The first three days were the toughest, but this week really was the week from he77. My husband is still alive, but knows when to scurry away. Impromptu one mile walks have helped, as my "country block" is exactly a mile, and I've improved my one mile time in the process. The other items in my plan are helping too (good-n-plenty, grapefruit juice, brushing my teeth a LOT and doing some of the other things on the list). I've cried a lot too. I added the "surprise" breathing technique used by singers and that helps sometimes. (Imagine the gasp you take when you are shocked or surprised, and do this several times in a row. It actually does help when followed by deep inhales and COMPLETE exhales to empty as much of your lungs as possible.)

I have given myself a manicure and pedicure to keep my hands busy and give me a visual reminder of how pretty my fingers look without a cigarette in them. (Note: I did NOT go somewhere to get them done, I did them myself.)

I'm getting all kinds of oddball chores done that I've been putting off too, to use up the nervous energy.

BUT....

It is getting easier.

Ourmamam - I went to your page to read your blogs. How is it going for you? I admire the way you were able to cut back before quitting. I tried that a few times and failed horribly. If the smokes are in the house, they WILL get smoked.

If it is to be it is up to me.
