OMG! I just had this big long post that covered everything and when I hit "post message" the dang computer told me I had no internet! Ahhhhhh!

So, now I am going to say...I've read everything. Looks like Betsy's DH thinks he's on the mend enough to go back to school and the corned beef was delish! Terri's Rosie got beat up and seems a bit better, but is very sore...Poor Rosie! Cathy's Tanner situation is only good because he wasn't in class. She got a headache yesterday and isn't able to blame him, lol! Hope that's better. Dianne is tired and oversleeping or just not getting up early, but is still getting her exercising in. She is going back to work for that evil history group...but has a good plan. Yes, get dressed there and on their dime!

Life at the rectory is painful. I was there til almost midnight on Sunday. Fr. B left yesterday and arrived at the spiritual center that he is taking his sabbatical at. There is still lots to pack. I do have helpers. I have been able to hold back the tears, but it is getting harder and harder. More later.

Cathy sent me a text with a very pretty yellow iris. See...

I need to get back to work now...I have barely taken care of anything for today's gas station paperwork, lol!

Have a good night!

We have new neighbors and they have dogs--big dogs that they allow to roam. They have a friend working for them who also has a big dog--a pit bull--that has been allowed to roam with the others, making a pack. Rosie was barking to warn them off our property the day before yesterday when they turned on her and had her down. Steve went out yelling at the dogs, who turned her loose, finally, and helped her back up to the house where he checked her out. There was a little blood on one leg, but no other punctures. She is very stiff and sore and can barely get up off her bed. She's drinking water, but has't wanted much to eat and one foreleg is quite swollen.

After the incident, I immediately drove down to their house and told the owner about it and told him to keep his dogs off our property. They come up every day to poop and Rosie tries to chase them off. They've never been aggressive until the pit bull arrived. The neighbor was very apologetic and told his friend to lock his dog up in his truck. We didn't take Rosie to the vet because there were no open wounds and no broken bones, but if she's not better by tomorrow, I will. Yesterday, we had to help her get up to go outside and do her business. She immediately came back inside and laid down on her bed. This morning, she got up and came to our room to be let out, so that's progress. She's very gimpy and not putting weight on that swollen leg, but is able to get herself up now. Poor thing.

Steve has been working on the trim again today, but is now asleep in his chair at 11:00 am. Rosie got us up at 4:00, so I guess that's okay. He's enjoying being retired again and will be productive later. I'm going back up to the sewing room to sew those sashes for Jasmine's play. They shouldn't take but a few minutes and then I want to work on something else. Maybe I'll start sewing some of the quilt squares into blocks.

I planted two more trays of seeds last night. Most of the others are coming up nicely now. The peppers are being slow, but the cucumbers, tomatoes and spinach are up. I've also planted winter and summer squashes, sunflowers, 2 kinds of melons, and some chili peppers. The peppers really should've been started weeks ago, but we'll see how it goes. I may have to buy some plants to start if these don't grow fast enough.

Morning! I did set the alarm--and then turned it off cause I didn't feel like getting up! So I skipped the gym and did some strength exercises here at home. Worked up a bit of a sweat so that was enough.

I will be teaching the history at the same place in New Brunswick--East Jersey Old Town. Nothing has changed with the management--but I guess there are a few more guests. I will only go for school groups. At least now they say to arrive at 9:30--we used to have to be there at 9 and the kids didn't show till 10. Now they don't want them till 10 so traffic shouldn't be as bad. I am there every Thursday, starting this week--and several Wednesdays as well. IF they use a rain date, I might be there on a Friday but make no promises--traffic is nuts. My friend changes there after she is on the clock--and changes to go home on the clock--I may do that as well. It is easier for me to dress at home but I could change while there...have to see. The full-time employees sit around so I don't feel bad charging them for me dressing!

Betsy--glad the corned beef worked! WHY wouldn't DH stay home another day or two?? He will pay for this all summer....just starting out tired. With the rain predictions in WI, my folks are not sure when they will actually start the mess. The tarps won't be perfect and the floors/carpet really shouldn't get soaked.

Anne--we like knowing you are okay!

Cathy--ouch to DH foot! I would also have been grumpy about class cancelled with no warning. The Y does that all the time! I am looking forward to the summer outdoor exercise class that the Y sponsors in a local park on Wednesday nights. Zumba, yoga and pilates--go for the Zumba classes at 6 PM overlooking the river. Very nice!

Terri--hope the work on the log house is going well. How is the ankle??

Quiet day today--I need to put the computer room back together and figure out grocery shopping for this week. I need a recipe for Friday when our friends come over. I will look through some cook books and pick something and make my list. Plan to go tomorrow.

Cathy, I wouldn't think you would have to get "used to " a day without Tanner at all since he is gone so much anyway. How is DH's foot? Good thing you didn't go to the pool, I'd be mad if I went and there was no class too.
Mia is asleep so I have a couple minutes before the next child who will need immediate attention arrives. The funny thing about the corned beef was that the top was slightly burned but everyone liked it that way! I cooked it at 50 degrees too high but it was still very tender. I still want to try it the correct way because I think it will be loved more. All you do is baste it with kitchen Bouquet, cover it with sliced garlic and onions and add two Tablespoons of water before covering it tightly with foil and baking it at 275 for five hours ( four pound brisket.) the recipe is on the AllRecipes website.

Dianne, good luck to your parents with their house, that's quite a task!

Terri, I don't know how you keep things straight with your three houses!

I have eaten cake for three days and now it's time to get back on the band wagon so lots of water for me today. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Anne, with DH sick, my life is more of a whirlwind than usual as well. Although he shouldn't have, he did go back to work and then he is miserable at night which keeps both of us awake. The work day hasn't even started and I feel like I have already put in a full day, sigh. Please keep our friends Tim and Cindy in your prayers. We received a message yesterday stating that Tim has worsened and had to be ambulanced to Madison.

First child is here, off I go!

Hi all!
I have kept up with the chats until late Sunday. I am, as usual, on the fly! I have PT today and need to get a couple of things accomplished prior to leaving my house, popping in at the rectory to get the return that Fr. needs mailed. It is a whirlwind life and it sounds as though it may stay that way for the next week or so! More later! I'll try to pop back on later to catch up here and catch you all up with things in my life.

Have a great Tuesday!

Anne

Betsy, do you remember what you did so that you can cook it that way again? Best write it down---and glad to hear that it was fine.
Dianne, you were cutting it close for that class. I had decided not to go last night as Dh could not go----the doctor cut the callus off his foot yesterday----and it was a double good idea that I did---first, one of my bad headaches started around 5 and then I got a text that the class was canceled as the teacher had a family emergency. I would have been really bummed if I had gone and it has been cancelled. Where will you be doing the history lessons?
Funny day yesterday---no Tanner---getting used to that---teacher was supposed to be observed at noon so she was making sure she had everything planned out and copied---she kept changing her mind on the lesson---then 15 minutes before she was to come, that person texted us that she got pulled into a meeting and would not be coming. But at least she is ready for when she does come.
Going to warm up here this week after a chilly day yesterday---going to be too warm actually---into the 80's---I know it's May tomorrow but we shouldn't have these temps until the end of May.

Morning! My day started with a shock--hubby asked what time my class was--I looked at the clock and it was 7:41 and I had an 8 AM class. I made it--took my gym bag into the pool area cause I didn't want to take time to deal with lockers! It was a really good workout--got my heart rate to 143 in the pool! It didn't stay there long but I was working! Then I stopped at Panera to use DD2's $1 off a breakfast souffle -- it was wonderful! Likely too much cholesterol but tasted good! She is house sitting till tomorrow night.

DD1 was quite bummed about the missing key--she had run a great 10K but that joy disappeared when she couldn't find the key. Yesterday she did a half marathon and a 5K--had 4 medals to show for her runs. Now she does have 2 extra keys--and needs to find the hole in the pocket and stitch it closed!

Terri--sounds like you guys are BUSY! Take it easy on the ankle. I keep reminding myself to hold the hand rail, make sure of my footing, etc--I really don't want to fall and mess anything up and it only takes a second of non-vigilance to fall. Glad you have an agreement. Will you ever need to get a lawyer involved?

Cathy--your dinner out sounds nice! My iris are in bloom!

Betsy--I like corned beef--hubby not so much so I don't get it very often. Glad the recipe turned out okay. Hope you have a good week. My folks are packing up the front room so the roof can be removed and replaced. It was built in 1967 or so and is really leaking now. It's a flat roof and needs to be angled just a bit more. Hoping it all goes smoothly. That room hasn't been emptied since we moved in so they are going to find lots of stuff. Have a piano and organ to move/store!

Anne--don't work too hard!! And know we are keeping YOU in prayers as your Father moves.

I have to work this week--and will every Thursday till 3rd week of June. But only Thursdays except for one Wednesday--I may go herd cats/kids one or two other days. AND we don't need to arrive till 9:30--that is good cause traffic should be less by then.

Cathy, I only have time to report that I saved the day and the corned beef was wonderful. Dh wants me to bake it like that for our future St. Patrick's Day parties. We had a cake from my BIL's bakery, chocolate mint with raspberry filling with chocolate buttercream frosting. Mia has arrived, have to go, still need to make up Pack n Plays.

Anne, you need a speed bump right now---LOL---please don't overdo!
Dianne, don't people realize how bad it is to let the deer overpopulate? I don't understand places that would rather have sick starving deer that can carry diseases than allow hunting with permits. I saw how bad they looked around my friend's house down in NC---so sad!
Betsy, hope your meat was edible. What dessert did you make? How come you were so busy? Is Dh well enough to go to work today?
Terri, glad to hear they are not moving animals before they move themselves there. It sounds like there will be no end to work this summer there. Steve sure has gotten a lot done----but probably needed a break from getting down and up to put down the trim in some areas. I hope you did not reinjure that ankle---how will you take care of the canyon if you have? How much more until you put your house on the market?
We ended up going to the Irish Penny for dinner---both of us got the Shepherd's Pie---with enough leftover for another meal for both of us.
Back to work today.

