Finishing this topic with this one thought...2017 was a year of change and most of it was not good. 2018 will again be filled with change but after the last few years I feel like I'm stronger even while being weaker. Only with God can we persevere!

My heart & prayers go out to you. I can only imagine how this year has been but you are still here & haven't given up so that says a lot.

Yes, today is the end of 2017 filled with ups & downs. 2018 starts in less than 12 hours! So it's focus on the new can't waste energy thinking of my 'would have, could have, should have'.
I just don't have that much energy & time to spare.

I need to remember to aim for doable smaller goals. Doing too big too fast has been my downfall.

Yes, this year I pray for slow, steady & consistent pace of things. I'm getting too old for drama.

This new year will be filled with milestones. Our oldest son getting his dream full time job in the career field he has been working for & 'getting his life started' as he puts it.

Our oldest daughter continuing to mature into a young lady. Navigating the challenges in this world while mantaining her dignity as a Catholic young lady.

Our middle son becoming a teenager & looking less & less like my little boy.

Our youngest daughter recieving her 1st Holy Communion & geting through her 1st confession. She is already sweating when she learned she had to tell Father ALL of her sins.

For our youngest son to easily transition into a preschooler.

Last but not least, Dec 2018 my husband & I will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.

Well, I need to get moving here. Will be going to 5:15 Mass then to a friend's house to ring in the new year.

Take care & God bless,
Olga

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

WOWSA! 2017 is almost done! I'm trying to wrap my head around that thought. I had prayed for a better year this year from 2016 and so much sorrow and pain was thrown our way this year. I do believe we are stronger people because of it but it wasn't a good year. Now my prayer for 2018 is that we come through as a family whatever is given us this year. I know that times are going to be very hard for all of us, without my momma around to be the glue that binds us together. I'm working on being that glue myself but it seemed SO effortless for her. I'm sure it wasn't but that was just the type of person she was. I barely hold it together week to week but she held it together for 80 years!

I'm praying for all of us on this team. That we can work towards goals and achieve them. I am not going to be unrealistic but I have to find motivation for myself or my health is going to suffer and my family cannot afford that. May we all be here for each other and for ourselves! If we moms don't care for ourselves we will never be able to care for our families!

God bless and happy Christmas season!

Welcome to Advent! ;)

My hubby and I celebrated our 12th anniversary by putting up the Christmas decorations. *snicker* The house does feel much more like the season now if the weather would cooperate! We have a cold front coming in late tonight/early tomorrow but it is bringing rain with it. I need cold without rain! We have a pretty busy week - today we have Sophia's immunology appointment. Finger poke and she is already talking herself into a panic. :/ Dang it little girl! 3+ hours and we still have school to get through! This is week 9 so that means review and quarter testing. That is what will make the rest of our week super busy!

Well she is almost done with handwriting so time to focus on her for a bit! Have a blessed week!

I can relate to the hubby believing he is made of steel!

I do hope he is feeling better & if not he lets himself admit he needs help.

Knowing we had surgery coming up this week we quickly got the Christmas decorations out & up. Still MIA are a Wise Man,( running joke he didn't listen to the directions & he doesn't have GPS) Advent Calendar/Jesse Tree & Advent candles.

Our Thanksgiving Break was this week. We will have to be creative with next week. I have a feeling we will be doing a lot of bedside work.

Hope you are having a good one!

This week is having it's own challenges but we are making it through. I think the weather started today off poorly but we are charging through and getting things done. :) School actually only took us just over an hour! Even with grumpy donut starting off the day. Now to finish other things around the house. We hope to get our Christmas decorations started this weekend. Lots to clear up out of the living room to be able to do that. I have to move the hidden gifts from the back of my Jeep so that I can put the donation stuff back there. I need to go through my clothes again to put in my own donation stuff. Right now it is all Sophia's stuff.

I am worried about my hubby. He has been experiencing some left side abdominal pain for over a week and I'm worried it could be a hernia or pancreatitis or some combination of the two. He refuses to go be seen because 'that is a sign of weakness' you know. UGH! He can barely attempt to cough or sneeze (welcome to the early stages of mountain cedar season) without doubling over in pain. MEN! :/ Say a prayer for him today if you would please!

Off to get working on some lunch and maybe move things around so we can look into the space for Christmas/Advent! Have a blessed Wednesday!

Is it strange to say that I'm glad that this past week is over? I usually can claim a restful Thanksgiving week but this year was the complete opposite! Family time this year was not pleasant on the hubby's side and I was so stressed and worried about doing well without my Mom that I couldn't really enjoy my side's time either. I don't think I've ever said this before but MONDAY CAN'T GET HERE SOON ENOUGH!

