in your lives. It is good to have people we can share with (even if it is online). I hope you continue to share so we can help one another and just chat.

I am off today. Going to get a haircut, get my oil changed and shop for groceries. Then I have to tackle the garage. It seems like everything I need to do is at a standstill in this house until I can clean out the garage. There are things in there that belonged to my late husband, my mom, my three grown children and even some of my grandchildren's things. I think once I get that huge area in order, life will go more smoothly. And my mental fitness will be a little better in tact. LOL

Well, off I go. Have a great Friday!

Hi, Girls.

I thought I might come here and chat with you two for a bit.

I totally understand the role that pain plays in our eating, our exercise and our attitude.

I have a very bad back and have for a lot of years. I turned 70 years old last September. In the last year, I have developed some issues with blood pressure and a couple of my other numbers are a bit suspect.

Even though I have been morbidly obese for a long time, I have not these issues, so they have caused me to sit up and take notice.

A year ago I lost about 20 pounds because of the health scare. Was able to maintain that loss, but not losing any more. In June, I was feeling badly physically because of inactivity. Because of my back exercise is a problem for me. I found in June that I can ride my recumbent stationary bike and not increase my pain, so that has been very helpful. I became more proficient on the bike, and began losing weight again in Sept. I have now lost 47 pounds, and am riding my bike an hour or a bit more 4 to 5 times a week at about 15 miles an hour.

I am feeling much better, and the stress relieve from riding my bike is helping me to eat better.

I still have pain, but am able to handle it better because I feel better and my attitude is better.

So, thought I would join with you here and just share some time.

Wishing you both a lovely rest of the day, and starting soon, a great weekend!

God Bless.

Bonnie

Hi ya'll! emoticon

Day two of the Sweet Tooth Challenge. I wonder why I have not had a craving for sweets today? This is is sort of strange. I've gone all day without anything sweet and don't mind it a bit. There was no milk this morning so I took my coffee black, shocker! I have never done that before! I've been drinking unsweetened brewed tea, too.

I think I'll wait and see if my mind did an attitude change. This has happened to me in less radical ways before. I made up my mind to lose weight. Yes, it took years and I stumbled a lot. I was pretty clueless about food tracking, planning, nutrition, portion control. I had health problems with chronic severe pain. I used food to to cope with it. Of course, being overweight increased my pain. I was intellectually aware of it, but denial shut out reality. Isn't is hard when your heart doesn't sync with your head. That I think was the hardest of all.

I believe I may have pulled a switch when I took the Sweet Tooth Challenge "test". There's something valuable found when you answer test questions honestly and the result stares you in the face. Lol. I'm really glad I found this challenge. Even if it's only day two, it's made a difference in my life. I feel more confident I can manage maintenance- mode. Lifestyle has been gradual. It's taken me years to feel normal doing things out of my comfort zone. Maintenance is no exception.

Now the hard part. I've delayed doing a daily blog about my experience in the Sweet Tooth Challenge. I think I will ease myself into it, by pasting this post as my first blog. That doesn't seem so hard, does it?

So the beat goes on... Lol.

Ttyl...

One day is good. And, yes, it does make us feel better about our progress. I like your recipe for popcorn as well.

My craving is for milk duds...strange, yes....but the struggle is real. I can do good most days but some I just give in to sweets. I need to practice more self control for sure.

Hi all! emoticon

Come chat with me. I need you and you need me, too! Let's have a chat party and share the good. Let's share anything! emoticon emoticon

Thanks for the compliment! Flattery will get you everywhere! LOL.

I figured it was time to join a team challenge to help me with a craving for sweets. I wasn't gorging or anything, but I did notice craving had increased from once a day to several in the past two months. Plus I kept on rationalizing saying it's just a treat because I wasn't feeling all that great after surgery. Strange as it may seem, the next day my craving went away and I didn't have one sugary sweet. I know my self-control is pretty good, but it surprised me. I suppose just making up my mind made a big difference. It was only one day. I know I have triggers, especially physical pain. Last night right before bed I had a tinge of craving. I ate some popcorn instead (natural kernels) I have a perfect recipe. I put corn kernels in a ceramic bowl and cover it with another bowl. Cook it for 3 minutes in the microwave on high and voila! I like to have a snack before I go to sleep and this was perfect.

The "Tame Your Sweet Tooth" Calendar challenge and the same corresponding team have a program just tailored for me and maybe you too! It has an evaluation at the onset. That was an eye-opener! And then daily tasks.

I know one day is only one day, but it was a good day and that counts for a lot.

Now to start my daily sweet journal. I'm not great at keeping up with journals.

I will do my best and not expect perfection, only progress. emoticon

Thanks for reading!

Hi! emoticon

I just joined this team today. This team seems to be a good fit for me.

I am a 69-year-old woman. Blessed with a young mind and body. I have overcome serious health issues. The pain was my weakness. I say "was", because it's still here, but I don't let it get in my way anymore. I can thank the Mayo Clinic Severe Pain program for that.

I am a swimmer and a children's swim instructor. I also practice Tai Chi. I started Filipino martial art (Arnis/Escrima/Kali) several months ago.

Last December I had to put vigorous activities on hold due to unexpected major surgery. I am so much looking forward to getting my life back. My doctor has cleared me to resume regular exercises starting in March. I've been feeling claustrophobic and fighting depression for the past couple of months. I'm not used to laying around. Convalescence is incredibly boring work! Lol.

I have been given the gift of good health for sure!

My current goal is maintenance and building muscle mass. I have lost a lot of bulk from inactivity. I feel like my batwings should be put to good use by flying around my neighborhood like a drone.

I am in maintenance mode now. What a challenge, but a good one! My food plan is the Mediterranean Diet. Actually, it's less of a diet and more of a lifestyle. I've been eating like this since I was a child.

My highest weight was in 2012 when I joined SP - 188 lbs. I fell into emotional eating due to fear of severe pain and lack of education. I thank heaven for SparkPeople and my friends here. SP and all you wonderful members saved my life.

I no longer have high blood pressure, pre-diabetes or sleep apnea. I am able to hike, swim and do most anything I like. I can have fun again! Yes, I have to pace myself, practice moderation and discipline. My reward is having fun, adventures and being free!!.

My long term goal is to compete in the FINA (or like) swim competition and win the GOLD in my age bracket. In case you don't know, people over 50 have their own Olympics worldwide!

My inspiration came from reading about several CENTENARIANS competing in the senior Olympics. I was blown away finding out a 102-year-old woman won the GOLD in Backstroke. She was from China. Another GOLD winner was from India. emoticon emoticon

One day, God willing, I will stand proud on the podium with my gold medal!

Thanks for reading!

Love life! Never, never give up! Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never give in nothing, great or small, large or petty. Never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense-Winston Churchill. When you have a lemon, make lemonade!

Good morning! I struggle on Saturdays to get things done...and to eat right. I tend to just do whatever I want to waste the day. Today, I want to do different and go to the gym, clean out some of the garage, and do some housework. emoticon

Today is the best day to begin making changes for yourself and others both inside and out!