I spent the afternoon in the sewing room and made myself two tank tops. The second one almost didn't get finished because the sewing machine was acting up and had to rethread it several times just to finish the edges and hem! I was about to throw the whole thing out the window! The hem doesn't look great, but it isn't very noticeable, so I'll wear it.

Steve finished trim in the doorways to the guest bath, laundry room and pantry. He still has two closets to trim and a bit in our bedroom, a guest bedroom, and the dining room. It won't take him long now that he's going on it. He did get tired of it this afternoon though, and went outside to run the weed eater for a while. That's how he rolls...like a butterfly going from one flower to another. I think he's going to order the hardware for the pantry "barn" door, but he'll build the door himself from wood that we already have.

I received an email with the new Lease/Purchase agreement for the ranch and read over it today. It reflects our discussion and all of the changes we agreed on, so now all we need is to collect the signatures. Adam (DS2) is still moving panels and slabs for his critters but says he'll wait until they move in to actually move the animals. They have a "toy hauler" trailer that the family can stay in at the ranch during the last week of May. The couple will be moved out of their barn/apartment by then and it will give Sarah (DIL2) a chance to clean the house they've been renting and help him move the animals out to the ranch--and then tackle the barn/apartment. She already has permission to start cleaning the upstairs to get it ready for her kids. That will be a project in itself, but she wants to be able to put their beds up there and have them set up. I imagine I'll be keeping some kids while they do this monumental feat. I don't know when I'll get started in the cabin, but it's mine on June 1st--so any time after that, I guess. The other partner may still want to use it when he comes up to work on the ranch and that will be okay with me for a while. I don't think we'll be moving anything in until we get the log house on the market.

Things are moving along now that Steve is home.

Ditto to what Anne said. Restful weekend didn't turn out to be restful at all and now I am afraid I may have dried out the corned beef. DH asked for a different recipe and I accidentally turned the oven temp. too high. I pulled it out but it's covered and I am afraid to look! Oh well, dessert will be delicious. Hopefully I can post more later but may not get here until tomorrow.

Good morning! We're enjoying our Sunday morning after getting to sleep in and wake up slowly. Wonderful!

Steve is busy measuring, cutting and putting up the trim he stained last week. It looks so much nicer. I'm going to take it easy today after mowing yesterday. I did the whole hillside in front of the house with the mower and really got a workout. I was sweaty and dragging by the time I put the mower away and walked up the hill to take a shower. Unfortunately, I noticed a familiar pain in my left ankle last night just before bed. I told Steve that it felt like when I injured the tendon and needed physical therapy and lots of caution for many months. It's not as painful as before--more like a warning that I did too much. At any rate, I won't be doing that hillside again! I even had my lace-up work boots on for support, but I guess I'm just not supposed to be working on hillsides anymore. It does look really good, though.

We went to our friend's memorial service and saw lots of old friends and had a great visit. As always, we all said "we have to do this more often--and not just at funerals!" I hope we do. There was a potluck after the service and I was very good. I only had some chicken breast, a piece of ham and some fresh cut veggies. I've been skipping carbs except what I get in my salads and veggies (no fruit right now) and I'm seeing some good results. Not having fresh fruit isn't fun and will be harder as the season progresses, but it's a small price to pay. I'm wearing a couple of pairs of jeans that weren't comfortable a month ago and my regular ones are a little baggy.

That must've been scary for DD1 to lose her car key, Dianne! I'm glad they were able to remedy it and even find the original! There must be a hole in that zipper compartment. Now she has 2 spares.

It sounds like Anne is getting back on her usual treadmill routine. Don't overdo it!

I need to get off the computer and do something productive. I've done all my Spark activities and bookkeeping, so need to get up and move. Have an enjoyable day!

**I had to come back to add this photo for Cathy. I took it at one of the thrift stores Ali and I visited last week and it made me laugh as I thought of you.

Morning! Cathy--the only predator for the deer is the car--and they haven't gotten too many lately. I know the poor things are starving but I still don't like them eating MY stuff! Terry--yes, portulaca is the other name but couldn't think of it. I will maybe get some going in pots on the deck--they haven't come up there yet!

We had cool and windy yesterday so I didn't get outside much. Same is expected today. Hubby is working on the entertainment unit--needs a special drill bit...

Poor DD1 called yesterday--she couldn't find her car key after her race. So she called her hubby to bring the other one, hunted all over, talked to race officials, met hubby to get the key, went to get bibs for today's race, got another key made--and found hers had somehow migrated from the back pocket where she had put it (zippered pocket) to the front of the waistband of her skirt. There must be a hole somewhere..... DD2 is dog sitting for a friend--enjoying the quiet and being closer to work cause she has critter duty. DD3 met up with our friends, got her bookcase and chair and little bag of clothes. She was glad to see them--their youngest was as close to a brother as DD3 had and she is flying in to go to his wedding with us in May.

Betsy--I didn't talk to my folks yet but the friends in Milwaukee have snow covering the back yard--more than when we were there for the funeral. Keep DH down in bed or he'll be sickly all summer from lack of rest!

Anne--get a little rest!!

Betsy, I cannot imagine that many teachers would attend a Saturday inservice----actually think the union would be able to fight that one---will there be problems if they don't? Good thing your Dh has a legitimate excuse to miss it. Are they paying the teachers extra? Your state is really crazy! Hope you didn't get any snow but know it would not be unusual for you. Good luck with your patient.
Anne, always off running---now we know you are truly healed---LOL
Dianne, glad the calla lilies are coming up---enjoy! Hard to find stuff that deer won't eat, esp. if there is a drought. Can you make up a pepper spray and spray stuff each week and after it rains? I know it's a pain to have to do that. I never have had to worry about deer---even when I lived in the country. Do they allow hunting in your area during the season? If the deer are overpopulated, they will starve themselves due to not enough vegetation in the wild areas.
Terri, hope you got something done before the service. Glad STeve is finally getting a break from driving. Great idea to do the sliding barn door on the pantry---they sure are popular now and would make sense in your log house. Hope things continue to go smoothly with the new place.
The greenhouses started out slow because of the chill and the wind, but as it warmed up, more people showed up and I was often busy answering questions and helping out. I stayed for 4 hours and boy, was I tired when I got home. The wind was really strong and I felt beat up from it when out in it. We sold almost all the geranium hanging baskets and lots of holes everywhere in the greenhouses.
Dh cooked the chicken out on the grill---it was protected from the wind by the fence---and I fixed mac and cheese to go along with it---so we had a nice simple dinner.
Just church planned today.

Portulaca is the other name for moss rose--and the deer will eat them. They ate mine in the canyon, along with pretty much everything else.

Steve is done driving truck for a while. The company doesn't have any more jobs lined up right now, so he is finally working on this house. He's currently putting trim around the pantry doorway and will install hardware to hang a sliding "barn" door there. The laundry room will just get trim in the doorway. I don't think it needs a door right now. Then there are two closet doors to trim out and a couple of other places where the drywall meets the logs.

I've made us a nice omelet for breakfast and now will put my boots on and do some mowing at this house. My arms are getting stronger and my shoulders too. I don't have a Fitbit anymore so I can't keep track of my steps, but I'm getting quite a few!

Happy birthday to Betsy's dh. I'm sorry he's not well, but glad he's got some time off. I hope you don't get that snow.

There are lots of transitions happening, it seems. Or maybe it's just me and Anne, with her priest moving away and my family moving in different directions.

I heard from the wife of one of the ranch partners and she has the revised document ready for our signatures. I need to print it up and read it, but if all is as it should be, we'll be good to go on June 1st. If we can get a garden fence up out there, I'll plant there and let Ben take care of it when I'm not there. I'll also be able to start getting the cabin ready to occupy and make it mine.

We have a memorial service to attend today, so I'd better get outside and get something done while I have time.

Morning! Just barely here!! I have been to the step class, took a lovely shower and washed my hair and now have a cup of tea. I think hubby wants to cut down the entertainment unit that we had used for ages--it is too high to set the big TV on it. I will have to empty it....

Terri--glad you are home! DD1 is running a 10K today--may be a bit warm. Tomorrow she does a half marathon and then a 5K--she liked the look of the medal and decided to get it--but that race starts at noon and it will be a bit warm. Glad your seeds are growing--I saw calla lilies up!

Betsy--sorry DH is sick. I haven't talked to my folks yet about the snow--Dad doesn't trust ANYONE'S predictions! And the Crazy Legs Classic is today--no snow falling in the photos but they are all dressed in sweat pants and hats/gloves. An inservice on a SATURDAY?? Good grief! I hope you get everything done that needs doing and spend some quiet time as well.

Anne--I thought you said end of this month--but might have been this weekend. So sorry that he is leaving--I know it is hard.

Cathy--there was potential for bad weather in lots of places yesterday. We sure had lots of hard rain--and some thunder. I have hinted for petunias for Mother's Day--I don't think the deer will bother them. I also like moss roses--they have some other name as well--and I don't think the deer will eat them. I have to go look. I want a few flowers.

Symphony tonight--looking forward to it!

