Anne, I have load two of laundry going and will probably do at least three more before bedtime. Be careful with all that vacuuming, you don't want to overdo it. The place where DD2 has been dogsitting has one of those robotic vacuums and they love it. They got a message on their phone in Georgia that the vacuum was stuck so asked DD2 to put it back on the base. I think we have reached the age of the old cartoon, The Jetsons! We have trouble with our comforters ( and sheets ) fitting as well. We tried king sheets but they were too big and the queen are really tight . We have to make the bed together and pull hard to get the fitted sheet on snugly. Did you wind up seeing a movie or strolling around the Bass Pro Shop? emoticon to leaving the casino with extra cash!

Dianne, that is really sweet of you to try that cabbage and noodle recipe for the resident. Is it a cold dish or a hot one? I'm sorry but I had to laugh at your comment that 69 degrees wasn't too warm. Our friend in Hospice isn't taking visitors but our friend at home is. Sadly, the doctor dropped the ball and didn't run the tests she should have in December or he would have been able to have the surgery already instead of having to endure immunotherapy first. Luckily he sought out another doctor and they got him in to see a doctor in Madison the very next day. Landon's parents never taught him any signs and I have tried but he just doesn't do it. All of them except the newborn sign "more" so he should have that one but he doesn't. You can always use Facebook and I can pass along any news you wish. Texting works too!

DD1 and I played a 13 round game of Mexican Train dominoes yesterday and Scrabble today, it was great. She has gone home but she did text to say she is already packed for our overnight in Appleton next weekend.

Time to check the laundry and change for Mass at 6.

Hello! I ended up working on the deck yesterday--set up the patio table and chairs, trimmed back the daisies in the pots so they won't be so gangly and opened windows! So we didn't really get out to do anything but I was outside in the nice weather. We also went for lunch at Texas Roadhouse and then stopped at DQ for an ice cream cone. I tried the creamsicle dip and liked it!

Sounds like everyone had a good Friday/Saturday. I hope Terri is doing okay at the canyon. We didn't get too warm--only about 69 but it was warm in the sun. So nice! And the daffodils are blooming!

Betsy--glad you had DD1 home. I hope your visit to the friend in hospice was a good one--I am looking forward to our visit and also not...still don't like that it is happening, even if he has accepted it. I hope Landon starts to connect more words with their meanings--no sign language for him? I didn't do that with my kids but would have had it been really suggested. My dad tried to use a lawnmower to cut his toe nails way back when--didn't work and he wore steel toed boots from then on when mowing the grass. Glad DH had his boots on--I always wanted someone else around when ANYONE uses a chainsaw.

Cathy--glad DH had some help with his strawberry bed. Hope you don't pay for all the work you did!! Take it easy! Wow--what a short day for those kids--but I do wonder how much they get out of it....

Anne--glad you had help with the cleaning--I am sure you are doing a bit more than you should!! My dad would also love poking around in Bass Pro--but his fishing buddy died so Dad doesn't have access to the easy-to-launch boat and doesn't get out very often anymore. He cannot lift his john boat by himself anymore. I like fishing but haven't since I needed a license 45 years ago!

This week will be odd--have to get all my chores done by Wed night--then I'll be gone a full week. I may not get on here at all--not taking the laptop along and I don't do very well on the phone. I will be glad to be home for Mom's surgery--this is the one she was supposed to have last March but she had Lymes and they didn't do it.

I am trying a new recipe tonight--one of the gals in assisted living was telling me about haluski--cabbage and noodles--and the recipe popped up in an email so I will make it and maybe take her a little bit to try. brooklynfarmgirl.com/polish-
cabbage-an

I haven't tried it yet but looks pretty easy.

Betsy, glad DD1 was able to have some sister time with DD2. Yay to soft serve ice cream sundaes! Thank God your DH had those L.L. Bean boots on! Bleech to that injury! Hope the kids aren't too crazy and can get back into your routine quickly! Hope you had a nice visit with your friend. Be careful with that arm!

Cathy, it was nice of that teacher to come help Howard. I'm sure he appreciated the assistance! Sounds like you worked out more than you should have...and you are warning me, lol! Glad the colors are coming out...I noticed some daffodil shoots by the rectory window when I was there Friday...they still have some growing to do before the flowers bud.

Dianne, did you find something fun to do yesterday? You are right...some (many, I think) parents don't know how to parent! How did Sunday school go with the students teaching?

Terri, hope all is well in the canyon...or are you back in the log home?

We are supposed to get rain later this afternoon. It is a bit windy...7 - 10 mph. The clouds are starting to grey up the sky and the sun isn't appearing as much or as strong as it had been earlier this morning. Cathy is right...it is Spring! It can rain all it wants...no more snow!

We got all our laundry done (3 loads) and changed our linens and put the new comforter on. I was disappointed with the new comforter...we bought a King sized one instead of a Queen or Full/Queen with the hopes it would hang more...nope! However, if the King seems to be the width of a Queen I can't imagine what the Queen or Full/Queen would have covered! We do not have one of those super tall mattresses either...though it isn't a shortie either. I think it is about 10" or thereabouts, not 18" like some of them! I also vacuumed...yup I did it, lol! Since we also flipped the mattress, I mean turned...no more flipping them...another thing that bugs me about mattresses, I thought it would be good to vacuum up any of the residual dog hairs that my sister may have missed or that settled from the bed linens since Odin liked to come visit me and J in the room periodically. J moved the furniture and picked up things (like the small area rug by the door) while I just pushed the vacuum around. Afterwards I cleaned the filters and the unit...hope I didn't get the motor wet...although having to get a new vacuum wouldn't bother me...I hate the "stick" style vacuum...the motor by my hand is too warm and too heavy...I'd prefer to drag the canister around or push the motor by the floor. When we finished we decided to go out for a while and grab a bite to eat while out. We ended up going to Plainridge Casino and eating at Doug Flutie's...J had a chicken parmesan hoagie and I had a cowboy burger (cheese burger with BBQ sauce & Ranch dressing and onion rings on top of the burger). We both were very pleased with our meals. J actually hit and we brought home what we went with plus another $300. Yay! That is very unusual, lol!

No plans for today...think I'll check the movie theaters to see what's playing. If nothing, I may suggest going to BassPro and walking around...I'm sure J would really like that...it's almost fishing season for him!

Have a Blessed Sunday!

Anne

Cathy, you're welcome for helping out your stock. Did you get stock when you worked there?
Whenever it was, it was a great investment as I don't see Wal-Mart closing like so many other stores have. Yes, DD1 arrived while we were visiting our friends and she took DD2 to a local seasonal soft serve place that she loves. She thoroughly enjoyed her hot fudge brownie sundae. emoticon Even though it was cold DH said he would grill emoticon so we had an indoor picnic for supper and it was wonderful. I love the taste and smell of grilled food. You're right, we probably should invest in a small chainsaw but I like the idea of having somebody else around when he does that. Why? Many years ago he called me from the ER after driving himself to the hospital with a wound emoticon from dropping a chainsaw on it! The doctor said his LL Bean boot saved his foot because if he hadn't had it on, the chainsaw would have removed it!
I think I have been around young children emoticon far too long because at first I thought you meant Howard wanted a strawberry shaped bed to sleep on! emoticon emoticon Thanks for the explanation on why your students are picked up so early, that makes perfect sense. DD2 was in an early childhood exceptional ed. classroom and although class was over at 3:30,the poor little girl didn't get home until around 5:15 when her bus dropped her off! She went to bed around 7 so we barely saw her on the days she had school.

DD1 will probably leave in the early afternoon and then it will be time for as much laundry and cleaning as my arm allows. The coming week will be a bit crazy because I will be back to a full house after vacations and breaks.

Blessings!

Anne, so glad your sister cleaned the house for you since a lot of it you can't do yet. I bet it does feel funny not having anyone there now. Did you and J do anything fun yesterday?
Dianne, how nice was it up your way? We got to 76 and it was very warm in the sun. I forgot to comment on the eye injection the other day. I am glad it is not me---like Betsy, said, I would imagine my bp would go so high that I would end up in the hospital if they tried to do that---gives me the shivers thinking about it. Did you do anything fun?
Betsy, Did dd1 come yesterday? Thanks for helping my stock---LOL Sounds like you need to invest in a small electric chainsaw for your dh. We got ours for under $100 at Harbor Freight--it might even have been less than 50. And we are thinking of a small chain saw on a long pole to cut down higher branches.
My co-worker that lives close by that I give a ride to work came over yesterday and helped Dh put together his new strawberry bed. Now all he has to do is layer in the landscape fabric and fill it with dirt, then transplant the strawberry plants. While they worked on that I worked on cleaning out some of the beds over by the fence that had a lot of leaves and some weeds growing that are easy to get out. Boy, was that hard work as it required a lot of bending over. With the bending and the sun, I didn't feel too good after I finished and had to come back inside. But those 2 beds look good now so I am glad of that.
I did go visit the greenhouses and things have started to pop with color there----it just made me happy---and there were crazy customers buying stuff already! I will start volunteering there next Saturday.
OH, Betsy, the kids start at 7:45 but half of our class get picked up early at 2 because they all ride handicapped buses and there are a lot of those kids in our county---they often run 2 shifts or more. Some of our handicapped don't get picked up until 3---and that includes some next door to our room. All those buses have to have an aide on them to watch out for the kids and secure the wheelchairs into place for the driver.
Wish the kids joined gangs because their parents were working multiple jobs---most of those parents live off State money for the kids that they ignore or spend on drugs.
Supposed to rain today so won't be as nice as the last 2 days. Weather will be much cooler this week than last week---oh, well, that is Spring for you.

Dianne, DS lives 1 1/2 blocks from the Capitol building so they are close to all the action, just like he wanted. It's great that you'll be "home" for your mother's surgery, both of you will feel better. I'm with Anne, yikes to the eye injections, I would need to be sedated. Everyone deserves respect but somehow in this country, often the very young and the very old don't get it. emoticon

Anne, how nice that your sister cleaned emoticon your house for you, she couldn't have timed her move any better! Cuddling Mia has been great, especially since Nellie was gone all week so she couldn't be jealous. Landon is making improvements but he still has a long way to go. He will repeat ( or at least try) to repeat words but the only word that he associates with meaning is "wawa" for water. He sounds like a siren when he says it and it's pretty cute but his behavior still isn't. Yesterday he threw a Hot Wheels truck at me but I saw it coming and got out of the way. Even if you are not on the parish Council, I think your opinion is heard due to the reasons you mentioned, you are involved. Oh no to the skunk scent in the linens! emoticon My two cents worth on that one is there is a charcoal bag advertised that is supposed to eliminate all odors. She may want to look it up.

Cathy, I forgot to mention we helped your stock out emoticon the other night by dropping $200 at Wal-Mart for everything from deodorant to laundry soap. DH's principal is acting as elementary principal AND superintendent until the new contract year begins, probably in August. Nobody is saying anything about what happened except that the former superintendent did not leave for health reasons, he's fine. You're right, DH would volunteer for too much at the church and he isn't in a place to do that again yet. After retirement, yes, but not now. He hasn't mentioned anything to me so I am not sure if his name got on the ballot or not. Your students leave at 2? What time do they start?

This post has taken forever because of interruptions. DD2 needed the Pledge to clean her room, DD1 texted to see if she should come today or tomorrow. She is going to come with a bag and spend the night, hurray! D sis-in-law called to tell us a family friend is dying under the care of Hospice at her local home. She is 96 years old. DH and I had a conversation about why he didn't confirm things with our friend , owner of a chainsaw. DH is outside cutting limbs with a hand saw. I am not even dressed yet and in one hour we are going to visit our friend with kidney cancer. He had his second round of immunotherapy this week and is tired but ready for company at his home. We asked what we could bring but they declined the offer so we will bring flowers. emoticon

Have a Super Saturday!

Morning. I have been to the gym--got my step aerobics class. Hubby is out running now. Not sure what we'll do today--I'd like to be outside since it is sunny and should be warmer!

Cathy--I don't think we have gangs in the middle school here yet. I hope we never do! I can understand trying to keep kids from the gangs but sounds like the parents didn't move them soon enough. Some parents can't parent--and some are working too many jobs to have a chance to parent. It is hard...

Anne--hope you find your routine again soon--but don't do as much as you had been!!

Cathy, that's pretty scary having gang activity going on! Do you have cameras in all the halls, classrooms, etc? Glad you got the kids out. Did they walk the three times around the track, too? Hope you find lots of green! What did the young lady from Cedar Falls talk about?

Dianne, it is unusual for you to not pop on at least! Sounds like a good day, though! I'm not good with audio books...I tend to lose focus. Glad you'll see another friend while there and that you'll be there for Mom for a bit. Bleech! An injection in the eye! Gives me the willies! Actually eyeballs give me the willies! Hope it will help him!

My sister did stay yesterday and cleaned the house. She left about 6:00. It was tough to have her leave! It was weird getting up this morning knowing it was just J & me here. We have no plans now since being around to help her finish moving was on today's agenda. I'll have to see what I Is thinking.

Have a good Saturday!

Anne

Betsy, maybe the alone time with Mia was the best thing since she was so cranky. Hope you and her parents figure out what her new feeding schedule will be. They grow and change so quickly on us. People who do not work in the school system do not realize how stressful and how much work teachers do, esp. in elementary school. I know that subbing in elementary school was way too much work and I quickly stopped doing that when I moved up to high school classes---so much easier to deal with and at least you got a break and different children. Just from you telling us about your dh---if he was on the council, he would start volunteering for more stuff that might not be a good fit for him. Look how much Anne has done and been involved in that she wished she hadn't! It is very nice that he was asked and hope he prays about what the Lord would want him to do. Did he find out what happened with the superintendant? Who is running his school?
Anne, you are used to their weights so best to get them from there. Sounds like you are progressing nicely. Good idea to gradually go back to work---if you find it too much, you can just go back to what you were doing at home. I am sure you are going a bit stir crazy being at home all the time---LOL Are you still looking for another vehicle or did you buy one? If she washes that stuff, she should put white vinegar in the washer to see if that helps---sunshine and wind would help afterwards---can she hang them over your deck to air out. I think I would just replace the pillows.
Dianne, sounds like a good time to go back---and if your mom needs you for longer, at least you can stay if needed. I am sure you will feel better about being there when she has that surgery. It was really nice here yesterday. I took the kids to gym early and I got 3 laps around the track in, then took them outside for a nature walk in the afternoon. It felt good to get some exercise in and some fresh air.
Unfortunately, gang activity is on the increase in my school area, esp. with the girls. But we have had gang activity now for quite a few years----some years not much news about it but it is definitely rearing up strong again. It has been brought to the area by kids from big cities that have been sent to other relatives to hide from the cops up in the cities by their families---not that that has helped them stay out of trouble and eventually get in trouble here and then shipped back to where they came from to deal with the cops up there. Plus with so many parents not parenting, these kids have way too much freedom from any control. That issue seems to be rampant across the country.
I was tough on the kids yesterday. I had them do a lot of work on following directions----and trying to drill into them the need to do what they are told and to pay attention. Always someone not listening again! They got no time on the tablets until just after 1---and my multi child got no time at all. Since most leave at 2, there was not a lot of time for that.
I was glad to get home and just relax before we went to dinner at church and had our meetings. We had a young lady from Cedar Falls , Iowa to speak to the ladies. That was neat since I have been there on my trip the other summer.
Today is going to be lovely here today. Think dh is going to build his new bed for the strawberries. I do plan to go by the greenhouses to look at the plants---Jerry says everything is green but no color yet---that's okay, too early for those things to be flowering---just nice to see all the green.
Hope everyone has a pleasant Saturday!

ARG! I missed getting on here yesterday! You guys each wrote a book!! LOL

We have decent weather--grey this AM and was yesterday, too but it is supposed to get warm. I did a long walk yesterday AM--and then did laundry and cleaned kitchen/dining room. I also finished listening to Voyager--one of Diana Galbaron's Outlander books. Each one is over 35 hours and I only get to listen when walking or cleaning. I was so close, I didn't spend time at the computer but kept moving so I could keep listening.