I confess, I cannot get myself into preparing for Thanksgiving. I'm feeling lost. Even though for the last 2 years I've pretty much done the cooking and planning while mom was dealing with her cancer and recovering from knee replacement before that, she was always here to go to when I needed help or whatever. This year she isn't here so I'm just feeling like I cannot go on with it! I have to, my family is depending on me but I feel like I am just not up to the task. I don't want to say something to my family because they are missing her greatly as well. I just had to voice it somewhere. This is a pretty safe place to do that. I guess what I'm saying is that I could really use some prayers to help me get through this, then move on to the next holidays and celebrations.

School is moving at a good pace so that is helping me a lot. I hope and pray you are having a good week.

We got to the gun range on Saturday as a family to get our rifles and scopes zeroed in so we can have some good hunting in January. We got it done! Sophia got to shoot her little .22 and she is actually a pretty good little shot. She can finally do all but cocking the gun by herself. That is quite an accomplishment for the tiniest of 7 year-old kiddos!

Yesterday we had her follow up with endocrinology. We got some not so great and some good news. The not so great was that she is already showing signs of osteopenia (low bone density) but that can be countered with calcium and vitamin D. The good is that her bone age is starting to catch up with her actual age! Last year at 6 her bone age was approximately that of a 3 year-old. This year at 7 it is approximately that of a 5 year 9 month old. That is huge because of the osteopenia but it is a relief to all of us indeed.

Today we are back at school after taking yesterday off for the doctor appointment. We are hitting multiplication hard. She does almost everything with math in her head so it is actually quite cute to watch her get things. She just lights up the moment she knows an answer.

I WISH we could paint around here but my hubby keeps backing out on us. We have wanted to do the kitchen and living area for 6 years now but he keeps telling me at the last moment that we need to just keep it neutral. It isn't like we will probably ever sell this place so why not make it more colorful and truly ours? I want to do a mural in Sophia's room with vinyl after we do a cool paint job on one wall but he completely nixed the idea. It isn't like it would be permanent! Oh well, for now I just continue to plod along with cafe au lait walls. :p

Have a great week. I have to mentally prepare for next week. My first MAJOR holiday without my Mom and I'm completely in charge. I've been 95% in charge for 2 years now while she has been fighting cancer but she was always there to talk to. Now I am trying to be the one for my oldest to talk to about what we are doing for the holiday. Say a few extra prayers for me if you would please! Thanks.

Do what works! It's an awesome feeling when you find the right solution. No need to add drama!

Baking, yum!
We will be doing that next week!

Our weekend was spent FINALLY painting our oldest daughter's bedroom. It's the smallest of the bedrooms so I was confident we would get it done by the end of the weekend.
So our oldest daughter & I tackled the painting while our 13 year old kept an eye on the 7 & 4 year olds. My hubby came in & changed out the electrical switches to match the new white trim. All that's left on his list is hanging up a few shelves. There a few things left to get back on the walls but all the big things are back in the room. The closet & bedroom doors will get painted when we can work outside. It's too cold & wet now. But other than that the walls & trim have been painted. The ceiling just needed a little cleaning so that was a time saver. The wall color finally matches the furniture we painted in July.
Our 7 year old has already put in her request for her room to be next on the painting list. The goal is to find the lightest shade of pink to match her Hello Kitty curtains & bed set. We have learned the hard way you can have too much pink on the walls!

Well, this is the last full week of work before Thanksgiving. I need to get my Monday going.

Hope you are having a good one!

I'm glad the printer is working because we don't do well with trying to use the book. She won't want to stop and then it is a battle, that is something nobody needs! :p

We finished the week and now we are trying to get a few other things done. I'm waiting to hear from my oldest because she has a project I needed her to do for me today. We sort of slept in today but soon we will have to really get moving. I'm going to try to work on a pumpkin cake roll that SOMEONE who shall remain nameless has been begging me for since we watched the 'Great British Baking Show' for the 2nd time on Netflix. ;) However that will deplete my last eggs so we need to head to the store to get more before we start. I also need to make some banana muffins or bread to deal with the last of the bananas. It may turn into a baking evening over here.

I hope your weekend is great!

Hope your printer is up & running soon.

Things I've done & what another hs Mom has done when the printer isn't working:

Place a Clear plastic page protecter over the book page. Then use a dry erase or washable marker to write with.

Write answers in a notebook. Just write on the top the book @ page #.

Do the work orally just make off that it's done.

Hope you are having a good one!!

Take care & God bless.

We had a fun Halloween. Yesterday we got busy doing some other things we needed to like some grocery shopping. Today I'm working on my printer because it is eating paper so we haven't been able to do school this week. I'm a little disappointed because we were already a month behind the schedule I had set for us. We will adjust and survive but I'm sort of on a schedule to make sure we can do First Communion on the day we had planned. Ah well...we all know what God does when we plan. He is getting a good chuckle out of me this year.

