Phebess, he probably wouldn’t be doing anywhere near as good as he is with you watching out for him. My hubby would be sick of popcorn very quickly without me.

I hope you feel better soon.

Maree, that would be wonderful to be the only group in a movie theatre! Like a private showing!

And I don't know if my dr will re-test for the bacteria - but she'll test my blood to see if I have built any immunity. Apparently this is the bacteria that can cause meningitis in children, or something, so babies are now innoculated. I'm of the age where we weren't. So giving me the vaccine may be the best option, since this is my second round of this bacteria.

Bess, my favorite adjustable bookshelves were actually free-standing kitchen shelving I bought. So think outside the box. Also, you may want to think about a drafting table, where the table top tilts - gives a more accurate perspective without being totally vertical like an easel. (Though having a folding easel is wonderful!)

Kellie, I hope that project winds up soon! (And don't you love train travel?)

Jamir, remind your dad to keep that eye covered while he sleeps for the first week - does he live alone? Really important to tape on that eye patch at night.

Toni, so glad the concert went well, and safe travels home!

Donna, great medical news for both you and your DH - YAY!!! (And about time!)

Nell, I'll bet you savored that salad!

Bea, glad your knee is feeling better.

I stayed in today so I didn't spread the germs any more than I already have - and even though I told DH yesterday that the pharmacist suggesting spending a day or two in, somehow he didn't comprehend that meant he'd need to go pick up food for us. Sigh. He went to the mini mart that's half a block away, which is about as far as he can walk right now. Bought absolutely nothing I had asked for, and instead came back with candy for me, and banana bread. At least I had blueberries and microwave low-calorie pancake mix in the hotel room. He did manage to go pick up take-out Thai for us. Really makes me wonder what he'd do if we had never met up, LOL!!!

Wow! Its almost noon already! My knee is feeling better today than yesterday. I iced it for half an hour this morning. I'll probably do it again this afternoon and another time in the evening. The doctor said it would be sore for a couple days, but take Tylenol and ice it for a few days.

We were going to start on a big project this morning, but things just kept getting in the way. So this afternoon will be busy! I did make it to the grocery store to pick up a few groceries that I needed today. My phone has been ringing off the hook.

Donna, how wonderful to be pain free! We don't appreciate lack of pain until something hurts.

Marie, it's 90s here and humid, I hope your weather gets to us soon.

Bess, I haven't seen a used furniture store in ages, I guess the good stuff gets picked off on Craigslist these days.

I am about to have my last lunch salad for 6 days. I'm not supposed to eat fiber for the week before a colonoscopy. Since that's my entire diet, it's going to be a long 6 days.

Morning all, it was an early start for us as hubby had an appointment with the neurologist at 7:30 this morning. All is well thank goodness. It is so nice to go to these appointments and get positive results. I will take it for sure!
Yesterday I had my shot and I have to say it is a miracle. I feel like I could kick my heels if I was capable of jumping! I will take every good day I can as I know it won’t last. I can always go for another if I need it before my surgery.

Good morning!

Checking in quickly as we head to the airport and home. We had a wonderful Brazilian dinner with the music director of our performance last night. Such a gracious thing to do on his wife’s part. Lots of glass clinking and some consideration of what might come next.

Meanwhile, glad to be winging home.

Toni

Good morning! Today is the guy's birthday which he will celebrate by working late-but this week should mark the end of the worst of it.

Kellie, Maree - Yes, Chicago for work. Kind of sneaked up on me. I flew in the 20th, saw Hamilton on the 21st and then the conference started on the 22nd. Since I have lived there, I skipped out on some of the more touristy parts, did some shopping and some wandering of the city. Ate too much, hitting some of my favorites. The 20th was hot, but the rest of the week was great weather.

And yes, I'm glad that I never really drove in the city. CTA is pretty good, after all. And we always got transit cards through school for the year.

But back to the grind now. My assistant's last day was yesterday, so now the search begins. Three months until a week's vacation, and I'm counting down, for sure. May take a day or two off before the semester starts here, and have to take my dad in for his cataract removal on the 21st. That's the first eye. Not sure when the second will be scheduled.

Hope you all have a good one!

