I finally realized that it takes a while to change metabolism. Also you have put on muscle which weighs ore than fat. Just keep on doing what your doing, I had to revampe my healthy eating, eliminate the sugar, was my first one, more veggies, no juice....You know what you are doing. Just making ahealthy lifestyle is the best.

HI! New here to the team and another not new to sparkpeople. I'm looking at a possible diagnosis of diabetes with an appointment to the doctors today at 9:30.
Live in Baden-Baden Germany and I know I need to lose weight, badly...

Saw the blog, laughed so hard at it, and thought this is a team I could really use for support and motivation to get the weight off and keep it off no matter how long it takes or how slow the process.!

Hello,
I have 10 sisters that are sparkers.
They are all loosing weight beautifully.
I am the tortoise for sure of the group.

I loose it and find it all in the same week.
I exercise regularly and believe that I am eating right. I am in menopause and my effort at most is keeping weight gain at bay.

I was checking out a friends teams and noticed that this team may fit my program quite well.
Here is to the s l o w e s t losers!!!
I am happy to be one of you and share in your frustrations and victories.
Keep sparking,
Patty emoticon

Hello,
When i saw the name of this team, it sooo sounded like me!
A few years ago after some heavy duty stress (loss of my mom, and having my dad and my father-in-law move in with us), i went to the doctor and found out i had high blood pressure and the doctor said i needed to drop about 65 pounds. So i changed my way of eating, started exercising regularly and became a Zumba instructor. Although i've lost several inches and gone down in clothing size, i still weigh almost as much as i did when i started, which makes me feel like a failure. Anyway, here i am!

Hi all! I decided that I should join the slowest loser team since I haven't dropped a single pound since June despite my best efforts at eating within my calories and working out hardcore. :( My motivation and will power are quickly unraveling after a 4 month stall. Any and all advice would be absolutely more than welcome!!

My name is Chuck from Portland Oregon area. Have bee with Spark since 01/2010 with some success. Started at 277 lbs and now at 219 lbs. This is the longest period I have ever been on a healthy nutrition and fitness program. I have been on several well know and published diets, lost a lot of weight on each, just to regain it all back plus. The longest I ever stayed on a diet was 3 months. I grew tire and bored of the low calorie restrictions and felt unhealthy. With Spark I have been with for 9 mos. This time I have lost the weight slower, I eat more calories, and have a good workout plan.
I am looking to make permanent changes in my lifestyle toward eating and fitness.

Hi all. I'm new to the team but not new to Sparkpeople. I just lost weight very slowly. This year I've been working out very consistently (for the first time), but I just. havent. lost. weight. I'm on track diet-wise this week - we'll see how I weigh in this week. Look forward to conversing with you.

Hi everyone!!! This will be my second attempt at this spark people thing. I wish I could say that this is the second attempt at weight loss, but I have struggled with that for a while now. I am a 30 year old wife and mother of four. They are ages 11, 8, 5, and 2 1/2, so as you can see a quick weight lose solution is not for me I barely have time to breathe and that makes serious weight loss exercising impossible. I love the slow and steady approach of this group, and really I think that is a better solution to long term weight loss and a healthier life style. Looking forward to all this team has to offer!!!

Hi everyone. This looks like the perfect team for me because it's taken me 9 months to lose 32 pounds. I'm 44 and feel so much better than I did at the beginning of this year. I'm okay with slow but (somewhat) steady weight loss, and as long as I trend downward, it takes as long as it takes. I went for a 5 mile walk this morning and I couldn't or wouldn't have done that a year ago. Progress. (I think I posted this in the wrong place initially. Very sorry!)

My name is Brian. I have one year until I turn 40 and have it my goal to get to a normal BMI weight by then. I don't have a lot of time with family and work responsibilities, so I have no choice but to go slow.

