Morning. We had SUCH a thunderstorm last night--really loud with lots of rain. Looks grey today but not raining--and roads look bad so I will be leaving early enough to have an hour available....

Anne--good luck with the gas. It isn't YOU that is off--it is the process that has been set up. Can't pump gas if the computer isn't working--or they need to write a bunch of stuff down! Glad the kids were able to help.

Cathy--glad you are there to teach the kids!

Terri--safe travels.

Betsy--no news likely means you are BUSY!

We went to a talk about social security and Medicare last night. I don't want to think about it but...yeah, that is coming. I think now I understand what my mom had done--gone to a Medicare Advantage plan that is less expensive--didn't understand before. That was our big "date night"! LOL

Off to the school soon--go tomorrow, too. Catch you later!

Anne, you were an early bird today. sounds like a lot of the hard work was done by those kids---I know you were glad to get that kind of help. How old is V;s dd now? I am sure she will be very happy when it comes even if it is late---actually, by then she will be ready for something new. How did the basket making go? I heard the Game of Thrones was pretty gorey in the last episode with one more to go---glad I do not watch it as it sounds too confusing.
Terri, hope you get that satelite up and running before you move there! Glad you will have some good help with the work at the canyon---good luck keeping those 2 males fueled up to work. LOL Glad Rosie is feeling better and hope Steve can get the pills in her. Have you ever tried the pill pockets to give them to her? That does work well with dogs, not so much with cats as they are smarter and learn that the pill is in it---LOL
Dianne, hope you have good groups and not much traffic since you can leave early. I have to teach today as the teacher is going on a field trip with her son---but she has to work without pay as she has no days left. Crazy! The kids will learn more today, for sure!
Interesting talk on providing homes and food for birds. I still won't put any bird seeds out but do provide homes and natural foods they can dine on---I am okay with that----but not sure about providing them water---too much work keeping that clean.
Tonight is my dinner night with Michael and his gf. This is the 2nd family event he has brought her to.

Good morning! I have been awake for over an hour and finally decided to heck with it, get up. I will get dressed once J's alarm goes off. The paperwork since Monday has been off. Monday because they pumped without information being sent over to the computer...like, duh, hello! How am I supposed to figure out how many gallons were sold and at what cost! Yesterday, things seemed normal on the printouts from the computer (something that was not normal on Monday), but I was $170 short. I am hoping it was a changeover screw up or that I missed a few house charges or inside credit card sales. If this is going to be the new norm...I do not want any part of it. I'm also trying to figure out how to get all the donations listed into the booklet. There are so many now we are going to create baskets up and group some of them. I picked up the baskets Monday and yesterday. After I finish at the gas station I am going to come home and see if any of the ones I picked up yesterday will work for the Game of Thrones wine, glasses, and fancy corkscrew. I am not really that good with this kind of thing. I hope I have enough supplies and that people do not open or take tags off things that we do not need to use so I can return unused items. The items I purchased at Michaels was much more expensive than those I picked up at A.C. Moore. I will also check the receipts and compare some of the costs of similar items. I may just bring the less expensive items to tonight's meeting, leaving the more expensive ones in my car and retrieve if needed.

Today is V's daughter's birthday. I thought I was being good last week and asked V what Kat could use. V was delayed in getting me some info and never put anything onto Amazon. Did I ever order anything that she texted me...NOOOO!!! What a rotten grandmother!!! That is my next task and then I will text V to let Kat know a gift is in the mail. I hate when I don't just do something and be done with it!

J's alarm is going off, so I'm going to get ready for work.

Have a great hump day!

Tx everyone for agreeing with my frustration with the secretaries. Things went well with the Scouts getting that corner cleared. Today the CIA (Catholic’s in Action) our teen youth group will take some of the furniture & books down...better then than me!

Cathy glad they caught that gangsta! Hope they can prosecute...state & federal! Glad Michael can make Birthday & Mother’s Day time for you.

Dianne, hope you do not catch what Bob has! Computers suck time away...it is crazy how they do that to us!

Terri, sorry Rosie can not make the trip, but glad Steve is able to get those pills into her! Hope the boys have a good time and are very helpful!

Betsy, poor DD2...she seems to always fantasize on the wrong for her man! I sure hope she does not see Malachi ever again! Drinking and physical abuse are not for her, or anyone for that matter! Though a Gibbs slap can be useful, lol!

Time to get back to work! Have a good night!

Hello! Today was a bit topsy tervy--I didn't go to the gym, I spent too much time on the computer. Then I had a massage--our favorite therapist left so I am trying to find a new one--this one won't be it. Did the grocery shopping and then stopped to see Bob--he wasn't feeling well yesterday and still isn't 100%. I won't be there the next 2 days--have to work.

Anne--you are much nicer than I am--I would have told the secretaries that THEY now needed to get that section emptied since they were so worried about it! Just do what you need to and say--sorry--I had to finish when I had time/help. It had already been here for 7 years. Hugs to you!

Terri--guess you will be busy! Good luck feeding them!! I am sorry that Rosie isn't able to go so glad you have 2 strong young me around. Sounds like Steve is keeping himself busy.

Cathy--glad they caught the instigator for the bomb threat. Those gang people are not usually the sharpest tacks....I hope she is not allowed back in the school again. Glad you got a good workout on your own. We get out of it what we put in and I really try to push!

Betsy--good luck with your craft. I reminded 2 of the 3 daughters that Sunday is Mother's Day--I want them to call their grandmother. I did tell them no flowers for me--I have lots right now. I hope you can figure out doctors--that is the kind of thing I am worried about for retirement. Guess we'll move as well so will need to find but....we need some way that will let us see pretty much any doctor and pay a reasonable rate/co-pay. (Sort of like Canada and England and Japan and Germany and....)

So I teach tomorrow and Thursday--don't have to b there till 9:30 so leave here about 8:35 and I should make it okay. I think I get to do the farmhouse tomorrow. Tonight we are going to a talk about social security and when to/how to apply. Hubby will be 63 in July so we need to make sure we know the whens!

I've been waking up since 4 am but my body was still tired so I stayed in bed as long as I could. I was hot and kept having to put a leg out of the covers to cool off. Apparently Steve was too, because when I got up I noticed that he had the covers off. I hope that's not a sign of things to come with our weather. I'm not ready for that kind of heat.

Cathy, I kept forgetting to answer your question about the internet access at the ranch. We'll have to get a satellite dish for both internet and TV, just like we do at both the other houses.

Rosie is far too gimpy to go with me. Steve will give her the pills now that we've seen such improvements in her. He was preparing to have to put her down and now she's getting back to her old self. Yesterday, he just put them in some canned food, expecting her to gobble it up; but she's not a foodie and only eats once a day. I gave him a stern talk about how she HAS to have her meds TWICE a day, 12 hrs apart no matter how hard it is to get them down her. So this morning, he did it first thing, while she was laying on her bed. I helped, but I could've done it by myself so I think he has a better idea of how to approach it. One pill wouldn't be bad, but there are 4 of them. He'll do it.

Today, he'll put the fascia boards in the living room and be done with the inside trim. So far, we haven't had to buy any wood. There are a couple of places upstairs where the pre-fab trim was broken (from when the kids were living here). He'll just buy more of the same stuff to fix that and will probably do that before he moves on to another project. I'm not sure which direction will be next. There's a local craftsman that did some work on Jenny's house and we'd like to get him up here to look at the big jobs to get his feedback and maybe a bid if he's interested in doing the work.

Anne, I can feel your frustration and sadness over all you're dealing with. To see something you loved and worked so hard on just tossed into the trash is gut wrenching--and that, on top of losing your beloved Father is a lot to deal with. It sounds like the secretaries feel as though they're doing you a favor by taking the fabric at all. You know that I'd be hard pressed to toss any good fabric into a dumpster, but those ladies need to get a clue for what you're dealing with and be more help. Tell them to take it all and go through it at their leisure and dispose of what they can't use. You can't do it.

