Welcome to a healthier Lifestyle!! Spark has some really great resources--and wonderful folks who share their experiences. Not everyone's plan will be what you want: take what you need....
The DASH Diet could certainly work quite well; use the Nutrition Tracker to follow your daily intake, and balance of nutrients.... If you put Dash Diet in the search above (magnifying glass...) there are several Teams of people working with it. one is: (see below...)

Personally, I have never followed a written plan that goes by any "diet" name: just the advice of a dietician some years ago when I was diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes. Portions and Balance of carbs/protein/fats/fiber have been my best allies in keeping off the original 20 I needed to lose....still working on NOT gaining back any, and really should lose some more....!

I also love being able to track my exercise on here; and have read many of the articles, etc.
Jump right in...I dont' think you'll regret it!!

It's a silly time to start any kind of diet, right? But there will always be a reason not to start, every month has some holiday or event that interferes starting anything, December - Christmas, January - New Years, Avoiding News Resolutioners, February - Ground Hog's Day, Valentines Day, March - St Patricks Day, Easter, April - Tax Day, May - Memorial Day, June - MinervaCat's Birthday, July - Independence Day, August - Women's Equality Day, September - Labor Day, October - Halloween, November - Thanksgiving and it all starts over again.

I am in my mid 40s and tired of being overweight. This year I made the very difficult decision to stop coloring my hair and let the natural hombre of silver and black grow out; my hair is very long and it will be a long growing out process, about 2-3 years. To go with my new hair, I need a new body. I know the normal process is the other way around, but I've never been normal.

I am also thinking about using the DASH diet. Can that be used with the sparkpeople page?
