MTBABYDRAGON Hi and welcome to the team.

Good luck! I just found this site last week and I love it! the fact that it is free makes it so much better though..lol I lost 7lbs my first week on here. I am a full time student with 4 children so I don't have much time, but I wish I did, there is so much about this site that I haven't even had time to figure out yet. Anyhow...good luck to you!

Slow and steady!

HI All! I am sort of new to Sparkpeople, I joined a million years ago but never did anything with it. I have been voraciously watching old seasons of the Biggest Loser which has motivated me to get off my ass and into the gym which is awesome! Better to be on the treadmill than bored at home with Ben and Jerry! My highest weight was 301 but I am at 287 right now. My goal is to be 188 by next spring though I would settle for 199 :) I haven't seen that weight since I was 14. Ive been on and off Weight Watchers for YEARS and successfully lost 50lbs once but 5 years later it crept back on... So since it looks like Spark People is as easy to use as WW etools I decided to stop wasting money and start taking action. Paying a corporation $40 a month isnt going to magically make weight fall off of me. So here I am 30, 287, 5'10" and ready to find support and encouragement from you fine people! Wish me luck!

Hey all! I'm new to the team and after reading some of these posts, I know I'm with the right team! You ladies are very motivating and ENCOURAGING!!! I've struggled with my weight all my life and have tried every diet known to man. One of my biggest problems is with stress and not putting myself first. I'm a 911 dispatcher which is very very stressful. This year I have decided that I will lose weight. I want it so bad! In 2009, I lost 75 lbs and have never felt more alive. But then after my mother passed away last February, I gained every bit of it back and quck too. I feel horrible and sluggish. January of this year I got back in the gym and started Zumba and I LOVE every minute of it. I have lost 26 lbs since that day and I'm just trying to take it one day at a time. Can't wait to get to know all of you better!!!

CASSIELUEWOODS welcome back, You can do it, just take things one day at a time, and keep working on things until you figure out what works for you. There is no 1 thing that works for everyone, and once your body gets used to things you sometimes have to revamp, but you never know where to make changes the best way to succeed is to keep a positive attitude and keep doing trial and error until things change again. You can do it! And sometimes for every two steps forward you have to take a step back but you are still making progress. :)

REMAINUNBROKEN Thanks for the motivational pep talk. :) And you are so right. We can all definitely do everything we put our mind to and it is our choice to do it or not! That book sound awesome I may have to check it out.

DLKOCHER Way to go, Sometimes making little changes don't seem like a lot to you, but it will give your body a huge boost in the right direction. Keep making the little changes and you will continue to see results. slow and steady wins the race.

I have to admit, I didn't think that I was doing much (mainly just tracking calories), cardio and strength here and there, not too much at once (mainly daily choices - stairs not elevator, etc.). I have decided that I will actually make a plan to get things going smoother.
I am now down 20 lbs since I started 1/23/12, and I haven't measured, BUT I tried on a pair of work pants that are older (but still have the tags) because when purchased, I wouldn't get them past my thighs (buying blindly, but they were the same size I wore at the time) not to mention a size down from what I currently wear. They fit so comfortably, I wore them to work that same day!!!! I am sooo happy about it and have told just about everyone!
I wanted to share with my team that little but huge victory I had and realized that I am now only 5 lbs from my first goal!!!!

Thank you all sooooooo much for the love and support and inspiration!!!!

Cassie you can do this. I've been there, I am there, I am with you! LOL Just one day at at time right? There is a book though the I think might help you because it helped me so much. It helped me understand the value of my decisions. The book is I Dare You! by William H. Danforth. The greatest think about it is that it teaches about balance in your life, as it is a short book, but it kind of drilled into me head that where I was at was based on decisions I had made. If I didn't like it the solution was simple....make different decisions.
You can do anything! Your life can be anyway you want it!

OK....im back...this time im not going to try to be superwoman....im just going to be me...Im going to try not to beat myself up when i dont do as much as i think i should...im not going to over congratulate myself when i have dropped 3 lbs and think i can eat what i want....this is not working for me...I have now realized that i am my own worst enemy/critic and need to start actually loving myself enough to realize that it is ok if i dont loss as much weight as the mean me wants to. As an article on this site said....i stripped my gears early on and now have to do a total rehaul and fix my broken gears...I pray that i have finally got this in my head bc now i fear that i have lost the battle and have crossed the line on being a diebetic! I know i can do this i just have to stay strong and move forwards instead of back wards! thanks for listening!