I'd like to respond more, but I need to get packed up and get the boys moving. I ended up with two big, strong young men for this trip so we're all happy. Pablo and Tim are the eldest grandsons and are best friends. They don't get to see each other as much as they're used to now that Jenny's family has moved and they've gone to school together and been pals all their lives. So they were both happy to go with me on this trip and the work will be a lot more fun for them as they work together. All I have to do is feed them! LOL

Anne, put that stuff in a spot by the door and tell the lady she has until a certain date to pick it up, otherwise it is going in the dumpster. Then do it! Honestly, that is like asking someone to hold on to something when you know you all are moving and need it gone instead of in the way. I hope you enjoyed the tulip farm. were they in bloom? Mine are long gone but we have much warmer weather down here. I am just waiting for them to get browner so I can cut them back and plant my vinca---it does look messy out there at the moment---not something I like but the green needs to go so that the bulbs get their food for next year's blooms. Is your avatar a picture of the farm? Did you get all your errands run?
Betsy, honestly, your dd2 has some real dream issues! Now she wants a priest---doesn't she know that he would be different if not a priest? She can say no to Malachi, too. I wish for your sake that she could find a real man to care for her just so your drama would end in that department. Hope your Dh does okay with the inhaler and going back to work. Yes, I should be able to keep my insurance ---they will pay for 70% of the cost so I am not sure how much it will be---but cannot afford to keep Dh on it and not sure if I would be eligible for it. I figure it might take all of my pension as it is to pay insurance bills. So hard when doctors leave to find another one. I know I need to find a primary one myself.
Dianne, that sounds like a good workout---the ones talking probably weren't pushing themselves. Our leader was back and it was a horrible workout last night---She was too busy talking to watch the time and towards the end I just started watching my own time on exercises so that I could get out in time for dh to pick me up---he was told by a therapist to wait another week with his foot. I went early so I could get out early. I think I did better on my own than actual class time. We were cooler yesterday and it really felt like Spring.
Terri, did you get the desk loaded and delivered? What task will Steve tackle next? Did you tell him that everyone likes the barn door? How is Rosie? Are you taking her to the canyon or will Steve give her the meds?
Thankfully, it was uneventful at school yesterday. It was a 7th grade girl that called it in---they got the evidence on her. She is one of our really bad students---a gang leader, too. Talk about dumb!
Michael texted me last night--he is taking us out for dinner on Wednesday night for my birthday and Mother's Day---guessing he is working the whole weekend. And Ashlie is coming, too. Wonder if he has something to tell us?
Master Gardener meeting tonight so I don't have to cook tonight.

Anne, emoticon and this is for your secretary... emoticon , emoticon .
DH is dependent on the walk-in clinic right now because his primary doctor left and there's only one internist. DH's appointment to establish was made months ago and it will be in June between jobs. We need to get a primary for DD2 as well because hers left too.

Cathy, you only mentioned needing to find insurance for DH upon your retirement so does that mean you are blessed with insurance as part of your retirement package? The friends we had lunch with were married last summer, I have known her for thirty years but we never did things as couples until she married husband two and it is quite nice.

Terri, Malachi is in the military but apparently he is coming back sometime this month and DD2 is worried he will want to get together since they are supposed to be friends. After she told me that he used to drink too much and then spank her, I told her to stay away from him!She used the drinking as an excuse and I told her there is never an excuse for him to hit her!
DS hasn't asked us for any money since he was in Brooklyn and yes, he paid that back and will pay this back as well.

Dianne, yes it is rainy and cool, frustrating that we can't get outside to play. DS is acting as manager of a bodega while the owner opens up a gas station and he is also working at a photography studio. He promised a visit on Sunday, May 19 so we should know more about his duties at that time.

Let's see, I already mentioned the crush DD2 has on the priest and it's bad, I am glad he was reassigned because she needs to move on. She has a meeting scheduled with him and is fantasizing about the one on one time, good grief! Yes, Anne, she knows he is married to the church but sadly she knows of other priests who have left the priesthood and thinks he might too. As far as insurance goes, we met with an agent free of charge for over an hour yesterday and when we left my head was spinning. DD2 needs specialists that work in different places and according to our agent, they won't " play nice with each other" in the Marketplace so we are forced to choose the most important doctor and most likely lose the others and start over, sigh. emoticon

Dela chose the Mothers Day craft and it shouldn't be too difficult but we'll see. It involves tracing handprints and a footprint, assembling them into a flower with a stem and adhering a photo of each child in the center of the handprints. I will write, " I love you from the top of my head to the tip of my toes " at the top of the paper. I wanted Dela to finish hers today but she fell asleep so that didn't happen.

Have a nice night. I am going to see if Dh is still awake and fold some laundry.

Terri, glad you have a helper when you go to the canyon. Hope that tool works! Are you taking the fence posts and fencing to the ranch? Good luck with the succulents...I don't do so well with them.

Dianne, we had the sun come out about an hour or so ago! It looks and feels delightful! Glad you made it on time to the concert. Enjoy your visit with Bob!

Betsy, it is sad when a priest you like is transferred. I hope you will get a replacement. Remind DD2 that despite her crush...he is already married!

We have 13 men being ordained later this month and 7 last year and 8 the year before. I have not paid attention to the poster in the church lately to see how many are supposed to be ordained next year. The Call is out there, but I wonder how many aren't answering. At Fr. B's last 4:00 Mass his friend came...he was a late vocation...had a wife and family and grandkids. He answered the Call a while after his wife passed. I only met him for a brief time, but he seemed very nice.

I am going to see if I can get my hair cut and then head to the gas station. I will be going to the rectory afterwards to supervise the Scouts as they clear that corner of the basement that Fr. B's stuff is going to. I thought they were going to be doing it around 6, but instead they are going to have their meeting first, then come over...that means 7:45 tonight...boooo! In the meantime, I also got a call from the secretary at my rectory saying that a friend of hers could come this morning to see what we had available...she would like to see if there's anything she can use in for her Christmas crafting. I told the secretary to have her reach out to me and let me know what she is looking for since I was already on my way to the tulip farm. Later I got a text from the secretary at our other rectory saying she got a call from our secretary about the stuff. The other rectory's secretary said the Christmas fair people there probably could use some of the stuff...put it aside for her and she'll get it later in the week. What the heck! That dang stuff has been there 7 or 8 years collecting dust and now that I just want to toss it in the dumpster and not even go through it I have people wanting some! If something strikes me, then I'll put it aside, otherwise...dumpster!!! I am not working any harder on this. Both the move and the dumping of Christmas Village stuff cut me deep emotionally and I am trying to keep it together in front of everyone. (I was co-chair and worked my butt off, as did my kids and J, with Christmas Village.) I have to admit...right now I'd like to punch our secretary! Adding more work to my plate, grrrrr!

Off I go! Have a great rest of your day!

I'm going to go down to the garden shop and get some cactus soil to plant my new succulents (thanks for the advice, Cathy). DIL1 gave me two overgrown pots to play with and I have some hollow log rounds to plant them in. Steve says he needs some more stain, too.

Steve is cutting the last length of trim for the kitchen wall and will be done with that stuff. He's been making all the trim himself from 1"×12" boards that we've had stored under the house all these years. They were milled by an acquaintance of ours from trees grown near the ranch. The last two boards will make a fascia to finish a section in the living room where we'd originally planned to build a bench. We have a sofa in front of it now, so it doesn't show, but it will need to be pretty now that it's for someone else.

