Hi! I'm a mid-thirties mother of two, ages 10 and 11. I'm also the wife of an extremely fit gym rat who loves to eat junk food because he knows he can get away with it. I joined the team in early October but had some challenges rallying the family to get on board with developing healthier habits. I also never got around to introducing myself to the team. So...although I didn't complete the challenge initially, I'm looking forward to a do-over emoticon

Hi, my name is Marc. I am the proud father of 3 awesome kids and husband to my high school sweetheart going on 15 years. I have almost always been an athlete. But packed on a “few” lbs after we started a family. I got stuck in a rut of sedentary living and unhealthy eating habits. I have since put in the work and made many of the habitual changes needed to become healthy. Now I want to help my family become healthy as well. Plus I still need reach my goal weight of 215lbs.

Hey, my name is Tiffany. I'm a first time mom of a 10 month old baby girl. I have been trying to become healthier since I got pregnant and my doctor told me I was a at high risk of becoming diabetic, especially since it runs in my family. Trying to get healthy and keeping my family healthy too.

My name is Emily. I'm a busy mom with a 4 year old and an 8 year old stepson. I try to always be making health conscious choices when it comes to my own life, and especially when it comes to my kids. I notice them falling into patterns of wanting only junk food and sweets, getting pickier about meals and wanting to lounge around on the weekends, rather than getting outside to play! Hi! I am the single mother of an 11 year old boy with ADHD. We have both been prescribed many medications for numerous medical conditions and I have just had enough. I believe if we live a healthy lifestyle, (which we had not,) that we will be able to reduce or eliminate most of these medications. I now realize it is going to take a lot more than just eating right to achieve this goal, but I am determined!

When you think of quitting - remember where you are going... will you be fat, or will you be fit?

Hello everybody. My name is Mary Thoreson. I'm 57 years old and working on getting healthy for the first time ever. I've always been healthy but as I get older, that requires more maintenance and I haven't kept up with it. So, now my family and I are working together to get healthy. I have a wonderful husband, Henry, who is a cancer survivor. And my son, Jim, and his wife, Rashelle, live with us, along with their 3 children, Christian, Michael and Andrew. Together we want to get our cholesterol and blood pressures down to a healthy level, lose some weight so we are able to exercise better, and live healthy.

Im steph and live in Arkansas. I have a wonderful husband and for kids. My daughter is 20 and lives back in Arizona. My oldest son is almost 19 and married his high school sweetheart this past May once he graduated from high school. And two younger sons are 10 and 7. We are an unhealthy family trying to get healthy. They are all supportative in my health kick. Half the time they dont even know they are doing healthy until we are done and I tell them.

My 7yo is my workout buddy. He loves taking walks with me and doing the Wii Fit. He keeps me going when I slow down.

I look forward to learning and hopefully helping here!

hi all,

I'm Jenny, single mama of a 7 year old boy, and wrangler of cats, guinea pigs, chooks, and the occasional foster dog. I stay at home, studying graphic design.

I've recently revamped my spark journey, concentrating on consistency, routine and spark community involvement as my rock from where my life springs from each day.

Crusoe watches what I do. As a recovering binge eater and bulimic I am very conscious of how my relationship with food (and my body) can impact on his little life. Allowing him to take part in this challenge, and the Healthy kids challenge, is inviting him into what is a big part of my life. I hope to give him tools for life that enable him to self-care - increase his own wellbeing in healthy ways. I hope this team in small ways, tightens our bond together and increases our love of life. We are low dairy, low gluten vegetarians.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Hello! I am a mother to 2 little girls, and work full-time. My husband and I are both overweight, and realize we need to make some changes now so our kids grow up with healthy habits. We already make sure they have fruits and vegetables, but we still have the sugary sweet snacks and desserts. I just need some cooperation and teamwork from my husband :) to make it happen. He says he wants to lose weight, but then orders a double bacon cheeseburger and large fries. Luckily we eat most of our meals at home, so I am trying to find healthier recipes to try. This will be an adventure for sure, and I am very hopeful that we will make changes that stick!

Hi - I'm Deb - mom to 4 wonderful kids. Both my husband and myself are extra large - and our kids are following in our footsteps. I know I'm the main cause for my children being overweight - because I buy the food, and I make it available to them. Hi! I'm Karen, I have a 7 year old son who's going into second grade and a 3 1/2 year old daughter in preschool. I also work outside the home full time. My name is Rachel Adams and I am the mother of little active outdoor all boy and one beautiful precious angel. My hubby is active duty army and we are in serious need of a healthy make over. We have medical problems but know that we can do it!