I hope the cold is gone. Poor guy! We are all avoiding illness as much as we can. Too much to do before the end of the year! Off to fight with my printer! Have a good day!

Sounds like a fun filled week!

Today is Halloween but our little guy (4 year old) is fighting a bad head cold. So we won't be trick or treating tonight. ☹️. I'm letting the young ones dress up anyway & we are going to have a Halloween candy hunt instead. The older kiddos decorate the basement last night with orange & purple streamers I picked up at the dollar store. Hubby picked up extra candy. So the plan is to hide the candy & let them search for sweet treasures!
It's taco Tuesday so dinner will be easy. Thinking about watching a movie w/ the kiddos & even pop some popcorn.

We were crazy busy from Wednesday through yesterday! Wednesday was tennis followed by Sophia's cardiology appointment (we now don't have to go back every year - every 2 instead!) Thursday was her 7th birthday and we did the zoo with her bestie and one of the big sisters. (fellow Catholic homeschooling family) Friday was my birthday and we cleaned house then went to the range so I could shoot the 'birthday gun' and then picked up Kat. My daddy took us all to dinner and then we went and Sophia got her ears pierced. Saturday was the birthday party (huge success!) Sunday was church and finishing up the last of the clean up from Saturday. We cooked dinner at my daddy's and then came home. We are having a problem with school this week - my printer is eating paper! I'm going to try to fix it but if I can't I'm not sure what we will do. I don't let her use the books themselves but rather I copy the pages we do for the day and go from there. I can scan them and print them on my other printer but we lose the color and some of the time we need that just to do the actual work. :/ We can't replace mine unless there is a spare one running around to be donated or trashed at my hubby's work. That is how we get 99% of our machines. *snicker*

Well we are going to go get the last things we need to finish up Halloween costumes. Sophia is going to be a rodeo princess and has insisted that I be a rodeo queen. We have everything but sashes which I will make. I need to go pick up 4" ribbon!

We are about to head out the door to get our day started. I hope you are having a blessed day!

Yes, you can!

We are working on getting through schoolwork for the week & then doing our Saints/Halloween prep Fri. Sat the kiddos have a party so I'll take advantage of that & work on switch out their clothes in their closets.

As far as steps I'm trying to stay focused. I've lost my 'mojo'.

Hope you are having a good one!

I had 2 rough days in a row. Sunday and Monday I got in some good step counts. Today we're working on it again. Late mornings though. We need to get better with those but it is hard with late nights. :p

This week I'll be making pasta sauce, meatballs, and finishing up decorations/Halloween costume accessories. Party on Saturday, things going on every day this week except today. I think I can, I think I can!

Sounds awesome!!! Today I had a rough started. I went all morning without my tracker on. I wasn't home when I realized I didn't have it on. By the time I got home the day was more than 1/2 done. So I decided that today was my 'off' day & I'll count tomorrow's steps instead. With getting ready for Mass & 1st Communion class it shouldn't be too bad of a step day.

We took Monday off. Yesterday was day 1 of week 3 and we flew through it. Today we had tennis for the first time in 2 weeks because the last 2 we have been rained out. The weather was PERFECT! The only problem? Silly caterpillars that caused every single child on the court to be distracted to an extreme. My child? She was in 'invasion of the caterpillars' freak out mode. :o They all finally got it together literally the last 10 minutes of lessons (1 1/2 hours of lesson by the way) so she finally got to hit some balls over the net. I really want to get her into the team tennis program because then she would be PLAYING tennis, not just standing around waiting for her turn with 10 to 20 other kids ahead of her to hit 2 or 3 balls before going back to the end of the line. Maybe then I can get some wall ball time in as well!

Well we did school after we got done with tennis. It was a LATE start but we are done and she is working on a birthday card for Kat's best friend since 6th grade (adopted daughter) who is also this month (Friday). She LOVES to draw and do up cards for people because she loves to make them unique to the person. Katie loves owls and purple so a purple, blue, gold owl was drawn and now a purple heart adorns the inside.

Well I need to figure out what else we need to do today before I decide I'm not moving for a could of hours. :p Have a blessed day!

Couldn't agree with you more! HOT WATER IS AWESOME!!! Not having it makes life very uncomfortable!

Made it through the weekend not gaining any pounds which is a good thing. I want so much to have a big weight loss by Thanksgiving.

This Fri our 13 year old will be having his bday party so I need to get ready for that.

Finishing up lunch, wrapping up schoolwork for the day then get cracking on getting this house in shape. Ending my day with a walk. My Catholic moms' group meets tonight but I really need to get this house in order. Can't do it all.

