Good morning all.
New to the team, and newly back to SparkPeople.
Happy Monday.

A bit about me. 45 yrs old (on thursday)..
I am a recovering bulimic/binge eater on a journey of health & happiness.
Just coming off of a relapse and newly ready to take care of me again.
If anything, I am taking some positives from this relapse, and growing and learning.
I now have a brand new baby granddaughter (first time grandmother) which I am excited about.
Learning to love myself from the inside out.
On Thursday, also I will be joining weight watchers for some structure.
I have portion distortion bigtime right now, so structure will be a very good thing for me.
I did try keto for the last while, but unfortunately the high fats aren't good for me right now with the health problems I have been facing (heart & lungs)..
So, some balance, better portioning and good 'ol exercise, along with positive, like-minded friendships is what I am surrounding myself with, along with active recovery work.

Feeling ready, and looking forward to getting to know people here.
Thanks for having me,

-sylvie

Hi! My name is Danny. I was born on Glasgow, Scotland, but now I live in Mexico City, Mexico. (My husband is Mexican).

I was a processed/fake food addict and now I've been off of frankenfoods and added sugar for over 2 years.

Around last September I started a #Keto lifestyle and i'ts doing wonders for me. All real food, all the time. If someone isn't sure about what keto is, well, it's about eating very few carbs (less than 20 grams for me), moderate protein and a LOT of fat (good, fat, not fake fat like margarine or canola oils, I mean butter, avocados, coconut oil...)

Right now I'm working on losing around 30 lbs, training to run 5 km with the C25K program, and finding myself.

I look forward to meet everyone and good luck with your goals.

DaNnY!

Thanks for the Invite yesterday! I live in Camden, IN but born and raised in southern Cal. I am Keto and going on 17 months as such. I have lost 103 lbs but gained about 10 that I am working on being refocused! I have at least 100 lbs to go.

I am trying to be more active and motivated!

I have been with Sparkpeople for like 4 years or so but only really got fully involved when I started my Keto program through my doctor 09/15/16, I am in 2 other groups that do seasonal challenges, Biggest Losers as an Indigo and 5% Challenge as a Champion in the Kitchen.

I will do my best to get to know everyone and try to be involved. Right now my only computer is at work so I sneak on when I can!

Thank you for the invite. Born and raised in Washington state..moved to north central WA about 13 yrs ago when I met my husband.

I have been with SP for a few years now. Last summer I switched to low carb/Keto. Still trying to find a balance that works best for me where I don't have to be a food nazi.

to our team Linda and Deborah.

Linda....I too have been on SP for many years and still struggle with those last 5-10 pounds. If it was easy everybody could do it. We just have to hang in there.

Deborah....What a beautiful name (that's is my daughter's name as well). Love the view that you have from your corner of the world. Hope this year brings you joy and success.

It's great to have you both on board and I'm looking forward to getting to know you both better.

Hi I'm Deborah from Guntersville, Alabama!

(view from my corner of the world in photo)

I was on SparkPeople years ago and almost hit my goal weight, then 'life hit with some major destructive issues'....the pounds I lost found me and more.

BUT God has been doing a wonderful restorative healing the past 3 years or so and I've now determined that THIS year is the year to ditch the weight once and for all.

My plan is less C.R.A.P. foods and more plant-based options. not leaving out any other food groups but portion control and a goal of 80-85% plant options is the plan.

Lost 8 pounds in January and a long weigh ( pun intended) to go!

Thanks for the invite Marj .... I look forward to getting to know some of you better.

Hi! My name is Jan and I live in Mishawaka, IN. I need to lose 20 - 30 pounds and need to get my motivation back. I am currently participating the 5% winter challenge and though I am not on track to make my goal, I have lost and am going in the right direction. I think this team will help me stay on track with my food choices.

Hello Everyone, I am new to this team and started Spark just a few days ago. I am married to a wonderful supportive husband and we have two dogs that keep us busy. I have to use a walker, so I am not getting much exercise, but will work on this in the future.
Keeping track on Spark and participating on the topics and Challenges are very helpful. I hope we get some more members here to join in too. emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm fairly new to spark people. I started out good and then life happened and I stopped logging on. My son had broken 3 toes and we got plagued with illness pretty bad over the last few months. No excuses just sharing. Anyway, I am back and ready to start again. I had seen the message in my spark mail and check out your page which sparked my interest. So here I am. I am 38, married, with two wonderful kiddos aka twinadoes that are 3 years old. We have a 90lb rottweiler and two cats. To say the least we have a very busy household! I work full-time as a clinical social worker as well. I want and need to lose weight for a variety of reasons. Important to know I am a stress/emotional eater and I find myself once again going through a period of my life where this has been difficult. I am seeking positive outlets to help me overcome this and become a healthy person.I look forward to chatting with you all.

