Hey everyone. I'm new to this group but how's everyone doing?

I just started back up on Sparkpeople a few days ago so here we go.

I'm the same, I'm so bad for keeping on track with food. I tend to binge after exercise so maybe I need to plan my meals and exercise better

It's been so long since I've checked into this team but tonight I was thinking about what I'm NOT doing and that is staying on track with food :( And where better to get support than with like-minded people hoping to drop those pesky pounds!

I could definitely use some great healthy recipe ideas and quick, healthy go-to snacks! Upon skimming this thread I saw that someone said they're working on trying out breadless sandwiches! Great idea! I always suggest that to people who ask me how to cut carbs or calories in general but truthfully, I don't think I've tried it myself. Generally, we don't keep a lot of bread in the house which is good for me haha I LOVE bread!

I really need to cut my sweet tooth, too. Has anyone ever tried out a no sugar challenge? Any tips? Hints? Brilliant hacks to avoid added sugar while minimizing side effects of no sugar?

I feel I'm babbling with all the ideas bubbling in my head at the moment! The main point is, I wanted to pop in and say out loud that I need to be better with my food accountability and cut my sweet treats!

Wishing everyone a fabulous evening :)

Switched to "breadless sandwiches" and got some weird looks in the cafe at work when I asked for roast beef with just lettuce and pickles without bread. But not having bread saves me a couple hundred calories a day that I can use for eating more healthy stuff. I'm going to attempt raw veggies/fruit while I'm at work next week in an effort to up my consumption of both. Hopefully it goes well...I just have to find something I like eating raw.

Mom and I were looking through old pictures and she kept saying how she wishes she could have the body she had in her twenties...I'm only 22 and don't think anyone would be wishing they could have my body, and that has sparked yet another attempt for me to actually make things work this time. I've had trouble in the past because tracking takes time, and because being back home for the summer (still in school) means I eat what mom cooks, so I don't have a lot of control. I'm hoping to kickstart my efforts by becoming an active board poster! Hopefully this time I will stick with it :)

I managed to do my long run without too much hassle today. Overate, but I tend to do that on my long run days, but I will learn to moderate. An overall positive day for me.

I have been a little inactive lately. My boyfriend was in an accident on his motorcyle on monday. I do not know when I will start being more active. I am putting up some blogs, but I have not been to message boards in days (until just now).
I am not tracking food, exercising, or even trying. I feel horrible about it, but I need to take care of my boyfriend right now. He seems to be recovering quicker than our initial thoughts, so hopefully I won't be inactive for too long.

Good luck to all of you and hopefully the holidays didn't cause too much harm in your efforts.

Good luck to both of you :) It can be discouraging when you gain weight back but look on the bright side at least you already know what you need to do to get the weight off!

@CMURR11 You can do it! The same thing happened to me, I was 20lbs down then gained it back. I started over and I'm 40lbs down now. Focus on all the things you're doing well and I bet it'll snowball!

I can't believe it ! I had been down to about 145 from 168. I plugged away and made a major change in my body. Within 3-4 months I have gained ALL the weight back !!!!! I am ready again, but really feeling let down in myself to have made so much progress and then just give up. I am hoping to do this right and attain my goal weight this time. I have learned that is community is a major factor in keeping yourself honest. Here I go again, needing to prove to myself that I can do it again, but reach my goal weight and stick there.

You shouldn't feel guilty about your food choices, Thanksgiving only comes around once a year! And as long as you keep the indulging to one day and get back to healthy eating/working out after you'll be fine. Good luck to everyone who's getting back on the wagon today after the weekend!

Hey StephyKay! Congrats on the double digit weight loss! You could always do cardio circuits that involve basic boot camp drills, I.,e., running in place, jumping jacks, mountain climbers, etc. Self Mag and Womens Health have a ton of at home circuits to do without machines, dumbbells or roads emoticon

Hey guys! Doing pretty well! I am now down 13 pounds! Yay! So exciting to be in the double digits! I am going back to school and am on "vacation" this week at my grandma's. I am having problems with the working out. She does not have a treadmill and it isn't safe to run outside here. She lives in the country and there are no side walks and the road is not wide enough for a person to run on them safely. So I was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for cardio while I am here. I am doing really well on my diet considering my grandma loves to eat out for every meal! I just wish I was able to run!

ello folks! I've been busy these last few weeks and haven't stepped on a scale so I don't know if I've made progress or what... I have a feeling I've been at a standstill but I'm ok with that being that I've been focused on other things.