Good evening! I managed to make it through most of my day! I thought I could get away with sleeping in and not going to work this morning but they called and woke me up when I was suppose to be there so I only got to sleep in for about an hour! Ops My scheduled has been so off the wall that every once in a great while I sleep through my alarm. :( I swear I could sleep through everything including a fire or someone banging on my door. But I can't through a thunder storm or a band! :( And those are usually the nights I fall asleep when I am suppose to be waking up! They forgive me fairly fast though because come tomorrow they will be looking for me to pull some doubles so I am not too worried!

Hi everyone. I haven't posted here in awhile. I have been following SP on my phone. I have had a great few weeks. I am down 38 pounds as of now since 1-3-12. I have lost several inches. I used to try and wear some of my husbands shirts that were 3x and they were snug on my belly. Today I was able to wear one of my 12 year olds t shirts that is a size XL. I am so excited. I have had trouble wearing clothes lately. Usually the problem would be is that the were too small. Now they are too big. Time to go shopping. I have been receiving alot of compliments from alot of people. I don't mean to be bragging but I feel so good lately and I am so proud of myself. Hope everyone has a great week. emoticon

Man today was a super crazy day! I can tell that it is a full moon with the way things went at work. Its ok I made it through and somehow maintained a positive attitude. :) It can only get better.

You can do it, Gas! Strict programs tend to be good programs and are worth the work.

Doing okay today had a bit of a set back yesterday but plowed through. Went over my calories but upped my exercise. Mixed bag.

On track for today, though! Giving it 110%

don't let little setbacks get you down just push through them before long you will be able to plow through without any problems at all. you can do it just take things one day at a time. And try to keep a positive attitude.

Way to go on finding a healthy way to give in to your cravings. That helps so much when you can figure out ways to work through what you want. Remember everything is ok in moderation.

Overall it has been an interesting week. Work has been busy, I have been planning out how I can go back to school and a number of other things. The good news is comes fall I should be able to go back! I am kind of excited and ready to go but kind of scared because it is a strict program.

Hang in there everybody! Every little bit helps!

I went to Yapple Yogurt last night for a special treat some sugar free raspberry frozen yogurt with fresh strawberries added to it and some sprinkles for fun. It was good and fit in my plan too. Satisfied the Ben & Jerry's obsession I've been having. I actually dreamed of eating a pint of Ben & Jerry's. I decided something had to be done.

Keep your head up and stay strong. Bad habits are hard to break. I'm a newbie and I messed up a few times the week before. You just gotta dust yourself off and try alot harder tomorrow. Little steps will pay off.

This past week was a wash. Only walked 2 days (the weather was to blame for some of it) and I haven't been eating well for weeks now. Blech. I hate that bad habits can have such a strong hold on you.

Mission Accomplished! Thanks for asking! Stuck to my plan was not lured in by the special of the day which was creamy crab soup which totally would have been my pick.

But the crowning achievement was passing on the free happy hour buffet with mini sandwiches and a whole host of bad, bad food.

So I treated myself to cheesecake, well not really, graham crackers with all fruit blueberry spread and low fat cottage cheese. Tastes like a cheesecake but at 180 calories much, much better for me. New favorite snack.

NBAYCALIGIRL that is great way to go on your 6 mile hike it is so cool that you were able to walk & jog and cut down your time sigificanty. :) that is great and should make you feel awesome.

MYSHERIANN Hello way to go on your 1 mile onthe treadmill, did you meet your goal? Right now I have all goals on hold for a little while but hopefully will be joining everyone again soon.

JOEYJO5 how did you do?

Today was a fairly good day. It was busy but slow enough that i got everything done. After work I headed to the gym and made it through a 45 minute strength class. Sometime I felt I was pushing hard but sometimes not I guess we will see how I am feeling tomorrow that will tell the true story! My calories are extreamly low today :( And I am just not hungry so we will see what tomorrow will bring!

Autumn,

You should absolutely be proud of yourself. But don't feel the need to push yourself so hard in order to be successful. Exercise should be challenging but safe.

That article helped me. If you can afford a heart rate monitor, That's the most effective but the other practical solutions work well too. I bought a wrist watch one for less than $25 total on Amazon.

My goal is to eat a healthy meal out tonight when we go out for a coworker's birthday. I already looked at the menu and opted for a seared tuna appetizer and greek salad with shrimp. I plan to bring my own packet of dressing and ask for the cheese on the side so I can control the amount. This should help keep it to about 600 calories.

Now to stick to the plan and not slobber over what everyone else orders will be the challenge!

Hi Autumn,

congrats on doing the jillian michaels program. I heard it was crazy tough! I think you can do wonderfully well sticking with a program you enjoy. You dont even have to exert yourself to the point of being physically sick. Just raise your heart rate so you are breathing heavier, but not too heavy to talk (at least that is what I've been told)

Definately dont think yourself a failure!