Hope you are having good one.
Working on making this one better than yesterday.

I'm just saying this to get it out...HOT WATER ROCKS! ;) I did hair washes for Sophia and for me! The dog gets a bath this afternoon. I'm washing linens this morning. I'm feeling chipper and cheery! Oh and it helps that it actually FEELS LIKE FALL today! ;) Can we all take a moment and do the happy dance, please? *bops around the room like a crazy child* Sophia is sleeping still so I'm a little more subdued right at the moment but I wanted her to get that good deep sleep in that only can come from a good shower and clean hair without having to stress out over getting back home to get into bed before midnight!

I'm praying you all have a great day. I'm ready and raring to go!

I am feeling better! Thank God!

Having better days is always a good thing.

Hope your visit went well with your dad.

Today we visiting a friend while our oldest goes over details for housesitting he will be doing later on this month. From there we will be going to another's friend's fall party.
Praying there will some healthy choices to eat & being able to stay away from the seasonal treats! So far this month I have managed NOT to gain. Seems to be the way the scale has been moving lately. My bday wish is for the # on the scale to be smaller that it was at the start of the month. I have 5 days to go!

Got to get going.

Hope you are having a better one today.

We worked hard to make yesterday a better day. We did okay. Today we are starting off earlier so I'm praying that helps a bunch. :)

I think we are going to go hang out at my dad's for a few hours today because he needs the company.

I'm so sorry the ear piercing didn't well.

As a mom my heart goes out to you!

I'm off to bed! God-willing I'll get some sleep.

To say the attempt to pierce her ears was a complete fiasco would be a HUGE understatement. She talked herself into a panic. :/ The nice guy doing the piercing wouldn't attempt because she wouldn't hold still. She still has the dots on her ears for placement. UGH! She still is begging to get them done, though. So we will attempt when daddy can go with us and will we work on helping to keep her calm. Honestly I think we will both need a valium! If she doesn't go through with it this time daddy won't let her try again for a LONG time (years) so she had better make up her mind to be calm and collected because daddy won't brook the craziness she pulled yesterday.

I'm trying desperately to NOT have a bad day today. My patience is worn thin from a long and drawn out math lesson. She is doing phonics right now and moving through quickly after a complete mess up for the first row (ending letters today and she was doing beginning) so hopefully mommy can come down from the crazy tree. I can't handle a bad day today. Honestly neither can she.

Hope you are feeling better! God bless.

How exciting!!!! I'm so happy for her. Yes, getting your ears pierced is a major big deal.

Her costume sounds great!

We are still working out costumes here. Not being very crafty I look for deals after Halloween for the following year. Our 4 year old is going to dress up as Mickey Mouse while the 7 year old is dressing up as the Queen of Hearts. Our oldest daughter is either going as a cowgirl or a Colombian Cumba Dancer. It's my mom's old outfit from when she was in a dance group. The cowgirl stuff just happens to be stuff out of her closet. It will really depend on the weather. Our 13 year old isn't sure if he wants to dress up at all.

Trying to keep focused on staying on track & on schedule. Yesterday I was able to do a walking DVD workout while the kiddos played & didn't snack between meals. That's a big one for me. I'm a HUGE snacker especially at night. So I made sure I didn't pick at the leftovers while putting them away & I didn't go back into the kitchen after dinner. Which meant I HAD to have the dishes done right away. Not a bad thing just getting it done. It's all about discipline, consistency & not sabotaging my day. Easier said than done!
Well, I need to get back to it.
Enjoy your day!!

Well, as the day moved on I started feeling a little green. I did push through & got my walking DVD done, ate dinner ending with a quick shower but then I was I done. At least I got some sleep. I'm feeling better this am so I'm catching up on the kitchen.

Hope the ear piecing went well.

BIG day around here! Sophia is getting her ears pierced this afternoon. I'm excited! I got mine done at age 4 and due to idiot issues wasn't allowed to get Kat's done until she was 10. So we are right in the middle of those ages here for Sophia. We aren't doing one of the mall places. We are doing an actual piercing place because of sanitation issues. With her having immune issues I'm not about to let some KID with a piercing gun who has had a week of training do this! As it is we will have some 'restraint' issues because she wiggles a LOT.

We have a bunch of stuff going on this month so I'm trying to fix up my calendar so I can get it all handled on time. The shirt was step 1. Now I have to find some leather and do the rodeo princess chaps for Sophia's Halloween costume. We're doing it UP for her but I'm just going to put on jeans, a shirt, a sash, boots and my Stetson. ;) She's getting a sash, chaps, and probably a mommy made belt out of the deal. All she can wear again. :p

Well I have to finish checking up on email before getting ready for the day. Have a blessed one!