Cathy, glad Angel feels better. Tanner only came to specials? I think with his behavior, I would walk him to the office for the specials unless he came to regular class time. I know it isn't your choice and the teacher doesn't discipline well enough. Will he go to another classroom next year or does he stay with you? Yes, DH is miserable but he is happy to be missing a special type of inservice they were going to have today , yes on a Saturday! I told him this is no way to get out of that and he agreed. DH's twin brother was born at home on the 27th and Dh was born in an ambulance on the 28th so I figure it is his birthday all weekend. We were supposed to get three to six inches of snow today but have been downgraded to one, hope that is correct. The southern half of the state is supposed to get the bigger total or more so Dianne's parents and our son are going to get hit . I hope the snow stays away until after I pick up DH's cake from his brother's bakery as that is a 40 minute drive one way. You are correct that the Catholic church is having trouble with a priest shortage, it is rare for a priest to have only one parish now. Ours does but we merged two parishes.

Anne, I had the same question as Cathy. Have a safe "run."

Dianne, have fun on your date. I checked to see who I needed to send a goodie to on the 5% team for being in the Clover Spotlight and learned it was me! Our team is doing horribly but there's hope. Apparently last week all 39 members only lost a total of around three pounds, yikes!

My day will include laundry, a Wal-Mart run, picking up the cake, menu planning and making sure DH rests. I will probably assist DD2 in selecting a gift for her father as well. I was going to go to Shopko in town but it looks like they are already empty even though they weren't going to close until June, sigh.

Terri, welcome home!

Have a Super Saturday!

Anne, how much longer will your Father be with you? Will a replacement come right away or will there be a replacement? I have heard that the Catholic Church is having trouble with their number of priests because so few are joining now. Good thing you have the kindle. I know mine is a lot easier to carry when I go on vacation.
Terri, glad you are home safe and sound. Sounds like you got a lot done.
Betsy, sorry your dh is so sick but glad he went to the doctor and took the day off instead of trying to get thru the day. He must feel miserable. But I am glad you will have a quieter weekend----but bummer it has to be his birthday weekend.
Dianne, at least you have something planned for one night---that sounds nice. We still don't need heat here although I am a bit chilly this morning--the temp reading says 72 in the house---think it is mainly damp feeling.
At least yesterday was calmer---Tanner came to specials---but not to class before hand---then he came back to the room to eat lunch, then walked out for the rest of the day. Angel seemed better---I think talking to someone helped and now she knows she will get help.
Going to be very windy here today----finally had some rain yesterday and the storms were not bad enough to cause real worry. Will go to the greenhouses this morning. We didn't go out last night because of the threat of severe weather. Nothing else planned for the weekend.

I'm home. I left Ali in Redding with my mom because she's supposed to go back over there tomorrow with her 4H group to buy their lambs. I called her dad to ask if she could stay over there instead of coming the 2 more hrs home and then another round trip tomorrow. She was happy I suggested it and he said it was fine.

The seeds I started in the dining room are sprouting, so I'm excited about that. I'll probably start some more tomorrow from some of the seeds I saved from last summer.

It's good to he home.

Terri, it sounds like you are doing fine, good to hear.

Dianne, we had to cancel plans for tonight and tomorrow night so our weekend will be quiet as well. Poor DH drove to school at 4:30 AM to write sub plans and then went to the walk in clinic. He came home with three prescriptions for bronchitis , an inhaler, a steroid and an antibiotic. As if being sick isn’t bad enough, it’s his birthday weekend, poor guy. He still has an appetite so he did enjoy the pizza meat loaf I made for supper and said he would eat meat loaf sandwiches for lunch next week.

Morning. We had to turn the heat back on--hubby was cold! It is in the 50s and I guess he isn't warm enough with his sweater. Not going to be too hot the next week or so.

Cathy--will keep Angel in prayers. I hope things are better for her and for you! Poor kid--our oldest dealt with depression--it isn't easy.

Anne--glad you are keeping busy and feeling good!

Betsy--hope today is an easy one for you. Last day of spring break around here--lots of people have been out of town--I can tell at the Y.

Terri--hope all continues to go okay for you at the canyon!

We have a quiet weekend planned--symphony Sat night and that is the only "do" on the calendar. I am going to get started on sorting photos--these are photos we took from in-laws house--I will make packets for each daughter and they can keep or toss but it will be up to them.

Cathy, I will keep Angel in my prayers, poor girl.

Anne, it is pizza meat loaf so it is just a meat loaf made with ground beef and Italian pork sausage, pizza sauce and other ingredients. Meat loaf is not my favorite but this one isn't too bad.

Michael and Mia have arrived so off I go.

Hi!
On my Kindle again. Thought that I would have had a few minutes yesterday to get on my computer while at the rectory...I have been leaving it there instead of lugging it back and forth. Good thing I had it there, Fr. B needed an address. I have a thumb drive to put them on for him, but am waiting for a couple of updated addresses. Things are going well at both jobs, PT, and home. Not sure if I mentioned this, but my DDIL has a severe case of mono and is on bed rest for 2 months. Tom will be working from home. PTL he can do that!

Cathy, fingers crossed no drama. Glad Angela could talk to you and is willing to seek additional help. Prayers for her.

Terri, make sure you do not overdo it with the canyon work! Hope lunch with Dad was delish and enjoyable!

Betsy, nice you could get the kids out. Boo to forgetting to set your timer. Meatloaf pizza...interesting!

Dianne, have you been snacking a lot? Your fasting is cutting out the in between meals snacks, which is always helpful! Hope the history job is not too far!

Time to do my PT exercises!

Anne

Anne, I bet your allergy season is just really starting to kick in. Hope meds are helping you but it sounds like they are not either. Good idea to sleep in since you had trouble getting to sleep.
Dianne, it still would not take my minutes when I tried to post the exercise minutes yesterday---so frustrating as I like doing the challenge and have minutes to add. How was your walk yesterday? Where will you be doing the History? Glad your buddy got his dentures and hope he starts eating again. I did teach a bit yesterday---teacher started it but coughing was agitated by reading to the kids so I took over. We did chameleons yesterday---pretty interesting little creatures.
Betsy, hope you get to make the meatloaf this evening. I should get dh to take out enough to make one tonight as we are finally supposed to have rain tonight---not many more days where I will want the oven on for an hour---today will be a bit cooler so it might be a good idea. I know you are glad that today is Friday.
Terri, sounds like you have been busy. Glad you took a break to have lunch with your dad..
What a day yesterday! Tanner did come back to the classroom in the morning---did fine, followed the rules, until lunch time----he was told he could not have the tablet after lunch because of the previous days' behavior---he said he would walk out ---teacher told him that would be a bad choice--he walked out. Then he wouldn't get on the bus and his mom had to be called to come get him.---what a pain he is! But our one girl Angel came in at lunch time---she had skipped school in the morning---definitely something wrong---she needed to talk and I was the choice---so off we went---very depressed and it seems to not be improving---I had to report to teacher so that we can get her some professional help---we did get her to talk to the counselor because he can get her help faster--so I believe that it has been set in progress for her to get the help she needs. Please keep Angel in your prayers---she has had such a tough life and is really a sweet girl.
Came home and did nothing---was exhausted by the emotional turmoil plus I did get a couple of laps around the track with the kids yesterday. I did take a nap before dinner. I imagine that Tanner will walk the halls again today.

Good Morning! I was posting at the same time as others so missed a couple yesterday since I had to leave abruptly.

Cathy, thanks for the Teri update. What challenge are you doing that won't let you register your numbers? I got out for another walk last night but had to guess at the time because I forgot to push the start button on my phone timer, boo. I was all set to make pizza meat loaf and have a late dinner last night after PT but DH suggested we just have quick and easy spaghetti so that's what we did. I'll make the pizza meat loaf tomorrow because al of the meat is thawed already. Tonight we will have pizza at the volunteer appreciation activity for Big Brothers/Big Sisters.

Dianne, why are you fasting? Does it have anything to do with the CROP walk? I would pass out if I did that, be careful.

Anne, my sore muscles are improving but the therapist said we should work on my back once he completes my shoulder work. It has been a busy week but it has been fantastic to get outside after work. I am looking forward to getting the children out as well but I still need a bigger stroller or an assistant to be safe, I think a stroller is more feasible.

DD2 has left for work so my first arrival should be here soon. Time for a quick breakfast. Have a great day.

PS I just saw two posts happened while I was posting. Thanks for the fasting information, Dianne, that makes sense. I did not see the hockey game, how exciting and scary. Anne and Cathy, I hope the rain washes the pollen away so you get some relief.

Morning! Yesterday was errands--but did get to see Bob and his dentures arrived!! Thank goodness. He has lost weight--the trays they sent up were not what he wanted to eat--why they even bothered to ask I don't know. Anyway--today is new glasses and a meeting of my history "job". That will start for me in May--once a week into June with a 2nd day once in awhile.

Glad things are going better, Betsy. Did you see that the captain of the Sharks took a dirty hit from the Las Vegas Knights and has a head injury? The Sharks went on to win that game (they had been down 3-0) and they won the series--the team was really made when Pav went down and they had a 5 minute major penalty so had 5 min of power play and ended up winning. DD1 is worried about him--no status released since the injury.

Cathy--don't complain too much or you'll have to teach. Better to be bored!

Anne--glad the exercises can be done "your way". I hope they keep getting easier!

Heading off for my walk! The intermittent fasting just means I have hours between--and then I eat normally--so I am not worried about passing out on my walk!

Hi all! Allergies are tough here, too! I had rough time trying to sleep last night, so I refused to get up this morning until 7:30. Got my 1st set of exercises with the band in. Now hoping the coffee will kick in. Hope to get back on later. Have a great day!