I'm hoping that my gs can come over and help move the desk this morning before it gets warm. He's going to go with me to the canyon this time and will be pulling out fence posts if he's able. We're taking his dad's tool for that job. I just hope the dirt is still soft enough from recent rain.

Is Malachi back in the picture, Betsy? I'm glad J has his Rx now and should be getting better, but I'm not surprised that he won't slow down. I know you'll come up with a cute craft for your moms.

I'm glad you made it to the concert in time, Dianne. I know how proud you are to see your girls perform. I loved watching my two dance when they were doing ballet and tap. Prayers continue for your friends dealing with their loss.

I hope Anne's packing and storage is progressing well. It sounds like things around here when one project is held up because another one has to be done first. There will be some serious spring cleaning going on from the sound of it.

Morning! We finally have a nice day--sunshine and reasonable temps but still below average. I got out to the gym--great water workout.

The concert was superb! The biggest piece they did was Carmina Burana--I don't think I had ever heard more than the first bit. It was really something. Only issue--we didn't leave till 2, it was raining and I didn't think we'd get there in time--1 hour, 54 minute drive according to the GPS and it started at 4. We walked into the church at 3:59. MUCH closer than I like. But DD2 was glad to see us, sang beautifully with the group and we enjoyed the music very much. Went out to dinner after--I got a small salad, hubby got a chicken sandwich and we split them. Just enough food.

Terri--the barn door looks great. DD3 actually had that on her en suite bathroom in college--don't need to worry about the swing of the door. We could do that on our bathroom.....hmmm. Glad Rosie is doing better.

Betsy--sorry your parish is losing a good priest. There is certainly a lack of men going into the priesthood. I know your weather still talks about rain, rain and more rain! Hang in there!

Anne--I don't like casinos--I do believe I could get "hooked" on gambling so don't do it. We buy a lottery ticket when it is a BIG jackpot but that is all. Glad you didn't lose more than you had planned.

Cathy--we had fog warnings the last couple of days--I thought of you! Didn't impact school--they just said "be careful" and I didn't see any sign of fog when I went out. You might have enjoyed today's workout in the pool--30 seconds of an exercise, then 30 seconds of water running, 30 of another exercise, 30 seconds water running, etc--we did that for 9 minutes. She did swap water running for 2 other things--it really was tough! (At least for me--some people just kept talking all the time!)

Not sure what is on today's agenda but I expect to go over to see Bob. I do work 2 days this week--school groups and we actually have another place this week so that is why I have 2 days. Have a great Monday!

Anne, it sounds like you have a wonderful day ahead of you, enjoy every second. The very young, energetic good looking priest at the church DD2 has been attending announced yesterday that he has been assigned to another parish. DD2 is devastated because she had quite the crush on him. Anyhow, that announcement made me think of you.

Cathy, the pharmacy will call to tell you your order is ready but there was no need since we had already picked up our order. Remember they gave us the wrong thing and told us we needed to call the clinic. Somebody goofed up and wanted to cover their backside! I wonder if somebody else needed the nebulizer solution and couldn't get it. Oh well, it is over now. Yes, DH is at school although I told him staying home for a day of rest would be beneficial. The pressure is on both of us to get out a cute Mothers Day craft and with all of the other craziness of the weekend, I haven't even started on that yet, sigh. I am leaning towards something to do with photos since so many of them are so young. I'll figure it out.

Terri, I agree the barn door looks wonderful. Mia has just arrived so off I go...

Good morning!

Betsy, glad dh went to walk-in...but shame on pharmacy for creating such a mess in the first place! I would definitely take it to the manager or corporate! Did he go to work today?

Cathy, I find slots now more difficult to follow on how I won or didn't win. It was easy when they were single, triple, or quintuple lines...now there are so many lines that your penny machine can cost you a fortune real quick! Glad the rain held off when you were out! Hope there is no drama today!

Going to Kohl's to pick up an order, stopping at Michaels to see if they have baskets for the grouped auction items, including my wine item, and then back home to wait to be picked up by my gf. We are going to the tulip farm (gray and overcast again this year) and then lunch afterwards. Also will be stopping at the rectory to drop something off as I head to Kohl's.

Have a good Monday!

Anne, I don't like casinos---no one will explain things and just not fun. The one time I went with my mom---in Cherokee, NC, where my sister lived---I spent 75 cents and called it quits---figured I drank more than that in soda. I kept to the non-smoking section, the other section was much larger and so smoke filled that I could not go near it. I would tell J that he has this much money to spend and if he blows it all, that is it! I know my friend Joy and her dh would go---but he could afford to lose money. I think he enjoyed it much more than she did. Did you have nachos and cheese? I didn't have anything Mexican yesterday although I do like some stuff---but didn't want to go out of the house as it was a very rainy day here. We watched 5 Star Wars movies on Saturday and one yesterday before switching to something else.
Dianne, bet the grandparents had something to do with that ---we don't baptize children unless they have made their own decision but do dedicate children---some people are not involved in church when they are babies and realize later on the need for this. I know my mom did not get me baptized as a baby which bothered my grandmother---Methodists do the sprinkle as baptism--so my grandmother arranged a home service when I was older---several of us were done at her house by the pastor--I think 4 of us--all at different ages in the group. How was the concert?
Betsy, doesn't your pharmacy call you when you have a prescription ready? Boy, CVS does and calls and annoys me to get another prescription---they offer to call my doctor to get another script--which makes me mad---LOL Glad he got it and glad the walk-in place realized that he really really needed that.
Terri, Steve did a fantastic job on that barn door. That will definitely catch buyer's eye and be a plus for a sale. Glad Rosie is feeling better already. I bet you are really glad the cat went into hiding!
Back to work this week. Found where i hit my birth certificate so I need to start the work to get a passport. But which one should I get----I don't understand the differences between a big book and a small one and then there is a card?
Turned off the ac yesterday---what a rainy day! Glad to stay inside. It really poured while I was in Church, stopped when I came out for my drive home, then started in later on as a steady rain. I don't think Nascar raced yesterday---it was the Monster Mile in Dover, Delaware this weekend. Didn't catch why they disqualified the winner of the Kentucky Derby.
Back to work---hope no drama today.

It has been a long day but I wanted to fill you in on one thing. DH volunteered to go to the walk in clinic after Mass. We went, explained what happened and they happily ordered an inhaler for him! We went right to the pharmacy and they told us the albuterol has been there for him since LAST Friday, you know the day they didn't give it to him and the clinic said we couldn't have it, GRRRR. Oh well, he has that one now and another order on file.

Tomorrow I will tell you about Malachi, a priest and insurance in addition to catching up.

Here it is! Hard to get a full photo in the hallway, but this was the best angle, I think:

Rosie's still limping, but is noticeably better after just one day of antibiotics and pain medicine.

Terri, looking forward to some pictures! I usually just give him his money and let him do his thing. I did not let him talk me into giving him any actual cash from me...I brought home all but the $20 and the $25 I spent. He, like all gamblers, expect the next bet (whether it is lottery, sports, cards, slots or whatever) will be the "big one"!

Dianne, glad your Mexican dish was tasty! Sorry the young girl being Baptized looked as though she was receiving her First Communion like Catholics, Lutherans, and other churches that have similar traditions to the Catholic churches. I will definitely continue to keep Vicki and Lizzie in my thoughts and prayers.

I can not believe how quickly today has gone by. We really didn't do much and the next thing we knew it was dinner time! Now I'm going to get ready for bed and veg out in front of the TV.

Have a good night!

