i didn't get any notice that Anyone replied and was feeling lost. Thank you for replying. I was doing good and now back to my regular bad eating. I just don't have the will power for some reason. I am trying to walk when it isn't raining here. I will try to do the measurements,

Just not very motivated for some reason. I know I need to, for my health and so I can be more active in my yard. I do have a goal for a year from now to go on a cruise for our 25 wedding anniversary. A cruise to Europe if it isn't canceled. I keep praying and giving it to God but, I am a yoyo as far as my eating/diet/weight. Trying to not put myself down, I think I am doing good in that area lol. I think I need a big kick in the pants to get back going.

Thanks again everyone! I almost left because I thought this team was too big to care about the .. well me.

Blessings & Love, Jetta :-)

Hi everyone! Checking in here for some accountability. I have gained weight over these last 6 weeks, and I'm so disappointed. I need my clothes to fit when I go back to work! I am still working from home, but too many opportunities to eat bad food.

Jetta, I'm so sorry about your losses to COVID-19. I have a family member who just recovered. It is nasty business.

Stay safe everyone!

Jetta: Rest assure you are more than the number on the scale and you are a great example in many other ways. Your weight is something you can work on losing.

This week, I'd like you to take 4 measurements of your choice like hips, waist, chest, upper arm or leg - the choice is yours. Every 2nd or third month, do the same measurements and enter in your personal journal along with your weight that day and your BMI.

Be mindful of what you eat and do some type of exercise if it's to be in 5 minutes or 10 minutes to start. I found some great videos on internet that are actually fun! Turn on the music and go for it! Don't forget to drink water.

We ate our way up emoticon and now we'll eat our way down. emoticon

Hello everyone. I joined this team to kick start me back to getting this weight off. I am at my all time high from the past 20 years and feel horrible. I hurt my back and couldn't move for 2 weeks plus all the worry and stress over this COVID thingy (losing friends from it) have added to my weight gain. I just have to get back on track. This weight is hurting my back more, my health and my poor bones. I am embarrassed about what I look like but have not had any will power to do something about it.

I am a team leader on another team and feel I am a poor example for everyone there. I know I need help with this and need to reach out so here I am, starting over from the beginning. I am 63 years old and weigh 260 emoticon

This is hard for me to reach out or to even admit, I am the caretaker and help everyone else.

Thanks for listening, Jetta

PEGGYR9: emoticon to our team! I believe you can reach your goal!

I suggest you try "THE 30-DAY PATEAU BUSTING challenge. I'm sure it will help. Let me know how your doing. You can also write "plateau" in the search bar at the right end of the top bar. This should lead you to other ideas and stories of how others have dealt with the same issue your having.

Good luck and emoticon emoticon You're an inspiration to me - same age emoticon

Good morning. I'm at a plateau for about 4 weeks so feel I must reevaluate my food and exercise plan going forward. I have lost 70 pounds in the last 13 months eating healthy keto. practicing Intermittent fasting 16/8 plan. I feel great and my blood pressure is averaging 116/75, dropped one BP medication. Due for my check up in May which will be the determination for dropping the other BP med. I have no other medical issues and want to keep it that way. :) Currently I weigh 182 (BMI 30) and heading to 144 (BMI 124) by August 1, 2020. I walk 3-5 miles each day and do a stretch routine and work out 3-4 times a week maybe 30 minutes each session. Yesterday, I celebrated my 26th wedding anniversary with my husband Jeff. I have 1 daughter, 3 step daughters and 4 grandchildren and 3 greats. I know, I was a child bride. Actually, I am 72 years young. I have always been fairly healthy but think I am in better health and fitness than I have been for 30 years. I want to continue on my journey to a healthy weight and fill like this forum will be helpful. Been a member of Sparkpeople since 2009 but have never taken full advantage of all the tools available. I have lost 6 inches around my bust, 7 inches around the waist and 10 inches from my hips. I journal just about every day, food dairy, exercise, and have been weighing once a month but feel once a week might be a better track. Here we go.

