Bea, keep up the good work with the exercise and walking. It hurts, but it will pay off after 6 or 8 weeks when you have more range of motion - apparently there's a limited time to work on that, and the first 6-8 weeks are it. Much harder after that. (That's what they kept telling us, anyway.)

Bes, I've broken pyrex cookware and Le Creuset ceramic cookware by putting frozen items in a baking dish and putting it in a hot oven. I saw a Law & Order episode where heat + cold moisture = broken glass (it was an expert witness explaining accidental fires vs arson) - but yeah, even though something is labelled cookware doesn't mean heat + cold moisture won't cause it to break. (Don't you love when you learn something from junk TV?)

Walking, DH's chiropractor. Tried to meet up with my brother but the restaurant we wanted was closed today, so we'll meet up tomorrow. It was our dad's favorite Greek place, and since we lived in Greece for a year this brother and I always try to have dinner there when I'm in town.

Hi folks,
We're back home from our trip, and I didn't overeat or have a "so much to do sweets binge" upon returning home. Hooray for me!

I've got an 8 am meeting at work tomorrow, so gotta get my butt in bed.

Sleep well!

Good evening

I got up this morning at my usual time, 6:30 . I showered, then did the stretching and moving exercises. It hurts to do them but my knee feels better afterwards. I haven't been logging them because I don't know what to call them. Throughout the day, it probably totals up to about 45 minutes.

After breakfast, I slept the morning away. Robert went to Missoula to pick up a prescription and get a few groceries. I slept part of the afternoon away. I see the doctor on Friday for the first post-op visit.. We walked about 2.5 blocks today.

Morning all, it is Remembrance Day here too with many stores closed and most offices.
I also have read many books lately about the last two world wars. Itís unbelievable how cruel people can be to one another. We must never forget what our veterans did for us. Too many places in the world are still at war.

Maree I hope you and your hubby are able to miss this flu from the kids.

Bess, good news that your dh is doing well and a bonus that he was able to bring the sailboat in for the winter.

Phebess I bought myself a few cashmere sweaters a few years ago and they are way too warm for me so I very rarely wear them.

Toni, how time flies. I can still remember the first time I met my hubby. Many moons ago for sure.

Today my cleaning lady will be here. She texted me last night so I am expecting this one will work out. We will see. Not much else planned except to admire my nice clean house!

Thank you to all veterans and their families!

So great of you Toni, to cook for your neighbor! Happy Anniversary! I recently read When All is Said. I really enjoyed that!

I forgot which Kristen Hannah book you read Maree. I've read a couple of hers, the one title is escaping me. Was it about the young girl growing up with the parents that were a little off shall we say? Scammers? I thought it was okay. Sure made me feel better about my parenting skills!

I finished my book over the weekend which completed my Goodreads.com challenge for the year. I only set it to 15 since it takes me so long to get through a book sometimes... making time to sit and read.

Glad your husband is doing well Bess.

Yep winter has arrived. Very long, slippery drive to work. I HATE winter driving.

Temperatures are supposed to drop all day.

Good morning, team.

Got up early to. prep dinner for our neighbors whose main cook just had shoulder surgery. Remembering how great it was to get a prepped meal when I broke my leg last year. Grateful to be at the Ďother endí of the meal this time.

Nell, I too think it is hard and sad to watch our parents lose their memories and lives. I hope the staff in her home treats your mom kindly.
Maree, did you like the Kristen Hannah book? It was not my favorite of hers. Iím reading When All Is Said about an Irish man reflecting on the 5 people who most defined his life. Itís fictional. Iím enjoying it.
Bess, hope your DH is not feeling any after effects.

Thinking of everyone healing and minding others who need care.

Toni

PS Almost forgot that it is the anniversary of my meeting my husband! 36 years ago. Makes me smile thinking about it. The day after we met we went on a 13 hour hike. We seemed to have lots to talk about, lol.

Thanks everyone for asking about DH. I stayed awake with him for a good while Saturday night and then hung around him all day - except for the 30 min it took him to sail to the landing, where we pull the boat out. But he had his cell with him and all in all he is fine. I also changed the dressing on his head and it had already closed up well - so - we'll tell his doc at the next visit - but otherwise I think he's okay.

Phebess - Cashmere from TJMaxx!! Lucky find.
Bea - congratulation on the walk
Poindextra - I don't know that story but I know there is a children's story database at the Library of Congress. I'll see if I can find the link to it and let you know.
Toni! - what a wonderful idea - that meal app.
Donna - how was the trip to the new condo? Bet it was fun to see them all excited about their new home
Econlady - you KNOW we want to hear what your latest homework is!
Kellie - clean up is always the biggest workout of a meal and thanks for the invite!
Nell - I was going to buy a pyrex replacement but now I think I'll get a metal one
Maree - Gosh I hope you and DH didn't bring that bug home. Drink lots of water.

Today I am picking up my new glasses after the Veteran's Day celebration in town. I belong to the Woman's Club and they help with all the patriotic ceremonies.

Good morning.

I had a pyrex dish break in the oven one time, dumping all the liquid onto the floor of the oven. That was back before self cleaning ovens, I learned my lesson then. I still use pyrex for baked goods (when I make them anymore) but that's about it.

Maree, hard to believe you will get snow when it was so hot just a few weeks back. We'll be getting a wintry mix tomorrow, a bummer when I'll still have to open and close the garage door by hand.

My father died 18 years ago today. Mom barely remembers him now. It's all so sad.

Good morning!
A big "thank you" to all Veterans and their families for the sacrifices they've made. Reading WWII stories make me even more grateful.

I started Code Name: Lise yesterday.

Bess, I had a square pyrex dish do that to me while using it in a toaster oven. At that glass blowing demonstration at the Art Association the other evening, I learned how volatile glass molecules are. Thanks for sharing this, though, as it's a good reminder, especially before the Thanksgiving cooking spree.

How is your husband today? Were you able to take care of the sailboat?

Bea, I think you're doing great, walking to the grocery store.

What's the date for your surgery, Donna?

So I guess DD and DGD had some stomach bug, as they weren't so good yesterday. Both with diarrhea. DH just walked out and feels feverish--temp of 99. Ugh.

Snow predicted today, 1 to 3 inches, and a low 11¬į. Ugh. Kellie, I heard Chicago may get 6 inches.

Time to dress for crossfit class. Day off work but plenty to do - choose health insurance benefits, self-assessment, work-related stuff I'd rather do off the clock.

Hope all have a great day!