Oh dear, Betsy! That's a horrible communication mix-up and neither of them are working to fix it so that the PATIENT gets what he needs! I'd be furious too and probably on the phone rattling cages. DS doesn't hit you up for money very often, does he? Is he good about paying it back? I hope things with K are settled and calm soon and that she's not getting herself into another sticky situation. I don't blame you for going out with friends--to a bar! LOL

Anne, you clearly have to keep Julian on a tight leash when at the casino. Your winnings could've paid for dinner had he not given them back to the house. I like playing cards and other games, but have a very hard time putting money in a machine or betting at cards. I can have fun just keeping score. Losing money is not fun for me. I'm glad you had some play time, though. You work so hard for everyone else that you need to do things that relax you. That was a thoughtful May the 4th gift for the Father.

Steve is putting the finishing touches on the pantry door after having had to make a few adjustments. I'll try to get a photo of it if he gets it back up here before I post this. We haven't received the handle yet. It should've come with the rail and other hardware, but we haven't seen it yet.

We don't celebrate Mexican Independence day, but any excuse for Mexican food is fine with me! Maybe I'll suggest that to Steve for dinner as we do have a good Mexican restaurant in town. But I'm not sure I could find anything that's low carb--and the chips & salsa might prove too tempting.

Hi, all! We had Mexican for lunch--leftovers from the other day when I "created" a dish. It turned out pretty good--and was mostly vegetarian so good for us. We had church--there was a baptism at the early service that was sort of treated as a first communion--she had a white dress and veil--about 2nd or 3rd grade. Sigh--I don't mind that the Catholics do a big deal of first communion but it isn't like that for our church. Oh, well--glad I don't have to answer the kids/ questions about "why didn't I get to do that?" Choir sang and we did a great job--if I can say so!

We head up to NY for DD2's concert but hubby has church meeting first. At least he is only on one committee--there are 3 meetings--noon, 1:00 and 2:00--it does get them over with and on schedule but....

Terry--glad Rosie got the meds! Hope she is much better!

Anne--sorry DH didn't quit--I don't like casinos for just that reason. It would have cost you close to $30 for the paper and ink alone--glad you bought!

Cathy--we watched a tiny bit of one Star Wars movie--but stopped to watch the Derby. Not sure if they made the right call or not--I do feel for that jockey. Glad you rested.

Betsy--the Sharks won again! I do hope they get to the Stanley Cup games and Pav is better! Hope the hard conversation has good results. Where is DS going to work now? And I would be raising H$*L with someone over wrong medications! Your DH is a bit too "nice" for his own health!

It was a month ago yesterday that our friend passed away. I do feel for his wife and daughter. I know the wife is dealing with paperwork and it isn't easy. Keep Vicki and Lizzie in your prayers. Vicki just sounds so sad--understandably! And Lizzie is in CA, making some decisions without her dad to help her--she is doing okay but....

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Cathy, glad you crashed on the sofa! How many Star Wars movies did you watch? When signing Jul up for Medicare I did not find the person at our senior center very helpful...I left more confused than when going in. Worst part was that she was highly recommended! I think I will go to the social security office next time or maybe get a elderly law lawyer! Bet it felt nice to go to bed on fresh sheets! Think we will do that today since it is easier to do it together!

Betsy, glad you and DD2 were able to have a good afternoon after the tough conversation! I agree with Cathy, the pharmacy should have asked if you had a nebulizer. I hope DH gets better without that inhaler! Maybe he needs a new doctor after this mess up.

No, Jul did not win. I do not expect him to. He can not walk away...thus my lack of enjoyment with going to the casino with him. I did play $20 on a couple of machines and ended up pulling $40 out before dinner, KFC. He pestered me for more money, so I gave the $40 slip to him. Guess that means I lost $20!
I just ordered bidding cards for the auction. It was $30 for 100. I was going to make them, but I figured the ink, cardstock, and my valuable time would have cost at least that!
No plans today, except Mass, a trip to CVS and grocery store, and laundry, including the sheets!
No Mexican food either...I does not care for it. Though maybe I will make some nachos and cheese later, lol!

Have a nice day!

Betsy, I know I am not looking forward to trying to figure out the best insurance for Dh when I retire. That can be a nightmare so I imagine the insurance for DD2 is just as bad if not worse. At least Seniors can get help at our local Mac Center with some advising them of the best plan for them. I know I will take advantage of that. Why can't they just call in the darn inhaler---don't have to admit a mistake but just do it? Duh! Actually, your pharmacist should have realized that your dh doesn't have the thing for them, too. I know Dh's pharmacists at CVS would have noticed that and questioned him before giving him those things. Sounds like you had a nice time out for lunch and at the other restaurant for drinking and talking with a view. Wish we had friends like that but then I can't imagine my Dh enjoying doing that either.
Anne, glad you got so much done. Did J win at the casino? Hope so!
Dianne, honestly for us it was not too much of a waste as it was Friday and it occured about the time for Fun Friday which means no learning anyhow. But the worse part was the 7th graders were not finished their state testing session when it occurred. And not all the kids had had lunch either.
Terri, so glad you took Rosie to the doctor---if you had waited much longer that abscess might have caused death. Too funny about the cat hiding from you. They can do that well---LOL Hope that new place will take the desk and that it sells quickly.
I only spend about an hour and a half. Not many customers but I did help a few with questions while there but was just too tired to do any longer. I did bring home 3 plants and got them in the ground before I went inside and crashed on the couch to binge on Star Wars. About the only thing I did do was strip my bed and wash the sheets and remake the bed plus made dinner. NOt a whole lot of fun but much needed rest for the legs.

Hello Team, after a very unpleasant conversation with DD2, we went to a bar and grill for lunch with some friends. It used to be a place where Al Capone frequented among other things and has been there ( obviously ) for a long time but we never knew it was so close. As Dianne mentioned, it's a beautiful day so we sat outside to eat lunch and stayed just to chat. I think I got a bit of sunburn! After lunch our friends wanted to show us another restaurant a little farther away with a beautiful view of the Wisconsin River. We sat inside there and had soft drinks while enjoying the view. By the time we got home, it was almost time for the horses to run the Kentucky Derby so we watched history in the making. While they were trying to determine if the winner was disqualified, I was amazed at how polite and considerate all parties involved were, how refreshing. Once the first winner was disqualified, the jockeys, horse owners, etc were still polite but the spectators definitely weren't . The booing went on for a long time, even when the winner was congratulated, very sad .

Terri, maybe the cat knew Rosie needed the vet more.

Anne, glad you had time to have some fun at the casino.

Dianne, I think you need to come back so I can take YOUR picture standing in front of the Pavelski billboard.

Cathy, emoticon to you as well, what a horrible day. How great that Tanner actually pulled through when it was most important.

DD2 has been difficult lately and DS asked to borrow money with the promise of paying it back when he gets his first paychecks at his new jobs. DH is still fighting bronchitis and I am furious with the doctor/pharmacist for not giving him an albuterol inhaler when he clearly needs one. They gave him liquid vials for a nebulizer instead and we don't have a nebulizer! When I called to see if we could get the inhaler, the response was, " he said he had had this before." I explained that he felt awful and thought they meant an inhaler as he has had an albuterol inhaler in the past. They told us to call the clinic and the clinic said that it was a mistake and he wasn't supposed to get two inhalers at all. The one that he got clearly stated in bold letters that it is not intended to be used as a rescue inhaler and he needs one. AFTER that call, DH told me that the doctor clearly stated he would get two inhalers! I begged him to call or even go back in today but he wants to wait two days, grrr. We feel they are just trying to cover their backsides because they made a mistake!

May the Fourth be with you!

Terri, glad you got Rosie to the vet. Hope the antibiotics do the trick! Did you find the cat? Glad the trailer was safe over night. Steve is moving right along, kudos! Hope you can get to the sewing room tomorrow!

Dianne, it is kind of lousy that you have to stay for “no one” at the site. Though if some people just showed up they would lose out if there were no re-enactors there.