Wherever I go, that's where I will be.

Hi Mom,

I understand about taking measurements. Usually when I would quit on my weight loss journey was when I reached a plateau on the scales. I don't have a measuring tape now but will order one.

Hello Claudia. Warm welcome tour team!!! emoticon

On this team, we do not diet but eat healthy as per the food guide. emoticon We add some exercise and for some that don't do any we start slowly and increase as we feel we can manage more. emoticon

Setting goals is important: it's like a road map. We start at point a and as we go on our journey to losing weight we have a lot of steps to do to ensure we get to destination. So we break the smaller goal in a monthly or weekly goal.

As you are new to our team, I'd like you to look up your BMI( body mass index) I find it to be a great tool that tells us where we stand today and where we should be to reach our healthy weight. emoticon

Also, I find it important to take 4 measurements - I did upper thigh, arm and then waist and hips. Do 4 of your choosing and write them down in your journal . This is important because as you go, you may not find you're losing weight but you might be losing inches. I measure very 4 months.... and total my 4 measurements to see how much I've lost. emoticon

If you have questions we're all here to help. All you need to do is ask

Together emoticon

Hi my name is Claudia (Mr. Chambers was my cat's name) Over the last 5 years i gained 40lbs.
I didn't feel like this much weight gain was "normal" for me so I went to a doctor who tested my thyroid. When the results came back normal the doctor explained that the added weight was most likely due to menopause. (I accepted the hormones done me wrong theory because my boobs went from an A+ to DDD after menopause--even my GP thought I had gotten breast implants!)

More recently I have learned that medications I am taking, particularly antihistamines has been positively correlated to obesity. Of course another theory is that I simply sit on my bum too much! Whatever the reason, I want to loose the weight and keep it off. I tried over-eaters anonymous but the no carb/keto diet did not work for me. I do feel the tools I am learning from Spark along with the positive reinforcement from this group will work. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

KARENJP2020 and TXSASSY76: Very happy to have you join the team and looking forward to do this with you!
On this team we do not diet but eat healthy. It opens a whole new world of new veggies, fruits and recipes.
I ask all new members to look up their BMI - body mass index is a tool that tells you where you are and where you should be to reach YOUR healthy weight.
Also taking 4 measurements. EX; chest, waist, hips, upper arm, upper leg. This will be another check point as you may lose inches faster than weight depending on the exercise you do and your fitness level.

Hi, I'm Christina. So glad to have stumbled upon this team! Finally, found a team with ACTIVE members!!! I am not "new" to SP. But, I've fallen off the wagon a few times. I'm back though, and trying to stay focused and positive. In the past I've weighed daily (thinking I may be going back to that - as it seems to work best for me). I've been back on this journey for (this is week 2 now) and had originally decided to weigh in weekly. I lost 7lbs. the first week, and NOTHING this second week. (I did get off track for about 4 days). Which is why I feel like weighing daily is a HUGE help to me. Anyhow, glad to be here & I look forward to getting to know everyone here.

Hi everyone. I'm Mish & my goal is to go from 104 kg to 75 kg, giving myself 12 months to do it.
My BMI is 36.2.
I'm NOT impressed that I've let myself become this way.
Going to achieve this by making better food choices & upping my fitness program.
Portion distortion was also a problem.
I don't believe in denying myself, so when I have a indulgence, I'll have a smaller portion & only once a week.
I've become better at saying " No thank you" politely but firmly.
I like to weigh in once a week, usually on a Wednesday.
Looking forward to supporting everyone on their journeys

LIBROOKIAN: Hi Brooke! emoticon to our team.

On this team, we do not diet but eat healthy. I always suggest to new members to weigh-in, look up their BMI (Body Mass Index) - a great tool that tells you where you stand are and where you should aim to reach your healthy weight. Also to be mindful of what you eat - ice cream or ice milk, yogurt or no-fat yogurt? and mindful of portions size. We have monthly and weekly challenges, last-day -of -the-month weigh-in and much more.