Betsy--I did have to double check where New Berlin was--there is a small chance that our friend's family bought it. I doubt it but right part of the state. I did waste $4 buying 2 tickets--but it was worth it for the little bit of fantasy time! Glad you had an easy day. And now I understand why you would prefer the 3 person stroller! I have had to serve jury duty a couple of times--DD3 got a summons recently but just did the form saying she was no longer a resident and got out of it. Wow to the new superintendent at the school--this will be a mess for your district. Glad DH and DD2 got to see the apartment--what part of Madison are they living in?

Terri--safe travels! On Thursday, we have to leave by 5 to get to the airport, drop off the car/luggage and make the 7:30 AM flight.

Anne--glad you are getting around! I am sure the Fathers have missed you terribly! You are a saint to be on so many committees--I won't take a leadership position any more--now it is because I am hoping we will move--and we ARE getting closer to that decisions. I don't know if washing with bleach will help--hanging outside on a clothesline has a better chance--sun and wind!

Cathy--oh, my! And that is a MIDDLE school? I wouldn't have thought you would have inner-city behavior in your area. Glad your kids got out of there. And it makes our middle school look wonderful. (Biggest issue I remember was one girl--who really bullied my daughter--coming drunk to school during the last week--she wasn't allowed to attend graduation.) I did see daffodils in bloom yesterday on my walk--and the forsythia is showing color. I have a vase full in the house.

So plans are set--I will have to drive since the rental car is only good for one driver. Another guy who was also in the wedding lives near our ill friend so we will likely see him as well--it has been 6+ years since we saw him. And my mom is going to have hernia surgery while I will be home--so that is a good thing.

I do see Bob--and talk or play Up-Words (a Scrabble sort of game). I just miss my people in Rem. They SO appreciate the visits and I did get the time changed to Fridays at 4. I may start visiting on Mondays again. In the assisted living side, I just sat and talked with 2 gals the other day--about 30 minutes and they were so glad to talk with someone ELSE. I try to talk with someone every time I walk through. Doesn't need to be organized--just treat them with respect and interest!

Hubby has to get injections into his eye. The drops to reduce the swelling didn't help him. That will be right after he gets back here from WI. Trying not to stress....

Cathy, the kids must have been really pushing your buttons yesterday! Do they have neat desks now? The one that didn't finish all his unfinished papers, was he unable to stay focused, was he struggling with the work, or was he just pushing more buttons? Poor Diego! He must feel so miserable! The PT people there work with the one patient and generally don't share. Since I'm doing okay and am doing the exercises, I didn't mind. I was really glad to have the notice early, though!
Betsy, cuddle time with Mia! How sweet! Is Landon's speech getting better with the therapy? Our Pastoral Council (both Parish Councils together) meets generally one evening a month...usually Monday's. Our basic job was to provide guidance and feedback to the pastor. Quite a number of us were/are involved in other facets of parish life, so we are quite involved. Our meetings were usually between 1.5 - 2 hours. I planned to drop from the council after an altercation with the choir director and his wife after I provided feedback regarding what some of the older parishioners complained to me about his not using the responsorial psalm that was in the missalette and how heavy the missalette is. The altercation came after the meeting, not during it. I did stay until the end of the year, but told Fr. J I would not come back when the council came back in the Fall. Our council year basically takes July and August off. The joke was on me...the director and wife gave their notice during the summer and now we have a new choir director, lol! I do miss being part of the council, but since I work at the rectory and am involved with a couple of other things at the church I am okay with my decision.

Dianne and Terri, hope your day went well yesterday!

I got another exercise added to my repertoire yesterday. She also added 2 pound ankle weights onto 4 of the 15 exercises that I do. I should have just bought them there yesterday, but thought I could do better on Amazon and also wanted to double check with my cousin to see if he had any...but he doesn't and Amazon had a lot to choose from at about the same price. I'm going back today to get them from the PT place.

I'll be going to Mass in a bit and then staying to help Fr. B sort through some of his files. He wants to purge and since it won't require any bending it will be a good way to spend some of my day. I've decided to go work the afternoon shift at the gas station beginning Monday. I may as well for the next few weeks since I basically do the same thing at home...sitting at a table vs a desk isn't much different. If there's anything I need from a lower file drawer I'll have someone get it for me. Can't tell I'm going stir crazy, eh!

My sister and BIL are in the process of moving into their apartment...about 15 - 20 minutes from their work in Plymouth. He went there Wednesday to meet the movers and started setting up, then again yesterday for the delivery of a sofa. My sister met him after work and the two started unpacking the boxes and setting up the bedroom. I think I told you about the disaster they had with the skunk family living under the back 4 season porch of the place they stayed in while in SC. Sadly, she discovered that the boxes with pillows and linens have a touch of skunk odor. She put them out onto the back porch of the apartment and will bring them to the laundromat to clean with bleach. She doesn't care if the bleach wrecks the color...mostly white any way...she's just hoping to get rid of the skunk smell, lol! What a nightmare!

Looks like I've written a novelette, lol!

Have a great Friday! TGIF!!!

Anne

Cathy, cuddling Mia was great except for the one hour stretch when nothing seemed to make her content. She seems to be changing her eating patterns both here and at home so we hope that was the issue and not illness. Yes, I can imagine never having to work again but if I ever did win a big lottery, I would still volunteer and work with children. The parish council meetings would be at night and that is the issue, after a full day of teaching he is exhausted and sometimes doesn't make it away from the supper table before he is asleep. the park doesn't have a choice in the jury duty matter and Dh thinks he can work around it. I think it is going to be more complicated than he realizes. It's been years since I have served but I had to call in daily to see if I was needed. We'll find out more this summer. Your day at school yesterday sounds awful, thank goodness there were not deaths. I agree completely that something needs to be done to make our schools safer but in the case of physical fighting, I am not sure what that is. There's no way I would have been a fair juror in that horse trial either.

Happy Friday! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Anne, I only have 7 in the room but 2 of them are sick and the teacher is taking one for testing each time she leaves the room. Glad you are still needed at the parish---LOL---but sounds like they are surviving without you. Hope your PT person is available. Isn't there someone else that takes up the slack at the PT place? That is what happens where we go---not that we are always happy about it but for the most part, the others are good, too. Only one of them will I never let touch me again. Do you have one of those pick up sticks at home to help when you drop something? We have one back by our washer/dryer---it really helps us reach the stuff at the back of the front loader because it is so deep when there is a basket in front of it.
Betsy, wow, you ended up with a really easy afternoon. Hope you enjoyed the cuddle time with Mia. I would have enjoyed that. Bummer that it wasn't you that bought that ticket. Can you imagine not having to work again? At this point, I think I would be very glad to get out of working. Good idea for Dh to find out what time meetings are for the Parish council. If they are during the day when he is teaching, he really would not want to have to take off work too often for that. Plus he has to remember all the time he stays after for that play. Maybe it should be he gives up the play if he takes the position. What will the park think about him having jury duty? At least he won't have to do lesson plans. How does yours work? We have to call on Sunday night to see if our number is called up for the next day---it then tells you when to call next if it isn't called. I have only had to go at the most 5 times for a month's service but have been selected for a couple of short jury duties. I was supposed to do this month but was excused because I had served in 2017 and been on a jury trial. But I would have been okay if they had not excused me. But there has been a really bad trial with this woman who had all these horses and a lot of them found dead and decaying on her property. I would not have wanted to be on that jury---plus I don't think I would have been able to be nonjudgemental as there was a lot of it on the news and the pictures of those horses were not pleasant.
My day did not go well---the kids were just not paying attention and I lost it with them---I made the clean out their desks and they all had lots of papers jammed in there that were not finished so that is what they had to do. And if they didn't finish, they had to do that after lunch instead of free time---and one worked all the time after lunch and still has a bunch of papers to finish today before he has any free time today. They did do better in the afternoon and we got something accomplished! I do want to take them outside today but not unless they pay attention and get the tree papers done.
Yesterday was quite the day at my school---but at least we didn't have a child killed like that 10 year old girl that died after a fight. My kids were headed to a special with the other assistant when a fight broke out. Tanner turned everyone around and rushed back to the room---one of my kids was scared really bad---and the assistant was hurt trying to break it up---he went down on his bad knee---one kid was hurt bad enough to need medical care so there was a lot of blood. Then there was another fight later on but upstairs. It was not a good day and the principal did do a robo call to let people know that the children involved in the fight plus those that were cheering it on would all be punished. They are in the process of looking at the camera footage to figure out who else needs to be suspended. And the same stuff is happening in other schools across the country. Something has to be done as we are no longer a safe place to send your kids for an education. And the bad ones are keeping the good kids from getting the education they need.
So glad it is Friday---I could go for a free Friday but they really haven't earned it this week, esp yesterday. At least the teacher took the one kid who has annoyed me all week for testing yesterday afternoon.
OH, almost forgot. Diego's mom had to come to the school for an IEP meeting so she brought Diego---the boy is still sick and looks terrible and has absolutely no energy. He still has a lot of infection in his sinus and a nasty cough. I really don't see him coming back until the middle of next week and then we only have 4 days next week so he should stay home just to build up his strength.

Wow, my day just took a turn! Mary, Landon's speech pathologist was here for an hour working with us as Mia slept. Landon's mom reported that he was up for a couple of hours during the night and since he recently had pneumonia, she wanted to take him to the doctor. He just left and Mia's still sleeping so I have a REALLY quiet house.

Cathy, I hope you are able to get out and study trees with your students. As far as DS's jobs go, he will actually have some weekends off which is better than none. I only had to say no to one person for two days in June. I felt badly about it because this is the mother who has brought me three new clients but I know she understands. I'll be taking three weeks vacation in July so the extra work in June will help cover the lack of pay. DH will serve jury duty in July so it is going to be a very interesting month. To my knowledge, WI doesn't offer a Masters equivalency only a Masters. The babies all know some basic sign language and it is very helpful. If I could find a night class, I would love to become more fluent in ASL.

Dianne, it will be good for your husband to see your friend and for you to have him for moral support, even if it is only for a portion of the trip. I'm not sure what your stroller question is so I'll try explaining better. Landon is huge so if I put him in a four person stroller, it will be off balance and difficult to push. If I put him on a harness and the others in a three person stroller, the stroller will be more balanced and Landon will get healthy exercise in a safe fashion. As far as the Home goes, could you just focus your visits on Bob? You seem to have a real connection with him and I am sure he appreciates it immensely. When his time comes, is there another Home that may be more open to your services?

Terri, I'd love some help with a full multi age day care in June but there just isn't anybody I could afford. It's only a few weeks so I'll survive, especially knowing I get a vacation in July.
It is wonderful having DD1 closer and she adored holding Mia for the last two days. DS is welcome here but it would take a catastrophe for him to live here again. I am really glad that DH and DD2 got to spend time with him and see his apartment on Tuesday but sad that I couldn't go, sigh. Simone is great for him and they work well together so I can only hope they make it permanent someday. Yes, we will use some of the white pine for firewood but only outside as it leaves too much residue inside the chimney. The village residents (including me) don't understand why some rules are so strict and others aren't followed either. Last night my PT told me that it is actually harmful for us to be living so close to a home with mold inside so I am thinking I need to make a complaint now. I hope you had a safe trip and found everything in order in the canyon house.

Anne, I am betting DS will take the risk, not get insurance and be angry when he has to pay the fine come tax time but we'll see. Sorry, Anne, I have not been to New Berlin in a long time so the Powerball winner is definitely not mine. Hurray for no morning headache, lots of sleep and good physical therapy exercises.

I took a break while posting to feed Mia and she is now in need of cuddling so I am off to enjoy that. Have a great day!

I have taken notes on the posts but have run out of time to get them here. Michael is home with a fever today, Dela is at school and Nellie's vacationing in Florida so I only have Mia and Landon. They will nap at the same time for at least some time this afternoon so I will post then. Mia is asleep in her car seat in the kitchen but Landon should be here any minute. In the meantime I can fill you in on the craziness in DH's life. He has been nominated to be on the Parish Council and wants to accept but I have cautioned that he needs to find out exactly what the time commitment is. He took DD2 to her glaucoma appointment in Madison on Tuesday and there was an emergency meeting at school while he was away. No explanation is being given but the superintendent is no longer there and DH's principal is now acting as elementary principal as well as district superintendent. My belief is it has something to do with a fight at a basketball game where one of DH's HS players punched another player from the opposing team while he was down. The parents of that player are suing the district. Landon has arrived, I will do personalized posting later.

Good morning!
Cathy, are all the other kids sick? The kid that couldn't stay focused, does he focus better one on one? Glad you had a good work out in the pool.

Betsy, did you win the Powerball? Hope so!

Terri, hope traffic was cooperative and that the canyon place was in good condition...just needing a little sprucing up!

Dianne, I can understand your not being "wanted" on days the home has other social activities for the their clients, but not if there's nothing going on.

I did go to the rectory yesterday for a while. I steamed 3 vestments and dealt with Amazon for Fr. Bill to be able to return 3 books that came damaged. He tried to do it the other day but wasn't sure how I generally send them back, lol! I also had lunch with Rich...it was a nice time. I fixed a couple of things on the tickets that I made for the fundraiser...I'm annoyed, though, because I forgot to add cocktail attire required. I only printed 2 pages of them, so it's not a big issue...except I knew I needed to put that in and just totally forgot when I was "fixing" them, lol!

PT today. I hope it isn't cancelled again due to her son being sick...but if it is, no big deal...I am doing plenty of exercises. I really can not wait til I can bend again...I dropped 2 things yesterday that I had to ask others to pick up. So annoying!

Going to finish my first set of exercises.

Have a great Thursday!

Anne

Hmmmm, Betsy, this sounds familiar---LOL Hope today is a bit easier for you.
Anne, I imagine you are getting a bit antsy being home all the time----but you really needed this kind of break as you have been going too long without any real breather. Going to visit the kids is not really restful and you always did so much before you left and so much to do when you got home. Hopefully both places are now realizing how much you do there and are more appreciative.
Dianne, glad your dh is going for part of the trip. Sounds like you will be busy on the trip, too. Glad you are still getting to sing---and honestly, volunteers are needed but they need to work with the hours they can be there. I understand not being able to change meal times and medication time but that leaves a lot of leeway otherwise. Do they come around with a chipper machine in your area to deal with the branches? That would be smart to do that.
Terri, hope you don't have to do too much while down in the canyon and can spend some time with your Dad. Bummer that no one can go with you. Glad you had this time with your son and grandson.
Only had 5 kids today again---and she took one for testing and one kid ----our lowest ---was just unfocused---so really only had 3---so I did one plant sheet with them and then had them do the busy work the teacher had left for them. I kept the braille activity for the afternoon---I was pleasantly surprised that they did well and really seemed to like the worksheet with it---and they did really well with it which also surprised me. Today we will work on finger signing---this will be funny as some of them are not very coordinated.
Good pool work out last night. I came home and went to bed early so got up a bit earlier this morning---which is okay as I felt rested.
Almost Friday! Yippee!

Sorry team, I thought I’d have time to post tonight but we wound up having a late dinner and spending a bit of time with DD1 before she drove home. Tomorrow should be better.

I got up with Steve again this morning at 5:15 and got my day started. The fire is going, laundry machines are full and working, my bag and CPAP are packed to leave and I've done some cooking so that he'll have something easy to warm up and eat when he gets home. DS and gs are up and moving, packing, eating, stripping their beds, etc. and will be leaving close to the same time as me.

I need to send some emails to Dad and the neighbors to let them know I'm coming. I don't think I'll have service while I'm there because I have everything turned off, so will pop in whenever I leave the canyon and can get on my phone.

Morning! I have managed a 5K walk this AM--my glutes are sore from yesterday's exercise but I managed to do the walk. I think about running it but didn't! It was cool out there but nice to see the daffodils and the forsythia. Oh--hubby is going with me--at least Thursday to Sunday--so we'll see our friend and then visit my folks--I'll drive him down to the airport at Madison Sunday eve and he'll get home late but won't have to get up early. I am glad but would have gone alone. I will still end up driving to the airport alone.