I posted to the wall, that I am not new to Spark, but to this team yes, The caption caught my eyes. Eat Less Crap. I like it. I need to lose a lot of weight and hope with the teams I joined and the challenges, I will succeed this time. I am married, Enjoy the little things in life and am happy with my husband and pets, which keep me busy. I am not big on exercise at all, I never was. I use to be pretty active, but now that I have gained so much weight and have bad arthritis, it is very difficult for me to get around good. I do the best I can, more on days that I am not in pain. I like music and shopping and a lot of television programs.
I hope everyone has a nice day and Good Luck. emoticon emoticon

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!

My name is Rhi, I have been on Spark for years, but never truly committed. Needless to say, I had a great come to my senses moment and I have been motivated to get myself on track and loose so much needed weight.
First off, I love to cook - adore cooking. I also like real food, meaning there is no way in H E double hockey sticks that I am going to use margarine over butter, I don't like artificial sweeteners either. And I will be bluntly honest, it covers bacon too. I'm not a fan of turkey bacon. Oh, and that bluntly honest thing...I have had a relationship with Ruffles cheddar and sour cream chips, but only when they are on sale because I am to cheap to pay 5 bucks for a bag of chips. That relationship is easier to break though...chocolate...may be more difficult.

I look forward to meeting you all and learning some new things, by eating less CRAP and real foods.

Rhianna

Hello, I am new to this team and I am married to a great man. He is very supportive in my trying to lose weight. He is also trying to lose as well. We started a few days ago and filled our pantry and fridge with healthier foods and determined to be healthier as well. He is a diabetic and takes insulin and I am pre-diabetic so we have to try an eat the right carbs as well. It is hard but going to hang in there, hoping for good results. I want to wish everyone here Good Luck. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm in my mid 30s, new to spark and this team. About two weeks ago I decided to stop my own guiltrip and excuses and be honest with myself about my health. I'm very interested in nutrition as there are so many advices about what? How much? And when to eat?

Looking forward to being part of this team.

Welcome HippieHannah!

You'll figure it out in no time at all. I had the same trepidation at first as well. Got over it pretty fast as people around SP tend to make a newcomer feel welcome.

Thank you so much for inviting me to join the team. I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. I'm an almost-50-year-old who loves to read, cook, and knit. I'm also a writer, a job which always stretches my mind but leaves my body quite sendentary. My husband and I homeschool our son (who is a senior in high school this year).

I'm still figuring out how teams work, but I hope to be am active member soon.

The best place to start investigating is Mark Sisson's blog. His version of Paleo is called Primal. It is a bit more forgiving as he allows some dairy if you are tolerant to it.

When you look at the pics on the blog and see what Mr. Sisson looks like keep in mind that he is in his 60's. His fitness level is amazing.

to our team Ayla. I will have to look into the Paleo Diet. I know what you mean about beans and grains. Not pleasant with some people. I'm looking forward to seeing your posts and getting to know you better.

My SP name is Ayla and I just joined your team. I am a Paleo gal. There is a lot of misconception on what Paleo is. Most of it wrong. It is simply eating as close to possible to the way the ancients ate. Beans and grains are eliminated as most people do not digest them well. No junk or processed food. My idea of an indulgence is a sliced banana, pecans, coconut flakes, and a T of 'enjoy life' dark chocolate chips.

So this team seems to fit that modality.

When I eat clean I do well but I have a sugar weakness and periodically take the Hell's Hand Basket express to dietary disaster. This has lead me to health issues and back to Sparking.

Ayla

Hello, all. My name is Temesha. I am a software developer from Virginia. I was active on SparkPeople several years ago, and now I'm getting back into it. Back then, my focus on weight loss was to improve my chances of conceiving. My husband and I struggled with infertility for five years, but in April 2015, we were blessed to welcome a baby girl. Now, my focus is to be here as long as possible for my daughter.