Betsy, good luck with the health insurance website stuff. I hate just going on for the wellness tracking on the insurance I get through work. Hope dh is resting!

Cathy, how scary having a bomb scare! Especially these days! Glad you had your water. Also glad no one had to find Tanner and that he was helpful! How long did you stay st the greenhouses? May the Fourth be with you as you binge Star Wars!

I did leave right at 6:00. Got stuff done at the rectory in less than an hour, except ironing 4 shirts...I was picking up dinner so I had to leave. I went back this morning and finished that. I went to a meeting at the venue where we are having the wine & auction to finalize what they provide/do, what we need to bring/do, and costs. Fr. J and another team member went. We talked with one of the coordinators and the chef. Afterwards I made a poster to put on an easel near where they were selling tickets.
Oh! I almost forgot! I gave Fr. J. a “happy Star Wars day greeting” when he arrived. The rest at the meeting looked at us as if we were crazy. “Is there really such a thing???”
I also made him a card and gave him 3 sets of playing cards with Star Wars heroes, villains, and I forget the theme for the third deck...I will check my order and let you know. Got a very warm thank you from him a little while ago. He was “amazed” at how I am managing all that I have to include the gift & card, lol!
We are at the casino with the brother and wife if Julian. I am done playing, this why I am on Spark, lol! Going to go find people and get dessert.

Have a good night!

Anne

The cat pulled a Houdini so I ended up taking Rosie to the vet instead and I'm really glad I did. She'd developed an abscess in the injured leg and will now be on antibiotics and some pain meds for a while. The dr doesn't think anything is broken, but there might be a fracture in the small bones in her "ankle" and the don't do anything for that anyway. If she's not better in a week, I'll bring her back for a splint.

The trailer that was left that night was way back at the top of the meadow, so not easy to get to and well protected.

I can't remember what else I was going to comment on because I'm on my phone and it won't let me toggle back and forth. At least, I don't know how. So I'm going to take my still- groggy girl home before she wakes up and wants in the front seat with me.

Hi, all! Cathy--glad you had water along! I am guessing it was just a threat and nothing was found. What a waste of a day of school, the resources spent hunting for the bomb and the emotional pain for all. I ddidn't even like the lockdown drills that the kids had to do....I would have been a parent picking up my kids, for sure.

Anne--I hope you locked the door and left!

Betsy--I don't envy you trying to figure out insurance. I am very thankful we had the ADA protection that allowed us to keep DD2 on our insurance till she was 26, that Ohio had allowed the expansion of Medicaid so she could get coverage when there and that my kids have no pre-existing conditions since I am sure it will get really expensive for coverage if you have something--is that what you are finding? Good luck--it isn't easy to understand or find something. It is a nice day--wish you could be outside.

Terry--I was afraid you were going to say someone had stolen the truck/trailer and stuff--glad that wasn't in the description. You were nice to go and help unload. You took the cat--is Rosie better then? I hope so.

I got up this AM and went to help with the church work day. FIVE of us showed and I got the screens back in the windows, did some window washing and by 10:30 we quit. Not enough people to make a dent in outside work. I went to do some garage sales--found a swimsuit for $2 since the chlorine destroys them anyway and got a cook book and DVD for 40 cents each--the gal was selling things for 40 cents just to get ride of them. Sounds like my idea. I also got a yellow colander--just like mine--that the girls might like. Oh--DD1 and 3 did a 5K race together in CA--they both got their bling (medals). Tomorrow we drive to NY to hear DD2 sing with her chorale. Supposed to rain ALL DAY.....yech.

Oh dear, Cathy! I'm glad you had your water with you! It also sounds like it was a good learning opportunity for Tanner. Maybe he'll consider what it would feel like to be trapped alone somewhere in the event something DID happen and he had wandered off. Some kids just have to learn things the hard way IF they learn at all.

I didn't get any sewing done yesterday as it turned out. Steve was using a planer to smooth out some more boards for his project and I helped him with that for a while. He cut and stained more trim and built the pantry door. It has been drying overnight and will be ready to install today. He'll have to put up the backboard over the top of the doorway and then mount the rail. I'll take a picture of it when he's done.

I have an appointment for the cat with the vet today. I have to drive to the next town an hour to the east, so it's going to take a chunk out of my day and she's NOT going to like it. She needs her vaccines and a checkup, though.

Yesterday I went to visit a local consignment shop that I'd never been to and had a nice chat with the owner. I was looking for a cat carrier, but found a nice wicker picnic basket that will do just fine. I think I'm going to take my oak computer desk down to her shop to sell, along with some of my leftover aprons and dishcloths. She has some very cute displays and I have extra nic-nacs that I might be able to sell there, too. She wants the soft goods and the desk, but I'll have to see what she thinks about the other odds & ends. She also goes to some of the local historical events and has a booth there, so might want to take some more things to sell. Now I just need to get them down to her store.

How are you doing today, Anne? Did you get out of the gas station early, like you wanted?

How does your weekend look, Betsy? Restful or Busy like usual?

Dianne, it would be fun to have a new historical gown to wear but it would be expensive to have made. Just the yards and yards of fabric involved is pricey. I have some patterns for period costumes, but have never made any of them. I bought them when they were on sale for $1 apiece just to add them to my collection in case I ever got around to making one. It would be fun to do one, but if I was hired to sew it for someone else I'd have to charge more than it would be worth, I think.

Betsy, I would have posted the same kind of thing if I had gotten on when I got home---more about that later.
Anne, sounds like a lot was done. Hope you don't feel it too bad today. I know I am feeling yesterday this morning. Hope you are able to relax some today.
Dianne, it would be fun to have a gown to dress up in---I do love the dresses from that era. I don't understand why you all can't leave after you do the groups that are scheduled. Did your "guests" understand English well enough to get something from that. We will probably watch Star Wars today---figure it will be on TV but if not, we have the dvds---LOL I can tell you now that I will not be doing much after I get home from the greenhouses and not sure how long I will stay there either.
Terri, wow, sounds like quite the work was done at the new place. Glad the boys were a big help. Are they excited about the move? You never answered whether you will have internet and cell phone service at the new place. Definitely make stuff for yourself first as you won't get it done if you don't---LOL
What a day yesterday was! The day started out normally. Only one student absent---but Tanner was there but doing okay. We went out to the track and walked a couple of laps---it was not too bad out there when we went but the sun was making it hot. I brought them back to the room to cool down before lunch. Once they got their lunch, I went to take my break. I was in the middle of lunch when over the intercom, the principal announced that we were evacuating the school. Thankfully I had my drink and brought it with me because after we were all outside we had to walk over to the Salvation Army campground---it was a bomb threat---it is about a 15 minute walk holding on to 2 autistic children---one to keep him calm and one to keep him moving fast enough that we didn't lose him. When we got to our destination, we had to get inside to get Diego out of the sun---it was good I had my drink as I might not have done as well once we got there. We were there for about 2 hours before we could return---luckily we moved into a room in there away from the commotion in the gym area---very important for our kind of kids---most of the parents came to pick up our kids---probably close to one half of the total students were picked up there---so all we had to walk back with us was Tanner. WE did talk to him about the event---and he was very helpful in keeping Richi calm---he has high anxiety ---and how important that he not be roaming the halls and be where he was supposed to be because in the event of an emergency, it would not be fair to others if they had to make sure he was not in the building. I think he gets it now. It was a very tiring day. In total I got in 5 miles on my Fitbit.
I did turn the ac on when I got home---I had just been too hot all day long and needed a comfortable place to be. We did go to Chick-fil-a for dinner---no way was I cooking---also the bank and pet store to find something new to feed Jade to help with her throwing up.
I need a very restful afternoon---for sure---and not much left to sell at the greenhouses so not sure how long I will stay.

