Nov is almost over😱! Our Nov has been filled w/colder than normal weather, snow & even an ice storm followed by lose of power. Clean up from the ice storm will take some time but I'm thankful we were able to have a very blessed Thanksgiving. My parents were able to visit & spend it w/ us.
This weekend we will get ready for the start of Advent. On Dec 1st is our 25th wedding anniversary! My hubby got a new wedding band to replace the one he lost playing catch w/ our son. I was able to get my ring reset & both my older band & wedding band made into a new one. So it's still my rings just in a new style. I'm hoping to be able to get them blessed this weekend.

Looking ahead at the next year our 2nd oldest son will be confirmed at the very end of March. I have to be in a better place weigh wise than I am now. I can't stand seeing myself looking like this. I have 4 month to make it happen!

I have to keep reminding myself slow progress is better than nothing at all. It's not going to go as quickly as before. Moving forward & continuing to move is the goal.
Glad to hear you as still at it.

Hoping you are having a good one.

Take care & God bless,
Olga

Wow! Where has this year gone? We're in November! I haven't accomplished a single one of my goals but our family is moving forward and I think that may be a bit more important right now. I have some pretty interesting little goals I want to reach before the end of the year...just to get my mindset right and stable. I keep slipping with my eating but I haven't given up yet. I'm holding steady at the same weight for 3 full weeks now, I don't like that weight but I haven't gained any so I'm pleased enough for now.

We're slowly recovering from birthday week. We started back to school right as scheduled and we even were able to finish a project started 3 weeks ago! I have a plan and I want to stick with it this year, come what may! I want us to be done by the beginning of June because I think this year we are going to work on building experiences instead of doing so much material gift giving. I want our summer to be filled with experiences that will last in our memories a lifetime! :) We shall see how it pans out.

I hope you have a blessed weekend. I'm off to read my emails and see what all I need to do today.

Hope it goes smoothly. Yes, bad habits that have been going on for years are especially difficult to break. I know I have many of those myself.

Have some reorganizing/decluttering that never seems to end here that I need to work on. I'm hoping this summer to get some painting done on furniture & walls. But until then I need to continue working on organizing, working on sticking to my schedule: eating, drinking water, sleeping, schoolwork, cleaning, laundry, LIFE etc.

I need to get my Fall flowers planted & continue working on costumes. I have planned out 2 of 3 so far. Drinking more coffee before continuing down my 'things to do list'. Really need to just relax tomorrow so I need to make today count.

Hope all is well with you & you are having a good one!

Taking back my brain from the bad habits of a number of years! I know what I need to do but I don't do it. Time to stop that mindset and get back into a healthier one!

Thank you for your input! I love getting all sides.

That being said I'm actually a lifetime member of GS and my oldest is a Gold Award recipient. (She is one of a handful to do so at the Nation's Capital and has several other awards from being part of that exclusive group.) I've been doing a lot of research and when the 'writing was on the wall' as it were with GS I knew Sophia couldn't ever be part of it. My grandmother was a GS, my mother and aunt were GS, I was/am a GS, my oldest earned the highest award there is (WAY harder than Eagle though not given the recognition Eagle is given) and now I was having to turn my back on this long-standing legacy. We have a number of very orthodox Catholic friends who are part of AHG which is what led me to look into them.

As of now there is still no allowance made for openly homosexual girls and each troop has the option to be even more stringent. (That is per what we learned last year when beginning the search for a way to help her be in scouts.) The troops here never do any fundraising at all and the dues are even less than GS (here at least). I don't have any issues with hard to earn awards/patches. I, personally, enjoyed those more than the ones that were super easy. My oldest as well. We have down here 4 girls we know who this last year earned the Stars and Stripes award. All at the Catholic troops in town.

We did look into the Catholic option, there is a troop of both here in town, and they didn't fit with what she wants nor what I was hoping for. We actually considered starting a totally separate troop of our own - I even began putting together badges and awards - because I wasn't finding what I was looking for. Then we came across the AHG and it does, at least for now, fit our hopes. We are also looking at doing 4H because she is so into the outdoor stuff (shooting and animals) so we would have 2 things going on at the same time. We shall see what we wind up with. For now we are still working out the details for everything. :)

Praying for a smooth rest of your week! We need to get done around here too!

My 2 cents about AHG. All in all, our 9 AHG years were a positive experience but like everything you the have the good, the bad & the ugly.

I'm a former Girl Scout Brownie/Girl Scout. We met after school in our Catholic School's cafeteria & the moms would take turns being leaders. We made crafts, sang songs & sold cookies. My mom was even the cookie mom 1 year. Yeah, that only happened once. We went camping & roughed it. It was a great time. So when it was my turn to be the scout mom I was all in.

Our 1st born was a boy. That wasn't going to stop me, I just became a Cub Scout mom. He went from Tiger all the way through Eagle. Our 2nd oldest was a girl. Since the day of her ultrasound I was making plans for her daisy days. When she was 4 I was all set to join the local daisy group when a Homeschooling mom, that just so happened to be my hubby's boss' wife at the time, told him about AHG and why it was started.

At first I was heartbroken that my dream of my turn of being the Girl Scout mom was gone but at least there was something our daughter could still do.

So we found a local Catholic troop and we hit the ground running. We made new friends & work through the Pathfinder Book. Her uniform at that time was just a tshirt that matched the cover of the book & navy blue slacks. Our troop let us use any slacks/skirt so I was able to get inexpensive ones at the local store.

Dues from the beginning were high but the 1st year wasn't as bad since the book & uniform were cheaper and there were no badges until the end of the year when she earned her level award. She crossed over to Tenderheart (now I think it's called Tenderfoot). Dues were higher, book & uniform were more expensive. We had a mandatory fundraiser for Nationals we had to do every year and order everything through them. Thankfully, our troop continued to let us get shirts, slacks/ skirts from local stores & only required us to get the vest/sash.

To off set the high dues, part to Nationals & the other for our local troop, the troop split dues to be paid twice a year with fundraisers that we worked to earn money for dues, books, uniforms, badges & summer camp. We worked hard & her being so cute didn't hurt either. There was no way we could have paid for AHG w/ out the fundraisers which AHG limited how often & what they were.