Hello from high atop downtown Chicago, my work downtown day. Actually kind of nice to get a break, get on a train, let someone else do the driving while I read my book.

Jamir, I missed you were coming to Chicago. Great food to be had here for sure!

I think of you when I ride Nell!

No rest for the wicked Bess, there are several projects lining up right behind this one. I'm focusing on efforts to change my perspective and reaction to the challenges. Sometimes that effort is exhausting.

Onward!

Sunny! A new house! How exciting! And how marvelous to be just a phone call away from your daughter and her family. Much as I love a beach - if I were given the choice of grandchild or beach - I know what I'd pick. And this is a great time to de-clutter your house.
Phebess - so so glad you've pinpointed your health trouble and can do something about it. Heal swiftly.
Nell, Jamir, Bea, Donna - I, too, hope all the testing and medical issues resolve well!
Jamir - Welcome back. We're just getting the bills for DH's labs from a month ago. They were cheap considering the good results that came from them. And the nuclear stress test was canceled. Yippee
Donna - Here's hoping the shot gives you some relief
Econlady - I truly appreciate electricity - it's such a miracle
Kellie - good for you for taking that vacation day. Glad to hear you're nearing the end of one of your big projects. I bet your New Year's REsolution will be to say "no" to any added duties in 2020.
Toni - I even feel the sensation of "ahhhhh" thinking about you coming down off the high of that big project. Congratulations again - and welcome home
Maree - what fun for your DGD to get to play at the pool with cousins all day.

As for used office furniture - there are 4 stores in the my home town (Richmond, VA) that sell used office furniture. We've bought stuff from them from time to time. I know pretty much the pieces I want. Figured out I need 21 feet of adjustable book shelves, for sure. and a minimum of 12 feet of "counter space" plus a desk. Truth is - I have found almost every type of piece I want in kit form, available at Home Depot or even Walmart or Ikea. Not quality furniture but what the heck? This is a studio - not my living room. Today is an exploratory venture but I'll probably bring some stuff home. We shall just have to see. I promise though - a photo tour blog post when I"m done.

Hi folks. It sure is silly season at work. It will be very hectic until the end of September.
I got up at 5 today. Had to drive to work and then metro downtown. I've got meetings at 8 and 9 am, and will head back to the office after that.

Phebess, glad you have a diagnosis and meds.
Donna, hope the shot was painless.
Sunny, that was a big decision, but sure sounds like the right one.

Have a great day!

Good morning!

Kellie, Nell, nothing like that feeling of wind in your face, freedom, being a kid again that a motorcycle ride can deliver, is there? Great memories, especially this time of year as the Sturgis events are about to begin. Having said that, I'm happy to know that someone else is enjoying my ole Harley Sportster. Good to see you back and seeking a solution to the work overload, Kellie.

Used office furniture stores, Bess? Kinda few and far between these days around here. When we closed the law office, we had such a hard time getting rid of our furniture. I ended up bringing mine home. And I am glad to have it. I hope you find just the right thing! How exciting for you!

Phebess, hope the round of antibiotic helps with the bacteria influenzae. Will they re-test to determine if it is gone?

Sunny, how exciting to be moving closer to your DD and family! I hope the beach house sells quickly; it's a tremendous amount of work to prepare it for sale and to move. Definitely different phases of life, that's for sure.

I'd forgotten that you were in Chicago, Jamirblaze. Was this for business or pleasure? Looks like I will need to go there next week as we are assisting an Executor with the sale of a lake front condo--it has sold, and we are moving out the furniture to sell. Hopefully, it will be just a one day trip, but I am not a big fan of all the traffic, etc. Not bad when someone else is driving!

Donna, how did the shot go? I hope it wasn't too painful and that it helps you.

Econlady, we are having a cool down too. Tomorrow's low is 59! Maybe we'll open the windows.

Safe travels to home sweet home, Toni! Congrats on the successful concert!

We took DGD to see the new Lion King last night. We were the only three persons in the theater.

Off to Crossfit and then getting DGD in the bath this morning as it was too late after the show. She is going to hang out with SIL today, who is watching four of her grandchildren and taking them to a nearby pool. Perfect weather forecast for that and the rest of the week.

Hope all have a great day!
