Welcome! Logging into SP and SL every day really is helpful and motivating.

I don't know what the Curves diet is, but if Azure Sky says it's too many carbs, I'm inclined to agree. Or maybe it is the wrong kinds of carbs. Either way, if it's not working for YOU, don't be afraid to try something different. I've personally had the most success staying away from processed foods for the most part. I still eat carbs, but stick with stuff that has fiber and is low on the glycemic index, such as sweet potatoes and brown rice, and always have a healthy portion of protein, and yes, FAT with it. No carb snacks (including fruit) without a bit of fat and protein to balance it out, like a hard boiled egg or a string cheese. For the fats, aim to get them from nuts, avocados, olive oil and fish as much as possible. The omega 3's and monounsaturated fats will help you burn, and best of all, I'm never hungry doing this. Last of all, lots and lots of veggies, raw as much as possible. Carrots actually have a high glycemic index and might be bumping your blood sugar up, causing more hunger, so you might find you feel more satisfied if you have a mix of carrots, broccoli, celery, bell pepper, or whatever else sounds good, and round it out with a little bit of hummus or some cheese or an egg.

Good luck, and keep checking in! emoticon

Welcome to the team!

Sounds like your body is confused by the constant changing of calories consumed - try to find what range your body loses at and stick with that number, then once you've lost all you want, slowly increase your calories by 100 calories a day for a week and see what the results are, eventually you'll find the exact number to maintain that goal you're working so hard to get to!

Cheers

Hi
I am new here too. Actually returning after quite a long break and yes, still losing slowly. I had a huge loss this last week but I also had the flu for three days and didn't eat so it will slow down considerably now.

Welcome,

I joined Curves a couple of years ago & got their diet plan. It didn't work for me because there are too many carbs. When I eat 50% of my calories as carbs, I'm starving all day. I reduced the amount of carbs & increased protein and I am rarely hungry.

I'm 59, hypothyroid (1 1/2 years), and just had a fasting blood glucose of 124. So my doctor suggested I cut back on carbs - even though I haven't been diagnosed as diabetic. I'm trying to avoid that.

She said to get 35-40% of my calories from carbs. Since I started that, I've struggled to eat as many as 1400 calories because I'm just not hungry. I've done this in the past and it works for me - until I get tired of it, then I go back to my bad habits.

I have been trying to get to my goal (it started out as losing 10 lbs) for 5 years. Family death, a car accident, back surgery, mono twice and then the swine flu made me gain weight, 10 lbs each time until 2008, all the while I was trying to eat healthy to lose my last 10. Sad to say that last ten went to 20, 30, 40, and finally 50 lbs when each event happened. Since 2008 I have lost 25lbs but for the last three months, I cannot get to 30 (or as soon as I do, those creepy 5 lbs come right back because I am a woman). I know I want to continue to lose the weight slowly. I know that tracking my food intake works for the most part. I know that accountability works wonders, but when I can't sleep at night because my hunger growls are intense, and it happens every day of the week, I know I need extra support. So here I am!

Here is what I have been doing:
I belong to Curves and work out 3Xs a week and hubby and I go for hour-long walks at least once a week. I have been following the Curves Weight Management Plan since January 2008 and Jan - March are always good for me every year but something happens in April - it stops working, every year. I am starting again at phase 1 (one week of 1200 calories a day) today. Then three weeks at phase 2 (1500 calories a day). I am hoping for January and March results.
In May I lost the 5 lbs in phase 1 but in phase 2 I gained it back, following the 1500 calories each day to a T. I work at a University and May is the end of the semester, finals week, and then no routine where I catch up on everything else that I let slide due to the crazy semester's end. We also had a death in the family. Needless to say I didn't maintain that 5lbs loss.
In June I was in phase 3 (2000 calories a day until 3-5 lbs are gained, then phase 1 for three days to lose the 3-5 lbs). This June I easily gained the 5 lbs after a week of 2000 calories but three days of phase 1 did not make me lose all the weight, just 2 lbs of it. I am frustrated with my body - I want to exercise more to burn more fat but that makes me too hungry. Is it wrong to eat a whole bag of baby carrots and still be hungry? There is my frustration.

Get ready body - July is going to be January and you will lose those 3 and maybe even another 5 and KEEP IT OFF! I am ready - this is my July goal: 8 lbs and then maintain it all of August.

Thanks team for being here!
Hugs.

Amoebas live forever and you can too.