Well, it's new month. One of my favorites! The start of Fall, not only is it my bday on the 11th but my hubby's on the 8th. Love to share Oct bdays w/ you & Sophia!

What a bummer about your tracker. Hope something will work out with getting a new one. I know it helps keeping you on track & giving you a better picture of what you are doing.

My thoughts are prayers are with you & your family. I can't imagine how these days must be like.

Well, I hope to make a bent in updating my stuff here while I have dinner going on the stove.

Hope you are having a good one....

You have been on my mind as well. Things have still been weird, crazy, and hectic here. I honestly don't know when or if they will calm down. We are preparing for 7th birthday this coming month! Also prepping for 1st Communion after Easter. We will finish up our first week back at school today. My sister-in-law got us the coolest birthday gift ever! On Sunday we will be attending My Princess & Me which benefits our local Catholic children's home! Considering that they aren't really any faith at all this made me really smile! It is a huge charity event and Sophia will get to be a Princess for a day! I haven't told her yet, that is actually her reward today when we finish school. She gets to dress up in a fancy dress and even have a Princess tea party! Well her and about 100 other girls and their moms. We've been trying to get tickets to go for 3 years now and this year they were gifted to us.

Daddy is still trying to get settled into the new 'normal' over at their house. Kat is working and going to school - she has a job interview this afternoon after school for a job that will have benefits so she could actually drop the Tri-Care that she has which costs her more than she makes a month many months. Not what we would want for her to do permanently but hey a step is a step, right? My hubby is trying to make it until the end of October when he takes his final vacation of the year - the week of Sophia's and my birthdays. Things have been insane with his job so I'm PRAYING that he makes it to that week so we can have a week of fun - no school birthday week!

Well I need to get my tushy up an moving so I can really start losing some of this excess weight. I haven't fixed my tracker and we can't afford to replace it until Christmas so I'm just carrying it around in a pocket until then. That means some days if I am just in my comfy pants that don't have pockets I can't carry it. All of our solutions we've looked at to fix it have not come to fruition so I do with what I can. I'm literally doing good some weeks to get in 2000 steps a day because I'm stuck sitting taking care of things at one house or the other.

Time to motivate a little girl to finish her breakfast so we can plug on with school. Have a blessed Thursday and I hope and pray you can get some down time soon. God bless!

You have been on my mind. I do hope things are getting better.

I've been struggling keeping up w/ things here w/schoolwork, housework & life. Trying to keep everything on track w/our oldest son looking for a full time job, oldest daughter getting ready to drive, 2nd oldest son getting ready for a robotics/quiz bowl competition, youngest daughter getting ready for 1st Communion & youngest son potty training. Yeah, I would say 'when' if I could. I try to tell myself not to complain. WAY EASIER said then done. All this & oh yeah, trying to lose weight. Scale hasn't moved down but up for me. Clothes are getting tight.

I'm way behind on updating things here & I'm so sorry for not getting back on here sooner.

I'm overdue on getting back on track!!!

Well, enough of me complaining. I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry for not checking in sooner & praying you are having better days.

Take care & God bless,
Olga

The vest was a success even though it wasn't my best work, not even my best mediocre work, but when it was on it looked great and totally finished the costume! :) Since then I've been plotting and planning for my godbaby's 1st birthday! *cheer* Mommy and I have picked a darling design set and I'm going to do up the entire outfit. Including getting her a little tutu!

As to me? Well I've been feeling really bad about not having concentrated one single bit on the summer walking challenge. I'm doing good to get up out of my chair to head to a different room most days. Others I've hit about 5000 steps. Not one single day have I gotten close to my set 10,000 steps nor have I been motivated to do a lick of actual exercise. I know I have to get through this and start working on a healthier me because I have a lot of people who are counting on me to be available and healthy! My daddy (90 and newly a widower), Sophia, Kat, my hubby, our dog even. So only once I'm healthier can I really be the person needed by everyone, including me! My plan is since Sophia starts back at tennis next week to start getting to bed earlier (at least an hour) and getting up earlier (at least an hour) and trying to get MOVING not just 'mooooovvvvviiiinnnnnggggg' like the tortoise!

Well time to head out the door to rescue my daddy once again. He can't find the new car insurance papers. :/ God bless and have a blessed rest of the week.

I'm hanging in there. I have good days, bad days, and just being alive days. I've lost my freaking marbles because I promised my oldest I would make a vest for her to wear this Saturday at San Japan (though back in June when she started pestering me I told her I just wasn't up to it and in truth I'm REALLY not but hey) and yesterday when I began I put one side on correctly with the seams to the inside and one side on incorrectly with the seams to the outside. :/ I'm going to have to get creative to fix it today and I've got a list about 1/2 a mile wide of things I need to do today as well. I could really use some prayers just to make it. I'm in the fake it until you make it mode until further notice. :p

I pray you are having a good week. God bless.