Everything is to be done through Nationals. Only 1 person can order supplies & badges required paperwork. Back then it was actual paper that had to be mailed in, with leaders signatures & allowed time to process for badges to be shipped back. It's now done online but shipping is still costly & wait time can be weeks.

The requirements of the badges are demanding & the older the girls get the harder they are. The girls are required to do service hours to earn stars, 1 for each year in order to earn the level awards. The younger girls only have to earn 5 hours a year while the oldest girls have to earn 25 hours a year.

During the last 2 years our oldest was in it (Pipa, the oldest girls) the required badgework was becoming more like schoolwork & less fun to do. Camping & outdoor activities were her favorite & until then the not so fun work/fundraising made the fun stuff worth it. But it was becoming more like schoolwork & not worth it anymore.

With having a Boy Scout/ Eagle I can tell you the older girls' requirements for badges are so much harder than earning Eagle. AHG Stars & Stripes, their Eagle project, is just about impossible to earn. In all the years we have been in & known about AHG of all the local troops, I know of only 3 girls who earned their Stars & Stripes.

Now for the ugly part. In 2013, when Boy Scouts changed their rule about allowing boys who saw/called themselves gay, our oldest was working on his Eagle, our 2nd oldest boy was a Wolf, I was expecting our youngest son & our oldest daughter was still loving AHG. Our oldest finished Eagle, our 2nd oldest boy didn't continue Cub Scouts & our oldest daughter continued AHG. Same sex unions were made legal & now Christian churches were recognizing & celebrating these unions. So with AHG being a Christian organization, Christian churches recognizing same sex unions we didn't like the writing on the wall. We then looked closer to the AHG guidelines for the girls & no where does it say that a girl who sees herself as gay can't join AHG. So with what was happening to Boy Scouts, which now is just Scouts of America, boys/girls, openly gays members & leaders, even Girl Scouts, we felt it was just a matter of time all scout groups would fold like Boy Scouts.

When our now 8 year old was old enough to join AHG we decided that she wasn't joining & our oldest decided not to continue AHG. We went from an all scouting family in 2001 to not by 2015.

We have discovered a Catholic based program called Little Flowers for the younger girls, Blue Knights for the younger boys, and there is Honor Guard the older boys & Hospitality for the older girls. It's not on the same scale as AHG but it's all Catholic, no pressure from big donors and you have more control. Catholic Heritage Curriculum has some books too but are more geared for families to work together to earn badges.

So why am I telling you all this? Just so you have all the possible information about AHG before you start. It's much easier for the kiddos to never start something than start, love it to then pull them out when you don't like, as a parent, what you see. Believe me 2 of our kiddos had to do that. In the end, you do what's best for your family & please know I mean no harm. Just wanted you to know.

I don't drink coffee. I do make smoothies but I have to have bananas because our blender is such that it won't blend without the banana as a base. I don't know why but it is so weird. We now have to keep a lot more fresh fruit than we had been (too expensive per my hubby in the past) so I think we will be better at getting food going earlier in the day. I do love the little muffin tin quiches but I never make them. I have a dozen recipes for them so I should just start doing them. Especially since I can do a homemade crust and just full the tin with eggs and cheese, sausage or bacon or whatever. I'm trying to plan out snacks and such for my hubby to take to work because he is supposed to get snacks between his meals and those will probably be when he gets his yogurt and fresh fruit. They recommended the full fat Greek yogurt and I found a BIG tub today at Walmart. :) So I'm thinking about getting some of those small rubber maid containers which we can measure out the right amount he is supposed to have with each one. We'll see how it goes. Lots of prayers for all of us!

Do you think a breakfast smoothie would work? Easier to drink than eating something. I saw on Pinterest you can make in a muffin pan individual egg quiches. Someone quick w/ your coffee?

I'm hoping and praying that because my hubby is having to eat differently now that he has officially been diagnosed with diabetes that we can all make some changes. The hardest part is that none of us are big breakfast people any longer. We're going to have to fight our way back to that. He needs to work on other issues to help but food and exercise are keys. We may institute family walk time again. We used to do it all of the time (actually not much since Sophia was born but before that every other day he and I with the dog would walk at least 3 miles.) I think it would be good for all of us, especially the danged little dog! ;)

I love that we both thought of meatloaf for last night. Great minds! :) I have officially been chosen as the 'minute taker' for the pastoral council so I have to sit here now and type up the notes I took last night into minutes for the entire council. Wish me luck! :p

My heart goes out to you. I know how difficult that can be. I can tell you it's much easier when the whole family follows the new eating plan & not just one person. My dear friend is a busy mom of a large family & she has to watch her carbs/sugar but no one else does. So she still has to cook meals, snacks while she can't have most easy things she is giving everyone else.

I do hope that making the food changes helps Sophia feel better. Hopefully it will encourage her to eat if everyone is eating it too.

Are you on Pinterest? They have endless food ideas & recipes for all kinds of meal plans.

I was laughing when I checked in after dinner & read that you made meatloaf too. No joke, that's what I just finished eating! I needed something that I could just throw in the oven tonight too. I'm helping our oldest daughter study for a test & needed my hands free.

Well, I need to get to quizzing her.

Hope you are having a good one.

New changes again in the family here. We had Sophia's endocrinology appointment today. We discussed her low blood sugar issues and we now have a glucose meter to check when she has the obvious signs of a drop. Below 70 and we need to make sure she has something sugary to drink (we're going to keep juice and chocolate milk on hand) but if it dips below 50 we have to call in immediately. It turns out that low blood sugar with Prednisone is almost unheard of - usually they deal with major high blood sugar issues. We aren't certain if hers is based on Prednisone, her disorders, or what. There are things that Prednisone could be throwing out of kilter that could cause low blood sugar but it is literally almost unheard of. We also have to change our entire family's eating habits. We are, none of us, big on eating 3 meals a day with snacks. However, since we are dealing with my hubby having the beginnings of diabetes, I may be having thyroid issues, and Sophia's got the low blood sugar issues, we will have to change the number of times a day we eat. So she isn't supposed to go more than 3 hours between meals/eating with the exception of while she is asleep. We are all supposed to be eating about like that as well. We'll have to start stocking up on edibles for those types of things. She rarely wants to eat so that is a problem for her (me too) and unlike my hubby and I, she won't eat things like eggs or the like. We are already trying to keep fruit and cheese (sticks) on hand. Now we need to actually find a few other things to keep.