Betsy--I am glad he found a job before quitting the one he had. He IS growing up! We also have rules about branches and ours won't get picked up till May. Trouble is--our landscaper put them out in the street already so we COULD get fined--I will give the fine right to them if that happens. We aren't on a main drag so I don't think it will be an issue. We are also supposed to make them a certain length but the machine doesn't care so I don't worry about it. 4 person stroller or a leash for Landon?

Terri--safe travels to the canyon. I hope all is fine and the trees are growing nicely! Will you take Rosie?

Cathy--a few of my succulents are doing well. I will bring a few home from my mom if I can get them out from under the snow! I am looking forward to the warm weather this weekend.

Anne--glad you are getting enough sleep! I slept in today--really needed it. Hubby didn't get up either.

I will be singing on Fridays--not sure if my "boss" likes it but that is when I'll be there. I do sing today--I have to make a bit of a plan. I don't like that I seem to be ONLY welcome during that time. I don't get to talk/visit with the people that I'd like to. Bob is very happy to see me whenever I get there. His teeth are not done yet to my knowledge.

Well--need to get my shower and get going!!

Hi all!
Happy Hump Day!
Cathy, I love your description of your dh's speed! It's nice that Braille and sign language get introduced to the kids. I bet you would feel like me right now if you were to sit and only watch while the teacher taught, lol!
Dianne, I always was up with the kids, too. When J worked, he usually was gone and when he was unemployed, he usually stayed in bed...which was better for everyone, lol! Hope you can figure out a plan with the home to be able to sing with the clients. Any word on your buddy's dental work?
Betsy, I bet it will be a difficult decision on who to accept and who to turn away. Glad ds has jobs lined up so he won't be unemployed looking for work. Hopefully he'll be able to get health insurance under the government plans...though they aren't that cheap either.
Terri, what a bummer that you have to go to the canyon alone. Hopefully you can put off some of the things that will need to be done for when you do have help. Wishing your DS and family have a safe journey home! Glad they were able to come out and spend time with everyone!
Yesterday I went and had my haircut by the stylist I usually have. We had a lot of fun chitty-chatting! Unfortunately her hours and mine were not working well the past few times I had to have my hair worked on...so it really was a nice time. Later in the afternoon I had a headache and went to be about 4:30, got up for dinner, and then went back to bed for the night. I slept okay and woke without the headache this morning...yay! No real plans for today, except my exercises...one set done already!
Have a great day!

Anne

Dianne, It is just barely starting to lighten up when I leave at 7--I agree too dark at 6. I like it light on both ends of my day---LOL I think I was up every morning with the kids--maybe if sick I might have missed one or 2---but since most days I was going to be subbing, I had to be up when they left. But I definitely did not get up with DH at 2 AM---otherwise I would have been a real bear with my kids---plus he drives me crazy on how slow he moves in the mornings----even back then he was like a sloth in the morning. I always said he had 2 speeds---slow and slower.
What do you have planned for those 2 days in April? I hope you do not bring a blizzard when you go visit your friend and your parents. Cold here this morning---29---brrrrr---but at least not the wicked wind today.
Betsy, I am glad Simone is making sure he has a job before quitting---and now he has 2 jobs that will probably mean he won't have weekends off again---LOL---oh, well, at least he is working---that is what adults have to do. Sounds like you are going to have to say No to someone in June---that is a good problem to have. Our school system helps pay for our teachers to get their masters because it is required by the State---you have to have it within 10 years of being hired. A lot of teachers just go for the Master's equivilancy---don't have to do that Thesis for that. But ones who would like to teach at the community college go for a full Master's in their major.
Terri, sounds like you have enjoyed the visit. Hope things are okay in the canyon and the grass is not too high. We haven't had to mow the lawn yet here, but maybe sometime next month if we keep having the nicer temps. Boy, those omelets sound lovely while reading about them this morning. Did you get to try the celery with peanut butter? I don't like it that way myself. LOL
Day went well yesterday--she thinks she might be finished at the end of next week---early---yippee! I told her for 2 days I was just going to sit in my chair and watch her teach when she is done---LOL---like I could sit there and do nothing. We started our new pots of flowers yesterday. It was neat watching the pods expand when we added water to them. They like experimenting. Think today is the day we learn some braille and then sign language after that.
Have a good day!

Back for a minute...

GS Timothy came down this morning to ask DS to take his mom's wallet to her when he goes to the coast today as Jenny went off to work without it. I mentioned that I had to go to the store for eggs and he said they had 5 dozen in their fridge and could spare a dozen. So he went back up to his house with an empty carton and I started cooking some bacon and cutting up some veggies that needed to be used. I made them omelets with mushrooms, asparagus, bacon and cheese. Lyncon ate around the asparagus and most of the mushrooms, but then ate a bowl of my home-canned peaches and pears. He is a really good eater for his age and isn't too picky. DS says that anything green seems to be off-putting, but they're working on that by giving him green things that he is sure to like--such as apples and grapes. I might see if he'll eat peanut butter with a celery stick if we have time. They're leaving in the morning, so I may not.

The day has turned sunny and warm, so I'm switching gears and going outside instead of working upstairs. That can wait for now. I'm not sure what I'll get into out there, but there's plenty to choose from.

Betsy, I don't understand why your community has such rules about cleaning up fallen limbs but will allow your neighbor to let their house fall into such a mess as you've described. Since you have to cut up some of the wood anyway, will you save it for your fireplace?

DS is taking gs back to the coast today to visit Aunt D, his bio dad, and sister again so I'll have the house to myself today. I'll catch up the laundry and straighten upstairs where I still have fabric scraps out to be cut into quilt squares. I might need to run to the local market for some eggs, too.

Ds leaves tomorrow and I plan to go to the canyon for a few days to mow and maybe weed eat a little. I thought I'd have a couple of grands along, but they are all busy this time, so I'll go alone. I have to be back here on Sunday because my niece is coming to stay the night and visit. At least I'll get an idea what things look like down there and can get a little done. Next time, I should be able to get some help.

Dianne, I'm glad you're making the trip. I think you'd regret it if you didn't. Nice to be able to check on the folks too.

Betsy, will you try to get some help in June if you have a full daycare? I hope K's car issues aren't too costly and that you have a good visit with DD1 while she's there. Isn't it nice having her that much closer? Great that S had a new income lined up this time before quitting his job. He doesn't have you for a safety net now.

I hear my guests waking up, so will go for now. Cathy and Anne--hello!

Cathy, the scheduled date to pick up the limbs and branches begins mid April pending weather. We also have stringent rules but they are being relaxed a bit due to the storm. DH will be using a chainsaw with our friend to cut up the limbs this weekend and we have to make sure the piles are only so high and so wide. Normally we would not be allowed to start so early but we are getting leniency due to the amount of damage from the blizzard. I had that fact confirmed by a woman who was walking past and stopped to ask me the inevitable question..."What is going on with that house next to you?" I did not get to Wal-Mart yet but I did add some things to the list. Today should be a bit easier since DD1 is coming in and DH and DD2 are going to Madison. How great that you got out for some fresh air and exercise with the students yesterday. I am debating between a three person stroller and a harness for Landon or a four person stroller so we can get out too.

Dianne, Mother nature hasn't been kind to us this winter so hopefully there will be no blizzards while you are in our fair state. We always had at least one parent get up with our children to see them off to school as well. They were sent out the door with a loving mantra every day that eventually had, "don't do drugs, make wise choices" added to it after a survey came home that stated we never warned them about the dangers of taking recreational drugs. Sometimes when we are leaving them now, they tell us to make wise choices and laugh. I don't care for DST dark mornings either but I love the longer light in the evenings, can't win! Your boss needs to go back to school for a class on compassion and human interaction, geez. At least you are allowed to connect with one and I am sure that means the world to him. Yes, DD1 is working on her masters and the school is paying for it, win/win! Sadly, print newspapers are a dying breed. I am glad my father sold our family paper when he did although it was sad when it happened. DS has only had one job since moving to Madison so that was a good stretch for him. He was really tired of wearing a headset and never getting a full weekend off. At least this time he didn't quit until he had something else lined up, Simone made sure of that, bless her!

I have a problem with day care numbers in June but it's a good one, too many people want to come! Mia has just arrived so there will be more on that later. Have a terrific Tuesday!

Morning. It sure is dark at 6 AM. I try to get up when hubby does when he has to go into work. I was one of the few parents who got up with my HS girls--if they need to get up, I did, too. ONCE in awhile, I sleep in but not very often. I could hear the birds singing but it was 34 outside and so dark. I hate DST in the AM.

I let my "boss" know that I can't do Wed or Thursday for singing come April because of the other job and I am getting push back. So I may not get to sing with them--said I would read or do something else. They want volunteers but they really don't. That is the message I am getting. I need to talk to someone else there but not sure how/when. Instead, I spend a lot of time with the one guy. He is feeling very bad about himself--and I am just trying to get him to see things are not so bad. I have about 20 books that I am taking to him one or two at a time.

Betsy--you sure had a busy day! I know that any blizzard will come while I am in WI. DD1 is working on her masters? Great! And DS changed jobs again? Sigh.....my folks gave up on the WI State Journal--couldn't get to the post office early enough for them to get it on the right day. They had subscribed for about 60 years and suddenly they'd get the Monday paper on Tuesday and "no one could do anything about it" so they stopped it except for Sunday cause that comes by a private carrier.

Cathy--sounds like you did catch a break to only have 2 kids for a chunk of time. I was thinking the fighting was in the HS--can't imagine a MS being that bad. So sorry. Hopefully gd will be in with some smart kids who won't do that--I know my kids pretty much moved with the same group of kids but did have to interact in the halls/cafeteria.

Terri and Anne--hope all is well.

I am heading to the gym and will stop at TX Roadhouse to get Easter eggs for the hunt at church, stop and get milk and visit Bob. Hubby invited me to a movie tonight so we may go see Captain Marvel!

Wow, lots of news from you guys.
Anne, that sounds like a nice outing. I have been wanting to go get my special ice cream for a while---maybe I will this coming weekend.
Dianne, I am glad you are going to see your friend and also going to see your parents to see how they are doing. You never know if they are not telling you of any health issues. I think you are going to have a hard time deciding where to finally retire to with your girls scattered so far apart.
Terri, wow, lots and lots of land there. Good idea for that hinged brace for him----having had 3 boys and lots of experience with breaks, it is hard to make them behave afterwards---LOL It sounds like you have a marvelous weekend and hopefully that gs was a little more interested in you once all the other people are not around. Looks like lots of work at the other place and hope it all works out for all of you.
Betsy, sounds like a busy day for you but nice that he was willing to help out with the branches and earned his treats for this time and for the next time too. Do you have a date when they will come by to pick up those branches? Our city rule for that kind of pickup is unreal so we just break ours up so that they fit into the trash can or in the case of the tree branches crashing down, the boys hauled them off to the dump for us----either way they have to be cut up. Did you finally get to Walmart for needed items?
Yesterday went fine---ended up with only 2 kids when speech person came and took 2 of the 4 I had---so they got a different paper to do the teacher had left for testing time so that worked out well and I got a break. I took the kids to gym and it was nice enough that we went outside and did 2 laps around the track---nice to get some fresh air and some exercise for me. I also went to the pool last night so it was a good exercise day.
Have a nice Tuesday!

Dianne, I'm so glad you will be able to visit your friend and see your parents, you made the right decision. We have visiting Maine in our minds for the same reason but it appears we have a bit more time. DS informed us today that he left his job and will start two new ones next week, one at a photography place and one in a warehouse at the WSJ ( Wisconsin State Journal.) So much for insurance, sigh. DD1 has heard nothing from the colon biopsy so is assuming all is well. Her medication was tripled a few months ago and it's working so that's the important part. Hopefully she can wean down again someday but not right now.

Terri, Lyncon will give you a hug someday. In the meantime, here you go emoticon . He sounds like a little charmer and I can easily imagine him being overwhelmed with your crowd. Good luck to Blaine for the remainder of the healing process. Our DS would have been tough to keep down as well. Thanks for the photo , I see lots of possibilities there.

Anne, our Grotto has an ice cream place (as well as an amazing cheese factory) as well. I'm sorry you will miss your relatives/house guests but they will be closer now so you can get together more often. Amen to the rains staying away for a bit! Snow needs to stay away as well. We are all bracing ourselves for a repeat performance of the 30 inches we got last April. I agree that children need routines and I do give them that but not newborns.

Cathy, thanks for the school explanation. I didn't get to the scalloped potatoes and ham but I did send a gallon sized baggie full of ham home with JB. His dad didn't seem very appreciative but I am sure his mother will be happy to have it. I think his dad is feeling overwhelmed with five children. He is the stay at home parent so I'm sure he is stressed. There's no sign of orange vanilla coke here but the coasts always tend to get new products first. Your description was perfect enough that I can taste it and agree it would be more of a dessert.

Yesterday JB and I went to Shopko, selected a few things and after the cashier had rung everything up, I discovered my credit card case was not in my jacket pocket like it usually is. I had to cancel the order, drive all the way back here and search for it. Where was it? In the car between the seat and the CD/cup holders! emoticon While here, I fed JB and then we went back to Shopko to pick up the items I asked them to hold for me. JB was thrilled because I spent all of a dollar on a squishy Cars toy for him. We came back here again to scan the items and spent about two hours picking up branches and dragging the limbs that we could lift to the side of the road. We put a dent in it but there's still a long way to go. One limb is on our electrical box and another one is on our neighbor's side of their fence but I'm not sure which yard it came from. We were able to pull a sagging one out of a tree and there's another that's still partially attached and will need sawing. There are still some frozen into the snow on the ground so those will have to wait. After all that work, JB was treated to a hot fudge sundae and I had my refreshing water. DD2 is dog sitting Livvie and JB adores that dog so our next stop was spent allowing Livvie to run JB! emoticon I took a few second video and sent it to her owners vacationing in Georgia, they loved it. After we watered Livvie and played inside with her for a while, it was time to come back here to get the ham and take JB home so I could get to church by 6 PM. Oh, I forgot, I was madly doing laundry all afternoon too! JB was a good sport about that. We wanted to get a Wal-Mart visit in as well but we ran out of time. I thought about going after Mass but by the time I got home and had dinner I was too tired. I also needed to be available to DH in case he needed a ride home from the spot where I left him for his ride to the Bucks game. I didn't want to have a cart full of items and get a text to pick him up. Thankfully, his ride dropped him off here so I didn't have to go out again.

DD1 will either walk in soon or tomorrow. The school where she teaches is on spring break but the school she is attending as a student is not. That one happens to be here and her class is from 4-7 but she seemed to want to go home for some reason and come tomorrow. Time will tell...

Love and prayers to all!

Hi! My big news--I am going to WI to see my friend--flying in/out of Chicago O'Hare and then will also run up and visit my parents. So that is April 4 to 11. It will be good to see him--I know where he is going but I don't want him to go this soon.....

DD2 sang with our choir yesterday--sure was nice to have her voice. I do wish I could keep one of them home but....doesn't work that way. She did take a bookshelf back for the kitchen so they have more storage for canned goods, etc--she didn't have enough space to store her stuff. I THINK she is going to share but not positive!

Betsy--glad things are going okay. Yes, would be nice for DS to have a day off. Glad DH can take DD2. Yes--what were the test results for DD1?

Terri--so glad that Blaine's arm is now mobile. Hope he takes it JUST a bit easy! LOL The brace should help. Love the photo--it will be a beautiful place. Farther from town??

Anne--you will be lonesome but you will appreciate having your house back and they ARE closer now. Glad you got out and about--just keep taking it easy!

Cathy--when can I plant potatoes? I have some with so many eyes that I may as well plant them! LOL I never do well with peas. Hope you do! I saw a video about planting seeds in ice cream cones since they will biodegrade! Cool idea!

I don't know why judges didn't show--I do believe this happens a lot--I know I have been moved in the past. I am just glad I was able to help and yes, next year I will do a bit more to make sure they have me on the list. I learned about a young man who was the youngest political prisoner executed by the Nazis--he was 17. I always learn something when I go to judge. I now have 4 coffee mugs--one from each year with the topic emblazoned on it. This year was triumph and tragedy--lots of good possibilities.

