Hi, My name's Raven. Most of my friends and myself consider me to have a sevre sugar addiction. Starting with drinks is the first thing I need to conquer. I do not drink water I can't stand it because it's flavorless. That to be said I drink soda's, juices, kool-aid, tea, anything but water. The little water I do drink is flavored and has aspertane which I don't mind but i'm well aware its bad for you. I usually go through 4-5 soda's a day and there was a point in time instead of just soda's along with that i had one or two energy drinks along with that. Also I have I candy sweet tooth not just for chocolate, something i don't consider sweet, or baked sweets, also something i don't consider to be sweet enough, I'm talking lollipops, gummy worms, pixie sticks, fun dip, baby bottle pops, and the like. When I eat sweets I eat super sweets. So its time i ton this down before I end up with diabetes which it may already be to late to curb that but at least i won't go insane when i can no longer have sugar. Plus i've done my math and my soda's and sweet drinks equals more than half of my calorie intake which is INSANE! So its time to do this right tomorrow I start trying to break this sugar addiction!

Hi there- I am Meghan and I am here to conquer my sugar addiction once and for all. I started seeing food as a reward or a way to make myself feel better at a very young age - it was just part of my families way of life. I am trying now to break that cycle with my son. We reward him with experiences and activities instead of food. I need to learn to not eat when I am bored or feeling emotional. I have been on and off the healthy eating wagon for a few years now but I am back on and holding on for dear life. I hope that this challenge can help me to find the keys to success in controlling my sugar problems.

Hi everyone, my name is Diana and I've been working out for about 4 months now. I have lost weight and some inches but I can't seem to stop craving sweets! I tried doing the 21 day no junk food challenge but on day 4, I can't control the cravings that I fell off the wagon. Now I feel like I am back to the beginning or worst.. I am disappointed with myself, thinking that all the hard work for the past 4 months are for nothing. I am planning to do this challenge starting tomorrow! Baby steps.. :)

Hi my name is Kasey Perkins,
I am a stay at home mom to my 5 boys. I am very excited to find Sparkpeople, I need lots of motivation. One of my biggest prob. is that I as soon as I eat I feel like I need something sweet. If I don't get something sweet I obsess about it till I do find something. I want to over come this obsession Looks like I am starting this challenge at the end of the week, but I am excited about overcoming this sweet tooth. I have a salty one that needs taken care of also. But I plan to start out small and work up to my bigger goal. Which is to completely give up Dr. Pepper. 1 Step at a time though. Happy Blogging

My name is Deborah and I love CHOCOLATE and ice cream. I could sit down and eat 1/2 gallon of ice cream in under two days. Diet coke is another weakness that I have. Some people drink coffee, I drink diet coke 44 oz. every morning. So far I have kicked the ice cream habit and replaced it with frozen fruit. I know that sugar is very bad for the body. It's going to take me one step at a time to get rid of the excessive soda - chocolate craving. I have eliminated most of the processed foods in the house.

My name is Marta and I am coming back to Sparks after several years. I am a sugar/carb junkie. I can go days without meat, but only hours with a sugar/carb fix. My favorite things are mini-Reese cups, Ruffle potato chips, and Ice cream, smothered in chocolate syrup. Then I need a Coke-Zero to wash it down. I have realized in the last 3 days, as long as I don't take in anything sweet, I don't think of it much. But, let me have one bite of anything sweet, and the cravings go crazy!!! I am counting on this group to keep me accountable.

Hi, I am back here after leaving Spark for a while because I was "too busy." Sugar addiction is my biggest problem. And the older I get, the worse it gets. I really want to stop fighting the same 5-15 pounds. I know having accountability partners work, so here goes!

I've got a Reese's problem. I could sit and eat any entire bag of the fun size ones people hand out on halloween if I allowed myself too. Lately it haas also been about tons of ruffles and french onion dip, but that is a different matter. It can however be tackled in much the same matter as my sweet tooth.

