Welcome! Congratulations on your new addition. Don't beat yourself up. Like everyone said, take it slow. There's no hurry. I'm in the same boat yo-yoing with my weight but I'll get there.

NO EXCUSES

Welcome!! I know what you mean by having to keep starting over. But just try and keep going! If you ever need someone to vent to, I'm here. Venting can help!! And you can definitely find encouragement galore on this site! That's what keeps me going, even when I really don't want to! Good luck!!

Hi DRAGNFOG

Maybe you are too strict with what you are doing and your willpower will only let you hold on for that amount of time.

Try making smaller changes on just a few things at once.

For example set goals to eat 5 servings of fruits and veggies every day. Once you feel comforable with that move it up to 6 or 7 servings. Or work on a new goal. If you don't drink any water aim to drink 3 glasses everyday. Once you reach that and feel comfortable move it up to 4 glasses and so on.
The same with exercise work on doing 15 minutes of exercise everyday. Then when that feels comfortable add on 2 minutes or 5 minutes.

I have a chart that I track things like this - I have about 6 goals I am working on at once. I give myself little stars (the colorful sticky ones) each time I reach my goal during the day or week.

Don't forget to reward yourself.

make it fun and enjoyable.

Hope this may help you some.

Start off small and work your way up. When you do it this way it won't be so overwhelming and it will feel like part of your normal life. So then you won't have old habits to go back to. You will have new ones that you like.

"There's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." Morpheus in The Matrix

"Failure is only postponed success...The habit of persistence is the habit of victory." -Herbert Kaufman

Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do."

Welcome back! Yeah, I was wondering if you're trying to do too much when you first start out...start by making small changes and then build on them! Best of luck to you!

Take it slow. And keep adding things as you go. Then maybe it will just come natural. Wishing you the best.

If that is your pattern, try keeping a personal diary to see why you get to that place and quit each time. Maybe you can also give yourself a goal of 6weeks and then reward yourself for staying strong for that long. Maybe a weekend off eating diligently. Then tackle the next 4 weeks diligently as if it were a brand new start again.
Do it in 4 week increments instead of tackling the whole job if 4-6 weeks is how long you can be good for.

I will NOT run emotionally from compliments and hide in fat layers for protection.

Here I am once again trying to get this right for good. I am great for the first month to 6 weeks, then I go back to my old habits.
I have 3 children, 19 year old daughter, 4 year old daughter and a son born 2/24/10. I am hoping to get healthy to be around to drive my children crazy... I am looking for that light that goes off when it finally clicks, also for advice and a buddy to go through this with... emoticon