Thank you so much. Truth be told I'm actually doing better than I imagined. I take that as a sign that she is really and truly free from all pain and that she is watching over us very closely. We were her life - my daddy, me, my two girls and my hubby. She gave SO much of herself to everyone she met. Everyone was treated like family. I find myself doing the same and that makes me feel better as well.

Today is 1 week since we buried her. She has been gone a week and a half. Yet today, even with feeling lost without her, I know I can carry on. Time lessens the pain but in truth it doesn't heal it. It just allows us to make our lives an example of what she wanted from us. For us.

Have a blessed Wednesday. I have to make about 4 phone calls (for Sophia stuff actually today) and then head to the grocery store. I know that the busier I am the less I sit and brood. That is good for all of us. Take care!

Trying to get back to 'normal' and just not doing a very good job of it. I need to kick my bum in gear and get moving. I'm feeling so lethargic, which I know is perfectly within the bounds of what I 'should' feel but I don't like it one single bit. I could use some prayers to get myself motivated because there is SO much to do for my daddy and for ourselves. Thanks!

We buried my momma yesterday. Sophia fell apart last night at bath and bed time. We realized she has NO pictures of my parents in her room. We have them scattered throughout the house but none in with her. I'm remedying that today. Printing off a couple of good ones for her to have in there. Life is just almost too much right not but we have to move forward. She wouldn't have wanted us to sit around and mope, she was full of life and service and we shall carry on for her. Thanks again for all of the prayers. We felt them and still need lots of them. God bless.

That's the beauty of homeschooling!!!! You make the work fit the child, not make the child fit the work. Seton is pretty good at working with you on adjusting grade levels as long as you use their books.

Yes, enjoy your 'school free' days. Our break has been In June & July. We start back up next week. This week is having some down time from our crazy summer break & organizing for next week's start. Even though we haven't touched a book we have been busy with yard work, getting ready for company, vacation Bible school & painting projects.
This weekend we spent time with my in-laws ( hubby's bio-dad & step mom). Saturday we all spent the day at Six Flags Great America & had blast! Yesterday was our niece's baptism. We had all the cousins together. It's been 2 years since we had everyone together. It's was great seeing how well the cousins (our kids) were getting along & remembering the time we were the young kids.... then realizing & feeling how old we are now....

I agree with you, staying up until 2am painting is not the best plan but that was the only way to stay on track & keep the project on time. We needed it done before this weekend that was scheduled to be done last weekend & was getting behind.

Late nights are not fun & not my thing... I'm a fan of SLEEP!!!
Well, I need to run....

Hope you are having a good one....

DONE! So glad to be DONE! I have to call and talk to Seton about next year. We will be doing 3rd grade math and handwriting since we've been a year ahead all of the way so far. I think we also want to do 3rd grade art since she is so far ahead of what the art books are having them do. She wants to really get into serious drawing and painting. :)

Today is my first day without having to think about 'did we do school' in a while! I'm going to enjoy the feeling while I can! :)

Quit staying up until 2 to paint bathrooms! ;) I'm up until 2 waiting for my hubby as he had to be at work at night this past week. We are done with that now so I plan on being in bed by 1! *snicker* Have a blessed day!

YAY! Glad the painting and such turned out well. I'm thinking about redoing the big mirror in Sophia's room. We inherited it from our niece (like many other items in the room) and I just painted butterflies and 'I emoticon butterflies' on it for her. She is growing up (this has been in her room for 4 years now) and so I thought I would redo it for a slightly more 'big girl' look. She loves camo and space so I thought I could do it in either design. We'll see. It will be a pretty big project because the mirror is like 36x28! HUGE! Plus given that it has paintings on it the primer will be absolutely essential.

I hear you on the tub not draining! Ours isn't that old but due to the fact that it is used SO much and so much hair goes down the drain there are weeks on end where you are in standing water after 1 minute in it. We just have to keep drain cleaner on hand and we used the last of it without me knowing so I have to get some more ASAP!

Well last day of week 35 is today. I had better get going on copying pages. Have a blessed rest of the week!

It's sounds like you are on overdrive with your stress load. I do hope & pray you get a break with everything going on.

The painting/furniture building project took us all of last week to finish. My husband was able to trim a board of wood for the desk top & then screw all the pieces together. So we ended up repainting a dresser & wall shelf. We painted & made a side bed table, small bookcase, desk with storage & a mirror stand. A side for some areas that need a little touch up paint it turned out fabulous! Now, it's waiting for the cooler weather to get here so we can paint the room. It's just too hot right now to open up windows to paint.