By carrying some paper in my pocket while I am at work (I can't have a cell phone) I can jot down what I'm doing, feeling and wanting when I get a food craving.

For me cutting back on sugar comes for a number of reasons;

one: I dislike a lot of the processed chemicals and such in much of the "food" that is a part of the standard American diet. Cutting back on processed sugar will help me kick other food addictions as well.

Two: it will help my fat loss goals I am at 33% right now I want to get down to 25% and then a bit more after that just to cut disease risks.

And three: I'll admit it, I have a personal vendetta against excess weight. It's like a fear, I suppose a rational fear given all the health implications of being obese, however I am uncomfortable with myself even though I am still considered "skinny" by most people. Hopefully during this process I can reflect upon why the idea of weight stresses me out so much and get a little insight on myself.

Never discourage anyone who makes continual progress, no matter how slow.

Hi there emoticon

My name is Jess and I am a chocoholic.

I'm also addicted to Diet Dr. Pepper. I can't go a day without drinking one, it's so terrible. I love salty sweet candies like snickers and take 5's. I could eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's Phish Food like it was nothing. I definitely need an intervention from all of this lol so maybe telling someone about it will help me do just that. This and emotional eating is the key to my weight gain.

Wish me luck~

Hi Team,
My name is Bob. I will sometime have a serious sweet tooth. I eat the cake part of a cake first so I can finish with icing. I really like jelly and have a weakness for cookies.
I look forward to cutting back on my sugar intake, to sharing my progress and to encouraging you on your efforts. Stop by my Sparkpage if you get a chance and say "Hi".

Hi, I'm Shelley and have trouble giving up pop also. When I quit drinking alcohol I replaced it with diet Pepsi. I've been trying for the last 14 years now to give up pop. I've decided I can have one a day. Sometimes I cheat, but not often emoticon (Which stands for "I love soda pop;)

My name is Amy and I am trying to cut extra sugar out of my diet. I'm especially having trouble with soda. It's such a hard craving to break. This first week I've been probably drinking more soda than I would normally. I guess gearing up for giving it up. I look forward to this challenge and hope that I am successful.

Hi! My name is Kristi. I'm excited for this challenge. Sugar is definitely my main issue. I feel like things are going really well right now, but I've only been on SP for a few days. I always tend to do well for a week or two, then relapse. I'm looking forward to working on this challenge before the sugar monster attacks next. :-) Also excited about a relationship with sugar where I can have a little and be satisfied. I think my kids are doing this with me. At least three of the four- they have an almost scary taste for sugar, to the point that if there are no other treats in the house, I've caught the 6 year old eating sugar from the baking cabinet. Not good.

Hi, my name is Sharon. I have detoxed from sugar in the past. I feel so much better when I don't eat sugar. The difference is so huge that it's amazing that I would eat sugar at all....until it's that time of the month or I get on a "kick". I know from experience that if I have not had sugar for at least two weeks, eating it turns me into a raging b***h. That means to me that sugar is just a bad drug. My true challenge will be holding up through my monthly cycle and bypassing one of my cravings that turns into a sugar kick. I don't have sugar cravings often, but when I do it turns into a sugar-fest so bad that I fear I'll actually give myself diabetes. Here's to tracking the success. Tracking works. I know this because I haven't had soda in almost two years. When I have the smallest urge I skip it because I've gone so long without already. My original no soda plan was only a two week personal challenge. It will be two years November 22nd.

Hi! My name is Kelly and I'm 38. I have about 10 more pounds to lose. I have been successful in my weight loss so far but have a huge sugar addiction that I need to break! Chocolate is my main problem. I would like to get to the point where it's an every once in awhile treat and not a daily necessity.