Terri did a quick post on the decluttering thread---they were in town to get fuel for the gaw mower and were hitting the thrift stores for jeans for Ali. She had already mowed most of the yard before running out the day before so things are going well.
Dianne, be careful about doing long walks when fasting, etc. Sounds like things are blooming in your neck of the road, too. Nice that they will take the bookcases for you. I am having problems in with the challenge---went to put in my minutes for Tuesday and it is just not registering---tried 2x to do it, too. It was doing that with the last challenge, too---it wouldn't accept about half my imput.
Anne, glad you got advice from the expert. How many more visits do you have with PT?
Betsy, glad you were able to get a nice walk in. Nice to have leftovers for another meal, too.
Hope everyone is behaving in your care.
Tanner didn't come to class again yesterday---but he did show up to the computer class---and stayed a whole whopping 10 minutes. Taking bets that he won't come in today either---LOL Rest of kids are doing well The teacher now has pnemonia but still coming in as she has no days left---and she is teaching---I will say I do a much better job of that and keep the kids occupied where she leaves too much open time. Oh, well, I am glad for the break but a bit bored.
Good pool workout last night. But allergies were making me a bit miserable. I hit the snooze alarm this morning and fell back asleep---highly unusual for me. So not sure how it will go today, but we might get some showers today which should help some with this darn pollen---I hope we get several good ones.

Cathy, I enjoyed your comment about drinking at that time of the morning and think Dianne will too. Wisconsin is a huge alcohol consumption state but I didn't grow up in a household that drank much at all. I clearly remember being shocked when DH and I were newlyweds attending a family wedding and the liquor was flowing freely by midmorning. The people who were late read the time on the e-mail incorrectly or they would have been on time. I wonder how the rest of us got it right? I was able to walk for nearly an hour last night and my hips/back did OK so they are improving but I will still have Bryan check them out this afternoon at PT. It's too bad Diego's chair couldn't come with extensions for you, that is miserable when the height is too low for the person pushing. Our dinner was delicious and I am very happy that we have leftover barbecued chicken, salad and apples. Burgers on the grill sound good too. I have hamburger thawed but since we just had brats and hot dogs, I think I might make a pizza meat loaf for tonight. We'll have to se when the last child leaves to see if there's time. I know you can't do this but it's too bad you couldn't just let Tanner go to show his mother and the school what a flight risk he is. The police would probably find him wandering on some road, that might wake up the teacher and his mother.
Dh normally doesn't care for traditional breakfast foods for dinner either but he suggested the omelettes!
My three girls have arrived, one is asleep, one is eating breakfast and one is playing. Off to work I go...

Betsy, glad you were able to catch up on the chats! I think your SIL is too high-strung! I can understand the frustration of those not paying enough attention to what time you should be there; I'm sure it was well announced. I sure hope your bones, joints, and muscles are feeling better today. Sounds like you will be having an exhausting week!

Cathy, those are big greenhouses! What a huge supply of plants! Any idea what the profit is on what gets sold? I think I would just continue to ignore Tanner and if there is a field trip...maybe call in sick so as to not be involved in Tanner drama! You had quite the workout yesterday! Hope those muscles cooperate today!

Dianne, any special plans come up for today?

Terri, you all must be so thrilled with how things are proceeding with the purchase of the ranch! Will you put your house on the market or rent? How far is the ranch from the house?

I managed to get 2 batches of brownies and a ham cooked yesterday before noon! One batch of brownies and the ham were done prior to heading to PT and then the rectory. The other batch of brownies were made at the rectory. I thought I had Sea Salt and Caramel brownie mix at the rectory, but all three mixes were fudge brownies. I threw walnuts in that batch. We had a nice presentation about volunteering at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of La Salette, La Salette, France last night in the parish hall. What a beautiful place! Looking at the mountains and the lush valley pictures I am amazed there are people that do not believe in God!
I asked the PT therapist about doing the exercises back to back and she was okay with it. She was also okay with doing as many of the groupings as I want...as long as I get in a minimum of 20 min/day and switch up the exercises to work the different muscles she is fine with it. She has me using a tension band now. Weights, small ball, and bands...my bedroom is going to look like a gym pretty soon, lol!
Need to shower and head to church. Have a great day!

Anne

Morning! Just a quick--I did get most of the housework done--cleaned up the bookcases that DD3 is going to get--have to take them to the friends who will leave tomorrow to go to Michigan (the house is still not listed--they are still emptying it and cleaning). Kitchen and bathrooms sparkle--and I got out my summer stuff yesterday so that is done. I even remembered to get something out for supper last night! Need to do some grill repairs before we can grill.

Betsy--the Sharks won their 4th game in overtime!! Playing Las Vegas Knights--and the Knights had been ahead 3-0 in games! So DD1 is thrilled and my brother is upset--best of both worlds! I hope you get clarity on Landon. Glad the brunch wasn't too full of drama and good for you to have not gained!

Anne--talk to PT--I sure don't know! LOL Glad you can get up and down--that is important. I am heading out for a walk/run this AM--was going to go to the Y but decided not to get up quite that early. And it is gorgeous outside.

Cathy--I would be upset a kid who just says "no" and gets no consequences--I would certainly refuse to be responsible for him! I planted my calla lilies on Sunday--they seem to be pretty hardy with temps! And I see the lilacs are in bloom--need to go pick a few. The 2 dozen roses were $12 so I felt splitting them into 1 dozen and 2 half dozens would be okay.

Hope Terry is doing okay--I understand not turning on the internet but I would have trouble! LOL

Off for my run! Well, my walk..... And I am trying the intermittent fasting--no food for at least 12 hours, aiming for 15.

Dianne

Dianne, yes, the greenhouses are very big---maybe 40 to 50 feet long and 15 to 18 feet wide at least. The third one will not be as big---not that much area left in the fenced in area---maybe a 12 by 15 one going in there---want that one for seed propegation so easier to keep warmer when smaller space. We also have a 10 by 20--approx.---cold frame, too. I think he upped total to over 200,000 plants for Spring this year. Did you get the housework done or did you go outside to play?
Anne, oops, hope you are okay but I do think you need to split up your home exercises to 2 times a day to get the proper stretches and work the muscles after working. I love breakfast for dinner occasionally---phooey to J. LOL
Betsy, she was drinking at that time of the morning? If she needs alcohol at that time to get thru a family event, there is definitely an issue. I know I dislike people who are chronic latercomers. Not fair to the rest of you either. Glad your dd1 was able to find treats that she could eat without disturbing her tummy. Hope the PT can help with your aches and pains. It is a lot more work to push someone around----I pushed Diego around the track for 2 laps yesterday and would have liked for his handle bars to be up higher---think they are set for his mother's height--and she is shorter than I am.. Then I helped DH move dirt bags yesterday after we got home with them and so my legs were protesting last night and I knew it was those 2 things that set mine off. Your dinner sounds lovely. I think Dh is going to cook burgers on the grill for tonight.
Another day of Tanner on the run---but at least he didn't walk out of our class but the other class he goes to for one period, but he wouldn't come back to ours---and his mom came to bring him cream for some rash but wouldn't take him home----I don't understand why administration didn't make him go home. I did ask what we were going to do with him if we take any field trips---I don't feel like I could trust him not to walk off from us there---the other assistant chimed in and said---His mom will have to go to watch him and if she won't come, then he doesn't come---the teacher didn't comment but she is tired of the whole thing. I knew he was going to do it by his attitude in the room earlier that day. I guess he figures since he did it before and there were no consequences, then he can keep doing it---they just don't see it ---all the phychological bull crap if just that. But I didn't let it bother me---it will bother me if he stays in the room today and nothing is done with him.
I came home and Dh wanted to go get the rest of the potting soil for the raised beds---he had to go take off recycle stuff so I started paying the bills until he got back. Then we headed to Sam's Club and then to our favorite Tuesday night Restaurant for dinner. When we got home we got the dirt unloaded and then spread in the beds. I did plant the grape tomato plant as it already has blooms on it so it needed to be in something bigger. I think I can go ahead and plant the other stuff soon, too. It is that warm and no really low temps showing in the forecast.
Have a good Wednesday!

I have finally caught up on the reading of the past several days. instead of addressing people individually I am just going to respond to everyone.

Brunch started off on the wrong foot because we were not allowed to be seated until the entire party was there and one couple thought it was at 10:30 not 10! Dsis-in-law was not pleased and went to get a cocktail immediately. After most of us had gathered they finally let us go upstairs to the "Grand Hall" about 20 minutes past our reservation. I wonder how much we threw off the rest of their day. I got to sit next to Dh's sister, Mary, the one who sent me the information on the buffet in the first place. She was happy to be there with everyone and very pleasant but wasn't pleased with her food. She is an excellent cook and her husband is a farmer so they always have farm to table food. Our server wasn't good because our dirty plates would still be there after we made another trip to the buffet. We wound up stacking them at the end of the table and I am sure that made my other sis-in-law's blood boil. Poor DD1 saw lots of food she would have loved to have but can't due to her colitis but she did find many things she could enjoy , especially the shrimp. Our BIL gave us a hard time about not visiting him way up north but I won't go there because they have a dog that attacked one of our nephews and they didn't put him down. I just laughed it off and told him I have a poor sense of direction ( truth) and told an old story about how I drove into Michigan instead of Wisconsin many years ago as the person with me slept. He was very unhappy when he woke up! Most of us wound up gathering at Dsis-in-law's home for a short time after brunch and she had a candy/dessert buffet set up, just what we didn't need. I ate one delicious black jellybean and that was it. There were probably 15 desserts at the restaurant so who needed more? I had a few pieces of candy from a candy platter DH insists we have at our house but other than that I didn't eat anything until breakfast the next day and I wasn't even very hungry yet.
It was our weekend to do something with our Little Brother but we didn't so he could be with his family and because the volunteer appreciation night is this Thursday so we'll see him at the YMCA for that.
Even after that brunch, my weight is only up .06 pounds so I should be able to drop that before our next weigh in but I may have to tell DH to get that darn candy platter out of the house!
Yes, I worked Monday, that is not a typical day off for us. It will actually be a longer week for me as Mia's mom just texted to see if she could come early tomorrow due to a meeting and because Michael will be here four days instead of three. That means I will have two very full days . Michael has a cold so hopefully he doesn't share. I have written several drafts on why Landon should go elsewhere next year but so far I haven't been able to decide on which one to give his parents. In the meantime he has had some good days so we shall see...
Did I mention we got a pair of jeans for Dh at Kohl's for $2.64? They were on clearance, we had a 30 % coupon and he had a $10 birthday gift coupon.
Our former priest was very insistent that we should attend the Triduum ( Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil) at the same church if at all possible. We decided to go to the one closest to our home for all three and missed some things we had gotten used to at DD1's church in Hudson. They did have a good choir at the Easter Vigil so that was nice. Jesus Christ is Risen Today is a must and we did sing that at the end of Mass. We missed the Stay Here and Keep Watch With Me song on Holy Thursday but that's ok.
I was mistaken, we had two baptisms, one received baptism only but the other one received the sacraments of Frist Holy Communion and Confirmation as well. Five others were confirmed into the church. One of the females chose Raphael as her saint's name and that's fine but in our family we use our confirmation names so we found that odd. I was confirmed at age 8 and the priest gave me the confirmation name of Margaret and my parents agreed. I would have chosen something else but at eight I wasn't given a choice. My sister was given Julianna at the same time and I thought that was much prettier. Oh well!
Oh, why is my body acting up so much? Who knows? Sympathy pains for Anne? It is a little better today but I went for a seven minute walk with Nellie in the baby jogger and my hips are unhappy. If my hips and back are still angry tomorrow , I know my PT will address that issue so we'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime I am trying some Yoga poses to see if that helps.
It is absolutely gorgeous outside and our flood warning has finally been lifted, hurray! Since it is so nice, DH is grilling chicken thighs for supper and I am going to go prepare the salad and fruit to go with it.