I hope all is well in your world. Off to find my notebook for tonight's meeting and try to get dinner going. God bless!

I'm pretty proud of the fact that I not only got the corner shelves cleaned out but I reorganized and dusted them! I still have a lot to do but I've got things going in the right direction. I won't have time to work on them again until Thursday but I can get more done! Plus I've got books going out to new owners. :) I feel much better about starting the new school year in a few weeks.

I've been wearing some more comfortable pants recently and even though I like the idea I still know I need to lose weight. I will be working on a routine because Sophia needs to be doing stuff too. I don't know WHAT routine but I will be doing something. I wore some of my mom's old pants today all day and I really like them. They are almost yoga pant fit but they are a nicer material. I want to find a few more pairs (pockets are a must and these I wore today don't have any - I'm considering putting some together and on them because I need SOMETHING!) I have seen some online but I would like to find some to try in person first. We shall see.

We're waiting on dinner and everyone is getting a bit of a headache because we are hungry. I hate not knowing what I'm making in advance because we are just going to be sitting down at almost 8 pm. Oh well, at least we will be able to eat. :) Have a blessed rest of your day and praying for your sick kiddos to be well fast!

Organizing our school corner has got to be a priority this year. Last year I just shoved stuff off of Sophia's table and into a corner. This year I need to organize it because I can't stand the disaster it has become every other week! I haven't even sent off the last of this past school year yet so now I have to get moving on selling the last of the previous year's stuff and get this past year's stuff organized and photographed to sell. Also I need to reorganize the shelf with just the fun reading stuff in it because Sophia's created a black hole of crazy in it with her drawing stuff. I think she needs some organization for that stuff as well.

Tomorrow is going to be the crazy day with too many things going on to count. Funeral for a dear family friend immediately followed but blood draw for Sophia and a few hours later a doctor's appointment for my dad then taking Kat to work. Tuesday insanity will just about drive us all nuts. :p

We;re going to have to possibly take a drive up to where the family ranch is to do a few things to finally get Mom's portion transferred over into both mine and Kat's names. Then we may sell out that portion (with the rights to still use the land as family members) to one of my cousins because that is what my mom wanted us to do. Then maybe some day we can use the proceeds to get land that is in our family for generations to come. We'll see.

Well Sophia's bugging me for something to eat and even though she can get it herself she won't because she wants mommy time. Have a blessed day!

So happy to hear you are seeing the fruits of your work! Slow but steady wins the race! Keep up the good work 1 pound at a time.

Yes, setting up smaller goals is a good idea. Too much can be overwhelming!
I agree w/ you, don't go by just the scale. I hate pics of myself so I'll go by how my clothes feel, measurements & the scale.

Dreading the end of our break 😩 Dragging my feet to organize 'the closet' to order the next set of books.
But I know getting back into a regular routine is a good thing for us. My inner child is holding her breath! πŸ˜–

Glad to hear Sophia is feeling better.

Today has been filled dentist appts & youth group. I did get dinner in the oven early so I don't have to worry about that but hoping I get home in time to eat it before having to leaving for youth group. Maybe I can pack it with me πŸ€” I can eat it while I wait.

That's t for now.

Have a good one.
Take care & God bless,
Olga

Way to go! I'm starting to slowly see the weight going down. I have a LONG way to go in order to get even close to my goal weight. My first goal weight is 175. I'm just shy of 10 pounds away from that goal. I need to remember to set small and attainable goals. My ultimate weight is about 145 so 40 pounds (just shy) to drop to get there. Now that being said, if I start building muscle that weight is not the ultimate number, health and fitness are! My true goal is to be fit and healthy for a LONG life!

We are fighting an ugly urinary tract infection over here. Sophia got hit on Monday with it after a major blood sugar drop brought it to our attention. We still can't get through to our family practice so I'm treating homeopathically for now. We could use some prayers because that child is not patient when it comes to waiting for relief from pain or even just major discomfort.

Time to find some clothes to wear for the day. We have a doctor's appointment for Kat (oldest) and then meeting up with Sophia's newest besties! Mom (their's) is due in less than a week with baby number 3 (first boy) so we are trying to get time in before the crazy of new baby sets in!

I'm beyond done w/ my knees hurting. Since our youngest was born (was at 197 then) I've haven't past 152. Lost count how many times I have lost & gain the same 10-15 pounds. Well, I've been moving more, drinking more water, working on my sleep schedule, eating more veggies & less snacking. I'm down to just 4 pounds off from my lowest weight. My hope, my prayer is that I start 2019 at my goal weight! God willing I'll get it done! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I think I will have to work on some Pilates or the like for a bit. I can't put on closed-toe shoes because of the danged little toe on my left foot. I had wanted to check to see which of my Pilates DVDs were in working order so I guess this is how I'll do it. I have started taking regular pictures of my body to see what changes are happening. I'm sort of doing the intermittent fasting thing but not strictly. I think it is helping because today I looked at the pictures I took on Wednesday morning and compared them to the ones I did a few months ago and I could really see a difference. My gut isn't sticking out nearly as much, my legs are looking a bit more tone, and my arms are a bit more tone. This is without any real exercise so I think something is working! I know trying to cook more is helping as well. We will do it, my body and I! :p

As I said in the wall post, my foot had a run in with a shopping cart. I'm just thankful nothing is broken (as far as I can tell) but I will most likely lose the nail on the little toe. It is the one that has been damaged so many times over the years that it is probably going to be gone this time. We'll have to see.

I'm finally, slowly, selling the last of my school books from 2 years ago! One pair shipping out today. I'm really hoping that the rest go soon. I need more space to put the ones from this year out of the way so I can put in the new ones after we order curriculum mid-month/beginning of September.

We're going to start doing some serious toy sorting possibly tomorrow. Today we have too much to do out and about to attempt (again). We shall see how it goes!

Have a blessed Wednesday!

I feel your pain. Years ago when both the kiddos & I were younger I would do it after bedtime while they were sleeping or early am before they got up. Now being older but still having younger ones I can't do that anymore. I need sleep & coffee just doesn't help like it use to.