Together emoticon Looking forward to learn from your experiences, too

Hello all!

My name is Sarah, I'm 34 years old, and currently living in frigid Alaska. I'm passionate about sports (specifically baseball, I'm a diehard New York Yankees fan!), all forms of art (specifically fashion, writing/journalism, and mixed media art journaling), alternative/punk/heavy metal music, living as cruelty-free and vegan as possible in all aspects of my life.

I'm back to using SparkPeople after a nearly 7-year hiatus due to weight gain from medication side effects and a serious exercise injury that still bothers me to this day... emoticon

So not only am I trying to lose the weight I gained, I'd like to lose a few more pounds on top of that, improve and diversify my fitness regiment, and improve/solidify my nutritional diet plan.

Hope to see you all around!

I have been hiding in the backgrounds of this team for a few days, just to see what is what. I'm hoping that it will work for me. I only have 20 -30 lbs to lose, but it is hard when you have to go it alone.

TERRY DAWN: emoticon to our now number and the one that you should strive to reach for a healthy weight. Take 4 body measurements and record those too as your beginning measures. could be waist, hips, upper leg and upper arm or which ever you prefer. This will be your staring point. In three months, you can do this again and see how many inches you have lost total and where you're at as far as BMI.

On this team I insist that we don't Diet but Eat Healthy. As a diabetic, you have your equivalency and should follow doctors order at a T. Losing weight will surely help you health wise. I'm sure you have already met with your dietician and please do this the safe way!

Hi, everyone! My name is Bob. I just came back to SP after a many year hiatus and I am looking to lose 28 pounds. I don't really believe in BMI, but right now mine is 28.7 (in the overweight range.) If I get down to 140 pounds again, I will be back in the healthy BMI range.

I have been tracking my calories again for several weeks and was able to very quickly see why my weight has been stagnant in the 160s for the last few years. I eat too much! So that's my main focus right now--lowering my caloric intake. I'm pretty good about moving. Last week I walked 128,000 steps, but it's the eating that I really need to master.

I can't wait to get to know you all and hop in on some challenges. It'll be great to be surrounded by people who are all working toward the same goals! emoticon

CATLADYINAPRIL; No you don't have to share any thing you don't want to. This is your journey and your BMI is for your personal info . I hope it will help you set a healthy goal.

I know I was shocked to see where I stood! For the first week just ease in to it while being mindful of what you eat, your choices, your portion size. Keep in mind you are not on a DIET but you choose to EAT HEALTHY. I encourage you to check your nutritional report after tracking your food for the day.

I'm here to help any of my Team members with any questions they may have. emoticon

emoticon to you CATLADYINAPRIL ! Happy you chose out Team. so we can do this together

We're mostly the same age but have more pounds than you to lose

First, I'd like you to look up your BMI - Body Mass Index. It will tel you where you are and where you need to be for a healthy weight.

Weigh-in tomorrow morning before eating or drinking anything and register your weight as your starting point. emoticon

On this site I do not use the word DIET ever but we choose to EAT HEALTHY.
We have weekly and monthly challenges, learn to set goals, have different post on nutrition, etc.

This week we will be mindful of what we eat. That is every choice we make.
Example: Are we eating ice cream bar or yogurt? - original or low fat?
Are we tasting while cooking? Every bit amounts to calories.
Are we tracking our food daily? Are we looking at the nutritional report daily?
Also this week: we will be mindful of our portion size. Do we overeat? What does our plate look like? overflowing? Is it a large plate? I purchase each a medium size plate as I found that the large one with smaller portion made it look like my plate was half empty - I know! It's psychological

It may seem a bit much but you'll see it's easily done emoticon

Hello, today is day one. I have been putting off weight loss for sometime now. I will be 71 years old and having medical issues the most important is high blood pressure. On 3 different medications. Over weight by 50 pounds. Thought I could do this alone, but finding I cannot this is hard work when you love to eat all the wrong foods. Also must start excising. Been really lazy with that. This is a new day and need some encouragement. I welcome any suggestions. Thanks

