Busy day here, with some shopping, walking, and rethinking my crochet project (the beret). No matter what I did, it was too big. To the point that I looked like a turquoise mushroom. So one more unravelling, and I'm now making another scarf. Bought a black beret which works best with my rather wild hair. (I've never looked good in a stocking cap.)

I think I have my wardrobe down to 24 items of clothing, not including jackets and shoes and undies. Trying to make it work for weather that can be hot and humid, or cold and polar, and everything inbetween - yeah, not the easiest task.

Hi folks,
I've had a busy day doing all of my errands and meal prep, so hubby and I can go out in the woods to PLAY tomorrow! Even hubby prepped his lunches and breakfasts for the work week. His diet has gotten gradually better since we met, and he's now at his lightest since then as well. It's been a long-term process for him, and in fits and starts, but always in the right direction. His lunches are a little brown rice, some Trader Joe's Cruciferous Crunch, and grilled chicken. He said that his skin has been clearer after only a couple of weeks with 3 of these lunches. This past week he didn't pack his own, and said his skin started worsening. Amazing!

I got a bit of a walk in this afternoon with a trip to the grocery store, and was on my feet all day in the kitchen. I think I'll sleep soundly tonight.

Econ, hugs to you. I know that waiting is awful!

Whew. A day in the city for me. Right now I'm sitting in a lounge of the Commonwealth Club, an hour early for a 50th anniversary party. What was I actually reading?!?

This place used to be a men's club, bastion of Male authority. There was a side door where women could enter for the rare occasion when they were invited. It's still a private club and combines the feel of an English men's club from Queen Victoria's eara and Old Richmond.

I feel like I'm naughtily trespassing

Good Morning!

It was nice this morning when I walked, but its rainy now. I like walking in the early morning on weekends because there is little or no traffic. This morning only 1 car and it was in my last block. My knee was hurting a little more this morning, but going further didn't seem to hurt more so I kept going. It hurts most when I sit for awhile or when I'm in bed, the first few steps is hard to make. After that, the pain gets better, but never pain free. I'm still waiting for a date for the total knee replacement.

Thanks for being there for me. This group has been great support and i appreciate it.

Maree Im so glad your husband lost weight.

Busy today decorating more cookies for meeting tomorrow. I also have an anniversary party to attend tonight. Their gift is cookies. Not thrilled with eating Chinese, but I have to attend. I have lost almost all the weight I gained on the cruise. The desserts were delicious, but Im done with them and eating better now.

Good morning ladies and happy Saturday!

We also are feeling MUCH cooler temps than we did just a few days ago. Now if we could just get some rain!

I'm going to do some school work this morning. Then I'll take our oldest, who is home for the weekend (he is a sweet guy with Down's syndrome who lives in a group home) to see Abominable. I see popcorn in my future, so am being careful with the rest of my food today. I'm looking forward to having some fun with him!

Marree, sounds like both the advice of the cardiologist along with your example gave your hubby the swift kick in the backside that he needed. I wish my husband would take better care of himself. He goes through spurts where he restricts eating and loses a few pounds, then goes right back to where he was. I worry about his health, but nagging would serve no purpose. You are so right that setting the example really is the only realistic choice.

Have a great weekend, ladies! I don't reply to everyone, but I do ready your updates!

Nancy Anne

Good morning. It's 45 degrees out there this morning, cooler than the 95 of just 3 days ago.

The paper yesterday had an article about Alaska's Fat Bear Contest, where people try to photograph the fattest bear as the bears bulk up before hibernation. Clever idea. Sleeping for 7 months of the year would be a great weight control technique.

Easy day today. Hubby will be going to his old guy breakfast for the first time in 3 weeks, he's finally feeling better. That will give me a chance to get into the attic (the entry is above his car in the garage) and get some things I'll need for Mom's move.

Good Saturday morning.

We woke to welcome temperatures in the 40s. I am looking forward to a walk.

Your bike ride with your DGD sounded really fun, Maree. Good exercise and great memories. sure want to be remembered by my grands as an active woman for sure. A gift for them in their old age. I see it as part of a legacy gift. Hope it works that way.

Heading back to the city after a walk. Dinner party tonight in Alexandria that ought to be fun, but will challenge my Spark-i-ness. That said, I am determined...and planning ahead for what to nibble and what to avoid.

Good morning!

It felt good to snuggle under the covers, with just a slight cool breeze coming through the open window. Plus, with DH at the houseboat, I could hog as much of the bed as I wanted!! LOL. Thus I'm a little late posting.

My girls are still sleeping. DGD begged to ride our bikes on the trail to a park last night. It's a 30 min ride for DH and I, one way, so we were coming home in the dark. Her longest ride ever! Proud of her!! Wore her out as she was ready for bed pretty quick.

Econlady, we're all pulling for you as you figure out what's going on.

Medical care does vary depending on where you live, that's for sure. They have come a long way with all these hip and joint replacements.

We're taking DGD to a pumpkin patch at 10 am, the family bonfire party is this evening. Rain this afternoon. I've got some shopping to do before the party.

As for husbands who refuse to take care of themselves-- we can only lead by example. This weight loss kick my husband is on was HIS idea, but he admits he was inspired by watching my success with time restricted eating. Plus another Afib episode last March, which he only admitted to much later. He stopped drinking beer and adopted my way of eating. About 70 lbs lost since then. The cardiologist told him after his first Afib, to lose weight and quit drinking. So he did it and admits he feels better. Goal is to do what you want to do when you want to do it. Need good health to achieve that goal.

Yes, Nell, eating less, and including intermittent fasting is one element of Dr Peter Attia's tactics to reverse engineer aging. If you have an hour and 15 min, I'd highly recommend listening to his YouTube talk on reverse engineering aging. Sorry I don't have the exact name or the link. I plan to listen again and to more of his talks.

Better get this posted. Hugs to all and I hope each of you has a great Saturday!