Not being able to keep it out of sight, out of mind I have to deal w/ the drama of letting go & complaints of 'don't put that away, I was just about to play w/ that!'. Yes, the struggle is real. Hope it goes well.

Two major areas are the toys & of course, the school closet for me. Most days I just close the door, out of sight, out of mind. But needing to work out I need a clear spot so I need to deal w/ it. Can't ignore the mess anymore.
The school closet I need to organize it before I order books so I don't overbuy, underbuy & only pay for shipping once. I hate when I find a book that I didn't need or still need to order after I thought I was done.

I had a repeat of working out behind the couch this am because the train tracks were still on the floor in front of the tv. Our oldest son is off today & tomorrow so he can help me move around the heavier & bulkier things around.

Right now I'm in the dentist's waiting room to then get Taco Tuesday going for dinner. I'll deal w/ organizing later.

On the bright side walking back & forth organizing toys will add to my step total.

Hope you are having a good one.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

I hear you! We are about to start 'restructuring' Sophia's toys! She has a desire for a number of things (already formulating her birthday list which isn't until the end of October!) In order for us to accommodate ANY new 'bigger' things we have to start getting rid of things. She has stuffed animals she hasn't even SEEN in over a year. We are going to go through and see what we can donate BACK to her hospital and the child life center there. We are also going to rearrange her bookshelf because books are her biggest passion right now (THANK YOU GOD!) She has two shelves filled with books and one which has 3 fabric storage cubes. We are going to go through those cubes, see what we can donate or toss (a ton of dang little cheap junk in one) and then move them to the top of her toy storage unit (Ikea step thing) so we can utilize the last shelf. She still have $15 of bookworm bucks to use! Needless to say this is going to be emotional for her because she hates having to get rid of things but it will be cathartic as well because she will be able to serve others by doing this.

As for exercise....what is that? Oh yeah! That thing I HAVE to get back to and help myself get fit and healthy with. :p I'm going to be checking out which of my Pilates DVDs are still working and start that again. Plus maybe some Wii sport and Just Dance! Also we have free range at a family friend's pool at their house and we haven't taken advantage of that. So we plan to try to go there at least 2 days a week to start working out there. (They have pool fitness equipment!) Needless to say it is going to be a process. I have a doctor's appointment later this month to get a full physical (first time since my hysterectomy in 2014) because no matter what I do I'm gaining instead of losing pounds. :p

Well I'm trying to get a few little things done in my office before Sophia wakes up. However I do need to make sure she is up and going in 20 minutes. Have a blessed day!

It's been too long since the last time I was here😱. Can't remember the last time I've checked in w/ my computer. It's been on my phone & well posting on the wall is quicker. Just need to scroll down a bit further to get here πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ.
Well this summer has been filled w/ my father in law moving by us & then moving back followed by my grandfather passing away. So needless to say, my exercise hasn't been getting done. So this am I dusted off my walking DVD & walked behind the couch. I didn't want to move the kiddos' train tracks but I seriously need to reorganize their play area so at least the space between the tv & couch is clear. Need to get this weight off. It's killing my knees & I'm not helping myself by just doing nothing. I do hope you & Sophia are staying cool this hot summer.
Take care & God bless,
Olga

The end is in sight! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel and it isn't a train! *snicker* We have 3 weeks left to go of this school year and then we are taking some time off. We will still probably work on multiplication and division as well as daily reading (I couldn't stop her from reading if I wanted to!) We may also start working on sign language because we don't really have a spot for that in our regular school time and that can be done just about anytime or anywhere. I HOPE to get to go on a few day trips around the area but I'm not promising anything.

I've fallen off the exercise wagon yet again but I am still eating basically the same as I was when I had jumped back on. I'm hoping that once things settle into a summer routine I can get back to it.

I hope all is well with everyone here. We just need to believe in ourselves and that God has got this! Have a great weekend all!

Thank you GOD for finally starting 4th quarter! Plus for finally getting 2nd quarter work ready to mail. Today is the first day for 4th quarter and it is pretty much an easy day. Math is reading and discussion only. I love easier days to start off a new quarter! We have blood draw at 1:40 and it is run-off day for our primary elections so we have to get to that before the end of the day as well.

I'm so glad that you had a good formal dance! We miss doing that type of thing. Maybe we can get started with a co-op this coming year and we can start moving towards more social activities as well. We are going to start swim lessons next week for Sophia because the ones she has had haven't 'stuck' and she NEEDS to get confident in the water before the summer really gets going. We also have tennis camp coming up soon as well. (Which reminds me I need to register her today.) She does enjoy time with others but we just have to be so careful right now with her increased dose of Prednisone. She should be better with it again once we settle into a dose for a long period of time.

As to the Prednisone...we are dealing with extreme bloating and puffiness again. She is very uncomfortable in many of her clothes because she is so bloated. It is breaking my heart but I know that once we are on a set dose she will start to lose that again. It takes SO long though. I guess we will get some larger undies and shorts for a while. She can always use them again later once she grows again. Prayers for her and for my heart as she goes through this are needed and much appreciated.

Time to 'make the donuts' as they say! Have a blessed Tuesday.

Life has been pretty much insane for a long while now. I could use some less insane times but I know that won't happen. This morning we are desperately trying to complete 3rd quarter work but it won't happen. We have to be out the door in 40 minutes to get ready for the Rosary Serenade tonight. Fortunately I only have to put on base and blush because a friend who is a makeup artist is doing our eyes for us. Another friend is doing our hair for us. I have to finish picking out what I'm wearing. I have to get Kat to make a copy of her music for the organist. We have to be down at the church by 5/5:30 so we can open up everything and get ready. Prayers would be very much appreciated! :)

I hope you got some sleep. I was still up when you sent your post this morning.

You & Sophia have been in my thoughts & prayers. I know it's been a tough time for you with your mom & Sophia's friend both passing away. Can't be easy & now your dad too along with 'life'.

Things here have been a handful. Long winter & now record breaking highs. Yeah, sinuses here are on fire.
Father in law has moved here, went back for a month & 1/2 only to return tomorrow & you guessed it me picking him up at 8:40am.
Crazy busy getting ready for the formal Sat. 100 things to do!

Well, it's 1:30am & I need some sleep before my alarm goes off.