Hello my name is Janel. I am a severe sugar addict. Since I have been on my diet there have been times when my sugar cravings have been so bad I have literally started shaking uncontollably, my mouth dried and the feeling was just AWFUL! As I go along in my new lifestyle it seems the sugar cravings have worsened. I am terrified of what the upcoming holidays will bring. I have tried to focus on non-food experiences such as enjoying time with friends and family, doing crafts, etc. however, there always seems to be some sort of sweet treat involved and whenever I decline its as if my friends are offended for turning away their yummy baked goods. I want to be able to eat 1 cookie and feel satisfied and not one to pull out 10 more. I want to eat one piece of chocolate and say I can do this! I dont need anymore. I just feel like I am 1 cookie away from falling off the edge of a cliff. My heart wants to do this but my body says if you dont have sugar I am going to torture you until you do. It is terrible.

Janelen

I'm coming back to SparkPeople and thought getting rid of my sugar demon seemed to be the first step.
I had maintained my weight and now it's creeping back up and I know that my "demon" is the cause.
I need to lose about 35 more pounds and need all of the help I can get.
Thanks for the tools.

Hi, everyone! My name is Laura. I am 50 years old and have 100 pounds to lose. I am just starting Chris Powell's Carb Cycling program. I could eat sweets all day long...especially if they are combined with fats, like ice cream and chocolate. I am really looking forward to successfully mastering this challenge and getting to know all of you! Have a great day, everyone!

Hi my name is Evelyn and I am taking this challenge because I rather eat sweets for a meal
than food. When I do eat sweets for a meal I justify it by telling myself it is okay because I replaced a meal. This challenge will be hard for me because I crave sweets all the time.

Hello all! I am joining this challenge because I have been losing/re-gaining the same 3-4 pounds for over three months now. I need to bust out of this plateau, and I realize cutting sugar might be the solution... It will be very hard because I have such cravings! I look forward to this challenge.

Hi. My name is Vickie and I'm a sugaraholic. :) It's nice to see others with this same problem so I realize I"m not completely crazy (like my family thinks).

It's so frustrating when you feel you can't pass by the donut or cookie. I"ve realized that fast food is the same way (must be tons of sugar in it). I have to include fast food at the same time as sugar or it won't work for me. They trigger each other.

I've been on Sparks since 2006. It's like an old reliable friend. Always there when I need it to pick me up and get me back on track. I realized that maintaining is harder than losing once you get into the cycle. That was a surprise for me and is my next challange. I finally got back on full track w/ eating and exercising this week (took months of falling and being drug behind that wagon before I could tie myself in).

I injured my foot over a year ago and it's finally back to 90% and I can exercise again. I feel hungry all the time if I don't exercise and gained 25 pounds in last 1 1/2 yr. Now it's time to shed that and start feeling better.

If you don't love yourself....how can you expect others to.

Hey everyone! My names Chelsea and I live in Kentucky. This is my first time using Spark people but I love the way it's set up and all the support I've found on here. I have hope again and I'm so excited to start my weight loss journey with you all.
I have a serious problem with sugar, I crave it on and off all day EVERY day, I'm also a compulsive eater so that makes everything more difficult because I don't realize I've just started to take a bite of ice cream until its almost in my mouth and at that point I think what the heck why not. I hope through this site and this team I can start to control my eating habits and get away from the sugar. It's nice to know I'm not the only one who is struggling with this.
I wish everyone luck!

Keep on Keepin on

I have belonged to the sweet tooth challenge before. After reading, yet another article on sugar and how it affects us, I have decided to try again to eliminate sugar. I have almost been a week without sugar and then, this appeared on my table.

Last night we were out for dinner at a Friends restaurant and he brings us a free dessert.
I thought, oh know, not what. He was off serving other customers so my DH ate most of it. I just ate 1 bite.

On Sunday we are having lunch with our " Lunch Bunch" as we call them. We get together about every 2 months. There will be dessert . Wish me well.

Hey everyone! I'm Angie and sugar/sweets are my absolute weakness! I can have a really great day of eating and blow it with a sugar craving. I am adopted with a few diabetic characteristics but obviously unsure of my family history. So I really fear becoming a diabetic and I know I need to get this sugar addiction under control. Looking forward to this challenge. I love making new friends and getting to know new people so feel free to stop by my page and add me!

