What diet are you following? Calories 1400 to 1800 protein, low carb, low salt

People recognize me by my laugh. Two of my nieces have the same laugh.

Sparking since 2012 taking part in the challenges for about a year still working to my goal but know without the challenges i would not as close as i am now 25 pounds to go
Enjoying being a EL for the Star Fish which had me being a cheer leader for my team mates so watch for me to be popping by your page one we are traveling the trail.



I enjoy walking i am doing the walking 4 fun walks right now working on the Creator Lake trail my challenge is complete by July 4 started June 4 Glad i just need to walk my neighborhood to get the miles in .

What is your favorite exercise? Walking and dancing in the living room gym visits

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have enjoyed several 5% challenges I have yet to reach my goal weight but I know I am closer to it doing the challenges
Getting water in each day tracking planning shopping from a list trying new foods not beating my self up when I slip continue to work on eating slow and taking 20 + minutes to eat and remembering to take wind down time before bed and getting proper sleep .


2 random fun facts about you?
I can dance with a spark friend two time zones away every Friday evening and Coffee with another friend on Sat morning and she is four time zones a way.

Living in Spokane Wash I train and look forward to take part in the annual spring run Call Bloomsday. the first Sunday in May and my Brother flies home from Denver to do it with me

What do you like to do for fun? I like to do lots of things--dance, draw, sing, write, ride my bike, cook, read, etc.

What diet are you following? Just counting calories at present.

What is your favorite exercise? Riding my bike, walking and dancing. Yoga and strength training are both growing on me as well.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. N/A I'm currently finishing up an 8 week challenge from ToneItUp.com though, and it's been very challenging but worth it. I've lost 3 inches!

2 random fun facts about you? I used to live in the UK when Hubby and I were first married, and I love reading about and studying history. I particularly enjoy reading about and watching documentaries about women and historic home life.

Anything else you would like to share? I'm excited to have something to focus on besides some of the more difficult family situations occurring in my life right now.

2 random fun facts about you? I was bit by a copperhead on August 1, 2006. We have 8 pets...4 cats, 2 dogs, a hamster and a turtle. All are rescues except the hamster.

Anything else you would like to share? I joined Spark People June 2006. I lost 60 pounds before I was bit by the copperhead. I am ready to retain my health and fitness. Let's do this 5% at a time.

What do you like to do for fun? Amusement parks, fairs, carnivals, walking the battlefield here in Gettysburg, driving aimlessly (I just learned to drive 5 years ago and I love the freedom that it has given me).

What diet are you following? Just trying to eat healthier and be more active!

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I had signed up for the Summer challenge last year but had to drop out early due to some serious life changes.

2 random fun facts about you? I recently moved into a new home that was originally a one room school house. Records have it dated to around 1850 (Pre-Civil War). It has had two additions added on to it over the years. I think it's pretty cool. Plus, I have an acre and a half of yard to work with and only a push mower! emoticon




Anything else you would like to share? I am finally getting back on the wagon after falling off last summer (and gaining all of my weight back plus a few extra pounds). I need a strong support system. I had a lot of success with SP back in 2007/2008 and got down to a size 6, so I know what I need to do. The problem for me is getting started!

Read, binge watch shows with my daughter, crochet & quilt (although I haven't done either in 6 months or so!), learn new things

What diet are you following?
Sort of watching calories while trying to eat whole foods in a balanced diet, and Shakeology. Once upon a time, I did really well measuring and tracking, so hoping to find some success with that again this summer. My downfall right now is late night snacking on crunchy, salty things while trying to stay up late enough to watch some tv with the hubby instead of just going to bed. Hoping to find success in curbing the late night snacking, too.

What is your favorite exercise?
Walking (with aspirations of being a runner) and kickboxing type cardio. This week, I started Core de Force on Beachbody On Demand and I love the MMA style workouts.

This will be my second Summer Challenge, so I've officially made it through 4 seasons of challenges.

I am a twin. I am a Reiki practitioner.

Anything else you would like to share?
I am a licensed mental health counselor, and also a case manager in Aging & Long Term Care. I know that as a therapist (and mom, and wife), self-care is crucial for success in my work. I cannot help people unless I am taking care of myself first. That is my priority goal this Summer, to put my health and self-care first.

What is your name or nick name? Hello, my name is Pam.

What do you like to do for fun? I like to read, visit with my daughter, exercise to DVDs, and walk/jog outside in the sunshine.

What diet are you following? I am eating clean with high fiber, and balancing my proteins, fats, carbs at meals; snacking on fruit, nuts and yogurt.