We did blood work yesterday and we started to see eosinophils again but we are doing a slight dose drop for a week to see how that works. If it doesn't we can easily go back up the small step we went down. The attorney yesterday was a long drawn out way of saying we still have steps to take to fix the craziness that went into my parents getting a family trust. This solidifies for me that we will most likely just do wills for ourselves instead of getting into one of these convoluted trusts.

Wish me luck on selling my curriculum tomorrow. I've been trying to sell it for almost a year now and it still sits in a box under my sewing/embroidery table. It isn't a ton - just last year's main curriculum and a little from year before, but it is driving me crazy seeing it sitting there. I can't get to things because it is there.

I'm still working on getting a regular routine in place for working out. I get in a rhythm and then get thrown off again by any little thing. I know it is mental and not physical so I need to overcome that mental blip I have. The pounds are the same but I'm feeling a small difference in my clothing. I'm sort of refusing to listen to the scale for now.

Have a blessed Wednesday. Time to get some little girl really moving so we aren't stuck here all the danged day!

Busy, crazy week here. Yesterday we had school both at home and at my dad's eye appointment. Then we went to practice for our special Rosary Serenade in honor of my mom that will be this Friday evening. She began these at our church a number of years ago as a way to spotlight our choir members and honor Mary and the Rosary. This will be a special night for all of us.

Today we have school (review for the tests that come this week - end of 3rd quarter) then Sophia has blood work and we have a meeting with a friend who is an attorney to try to complete the requests of mom with regard to land and such. Tomorrow we will just work our tushes off with school and Thursday as well. I hope to have everything but one test and book report done prior to Friday so we can spend much of the day preparing for that evening.

We could use some prayers for today. Sophia's allergies are on high alert and with her blood draw today it could really be a jump again in her eosinophils, though going in knowing she has really nasty allergies we can adjust our expectations on what to see. Off to get someone motivated or we will never get done with school today! God bless.

Thank you for the prayers. I know we will all need them.

We've had a weird week this week, again, but we will persevere because that's just what we do. Lots of late start days but we have been flying through school with each late start so I can't complain too much. I'm trying to eat more regularly and also trying to do a bit more healthy. I can't go whole hog into Keto but I'm working on being a bit more protein and good fats with a few less carbs. We'll see how that goes. So far I'm just struggling to convince myself to eat anything at all. I just don't have a real desire to eat but that isn't good either. I'm just going to have to keep pushing myself!

Well time to start lessons for the day. Have a wonderful Thursday!

I missed my strength workout yesterday but I did walk all over the place with the girls. Today I think I will try again. Sadly the allergens are kicking all of our rumps! I also need to go pick up some more printer paper because we are just about out and we have school this week to get done.

I'm praying for all of our team. We are coming up on Mother's Day! I'm afraid of how I will react as this will be my first without my Momma. Sophia is crowning the Blessed Virgin and I'm just certain I'm going to be an absolute mess. I already was last year because mom was in the hospital dealing with low sodium and missed Mass then. This year I just don't know. I'm already having vacillating emotions day to day because I'm missing her so much.

Oh well, I can only do what I can do. I'm hoping that all of my working out will get me down in inches if not in pounds. We are all working on our eating (adults that is) so that should help as well. Time to run go get Kat from her little anime con she went to this afternoon. Wish me luck! I don't like the idea of having to run in to find her! :p

Sounds like you are doing great! So glad to hear Sophia has been able to lower her med dose.

Here I thought things would slow down a bit after getting ready & getting through our daughter'a big 1st Holy Communion weekend. NOT A CHANCE. Turns out not only is my husband going out of town but our 2 oldest sons too. This along with dentists appts & a vet check up I had to push back because of my knees. All this while getting ready for our oldest daughter formal dance in 19 days!

Last night we worked on the table runners. It's a classic Hollywood theme & we made red carpets for the tables with white table cloths. On top of the red runners are black cloth squares that shimmer & we still need to get the gold stars but have the black clapboards to go on top. It's going to look great when it's done. It's the getting there that might do me in! Feeling my age when I can't move like I want or need too.

Enough of my complaining. I have a long list of things to do including laundry, cleaning the van, dentist appt, running errands, picking up the house & schoolwork. Well at least it's Taco Tuesday!

Hope you are having a good one!

I swear I'm not a complete goof! Yesterday was just about the most haphazard day I've had in a long while and we still didn't get all we needed done. However, and this is important to me, Sophia and I got in a 28 minutes of strength training! I'm DONE being weaker and less happy with my body and health! Taking ME back NOW! :p Even if I have to flip my lid to do it.

Today we got a super late start. Another nightmare at 4:30 this morning set us back at least an hour getting up. Then because we didn't get Sophia's meds yesterday we had to get the the pharmacy this morning to pick them up because we didn't have enough for today's first dose. That made us late getting back to take meds and her to have some breakfast. (The higher doses require her to have food.) So we just started school at 11:45! Thankfully we can hold off on both math and english lessons until Monday because we have a list of things we have to do this afternoon before taking Kat to work for the night shift tonight.

Say a prayer we don't kill each other today! :p God bless

Oh wow! I thought I was the only one! I have contacts that help me with my shooting (distance) and everything like that but I can't read when wearing them for anything! So I went and got a cheap ($4) pair of cute reading glasses to read with them in! I wear my regular glasses 99% of the time still because I don't have more than the 1 pair of contacts but I hate having to switch from glasses to prescription sunglasses and such every time I get in and out of the car or I'm outside for a long period of time! My friend got laser eye correction done about 2 years ago and she loves it. The way they did it her left eye is for close vision and her right is for far. She hasn't needed anything but sunglasses since. I would love to have it done but I just can't afford it. (She is a military wife and they were doing it for free on base at that time because they were using it as a teaching opportunity - we have a teaching hospital on the one base here.)

Best wishes on your search for tumeric tea. I have heard of it but I've never seen it or tried it. I love peppermint tea because it helps my stomach. I don't drink much other than water though. Caffeine tries to kill me! Sodas and coffee cause me major migraines. I gave up long ago on those so I am a water baby. ;)

Time to get a 7 year-old moving on school so we can get our crazy busy day done! God bless!