Hello! I'm Helen. I'm married 18 years to David and we have 5 children, ages 15, 13, 11, 9 and 2. We homeschool them. Two of my kids and my husband and I tend to gain too much weight and I could use some tips on getting our family healthier. I have 30 lbs to lose, as does my husband. My daughter is 13 and needs to lose about 15 lbs and my 9 year old is about 20 lbs overweight. The other 3 boys are thin and fit.

Hi,
I am the mother of two boys, ages 8 and 11. My DH and I just celebrated 16 years of marriage (22 years as "a couple"). My husband I and have both seen the lbs creep on over the years. Too much food and too little excercise. I was recently diagnosed with diabetes and have high blood pressure too. I am worried about giving my kids an unhealthy legacy and would like to give them more healthy habits. I am also worried about DH health. It seems we are both so worn out after work that the TV is the family activity after dinner. It's easier for me to be more active during summer, since I am a teacher. With school starting again, I don't want to go back to fast food several times a week and no excercise while we try to fit in the kids' sports and scouting and the relentless amount of homework they get. (Seriously, 2 hours is too much when you're 7!) Anyway, I want to keep up the healthy habits I am working on this summer and it will be easier to maintain if my family has healthy habits too.

Life is a roller coaster! Be that person who holds someone hand in the dark tunnel and shares a knowing look up the high peaks. Most of all, be that person who throws hands up in the air and screams for joy!

Hello everyone! I am a newb at this. I am a 42 year old mom with 3 children; 14, 16 and 22. Married. Not quite a soccor mom, but ASA mom. Year-round girls softball with only one mth off. Currently not working and decided both my husband and I have been complaining for months about our gained weight over the past couple of years, we are now going to get it under control! Healthier eating, and more movement.. Excited for this new chapter in our lives as the three kids are already very active.. Hi Everyone,

I'm a mom of two boys ages 10 and 5. My husband and I work full-time. Fitness has become a priority in our house. My oldest son has asthma, which has been well-controlled, however he has gained a little too much weight this year and that has exacerbated his condition. He is not extremely obese, just a little overweight and the doc would like him to lose about 10 pounds. It's a wake up to all of us to get in control and be healthy.

My son is feeling a bit self-conscious about being fat and we are trying to change the focus from being fat to doing this as a family so that we are all healthy. We just keep trying to reinforce that being a healthy weight will improve his asthma.

Slowly but surely we will get there.

Hi, my name is Stephanie, I have a wonderful, fun, quirky family. My husband and I have a great time with our 3 kids, 15,13, and 10. I thought this would be a great first challenge since my main reason for making healthy changes for myself is because I know that my health and fitness sets the tone for the whole family. We just had our family meeting for our week 1 challenge and my 10 year old son had a hardest time with the limited "screen time" and kept asking which of his "toys" was not part of the no screen time zone. I told him anything that you have to turn on must be turned off during those times. I'm looking forward to spending more together time this week. Thanks for the challenge Jen.

hey everyone! I'm 31 Foster Mom of two girls ages 3 and 5. We are a turbo injected family...it always seems like we have some kind of crazy fun thing going on. We enjoy lots of family functions and friends are always over. Some of the challanges we face is being so busy it is sometimes hard to fit the excercise and the time to really cook good meals. We have lots of great foundations in place...we eat together at the dinner table everynight. I take my labs for at least a walk every weekday morning sometimes we run. My girls take swim lessons every Saturday. My husband loves to cook and does a good job most of the time finding us healthy things to eat. I wanted to do this challange to help us keep our screen time down to reasonable levels, come up with good ways to navigate a many summer bbqs with healthy choices and a fun way to spend more time together with all of us :)

I'v been working on being more active myself, so in turn I decided it would be good for the whole family to be more active. I am married and have an 8 year old..... that doesn't like to go outside buy himself. So what a great way to get him and the family moving more. I hope to get some great ideas from this challenge!

Hello everybody! So 2 days ago, my mom sent my this website and it just gave me the motivation I needed.
At this moment, my mom is in Canada and I'm in Dominican Republic... but it doesn't keep us from exercising together! how!?! Well, for instance, today, we were talking on Skype (we both have a camera so we can see each other) and we did for the first time, a workout!!! That was really cool!
So we are a team!

We are a very on the go military family. Our 3 almost 4 year old is very active and loves to be outside. We tend to be pretty healthy most of the time but recently I have gotten very bad about not checking what Im making and just throwing things together that arent always the best. We are trying for a second baby now so I really want us to be healthy when that happens

We've been in transformation for about a year, when we switched to "whole" food as our family option. Our rule is that if we don't know what it is, we don't eat it. We bake our own bread, eat from our garden, and so forth. Sadly---we still eat out (usually fast food) more than we should!

And, we don't exercise much. We live in SW Texas and summertime means 100+ days, and during school, we are so busy all the time. Yes, I realize I'm making excuses!

I'm looking forward to getting some new ideas, and recipes to help my family get on track!
