Hi BETTERLIFE05!

It's fine to be a lurker. emoticon You can always jump into a conversation anytime you want, or just read and learn. I am sorry to hear you have some health issues starting. Sounds like that may be good motivation to improve your eating and fitness habits. Being in your 30s is so young and so great! Making improvements now will pay off for a long, long time. You can do this!!!

Hi everyone!

I'm not new to Sparkpeople, but I did create a new account. I've got around 140-ish lbs to lose, and I struggle with consistency. Unfortunately, I'm starting to notice some major health issues related to carrying around too much weight, so I'm hoping this will help keep me on track, because I'm only in my 30's and want to be around for many more years!

I do tend to be more of a lurker instead of a poster, but I am looking forward to reading what everyone posts! I'd love to make some friends on here, too

It sounds like you have some big, exciting things happening in your life. Congrats on the new job and upcoming wedding. I would love to go to Hawaii! You can do this! Just set small goals for yourself as you get started, learn to accomplish them and then move on to the next set of goals.

Wishing you all the best!

Hi I'm Barb. I have a few reasons to want to lose weight this year. First, I am starting a new job soon and I am quite a bit older that most of the people there. I know if I drop some pounds I will be much more confident. Also my son is getting married this summer in Hawaii, and I certainly want to be looking and feeling better for the big event.

I've been on a roller coaster with my weight forever. Ready to get off of it, and be on steady healthy ground.

Hi! emoticon

I'm Mary, just turned 40 and I'm rocking it.

I used spark years ago and love the point system motivation. Stepping on the scale yesterday I realized I really need to adopt some healthier habits. Keto is my preferred lifestyle diet because it reduces my inflammation which makes my allergies and arthritis more tolerable. My doctor supports this diet for me, though I haven't been low carb for several months, instead switching back to the standard american diet, mostly due to motivation issues and routine disruptors. I never used keto in the past for weight loss, instead opting to eat a bit more calories on it (per doctor's order) to help keep my anxiety disorder in check. Returning to the keto diet, this time with a focus on weight loss, in addition to inflammation reduction (still working with my doctor on all of this).

I'm getting shorter. I went from 5' 2.5" (always claiming that half inch) to 5' 1". emoticon

I saw this by someone else. It was a history of her weight. I liked it, so here is mine.

2011 - 165 (barely obese at 5' 2.5") That was an eyeopener!
2012 - 158
2016 - 158 (Told to lose weight for health reasons. The same year I found out I was 5"1")
2017 - 130.4
2018 - 122.2
2019 - 137.0
Today - 128.4

There were lots of ups & downs.

I have been enjoying my retirement from teaching. I babysit 2 of my grandchildren, ages 15 months and 3 yo. I live near the other 2 grandchildren,15 yo twins and get to see them more often. It's nice to be freer to see them and be able to help out. I also have 2 very special dogs.
Australian cattle dog, Ryder and Mini Poodle, Colman. They are how I get most of my walking done. I am involved in the music at our church and lead a Sunday school discussion group. Life is good except for one very important thing. My husband of 37 years has kidney cancer. He had his first immunotherapy last week. It is not as hard on you as chemo, but it sure wiped him out.

I am happy for the weight I lost. When I joined Spark People the first time in 2011, I was obese. Now I am back and have a few pounds to go!!

Hi, not new to spark, but starting fresh. In the last 8 months my life has completely changed, that in itself is another story. I am 59 and pretty much on my own and starting over. This is a journey of self love and getting back to me. I am the person who put my own life on a back burner, and made sure everyone else had their needs met.

But it's all changed and now it's about me. Taking care of me, let's face it, if I don't there is no one else. It's time.

I look forward to meeting you and sharing our journey through the good times, as well as the not so good times. I truly believe we can do this, whether it's day by day or minute by minute.

Dottie

Hi, everyone! I'm new to SP again, so I guess that means I'm not literally new, but I like to see how SP has grown and changed for the better over the years, so I want to reacquaint myself with what's available. On another topic, where can I find those cute trackers that everyone has?

Hello from TriItBaby,
I've been here before, but like many, life just got in the way. So, for me today is day number one. Of course, tomorrow might be too! I just mean I never want to give up trying even when I feel I have let myself or other's down.

So, my goals: Sleep through a whole night; get to a weight where I don't have to hold my breath to tie my shoes; feel comfortable enough to join a local running group.

Another day older. Another day bolder.