I have a wedding date! March 9th 2014 :) we settled on a venue and should be all set with our contracts, so now for the details....

I also sprained my ankle this past weekend playing tug of war... so non-impact exercises for me until the swelling goes down and my range of motion returns.

Hey guys!!! Just a quick question. What is a good alternative to push ups? I broke my wrist in February and it still hurts to put that much weight and pressure on my wrist. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone!

I just checked in with the group, and introduced myself, yesterday.. Today I have something to celebrate:

I joined the 10 minutes a day group to keep me motivated and with my exercise and diet this week I have lost 2.6 lbs! :) Very excited and it brings my total up to 7 lbs lost this year :)

How is everyone doing today? It is bright and sunny so I'm going to do a yoga workout and then have a leisurely bike ride with my husband and son this evening. Just feeling so motivated and blessed right now!

Hi I'm new to Sparkpeople. I find it really difficult to keep motivated or even to find the time to work out between kids, house and... well everything else so I'm hoping this site and everyone's success will motivate me to keep up with a fitness schedule and maybe give me some ideas on what kind of fitness routines to include in my regimen and how best to fit it all in with everyday life.

Jules, I'm glad you posted that! I've been looking for a new pair of cross-trainers. I've worn out the treads on mine and their sliding on the gym floor led to a minor hip injury. I really want a new pair before next Thursday, and all the shoe stores in town are either too expensive or too cheap. Any other suggestions on where to get shoes anybody! (Thanks again, Jules!)

Many Blessings!

@APDaniel Welcome Back!

Where does everybody normally end up getting their workout shoes?
I travelled all over town today looking at the shoe stores.
Finally ended up with a pair I like from Famous Footwear!

hi guys!

I'm actually rejoining this conversation after being absent for about a year. Sparkpeople and ChaleneExtreme helped me lose over 40lbs in 2011! I just recently started a blog where I've been posting the recipes I use to stay at my goal weight. They are all boyfriend approved and very healthy. I like to use all natural ingredients and stay away from 99% of processed foods. Lastly, they are all simple and pretty quick as I don't have tons of time and money to spend!

I just wanted to share my blog with you guys in the hopes that you might find some unique and tasty recipes you haven't tried yet! thanks and good luck on your journeys everyone!

you can follow my blog here! mysantamonicalife.wordpress.com

thanks everyone!

Hey everyone, just wanted to say I've had a couple of really good days. I am in a routine of working out every day before work and it's been going really well. I have lost at least a pound in the last week or so which I'm really happy about. But one thing that I'm even happier about is my improvement running. Today without thinking about it, I realized I run much longer and with fewer breaks than when I started. I'm so happy to see an improvement in my fitness. I also have been planning meals out for the week so I know exactly what to eat in order to stay on track. I hope everyone else has a great week. And I hope everyone can celebrate the little successes along the way to achieving your big goal.

Welcome Brittany! I hope you'll find sparkpeople helpful, it is discouraging when you just want to see the scale move and it doesn't. You might find good ideas on here about what other results, small as they might be, to recognize and use as encouragement to keep going. I know I like to pay attention to my breath/heart rate when doing every day things like going up stairs to get a feeling of improving health. good luck :)

Hey all, I'm new to sparkpeople (as of yesterday) and I'm hoping this will give me the push I need. I have an extremely hard time losing weight, and I often get discouraged and give up when I don't see results. I'm hoping I can make some new friends with similar goals as me to help keep me motivated and honest. I also love hearing about other peoples success because it gives me the hope that I can also be successful. Can't wait to get to know everyone!

Hi everyone, I just joined today. I'm 26 and need to lose about 22kg (around 49lbs), so I JUST made it in, haha. I have PCOS (which makes it hard to lose weight) and Fibromyalgia (so my mobility can sometimes be compromised).

Sometimes it feels like an impossible journey and I get demoralised, so I'm considering setting very small goals, like losing 5% of my weight each stage, for example. What do you guys think?

Anyway, very glad to have joined as you all seem really lovely! I hope I can fit in :-)

Is your weight tracker in KG instead of LBs? That's the only thing that I can think of that it might be...

