Hi NOLALADY! I love NoLa :) But, that's besides the point! Welcome, welcome, welcome! I just wanted to let you know that I am a vegetarian who is transitioning to becoming vegan. I'm actually following the Thrive principles (it's a book by vegan ironman Brendan Brazier) but am still eating eggs. So, if you have any questions about the vegetarian or vegan lifestyle, please feel free to ask me! Also, there's a group called Calling All Vegetarians/Vegans that is very good, too (if you haven't already joined).

Good luck on your journey!

Thanks, I'm trying my hardest to be a planner this year. If I can stay organized I think I will be able to reach my goals and retain my sanity.

Welcome to the team!
I hear you about working a 40-hour week and then going to school at night. It's so tempting to make unhealthy choices when you don't have time to cook.
It's good that you're eating your veggies and drinking your water. Just try not to get overwhelmed with too many changes at once.
Good to hear from you!

I feel like a whoohoo should follow that statement. Anyway I wanted to introduce my self to the team. I have a huge appreciation for art, BA undergrad in Art History, six credits shy of a masters (focus on WPA art). I found I really don't want to work with artists and I'm really more interested in history, more specifically material culture. So now I'm doing an MBA and will sort it out later. I do a bit of volunteer work and really enjoy living in the artsy city of New Orleans.

I need to loose weight, because my thirties did not treat me well and I kind of ignored the fact that my clothes kept getting bigger for the last five years. I can only say its katrina weight for so long. So now is time to loose the weight or start getting into some health issues. I'll choose to loose.

I'm going for a vegetarian close to vegan theme in my cooking and trying to cook at least 90% of the food I eat. My doctor told me to stop going out to lunch (I think he has the right idea). So I'm sorting out the early effects of a plant based diet. I've lost a couple of pounds this week, had one set back (darn monkey bread and pfeffernus), and been pretty good about eating my veggies and drinking lots of water.

I think this week will go well, but I'm a bit concerned for next week when I go back to working 40 hours and then going to school at night. It is so easy to reach for the convenience foods.

Well, I look forward to hearing about your cultural experiences, food experiences and your trials and tribulations as we make this journey to better health together. Good luck to us all!