Still cool and grey here. I did go visit my buddy at the home--and have to get dates set for next month--I can't do Wednesdays so need to switch it up. anyway--hope everyone is well!

I've been trying to keep up with reading your posts in snatches this weekend, but haven't had time to sit down and post.

On Saturday, we had all the local family here for Corned Beef and cabbage, carrots and potatoes. Youngest grandson, Lyncon, will be 2 in June and he is a tank of a kid and full of energy. He's not articulate yet, but he sure "talks" a lot and uses his hands expressively. The other grands kept him busy and enjoyed him. The aunties too. He was a little overwhelmed with all the attention, but gave some hugs to the ones he chose to honor. I didn't get one, but Steve did--naturally! LOL

Yesterday, they went to the coast to visit his bio dad for the day and Mom hung out here with us. We got a couple of card games in and ate up some leftovers for dinner. Mom will leave to go back to Redding this morning and isn't excited about driving in the rain (yesterday was sunny) but is glad we had an extra day together. DS and gs will hang out here with me today. Not sure what we'll get up to. I hope he's not bored. He may want to do some laundry while he can. DS2 and family will join us for lasagna tonight.

Blaine got the pins out of his arm last Wednesday in Oakland and is doing pretty well. He's wearing a hinged brace on his arm because the doctor told DIL that "he'll be pretty fragile for the next 6 weeks" but he didn't want to put another cast on it because he wants Blaine to start bending his arm to regain mobility. DIL insisted on the brace because Blaine doesn't know how to be careful and she's certain that he'd re-break it if it wasn't protected. I agree! He's just like his dad was! So now he can bend his elbow...well, he's supposed to TRY to bend his elbow and work at it until he can touch his shoulder. His arm was casted straight and is now pretty locked up. He's going to have to work at bending it and it really IS work at this point; however, it's his dominant hand, so he's naturally wanting to use it. He's doing pretty well and I have no doubts that he'll make a full and quick recovery. It's just a matter of letting his bones heal completely before he gets turned loose on the world again.

Dianne, I'm glad you went to History Day and were able to judge. It's too bad other judges flaked out. Sounds like a nice shopping trip with DD2 too! Nice haul! So sorry to hear about your friend but glad you've been able to talk to him, share your love and the hope your faith brings. Cancer sucks, but death is inevitable. Cancer is merely the vehicle that will carry him from this life to the next and THAT'S the one that will never end! It's the suffering for him and the loss for those left behind that causes our anguish. I still miss my Sis-in-law but have every reason to hope that I'll see her again one day.

Anne, keep up the good work on your PT and exercises. I'm glad you're being careful about going outside while there's snow on the ground. Don't take any chances! I'm sure you'll miss the company even while you enjoy having your house to yourself. That's how it goes here too. Will they live close enough to you that you'll be able to get together often?

Cathy and Betsy, good morning! I hear Mom getting up, so must get off the computer. Have a great Monday.

***I forgot to post the picture I took last weekend when we went out to the ranch to look around. This is gs Rylan at the top of the meadow (where we will cut the grass to make hay) In the distance there is an old barn on the left, then a collapsed haybarn slightly to right of that (where the road is coming down). That's one of the first projects to be done, but not the first because we have all summer to rebuild the hay storage. On the left side of the dirt road is our cabin and the barn/house (where the kids will live) is on the right, at the top of the grassy area. There are a couple of neighbors just below the tree line, but that's not part of the ranch. There's a lot of forest not shown here. This is just the view from the far end of the hay field.

I am running out of time but wanted to pop in to say hi. DH has to plan for a sub tonight so I can come back on after work. He is taking DD2 to see her glaucoma doctor in Madison tomorrow. It never seems to be on a day that DS has off from work, sigh. DH had a great time at the Bucks game yesterday and they held their lead for the entire game. JB and I got a lot done in the yard so my legs are a bit sore today. Oh well, it will pass! time to finish getting ready for the return of Mia. emoticon

Hi all!
Cathy, sorry the cold front is coming through, but it is still March, lol! Glad it's going to warm up for the weekend! I haven't checked our weather forecast for the week yet...probably similar though. Anne Sullivan is one very patient and talented person! Helen was very lucky that Anne came into her life! I hope the students appreciate the lessons that are there in the Helen Keller story!

We went to LaSalette Shrine and walked around, then got an ice cream afterwards. It was a nice time. I managed to get all the exercises in, too! No plans for today...kinda gray outside. I may run to the grocery store and get a couple of things for dinner.

Have a great Monday!

Anne

I did do high school until the last 2 years---and the only way I can stand to be in middle school is in a self contained room like I am in now. Reagann is supposed to come to this middle school in 2 years---so I might stay as long as she is here to make sure she is okay---but I know they really don't want her to come here but private is expensive and they don't want to bite the bullet for that. Plus they don't go to church so would have a bit of an issue with Christian schools.
Dianne, good thing you showed up. Sounds like the coordinator for this year was not very good. Sounds like you enjoyed it. Glad you had a successful shopping trip and saved money. Always nice to do. I haven't been in my Kohl's for a couple of years and I guess I should wander in to see if they have improved here but doubt it.. What did you get at the Mexican restaurant? How did the kids react to being the teachers next week?
Betsy, hope you found room in the freezer for some of the ham. Did you make a casserole to send home with the little? Hope Dh enjoyed the game.
Anne, hope they don't try to leave Odin with you. LOL I know you are glad to get your house back but will miss the company---but soon you will be back to work and super busy again. Don't go over and do too much to help your sister unpack. See, I know you too well---LOL Did you get outside? I went outside and finally put the peas in the ground---a week late but they should be okay---boy, was there a lot of seeds in the package.
Today should be nice, but a cold front comes thru for the middle of the week but the weekend looks to be very nice---I like that!
I did get bills paid and a load of laundry done yesterday. Went out to get hamburger buns for dinner----dh cooked on the grill ---and went on a search to find just one bottle of that new Orange Vanilla Coke---I just wanted to try it before I bought a whole case of it. And success at the Royal Farms convenience store. It does taste like an Orange Creamsicle with a bit of a twist---not bad but not a drink to have with a meal---more like it would be a dessert treat. I would get it again as something different but not a regular thing.
Back to another busy week---teaching about Helen Keller this week plus finishing up plants.

Dianne, I think someone didn't have their "ducks in a row" when following up on recruiting judges. Kudos to the kids that did their projects on their own! Glad you didn't have to have pizza...unless you really wanted it...though, I'm guessing that Mexican was what everyone wanted! Hope the older kids are looking forward to "teaching" the younger ones next week! Will there be an adult in the room to make sure things run smoothly? Good job at Kohl's! I only received a 15% discount on my postcard, so I'm not planning on going there this weekend. I may have considered going if it was 20 or 30%, lol!

Betsy, those parents sound like they are on the ball...kids do need routines, otherwise they don't handle the transition to school well...at the least the ones that I have encountered as "the other parent" who did have some routine and discipline at home, while they didn't. Glad things are "melting" in a much better way now...may the rains stay away for a bit! Has DD1 received the results of her test?

It is absolutely gorgeous out. Not sure what we will do today, but I'd really like to get outside for a bit! My sister, bil, & Odin will be moving out this week...they can move into their apartment on 3/27, so they have the moving/storage company delivering some of the stuff they have in storage there on Wednesday. They have a couch being delivered on Thursday. She plans on cleaning the upstairs, stripping the bed, and getting the last of their stuff out on Saturday. We should be just J & me again on Sunday. Kinda makes me sad.

Time to get my second set of exercises in. Have a great Sunday!

Dianne, it sounds like you had a very productive day judging. Kohl's does have great sales but I wish so many of them didn't require using their credit card. I know you can pay it off right away and avoid the high interest but we don't always do that. DH and his two of his colleagues are going to a Milwaukee Bucks game today. DH hasn't been to one since he was in high school so he's very excited. I will get our Little Brother this afternoon and do something with him but not sure what yet. I think we will pick up more of the little branches and add them to the pile for the work portion of our day. I thought Cathy had high school kids too! DH checked for the Northern Lights a few times last night but didn't see anything. Scalloped potatoes and ham sound wonderful and if JB is willing, we may make a batch for his family. We are really limited on freezer space since we bought the quarter steer but we may be able to squeeze a few gallon size baggies in there if we rearrange things. We can also send some home with DD1 if she likes. DD1 didn't feel like they had a decent fish fry in northwestern WI so I can imagine the east coast wouldn't have any either. that said, you have much better access to good seafood so I guess it's a tradeoff. How old are the children you want to teach nursery children? I love that idea and think they will too.

Cathy, poor Diego! Middle school is such a tough age and a colostomy bag would just make things worse. Even if you don't like the book, I am sure someone would. Isn't there a place where you could donate? Thanks for reminding me to watch The Crown. I am still on season one. It's great that you got a stylist who knew just what you needed. I do the same thing when I go in once every two years or so and take my chances at who gets to cut off the hair donation.

Have a super Sunday!

Morning! Yes, I went to history Day and they were VERY glad to see me--even if I wasn't on their list! There were 2 of us who never got a response back but came anyway. I ended up being on a 2 person team to judge Individual Junior Exhibits so I was on my feet the whole time and we had 3 no-shows so only 5 to judge. One was good but FAR exceeded the word limit. Two were pretty bad--but the kids did them on their own so points for that. Two were put in to move on to the next competition but we had constructive criticism for those as well. All told, it was good. DD2 and hubby updated her computer--and then had to put it back the way it was cause the motherboard was bad--didn't work at all.Too late to return it to the store so she has to go to the manufacturer.

We went to Kohls--she needed pants. Found her 4 pairs, got 4 bras, 6 tops, a pair of snowpants for me (I will return the ones I had bought before--they were $21 and these were $8) and a couple of other little things. Got all that for $85--and got $10 in Kohls cash. I like 30% off and $10 off $50 women's clothes. Then we went out for Mexican--she can get decent pizza a block from her house so we don't HAVE to get pizza.

Anne--I think we all have branches down! Ours has been cleaned up.

Cathy--I like the hair! Why did I think you had HS kids? Oh, well. Hope Diego does stay home till he is at least back to normal. Our weather yesterday was cold/windy but could have been worse.

Betsy--glad you are getting back to a "full house". Glad the newest will be so close. I wish we had special fish fry out here--but places don't do that like Wisconsin. My hubby doesn't like the fish but I sure do. Freeze some of the ham--or do scalloped potatoes with ham. I didn't like that as a kid but sure do now.

Terri--enjoy the visit!!

I am off to teach the older Sunday school class--the idea is for THEM to teach the nursery kids next week so we need to plan a lesson. Hope they like the idea.....

Dianne, did they need you or did you come home to dd2? Bummer if you got there and wasther that time. Did you go for pizza since she was there? Or now that she is closer, she doesn't need that fix when she comes by. Hope you had a good time with her. Sorry you don't feel that you can go see your friend--sweet that your dh offered for you to go.
Anne, thanks for posting. The girl that cut my hair really seemed to know what I wanted and did a great job---not always true---I don't go to just one person, just go to the Hair Cuttery for the next available and go early so not a long wait. I didn't even get a chance to sit down this time so that was nice. With your sis and Bil there, do you play cards or do something together on the weekend? We have lots of DVDs to watch---I have found that Netflix rarely has much on it anymore either. The only thing I am waiting for on there is the next season of the Crown. Hope you don't have too many branches down in the front.
Betsy, the kids are middle school---6th to 8th grade---and horrible for the most part---well, the bad ones are so horrible that you forget about the good ones. Lots more fights again this week. Nothing seems to work with these kids---no parental authority, no morals, only me, me, me! We are reading "The Crossover"---no, I do not recommend it---written in poetry form about basketball middle school kid and his family. Sometimes I have to ask Price to explain part of it to the kids. The whole county is reading the book---they got some grant money to do this to pay for all the books--a waste of money in my opinion because I imagine all the books will end up in the trash---I know mine will. Think Diego had the flu---not good for a kid with a colostomy and needing fluids by pump. Missed him but not the additional work and really don't want him back until he is feeling totally well as a normal day can sometimes be tiring for him. Nice that dd1 treated you to dinner. Can't you freeze some of the ham for later? Yes, I saw Mary Poppins Returns in the theater, but bought the DVD---dh enjoyed it so we will watch it again---we also watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang after that was done. Dh was thrilled to see the appearance of Dick Van Dyke at the end of MPR. Glad that the new client is so close and on a school schedule so you have off during the summer from that one. The timing sounds perfect with that one.
I made chili for dinner last night so we have leftovers from that and leftovers from Friday night---so not sure if I will cook today and save the leftovers for the week.
I did get to Boscov's after my hair cut----got dh some jeans and a pair of shoes for me---had a coupon for 15% off plus a refund for $5 off.
Should be a pleasant day here---wind is supposed to have calmed down and be warmer here so that will be nice. Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Anne, DD2 hit a chunk of ice and broke something plastic that isn't a problem but she'll need a new tie rod soon, around $300 so it could have been worse. We borrowed money from her to buy our car outright so we are going to pay that expense for her. the basement has dried out well and the snow has been slowly melting so things are back to normal now. We are all grateful that everyone's protective of your healing process. Have fun practicing piano. I don't read music but I love to play with the children when I can to instill a love of music. Cars never last as long as we want them to and they always give out at the worst time, how do they know? We have been debating how long we will keep our twenty year old van that sits in our driveway. The snowload fell on the wiper and broke the housing so who knows how much that will cost to replace? Boo to more snow but hurray to only one inch of the white stuff we have all had enough of this year! We have a huge piles of downed limbs in front of our house and there are still more to clear. Our friend is coming over next Saturday to help with a chainsaw. Thanks for posting the picture for Cathy, she looks great.

Cathy, my clients are allowed to come as early as 7 but they have been coming between 7:20 and 8:00 for so long that an earlier arrival is a surprise. I have had trouble with my shoulder for many years and I'm sure Landon played a part in this flare but we can't blame it all on him. The therapist didn't say exactly what the problem was but the chest, neck and shoulder are all very tight. What book did the whole school read? Does the school always do that? Remind me what grade levels are in your school, please? I'm reading A man Called Ove right now and I didn't like it at first but now it's very interesting. I am curious to see the movie now as well, I heard it was supposed to be quite good. hopefully Diego will stay away until he's fully recovered and the rest of your class will stay healthy. How funny that your cats listen to your teacher voice and not your DH, just like children only listening to one parent! I thought you already saw Mary Poppins Returns. I can't speak for Howard but I think you will like it a lot. Cable is ridiculously expensive and they need to do something because most of us who still have it are ready to cut the cord like Terri.

Terri, hello! I hope you are enjoying your family visitors from Chicago.

Dianne, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend but I am glad you got to talk to him. Why didn't you take your DH up on his offer to visit Wisconsin? Would it just be too hard for you to see your friend failing? We were going to make veggie pizza yesterday but opted to try the fish fry at a local bar. in addition to original, they have Cajun, garlic dill and lemon pepper. I had the garlic dill and it was very good. it came with coleslaw and potato choice for $8.99 so that was a pretty god deal. It was even better because DD1 decided to come home for her first night of spring break and she took care of the bill! She has gone home now but we checked out the sales at the closing Shopko and played a rousing game of Scrabble before she left. By the way, that was an amazing score you got on your online game word, congratulations!
Hurray for TSA pre-checks and getting to leave your shoes on in the airport. Boo to the Home for advising against human touch, don't they know that is healing?!? The weather is beautiful today and all signs point to us being able to see the Northern Lights, hope so! Did they need you at History Day? Have fun with DD2!

The people who came to check out my day care live on the street behind us and they are very excited to start their baby boy in my care mid August. Why are these new parents looking younger and younger all the time? They often walk their beagle on our street and they questioned what was up with the house next door. I had to smile at them when they asked me if I try to keep newborns on any type of schedule because they would try and start at home. They seen like they will be great parents to work with so that will be three points for Trav's mom! She brought me Michael, Mia and soon this little guy. The newborn's mom is on a school schedule so that's great too.