Hi everyone! This is my third attempt at SparkPeople in 2 years. My goal is to lose 50 pounds by my first anniversary in April, which would be about 2 pounds per week. I know that's still pushing myself, so I'd still be extremely happy with whatever I do lose by then emoticon as long as I get healthy emoticon

This is my third try on SparkPeople, and this time I've decided to be more realistic. Fist off, my overarching goal has less to do with weight than size--I'd like to go from my current size 14 to a size 8. To do that, I'm thinking I'll need to lose about 45 pounds...in the next 62 weeks (by my 25th birthday). So, 3/4 of a pound a week--slow and steady wins the race!!! I'm glad to find a community of people who are also on the slow track to a healthy lifestyle. :)

Spark is definitely a good way to start down the road to a healthier lifestyle. Try to make one small change at a time & when that becomes a habit, add another. There's TONs of resources all over the site so it may take you a bit to navigate.

Good luck all & remember ....

Hi All! My name is Carey. I'm just re-starting my weight-loss journey. I saw Bruce Corwin's blog today and thought this team sounded up my alley. I have 100 lbs to loose. I am married with two kids - a 13 year old daughter and an 8 year old son. They are keeping me pretty busy right now. Looking forward to getting to know the members of the team and being motivated.

Hi, I'm Beach Brenda. I joined Spark in August, after 1 1/2 years at weight watchers. I have been a slow loser all along. I told myself from the beginning that slow is okay, as long as the scale was going down. Well, the scale HATES me, so I try not to even look at it. I weigh in once a month and that's depressing enough... I read the most recent blog from this team and it looks like a great place to be...

Then at dinner, chic, fish or pork , and Brown rice, flavored. and big salad. In later evening , crab and dip. I have a book Clean Eating, Recharged by Tosca Reno. Iím TriciaÖIíve been a Sparker on and off for 3 years. This is the 3rd time Iíve joined, and I truly, honestly, believe that this is the last time for me! Iíve said before that I was really doing it, only to quit after a month or two, but this time I feel so different than the other times. I donít know how to describe it, but I just feel like this time I CAN do it. Iíve always read that in order to be successful in weight loss you had to WANT to lose weight. Iíve always wanted to lose weightÖthatís a ridiculous thing to sayÖbut now that Iím back for the third time, I know what it means. There was just something missing before thatís there now. I want to start a family, I want to be comfortable in my own skin, I want my husband to be proud of the accomplishments that Iíve made, I want to do this for ME! This IS my time, and Iím losing weight slowly, but steadilyÖIíve been back with Spark for 32 days and Iíve lost 7 pounds. Iím very happy with my results so far, and Iím ready to keep going!

Hi all. I've been reading the Slowest Loser blog and enjoying it very much, so thought I would find out what it's all about.

I joined SparkPeople about 4 years ago and didn't do anything with it for about a year. Then I used the tools here and with good diet and daily walking, I dropped 35 pounds in roughly 6 months. THEN I got depressed and gave up for 3 years and gained all that back and then some. I RE-started at the beginning of September and I'm determined to go all the way through to my goal even if it takes me 10 years to do it.

*hugs* to every one here and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all :)

God Bless,
mik

If you,re excersizing that much you need to eat clean more often. The Eat Clean Recharged book by Tosca Reno saids to eat at least every three hrs. So by lowering your calories too much, you are lowering our metabolism too. Also you'll feel better. It took my metabolism at least a mo. or more for it to det going. Add some strength training a couple times a wk.

Hi! My name is Kim and I joined SP in early 2009, then did nothing with it until June of this year. I have lost 24 pounds with SP - okay - lets say I HAD lost 24 pounds with SP until this past 2 weeks. I went on a vacation and even before the vacation decided to "take a break". NOT a good idea - I gained 4 pounds!! My intention has always been to lose slow this time, so that I can keep it off and get healthy and get off the meds I take for high BP, diabetes, etc. I am gonna do it this time with the help of SP!!

Thanks for listening...................

Diane from North Carolina here.

One of my favorite sayings -- which I've found applies to almost everything in life -- is this:

"There's fast. There's cheap. And there's good. You get to choose TWO."

I've chosen "cheap" (because between the economy these days and medical expenses, I can't afford anything else) and "good" (because who actually WANTS crappy results?)... which takes "fast" off the table. Making this group nearly perfect for me!

Besides, if I wanted to speed up the weight loss, I'd probably have to limit my consumption of dark chocolate even more than I already have, and that just isn't going to happen. I'm already dangerously close to the minimum daily recommended allowance of chocolate as it is.

Happy to be here! Looking forward to (gradually, oh so gradually) getting in shape with y'all!