Dianne, there must have been something in the air...I had trouble falling asleep last night, too! Did you still have your headache? Since you enjoy the gym so much, maybe you should reverse the order...housework, then gym. Sorry your friend doesn't have his dentures yet. Have they actually been ordered? Did he get his hair cut by a barber? Sounds like the roses weren't all that expensive. I think they were a nice gift for the grandmother...and you and DD2!

Cathy, is there a reason you are pulling up those maple seedlings? Won't mowing the lawn take care of keeping them from becoming trees? How awesome is the income the greenhouse is making!! Is it up from last year? What kind of plants are you selling this year? Do you celebrate May Day in your area? My boss' church used to serve a May Day breakfast on the 1st, but sadly the amount of people coming decreased to a point of not making it worth holding it. She used to bring the mechanics and morning gas pumpers breakfast from it. Ahhhh! Those were the days, lol!

Betsy, does your body work like a barometer or did you do something that aggravated all those muscles and/or joints? Glad DH made dinner. I love breakfast for dinner, but Julian is not a fan. Sure hope you are feeling better!

Terri, I did get down on my hands and knees the other day at the rectory in order to get all the dust bunnies under Fr. B's bed, lol! Actually I was making sure all the shards from the broken glass that he dropped were gone when I saw the dust bunnies, lol! What did Steve use to get the moss off the house and shop? We have lichen on our fence and the shed roof and a bit on the roof by the dormer. J picked up a product that only worked just okay when he tried it on the shed. Enjoy your time in the canyon with Ali!

I am tired this morning. I had trouble falling asleep, then slept about an hour and woke again. I went to V's bed and was awake for another hour before finally falling back to sleep. I woke before J's alarm went off at 5:15, but didn't get up til 6:00. I put the ham we were going to have for Easter dinner into the oven. I was not in the mood to cook it when I got home from church, so we went out to eat on Easter. I figured since I was up and wouldn't need to head out for a couple of hours I should just go ahead and cook it. J will be surprised.
I have already done ALL the PT exercises this morning, but without any weights. I annoyed my hip getting into bed last night, so I didn't want to aggravate it more by using the weights when I wasn't a good patient over the weekend. I am going to clarify with the therapist that if I do my 5 or 6 exercises and then do them a very short time later if that would be considered 2 sets. I also want to ask if I have to do the same ones at each set per day. I think I'd like to do all the exercises (about 20 so far) per day, but spread them...if that is a good thing.
One of my upper molars is being a nudge this morning. I am hoping it is heavy sinuses putting pressure on the tooth's nerve, but I'm not so sure. I really hate the idea of a real toothache right now or any time for that matter, lol!
I think I'll go read for a bit while I wait for the ham to be ready for glazing. Have a great Tuesday!

Morning--up early cause hubby went in to work today. Didn't sleep well last night--could NOT fall asleep yet I didn't have any caffeine after my one cup of coffee at 9:30 AM. Spent time with my friend yesterday--no dentures yet. This is ridiculous but nothing I can do about it.

Betsy--hope you feel better!! It is awful to be so uncomfortable.

Cathy--WOW! Your greenhouses must be huge! I looked at plants on Saturday and ended up getting 2 dozen roses--took one dozen to the Seder for the grandmother, kept 6 and sent 6 home with DD2.

Anne--you are back to work!! I hope this week goes okay for you--I know it will be hard.

I am planning on the gym and then house work. YECH but does need to be done sometimes.

Anne, sounds like you are now back to full time working with opening up the church again. I totally understand doing the exercises on the bed---so much easier to get up from. I know how hard it is to get up from the floor. Don't overdo!
Terri, hope things are fine at the canyon and that you can pop on when you make a library visit. Will Ali need the internet to do her homework?
Dianne, miserable feeling when you wake up with a headache. Hope it went away when you were upright. I got one last night just as I was getting out of the pool---think it must have something to do with doing the exercises at the bar. I came home, barely got my suit rinsed out before collapsing on the couch to ease it off.
Betsy, what did you do to make things hurt? Hope you are still not feeling it today and that you took something for the pain. Glad no really bad drama at the brunch.
I got dressed and went out and started pulling trees and weeds---figured I would do it in small doses----I did feel better after taking the double dose of allergy meds and using the spray ---when I went back out the 2nd time, Julian was here so we got all ---well, at least for now---the trees pulled up in the back yard and we weeded the front beds---I hadn't noticed how bad they were from afar but discovered it when I went around to the side yard to break off the Joe Pye weed branches from last year. My lilac bush has lots of blooms on it now so I know that Dh can trim it back after it flowers this year. I think we filled up 6 buckets with weeds and trees. Then we all went to Denny's for lunch/dinner for us. The pool helped with the muscles after all the yard work.
Betsy, hope you enjoy that visit to the school greenhouse and that they have some things for sale. Ours are doing very well----hitting close to $10,000 in sales on Good Friday and also on Saturday. That is not a misprint, either.. I am planning on taking off May 1st for the May Day event there.
Going to be a warm day here---upper 70's. Hope you all are experiencing some nice weather.

Dianne, I barely slept last night so getting through today was tough but I did it. My hips, back and shoulder were aching so I could not get comfortable. They are still bothersome so DH made omelettes for supper and I have been deleting photos on my phone. My joints are the issue, DH is not to blame for me not catching up. I am hoping tomorrow will be better. I hope your headache is gone.

Terri, I did get to sit next to the person I hoped to at the brunch. Steve might have to double check what you pack! LOL

Anne, it IS so hard to keep up with exercises when you are feeling better but so important to keep from backsliding.

Cathy, how was your day at the greenhouse? Our local high school is having an open house at their greenhouse on May 18 so I plan to check it out and will think of you.

Morning, all! Terry--we will miss you! Glad to know the brunch was sort of drama free, Betsy. Anne--yes, get down on the floor and try the exercises--when J is home! Cathy--hope you are feeling better!

Our traditional service is 10:30--I do think the time is the draw for most people. Oh, well....I can deal with a mixed service but really prefer traditional.

I got to the Y this AM--good pool class. It was nice sleeping but I woke with a headache--don't know why. Hubby got out for a run while I was gone--so he is getting back to exercising. I need to really push--not making any headway on the weight. SIgh

Hope everyone is doing okay! Enjoy your week!

Anne, I think it's harder to keep up with exercises once you start feeling better; however, you really should practice getting down (and back up) from the floor while you have help around in case you need it. Once you're back in full swing at the rectory, you're going to want to have that mobility back--or someone else will have to do the floors!

I slept really well last night--straight through 'til 7:00! That rarely happens unless I stay up extra late (I didn't). I'm up and dressed, packed up my CPAP to travel, and am finishing up a load of laundry before I pack my clothes. I'm making a list so I don't forget anything important. Last time, I put my work boots into a bag to take down, but when I got ready to go out and mow I found out that I'd brought STEVE'S boots and not mine! Fortunately for him, it was not the ones he wears when truck driving. I had to just use my crocks and be extra careful how I stepped. This time, I'll take the boots for sure because I may have to weedeat near the creek in the rock piles.

Ali will be a huge help and is good company but not a chatterbox. She'll bring her laptop so that she can continue working on her schoolwork when we have down time. I told her that I don't have the TV or Internet on and she was fine with that. I'm not going to plant anything new down there just yet. It rained at the end of last week, but has been nice all weekend, so the grass should be dried out enough. But at this time of the year, I can't count on any more rain to keep things watered enough, so I'll wait to see how this summer goes before planting anything new. We will have to be there to nurse transplants along and I'm not sure yet WHERE we'll be this summer! LOL

Steve finished getting the moss off the house and shop and sprayed it with something to kill the rest of it. Now he's starting on the trim for the inside of the house. He'll work on that today, as he's got the day off again. I doubt he'll get much else done this week while I'm gone if they still to the 12 hr shifts. He thinks this may be the last week on this job, but can't say for sure.

Betsy, I'm glad your brunch was pleasant and fairly drama-free. Did you get to visit with those relatives that you were looking forward to seeing?