I lost almost fifty pounds before my daughter was born, but I have gained it all back. :( My biggest struggle is eating too much fast food. It's not even that I particularly like it; it's just convenient, especially after a long work day. I like Spark because it stresses making good habits. I think if I can get back into those good habits I had when I lost the weight before I can be successful.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all better.

thats a good start, dont know if you remember that email i sent you once that just showed by including more beans and not changing anything else can help with weightloss.
But the other benefit is that beans and veges promote the growth of beneficial gut bacteria so this can help with both mood(from serotonin) and immunity, so you fall sick less often

Cheers and hugs

I eat more beans than Bob does. They tend to bother his stomach.

Hi Everyone. I'm Vicki, and I'm working on being healthier, if not thinner. I have a good bit of weight to lose but I'm trying to focus more on the over all well being and not just the numbers on the scale.

Even though i know better, i struggle to not overeat, or make bad food choices. i am also a mindless snacker. so far, i do not have and special dieteary requirements nor food allergies. most people i know are the same. I don't really want to be on a special plan, but i dowant to become more aware of what i am eating, and why. i generally eat before real hunger starts. i have a garden so now i have access to free organic produce. but i am still amazed at how many crap ingredients are in so many processed foods. i do want to be in a habit of cooking from scratch and using real foods.

I'm 43. Mother of three (21 year old married son and 19 year old twin daughters). I have a super busy life with full time work, full time college, 5 dogs, 5 chickens, 2 ferrets, and an aquarium. I live with my boyfriend of 2 years and his son who is 20.

At heart, I am a runner. When life and divorce got in the way, I had to put it on the back burner. Now that I have started school, finding the routine seems to be the hardest part. In two weeks, I will start a beginner marathon trainer to run my first full in Savannah, Ga.

I figured the best way to get back to it was to pay the $100 entry fee. If I pay for it, I'll run it. And at 26.2 miles, you don't skip training.

I am new to sparkpeople. I need the people part. I liked the ease of tracking on MFP, but there was no real people to motivate. I don't really track so much since I found that a paleo diet works best for me. I have Celiac, so I don't eat gluten anyway. Giving up all other grains was pretty easy.

Ino 2010, I lost 72 pounds with Weight Watchers. I was a receptionist and a leader. I know how to lose weight. I need to lose about 15 pounds. I just need the support of people.

Hi, I am Cindy and I am 42 years old, married and a mom to fur babies. Currently I have 2 dogs, 3 years old and 6 months old. I have always had cats as well, but mine were all old and passed away, and I just haven't had the money or time to invest in kittens with a puppy!

I started on Spark in 2009, left for a while and was on other sites, tried Weight Watchers and hated it, and am back!

I am gluten intolerant, and don't buy a ton of GF products, I don't handle any grains or legumes well, and usually have meals around meat, vegetables and potatoes. I often skip the potatoes, and lower the carbs. I used to do very well on Atkins, but had to moderate it or I cheat, because I love produce too much.

I used to be a runner, and allowed life to get in the way, along with illness and injury. I want to get back to it but just can't seem to get into a good routine!

Hello everyone!! I am a 49 year old mom of 4: 3 boys and 1 girl (in that order!!!). I've been on sparkpeople for quite a few years now. I have always been a yoyo dieter, but January 5, 2014, I decided enough was enough. I lost almost 25 lbs. I am a weight watcher goer (been a life timer since 1989!). I work out every day doing some sort of cardio and weight training. Last month or so has been hard with the food, but, I'm going to try and buckle down. Want to look awesome for my upcoming big 50 in January!!!

Our nutrition is mostly vegetables and lean protein, Recently, I started making cold brew coffee, its easy on stomach, so I can drink more with almond milk and pumpkin pie spices. maybe try diet soft drinks or 2 litres a day of water with lemon juice.
I find the carbonated diet soft drinks (soda) very satisfying.
Normally drinking alcohol can also trigger the urge to overeat, so the above would be my suggested way of starting.

ps beer being lower in alcohol than wine or spirits is also lower in calories, so if you must drink, try some beer, if you dont like beer thats good!!, drink it anyway and you wont drink as much.
Cheers and good luck

My goals.
I have been successful for a long while in having at least 2 meat-free days each week.
I would now like to try for 3 days meat-free and introduce more beans and lentils into my diet

in addition, will continue to use the Spark trackers for nutrition, exercise, mood, stress, sleep etc.
will be aiming for days a week alcohol-free