Hi everyone! I'm Lea. I'm 25 years old from Upstate NY. It's always been super hard for me to lose weight, and since I had my daughter in April, 2009, I've been working at it like crazy!!!!! I have found that I absolutely LOVE to exercise, and my day wouldn't be complete without it.

@OT4FUNCTION I think that as long as you are comfortable with your fitness level, keep doing what you're doing, just make sure you are eating enough calories. I know that I was downplaying the number of calories I was burning so my calorie intake was much lower than it should have been and I wasn't losing ANY weight at all. Once I adjusted that and started eating more, I started losing weight again and feeling MUCH better.

Hello I am wondering is there such a thing of exercising too much? I am not working and do at least 2hrs of walking/jogging daily for mental benefits. I initially tried to keep my calorie intake between 1200/1500 but have since raised it to the 1500/1800 level and usually try to maintain at the lower end of 1500. I do not weigh myself but perceive I should be noticing a difference in my clothing. I have been a member of SP since late Aug and need assistance with this frustration.

Hi all,

I have tried to lose weight at various times in the past. Last year I lost 3.5 stones, but I was obsessed with what I ate and how much I could lose in a week. So much so that I took to taking lazatives the evening before my weigh in! Really not good.

This time I am trying to take a more relaxed view. I get married 10th September next year, and I want to achieve my target weight by 10th June so that I know what kind of underwear I'll need to get to go under my dress. That gives me 9 months to lose about 14lbs.

It is never too late to be what you might have been.

Hi, I'm Martha from Indiana. I started on SparkPeople in May 2010. I think I belong on this team because:

1) I read that I need to increase my running speed if I want to burn more fat and lose weight faster. But I don't want to increase my speed. I like jogging a 12-13 minute mile -- it's relaxing to me and gives me time to think about things. I may lose more slowly, but it fits my life better.

2) I have an active occupation, and if I don't eat enough, I can't make it through the day. I don't want to pig out on "bad" foods, but I do find I need a few more calories than the SP guidelines say in order to get everything done and still feel good. I try to make the extra calories something healthy, but still, it slows down the weight loss. I've decided I'm OK with that as long as I feel healthy and the weight is going down.

I look forward to meeting you all!
Martha

HI, my name is Linda W and am a member for a long time since 2009. This past Thanksgiving my husband of 12 years went to be with Jesus and I then was so overwhelmed with everything that I did nothing. after these many months I finally started living again and wanted to again lose weight. I read a book that made sense to me and started on a diet that would eliminate sugar in my diet. It will be slow going so it will take awhile before my body is completely rid of all sugar and it is a good process to eliminate it emoticon

Oh, Summer, it is so great to have you on board. I'm new myself and just learning my way around this wonderful site. I really appreciate your attitude about "getting back up". I wish I had had that attitude when I was your age (I'm 64). If I had perhaps I wouldn't have fallen down and stayed there. I have struggled with my weight all my life and when I was 57 I just simply said I can't do this anymore and really did give up. Someone told me about gastric bypass surgery and I began researching it and finally decided this was my only hope. I had the surgery at 357 lbs and have lost 160 and kept it off for 7 years. But the surgery was on my stomach and not on my head so I slip up with my eating more times than I need to. I'm not exercising like I should. Now is the time for you to work on creating a healthy lifestyle for yourself--something I never quite learned to do. I'm glad I had the surgery because it brought my diabetes and blood pressure under control. But as I said it didn't work on my brain and that is something that I am now trying to do. The surgery brought me to a place where I could get healthier, but it would have been so much better if I could have done it the way you are working on. At the time I had the surgery I had totally given up and felt like my life would be over very soon. The surgery brought me back from the brink but all the rules still apply for keeping it off and keeping my body healthy. So I wish you well on your journey. Just remember--NEVER GIVE UP!

emoticon , I'm glad to find out I'm not the only one fighting a really slow battle. I started my journey in January of 2009 and joined Spark in September 2009. As you can see from my ticker, it's been a really slow battle, but I'm trying to believe that even maintaining is better than before.
I'm 61 and have been fighting this battle my whole life. I work full-time, have a thin husband and thin daughter -- their metabolism is great.
I appreciate the slow and steady approach, I am going onward and downward.