Terri, you are a godsend for your kids & spouses! Lot of work in a few days! Looking forward to seeing the sliding barn doors on the pantry! How big will the quilt be?

Dianne, I am presuming the gown will be an historical style one. Sometimes I wish we wore that style of dressing! Does the head honcho have similar bad management skills?
Rich and his wife and I got a lot done today, though it doesn’t look it because the boxes are still around...the storage area needs to be cleared.
I need to go back to the rectory after I finish up here at the gas station. I did not put the laundry on until 3 o’clock this afternoon. What a dope! I just need to go fold and hang anything that needs to be hung. I will go in the morning to iron anything that needs to be ironed.
Since all the work orders have been picked up already I think I’m going to lock the door in about three minutes, filling the paperwork page, and lock up.
No other plans for the rest of the night.
Hope everyone has a good evening.

Betsy, I'm 63 so I guess I'm eligible for Medicare, (**or maybe not after reading Cathy's post) but am not required to sign up yet, so I won't. We have good insurance through Steve's retirement so I don't need to change yet. I knew J was that kind of teacher from the way your family loves and cares for children that don't belong to you and from the dedication he shows by showing up to teach even when it might be better for HIM to stay home for a few extra days. I know there are a good many teachers like him and have had some myself and for my kids, but I've also had and known some who were quite mercenary and others who went from fairly inept to downright incompetent. Then, when the state gets into trying to change social norms and make policy through the school system by indoctrinating children...well, it's time to do something about it. Again, I'm glad I'm done!

We followed Adam out to the ranch with a trailer loaded with farm stuff yesterday afternoon. They had gone the night before with both their cars and the friend that lives out there each pulling a trailer loaded with things. The friend had Benjamin's pickup on his trailer, Adam had the 20' trailer with their big plastic Costco shed on it and Sarah was pulling the Haulmark box trailer with all the tack, saddles and such that needed to go back into the Costco shed once it was unloaded. They ran out of daylight, so couldn't finish that job, and ended up leaving the big trailer parked out there with the Costco shed still on it. It was a late night for them and they had all the kids with them, so I suggested that she stay home and get the kids to bed at a decent time and let us help Adam. So we went back earlier yesterday and got it all done and a load of firewood moved from the rental to the ranch. Now Sarah has an empty Haulmark trailer to fill up again.

They've nearly got the entire corral down and the panels stacked and ready to load on a trailer. They'll be pulling up metal t-posts (for the fence) next. Fortunately, the boys are able to do a lot of those things and be a big help to their parents.

The Hardware for the sliding "barn" door for the pantry arrived yesterday while we were out, so Steve is working on that today. He'll build the door from the same wood he's been cutting for the trim so it will all match. He'll have to stain the door and let it dry, so it might not be installed until later, but the hardware should be up soon.

I'm back in the sewing room, making the scrap squares into quilt blocks and maybe some more summer tops for myself. I've made two tshirts and two tank tops and like the way they fit, so might make more. I also need a summer nightie and/or pjs, so could use up some of this knit fabric on that. So that's what is on my list for today. I've already answered emails and need to make a phone call to pay a bill, and then it's back upstairs. Oh--speaking of bills... my last mortgage payment went through yesterday and we are done! Such a good feeling!

Morning! Sorry I didn't make it here yesterday. The traffic wasn't so bad but I did get off and do some back roads--thank goodness for the smart phone with GPS. The "kids" were adults studying civics for their citizenship tests so mostly ESL students. Wish we had known! And, instead of 75 each day, it was TOTAL but the idiot that takes the reservations doesn't pay any attention. So I had 23 kids in 2 groups--again taught 30 minutes and was there from 9:30 till 1:45. (Their lack of management skills is just astonishing.) I may end up getting a gown made--that would be very fun--and likely expensive--but it would still be nice.

Betsy--yes, my chilly WI plants are getting well established in the chilly weather--although yesterday got up to 75 and I did run the AC in the car for a bit. Sometime, could you get a photo of that sign for me to share with DD1? DD3 is on her way out to CA to visit DD1. And we'll see DD2 on Sunday as we drive up to the Hudson Valley area to hear her sing in a concert.

Anne--I hope you manage to get everything done. And yes, I spend more time looking for things than I care to admit! Keep doing your exercises!

Terri--glad Rosie seems to be getting a bit better. So sorry she was attacked. Glad Steve is getting the trim work done. Around here, I will have to do most of the downsizing or 90% of our stuff would be tossed/donated. I understand 50%--maybe 60% but I won't do 90%! LOL Hubby would! At least my stuff--he'd keep 90% of his tools!

Cathy--had to laugh when I saw Naked Gardening Day--couldn't figure out how to grab the photo to share. Yes, we would celebrate Star Wars Day--but did you see that the man who played Chewbacca passed away? He was only 72. I would have married Chewie in 1979 had I had the chance! LOL

So making chicken piccatta tonight for dinner--it is certainly the first time I will be trying to make it. Dinner will be no earlier than 6:30--my friend has a job interview by phone and then is showing the cleaning gal what she got herself into--hopefully the house is empty enough for someone to clean it so the photos can be taken to list it--only about a month later than was hoped for. It does bother me that I will likely need to rent a storage unit for my stuff while still living in the house. Oh,well. I guess people can't be expected to see with a few boxes piled in the basement or garage.....

Expecting more rain today--but heading out for a walk/run soon!

Morning all!

Cathy, I bet you were bummed to hear Tanner was back! Sorry it has become so hot that ac is wanted already! Was it humid because of the rain?

I do not know why Fr. B did not start packing sooner. My guess is he needed assistance to get motivated to do something he really did not want to do and I was busy with liturgical stuff when I got back. Then, of course, sending off all those gifts! Also, I think he wanted only close those to him working on it.

I took one Aleve PM last night and slept much better than I have in days. Not the best sleep, but definitely better! I will head to the rectory early since I am already up. Going to run out for a haircut at some point, I hope! My hair is driving me nuts! Time to exercise!

T.G.I.F.!!!

Dianne, how did the teaching go? Hope you had some good kids who wanted to learn---a rarity nowadays. Also hope the traffic wasn't too horrible with being able to leave later. LOL to the naked gardening--I think that might cause my plants to die of shock or horror. And I would rather celebrate the Force on the Fourth!
Betsy, I don't think you will be eligible for Medicaid but I could be wrong---definitely not Medicare as you have to be 65. The one reason why I am staying at my job is to keep the health insurance for both of us---I should be able to keep mine after I retire but not for DH. There are a lot of hoops to jump thru to be teacher of the year so I understand. Have been friends with those who were chosen as the rep for the school I was in and they talked about all the paperwork they have to fill out---which then takes them away from being the best teacher. If only they would let the teacher teach the basics in the lower grades and stop all this testing nonsense. I know you are glad it is Friday.
Anne, glad you found the missing paper. How annoying is that? Glad you are delegating authority to others for certain projects. I just don't understand why the Father couldn't pack up more of his own stuff. I do hope you get another Father there. HOpe you had the energy for the PT and found no surprises in the medical bills. We just found out that our co-pay and drug copay is going up for next year----not happy but nothing I can do about it.
Terri, hope the meds continue to help Rosie move around. Glad no more sign of aggressive behavior from the other 2 dogs but do warn the grands to come tell you if they see them. In some ways it is good to wait for the SS but if something happens to Steve----we sure hope not--you won't ever draw on your own but off of his----so maybe draw and put your money in an IRA to have for later? I think I will draw mine at 66 even if I keep working and put it away as a cushion. I have spent all my small inheritance except what I have put away towards a Disney trip. It was put to good use so no complaints about it.
Well, Tanner came back on Wednesday when I was out and was in class all day yesterday. But I bet she lets him have Fun Friday---which I totally disagree with so I might make myself scarce this afternoon.
It was super hot here yesterday--boy, was I tempted to put the ac on. It did cool off a bit last night after we had a good rain storm come thru. The plants all needed that kind of rain, too.
Another hot day on tap for today, too----glad it is Friday, too!