This week not only do we have vacation Bible school at our church but our bathroom is being remodeled. It's was falling apart & we were on borrowed time. The plumber is installing the new tub as I type. The old one wasn't draining so showers were turning into baths then having to babysit the drain so there wasn't standing water in the tub. Yes, things can be worse but this was getting old.

I'm soooo behind on updating my challenge post. Planning on sitting down soon to get it up to date.

Well, I need to go...

Hope you are having a good one....

Take care & God bless....

Stress needs to quit thinking it can live here. :( Just on for a quick moment. My glasses are toast (the protective coating is coming off and making it very hard for me to see), I woke up with a super sore throat, we had my mom back at the ER last night for a possible infection that turned out to be irritation not infection (didn't get home until 1 this morning), Sophia's been having random back pain, Mom is having emotional issues due to her situation, and I just need to not have to think about anything for a while. It isn't going to happen but dang it that would be nice!

I hope and pray everyone is okay on the other side of this screen. Have a blessed weekend. I'm going to try to just make it through today and tomorrow without having anything blow up. God bless!

I'm tired just reading that! *snicker* It sounds amazingly fun and (with the exception of the water/plumbing stuff) like great stuff. Sophia IS doing better. We just need to remember that at 6 she doesn't process stuff like we do. She is learning a lot about Heaven and Resurrection right now as we finish off school. That has helped tremendously.

We took my mom home Saturday from the rehab hospital. She is physically doing pretty good, it is the mental and emotional that is in serious need of prayers. She is feeling like she is a huge burden, frightened because she can't do much for herself, and bitter that it is all piling up one thing on top of the other. The only people she isn't getting fussy with are me and Sophia (sometimes Kat as well) because she knows we are doing everything we can to make her comfortable and heal. It has been a VERY steep and fast learning curve for the 3 of us because we are, for now, having to do almost everything for her. All I can say is that God prepared me for this, I truly believe, when he gave me Sophia much later in life.

We missed tennis almost the entire summer tennis series with all that has been going on with my family. We were going to try to go today but I just couldn't get up which meant, of course, that Sophia stayed in her bed as well. I hope to get up in the morning and hit the last 2 days this week and all of next week because it ends after that and no tennis until homeschool tennis in the Fall.

Well I need to get going. They are cutting off the water again in the neighborhood so I need to get us dressed and out the door so we aren't flipping out over not being able to do things that need water. Have a blessed day!

My dad did enjoy himself at the range. I never saw him so excited about shooting before. I guess with having 2 girls living in the city & my mom not a fan of it there really wasn't a time to do it. Well, when he heard about what our oldest daughter was doing he just lit up! He even said next time he might even shoot! He hasn't since his army days.

All in all it was a pleasant visit. Unfortunately, our washer broke on the 2nd day. We were quickly able to get a replacement but then discovered a problem with the water values. It took another week to get the plumber out here & then the whole thing plus the pipes around it needed to be replaced.

We were able to still have a quick get away to eat at an amazing Colombian restaurant & see the Cubs play! The game ended with fireworks (my fav)! We had so much fun! We never did that before but it's definitely a winner of a trip!

After over a week of no washer we were up & running. Just in time to wash clothes for our oldest daughter to pack for a teen Catholic Youth Conference. It's run by the Dominicans & the have other orders there from around the county too. The Brothers staying at our parish were there as well as a few new priests too. It was an amazing opportunity for teens to interact with priests & nuns. The religious also gave talks on various subjects that sounded fantastic. She hasn't stopped talking about it since she got home on Sunday. She is already thinking about next year!

Well, we have been in this house for 4 years & our oldest is due for a bedroom update! It's the smallest of the bedrooms & used to be an office. She was ok with that since it was all hers & not sharing with her younger sister who just turned 7. Since it was an office it's completely white. Paint on the walls is looking dull (flat paint ) with lots of holes in the wall. Her furniture is half of a multi pastel bunk bed set (when she shared a room w/her sister) that she has quickly outgrown. So we have been brainstorming on how to update her room to look more like a soon to be 16 year old girl (in 2 weeks)!

She has settled on a light shade of teal , light gray & white for her bedroom colors. We found a dresser at a local thrift shop for $8! Have also decided on making a side table, book case, mirror stand & desk using wooden storage crates. In the fall when we can open the windows we will paint her bedroom walls teal.