Cathy, I'm so sorry you're suffering with allergies. I have been blessed not to have them and am grateful! Steve used to get it a little bit when we first married, but hasn't had many symptoms over the years. There is one oak tree (Tan oak) that makes him sneeze and cough whenever he cuts one. There's something on the leaves, I think. It's the only tree that does that to him.

Time to change my laundry over and finish packing up. I told Ali to call me whenever she's up and awake and we'll decide when to head out. I want to leave before noon so that we have plenty of time to get some groceries and get the house opened back up. If the weather has been warm down there, the house will be stuffy.

Good morning, posting will have to wait but I just wanted to report that the brunch was drama free except for a few minor details. Mia will be here any second so I must go but I will post after work even if I have to kick DH off the computer.

Have a marvelous Monday!

Good morning!
Cathy, hope you continue to feel "dried up" and that your cold/allergies don't get worse! Will you lose the holiday pay if you call in sick the day after holiday time off. The bank I worked for did that. The heat in the church was off because we had high humidity and the temps were in the mid-60's. The church was hot. Rich opened some windows and ran the overhead exhaust fan (kind of like a whole house attic fan) which did cool the church down until all the people came in. The windows should have stayed open...or at least some of them. Fr. J said it was pretty hot on the altar. I am thinking that where Rich was it was more comfortable because he was near the front entrance, there weren't as many people in the back pews, and it is more open. We were in the wing area and it is more closed in.

Terri, good job on the shirt. Maybe you should still make the flannel one now so you will have it for next fall/winter. Nice that Jasmine will stay a couple of days with your Mom, but if you are coming home on Friday...that's really not all that long. She is quite a homebody! Though right now she probably is feeling very out of sorts because she most likely hasn't made the new house "home" yet. Safe journeys and may the canyon house not need too much tending to!

Dianne, what time was the traditional service? Sorry that it wasn't well attended. Glad you enjoyed Seder dinner with your friends. Nice that DD2 wanted to go and that they provided the special dish for her. Enjoy your quiet week!

Betsy, hope your brunch went well and there wasn't any drama!

We had a quiet, lazy Easter day. I had the eggs all peeled and the kielbasa cut up for frying before J got up. He seemed happy to have things ready when he got up, lol! I went to Mass and sold a couple of tickets to our Wine Tasting and Auction Evening...I told Fr. J afterwards that it wasn't worth trying to sell them at the Noon, since only 1 person purchased after the 9:30 and other people said they'd buy them online. Hopefully not many went online to purchase them because the way the notice on the site said "registration is closed". I will talk with the site manager about this, as well as ask her to send out an email blast to the collaborative stating the online site is up and running again and tickets are going fast! We only have about 30 tickets left to sell!

I was not good this past weekend in getting my PT exercises done. I did do a lot of walking, though...so hopefully that helped. I generally can get my morning ones in...but J is home and I do some of them in the bed. I admit...I am too lazy to go upstairs to V's bed and I am a bit frightened of getting down on the floor to do them...not sure how I'd get up yet. Guess I need to try getting down and up for the times J is home and still in bed...like right now, lol!

Time to get moving. First day of opening up the church since I the surgery. I want to make sure I get there in plenty of time for the early birds, lol!

Have a great day!

Anne, I wonder if there is a problem in that area with the heating system. That almost sounds like Carbon Monoxide poisoning. Please have them check out the system as a precaution. Did your cooking wake up J? That was a long service to attend.
Betsy, we are waiting to hear about the brunch! Do you have kids today?
Dianne, it might be the timing of the services if they have family events to go to or want to go out to eat. Around here, if they go to church on Sundays, they want early so they can still hit the beach----esp at Dh's church---they even come with their bathing suits on under t-shirts and shorts. I know I am old fashioned but what some people wear to church is disgraceful. The seder meal sounds interesting. You can find Matza bread year round now in stores, just have to look in the cracker area. I guess chocolate and caramel can make just about anything taste good----LOL
Terri, bummer that you will be gone that long, but necessary. HOpe Ali is a big help for you there. How cool that you can make your own boards there at the new homestead with the use of that saw. That might be something the guys might want to invest in---maybe even buy it from that guy if he will sell it to them. How much more stuff do they have to get out of the barn/house? NIce that you can make your own t-shirts---that way they can be long enough to cover all of you even when stretching for something. I am thankful for that new line at Walmart---Terra Sky, as their tops are all longer.
We had a nice service and I came home with 2 Easter lilies. I will plant them outside n a few weeks and every summer I will enjoy them again. My veggies I might be able to plant within a week or 2----it has been that warm around here. I spent most of the day on the couch and felt pretty miserable. I took a double dose of allergy meds last night and finally got it dried up enough to sleep. I really don't know if I will do much today, either.
I did change over my bed covering to my summer cover yesterday---the other one was just too warm. I got it washed but today I need to fold it up and store it away.
Glad for today off but have to see how I feel and decide if I want to work tomorrow or not.

All the sedar meals sound wonderful and I'm glad you've been able to attend them. It's been many years for me, but I found it to be a rich experience. Nice of them to make something special for DD2, Dianne.

I spent almost all day in the sewing room, working on getting some things buttoned up. I still wanted to make myself a flannel shirt to work in, but never got around to it and now it's getting warm. I did make myself a tshirt today from some knit with a small floral print. It's cute and fits well, so I'll use the pattern to make more when I get back from the canyon.

I'm leaving in the morning. 17-year old GD Ali is going with me, but Jasmine decided that it would be too long away from home, so she's going to spend a couple of days in Redding with my mom. She stayed with us every day for 2 years while Jenny was in school, but now she doesn't like to be away from home for long. It's probably worse because their life is all at loose ends right now because of their move to the new house. I told her she could go with me another time--summer will be here soon.

I'm fading fast and need to get to bed. I just wanted to check in one more time. I still don't have internet at the house and won't turn it back on until I know I'm going to be there long enough to justify that payment. I'll take Ali to the library and we'll get some DVDs to watch in the evenings and that will be okay.

I hope everyone has had a wonderful day. I'll check in as I am able. I'm coming back on Friday.

Hi! Happy Easter! We had 2 services--the praise band service (at 9--during Sunday School) was very full--our traditional service not so full. Makes me sad. Choir did a great job--we had our DD2 and another daughter (who didn't sing in our choir before but joins now) sing with us--sure helped to have 2 more strong voices. Then we had our Easter dinner early so DD2 could drive home before traffic got bad--ham, sweet potatoes, carrot-pineapple jello salad, asparagus and salad. (DD2 had lasagna roll-ups from the freezer.) Our weather was cooler but delightful--and I expected rain.

Anne--your altar is beautiful--we had a cross of flowers in the front--brought home my lily and hyacinths. I will end up planting those not picked up around the church--they do come back next year. I hope you are feeling lots better!!

Terri--sounds like things are going well for the ranch. Hope what you want done by them gets done. Glad you get access to your cabin right away. How far from the log house? And same hours to the canyon?

Cathy--I am glad you enjoyed your time at the greenhouse. I hope you are not getting a cold. I know it has been too warm at night--but I don't like the fan on overnight so we don't run it. Enjoy your Monday off.

Betsy--I hope the water is receding for you. My folks drove to Sparta after church for dinner with my brother. We do want an update on brunch!

The Seder last night was nice--the readings used by this family have been changed to be less of a Jewish history lesson--I had hoped for the history but it was still nice and DD2 enjoyed it. They made a quinoa dish for her--and an eggplant matzoh casserole that was wonderful--I got the recipe and now need to get some matzoh or just keep the recipe for next year. (We might try it with oyster crackers!) Ate way too much--who knew matzoh with caramel and chocolate could taste so good?

Fairly quiet week coming up--hope you all have a wonderful week!

Happy Resurrection Day!

Anne, thank you for the photo and the explanation of the blessing of the baskets. Too bad you can't have all the calories blessed out of things; but then, I guess that wouldn't really be a blessing because there would be no nourishment in it , either.

We had a very good and productive meeting yesterday and now have a document that we can all sign--or we will have once the changes are made and a new one typed up. The partners wanted something more detailed than what I had typed up after our last meeting, so they printed something off the internet and made some ammendments specific to the ranch. Yesterday, we went over their document line by line and made changes and clarifications until we were all satisfied. The document I wrote will be used as an addendum to the contract because it contained some terms that we all wanted to keep. So we should be good to go as soon as we all sign the new agreement. The kids will continue to move things out there to set up their livestock pens and shelters, and the partners will continue moving their stuff out of the barns and cabin. The lease agreement is for the whole ranch, so as of June 1st, our cabin will be available to us too. I can go in and clean and make it mine. We won't move in, but I can take some furniture out and begin to see how things will fit.

One of the partners owns a portable sawmill and will bring it from his other home to the ranch so that the men can begin to use some of the winter's windfalls to make some lumber. There are several downed trees in the surrounding area and on the ranch that are available, so we're hoping to use them for a lot of the immediate barn repairs and reconstruction projects.

There's a swimming pool that needs a fence around it, but some decking has to be replaced first. The partner who lives in the cabin had started to pour cement, but got pulled away to other projects and never finished. That will have to be one of the first things done because of the safety issues, and he has said that he will help. As long as we're in the lease, he will continue to work on things, but once we're out there, he'll have our help. We just won't have to pay for everything.

I'm not sure what Steve will get into today, but I'm going to work in the sewing room. I'm still reducing my scraps to quilt squares and would like to get the last of that done if I can. I have my bins of knit material out, so might cut out some tshirts for myself. I need some nice ones to wear this summer and all of mine are stained and now relegated to gardening and dirty work.