What is your favorite exercise? biking and working out with DVDs; also, walk/jogging.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I have done a couple of 5% challenges, and both times lost some weight. This time I plan on losing 5% of my weight, which will be attainable by following my nutrition plan.

2 random fun facts about you? I visited Morocco several times with my ex-husband to spend time with his family. When I was going through rough times and never knew how I was going to pay my bills each month, God was faithful and provided. I found $100 in a purse I hadn't used in years, got more work, sold things, and once my brother from another city deposited $1000 into my bank account without telling me, just because the Holy Spirit told him to. So my faith has real miracle experience as it's foundation.

What diet are you following? My main diet is Sonoma which is a cross between Mediterranean and South Beach Diet. Moderate carbs, good carbs, portions. I also track here on Spark.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking and some running.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. This challenge marks one year doing challenges. I started with the Summer challenge a year ago. I admit I don't do it perfectly, but doing the challenge keeps pushing me and keeps me focused. There is always something new to keep you on your toes.

2 random fun facts about you? Fun fact one and two go together. First, we don't have a television in our house and haven't had t.v for 10-15 years. We've lived places where you have to have cable or satellite to have television of any kind. Our kids have grown up at times without television other than boxed sets of shows. Last winter my husband and son thew out our t.v which was only used to play videos. My second fun fact is that my oldest son works in television. He works for a local affiliate to a national television network. He does production and some camera work and reporting. He has a degree in filmmaking.

Anything else you would like to share? I love these challenges. I don't have a lot of time to do everything, but I focus on the challenges and exercise. I participate as my schedule allows.

What do you like to do for fun? Reading, playing with my dog Chico, and shopping.

What do you like to do for fun? I'm a big renaissance faire geek and am prepping for that. After sewing my own clothes for years without a pattern, my best friend just showed me how to read one, so I'm making my privateer costume for our pirate day. As a guild, we have stricter guidelines, so after combining my other favorite, reading, I've created a costume.

What diet are you following? A loosely based South Beach with no complex carbs after 5.

What is your favorite exercise? Walking, yoga.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I did and held my weight...having some menopause issues that make losing weight extremely difficult, but I stay here to keep myself accountable.

What do you like to do for fun? Anything to do with the beach. I enjoy cooking and gardening, but haven't had my vegetable garden for the last two years. Dang squirrels eat everything!

What diet are you following? Vegetarian/Diabetic, Whole 30. I also do Shakeology.

What is your favorite exercise? Swimming, Zumba, and strength training

It's been awhile, but was very active for several challenges in the past.The last one I did, I had to evacuate for a hurricane and spent a couple of weeks without electricity and internet, and just dropped out. I promise to NOT disappear this time around.

2 random fun facts about you? I could swim before I could walk (according to my mama) and I am partially deaf. Being deaf is definitely not "fun", but I don't let it stop me. I love doing Zumba, and may always be a step behind because I can't hear the instructor, but that's okay!

What diet are you following? I am a strong believer in No S and I try to eat a diet that tends to be higher than normal in protein and somewhat lower than normal in carbs. I just find that I need more protein as I get older and I feel better when not eating many carbs.

2. What do you like to do for fun?
I am learning to do so many new things!
I used to like to sit on the couch or my recliner, eating! Eating almost anything, potato chips, ice cream, usually one or two bags, and several pints or a half gallon!
That was then, now I go to Zumba Classes, even became a licensed Zumba and Zumba Gold instructor! I also joined a second gym to get extra hours (Planet Fitness is a 24/7) Gym!!!!

I follow a modified high protein, low carbo hydrate diet, very similar to the Spark People Diabetes Diet. I use the Spark Coach and the 5% Challenge Community - and am one of the team leaders on the Champions in the Kitchen Team.

I am on an increased dosage for my thyroid I just started two days ago so by the time this challenge should start I will hopefully be ready to shed some weight:)

What is your name or nick name? I'm Heather.

What do you like to do for fun? I like reading, and I spend a lot of time on vape advocacy

What diet are you following? Sparkpeople nutrition planner. I try to stay in range on calories and other nutrients. I've recently changed my entire way of cooking since my DH was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic.

What is your favorite exercise? walking or Leslie Sansone videos. I lost about 100 pounds that way. Then last March I hurt my knee, and over the holidays I put back about 30 of what I had lost. I've re-lost about 10 of that, and need to re-lose 20 more before I can get my knee replaced. So, I'm stuck doing the boring recumbent bike, since it's the only thing that doesn't kill my knee.

