i'm more than happy to help you if you want to try. we have a very active team on Spark called Team Keto! that has very dedicated people on it. I'm a co-leader as well as a man who has been on keto long term, and has his diabetes and IBS under control with it.
I'm happy to send you my keto 101 class handout, which gives you the basics. and we share recipes there all the time.
dont hesitate to ask if you want to look it over!

i sure didnt think i could...and if i had a nickel for every time i heard someone say they couldnt, and then did, i'd be rich.
the best of all is how good you feel doing it. i was determined it wasnt going to work. i started oct 2016, swearing it was just till thanksgiving then i'd take christmas and thanksgiving off and maybe start again in january...only...by the time thanksgiving came i was finding ways to stay on it.
i make bagels and keto bread. use zucchini for pasta. pasta was something i had 2-3 times a week EVERY week. now if i have real pasta it tastes awful to me. i miss fruit and potatos, but have found ways around the fruit (rhubarb if cooked right tastes like fruit..zucchini with cinnamon and butter tastes like apples. i can have small amounts of sugar free pumpkin pie that i make. cranberries taste like fruit again if you cook them right. its not perfect but it satisfies the want)
i teach keto beginner and cooking classes at the local cooperative extension adult center. people walk in saying i could never...my doc told me to check the class out but i have no intentions of giving up bread pasta fruit sugar, etc. they leave with a whole new thought, because i show them how it IS pleasant and satisfying. and how you can sub almost everything for something very low carb. after 3 years i still dont have what to me is a good sub for potatos..but theres so many other things to have i just ignore that urge. and i did taste a tiny bit of mashed potato at christmas. amazing how your tastes change..it reminded me of wallpaper paste....lol!

Yes, those are family pictures on my bag. My dear daughter had it made for me. glad you like it.

I do not know if I could give up bread & pasta. I do not eat much meat or dairy products. That is a great weight loss!

Karen is that a photo bag?? how gorgeous is that!!! and so lucky you are to have grands. i have 3 grown kids.and i think i will probably just have to be happy with that!!

i always just put that i have lyme, but when i see you all putting the osteoarthritis i think i'd best do the problems FROM lyme too..

i too have osteoarthritis. a total knee replacement and needing the other leg done. Cardiac arrythmias from they lyme. chronic unrelenting pain. i dont think about them so much as i've had them all since i was 30..when i was first bitten and noone knew what lyme was so i lived with it untreated for 3 years..by then it couldnt ever be cured i just get lovely periods when i'm "in remission". strangely enough,,,the keto diet has helped with the pain and the heart arrythmias, too. was a good day for me when my son suggested it to me, though i own a bakery and its hard to bake bread and not have any!! but i've found subs for almost everything forbidden, and i dont at all miss the 150 pounds lost due to it, or the glowing medical reports i'm getting for the first time in 40 years!!

so glad to see people posting on this team!!