Tomorrow, I'll leave for the canyon to mow again. Gd Ali is going with me and possibly Jasmine. She's been waffling because she gets homesick and she knows I'll be gone all week. I'll know tonight.

I hope everyone is having a perfectly lovely Easter in all you do today.

Anne, your church looks beautiful.

Geese woke me up early today so DH and I had time to go for a 30 minute walk and now it is time to get dressed for brunch. I will comment on posts and report on brunch later today or tomorrow.

Happy Easter!

Hi all!

Cathy, glad you didn't have a whole lot of mess to clean up! I bet Howard is too! I hope you don't have a cold...maybe it's just barometric pressure or allergies. You must have sold a lot of stuff yesterday. Wish you were here...I'd have rather supported your school than the supermarket for the flowers I picked up for my bosses. I did find sunflowers for Fr. B that looked pretty...the last few bunches I saw while shopping were kind of sad looking. When will you plant the vegetables you picked up?

Terri, glad it was Steve's job's truck that broke down and not Steve's! I hope Jasmine kept her room clean for more than a minute! She must have been very happy to have your help! Nice that you picked up Aunt D and had lunch and showed her Jenny's new place! Good luck with your seeds! Hope the meeting went well!

Dianne, DD2 must have been very happy to get new pillows...and at a discount! Decent pillows are expensive! I can't remember, do the guests come at Easter or this time in April? Doesn't seem so long ago you were busy shopping for them! Good luck at finding a replacement! I, too, miss the traditional songs for Christmas and Easter. I do like some praise worship songs, but the old-timer in me would prefer to have 1 of those and 3 of the others. I'd also like quiet meditation music after Communion (at all the Masses I go to) rather than a song being sung.

Betsy, we had two young ladies come into full communion with the Catholic church. They were already Baptized, so we didn't need to have that part of the Easter Vigil service. However, Fr. J did Confirm them and they received their First Holy Communion. I hope you enjoyed the Vigil at the church you went to!

The Blessings of the Baskets is a Polish tradition. People will bring items from their Easter meal and have them blessed. It is not required. J & I pack things we will have for Easter breakfast in a good sized basket. Our basket generally has colored eggs, farmers' cheese, butter, English muffins, horseradish, kielbasa and a small container or shaker of a mix of salt and pepper. Before our Deacon started it doing it about 6 or so years ago we would bless the basket ourselves with the holy water we keep in the house. The deacon (or us when we did it) would say a thanksgiving prayer for the blessing given to us by our Lord's suffering, death, and resurrection, as well as all the food we have, the house and jobs we have. Then a request to bless the food we will partake of at Easter breakfast that is in the basket. Holy water would be sprinkled upon the basket and that would be it. Our basket is then placed in the fridge. I am waiting for J to get up to pull it out, fry some of the kielbasa, toast the English, shell the eggs, and then eat, lol! I thought he was when I posted the picture of our church...thus no notes there, lol!

Our Easter Vigil ran a little over 2.5 hours...if it started on time. (8:00 to 10:40) I did one of the 5 readings. I sat with the other readers until I did my reading and then went and sat with J. Shortly after joining J it seemed to get very warm in the church. By the time Consecration came (at least 30 minutes later) I thought I was either going to throw up or pass out. I could tell J was uncomfortable, too. I really wanted to leave...but hung in there until the 2nd verse of the recessional hymn was being sung. Then we both boogied out...very unusual for us...we usually wait til the choir is done and I usually jibber-jabber with any parishioner friends. We both went to bed with headaches and nausea. I still have the headache! Hopefully breakfast and my morning Naproxen will help!

I think I will start getting b-fast ready...maybe J will get up if he smells the kielbasa cooking, lol! I am hungry!

Have a very blessed Easter!

Lovely picture, Anne. Explain the blessing of the basket to me. Is that necessary so that you can eat before service? I don't understand why that is required either. Hope you have full services and that maybe some will get convicted to attend more regularly. Boy, you had quite the list to accomplish. Will you cook or go out today?
Betsy, I agree---nice for them to visit but nice for them to go home, too. HOpe the brunch is not too stressful. Either all the wind this winter has cleared out the branches or something because we didn't have many to clear from all the wind this week and it has been very strong. Of course, this time of year the branches are more flexible with the sap rising and them growing. Are you doing something with your Little this weekend?
Dianne, at least you got to use your coupon at Kohl's. Good luck finding someone to take your place doing the shopping for the families. Thinking you just need to say you are not doing it in order to get anyone to volunteer---and even then it might take the pastor going and asking someone to do it. Do you have the same families to ever come back?
Terri, did you get things finalized at the new place? Nice that you got Jasmine organized and moving on her room. Nice that you had lunch with Aunt D and took her to see the new home. HOw is Jenny doing with all her unpacking? Maybe Steve is waiting to do the inside stuff when it is too warm to be outside. Remind him that people shop more for new homes in the Spring and early Summer---LOL
We got busy at the greenhouses---I was there for 3 hours. I brought home our vegetable plants for the summer. I think I have a spring cold coming on---probably from needing to run the ceiling fans---seems like I always get one when fans have to come out.
No plans for today except for church. Not sure what i will cook for dinner. Might get dh to cook out on the grill.

It was the company truck that Steve drives that broke down rather than his personal truck, thank the Lord! He drove it to the coast to the Cummins shop and has to leave it there, so I went and picked him up.

We went to the garden shop and looked at plants and stuff and bought some things to start my seeds at home. Steve looked for a hoe, but didn't find what he wanted. Then we went to buy a part he needs to replace on our water system, picked up Aunt D for lunch, and then took her to Jenny's new house to see it. Jenny said that Jasmine was in her new room, putting things away but when I went up to see her, she was just playing with her toys amid all the mess. I asked her if she'd like some help putting her bed together and she did. So, we got all of that done, then I asked if she wanted to put all of her clothes in the dresser...and so it went. In about 30 minutes, we had her room together, trash tossed, dirty clothes in the hamper, clean clothes folded and put away or hung in the closet and she was a happy girl. I know it won't stay that way, but it was nice for a minute.

I planted lots of seeds last night and hope to see some growth in a week or so. Tomatoes, peppers and cucumbers are started and in a sunny window. I have more seeds at the other house and will bring them back with me next week. We have a meeting today at the ranch and hope to iron out the last details of our agreements (the kids' Lease-to-own and our eventual purchase). Steve's getting a nap in his chair before we go--LOL He's already been down at the shop, getting moss off that roof. He's done with the house now and almost finished the shop before running out of steam. That will be one thing crossed off his list and he can move on to the next. Not sure what he'll choose to work on next. I keep hoping it will be the trim in the house, but he hasn't seemed in a hurry to do that one.

Time to get moving~

Morning! We have rain today--and the church Easter egg hunt. I do not volunteer for that--did when mine were little but not any more! I did get to the gym today to exercise.

The services when I was a kid were 3 hours long--that was a LONG time but we did the hymns like "Were You There?" that I love. Didn't have many songs last night for services--3 praise songs but I don't like them much. I was glad to see there were some people attending that were not participating in the service! After, we ran to Kohls--DD2 said her foam pillows are stinky so we got her new ones with my 30% off.

I need to go weigh in--did this AM and didn't like that number so have exercised and drank some water--hoping the number has gone DOWN! Congrats, Betsy! Sounds to me like Landon is on the spectrum but I will leave it up to the professionals like you--I just hope he gets some help!

Anne--you ARE the energizer bunny! But sometimes spelling out what needs to get done helps the memory--right?

Terry--hope you and Steve have a blessed holiday--and Steve gets some rest!!

Cathy--I'd love to get into the greenhouses--I want to plant some more flowers for spring/summer but I don't want to feed the deer! The daffodils are okay and the hyacinths aren't eaten but they are nibbling my iris!

Now to shower and then hit the grocery store--I need to shop for the guests that come tomorrow--and haul everything into church and put it away for them. I also need to get someone else to take over this ministry--cause it isn't for me anymore....

Cathy, sorry your lunch wasn't as good as it should have been. How was the card game? DD1 and DH had spring breaks in March so no Easter days off except for Good Friday for DH. Our services have been wonderful with interesting sermons, full pews and great music. We will attend Easter Vigil at 8:30 tonight but we'll have to go much earlier to guarantee a seat, even earlier if DH wants the cushioned chairs in the front. DD2 has a terrible cold/cough so she will probably stay here and rest while DD1 and I shop and/or play games. DH may play games as well or he may pick up more sticks in the yard. Have fun at the greenhouse.

Anne, are you welcoming anyone into the church tonight through baptism and/or confirmation? Our home parish has two and the one we will attend tonight has three. We have never been to the one we are attending for Easter Vigil so tonight will be interesting.

Good morning all!
Going from memory (if there's any left, lol).

Cathy, what a bummer that there was too much salt in the food. We don't use a lot here and I usually do not use it in recipes or when making pasta, J will. I can actually taste the difference! Hope you have good time at the Garden Center.

Terri, sorry you got interrupted, but hope you got some things done that Steve is needed to help with! Was it his truck that broke down or the company's? Yay to bat houses! J & Tom made one with at a Massachusetts Audubon class waaaay back...Tom was probably 8 or 10. It sits in my basement, never got hung. I think J didn't want to attract them close to the house since they weren't coming there any way.

Betsy, I went to Catholic school, so it was a given that we had Good Friday and Easter Monday off. Congrats on the weight drop! Hope brunch won't upset it much! Yay to sis-in-law sounding in a better space which has alleviated some of the stress. Don't sit near her, though. Ohhh! was that the Christian thing to say. Hmmmm...maybe it's the shaking the dust off your sandals when the town didn't accept the Apostle's preaching...yeah, I like thinking it's that.