You got it dude! Having a Full House Flashback. πŸ“Ί

To help my knee pain I'm including more foods that reduce inflammation &
decreasing foods that cause inflammation. I'm allowing myself small amounts in moderation like this past weekend so I can still be a part of things & I have noticed a difference. I did try some peppermint tea to help clear me out of all the richer foods I had like my mom's homemade rice pudding & it worked like a charm. I've also increased drinking green tea & reduced my coffee intake. I'm going to give turmeric tea a try. I discovered that helps with inflammation too.

I just need to find it 1st. We are in a rural area & the closest major city is 30-40 minutes away. That's why we usually have better luck shopping on Amazon. I try to keep my errand running to 1 day, ususally Wed, so I'm driving into town just 1st a week. Church & most Homeschool activities are 35-45 minutes away.

I know what you mean about pictures! I saw my picture on Sunday & I looked awful! Doesn't help that the camera always adds pounds no matter what weight I am.

Sat I'm going to get contacts. On my 2nd pair of bifocals & I hate them. I still end up taking them off to read. So I'm going to get contacts for distance & simple reading glasses. I'm hoping I can swing it.

Well, that's it for me! Hope you are having a good one!

Take care & God bless,
Olga

YAY! God is good! :) We have been enjoying some really interesting things we haven't done with Sophia this week. We got to go to the River Parade and she had a blast! She is really enjoying Fiesta this year.

Yesterday we had our first weekly blood draw to check her eosinophils (which are her main medical issue) and thankfully they have dropped back to 0 and that means we were able to drop her Prednisone dose from 40ml per day to 20ml per day! I am so happy because she has been suffering all the past week with some really nasty side effects from the danged stuff! Nightmares, joint and muscle pain, appetite issues, mood swings (oh the mood swings), itching, swelling in her face and belly...it has just been bad. Hopefully and prayerfully dropping it this much will help to alleviate those to some degree.

Time to get my rear in gear. I took some accountability pictures this morning and oh do I despise them! I cannot be and stay healthy this way. I have to get moving and motivated! Let's do this!

Thank God we got through all the prep work for the big weekend. Family arrived & the house was full of happy noises. We had cook outs Sat & Sun with a taco night Fri. Normally we keep all Fridays meatless but this one we made an exception. It's was a great meal to make & share with visiting family. Sunday's weather was beautiful! Our oldest daughter curled her hair in foam curls the night before & finished it Sunday morning. Our youngest daughter was glowing! The rain held off until Mon and it's been raining ever since. It's Wed & I'm feeling the effects of too many treats!
It's back to business!

Sophia 1st Holy Communion sounds wonderful.

My thoughts & prayers are with you. It's so difficult to understand why meds that are made to help you create other problems in the process. Hope & pray you all get through it.

Little by little I have gotten through my painting projects that I started before Easter. I just finished the 3rd coat on the front door. I'm going to clean up the edges and touch it up tomorrow in hopes that is all it needs. After my 'break' I need to get dinner going (taco Tues) then start back on cleaning. My goal is to have everything done by Thurs before family arrives on Fri.

Well, need to get back to it.

Singing and dancing on cloud 9! Sophia's First Holy Communion was just beautiful! Earlier in the week our favorite priest had let us know that he wouldn't be the one doing it because while he was on his vacation they changed up the schedule. We were okay with that, if a bit disappointed, because we do love all of our priests who work with our parish. So we were mentally and emotionally prepared for our sweet little semi-retired priest to be the one celebrating Mass yesterday. I was talking to my bestie (I'm the godmommy to her youngest) when I looked up and there came our favorite priest in the church! He couldn't miss it because of how much he loves Sophia! He was just wonderful! He mentioned her at least 10 times during Mass, had her come up all by herself to receive first, came right down to her level and talked her through every step, and then had us come up to have her sacramentals blessed! It was just almost the best thing ever...only things that would have made it better is my momma being there and not having had to rush around the night before to get food for the afternoon. Thank you for all of your prayers! :)

Glad to hear you survived cleaning your dad's house. I can see how that could be overwhelming. Cell phones, a pain to live with & can't go without. Hope it works out.

Currently, I'm boiling eggs while getting the kitchen back together.
I've got the curtain up along with the pictures & corner wall protector. I want to get something new for the wall that had the calendar, shopping list & menu. Something pretty haven't gotten it yet but I did find these oversized fork & spoon that would look so cool on the accent wall. I just need to get my hubby on board.

The rest of the day with be doing laundry, cleaning & getting things ready for tomorrow.

Hope you are having a good one.

Time to take care of my silly phone! We are heading to the cell phone store today to switch my daddy to his own account and set up a new one with just my oldest and my own phone. My current phone got dropped a few too many times and while I had the glass replaced they couldn't fix the internal infernal problems! I just want to see if they can help me save my mom's text messages. They mean too much to just lose! :/

I'm praying everyone has a blessed Holy Saturday! Time to go check out a few things around the house before we attempt to get moving on things out of the house. God bless!

I survived yesterday! *cheering crowd roars* My daddy was so happy he took us girls out to dinner before having to drop Kat off at school and going in to Mass. I'm feeling moving all of the heavy furniture and such but it was all for a good cause and it really helped everyone feel better. :)

Today I have an appointment to get my hair trimmed so we are actually taking a math break because that would drag out our morning by over an hour! It was word problem practice - 10 problems. Some little I know is quite excited that we are taking a break!

I pray everyone has a blessed Good Friday. I have a list of things I wish to complete before this evening but I shan't run myself ragged to do them. They can be done tomorrow as well. :) Off to the phonics session!

Well, math & the weekly chapter of 'King of the Golden City' is still left undone. It will carry over into the weekend if not finished by tomorrow.

I still need to get the corner wall protector then I can move the kitchen table back. Then it's getting the house ready for Easter Sunday!

Hope your Easter prep is going well!

Yes, schoolwork, housework ......
if it was easy & fun it won't be called work. Yes, that's life!

Hope you are having a good one!

We cleaned house here yesterday and this afternoon we will clean at my daddy's house. Kat has night class tonight so she cannot make Mass but she will be with us for the rest of the Triduum. I actually have a hair appointment tomorrow for the first time in 6 months - I'm just getting my hair trimmed but I am in desperate need of some time JUST for me and to get the few little things we give Sophia for Easter. Sophia will get to have some grandpa time while I'm out and about. :)

I'm praying we can all get school done before the weekend! We're on day 3 here and only have one more day but someone is dragging a bit - well 2 someones (both of us) because we would rather focus on some fun stuff. Oh well, that is part of life, right?

