Dianne, it is going to be super hot in DC this weekend---they are saying we might hit 90---yuck! Nice that you get to have dd3 home even if just for a bit. How was the event yesterday? Did you learn anything new or just share what you already know? That sounds like such a pleasant way to spend the day. That is a shame that they don't treat their volunteers well at the Bronx Zoo. Wonder if it is because past volunteers have been bad or if the paid people are afraid they will lose their jobs. I would think that the show has greatly added to their monetary budget. I have one day lily in bloom---a bright yellow one---it should have another bloom open today. Others will definitely be forced along with the super warm air coming my way. Hope your calla lilies wait to open until you are home to enjoy them.
Terri, wow, that was quite a lot of work done. Glad that you got all that scrap metal hauled off and the burn piles taken care of. You all definitely deserve a day of rest after all that.
Just a normal day yesterday and then pool workout last night. Stayed up late last night---for me---10 PM---so know I will be a bit tired today.
Have a good Thursday---Friday is coming!

We finished the weed eating and mowing, and then burned the last brush piles. They had just burned down to a pile of coals when the rain came. It was 9:30 by the time we got into the house.

Tomorrow, we'll rest. Maybe some school for the boys, but no hard labor.

The boys and I safely burned six piles last night as the clouds were rolling in. I called the CalFire number to see if it was a permissible burn day and when I learned that it was, we went for it. We got all but one pile and we may do that one today since it's not raining hard yet. We didn't come in until after 9:00 last night and then all took showers with the Tecnu scrub. I have lots of scratches and a few bumps, but no serious rashes and neither do the boys.

Betsy, Steve doesn't get poison oak and our kids have worked and played in and around it all their lives and never gotten it. I, on the other hand, used to get it off THEIR clothes when doing their laundry. Not fair!

The boys never got back to the creek because they were too tired. LOL We had all worked until I couldn't go any more and then we just coasted the rest of the day. The boys have been playing catch up with their school work, so squeezed in a few more lessons before we watched more M.A.S.H. from the DVDs we borrowed from the library. Yesterday, Dad showed up unexpectedly with his old truck and offered to haul our metal away. I told him the boys had another 20 ft of fence to pull down, so they ran out and got right to it. They didn't dawdle since Grandpa was waiting and got the last of it down and loaded into the back of the truck, along with some old posts and metal pipes. A very full truck load and a much neater yard.

It's starting to sprinkle and there's more tall grass and weeds that I'd like to knock down so I'm going out this morning to work on that. If it starts to rain in earnest, I'll quit and we'll do something else but the weeds are starting to flower and will make stickers if I don't get them down now. They'll be all dry by the time I come back.

Anne, it's unanimous. No paperwork =not your problem. But you are the consummate helper so I'm sure you'll be there to help figure things out.

I hope you are all happy with the weather you're getting. I sure am. I love Spring and summer rain and it means I don't have to water everything right now.

Morning! I am off to workshop today--18th century living--should be great fun! And we have SUNSHINE!! No rain!! This is not a first but unusual for this year. We are to get to the 70s on Sat but we go to DC on Sunday for a wedding and come home Monday. Supposed to be hot there.

I have gotten the stain to lighten up but still there--using Felsnapsa soap (spelled wrong) and peroxide. Trouble is--they washed and dried this shirt before treating the stain. I will get it mostly out--or work on making it a short sleeved shirt!

Cathy--I have a friend who volunteers at the Bronx Zoo--she is there at least one day a week. They no longer treat their volunteers very well but she perseveres. I have more calla lilies up--the warmer this weekend will send them WAY up!

Betsy--your DH needs some REST! Oh, well--he doesn't listen. I didn't know that My Fair Lady was on Broadway again--hope she enjoys it. Are they doing all the tourist stuff as well? I may take you up on that challenge between us!