Yay! I found my papers! They were in one of the folders I actually looked in, but were backwards, so I didn’t see the emblem I was looking for!

I think teaching so kids will do well on the state mandated tests is stupid...they need solid teaching of the basics....reading, writing, & ‘rithmetic!

Betsy, kudos to the humility of your dh!

Terri, I like lists, too and have one going at the rectory...it is just overwhelming! It sounds like Rosie’s joints and muscles are bearing the brunt of that attack. Prayers that the stiffness will go away and she will be her old self soon!

I hate insurance...all kinds! It is difficult to understand some of the jargon. Also amazing how they have weird loopholes! Way too complicated for my tired brain! I have to check and see what I have been paying towards this hip repair...do not want to pay more than I should!

Time to get my paperwork ready...it is almost closing time!

Terri, I like lists too! That's funny that your cat likes Rosie's medicine. Of course I am biased but DH is a phenomenal teacher. He used to be nominated for the teacher of the year award all the time but people gave up because he won't say all kinds of positive things about himself and that is a requirement. The principal told him he "needs him for at least a few more years." I believe I am eligible for Medicaid at 62 but I would need to double check that. if correct, I have four years and some change to go. DH is all for home schooling and school choice because it raises the bar for public education but many don't see it that way.

Dianne, I think of your DD1 every time I pass Burger King and see the , " Home of Joe Pavelski" sign. ( hockey player , everyone else ) It's great to hear that he was on skates again. Of course WI plants like cool, wet weather! I remember when you cleared out an entertainment center once before, it was quite the project. Is this the same one or another one that you have to tackle? How was your history day and who were the students?

Everyone is down for a nap but I am hearing murmurs so back to work I go.

Lists can really save me when my mind won't turn off. It seems like they're all fluttering around in my brain until I can "capture" them on paper. Of course, the emotional element adds to your restlessness, Anne. Do be careful how you move, turn, bend and all. You're still in recovery! I hope you find those lists you're missing. We are all getting to that stage where we spend half our time looking for lost things and the other half retracing our steps because we forgot why we came into that room, aren't we? No? Well, I am!

Rosie is pretty stiff again this morning, so we gave her another ibuprofen. I do give her the Glucosamine/Chondroitin daily in her food. She tends to try to avoid it, so I bury it so she can't see it--also so the cat can't see it because SHE loves it and will eat the tablets out of Rosie's dish. She hasn't shown any signs of arthritis up to now. This is all about the injury to her leg, I'm sure. We have only seen the neighbor's two dogs since then, and only once. Haven't seen the pit bull again, so the pack has been dismantled. As I said, the neighbor's two dogs only trespass to poop but have been pretty friendly until the other dog was with them. The neighbor is what we refer to as "a grower" in our area. He's got a moderate cannabis plot down there and I'm not sure if he's got all the legal permits. He really doesn't want me to call the sheriff. I don't have a problem shooting dangerous dogs, but I'll give them a chance to respond to my warning first.

I hope your day is enjoyable, Dianne. Good idea to fill up your fuel tank where the prices are better. Maybe it's time to start compiling a list of things to do in and around the house before you sell it. It helps to put things into perspective and to prioritize projects. When you have an overall plan, it's easier to know where to start. What part of it would you have to be involved in? Downsizing?

Good idea to lead the water class, Cathy. I'm sure you gave everyone a good workout. Did Howard go to that one? How's his foot doing and his back, after planting all your garden beds? Have you decided whether he'll get the shed or you'll get the gazebo? Now that you have your inheritance to spend, why not get both if you want?

Betsy, I don't know what the answer to the educational issue is, but I DO know that any time the government gets involved, things get messed up. California is insane and there are so many people opting OUT of public education and choosing alternatives for their kids that there's a movement to regulate those choices. I am glad my kids are grown. Most of my grands are being home schooled but the teachers' unions are always making noises about how much money is being "stolen" from public schools by people who remove their kids. They don't get that there are REASONS we make that choice. I'm sure that J is a great teacher and loves teaching. As you said, it's the politics that take all the fun out it. How many years before you become eligible for medicaid? You're younger than I am and I have two more years, I think. I haven't even signed up for Soc. Security yet because Steve wanted me to wait for a bigger check. We don't need it as long as he's still able to work part time.

Steve is nearly done with the trim in the house. He has some to do in our walk-in closet and bathroom, one piece in the playroom closet, and then a very long piece over the pantry door where the "barn door" hardware will go. He's going to wait until the hardware arrives so he can cut the board to the right length. He has the wood to build the door, so that will save us some money. That will be two big things crossed off his list. He's going to have a local craftsman come over to look at the area where we need to build the front steps. He's got a bit of a mental block where they are concerned and just can't get a picture in his mind of how to do it--which is why they are still undone, I suppose.

Anne, I believe Cathy meant two more days of work for the week. You continue to be in my prayers for strength and healing physically and emotionally. emoticon

Terri, poor Rosie! Prayers for healing for her and sense to the owners of the dogs who attacked her.

Cathy, yes, WI used to have a fantastic educational system but politics have interfered and things are crazy now. Teachers should be allowed to teach and not have to jump through all these crazy hoops just for scores, it isn't working! DH comes home with a new report of someone fed up with the way things are and retiring daily. He even said he might only teach one more year on Sunday! On Monday it was a different story, I want him to hold out until I am eligible for Medicaid since he is my insurance plan. emoticon on being the number one greenhouse in the country, that's emoticon . As far as a Saturday "inservice" goes, the staff was not paid but they did earn points towards moving up a lane on the pay scale. DH has earned 30 points this year, 15 are required to keep your job and 90 are needed to get a small raise. They get three points for reading and discussing an assigned book, 15 points for mentoring a student teacher for a semester and so on, it's a lot of busy work but at least it is towards a raise.

Our snow is gone but it is still cold and dreary,36 degrees at the moment.

Dianne, I have notes for you but they will have to wait as 3/4 of my children have arrived. I ran up here to take out the trash and close this.

Have a great day!

Cathy, it was Dianne who made the grandkids comment, which is very true! You have only 2 more days to work? When does school get out? Or were you talking about working at the greenhouses? Yay to doing those exercises that the teacher leaves out! I wonder if I can swim yet? Oh well, since there's no pool in my life, guess that's a moot question...but I will ask when I go back to the doctor in July.

Dianne, I do not paint...they don't want me to paint, lol! My things are mostly delegate and pack. I hope that you have a good day portraying history! When will your dh be retiring? Make sure you keep some "me" time!

I do have a list made up, but it's at the rectory. I think I kept thinking about how to delegate and also what the heck did I do with the copies of address print out that Fr. B gave me. I know where he is, so I was able to look up the address. The other copy was for his sister. I will write the information down for her, but I really am going nuts trying to remember where I put them! I have a couple of other spots to check at the rectory, but I think I may have already looked in them.

I have PT at 9:00 and am not looking forward to it. The lack of sleep means lack of energy...so coffee and shower do your thing! Time to get moving so that I don't end up late or needing to come back to the house afterwards. Fr. B's sister is coming to pack things today, so I want to make sure the couple of things that need to be ironed are ironed. I think we will pack his clothes as today's task. Also go through the one closet that we haven't even touched...the one I almost forgot about. It shouldn't be too difficult...it's mostly clothes that we will either repack or dump, his linens, and his suitcases.

Have a great Wednesday!

