Hi I'm Susan and I started Spark People a year ago. It really helped me to stop gaining weight and gain some perspective. I am looking forward to this challenge and kickstarting my new year!

I'm Ruth from eastern Nebraska. I've been with SparkPeople since Jan of 2007. I was @ my lowest weight in June of that yr thanks to Sparks, but then my mom passed away that summer from complications caused by Alzheimer's. I slowly gained 1/2 the weight back I had spent 2 yrs losing. THEN I found out I've had several health issues contributing to my weight gain. Hormone imbalance, thyroid, & just recently, SLEEP apnea.

This next May our youngest graduates from high school. In June is my hubby's & my (we are high school sweethearts) 30 yr class reunion. Then in July, our oldest gets married! SO, I have MANY reasons to get healthy again & get the weight I gained back, OFF!

Hi, I'm Jenny.

I have been struggling with my weight since puberty. My most recent troubles began when I got a real job, teaching 300+ students at a University, then a family member younger than I died, then I was in a car accident and had emergency surgery on my neck. Each event added 10 lbs to my weight. I joined Curves almost 4 years ago and gained another 30 lbs (mono twice - yes, there is more than one type, you can get it more than once - and then the swine flu made me miss workouts) which I have successfully lost in the past two years. I still go to Curves 3 times a week and do Zumba at least twice a month. I am still following the meal plan recommended by Curves, but my most recent success is stopping my asthma medication (steroid) - I pushed through a plateau and lost that last 5 I was waiting for. So I'm back to where I was before I joined Curves, right after my surgery. I don't want to gain more weight and I still need to lose 20-30 lbs.

I hope this challenge will help me continue to maintain if not lose another 1-2 lbs in January and in the months beyond. Together we can do this. Go team!

Hello, My name is Sharon and I am from Massachusetts. I just signed up on SparkPeople and I am excited to start my first team challenge. I am committed to starting the new year with becoming healthier. I just completed my bachelor degree while working full time. Through the hours of working, school, studying, and becoming a new step mom I have had little time to give to myself. Now that my schooling is complete, I want to refocus my energy and time into my health and fitness. I have gained 65 pounds in the past 3 years, and I want this year to be a year when I get back on track. My first goal is to get these 65 pounds off and start fresh. I have an amazing support system, and I think that I can and will be successful in 2012!!!!! emoticon emoticon

Hi I'm Narda from Toronto and I've been on spark for a few years now. I've decided to finally commit to the plan and stick with it for the new year. So far I've lost 2 pounds doing that and I plan to continue to do so throughout the new year.

Hi I am Pam from Montana and I have been with SparkPeople for a long time but have not been serious with it. For health and other reasons I am going to get serious this year. I have joined a gym and I hope that will help. Not using the gym would be a waste of money and I don't like to waste money.

Hi,
I'm Laura, mommy of 3. My birthday is in Jan so this is my gift to myself. I need to star looking after me and feeling better. I weigh 25lbs more than I did when I was at full term with my 3rd child, and physically my body can't handle it. So I thought this would be a great way to kick off a newer, healthy version of me :)
Ive tried spark before but got pregnant and quit. This time no more babies, so no more excuses-lol. I think this jumpstart will help me stay accountable.