Hello, 1st day here and am hoping it will be a great helped. Weighed myself this morning and I am the heaviest I have ever been. Have been on SP for many years and consider myself a floater, as I haven't reach my goals. I am 76 years old, and at this age I need to really start watching my health. At 219 pounds I am in the obese rating and really need to make some changes. I try to stay active, but I have notice that this last year I have been sitting doing nothing more and more. I get short of breath really easily, even though I do have asthma, that is not the reason for shortness of breath, it is total due to the weight. I also suffer from debilitating migraines, at times, but do have meds, to stop them. I know I have to make some drastic changes and am willing to listen to anyone that has a suggestion .

Linda

CDT live on a country road near Alta, Iowa

I am going to watch the carbs.

I suggest you look-up your BMI - Body Mass Index. This will give you what your classification is now and where you should be.

emoticon Hello My name is Tineyjo and I am on a weight loss journey. I have lost a couple of pounds since I started this journey but still need to lose a lot more. I struggle like I am sure many people do but I also give up real easy if I don't see results but this time I am going to try and push my way till the end I started at 302 and am down to 258 since February which is ok the problem is though to me I do not see a difference and it keeps that nagging thought in my head well you are not losing weight so give up it's those triple fat rolls that get me everytime I look at my self in a picture or the mirror. I have to say I have come close to this but have not yet given up. I plan on keep going until I hit a nice weight, I have learned to only give myself the 10 or 20 pound limit at a time so I do not lose hope I will keep pushing forward and let you all know in time how it goes. emoticon

WNCGIRL: emoticon to our team. Happy to have you on board.

Can I suggest you take your BMI? It will give you the category your in ad where you should be as far as a healthy weight.

On this team I don't like to use the word Diet - it sounds restrictive and forbidding. I use the word Eating Healthy. which has a more positive note to it.

There are different challenges weekly: mindful eating - what we eat and how much we eat- portion size, emoticon then there's exercise emoticon and now drinking water. emoticon You can look each thread in the challenge and goal setting forum.

Speaking of goal setting; the big picture where you want to be, then broken in monthly and weekly. Choose a day you weigh in weekly and monitor your progress to meet your monthly goal. We have a November challenge just for that purpose and we'll have one monthly. Some weigh-in daily.

We have a LET"S TALK thread too in the discussion forum emoticon

emoticon I hope you'll find this Team helpful to get you where you need to be to stay healthy and prevent health issues.

DOT364 : I was reading your post below and I'm excited for you emoticon

Very smart of you to have a meal plan before eating out emoticon

I love the challenges a they keep us on our toes -lol. The first weekly was to be mindful of what we eat - choices we make; 0 fat yogurt or regular, fries or mashed potatoes or salad, do we eat our veggies, our fruit - a whole banana = 2 fruits etc

The second challenge was about being mindful the portion size of my meal. Well. I went to the dollar store and got me a smaller dinner plate than my set of dishes has. That helped me cut my portion without having the feeling of eating just half a plate when I cut the portions. I even bought a food scale. I now take time to measure and weigh.

I thank you for sharing. Together emoticon

Thank you for the warm welcome back. So I was excited to have a good day yesterday. I feared today was going to be a flop because we are meeting my parents, sister and brother-in-law to go out for a family celebration tonight. But....I think I have a meal plan mapped out that will help me stick to my goal.

I look forward to checking out the weekly and monthly challenges. The exercise thread is going to be my next resource to overcome my lack of motivation, especially now that winter has hit here in Minnesota. I know there are plenty of ways to get exercise in.....so my goal is NO EXCUSES this winter! :) I know my BMI is scary and I want to make some positive progress before my next dr appt in 3 months!

I will also join the Saturday weigh in. Thanks again.