If you need to edit your ticker...
On the Start Page
Click Accounts/Email Preferences on the upper lefthand corner
Click on the Community Tab
Then click the button to edit your Ticker (it should be the bottom choice)

Sorry if this is no help!

@Punkrocktattoos Welcome! Welcome to both Sparkpeople and to this team!
I'd suggest finding a couple of teams to join for whatever kind of exercise you like (walking, running, hula hooping, rowing, etc) and build up friends and support.
Then just get out and exercise! And blog about it!

@Hardatwork1 I've seen that a couple of other Spark People use a reward jar and they put in $5 for every 5 lbs they lose. And then at some set goal, they take it out for whatever reward they want, be it new clothes, new shoes, a date night, or something like that.

You should try zumba videos you can do at home! They are so fun and you don't have to be worried about feeling self conscious in front of other people. Also the Just Dance 4 game on playstation 3 is amazing. I have been doing both of them for the past week and I already feel better. I played Just Dance for 45 the other night and had a blast and didn't even realize how much of a sweat i broke. Just some ideas!

Hey guys, I just joined Sparkpeople to keep track of my progress. New to this site, I have about 25 pounds to lose, I am 25 years old and ready to get in shape, any support I can get or give would be more than welcome. Thanks emoticon

I don't really have a rewards system in place, but I'm really in need of some new clothes. I'm not letting myself buy anything until I go down one size. So, I guess that's a reward, but it's also to prevent me from wasting money on clothes that will hopefully soon be too big :)

Well I'm not viewing this as a diet either but it is still great motivation... at least it is for me. This is a lifestyle change and I don't take it lightly but when I am doing a really hard workout, I want something to look forward to. Yeah of course I want to just feel good about doing a workout and taking care of my body (Which I do), but I know there will come a time when I will hit a wall and the thing that will keep me going is having something to look forward to.

I don't know about you but, when I am losing weight, I don't see a lot of change in my appearance right off the bat. That is sometimes discouraging for me. But when I reward myself with something small for every 5 pounds that I lose, (and just to be clear, i'm not talking about spending a lot of money. I was thinking like a nice bubble bath, or a cheap new movie, something like that) even though I can't see the change, I know it is happening because I can physically see a reward.

If you have a large goal, it's best to break it up into smaller pieces.. then it isn't so overwhelming :)

I don't have a reward system, as I'm not viewing this as a diet, but a lifestyle change. Why would I reward myself for doing something should already be doing? My sister used manicures as a reward during her diet.

Hey everyone!

I wanted to ask you all what kind of reward system you have in place? I'm trying to stay away with rewarding myself with food and I have somethings in mind for my first 15 pounds, but after that, I'm kind of stuck. Any advice?

After 2 and half days at my parents, munching around all the leftovers, I'm back home. I did a nice Jillian Michaels workout and tomorrow I'm determined to move some more and eat right.

I am! The baker of the family, I made a number of sweet treats this holiday season. Including (but not limited to cheesecakse, cookies, candy, danishes, cinnamon rolls, and pies. Luckily, since I bake it all all the time, I don't get cravings for it, but my father-in-laws smoked turkey is always impossible to resist! I must have eaten a full bird yesterday! Along with all the other delicious treats floating around! emoticon

Hi, I'm Jene. I'm 24 almost 25. I'm a single mother going back to school full time. I live with me parents, who has also taken in my grandparents. It's really stressful since my grandpa has Alzheimer and my grandma is diabetic with a sweet tooth. There are always sweets around the house plus I commute an hour to school so I eat out a lot. I've cut down on eating out since August and have only lost 9 pounds. It's hard for me to exercise at home because I'm really self conscious and my grandpa seems to have taken an interest in me and just stares at me. After having my daughter and the baby daddy walking out on us, I learned that I have thyroid issues. So once a year I have to get my thyroid checked. I don't really have a support system at home. My mom constantly tells me how fat i am and how I'm not working hard enough to get the weight off . I weigh 40 pounds more than my mom by I look thinner than her. And my dad just stays quiet. I'm hoping this site will help me build up my self esteem while I lose the weight.

Hey Team! Just wanted to say hello! I hope everybody had a lovely week-end. Mine was great. I spend saturday in my pj, but still managed to do some workout. Yesterday, I went to see the Nutcracker ballet with one of my sister (lovely!) and after we did some shopping at the Christmas Market, under a cute snow. It was like in the movies :)