Dianne, I understand your happy on DD2's staying in the area. I do miss my kids...though I must admit I am happy when they come and then when they go. emoticon If they lived in their own homes around here I know I would be elated! Glad DD2 will be able to join in the choir for Easter Sunday! 3 hour service as a kid would be very difficult these days! Did it start at noon and end at three?

Busy day...b-fast with J, Rich, and his wife. Finish anything that wasn't done yesterday to be prepared for Holy Saturday. Take our Easter b-fast basket to the Blessings of the Baskets at 11:00. Be at the gas station for closing at 12:00 and do up the paperwork. Bring the Amazon return to the Postal Center. Go to CVS for J's Rx and a couple of Easter cards. Pop into the grocery store to see if they have any decent sunflowers for Fr. B and something else for Fr. J as token Easter gifts. Then crash for a bit before heading up to church for the Easter Vigil. Craaazy! But what else is new, lol!

Have a safe Holy Saturday!

Terrri, glad Steve got off early but bummer that it took you away from posting.
Anne, great post!
Dianne, nice that your dd2 can practice the Easter Song with the choir before Sunday. What are you singing? I miss some of the traditional Easter hymns but we might do one---sometimes she will throw one in. How was singing at the home? I know you are happy that she isn't going further away but kind of a bummer since she was interested in that position.
Betsy, You can eat Brunch and then choose not to eat for the rest of the day, then you should be okay. My lunch yesterday was way too salty---highly unusual for a restaurant---thinking someone mistook an ingredient or something. The soup was salty---broccoli and cheddar --then I had a chicken sandwich and I ended up scrapping off most of the coating and only eating the chicken itself. But that meal made me thirsty for the rest of the day. Finally at night, I rinsed out my mouth several times and that seemed to help. Does your dd1's school have off next week or did they have a Spring break earlier? We only have off Friday and Monday and we didn't have off any other time---at least the teachers haven't. When we go back we don't have another scheduled break until Memorial Day---so I know a lot of teachers will make a long weekend and I am thinking I might do the same thing. Any plans for today? How were your services? Dh enjoyed his and he got to see Michael at work---he was installing new sound equipment at the church so he stayed around and watched him work---said he was glad that Michael knew what he was doing because he sure didn't ---LOL
Major rain last night---I was glad for that because my car was green from all the pollen. I did finish up the one bed of trees---until the next batch starts growing. But tons of them are around the yard, too.
Heading to the greenhouses this morning.

Thank you to everyone for the congratulations on the weight loss. The trick now as we all know is to keep it off and that is going to be interesting with the Easter brunch on Sunday. Oh well, at least I will have a week to take off any excess ( I hope!)

Dianne, we were SHOCKED when we discovered DD1 had to work today, none of us in the teaching field in this family have ever attended or taught school on this sacred day. The snow is almost gone but we are under another flood warning until eleven PM, sigh. As strange as it sounds, congratulations on DD2 not getting the job, it just wasn't meant to be. As an Episcopalian, we also had the service from noon to three and EVERY business closed, not like today.

Cathy,DD2 doesn't have to work today, DD1 does. She has never been in school on a Good Friday before so this is very odd to us. Around here having school open on Good Friday is equivalent to school being open on Easter Sunday! We haven't heard from DS but he isn't a teacher so I am sure he is working somewhere. Enjoy your lunch and your poker game. If I have the time and am interested in the store, I love browsing but my kids hate it. I'll shop with you any time you like. Good for you and Diego with the frog song! Landon responds well to music too. I am still not convinced he isn't on the spectrum but his therapist doesn't think so. On the other hand, she thinks Dane, the older brother is and I don't. The book you read sounds like a title for children, glad you enjoyed it.

Terri, it was good to hear of your confidence in bat houses. DD2 was bothered terribly by bats in the winter of 2018 but not this year. If they ever come back, we will definitely try bat houses before paying a ridiculous fee to a pest control company. Congratulations on paying off a mortgage in half the time, that's amazing!

Anne, there was a woman at church last night who served many roles and reminded me of you. I wanted to stop her and ask if she worked at a gas station! Did you find your lamb butter?

Off to church...

Morning! Congrats to Betsy on the weight loss. I am retaining water today--the scale was WAY up and my rings are tight. I hope you enjoy your time off--you will still be busy!!

Cathy--we have lovely warm weather today--but are expecting rain for Easter--maybe LOTS of rain. I have one bud on iris but no blooms yet. I am thinking I will put my calla lilies in soon--I know they are sprouting in the basement. I don't think we are going to color any eggs--DD2 doesn't seem to care so easier for me!

Terry--good for you to rehome the bats. We really need them and they get such poor treatment. I expect they will figure out the bat houses with no trouble. DD2 did hear that she did NOT get the job in Missouri--someone else did have more experience and they went with that. She is learning and will push her boss to help her get more training. (I really didn't want her to go to Missouri--at least not right now.)

Anne--thank you for the reminder. We have services tonight--we used to have a very moving service but this pastor doesn't go for that style. Growing up, we had a 3 hour service on Friday afternoon--I admit I don't miss that one.

We got laundry done yesterday and went out for supper. I go to the home today to sing and then we have service at 6:30 (and choir practice beforehand for Easter). I got out for a run/walk this AM--that was nice.

Amen to Anne's post. I was thrilled to sleep until 7:22 today and even more thrilled to see the scale went down.02 points from last week's weigh in. DD1's sheets and all the day care sheets, bibs, towels and blankets are in the wash and jeans will be next. We attended Holy Thursday Mass at St. Bronislava as DD2 has been attending there and wanted us to join her. We will go there again for Good Friday at 12:30 but DD1 may have an opinion on where we go for Easter Vigil as she is a traditionalist and likes her own church where she was raised. That said, we have a new priest who speaks very slowly so we'll see.
Dear sis-in-law called to get a confirmation on how many would be attending brunch and seemed to be in good spirits so our dread on going has lessened. emoticon
I will comment back to earlier posts later today as right now I have urgent matters to attend at our credit union and the DMV if I am lucky enough to find either one open.

Betsy, congrats on the weight loss and being at the top of the list.
Anne, Holy week does have a lot in it, even more for you. Can't they just order new cloths? I do love to browse---don't understand you ladies not wanting to do that---LOL--never know what you will find if you just look. It sounds like you are full swing back to work---were you approved by the doctor? I hope you take time to do those services and aren't too tired. I would love to have J's skills in woodwork in my dh's body---LOL---so I would be good to go on the mix----heehee.
Dianne, sounds like you have caught up with your rest. I think you are still feeling the loss of your friend so it's alright to be sad at times. I am sure you can find something to do with your dd. Nice to enjoy the azaleas on someone else's property. They are pretty when they are in bloom. How are your iris doing. I have just the one blooming but buds on some others so I might have more open today. The tulips won't last much longer as it was too warm and very windy yesterday and today. Are they talking about the chance for really bad weather up your way, too? I guess we are all a bit concerned around here because of the tornado earlier this week.
Terri, does it feel weird not to have your table? Glad Steve has Saturday off and got off a bit early. Woohoo to paying off the house 15 years early. I am hoping to at least knock a few years off of ours by sending some extra on the principal each payment. Just can't afford to send more but it feels good to watch that number drop on the balance each month. Hope those bats cooperate and move into the bat houses. Do you want to move some of them to the meadow? They might be useful there with the bugs.
Adding minutes to each day might not seem like much, but more learning occurs now rather than at the end of the year when they add days as the teachers and the kids stop learning right about Memorial Day. I know our teachers are getting burned out now and need this break but we all need a bit longer than 2 days.
Yesterday went okay---I got a book at the library called "The Dancing Pancake"---it was a cute story and I had so much free time that I was finished with it by lunch time---LOL The kids dyed eggs---one interesting way was to add the food coloring to rice in a ziploc bag and the kids moved the eggs all around in the bag. It really worked and a lot less work, too. We did an egg hunt in the afternoon---oh, my, I know my kids are challenged, but----each kid had a different color to find---and half the time we were having to point out where there were some in certain colors. They had snacks when we came in and then got them ready to go home.
I have a lunch with Red Hats today and then go to play Polish poker afterwards. Looking forward to that.

Yay Betsy!!! Good for you!

I've been puttering around here all day and have crossed a few things off my list, but still have more to do. Steve came home early, as the truck broke down and he might have to take it to the coast tomorrow to be worked on. He has Saturday off because of Easter, so I'm thrilled about that. We have another meeting with the partners this weekend to hammer out a few more details per our agreement. Hopefully, this will get things buttoned up.

This greenhouse won't last more than a few years, so I'll probably set it up at the ranch while I make plans for the one I want to build permanently. DS2 and I are like minded and want one with a stone perimeter and some old windows. But that will have to come after a few other construction projects. Meanwhile, I've decided to start some seeds in a sunny window in the dining room. Jenny is taking my table and chairs so I'll have room, and the house won't be ready to sell for a while, so I might be able to get some plants started before I have to get ready to let people in. I'll only need a few weeks and then can move them outside to a sheltered place. By then, I should have an idea where I want to put most of my garden this year.

I need some bat houses built so I can set them up and get the bats out of my house! Steve is going to seal up some holes where they're getting into the ceiling, but I want to have some boxes up for them to go into when he blocks their access to the house. He'll do it at night after they fly out, so they won't be able to get back in when they come back at dawn. There are some places in the logs that need chinking and some vents in the roof that need screens. Having some bat houses up ahead of time might encourage them to take up residence there.

I paid 2 extra principal payments on our mortgage this month and that will allow our next automatic payment to be our last. I hesitated to do it since we have things we need to do that are going to cost $$ but I couldn't resist since the payoff was so close. It would've been paid off in August if I just let it continue with the automatic payments every month, but I wanted to be done with it. So our May 1st payment will be our last! That's a 30 year loan paid off in 15 years and I have to tell you that it feels good.