DH is making a ham for dinner and it smells delicious. We have salad from the winter farmers market and I have to go to the store and buy some potato rolls in a few minutes. The funny thing is it is a ten pound ham and there are only two of us here! We'll be eating ham for a week. DD2 is at an Irish festival in a town that is normally called New London but for one week out of the year they become Irish and change their name to New Dublin. The party started last Sunday and ends with the festival today. Dianne, we were there years ago when the children were small and the UW marching band serenaded DS, it was priceless. There's no news from DS other than their cat celebrated a birthday on March 17.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Betsy

Cathy, I think cats would be much easier to "boot" out of the way, lol! Odin is pretty good, though...most of the time, lol! I'm sure it was a lot easier to teach without being torn about trying to help Diego too. Does he have the flu or is something else going on? I agree...there's very little worth watching on TV. I have gone to Netflix and Amazon Prime during the day when I'm bored...but a lot of times the movies I'd like to watch are either not available (Netflix) or cost and I'm not paying more for stupid TV!

Dianne, I agree with your DH, but probably would do like you and go to see if I'm needed, lol! I hope it isn't too far that you have to go! My gf told me her crocus is in full bloom. Enjoy DD2 time!

We got snow last night...about an inch. It has been very windy, too. I don't see any extra dropped branches in the backyard, but haven't checked the front yet...have to go out to see the area that would be involved in that. The snow is melting rather quickly so I will be able to check it out later today. No plans for the weekend...at least not yet.

Have a great Saturday!

Morning! Hubby offered that I could go visit my friend--he is in Wisconsin. I don't think I will--but I do want to talk to him again on the phone. I won't make the funeral either but it will be packed--he has touched so many folks. I had wanted the WI basketball team to keep winning--that would be motivation for him to keep fighting--but they lost in the first round of March Madness.....not what I wanted them to do. Oh, well--fought a good fight--just like my friend is doing.

I am up early cause off to judge for the NJ History Day--at least, I think so! They never sent out any "yes, we have you on the list--be at this place" so I hope I am supposed to go. Hubby said just stay home but I said I'd be there -- if they don't need me, I'll come right home cause DD2 did arrive last night!

I also have to help with Sunday school tomorrow--sigh. Oh, well!!

My daffodils are up but not blooming yet. The crocus are pretty and someone else has the snowdrops--they are also so pretty!

Enjoy the day!

Anne, what a pain! Won't he have to get used to being outside when they move? With the weather getting nicer, he should be outside for a bit longer. Things like this just show me that I do not want a dog underfoot---the cats are bad enough at times but they will move when I tell them too---not so much when Dh does, though---LOL Guess my teacher voice works on them, too. Glad everyone is watching out for you and not letting you do too much. Wouldn't a simple F150 suit your dh---one with a single cab? They can be priced more reasonable than a lot of other trucks. I know what you mean about not wanting that payment at the moment. Since everyone was looking forward to the weekend, do you have plans or is everyone just ready to chill? I have no plans myself but do want to do something---maybe get my hair cut this morning and check into what Boscov's has on sale---LOL
Dianne, how nice that she can come home this weekend---glad she isn't sick now. Where will she put the stuff from downstairs if the garage if full now? LOL Can't imagine the mess she has! Yes, the week went well---I think mostly because I didn't have to teach everyone and help Diego do the work, too. I sure do hope Price will help more next week if he is back. The teacher wants me to do a whole week on Helen Keller so I got the work all organized for that yesterday. I also found some more things to do on plants --our seedlings are about ready to transplant---hoping to do that on Monday and then start the other pots---they have formed their 2nd leaves so they are doing well. I should check out my neighbor's forsythia bush to see if it is budding---they would not know if I cut some off----they don't take care of their stuff anyhow. I would like to have some inside, too. Across the street, they have crocus and daffodils in front--they look lovely. My daffodils are nice and bright and along side the other next door neighbor, her daffodils have bloomed and make me smile when I look out the living room window.. I am so glad you got to chat with your friend. Do you think you could go visit him or does he live too far away? It would be nice to see him while he is alive over going for his funeral.
Dh bought me the Mary Poppins Returns dvd so that is on my list of things to do this weekend. Hopefully Dh will enjoy it to so we can watch it in with all the other dvds as lately there is nothing on TV to watch---almost ready to cut back on the cable bill the way things are going.
Have a lovely Saturday---will be sunny but very windy here.

Hi, all! I got to talk to my friend last night--he called us. So we cried and then just talked--about old times, about stuff going on, about what he wants for funeral (although we have nothing to do with it). I will call him again and hope to chat again--his daughter is going back to Disneyland to work a week or two and then she will be back--so maybe not going to happen in the next 2 weeks. I have sent the letter and will need to send to his wife and daughter....

I also went and applied for my TSA Pre-check--so I won't have to take my shoes off at the airport any more. The credit card will pay for it! I will be doing at least 2 more plane trips this year so it will be nice to have.

Anne--sounds like you are doing okay. Odin needs to chill or your BIL should take him outside so you can exercise! Glad you are watching it--don't get too bored. You might see the northern lights tonight if you can see the northern horizon without too much light.

Cathy--sounds like your week went okay, even if you did have to teach. My crocus are blooming! And I brought in some forsythia to force--they are opening right up. The yellow flowers make me smile.

Betsy--I hope you have some decent weather for the weekend! Although people are likely watching the basketball games. Go, Badgers!

Terri--I am going to be going through paperwork and boxing up some things I want but likely won't be needed. DD3 needs to tell me that she doesn't want anything that is left at home and then I'll get at that room! Our friends do have the upstairs painted and EMPTY--hard to believe it is the same place. The garage is packed full of stuff and rest of the house is awful but they are making headway. She wants to list it next week--ambitious but maybe possible...

DD2 should be home tonight by 6:30-7:00. Hooray! I am going to History Day tomorrow AM--they haven't really gotten back to me but....I will go and see. then I have to help with Sunday School at 9:15 on Sunday--but that will give DD2 a chance to visit with her dad....

Good morning!
Cathy, you are right...T.G.I.F.! Everyone in my house right was wishing yesterday was Friday and are very grateful that today is, lol! Hope things run smoothly so that you can get that reading in this morning. Does "free afternoon" mean you get to leave early? That's too bad that Diego is so sick!

Dianne, they certainly are weird at that nursing home. I don't understand why they don't appreciate the fact that someone wants to come in and volunteer time to try and brighten the clients days! Sure hope they don't have bugs!

Betsy, I hope PT helps your shoulder. Do you need the rotator cuff worked on or is there another issue going on? What's going on with K's car? Was the mechanic able to fix it? How's the basement drying out?

Terri, are you back to full activity since your gall bladder surgery? Enjoy DS3 and gs while they visit! Hope your corned beef dinner is as good as mine was last weekend...or better (though I think mine was the best we ever had, lol)!

Fortunately, everyone is very protective of my healing process...both at home and at the church (rectory and fellow parishioners)...so they won't allow me to get in over my head right now, lol! Odin does not like being out...probably habit because he would be left for a number of hours while my sister and BIL and their son were all out of the house from about 8 am to 3 pm. He will go out to chase the squirrels or birds that he sees when looking out the window, to investigate any other barking dogs he hears, or for doing his "business" and then wants right back in. I am shutting my door to do the exercises. However, I actually decided to do the standing exercises in my bathroom yesterday while he was "sleeping" in the hallway. He must have heard me counting or maybe tapping my foot lightly and came to the door and cried, then jumped on it as I continued. I was able to finish them with only the one jump on the door. He's like a toddler, lol!

I sat at my piano yesterday for the first time in ages. I can't believe how I've forgotten the tenor staff notes! Makes me sad! Guess what I'm going to be working on when I'm alone in the house, lol! I really want to play the songs I used to enjoy playing.

J came home from work yesterday and said he thought we should get another car...SUV and then get a truck later. I'm not too keen on that idea, but we'll talk more about it tomorrow morning. It would be less costly, I think. Dang it all...why couldn't the Explorer have lasted another 5 or 6 months!

It's rainy out and I believe it will be rainy most of the day. That stinks because it's going to make for a long day! Guess I'll be doing some TV watching, reading, and praying.

Hope you have a great Friday!

Anne

Anne, oh, no, don't you start getting involved in too much again! LOL Or you will need the other hip done! Glad you got out and felt like staying the whole time. Can't you put Odin out in the back yard when you do your exercises? He is definitely too big to be a stay inside all day dog. Glad to hear that you are being good about doing your exercises at home. How much longer does your doctor want you to stay off work? Hope you can ease back into things and don't rush it---and make the Fathers bring things down and take their own laundry back up and put it away---they are not children! LOL
Betsy, doesn's sound like a good start to the day with a crying child---yuck! They don't realize how lucky they are that you take them early---a lot of places will not let the children in until the specified time---no matter what!---so they truly are blessed. Is taking care of Landon or the babies causing you to need PT on your shoulder again? I know that can be painful as my dh had to have surgery on his rotator cuff and he was in a lot of pain before it was done.
Dianne, wonder if there are bugs again that they are not telling you about? People need contact of the nice kind--esp. in places like that. So sad! Hope your buddy continues to enjoy his books. I don't know how well traveled your street is but sometimes putting them at the curb with a free sign gets people to take them. That's a great way to get hostas when people divide them. I should probably divide a few of mine but I will see how I feel and how the weather is this spring.
Day went well yesterday---Diego out all week---teacher went by his house to take some paperwork to his mom and said he looked horrible. Hope she doesn't send him back too soon because the flu is going around the area. All the people that got the shot are getting it! Today is Friday and they have earned their free afternoon---and so have I! LOL I still need to read them the pages in the book--which is usually an afternoon thing but might do that in the morning---we will see how it goes as I might change it to the morning.
Are you ready for the weekend?

Morning. Raining here. We both woke really early--I think the news was unsettling to both of us. This friend is a "teddy bear" type of person and we love him dearly. We are opposite politically--he is a good friend of Walker, Betsy--but we still love each other--just had stopped following on FB.

Terri--the ranch/log house/canyon will be something for us to get used to! I hope your DS can figure out what to move with little upset. Given that he is Steve's son, he likely does have it figured out! Things will be different and I can see the garden being difficult this year.

Anne--sometimes people just don't listen! Life would be easier if they did! Don't get too sucked into the fundraiser--but you would do a great job on the tickets. Sorry about the truck--I just had my van inspected. NJ used to do a safety inspection--now it is just emissions. I hope my van keeps on running--I love it and don't want to go to anything else.

Betsy--glad K got Dela to calm down a bit. Hope the PT helps and your crazy day isn't too bad. I need to go grocery shopping and I think I am going to make soup for tonight--and the weekend. We were going to do pizza but it is raining. We did stop at DQ for a free cone yesterday but the place was PACKED so we passed.

Cathy--glad your lesson went okay. I am not doing a garden but will put in some flowers. I need to revisit my house plants again--I have too many and will likely give some away this spring. I start new ones when I break something off--and I don't NEED any new ones! LOL

I did get about 30 books for my buddy--have taken him a few so far. Not sure when he is getting the dentures--he also needs a hair cut! I did sing at the home yesterday--and was told "not to touch the people--they have diseases". I am so tempted to go visit on Mondays--my "boss" isn't there on Mondays. I miss them and they miss me!

Well, need to get my letter into an envelope and then go to the grocery store. I was late getting my neice's card into the mail--hope it goes REALLY fast cause her birthday is tomorrow!

1. Dela came early and she is wailing in the kitchen because her daddy left, unusual for her but she's also early.

2. Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday, I was too tired to move after supper.

3. I started PT on my left shoulder yesterday and DH stayed with the day care kiddos so I could do that. I had to be nice to him in the morning since he did that for me.

4. I have expectant new clients coming at the end of the day care day so it is going to be another crazy day/night but I will do my best to get back here and catch up.

5. I have skimmed and agree that cancer is horrible and selling is better than renting.

6. DD2 is on her way out the door but she gave something to Dela to calm her down, thank goodness! I tried but nothing worked so I just left her to cry it out.

Have a blessed day!

Cathy, sounds like a nice way to spend yesterday morning with the kids. Do the kids know how to repot? Glad DH got the downed tree cut up. Is it too big for the chiminea? Can you stack it bit by bit on the curb and maybe people will help themselves or is that not allowed?

Dianne, that is really sad about your friend. My SIL's BIL (J's brothers wife's sister's husband) had pancreatic cancer. He managed to have about 5 years after being diagnosed. I don't know what kind of treatments he had. He passed either 3 or 4 years ago. I wonder if the treatment has changed. I will keep him, his family and you and your DH in my thoughts and prayers!

Last night I went to a meeting for the major fundraiser for the parish...a wine tasting and auction event. I only intended to stay for a short time because I was tired, but ended up staying for the whole meeting! The cost of the food was the topic of the night...it was way out of the ballpark. It is too bad that the caterer that the venue suggested didn't really "hear" what was expected for food...he switched heavy hors d'oeuvres to plated dinners. It will be interesting what is proposed today, lol! I made up ticket ideas, which is why I went. It seems like everyone liked them, but I won't print them until we are sure of the price. It was nice to be out and acting "almost normal" again!

Going to finish my exercises...did the lying down ones before getting up; now to do the standing ones. I have to do them in my bedroom because they upset Odin...wonder if he's afraid I'll fall or if he thinks I'm playing with him, lol!

Have a good Thursday...stay dry if it's raining where you are!

Anne

Betsy, tell him you need your time with us and to back off next time---LOL---dealing with the kids all day means you need a bit of adult conversation.
Anne, bummer about the vehicle---but it has lasted a long time---we did get a new transmission in my Dh's truck last year---but it wasn't as bad as a new truck would have been---so we bit the bullet--but his truck doesn't have that many miles on it either. His truck is a 2002 so it does have the years. As much as you miss your dog, not having dog hair to worry about is a good thing. Glad you got out with your gf for lunch out and a bit of browsing. Sounds like fun. It is too early here, too---except for peas and other cold crops. You didn't get as much snow as usual this winter, right?
Terri, I don't see how he can move those slabs without making a mess of that yard which might make the owner a bit mad----esp. if it a good size---more work than it's worth because I can imagine it will crack unless it has rebarb in it and even then it probably will. Will he move the animals first or do the needed house stuff first so that they can be there with the animals?
We started getting rain last night---and I knew it was coming as the knees hurt yesterday. We really don't need any more here---could use a couple of weeks without any . Dh finally got that downed tree cut all up---now to find someone to take the wood. I still haven't tried out my chiminea---either too windy or too wet or too cold ever since I got it.
Dianne, how sad. Cancer is such a horrid disease. Glad you were able to get hold of him in some manner. Glad your friend at the home is getting new dentures.
Yes, teacher was back yesterday---but tested all day---so I still taught. But it was an easy day---had them do a plant/vegetable collage for Spring---which they did a very good job on. That took all morning after our morning routine. Then after lunch they did math---which took them an hour. I then read the book the whole school is reading---got thru our alloted pages, then we did 2 hand outs and we were finished for today. The last handout was on singular and plural to see if they knew that---well, obviously, they don't---with a few exceptions---so that will be a lesson today and then have them redo the paper. I think we will replant the seedlings into bigger pots just to have something different today.
Went to the pool last night---felt good to be in the water.
First full day of Spring---and wet here----but starting out warmer!

Guess I forgot to get on here this AM. I am upset--just found out that one of the guys in our wedding party (yes--have known him for 42 years) has pancreatic cancer and the cancer is winning. He has been trying to get ahold of us but had lost phone numbers. I saw this on FB--so have cried, called and left a message on his answering machine, written him a letter to tell him old memories, love and anger at this disease and I am still crying.

I did read all the chat--my walk was cool yesterday--I had lots of energy going out but was dragging when I was walking home. Did a 30 minutes step video this AM. Went to the home and sang--and also visited my buddy (who is getting new dentures--soon).

Sorry--I am just a mess. This guy was a best friend in college when my DH was in graduate school. He was in our wedding party and we went to his wedding--I did a reading and DD1 attended--she was 2 months old. He and his wife only have one daughter--she worked at Disneyworld the year we went to FL--she took us into Epcot for the food expo one night. Now she is in Disneyland. Not sure how his wife and daughter are going to be--but I know they have a strong faith. It just hurts.

