Angel Kitty #3, #5, and #8

Harley, Missy and Sonny came from the same litter of a feral cat that called our shed (in Wisconsin) her home. We called the mother cat "Baby Mama" and she had two litters before we could trap and spay her. We socialized the kittens from both litters while they lived in the shed. Baby Mama was true feral and would always be. We found good homes for the first litter of 5. The second litter of 3, which were born in September, was harder to adopt out and we refused to bring them to a shelter to be euthanized. So we brought them in the house (before the cold winter hit) to join our other 5 indoor cats. Harley was named after the Wisconsin-based motorcycle, because her purr was so loud. Not sure if there was a specific reason for the name Missy. Sonny was the spittin' image of his mama (brown tabby with a bob-tail), so his name was easy to decide.
We had 8 house cats when we all moved from Wisconsin to Tennessee in 2005. All the cats adjusted to our home fairly fast. They all would remain house cats only because of all the wild animals (coons, skunks, coyote, fox and even a bobcat) in our area. It is just too dangerous to give the cats access to the outdoors.
These 3 cats all had a thyroid condition and lived out their lives in a safe, loving home. Harley died in 2012 at age 10. Missy died in 2015 at age 12. Sonny died in 2017 at age 15.

Living Cat #1
Chubber was adopted from the humane shelter when she was just a kitten in 1999. My then 6 year old son wanted his own lap kitty and he chose a tuxedo kitten with a white tip on the end of her long black tail. My son originally named her Dipstick, but that name was changed to Chubber by my 2nd husband when she got fat. Much to the dismay of my son, Dipstick did not like to be held. She preferred to climb onto the ductwork in the ceiling of the basement where it would be hard to get her down from. Even nowadays at age 18, Chubber is a loner and prefers to live alone in the bedroom, away from the general population of cats that share our home. She gets human interaction at bedtime and for short periods throughout the day. Occasionally one of the other cats will sneak into the bedroom, but as long as they stay off the bed (her throne), Chubber tolerates their presence in the room. These other cats usually want out of the room after they check out Chubber's food bowl. Since this is how she likes it, Chubber will continue to be Queen of the bedroom for her remaining days on earth.

Nanook started his life in a barn. My friend gave him to me in 1999 when my 11 yr old son wanted one for himself. Nanook was pretty much a lap kitty since he moved into the house and out of the cold barn. He also loved to snuggle with the other cats. He was definitely a lover, not a fighter. I never saw him involved in any altercations. He earned the nickname "Uncle Nook" because of his sweet disposition. Nanook died in 2017 at the age of 18.

Fluffy was MY first cat ever (I had been a dog person previously). In 1999, my psychiatrist recommended getting a cat to help combat the clinical depression I was plagued with following a major stroke. I was back at work (part-time) when a co-worker mentioned that he had a beautiful, young, Maine Coon cat that was a stray he needed to find a home for. I decided it was worth a try and that was the start of my road to recovery and my love of cats. I was a single mother at the time and my sons wanted their own lap kitties, too. After more cats were added to the household, Fluffy was definitely the "Alpha Male", keeping the peace with just a look while towering over the other cats, yet he remained very sweet. When I married my second husband (who had 2 female cats of his own), he nic-named him Elvis, because Fluffy was The King. Head to tail, Fluffy was about 3 feet long and weighed 17 pounds. He was a Hoss! He died in 2012 at age 13. He is greatly missed.

So nice of Pepper to wait until she get in the house again to puke on your carpet. Our Max sometimes gets hairballs if I do not keep him brushed well enough and always pukes on our carpet. Maybe they are related!!!

Pepper appeared out of a cornfield near a county highway in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1996. She was a very young kitten and my DH says he saved her from getting run over. Since that day she has been "Daddy's Princess". She will sit next to me on the sofa sometimes, but never gets on my lap. Her favorite spot is between Daddy's legs on the sofa foot rest. Pepper is our only cat that tries to run out the door. If she succeeds in getting out, she runs straight to the grass and eats as much as she can before we bring her back in the house (where she pukes on the carpet soon afterwards). At 18 yrs old she shows no sign of slowing down.
Update: Pepper died at the ripe old of 20 in October of 2016..

My DH got Boo Boo in 1990, in Florida, from a neighbor whose cat had kittens. She was an albino British Shorthair that won many blue ribbons in various cat shows around the world. She had beautiful white fur, pink skin and emerald green eyes. When I met my DH in 1999, Boo Boo would hiss whenever I got close enough to touch her. She warmed up to me somewhat over the years, but mostly just tolerated me (probably because I fed her tuna). She died in 2007 at 17 yrs old.

No, my name is not Sybil, nor do I have multiple personalities. My name is Jan and I currently have 17 indoor cats.
Rather than introduce them all properly in one huge posting, I will dedicate a single reply to each cat. For right now, you should know that most of them are rescue kitties. Their names are: Pepper, Nanook, Chubber, Sonny, Missy, Teenna, Cabo, Sammy, Pooh Bear, Mimi, Junior, Cali, Poppy, Izzy, Maya, Dondo and Spot. I must also mention my 4 angel kitties: Boo Boo, Fluffy, Harley and Biff. I will make introductions in the order in which my DH and I became worthy enough to care for them.

Update: I left SP in 2015 due to my father passing away and temporarily having to care for my mother with Alzheimer's. Now that I'm back, I think I will finish off this list. We currently have 12 House cats and 9 Angel Kitties. I am listing the cats in the order in which they became part of our family. When you see "Angel Kitty #?"... the number listed is the order in which the cat left for the Rainbow Bridge.