Have a blessed Holy Thursday!

YES, Holy Thursday is here. I'm finally done with painting. Now it's just getting the kitchen cleaned & back together again. We need to get the house ready for Easter & with chocolate treats on Sunday everyone is willing to help.

We can't make it to church today so we will have EWTN's Holy Thursday's Mass starting at 5:30 on.
Our oldest will have to work both today & Easter so he will be watching on his phone EWTN's broadcast. As long as he is able work will let him watch it.

God-willing we will finish this week's schoolwork today so we can have Good Friday & Holy Saturday free.

Well, I need to get to it.

Hope you have a blessed Holy Thursday.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

One more full day here and then the craziness that is Holy Triduum begins! As 90% of the choir we will be busy as can be for the entire 5 days. Tomorrow night (minus Kat because she has night class) we will begin, Friday night we will be completely a cappella, Saturday unless Kat doesn't work Sophia will come with me for Vigil Mass, Sunday it will be the big glorious day. I just pray everyone remains well and sane! :p

I am adding all of you to our prayers during this holy season. School is in session today but after a very stormy morning the clouds have cleared and the sun is beaming through the window at me. I wish we didn't have things to do because we would be outside playing! Here's to a great day for all of you! :)

I joke with my kiddos that what I want is a bunch of minions to come to my house. Each has a job to do, one cooks, one does laundry, one cleans the bathroom etc.

I'm still painting the kitchen. I would have been done by now but the color I choose no one liked so I had to paint over with primer in order to completely change it. So it wasn't until Sat night after coming back from driving our 7 year old to a church event with her 1st Communion Class & getting our 13 year old to church to serve Mass did I get back with the new paint.
This one, thank God, everyone liked. So I still need to add another coat of paint on the accent wall & touch ups on the main color before I can start getting the kitchen back together. Right now everything is in the dinning room on the kitchen table.

Well, I hope you have a good one. I just realized that not only do I have to finish painting & get the kitchen back to normal but I have to get ready for Easter 😱. I'll blame it on the paint fumes. What was I thinking!

Keep me from smacking my 25 year-old today, please! My daddy finally has someone coming tomorrow to do a deep clean on the house like hasn't been done before my mom got sick & she isn't available to help us put things up so the house can GET cleaned. I did everything but physically restrain her from going to a birthday event for her boyfriend's youngest twin siblings because it has been planned for over a month. My dad wouldn't let me stop her even though he is going to fuss at ME that the things didn't get put up today. I need help but he can't and Sophia is too small to do much except put her things away there. Yeah I need to be restrained!

So I am asking for some prayers. Sophia's appointment gave us a chance to realize that her numbers are creeping up again and we will have to increase her Prednisone dosage to combat those danged eosinophils. That means we will once again go through all of the side effects of Prednisone that we have basically gotten under some control over 5 years. That means insomnia, 'roid rage, mood swings, appetite issues and possibly even the steroid bloating. I'm going to ask if we can hold off on the changes until after her First Communion because she is already feeling the nerves of that big event without having to add to that with the side effects. Thanks in advance for the prayers!

Yes, I can understand that completely switching to the stay at home mindset from a more structured time schedule.
Don't get me wrong, staying at home vs working outside the home isn't easier just different, still work. One major thing I see that happens when you stay at home is you need to be more flexible with your schedule so you can stay focused on getting it done just in a different order.
When I worked outside the home my schedule was set, work was these hours, I could only do shopping, cooking, etc these hours and so on. There was very little flexibility. It was the same schedule so you just did it. As to when your schedule is subject to change it requires you a little time & energy (at least for me) to think of what the plan is for the day/week. For me days that I'm having to adjust on the fly, constantly thinking on my feet, going a mile a minute, multitasking, yeah, it drains me vs days things that go as usual, follow the normal plan & as expected.

Yes I agree, giving yourself some decompressing time is a good idea.
I've gotten bad about that too.

All in moderation!!!

Well I need to get some sleep. The weather is a bit colder than it was 1st expected earlier this week so no outside painting tomorrow so I'll be working on the kitchen instead. Hopefully the weather will be better next weekend.

Hoping your Friday is a good one!!

Thanks for the internet push! I feel more able today to do more but we have been slammed all day. Maybe I just need to stand up or sit up and do things while I'm watching a show to decompress at night. I used to all of the time when I worked full time but since I've been home (since 2009) I just can't seem to do it much any longer. It is mental and physical! :p

Have a blessed evening! My hubby said after me dealing with doctor stuff all day (daddy and Sophia) that I'm not to cook tonight. I'll take it! ;)

I so wish I had an answer to this struggle you, me & countless moms face:
the balance of meeting your family's needs along with yours.

For me it's this struggle added to the fact that I'm older, l move slower w/ my body complaining, I have more people to look after than when I was younger with more energy & less achy body parts.

I can't give you a push in person so I'm sending you this across the internet!

The only advice I can give you is something my good friend, homeschooling mom of 9 gave me, she starts everyday in prayer asking for God's grace to get her through her day. She looks towards Our Lady to make it through her day. Honestly, when I remember to do that my day turns out better.

For me I try to make a list/outline of what needs to be done & I post it on my frig. It helps me to see what needs to be done,( along w/ everyone else) what needs my attention 1st & motives me when I'm able to check something off the list.

Speaking of things to do, I need to get moving on mine.

Hope you are having a good one!

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you. May He look upon you with kindness and always give you His peace.

Okay I have a quandary that we probably all have in some way or another. I'm finding taking care of me nigh on to impossible because I'm dealing with everyone else! It isn't that I don't have a little time but by the time I'm done with taking care of my girls, my daddy, and my hubby, not to mention the dog I just don't have the desire to do something for me! I know I need to take the time to work on things for me but I just haven't got the external motivation even though I tell myself a dozen times an hour at least that I need to do SOMETHING! I have options here at home but I haven't done them. Part of the problem is footwear and foot/ankle issues. I mean I can walk up at the university (Sophia loves going up there with me either on her 4 wheeler or on foot), I can do pilates or simple strength stuff here, but all of it just isn't getting done. I need someone to come to my house and literally push me to do it. I don't have that so I keep adding pounds and inches to my miserable skeleton! Anyone want to come to Texas and push me????