Terri, raw, rainy days or cool evenings will have Clara and Jenny wearing those flannel shirts. Were you able to finish them up today and make more cookies?!? Sounds like plans are pretty well underway for the BIG move! That is a lot of stuff to have to haul from one farm to another! Glad I'm not doing it! I agree with not wanting to sell, not rent! After what Rich's son went through with the non-paying tenant for almost a year and the teeny amount the courts said she would have to pay!

My gf met me at the gas station and we went for tea at a nearby Nursery's cafe. Of course we also checked out what they had in stock already! Quite a bit considering it's not time to plant a lot of what we saw...still can have frost and snow...bye, bye plants! Too expensive for that!
When I got home I got a call from the garage...the transmission is going. It's one of those sealed transmissions so they can't open it to see if it just needs a transmission service! Go figure! I had hoped to get to at least summer before considering a replacement. The Explorer has been good to us, though...15 years old with over 200k miles! J will need to start looking for a new to him (or new) vehicle. What a nightmare!

Time to exercise!

DS2 and wife have taken Blaine back to Oakland to have the pins taken out of his arm and the cast changed. It's going to be a hideously long day, as they're going down and back today. Son has work tomorrow and has to be back. I kept the other 3 last night and will have them until tomorrow. They brought their school work, so that will be their rainy day activity today. I hope to work upstairs again as I'm nearly done with the two flannel shirts (finally) and hope to get them on hangers today. One is for Clara, so she can wear hers. I'm glad its raining because I was lamenting that I didn't get them done before it got too warm to wear them. The other one is for Jenny, so she won't outgrow hers, but Clara would have.

I have a little more pumpkin and some bananas in the freezer for cookies that I plan to bake today. I made double batches of each last week and they're about gone. We bagged the extras and froze them, but I sent some home with 2 grandsons and another bag with DS2 last week. The last bag came out of the freezer yesterday and I sent some home with them for their trip to Oakland when they dropped off the other kids, so it's time to restock the supply.

About the kids' houses: Jenny's house is on the market and will be sold as soon as possible. If it doesn't sell soon, they may rent it out but would rather not. Son is renting, so just needs to give notice and move. That will be a huge job because they have 5 horses, two steers, a round pen, two covered stalls in another pen, cement slabs for the pig pens that he says he will move, the panels for the pig pens, a chicken house/barn and their cement slab--and that's just for their animals. They don't have their 4H pigs yet, but will need to get them soon so they'll be the right size for the fair in August. I was shocked to hear that he planned to move those slabs, but he said he's not going to spend the money to make more if he can help it. We'll see. This one is so much like Steve that I'm sure he has it all engineered in his head. The agent didn't think we'd have any trouble selling, but our area is a unique market so one never knows. We're near a very small town with some services, stores, banks, medical clinics and elementary schools, but are an hour away from bigger stores, shopping centers, high schools, and hospitals. March is the beginning of the season for home sales, according to the agents, so we're hoping to be able to get things done so we can get in on this season.

Ds3 is coming to visit from Chicago with our youngest gs this weekend. We'll have a family get together on Saturday and I'm making corned beef and cabbage with potatoes and carrots. Everyone else can bring what they want to go with it, or to eat if they don't like it. We'll have Ds and gs here for 4 nights, but they'll use this as a base to go and visit from. Steve will be working most of the time, but will be able to have time with them on Sunday.

Kids are waking up. Time to start my day.

Hi all!
Terri, that was a bummer that it cost so much for the home inspection, but the $1k saved them a lot more $k's! Nice that they were able to find something actually better so quickly! I skipped the flu shot for a lot of years because I got really sick the last time I had one. However, I was tired of being asked so I relented and had one back in January. I think it was a good thing since I ended up having surgery. I think that a lot of the long-time shots are necessary and am perturbed that so many are skipping the ones for the kids, thus allowing those illnesses to return.

Cathy, it is cold here, too. There was frost on the storage box & grill cover on our deck this morning, but none on the deck itself...so that's a plus. The sun has melted it though. We still have snow in the mid-section of the back yard, probably because the sun doesn't hit it long enough. Hope you don't get whatever sick is going on in your classroom! Did the teacher come in?

Betsy, I know all about hovering DH's! LOL!

I got the "In Memory of" tags onto the vestments. With the dog hair seeming to be everywhere, I think I will forgo trying to iron them up and just return them to the rectory. I'm also going to do the same with the altar server alb. It is a bit wrinkly, but I think it will be okay.

I have to bring the Explorer to the gas station...the check engine light is on. J wanted me to have them check to see what the issue is and then schedule it to be fixed on Saturday, but if I can get a ride home and they can fix it today, just do it!

Have a great 1st day of Spring!

Anne

Betsy, it's a shame that you couldn't take this week off since you and dh don't seem to get any of summer break off together. But at least he has time to do things and the weather is cooperating so that he can. Did you figure out why the water was coming into the basement?
Dianne, how was the walk? It felt colder when I left school than it did when I went---and it was cold yesterday morning with ice on the windshield---and cold again today even though it is the first day of Spring.
Anne, I know you will be glad when they can move out but nice of you to allow them to stay. Does that mean he hasn't found a full time job or does he do most of his work from home? Of course you stopped by and brought work home from both places---that is just who you are. But don't rush yourself back to work and then have a set back---ease back in. I know what you mean---one case was enough for me to know I don't want it again but smart to wait until after your surgery and recovery to have them started.
Terri, Congrats to them finding a home that was in better shape. Have they sold their house up on the mountain or where they waiting until they found a house? How about the one who is buying the property with you? Do they have to wait until their home is sold before they can put their money in? What will they do with their home? Will you get more snow where you are moving to or about the same? Has Steve found a new vehicle yet? Good idea to start on the flower beds---that will look nice for sale purposes. Did the realtor think your property might sell quickly after the items are done?
First day of Spring---won't really feel like it here but that is normal. I am going to have the kids either make a flower or a collage of plants as something different to do today. Teacher said her procedure went well and haven't heard from her to say she is not coming in----but she needs to test the kids so I know I will still be teaching. No Diego---nurse called and he is sick and she told Mom to keep him home until he was feeling a lot better---hope she listens. Our girl went home sick yesterday, too---so I just had the 5 boys so it was't that bad. One struggled all day with stuff---not sure what was up with him---and he got in trouble in gym so no free time for him yesterday.
Heading out earlier than usual ---same yesterday---having to pick up a friend to take to work---her car needs repair---hope she gets it done soon---even leaving 10 minutes early is a bummer!

I'm sorry none of you have been able to visit the log house! Dianne, there's still time--so if you find yourself in California this spring...

I don't take flu shots and don't want the shingles vaccine but I admit that I may regret that one day. Too many experimental drugs being promoted and I don't care to be a lab rat. DS1 had so many vaccines forced on him when he was in the Army, it made me sick! They even gave him Anthrax! Of course, there was the fear of biological weapons, etc. but YIKES! I still have my 1970s distrust of the government, so will wait.

I think I've told you that Jenny is moving to the coast, right? Well, they'd put in an offer on a cute little Craftsman-style home and it was accepted; however, upon having inspections done, it was discovered that a lot of things needed work. The seller wasn't willing to negotiate down far enough to make it worth their while, so Jenny & SIL let it go. Sadly, they spent about $1000 for the inspections and won't get that back. But they kept looking (Jenny looked while SIL works) and they found another, much nicer home that has already had all the inspections done and made another offer. They found out yesterday that it was accepted and it looks like everything is a Go on this one. They want a 30-day escrow, so their moving date should be April 16th.

They'll be able to use some of the furniture I need to get rid of and it will stay in the family. We've offered the twin beds, the nice coffee table and end tables, some bookshelves and the dining set if they want it. So now I won't push to sell as much of this stuff until I see how much of it she'll be able to use.

We changed our residency back to the log house effective Jan 1 of this year. We've had 3 years in the other house, so we're covered. We have lived in both houses for at least 2 of the previous 5 years, which qualifies either one for the tax protection. I don't think we'll have any capital gains on the log house since we're buying another home with the proceeds. It'll be a wash. When we sell the other house is when we'll need the exemption because we won't be reinvesting the money (except into our ROTH IRA accounts as long as Steve is working)

I'm starting to wonder about my garden, too. We're in limbo right now. Can't sell either house until some things are done. Can't plant a garden anywhere that I don't plan to BE all the time. Can't be on the ranch until something sells and we're freed up to work on that place. We're just going to have to see how things play out in the next few weeks/months. I wish I had a greenhouse so I could start some seeds because I can't have my kitchen window looking like a greenhouse while it's being shown....what to do, what to do? I guess I should just get out and clean out these flower beds and get some dirt under my nails. Maybe then I'll feel more normal.

Hi all!
Cathy, I've had shingles 3 times...fortunately all were mild cases. I had to wait before I could get a shingles vaccine and I think my PCP would have given it to me except for the upcoming surgery. I have my annual in the summer, so I probably will get it then. I definitely don't want shingles worse than what I had and I know I had cases that weren't even worthy of talking about...others would be very jealous! Glad you were able to use the pool and that it felt so good! I would love to be told that I need pool PT...that is, if the water is warm enough, lol! Hope your class behaves and you accomplish what you plan!

Betsy, glad you were able to go home and start flushing and using running water again! It is very annoying when you don't have those things available! Did they shut water off so that people would not flush? How much damage has been done by the flooding? Sounds like you have quite a crowd this week with Spring Break going on! Glad your DH is able to help! I hope K didn't do a ton of damage to the engine...maybe you'll be lucky and they'll just have to do an oil change, replace the filters, and things will be back in working order! Fingers crossed! Did DD1 go back to work? Sounds like this procedure was much easier than the last time!

Terri, it sounds like you have quite the plateful right now! How tall with the grass grow in 3 weeks? Usually we have to mow every week or the mower isn't happy! (Both the one mowing and the lawn mower, lol!) Do you have a lot to finish up on the canyon house before it can be sold?

Dianne, you are right about still having company...it seems like every time I try to read the chat someone calls or BIL comes down...it's like when I'd go to the bathroom while the kids were playing...as soon as I went into the bathroom the kids were looking for me...no "me" space, lol! Walking is very good exercise and it is probably a very nice change from the gym! Our yards are a mess! We still have snow in the backyard and where the plow pushed it up at the end of our driveway. There's a ton of broken branches in both yards. I'm thinking we will have to take down the English Walnut tree this year...the major lead broke off in one of the storms last month. Now, did I read correctly? Are you concerned about the "poor insects"? Yechh! I'd be thrilled if they were all gone! I do hope the cleaners didn't wreck your rhubarb, though!

I can't believe how fast time is going! It's been 3 weeks since the surgery. The hip feels good, but gets sore at times. PT is twice a week and going well. She is using the exercises I have been doing, but tweaking them a bit to use more muscles. My sister is back to work full-time now, but my BIL is only having a meeting every once in a while, so he is around a lot. I have had some visitors, but have been trying to make sure they come when someone else is here to help keep Odin from jumping. Fortunately most guests are okay with him. I would love to invite Fr. Bill over, but he's allergic to dogs and I definitely wouldn't want Odin to jump up on him!

After this morning's PT I stopped at the rectory...brought home work...one of the altar server albs had a huge ink spot across the front, which I managed to get out. I still have to iron it...probably tomorrow. I also have 2 Dalmatics that need the "In Memory of..." tags stitched in. I will do that tomorrow...my sewing box is on the floor of my closet and I can't bend to get it. After chatting with everyone, I left and went to the gas station. I swapped out the paperwork that I already entered onto the computer for the last few days of paperwork. I'm thinking I may be able to return there next week...at least for one shift. If there are things that are in lower filing cabinet drawers someone else can get them for me. Needless to say, I am bored! I am hungry, too! Guess I'll go find something to eat and then do my afternoon set of exercises!

Have a great Tuesday!

Anne

Morning! I got up with hubby at 6 but didn't get dressed and have decided I will walk today and skip the gym. I just didn't feel like it--but I'll go walk 3 miles in a bit.

Cathy--glad you got back to the pool--I know it feels wonderful! Yesterday I did push and got a great workout. Hope your day goes well!

Betsy--I keep seeing photos of Nebraska--those poor farmers! I read that the blizzard came during calving season--there went their profits for the year. My heart just breaks for them. Glad you do have some help and I hope K's car is okay. I guess WI is now on "instructional minutes" instead of days--my old HS is adding 10 minutes to each day--like that is going to make up for all the days missed. Oh, well--I just don't understand, I guess.

Terri--you will need to finagle your tax address! But--I'm sure you'll get it worked out fine. Sorry we didn't get to see the log house in real life--but wherever you and your prince are will be "home" to all the family.

Better get moving. Oh--I play Scrabble on-line--got a 143 point play!

Dianne, thank goodness the solution for the teeth was finally discovered, whatever it was.
Your hoarder friends remind me of the house next door to us. Since the dumpster is still out in their driveway and as of a few days ago, they still had snow on their roof, I can't imagine what the inside looks like after this very difficult winter. Sometimes I wonder if they are just waiting for it to be condemned, sigh. I'm surprised your mom got the type of stitches that need removal since most are dissolvable these days but I am glad she's healing. Thank goodness they live UP on a hill. Poor Nebraska. As far as spring clean up goes, I often question who decided that pristine grass lawns were the perfect yard.

Cathy, I agree that the shingles shot was a good idea but I am sorry you got the side effects.
There are a few schools around here who don't get spring break but most do. DH has been cooking, helping me and working on cleaning up the limbs that are no longer frozen in the snow ( blizzard.) Your thought of Diego still being sick reminded me that Landon is also sick again but not sick enough to stay home, sigh.

Terri, you are going to be a very busy property owner! Could I borrow the person who cleans like a Tasmanian devil, please? It turns out there is something wrong with K's car and it has to do with the underside. DH is taking her to work today and we are hopeful our mechanic can take a look at it today or tomorrow. Thank goodness he is home on spring break so he can be her chauffeur.

Anne, hello!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Betsy, I had a mild case of shingles on my left leg about 5 years ago---I definitely don't want it again---and very thankful that it was mild--that was bad enough. I hate shots but prefer that over the actual disease. Wish we got a week off for Spring Break---our college is on Spring Break right now so things are kind of quiet over there. Hope this week isn't too stressful and that Dh is a big help.
Terri, oh, no, now you have 3 yards to take care of---LOL You will be super busy again this summer. Will you be able to plant a garden anywhere this summer? Sounds like you will be too busy to deal with all that canning again. Bummer that Steve will need to work as much as possible---hope he can take a break now and then, esp. if he feels tired---after all, he is supposed to be retired. Just remember if he works more, you will have to pay more out to the state. Big question---have you changed your official address back to the log house? I know you did that to avoid tax hit on the sale of the canyon house.
Dianne, glad he enjoyed you remembering his birthday. Doesn't sound like your friends will ever really be able to retire. What a shame! Glad your mom is doing well.
Teaching went well yesterday with no Diego. I am betting the 2 days he came last week were too much for him and he is sick again. Already have the plans kind of laid out for today so we are ready to go---looks like I will need to make some copies of stuff for the next day to have enough stuff.
First time at the pool last night in 3 weeks. Felt so good to get in that warm water. I only did one hour and kept moving but didn't push it. I needed the exercise but don't need to be too sore.
Have a good day!

Hi! I was busy today--gym, bank, book sale again (got 2 grocery bags full of hardcover books for $2--gifts for my friend), lunch and then to the assisted living to say Happy birthday to my friend Bob. He was touched--even though some of the 4 books were print too small--have to get him to use the magnifying glass! He has one! anyway--he was happy to be remembered. AND his teeth are in again--not sure what happened and didn't ask!

I love my friend--we have been friends for 39 years, etc but she does NOT get rid of stuff. And I don't understand buying houses FOR the kids--she was told by her dad that real estate is the way to make money but NOT if you buy high and pay high interest. She has 2nd mortgaged places, etc and is just underwater on everything--and she owns at least 4 houses plus her own. They want to retire but can't afford to--so they are selling this house and storing LOTS so the house shows well. Much of what she is going to pay to store is NOT worth it. She has shipped a bunch of stuff to FL to her son--he drives up with a trailer but she pays expenses both ways--not sure WHY she is sending so much to FL--at least some will HAVE to come back. Both she and her DH have strong hoarder tendencies and both have NOT pushed the kids out of the nest.... Oh, well--they will have to deal. I am thankful that our kids know we will help them BUT it isn't a full scale "bailout".

