It is a demon.... I had to detox from it. It was ruling my life at some point. Now I go there from time to time. I mostly focus on my running and have good and bad periods as far as food goes...

I've been encouraged to introduce myself, so here goes. I am a 60 year old pastor who joined Spark People in connection with a lap band surgery. I have lost more than 90 pounds since March 1. Starting weight 340, today's weight 247.

Lap band is not a magic pill. The way I lose weight is by diet and exercise, as my surgeon says "Diet and Exercise is the gold standard in weight loss." I have reduced my caloric intake by about 60%, and have worked my way up to walking 2.5 miles 5-6 days a week. I do most of the cooking in my family and have used some of the Spark recipes to good result.

I find that I have so much more energy. It is nice to be able to fit into theater seats, booths, sub-compact cars, etc. I live with my wife and my married daughter, her husband, and two of my grand children are living with me. So we have a very busy household and it's nice to be able to keep up with the grandkids.