Yesterday we got the primer, sandpaper & paint to start our project. With the 2 of us working we got a lot done for the 1st day. We are going to start off painting the dresser while making the mirror stand & side table before tackling the desk. We prepped everything with a quick pass of the sandpaper & added a coat of primer. The dresser needed 2 coats since we were going from black to light gray. The drawers are got primer & the 1st coat of teal. We were able to add a coat of gray on the dresser & spray paint the drawer pull handles before calling it quits last night. This morning we will add a 2nd coat of color to the dresser & drawers then add color to the crates.

Well, I need to get moving!!!

Hope Sophia is doing better & all is well with you & your family!

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

How fun! Glad your dad got to see her shoot! :) Always a cool experience to get tips and pointers from one who truly knows.

Sophia is doing better but she still has moments of just raw emotion that are hard as a parent to watch but I know I have to let her get through it in her way. We have decided that unless it is one of our parents (PRAYING that won't happen any time soon) we aren't going to take her to any rosaries/funerals for a while to let her recover completely. I think that is for the best. Plus hopefully our pastor is back soon from his vacation so she can sit and talk with him, he is SO good with her!

I woke up this morning in pain (calves) and feeling light headed and out of sorts, running a low grade fever, and just basically not up to the day. I've fought it all day long, even though we did make it through school and the AC guy coming out to check on the AC for summer, and I thought perhaps I was coming down with one of the bugs that is going around. Since we have been done with school it has been shown loud and clear I've got yet another ear infection. :( Thankful that it isn't something I can pass on to anyone else but dang it all I hate ear infections! I've got an almost perpetual one in my right ear but it seemed to have subsided for a long while until today. The pain in that ear is intense along with the tinnitus that won't stop. Oh well...mom's never get the chance to rest really so I plow on with life, you know?

I've been trying to keep up with steps but other than the days we are really out I haven't done super well yet. My friend who is a teacher is off for the summer and (she is Sophia's godmother) she wants to join us for some walking trips around town. We're thinking the Mission Trail and perhaps the SA River trail. :) Sophia can use her 4 wheeler so we won't have to worry about either carrying her or having her attempt to keep up with big people with MUCH longer legs!

Well I need to go deal with the pest control guy who is here for our regular maintenance. I hope your new washer is there soon. Have a good one!

I know for me dealing with grief is difficult & can only imagine how hard it is for Sophia. God willing time will help her.

Hopefully your Sea World trip will be a time to relax & enjoy the day.

Hoping you will have some down time to recharge yourself. Reading your post made me tired!

It's been a pleasant visit with my parents. We have enjoyed sharing stories & cooking favorite Colombian meals (my mom is an amazing cook).
Yesterday I took my dad to watch our oldest daughter practice trap shooting at the range. He was a Sharp shooter in the army. He was stationed at Ft. Hood, TX when I was born before we moved to NJ. He was impressed on how well she was doing. He gave her some tips & encouraging words.

We had a hiccup when the washer stopped working Tues morning. Thankfully it was at the end of the load. It was on borrowed time & were forced to replace it. We were able to get a replacement & should be up & going by tomorrow night. No time to waste, I have clothes waiting. You know you are getting old when getting an appliance working is exciting!

Still struggling with waking up & not being able to fall back asleep....

Praying & can get a couple more hours before my crew is up & moving...

Hope you are having a good one...

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

We've had a rough go. Our neighbor across the street passed away last Wednesday and Sunday we went to his Rosary and Sophia just didn't handle it well. Monday morning she woke up in a panic from a terrible nightmare and didn't go back to sleep. Mommy was EXHAUSTED! That led to no school yesterday. Today we were supposed to head to tennis but it rained last night so it was canceled and now we are going to do school (some of it at least) and then head to Sea World with my best friend who is Sophia's godmother. Tennis tomorrow (unless it rains again) and Thursday and then school after each. My hubby has a LONG week at work so we are trying to just put together things for dinner and such that we can do and he can reheat when he gets home.

Well time to hurry a little procrastinator along with her breakfast so we can get moving. Have a good visit with your parents!

Praying for a speedy recovery for your mom.

We got through our friends' visit last week & this week will be my parents. Praying for a peaceful & enjoyable time.

I'm having trouble sleeping. it's 6am so I gave up the fight. I'll enjoy the quiet house while everyone is still sleeping. With any luck I'll get a cat nap on the couch....

Hope you are having a good one....

I just finally got back on here after a day of being away. Mom is back in town and at rehab for at least a week. I am also starting to work with a high school student exchange program. I want to really get started on finding host families but things have just been insane this past week.

Oh please pray for the repose of the soul of our neighbor across the street. He passed away on Wednesday. He and his family are very devout Catholics and this is the loss of the patriarch of the family. His wife is the one who has had health issues for a long while but he is the one who declined so very quickly.

Well off to go visit mom at the rehab. Have a blessed weekend.