If you did a previous 5% Challenge tell us about it. I did a couple of years ago, but I don't remember the team.

2 random fun facts about you? My DH and I own two vape shops (we just opened the 2nd one in February) and we're nerds who love Doctor Who, Battlestar Galactica and superhero movies.

Anything else you would like to share? I've been married for 14 years (sorry ladies, MY hubby is the best!). I have two sons - my oldest is finishing up his second bachelors and is thinking law school is his next step. My youngest just graduated high school and will start college in the fall. My "real" job is a health insurance claims adjustor for a large insurance company (you'd know it if I said who) and I work the shops and manage social media for our shops when I'm not at my real job!

What do you like to do for fun?
I like to read, go for walks around the neighborhood, binge watch tv shows, & color

What diet are you following?
I've done countless diets that have made me miserable and haven't helped me lose weight
Today I decided that I'm done with diets.

What is your favorite exercise?
I really love walking in all forms. From walking outside to doing a Leslie Sanson Walk away the lbs routine.

I did a couple a while back but under a different spark account before I deleted it. Honestly I kind of put too much pressure on myself. I wasn't really successful and sort of felt like a failure when the scale didn't seem to budge. I now know that I shouldn't have been focusing on the number on the scale. I will say that the support system is outstanding. The reason why I decided to join again.

2 random fun facts about you?
I am teaching myself how to speak German. Eventually, I would like to teach myself a few other languages. I booked a vacation to Punta Cana in July for my 40th birthday.

Anything else you would like to share?
I tend to give up on myself to quickly. I've been too focused on losing weight for my vacation that I've begun to panic about it. I actually thought of canceling it. How silly is that? That is how I have lived my life. I think "I'm too fat" to do that. I have missed out on a lot of things because of my way of thinking. I rejoined spark months ago and work got extremely hectic that I pushed it along with my health aside. As a quick remedy for that, I decided to try another diet which had me cut out a good 80 % of what I eat for the past couple of weeks I've dealt with headaches, being moody, and being miserable all day long. I weighed myself and after losing 4 lbs in a week I wasn't happy. Thought I should have lost more especially since I've cut out so much food. That's when I decided that it was time for me to rethink my approach to losing weight.

Come and tell us a little about you!
-My name is Tams and I am a mother of 3 kids, a 17yr old SD who lives with her mom, and my 2 boys ages 13, and 8. Depending on the time of year, my kids are all 5 yrs apart even though we didn't plan it that way! My youngest son, that I call Lil Bear, is a low-functioning Autistic with Sensory Issues. As you can imagine he is a big focus in my life and it's taken a lot to adjust to life with a special needs child. No one plans on diapers on a 8yr old that's for sure! I love very dearly and am very very fortunate that he is an incredible, loving and affectionate boy.

What do you like to do for fun?
-I love movies, reading, chatting online, and messing around in the kitchen (no expert tho!)
What diet are you following?
-nothing more than moderation and using the SP calorie tracker. Just trying to make good healthy food choices.
What is your favorite exercise?
-I'd love to go on more walks but my son doesn't tolerate it. He's very attached to me and needs me to be in 'eyesight' and he is a HUGE flight risk. As in...runs into traffic! So I compromise by using my Gazelle Glider in my kitchen where he can't get close enough to harm himself.

-I grew up in Hawai'i, the Big Island (which is named Hawaii so was always so weird when people couldn't figure out which island...why Hawaii...what to do mean which island? Hawaii!!) but I now live on the mainland
-I am half Japanese but grew up with my mom, who is very much a Baby Boomer American California girl (where she grew up, I've never lived there myself)
Anything else you would like to share?
-I'm so excited to challenge myself and be a part of an ACTIVE team!! I am a daily participant and promise to Keep Sparking!! I had originally started with SP back in late 2010 but around that time my lil Bear got his ASD diagnosis and we were just realizing how different the rest of our lives would be. It's been a very hard road to reach the level of acceptance I am now at. How does one accept that your son, your beautiful boy, may never talk, won't learn how to sign (we keep trying!), has been in diapers all his life, and is projected to only reach an approximate 2nd or 3rd grade level at full development?? You pray, you struggle, you eat too much. You spend ALL your time on therapy and doctor visits and find a way to deal with it. I found it for the most part and am now ready to focus on my health. My kids need me to stick around!
--'sides, I really miss my old T-shirts and Zena jeans. I still have the dress I first met my husband in back in 2000.
I'm ready to get started!!