Morning! We are to get to 75 and the rain should be later--at least the thunderstorm rain. I planted petunias yesterday--got one 6 pack--and they could use rain and warmer. The hen and chicks I moved this April from WI are doing very well--guess they like the cooler and wet. I usually move them in August!

Terry--I hope Rosie is doing better!! I have read that vitamin C also can help older dogs with arthritis--verify before trying! I would also report a "pack of dogs" roaming to your sheriff--just to be on record. Glad Steve is making headway. I asked hubby what he'd do if he retired--he said work on the house to get it ready to sell. Trouble is, lots of that will involve ME!

Cathy--wow to the greenhouse! Congrats! Can you get in there part-time to help teach? Would get you out of the classroom with Tanner! That is really cool! And yes, I think they will still come today--no real rain dates available. I am not wearing my stays today--likely won't for these schools. They are not comfortable to drive in and take awhile to put on/take off. Traffic looks bad now but I don't go for at least 45 minutes.

Anne--keeping you in prayers! Hang in there. You won't do any painting, will you? Just have to coordinate? And say "can't move yet" if things are not done--Father can wait--even if he doesn't want to! Worst case, the new priest moves into guest rooms temporarily till you are ready--they will survive.

Betsy--hope all is well. DD1 said Pav was on skates yesterday--certainly not playing but at least up and around! And the Sharks have won 2 games over the Denver team.

Well--off to teach today. I have a sandwich, some tea (may stop and get coffee) and will teach till 1 or 1:30--then go buy gas at a cheaper place up there on my way home.

Anne, maybe you need to make a list and check it off---Terri says that helps her when those kind of things keep her awake. Hope you aren't too tired today---be careful with that hip if you are. So much turmoil is not good for you.
Dianne, we didn't have a leader again last night for the water class---so I took over---gave us all a good workout---did the fast, then slow tabata method to get our heart rates up. We all like doing them but she rarely remembers them, plus did some combo exercises that she rarely or never does, too. Hope it's not too warm for your colonial clothing---it will be here. Looks like you will have rain--just saw the radar on my TV---LOL---will they come if it rains?
Terri, do you give Rosie the glosomine/chondrotin meds? That can help them as they age, too. I hope she continues to do well---poor baby! And I think it was Anne that mentioned the grands---if those dogs are roaming as a pack, they could attack a child---I know Steve would take his gun out then. If they attacked your dog, they could very well attack a child, too. Sounds like Steve is making real progress on all those things you have wanted to be done.
Betsy, were you super busy?
May Day started out a bit cool but warmed up nicely about time for lunch. We are now the Number One School Greenhouse in the USA and the top Horticulture Program in our state. We just topped sales over 100,000 dollars---yes, that amount! That is for the school year---but the bulk of our sales are the Spring sales. Lots of empty spaces in the greenhouses---he did get in a new shipment of flowers but they are just babies right now.
Glad I only have 2 more days to work---LOL

Terri, I hope Rosie heals with assistance of a small dosage of ibuprofen. I will ask Saint Francis of Assisi that he will interfere on her behalf and join in my prayers for her healing!

Can not sleep. I can not shut off my brain! I keep thinking about all the tasks ahead. Yes, I will be glad when this month is almost over!

I gave Rosie an ibuprofen this morning, although the web information was controversial. Some said never and others said only as a last resort. It really seemed to help and she was able to get up and walk herself outside this afternoon.

Anne, I'm feeling emotional with you this morning. Rosie isn't doing well and when I read your post, my throat tightened a little. It's difficult to say goodbye to beloved friends--even if it's a pet. I'm continuing to pray as you deal with the move. Pray that if this ends up being her time, that we can say goodbye to Rosie peacefully. But we'd rather see her get better, of course.

DH is doing so well, Dianne! Has your family always been runners? I know your brother is a maniacal runner, but are you all?

Cathy, I'm jealous that you've got so much of your garden planted. I check my seedlings every couple of hours to see if there are any more sprouts.

Betsy, I sure hope J isn't pushing it too hard. It can be so hard to keep these men down when they need to rest!

We're going to Adam's house to borrow a planer so Steve can make some more trim. He's used up all he already had planed. There were more places unfinished than he thought, but it's sure starting to look better.

Morning! I got up easily today and went to my water aerobics class. Hubby went and ran 5 miles -- and did it under an hour! He is getting back on track.

Anne--hang in there! Thanks for the update. Like Cathy said, go ahead and cry at home! Hope J doesn't have traffic trouble.

Going to the "evil place" shouldn't be as bad--traffic should be better if I don't have to arrive till 9:30. I may dress at home but change out of it there on their dime. I ONLY go if they are having student groups that I can teach--I do not go to sit there. And if any of them say anything stupid around me, I will call them on it!

Cathy--I would love to come to your greenhouses--but the savings would be eaten up in gas/tolls! Enjoy your day. We are not going to get as warm--we might get 74 tomorrow.

Terry--so glad you guys stopped the dogs! Poor Rosie--you might need to get her checked out and give them the bill. That is scary--what if it were one of the grandkids? The dog owners need to THINK.

Grocery shopping today. Water aerobics sure felt good this AM--didn't work as hard as Monday but still had a good workout.

Happy thought title...love it! I don't generallly plant anything, but I will be doing some transferring of plants from small pots to bigger ones.

Cathy, I loved your "Steve should have his gun ready..." comment. I totally agree! Yay to taking today off! I hope you have lots of fun at the greenhouses! Hope it won't be too hot in there!

I've been awake since just before 5. I know having so much to do is what is messing with my sleep (along with all the other things that usually messes with it, lol). I intended to stay down til 7:00, however, J getting up changed that thought process. J usually sleeps in a bit later on Wednesday's since he goes in the opposite traffic direction, but because he has a meeting at 9:00 and it's a 1.5 hour drive he was up early and is heading out. So, I am up and enjoying a cup of coffee before the rat race begins again.

Hope everyone has a great May Day!

Figured we will all plant something this month. It is good exercise, too.
Betsy, sorry that Dh didn't take at least another day off---hope he doesn't have a relapse--I know lesson plans are a pain but teaching while sick is probably not ideal, either. Hope the next time you do the recipe it turns out delicious and not burnt on top. You might need to coninue eating the cake to keep going as you sound tired.
Dianne, I thought you weren't going to go there again---hope traffic is a bit better with leaving a bit later. I might change out of costume but thinking it might be easier to dress at home. But since you have to be there before the kids, either way is okay---not that they really seem to understand what you do anyhow.
Terri, oh, my! Steve should have his gun ready if that pit bull comes on the property again. I hope Rosie is okay but they could have broken her leg or got a tendon. If that pit bull had really got a hold of her, she would not survive---they go for the throat on their own. Maybe it is a good thing that you are selling the house and moving. You might want to take Rosie with you to the canyon if Steve is not going to be home to keep an eye on her with those other dogs turning rogue. Glad Steve is enjoying retirement again. What did you get done in the sewing room?
Anne, Did he do the service on Sunday since he was leaving? When will you get a replacement? Hope you like the new one. Is his stuff going in storage? did he want to leave? Go ahead and cry---you need to get it out and stop acting the brave girl--it is sad to lose a close friend to a move that you didn't want to happen. Hugs! And thanks for sharing my picture.
It was definitely too warm yesterday. We went out for dinner and then came home and planted all the veggies and the new strawberry plants---got in some good exercise that way. We have at least a hundred blossoms on the old strawberry plants----we should have a nice crop this year. Peas are growing but hope they do okay from the heat this week---today won't be too bad but Thursday and Friday will be way too warm again.
I took off today to go to the May Day celebration at the greenhouses. We will plant the All American Select Display gardens as part of it. Always enjoy seeing the people I don't get to see any more that help put on demonstrations in the classroom.
Hope everyone has a good day today!
