I agree about the will power. You need motivation to succeed, not self-shaming. Your life is a journey and you took a side road that led to being less healthy than you want to be. Time to get back to the main highway. You didn't get to your current place overnight, so don't expect to get back on track overnight. Take it one day, one meal at a time, and if you falter, get back on track immediately and the damage done will be minimal. Don't give up in your quest for a new and healthier you. You are important and you deserve to be healthy but no one can do it for you. Educate yourself as to what will help you the most and strive to accomplish that. My current program has me achieving my goal weight in 2017 (hardly a speedy race to the finish). Your program (a program that you select, not one imposed upon you) may take a shorter time, or a longer time to achieve your goals, and then the next goal will be to maintain your achievements for the rest of your life. Good luck on your journey. Check in here often to share your successes and your momentary setbacks.

I agree about the whole will power idea. Every time someone tells me to push back from the table, I want to slap the crap out of them. I eat less than just about anyone I know, very seldom ever go over 1500-1600 calories a day. I gained 5 pounds last year.

"Will Power" is pretty much a fantasy in my experience.... LOL
What you probably should be looking for instead is one key reason for you to take care of yourself!! Have a good chat with yourself...and think about reasons you need to or want to do this.... family? friends? fear of what will happen if you don't? some place you want to visit before you become too sick to do so? Danged angry that this is happening to you...and danged determined it ISN'T going to get the better of you? Someone who fired you up by saying you can't do this?....

Whatever it is...latch onto it, face it every day...make your decisions based on that motivation. Challenge yourself to do something EACH DAY which is good for you and something else EACH DAY that you enjoy....

You already probably know what you need to do to be healthier...so Just Do It! If you don't know...then start reading at least one article a day...learn how you can improve your health.
And, make one decision at a time to do it....

With your liver out of sync, you have another mountain to climb because your metabolism is off. First advice, cut yourself some slack. I helped myself a lot [polycystic liver and kidney disease, Stage 3 renal failure] by going part-time vegetarian last January and cutting out pork completely. I eat meat and poultry very sparingly, almost no dairy. Giving up all my cheese was a big thing but all the fat you can take out of your diet means less fat your liver has to process. I use just a bit of hard cheese to garnish a few things. Eggs and fish are good proteins for me but largely I depend of peas and beans. My liver profile is mid-normal for the first time in 20 years. Good luck to you.