Hi All! I'm Lora. This is my second time here at SP. I'm 60 and have tried every eating plan out there and I could never find anything that was sustainable because I couldn't eat a lot of my favorite things. (which weren't all bad. Things like fruits, beans, a bit of pasta) I have 85 pounds to lose and just bought an elliptical/bike combo that I have been using consistently for a week. I am enjoying it. I live on 7 acres in the country right off a major highway so walking was out for me. Anyway, I'm thrilled to be here and look forward to getting a handle on my life!

Hi Sparkies: I am restarting with you all. I am 83 yrs young and hoping this will help me to better my life. I have abut twenty pounds to lose. I did it once but didn't learn my lesson.
I pray I will continue with this program after reaching my goal. I'm in fairly good health. I praise the Lord for that. Nice to be with all of you Sparkies.

A number of years ago I joined SparkPeople. The program was different then. I kept my sink shining, and did different jobs every day. It was a great program and I miss it. My sink is still clean, though not shiny. Still make my bed every morning, even though the dog objects. Tried to reboot one time, but life intervened.
Now I'm starting all over again. Have already lost some weight, but need to lose a bunch more. Looking forward to using the food tracker. It was a huge factor in reaching my weight loss goal the first time.
Wishing each of you will accomplish your goals and be proud of yourselves.

Hello everyone!! I'm fairly new to SP, I was a member back when "The Biggest Loser" show first came out. I've been doing WW for a little over 2 years and lost 50lbs. Started to get a bit bored so I figured I would change things up a bit. I'm navigating through all the forums and there are a ton to chose from. My biggest down fall is exercising. I HATE it, but I know it's good for you in so many ways. Hoping to meet some new friends and get my ass back in gear with the exercise

Hello fellow sparkles. Im in Melbourne Australia. I stumbled across the site yesterday after a long search for a site that offered encouragement and support. Love love love how everyone is so supportive and encouraging.
I joined the 21 day challenge yesterday. After reading some truly aspirational messages from other users i hit the gym (i live in a serviced apartment with a health club downstairs) i did 1 hr of tread and cycling. Something i have been wanting to do but was self conscious about till yesterday.
I weigh approx 104 kilo. I need to loose roughly 20 k. With the sypport of the lovely people on here i know i will do it :) emoticon

Hello peoples, 👋 My name is Theresa.
I’m not actually new to SP. I once was here several yrs ago. Since being gone I gained 100 lbs. So I’m here again to lose weight n get healthy. I have Familial Parkinson’s disease mine is hereditary. I watched it take my Grandfather n 2 yrs ago took my Dad. So I know how important it is that I continue to move. Then recently, as in last month 6/19 I had a heart cath, I have a 30% blockage. So here I am needing to change my lifestyle. Keep a Sparkin!

Popping in to say hello from TN. I did Spark a few years ago and fell away. Came back with a new account and better attitude and determination. I started out at about 251 lbs last summer. Got down to 235 by November. Now I'm at 209 lbs. My goal is to get to 135 to 140. I'm only 5' 3" so that's a good weight for me. My doc and I agreed. So, that's where I'm heading.

I joined a small local gym about a month ago. I do a lot of walking on the Treadmill. A little machine shy yet but I do a few every time I go in. I like the thigh machines cause they're helping to strengthen my lower back. And I do sit-ups. I also have an Elliptical at home I try to use on rainy days.

I'm 65, retired...living with the love of my life... David. He's as skinny as a rail, but not very fit. I get him to take a walk with me about once a week. We've got a favorite cafe not far away that we go to.

Hello to all you newbies. Wishing you lots of success. Keep going! You can do this!

Hi, my name is Jamie from IL. I’m 42 yrs old with a wife and 11-yr old son. I’m not new to SparkPeople, but I had to create a new account. My goal is to lose 100+ pounds. My son, being a dancer, is very active. But I’m not setting a good example of what foods we should be eating. He is my #1 motivation right now. :)

Hello - I'm Helen and I'm still learning to navigate the site. So far I'm liking the plan and the daily activities are helping me stay on track. I think I need to print articles to read on the weekends when my motivation is waning! I live with my hubby and two cats, I'm 63 years old and I need to loose 45 pounds for my heart health (and to fit into my clothes again!). If anyone lives in the upper willamette valley I'd love to have a walking partner!!

Greetings everyone! I was a member of SP ages ago, but I drifted away and forgot my old username, and password, and what email I used lol

I don't have any specific goals, only that I want to lose weight, and be there for my daughter as she grows.

I look forward to expanding on, and eventually reaching my goals.