Pardon the language but obviously God thinks some of us are bad asses. I swear I don't feel as if I am but the hits keep coming and I keep going.

We're actually trying to do 2 days of school in one because we never were able to complete the last day of the week last week. We have a day full of doctor's appointments on Thursday so we can't take an extra day to do it this week so therefore we combined! I'm a little put off by the idea but so far we are swinging along.

Say a little prayer for a dear friend who lost her momma yesterday morning. She fought a long while after getting a bit of bronchitis that turned to pneumonia and finally to lung failure. :( So many friends losing their parents recently. Mortality is just being shoved in our faces! Plus 2 friends lost their husbands - 42 and 49! Both very suddenly.

Thanks ladies. Time to focus on little one again - she is almost done with independent work. :) God bless!

Wow, you have had a crazy few months. I have to tell you the saying, 'God doesn't give you more than you can handle', makes me think that God may over estimate just what I can handle or He just sets the bar REALLY high. Either way, I'm yelling 'when' but it still keeps coming. I do hope your schedule settles down so you can get done what needs to be done especially for Sophia's FHC. I have just about a month to get ready for our youngest FHC.
You are in my thoughts & prayers.

Well, I need to get to it!

Take care & God bless,

Oh ladies I have missed you! This has been a rough and weird couple of months. My daddy's car decided to go belly up and I'm now the sole transportation for him for everything. I love being able to do it but it has literally turned things upside down. We have been struggling to get school done for weeks. It wouldn't bother me so much if we weren't in the last weeks of prepping for my sweetest little's First Holy Communion on 4/15! We keep having to throw things to the wind and she is getting a little frustrated because I'm so disorganized due to the constant changes daily.

That being said I'm also struggling with HUGE weight gain. I'm nearly back to my highest weight I actually know I was. I haven't been able to get to the gym because I hit the bed at ungodly late hours after trying desperately to relax some before heading there. By the time I finally am up for the day I've lost the little time that the Kid's Klub is available for Sophia to go play in while I'm trying to kick my rear into some sort of shape. I've tried to get motivated to do things at home but it just isn't working either. I had so intended to be back at least into the 160s again by FHC but I'm not even going to probably make it down to the 170s again. I was SO close and then all of this new upheaval started and it crept back up into the mid 180s. I am not really eating any worse or differently than I was while I was seeing some downward movement but I just can't seem to get it to go back down!

Please know that all of you are in our prayers. I KNOW we can all do this! We have to keep at it because without us our families would flounder. I am seeing it right now in my own with my sweet momma being gone. Take care of YOU so we can take care of them! :)

God bless.

2018 hasn't gone as I planned. This winter I've been really struggling with my knees & legs with pain that has stopped me in my tracks. It's even keeping me for being able to sleep. Of course moving less & not fully resting only encourages the scale to move up. This added to the decrease access I've had on my computer & well months have gone by since I've been here. I'm so sorry, I have missed the support of this team!

I noticed that the 1st day of Spring will finally arrive next week!!! Thank God! It's been a long & cold winter! I so need it to be over.

I've had a serious case of winter blues both physically & emotionally. Dealing with the pain in my knees & legs this winter has really gotten me down. It has slowed me down & it's been difficult to keep my spirits up when my body feels like it's not working for me.

I can't go on like this. Our youngest daughter's 1st Holy Communion is on April 22 & we are having family coming to visit. I need to be in better shape both physically & emotionally to be able to get through it. I owe it to myself & my family to be at my best for it.

I need to not only get myself back in shape but also our house! Lots to do!

So it's time to make a list, check it twice & get it done, one by one.

1st getting back online. My loving husband has gotten my laptop up & running again. I'm finally able to access SP on my phone again!!

2nd make up a plan to continue to tackle daily school & house work while working on making slow progress with the bigger projects. Goal: to be ready by the weekend of April 22nd!

3rd making peace with my physical limitations & reminding myself that slow progress is better than NO PROGRESS.

Well, that's all I have for now. I'm having another restless night. I'm currently using heating pad in the hopes it will help relax my tense muscles & let me SLEEP! We have a long & busy day filled with the kiddos activities all day long!

I do feel better to be able to post on here after so long. I'm not going to be a stranger any more!!!!

Take care & God bless,
Olga

Today, I tackle paper and the Home School area! Our office are in the basement and my house is storage-deprived. I have my mind set on organizing. I read Marie Kondo's, "Spark Joy", in a desperate attempt to reform my pack-rat ways and get rid of stuff. This is not going to be easy!

Marie Kondo says start with clothes. Collect everything you have and touch each item. If it makes you happy, you keep it. She said that you should NOT think of how much you have to throw out, just think about what you love and keep those things. I got rid of a lot of clothes, and then books, but now I am trying papers. FEAR!!!

Everyone, please set some time to do something for yourself. You are all worth it.

Please be patient, God is not finished with me yet.

I'll add you to our prayers! Lots going on around here but rarely is it taking care of me. Time to focus a little on mommy or there won't be a mommy around. We (moms) often forget that if we don't take care of ourselves our families won't have us to do what families need to do. Take care!
God bless.

Sorry I haven't been here. My daughter is giving me a lot of trouble with her schooling and the counselor is giving me a lot of homework to do to get her working again.

I've been doing very little on SparkPeople. I haven't even had enough time to watch my diet or exercise. I hope everyone is doing better...

I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in August last year and I've still got a long way to go to be 'recovered' from it. 2017 can go on record as being my worst year ever. We are chugging along in 2018 and praying for every day.

God bless!

This has been a very long and stressful 2017 and 2018 is beginning to settle down a bit. I am hoping for a better year. Lost my mom last June, which is still hard and my father in law in September. So these two losses have taken a toll on me.
Now we have taken over my mother in law's care and this is a bit stressful but happy to help my husband.
Blessings to all and have a great week!!

So I've typed this in 10 times but my computer kept eating it. So here we go!

2018 needs to be OUR year! I've lived through several bad years in a row. This year I'm taking some time for me! I plan to put together a few challenges throughout the year. IF anyone has a challenge idea don't hesitate to let me know.

God bless!
