We did it in early November; and although I lost about 10 lbs, I did gain back about 4 or 5 lbs initially. But I went all the way from Thanksgiving to Christmas and New Years without gaining back anything else! Then I started a new job that was really stressful. THAT is when the lbs came back on.... :(

yeah... that's a really bad time of the month (no pun intended) to do the cleanse. Give it another try in a week or so...

CMCarrut - I'm no expert (I didn't even make it the full 10 days), but I kept a blog last year when DH and I did the MC. If you go to my spark page, I only have a few blogs, and the one called Master Cleanse isn't real long but does contain a few insights and helpful hints tied to our experience with the cleanse. Maybe you'd like to check it out before you start. Good luck - don't be too nervous. And most of all - drink ALL your lemonade. I think that's the main reason DH and I didn't make it the whole time. We didn't drink all we should have, and ended up getting hungry!

You CAN do it!!! emoticon

and Kim, I hope you're sticking with it, too! I wonder what happened to Bicycle Goddess. IF you didn't make, it no worries. Most of us don't - esp. the first time! We still love you!!!

KC,

Keep up the good work. I broke my fast at the 10 day point and really think I would do one again. I am feeling very good and excited to try to eat healthier than before.

Cheers,
Amy

It is great to hear your progress. I just started on Monday. Monday was okay, Tuesday was horrible; I was nauseated, had a bad headache and just felt tired. Went to bed early and slept hard. So far I feel good today. I'm a little hungry. I did my regular exercise for the day. My goal is 10 days. We have a family party to go to this weekend and I'm nervous about that. Mostly the questions of why aren't you eating/drinking?

Wow, day 9. I ran 5 miles today and still feel good - I feel pretty good and upbeat. To be honest, I am getting a little nervous about breaking the fast. I don't want to go back to my old bad habits. I have great aspirations right now and hope I can live up to them.

Thanks for the encouragement - day 7 and still feeling good - I rode my bike to work and will ride back home. I am getting nervous about breaking the fast and how to eat healthy when I do. I wish the meal planner on this site was a bit more friendly.

Hey girls! Sounds like you're both doing GREAT on your cleanse! That is SO AWESOME!!! That was really cool about your coworker bringing you lemons and maple syrup, Amy. I bet that makes you feel even more committed to your cause, right?

Well, keep up the GREAT work, you two!

BG,

I live in Germany and work as an IT project manager. I run a lot, but also ride. I have a Cannondale F400 Mountain bike.

Today has been very good, I rode my bike in to work. One of my coworkers who knows I am trying to cleanse brought in muffins for everyone, but then dropped off a small bottle of Organic Maple syrup and some lemons for me. I found it to be amazingly thoughtful and supportive. I am hoping the rest of day four goes as well.

By the way, what made you decide to try the cleanse? Is this your first? It is my first.

Cheers,
Amy

Hey Ashban!

Today I am not even hungry again. It's sort of a strange feeling. And I know what you mean about the dish of candy, etc. Or little cookie sitting there-- or even just a bite of anything, doesn't seem like it would really matter but for some reason I think if I revved up my stomach, then all would be lost and I would be VERY hungry! So keep at it.

I've gotten to 4 days before. This time I plan to make it the whole 10. Fortunately, my life is really hectic right now, so it helps me to forget that I am not eating anything solid! :)

Cheers,
BG

Thanks BG. It is nice to know someone is out there. Day three is starting off well. I also feel like eating just because. One of my coworkers just filled up the office candy dish and normally I would have had a piece or two by now...instead I am drinking my peppermint tea and know I am doing something good for my body.

Ha Ha! The bad economy excuse! :)

I'm doing ok so far... It's funny, I have the "urge" to eat only bc it's something I am used to doing, not because I am actually "hungry." But I have just kept myself pretty busy and that seems to be the best way. I've still been bicycling to my errands etc around town.

Keep up the good work! We're doing well.

BG,

Today I told a coworker that I would go to lunch, but only wanted water to save money - the bad economy is a good excuse not to buy expensive lunches.

Cheers,
Amy

BG,

So far my day one is going well. I did the SWF this morning and think that I will do it at night for now on - I work a standard 8-5 job. I am currently feeling strong so far and hope I can still get in a three mile run. Also, I think I should start refocusing my yoga workout during the cleanse.
Cheers,
Amy

I think telling (most) people will result in some very judgemental comments towards you, so it's prob best just to have water and say something like, "I'm fasting at lunch this week" or something vague like that. It's really none of their business, but people make it their business, so it's hard. I have done things like this for about 3-4 days before and people are generally horrified that I'm doing it. Though a lady at work I know did it for the full 10 days and drank her lemonade water at her desk and lost 9 pounds. It all depends who you work with! I don't really plan to tell anyone much.

Fortunately, I am working so little right now, that I'm nearly unemployed, so I won't have a lot of other people's feedback to deal with. (I'm sort of in between jobs right now.)

I plan to carry out the full 10 days. I may not be able to report on here every day as I do work out of town on the 27-29th, but I'll try to keep posting so we can hold each other's hand through this.

BTW. Day one seems pretty easy so far!

When DH and I did the cleanse last Fall, I kept a blog. It's in my Spark Page blogs - there are only a couple, and this one is called Master Cleanse, so it's easy to find. Maybe you'll like/use a few of the "hints" I've included there!

That would be great - I am really excited, but know it will be a challenge. I have two work lunches this week where I am planning on trying to get by with just drinking water...I am hoping not to have to explain to people what I am doing - what about you?

I bought my supplies yesterday and plan to start tomorrow. Yesterday and today I have been doing the pre-cleanse and eating only raw foods and drinking tea and orange juice...I have never done anything like this and hope I can make it.