Hi there. I'm Aimee. I used to be on sparkpeople and then i stopped doing this because i got busy. But i got back on here thanks to the August challenge. I want to finally drop the weight i've been holding onto. I'm hoping to get from my new start weight which is 195lbs to 140 again. I feel like i can do it. I'm working again and i'm taking cycling so i'm hoping to lose 20lbs by the end of the year. I'm lactose intolerant, but i take pills so i can eat anything with milk and even though most people would say that their thing is ice cream, cheese is my favorite. So i hope to get support and lose the weight. I've been tracking my food and my exercise so i'm hoping for the best. :)

Hi! My name is Janis. I decided this would be a team for me to join. I need to control my sweet tooth. I eat far too many and I know that isn't healthy. Last year I lost 31 pounds on spark people. I need to get back on track. I do feel I can do it here. emoticon

I just joined this challenged in hopes of cutting out sweets. I'm not the type of person who can just have one bite every now and then. I crave sweets all the time until I get them and then I eat them until it's all done. I usually over eat when it comes to sweets. The first bite tastes so good so I have to have more. And this has to stop. I need to just cut them out. Until I have reached my ultimate goal; they need to go.

WE CAN DO THIS!

Hi! I thought this would be a great challenge for me. I don't necessarily crave sugar all the time, but some yes.... but what does happen is when I start to eat something sweet and sugary, I don't stop until either a) its gone or b) I'm full. And that is said with all honesty. I once was in a weight loss challenge, and the person in charge said that all people in challenge should "quit sugar". And that is what I am hoping for with this challenge. Maybe not totally, but somewhat...

Hello! I just joined the site, and decided to start a challenge. And why not join a challenge to defeat the sugar cravings?! I used to be a sugar addict. Now, I am not that extreme, but I still do crave the sweets. However, I have been cutting back. As I can recall, I haven't had the sugary deserts for awhile now, so I think I am off to a good start. I am hoping that this challenge will help me not only for the four weeks but for the future to come emoticon

Hi Everyone!

My biggest challenge is SUGAR...sweets of all kinds. Like any dedicated Junkie, I had sugary snacks hidden all over my home and office.

I am the person that single-handedly, threw off the bell-curve in the study "The average American consumes _pounds of sugar each year.

As of today, all my stashes were tossed into the trash...and tomorrow is garbage day! :)

Glad I found this challenge, and look forward to reading more info and having spark-friends to keep me motivated!

If you're tired of starting over, then stop giving up!

Hi everyone! I just joined this website, and, as my username suggests, I'm a big fan of cake. I'm trying to learn to control my sugar cravings better. I tend not to buy sweets, but whenever I do buy them or I'm around them, I tend to go nuts and eat way more than I should. Chocolate cake is one of my biggest weaknesses. Well... and peanut butter cups too. Ok ok, most anything with chocolate in it; let's not lie.

I find that it's easier to control myself when I eat fruit or drink hot cocoa instead, so maybe that will lead to success! Let's do this!

Hi everyone. I have always been a sweet eater. I am hoping to deal with that now while I am focusing on weight loss.
Have a great day.

Hi Susan. My husband is the same way. He is skinny as a rail, so he doesn't have to worry about his weight. So I make healthy dinners and try to stay away from the unhealthy stuff, and he eats it right in front of me. But I can't really blame him since he doesn't have weight issues and he didn't put me in this position. I did. So I have decided that I will have to get myself out of it without his help. I have tried a few things, including creating his own cabinet that I tried to keep all of his junk food in so that it would be separate from mine. Unfortunately, that really didn't work. It helped when I would go into the pantry so that I wouldn't see it, but as soon as he started eating the things from the cabinet I wanted them, too. I have just gotten used to it. I do keep some treats in the house now, but I keep them in individual servings. That way when I want a treat I eat a small portion and not the whole container. Good luck!