My mom's hand is healing. Stitches (all 15) come out Friday. Her eyes are good--the cataract surgery was successful. Dad is now starting the process. They haven't had any more snow and the melting is going okay at their place--good to live UP on a hill. Betsy--glad you are doing better! Hope the roads recover! I have seen photos from NB--I drove through some of those parts.

Terri--when will you list the log house? I expect it will go! And yes, the boys can help with the mowing--are you going to list the canyon house again? Have the neighbors moved? Glad Steve is able to work--hope he takes enough time to rest!

Cathy--hope the teaching goes well for you. I need to get the shingles shot--don't really want to but I really don't want shingles so I will get it. I hope I don't get the side effects--although I can always use a nap! The lawn service came today to do the spring clean up--so the branches are picked up and all the dead leaves blown out to the street. Sigh--poor insects, etc. I would like to leave them but....not allowed. I didn't go look--I hope they didn't squash my rhubarb!

Anne--still have company? I expect that is one reason you aren't here yet! Miss you!

So--tomorrow is my dinner with the gals from the girls' HS. Always interesting! Didn't hear much from the girls this weekend but I know they are kicking! Hugs to you all!

Betsy, I'm so glad you can flush again! That's not a problem that's easily solved! You just have to wait for the water to dissipate or recede. I hope things return to normal soon. Also very glad to hear that DD1 is recovering quickly. I'm guessing that K's car was okay after going through the deep puddle.

Dianne, good for you for sorting as you go with your friend's stuff. No sense in packing junk. I'm sorry they're in such a situation. How did they get so upside down with their house? Did they borrow against it or just pay too much? Too many people got into houses with adjustable rate loans, thinking they'd be able to refinance soon and then got caught when the bubble burst. So sad. I can't understand why they'd be supporting adult children unless there's a handicap of some kind--or why the kids aren't working SOMEWHERE. Is she going to have to put everything in storage? If so, it would be of great benefit to purge as much as possible so there isn't as much to store.

Cathy, we'll be staying in the log house until it sells, I imagine--With some intermittent trips to the canyon to check on things and mow at the very least. We've already decided that Steve will work while there's work to be had and I'll go down to mow every 3rd week or so. I can take a couple of boys with me and get it done in a couple of days or so. With that schedule, we can water the fruit trees deeply while there, and they should be okay in between. This will be their 2nd year in the ground and they were well-established by the end of last summer.

The kids might be able to move out to the ranch this spring, so we'll be helping them clean the barn and grounds a bit when we can. My DIL is like a Tasmanian devil when it comes to cleaning! She'll have the place emptied, stripped of old carpets and wall fixtures in a day and will have it scrubbed and painted before the week is out. I would work in the yard and start a burn pile to clean up the overgrown shrubs, bushes and windfallen tree branches. I could be quite busy with that for days and days, as there are a lot of trees down on the ranch. But the yard clean up could be done pretty well in a weekend with a burn pile and a trip to the dump.

I had planned to go to town today and go to the DMV, but I've been up since 3:30, so am not sure now. I'm sure I'll be wanting a nap later.

Cathy, sorry you got the side effects from the shot but in the end it will be worth it. I have had shingles already and they are not fun. It was painful to wear clothing! It looks like you will be teaching a lot this week, hope it goes well. It's spring break so I don't have the tiny baby Mia but I will have Landon's big brother, Dane and Dela will be here five days instead of three. We are going to hit forty tomorrow so we may actually get outside for a while and that will be exciting for everyone. DH is home all week so he'll help and that will be great.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Dianne, that's just crazy---not sure if I feel sorry for her kids if they have been such sponges on them They will have a hard time when the money dries up or they pass away. Know my BIL has had a hard time but we weren't going to bail him out in anything nor did we have the means to anyhow. Are you expecting snow today? Just watching the news this morning but we won't get any down here.
Betsy, glad dd1 is ready to go back to work. When will she hear anything about the test? Hope your son did okay on the interview. Glad the water restriction was lifted for your area but hope you didn't overload the system---LOL The new shingles vaccine, which is 90% effective--is a series of 2 in a 6 month period. But of course, I ended up with some of the side effects. I felt so wonderful on Saturday with lots of energy, but by Saturday night, the fatique and chills hit me. I fell asleep early, got up about normal time but laid down on the couch and went back to sleep. Woke up, did my normal Sunday routine with shower and computer and felt exhausted. So got dressed early, laid down on the couch and took another nap. Woke up in time for church, went, came home, and fell back asleep on the couch before I even ate any lunch. I did lay down early last night, too. but this morning I seem to be feeling rested---but arm is still sore as heck.
Back to work---and know I will be busy. Teacher still has lots of testing to do and is off tomorrow for a procedure---think D & C---she thinks she will be back on Wednesday but I doubt it.
Have a good week!

Cathy, I did come home but had to scan the groceries from Festival Foods ( love that store,) go to Mass, shop a bit more here, make supper and watch a movie. I didn't HAVE to watch a movie but we saw some of War Games at the hotel and decided to watch the whole thing before we went to bed. Our side of the village has had the water restriction lifted, phew! You don't know how much you miss something like that until it is gone! We'll run the dishwasher two or three times tonight and the towels from the flooded day care we found before we left on Thursday are in the wash machine now with bleach. I am glad you are feeling better and enjoying some nice weather. It is 33 here and I have a heavy sweater so it was wonderful not to wear a winter jacket into Kohl's. We had to spend that Kohl's cash we earned last weekend so I wound up with a new swimsuit and a pair of jeans for only seven dollars! You mentioned the first round of a shingles shot, how many do you have to get? DH didn't have to interview, just apply, DS was the one who had the working interview for photography.

Dianne, your friend fits the definition of a hoarder. We want to get rid of stuff but where do we find the time? Another area near here flooded last night so this isn't over but it has definitely gotten better. We have never had a school cancellation for flooding before!

Terri, you weren't kidding, that is a big change! It sounds perfect for you. Your other grands may be upset but they will get over it or learn to be really good hikers!

I am way behind on cleaning and tax prep here so I need to get back to those things.
DD1 is finally back to herself today and ready for school tomorrow.

Hi! Happy St. Patrick's Day! St. Pat was an engineer--he is their patron saint.

So choir sang this AM--we did have 3 women and 4 men. Sounded good.

I think my friend is never going to unpack these boxes. She found her mixer after living in this house for 17 years--in a box with sheets in one of the bedrooms. So--the stuff she shoves into a box now will never see the light of day again--and her kids are not going to want to deal with it. They don't know where they will end up--but they are paying more in the mortgage than the house is worth so trying to stop hemorrhaging money. (They are supporting 2 of the 3 ADULT children--the oldest isn't working at all....)

Terri--I am going to get rid of furniture--have asked the kids to keep 3 antique pieces eventually. Dishware will be hard for me to part with--not sure why! But we will have a giant garage sale! I am learning that I can find most anything at a thrift store or garage sale! So if I need it later, I can get it.

Cathy--my mom still has too much--like me but she has purged some. She has a collection of angels and of course her Danielle Steele books! Plus the Chicken Soup books. Glad you got out yesterday.

I do know the roads around Betsy are still wet--I try to keep up with WI news. At least they didn't get the snow storm like CO and NB.

Anne--are you doing okay? Hope you had a nice St. Patrick's Day!

Dianne, I think your friend will be sorry later---but having someone help kind of makes it hard to sort and get a lot done. Nice of you to help her out. Is she downsizing or just moving somewhere else? The person that hosted the card party on Friday, I will feel real sorry for her kids when they have to get rid of all the stuff in her house. She has decor all over the place and stuff in storage. The guest bathroom is a Raven bathroom and it is decorated to the hilt with very little wall space totally filled.
Betsy either didn't get home or came home to lots of water to deal with since we didn't hear from her.
Terri, you might have 3 houses for a while----sure hope not! I immediately thought about that roll top desk you just finished cleaning and thinking you will be getting rid of that. LOL----might be a good idea to take some money from sale of items and get that laptop you want so that you don't have to worry finding a place for the computer. Did the person come and give you an idea of value of the house? Did they think it would sell quickly?
I got in 2 nice walks yesterday when Dh was gone to feed the dogs. Plus we went to CVS to get a prescription for him and I walked over to the Dollar General. I found some things for my fairy garden set ups and already placed them. Got a few chores done, too. While at CVS we got our first round of the new Shingles shot---boy, is my arm sore!
Don't forget to wear something green today! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Start now, Dianne! We went through the house and looked at all the furniture to see what we might keep and what must go. Even being ruthless and getting rid of extra furniture, I will still have too much. At some point, I'll have to get rid of some things I don't want to, I'm afraid. But I'm going to have a storage shed built first thing so I can hang onto some things until we get settled. I could take a few pieces to the canyon too, and may do that with a lot of my fabric and sewing if we end up there for any time this summer

Betsy, if you read the Spark mail I sent you, it will make sense. We are not moving away from the family. We'll be local, but not walking distance like we have been. Actually, for the first time, we WILL be walking distance from the grands that haven't been able to walk our house yet--the 4 that lived a few miles from us.

We'll still have two houses for a while, but we won't have to worry about keeping the grounds mowed on the ranch because DS2, the boys, and/or their horses will keep it down.

Hi! Quick--going to bed soon! Can't believe I didn't get on here this AM. I did get to the gym.

Recipe was good--I will post tomorrow. We spent the afternoon helping a friend pack up stuff--the house is getting painted so they can sell. She wanted everything boxed--she'll sort later....no, I sorted and tossed lots! I WILL be ruthless when I am sorting stuff to move. I saw how much crap they have and I won't deal with that.

We certainly didn't have as nice a day today as we did yesterday but sun was shining. I will get more done here tomorrow. We did get our trip to Vancouver booked!

Dianne, how did the new recipe turn out? I think I have had corned beef before and I think I liked it--but like you, my dh doesn't want any. Guessing you aren't supposed to show favortism as a volunteer but can go as a friend with a gift. Also with the patients, some might have special diets and not allowed to have certain things. Hope he gets those dentures fixed and able to wear them again.
Betsy, if you can't do those things at home, you might be better to stay up there. We would have those issues occasionally where we used to live because of the septic system and drainage field issues---too much rain made that difficult on certain days. I am so glad to not have that problem in the city---one reason why I don't mind having to pay city taxes. Glad your dd1 is starting to feel human again. Glad your dh's interview went well. Kind of silly to have to do that every year but guess it is part of their hiring procedure.
Terri, boy, you will be super busy and hope things sell quickly. Too bad none of your own children can't consider buying the log house to keep it in the family. I have another question for you---does the new place have phone and internet access? Boy, we would be really upset if you don't stay with us! And who will host the huge Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve? But downsizing now does sound like a good idea---I wouldn't want to clean your house with all those rooms. Actually it would be really nice if your gd was in financial position to buy the house from you. You are right---okay if the kitty climbs in my lap after I sit down---LOL---but not the dog!
I had a lovely time playing cards---didn't win either hand but that is okay--it was still fun. I did get some needed items done yesterday---now have 2 clean counter tops with miscellaneous stuff put away. Also felt like a walk yesterday while dh was off feeding Michael's dogs. It felt good yesterday to have the energy to do things again.
Again working in the kitchen and something in the living room. Also going to get the hand tiller and loosen up the soil for the peas---I might go ahead and plant them today instead of tomorrow.
Have a lovely Saturday.!

Away from home so still posting on phone. Our area is having waste water problems due to the flooding so we have been asked not to flush, shower, do laundry or wash dishes. DH will join me here and we have a hotel for the night. Our local schools closed for the eighth time this year! DD2 will stay home and keep an eye on things.

Terri, you are going to move six hours away from your family permanently? That is big news!

DD1 thinks she’ll be ready for a real breakfast tomorrow and has asked for pancakes so that is great. DS has his working interview and felt it went very well.

I will comment on posts when we get home, hopefully tomorrow.

Betsy, I was sorry to hear about the young woman losing her baby to miscarriage. Jenny lost two pregnancies between Timothy and Jasmine and the first one put her into a dark depression. The second one was not as deep, but I think she had steeled herself prior to going in for the ultrasound. When she became pregnant with Jasmine, it was much different that her first 5 and I think she was trying to keep herself from getting too attached. Losing those babies changed her on a deep level because she's not a person who holds back her love and that's what it seemed like to me.

I hope K's car dries out and doesn't give her any troubles. She needs to know that driving through deep water will affect her brakes, too. I hope DD1 is feeling better today and that you're having a good visit.

Cathy, I know you don't like dogs but I'll bet you don't mind a cat climbing up into your lap! I like animals and children, but not usually other people's--and never the ill-behaved ones! LOL I say that all the time and my friends just shake their heads and comment, "Yes, that must be why you've been surrounded by kids your whole life!" I've taught Sunday School, done daycare, coached softball, done school trips and functions, taught sewing classes to kids at the Chr. school and for 4H, among other things. I don't think they believe me. But I really don't like unruly dogs who jump up on you. Not even the small ones. Puppies are different because they're still learning manners. Rosie used to do that when she lived with Jenny's family and all those kids, because they thought it was cute when she was little. Not so cute when she's huge and scratching the door of your car! Needless to say, that behavior was quickly quelled when she came to live with us.

Anne, I hope Odin doesn't knock you down! Please be careful. He is a beautiful boy, though. Does he make you want to replace Tucker? Rosie is getting quite gray around the muzzle and we know that she may not have many good years left, but we aren't in any kind of hurry to get another dog. She's a once-in-a-lifetime dog anyway, and we know that we'd never find another one like her.

I'm going to go to the coast today and take care of all the DMV stuff for my new car. I need to get that out of the way so I can focus on other things. It's hanging over my head like the taxes do before I file. BTW, I saw the direct deposit notice for my Federal return this morning, so now all I have coming is the $4 from California.

In case you've seen my wall post and are wondering about our new adventure...we've decided to sell the log house. How about that for a turn of events? Now my decluttering and purging/downsizing begins in earnest. This house plus the shop and toolroom! UGH! Too much stuff! Time to have a perpetual yard sale and just keep dragging stuff outside until enough has gone away.

Morning! Betsy--hope the car is okay. My folks have big puddles everywhere but the ground is frozen so sump pump isn't running. Another friend has feet of water in the yard--and in the basement. So the issues are ALL over. Nice to have spring but not with all the water/snow that is standing around. I know people are doing sand bags. Glad DD1 is resting okay--hope there is good info that will help her! And I hope DD2's car is okay as well.

Anne--glad you are back! Odin looks adorable! I hope your sister and BIL can get settled in their own place SOON for you. Also glad you found a PT that will work for you--you should be able to go to any one. I have never needed PT--hope yours helps you get moving easily! I expect you have all the paperwork in your house sorted at this point! I can take canned soup to my friend since I am NOT a volunteer when I visit him but a friend. He has a microwave and fridge so can cook things.

Terri--those are long days for Steve! and yes, I am sure he is looking at the car payments but I hope he doesn't overdo. Are you back to 100% after your surgery?

Cathy--glad your kids enjoyed yesterday. I don't know if I would enjoy helping or not but glad you got to see some people that you enjoyed. I have daffodils in one spot that may bloom soon and lots of other flowers are coming up. I do expect you'll have some scar but the vitamin E will keep it to a minimum. I don't quite know what the issue is with my friend's dentures but he is in touch with his daughter so they will get it worked out. His son is supposed to come up on Sunday--his 84th birthday is Monday. I have a birthday card and a word search puzzle book for him.

So making a new recipe tonight--I'll post it if it turns out to be good. Enjoy your weekend--I don't expect to get any corned beef--hubby doesn't like it.

Betsy, so glad your dd1 got thru the procedure much better than the last time and I know she is glad it is over with, too. Hope this can provide some answers and maybe a way to help her with her problems. Yikes to the flooding---the drainage you put in is probably overloaded or blocked from all the snow and wet. Sounds like a real mess in your area. Hope your dh was able to move enough snow away from that side of the house to prevent more flooding into the basement. Hope no damage to your dd2's car---but doesn't she know not to drive thru standing water when you don't know how deep it is? Hope your dd1 feels good enough to enjoy some time with you today.
Dianne, glad the massage made you feel good. Has anyone let your friend's family know that he needs a trip back to the dental place---but he might need to start wearing them for a little bit at a time and increase the time until his mouth gets used to ones that fit---his might have been loose for a while.
Anne, it sure makes more sense to go to one close by than to travel further---and all offices should be able to follow the doctor's directions---afterall, they have all that training---or at least down here they do. And you are more likely to go to one close by than the other one, too. Sure hope the ones in your sister's house can move out sooner than that and that they haven't destroyed the house while living there. I hope they realize that there might need to be repairs and cleaning before they move back in. Glad I am not visiting right now---boy, do I hate a dog that jumps up on me! Glad your other visitors have been okay---but betting some were just too nice to tell you that they didn't appreciate the dog. Glad the station is helping you find something to do with your time. Now that you are healing, you will find it hard to just relax---we all know how you are---LOL---hopefully our energizer bunny will be back in full swing soon---and now realize that others can do things and you will say NO to some of those things you have done but really didn't want to. LOL
Terri, hope Steve figured out a way home or did you have to go get him? Nice for him to have someone to ride with---at least then he isn't driving after being tired from a long day. Too long hours are not good for him---but know he is thinking of the vehicle payments. What did you accomplish yesterday?
Well, the kids did well---the ones playing team basketball won the gold---big surprise to me because our kids that played are not the most athlietic but ones from other class were more capable---and guessing the other schools didn't have any at all. I was very glad to get back home---I would rather teach than do what we did yesterday. But I did see kids that were at the high school from last year---that was nice---and saw several people I knew and had a chance to chat.. Also saw teachers of our students and talked to them about how they were when younger and told them how they were doing in our room.
It was so warm when I got home yesterday that I opened the front door---the cats enjoyed being out on the porch. I thought about going outside for a while but was just too pooped from the activities at school. I did wander to the back section of the yard to see if those daffodils were blooming but not yet. Dh was back there messing with that downed tree but he came in after I got home.
I am using the vitamin E a couple of times a day---usually first thing in the morning when in pjs and then again when I go to put them on again. Pretty sure I will have a scar where the scab was.
Going out to lunch with some of the Red Hat ladies and then to play Polish poker---I was so happy when I saw they were doing that on the Friday I have off so I can go play.

Terri, you are right, we did have work done to eliminate flooding issues but the massive snowfalls combined with rapid warming have caused problems for many. I just learned there is a puddle that is nine inches deep on a road very close to our house. That road is closed. There is no door to our basement on the outside so that is not the problem.

DD2 is sleeping in her own bed and I am relieved to say that the recovery from this procedure is going much better than the last time. Last time we left the hospital 8 hours after surgery
and this time it was less than an hour!
DH has gone home to deal with the flooding issues and check on the car of DD2. She drove through a rather large puddle and now reports hearing sloshing in the car with difficulty turning.

Last, I was reading Facebook and learned my niece, mother of three , has up to a three year life expectancy. She lives in Maine so I have not seen her since her wedding about 10 years ago. She and her twin sister Rachael strongly support Metavivor as they do much needed research into metastatic breast cancer and 100 percent of donations go to the cause.

Time to read and charge the phone as DD1 sleeps.

Hi all!
Betsy, I sure hope the rain and melt down slows for you. Best wishes for DD1! Guess it was good that DD2 had that concert last night, lol! Do you have to reset all your clocks or do they have battery back up?
Terri, since you are getting 2 vehicles, I guess it is really good that Steve is working a lot! Being on hold is very annoying, but in your case, well worth it!
Dianne, did your buddy's lower teeth get adjusted too tight? You can bring soup into the home? I was enjoying the brighter sky in the morning, but give it a week or so and it will be brighter before you know it! How are your folks feeling?
Cathy, that was one nasty spill you took the end of last month! And the pudding had to be extremely hot to cause a burn...or was it a scrape burn? Glad today is your Friday! Hope Special Olympics went well!
I'm still in slo-mo mode! I had my Dr. appt on Tuesday...23 staples removed! I can shower today...waiting for J to get home so he can dry my feet, lol! I can't reach down to them! The doctor told me I could go to any outpatient PT, but when I went to the office on Tuesday (he was at a conference) his assistant said I needed to go to the PT group affiliated with their office. I called them when I got home and the girl that answered said she'd call me back. Well, finally at 6:45 another person from the office called and scheduled me for an appointment on the 19th, the 26th and then was going to schedule me one for 4/2 when I stopped her. I told her the form said I was to start ASAP with 2x/wk for 8 wks. She apologized and said this was the best she could do. I told her I was going to call my local PT group and see if they can follow the Dr.'s timeframe request, but not to cancel the 2 scheduled appointments just in case. I called local group yesterday morning and she scheduled me for next Tuesday and twice a week through April 30. So I called the previous office back and cancelled...got the 1st girl I talked with who got a bit huffy that I did that because she could most likely schedule me as the request was written. I told her that I have booked through 4/30 and that I wasn't going to change it, so just cancel the appointments and let the doctor know that I'm going local. It was so annoying! But I now only have to drive 5 minutes up the street instead of 30! Later yesterday the local office called and started me today! Yay! I am so glad!
My sister is the one who moved to GA in August, then SC in December, and is now back here. They'll be moving to a temporary apartment on 3/27, then hopefully the tenants who are leasing their home will move out by 9/1! Both my sister and her dh are back to work now. Her dh can work from home, but often does an errand during the day, so I have been alone with their dog, Odin, an almost 3 year old German Shepherd. He is good, but a jumper when people first arrive. Fortunately, my guests that have come by are fine with him and he does get back in control rather quickly.
I have done some computer work for the gas station. I'm grateful to have it because I am already starting to bonkers! I've managed to get most of my own paperwork and banking caught up...I need to just fix a couple of the credit card files because I didn't attach the receipts to the bills so far this year.
Going to do my exercises. Thanks for keeping up with my saga! Have a good night!

Anne

Best wishes for Dd1 today, Betsy. I hope you can get the snow away from the house enough not to flood. Is it coming in under the door? I know you had work done to make the rainwater drain away from the house before.

I missed getting up before Steve left for work. He closed the bedroom door and was super quiet when he left. He usually catches a ride with a coworker to the jobsite but I just listened to our voicemail and there was a message saying that the other guy was taking a different work truck to the site and Steve would be on his own. I guess by now they've got it all figured out, but there's no cell service between here and there, so I won't know until later. They are working 12 hr days now--6 days a week--until this job is over. Good money, but hard on the old guy. Needless to say, no projects are getting done around here these days.

I'm making my list for the day. I got some cleaning done yesterday that's been haunting me and need to pack up a few more things to donate, but I need some boxes so am kind of stalled there.

It's going to be a beautiful day. Maybe I'll work outside for a while.

Oh, no, Betsy! I know they are making sandbags for homes around my folks. I hope you can figure out how to stop the water from coming in! If you have people that don't want to go see the shows, let me know! I'll come!! Told DD1 I'd take hubby's ticket for Hamilton when she bought it--the 2 were over $400 but he did want to go.

I got up with hubby at 6 and then did crawl back into bed. My massage yesterday was wonderful--she found so many sore spots but none were AWFUL. She is so good. Last time hubby went, I gave her a scarf like Terri had made for me--she loves it.

Now to get to the grocery store and take some soup to my buddy. He got the bottom plate of his dentures fixed--but now BOTH hurt too much to wear them. So he can and will eat soup. I also have to do my shopping!

Cathy--glad the arm has healed! The pool will likely feel very good. Use that vitamin E oil on it!!

Better get moving!

Cathy, we have had a lot of rain, ice and melting , so much so that I got the surprise of a very wet vinyl floor in day care yesterday morning. It was not a great start to a very difficult day. I survived and now DH and I are off to pick up DD1 for her colonoscopy. I was relieved when she didn't call last night because I knew she made it through the liquid prep ok.

Dianne, thanks for the PE explanation, I knew it was important but just not exactly what it was. I broke down and bought a season ticket package for 4 to the PAC next year so we are going to see some fantastic shows including Hamilton, Miss Saigon and Dear Even Hansen plus tow more but I have to go.

Happy Pi Day!

PS Oh no! It flooded again! This time there's more water. I have one load of towels washing and DH is finishing the drying downstairs. He'll have to shovel the snow away from the house when he comes back tonight. Sigh... Hope your day goes better than our start did !

PSS We are in the car and I am grateful DH is driving, the fog is awful and it just started raining. I came back to tell you that one second after I hit the post message prompt, our power went out. DD2 is in for a big surprise when she awakens. Thankfully she took the day off because she went to a Gaelic Storm concert last night.

Betsy, it sounds like she is one that should be on bedrest for an entire pregnancy--sure hope one day she can carry one that will live--but if this one died that soon, she unfortunately might not be able to. So hard to adopt a new baby nowadays but they might want to start looking into that, Did you get much alone time with Mia before another arrived? Hope things worked out with the early nap with Landon. Are you all missing out on that blizzard bomb? Sure hope so---that sounds horrible.
Dianne, hope the people enjoyed the Irish music. Sounds like fun. We started out cold here too so I really needed my winter coat to go to school but had to take it off when I got back to my car at the end of the day. It is going to be really nice for the next 2 days here. I hope to get out there when I get off today.
Diego did okay yesterday----got thru some of his make-up work---didn't send any home since it was his birthday. His mom was wonderful yesterday. She brought lunch from Burger King for all the kids and for us, too. She baked a cake for the class and a special one for Diego---he is very limited in what he can eat and he cannot have sugar( I feel very sorry for him about that). That was a really nice treat for all of us.
Today is special Olympics---and it isn't even starting until 10:30---which is close to our lunch time---we are planning on pizza for the kids but not sure how this is going to work out now.
I can definitely go to the pool next week---part of the scab came off after my shower and woke up to this morning with the rest just hanging on to my arm---so all of it is gone. Yippee!
Have a good day! emoticon

Morning! Betsy--they went to a place--Merva and Lucy's? The Lucy in the name is a long time family friend. And out here, liquor licenses are SO expensive that only some places can afford them so you can bring your own wine or beer to places that don't have a bar. No hard liquor but wine and beer is okay. My brother wouldn't believe me till we took him to a place! And PE is Professional Engineer--DD3 will have to take her exam as well. I don't know much about it--as an industrial engineer, I didn't need it unless I was going to be testifying at trials but DD3 is a Civil Engineer--her work will for sure impact the public--so she needs to pass this test. She passed the college level one--and will need to pass another after she works for 5 years. It is a big deal to civil engineers.

Cathy--enjoy your Friday! Sounds like fun.

I got out for a walk this AM--my leg was sore yesterday when trying to do squats at the gym so I just walked today. I also have a massage and didn't want to make any muscles mad! It is just 30 now but supposed to warm up all day. Going to the home today--I have my Irish songs ready to sing. I need to make a big list of all my songs.

Need to go get my shower!

Cathy, this couple lost their first baby but losing multiples could be in their future as the woman has a condition that makes conception and carrying difficult according to Dela's mom. I know we lost three and are lucky to have the three that are with us. How exciting that you get to play cards, I know how much you love that. We have a a restaurant with a favorite waitress we ask fro as well. Here's hoping Diego is well enough to enjoy his birthday and get a lot of make up work accomplished! As far as I know, the pill prep is only for those who are not at high risk and if anything is found, those people have to undergo the awful liquid as well. Apparently this time there's a little bit less awful liquid, she'll find out tonight.

Speaking of restaurants, Dianne, a restaurant with BYOB is a new concept for me, I didn't know such a thing existed. The only place we have that here is the jazz festival in the park on Labor Day weekend. Did your parents go to Paul Bunyan's? Yes, time off in the summer would be glorious, even if the time off just means lower numbers. I am in for a crazy year next year so as long as DH has his summer job, we could manage without the extra income. Nellie's parents have seen how in demand I have been for new babies so her dad just told me yesterday that they are hoping to have a spot left for them in about a year and a half but he wants to pass his PE first, some kind of engineering exam. I told him PE meant Phy Ed to me but I bet you know what he means!

The Speech pathologist is coming to see Landon at 3 again today which means I have to get him down early for a nap, hope it works. He has made some really good gains so I am hopeful that continues.

My first bambino is here, Miss Mia, heigh ho....

Betsy, I wonder why they went to the nasty stuff instead of the pills that seems to work so well. I am not sure i could get it down myself---I don't even like liquid meds and avoid them. I hope you have nice weather for the days off and can enjoy them a bit, even if just sitting outside while she rests. I think I might be able to do that on Friday here but the weekend the temps drop---so I am extra thankful that I have off Friday. It is sad she lost another baby---always hard when you are so looking forward to it and planning ahead.
Dianne, why did you have to get up yesterday morning? I hate leaving for work in the dark again. Turning off the kitchen light puts me in the dark until I get out the door.
As hostess, the only real duty you have is to pick the place to have the dinner, have people email or call to tell you they are coming, and calling the restaurant with the expected number. I did go buy some little green bracelets for everyone since St. Pat's day is Sunday---but not required---just wanted to do that. Some hostesses get a bit more creative but not all do that. Friday I get to go to our card afternoon----we will go out to lunch and then go play Polish Poker---I usually only get to do this in the summer since I work but it's a fun time together. We went to a local restaurant called Backstreet Grill--not a chain---everyone liked the choice---it's where Dh and I go on the Tuesdays that I don't have a meeting for the meatloaf special and I really like our waitress so I made sure we had her as our waitress as we do tip well.
Looks like Diego will be back today--because it's his birthday. Hope he is well enough to be there as he has lots of work to make up---LOL

Morning! I have been to the gym and even got a bit of a walk--I sent St. Pat's cards to my girls and folks--they all complain that the only mail they get are bills. My folks enjoyed dinner out last
night (In the Dells, Betsy) and shared a full order of ribs--and brought home enough for another meal! The place they went has huge portions.

HATED getting up in the dark today--it had just gotten nice--waking up and seeing some sun but no, back to getting up before dawn. I do wish we could just get up with sun time! I will admit I like the longer evening but would adapt just fine if I didn't get it.

Terri--glad you got so much done--even if it didn't seem to be much. Hope Steve gets a bit of rest before heading in today. We also have furniture that I'd love to give to the kids but not sure they will be in a place to want/need it when we move. (I say WHEN but no plans yet.)

Cathy--enjoy tonight. What restaurant did you pick? Our group of HS moms look for early dine options as well as BYOB but the latest 2 places are not BYOB--so we drink lots less!

Betsy--so sorry for that family--I understand that feeling since we lost our first as well. Glad you have another possible. I do hope you can get much of the summer off. Yes, not as much $$ but wouldn't that time be lovely!

Anne--are you busy with work already? I am going to try to get some housework done--hate it but it does need doing!

I better get moving. Guess I will get to listen to my book as a reward for working!

Cathy, DD1 still has to drink "stuff" but it is an alternative to what she tried last time. It wasn't pleasant but she's been able to do that before so we think she may have had some sort of virus in December. I'm ok with the planed baby not working out for me but I am heartbroken for the formerly expectant parents. The biggest comfort to me when I lost our babies was the ones I already had and they don't have any. You are correct, Baby Boy( if they come) wouldn't start until school starts. I will have my hands full but it will be worth it. Fall will be more difficult but it will get easier after Mia learns to walk in the winter and by then the boys will already be three! What are the duties of a Red hat host at a restaurant? Do you have a great red hat? Several to choose from? I always thought that would be a fun group but I just don't see any around here. Thanks for reminding me to plant something soon with the children so we can use the growth for Mothers Day gifts.

Tax preparation took up my whole evening but it was god to get most of it finished. The next step is to drop off my list with the accountant and see what I missed, there's always something.
We are going to hit forty degrees today! emoticon emoticon