Terri--you WERE busy. Hope you don't over do too much today. Glad Rosie is doing better! Steve will take care of the plants--that is true. Too bad Rosie didn't come along.... I am staying away from bread/pasta but will eat oatmeal--have to deal with the cholesterol issue. Today was black beans leftover from Saturday's Mexican dinner and a fried egg for breakfast. The black beans are good to get rid of cholesterol, too. I allow fruit but no added sugar anywhere.

Lindie--we are going to have a Sunday to look around Vancouver so thanks for the info. I hope to do some walking/hiking. Sounds unlikely that we'll get rained on.

Anne--I would agree--no paperwork, not your problem! I do hope YOU get some rest, too!

Looking forward to seeing DD3 on Saturday--she hasn't been home since Christmas 2017. I have to get her room fixed up! I have been using it as a place to hang workout stuff to dry!

Better finish getting ready for my daytrip!

Anne, at least one sister met up with you. It wasn't your problem that they sold without the computer running---so let the boss figure it out---your job is the paperwork, right? If no paperwork, then it's not yours---LOL Can she figure it out when they get another delivery and see the difference between the last bill and the new one on how much was sold and then figure it out from there? Hope PT went well.
Dianne, it might seem like a quiet day but it sounds lovely to me---LOL Did you get the stain out? Are you warming up by the weekend or still staying cool?
Betsy, I hope she enjoys NYC and the play and gets to see lots of things. Will they go to the Statue of Liberty? I would love to go and visit the museums there plus go to all the zoos that are part of the Bronx Zoo. After watching "The Zoo" on Animal Planet, I really would like to go see the exhibits in person. Hope Kate does well on her interview and enjoys her special breakfast. Glad Tim got to go home and hope he improves.
Terri, no wonder you couldn't sleep. That was quite the workout for you. Glad Steve went home to take care of Rosie and the plants. I will be leaving Dh to care for the plants and the cats next month---LOL You might be glad to head home and get some rest---LOL Did the boys hit the creek again after all that work?
LIndie, nice pictures. Reagann will be in middle school year after next ---she is scheduled to be where I am but there are lots of problems---fights especially---so they are worried and thinking of private---but then they don't want to spend that money on her as they are doing lots of stuff to their house. I figure they might be more comfortable if I was still there if she needed something or there was a real problem. Sorry you have a rainy week ahead.
New kid is doing well. Tanner felt horrible in the morning---you could tell he didn't feel well, and his mom would not take him home---so he didn't act up but did no work---but not because he was choosing not to, we could tell he felt bad and not stubborness. Kids did a lot of independent work yesterday so they did okay. I just had to help Diego by explaining what he had to do and saying the words when he was choosing either beginning or ending sounds.
It was really chilly yesterday and the start of today will be also. But supposed to get a bit warmer today and the next 2 days but chance of rain, then finally a beautiful rain free weekend. Lots of planting to do this weekend so I am glad of that.
Have a nice Wednesday.

Lindie, what fun you have been having! I hope your sister wins the contest. If that bridge weren't too high, I would like it too. We also need to make some adjustments to make our taxes come out even, what a pain. Yesterday and today were busy days but we got to go outside for a little bit at the end of both days for the first time in months so that was nice. Yes, I believe everything was accomplished for the NY trip, if it wasn't , she'll have to deal with it! I have five little darlings from four moths to four years and surprise, surprise, three of them are GIRLS. That hasn't happened in decades!

Terri, immune to poison oak? I didn't know that was possible, they are lucky! emoticon on the 25 pound loss, emoticon After all this talk of a pink chainsaw, car, whatever, I think you should paint the exterior of your new house pink! emoticon

Anne, you expressed my sentiments exactly about sending people out for more cups and/or egg rolls. I feel you on the PT exercises except I am too tired to do them at night. What did you wind up getting for a birthday gift for Kat?

Cathy, ink cartridges are ridiculously expensive so I agree that Anne should charge them to the church for printing purposes. I am not sure the exact date DH finishes due to all the cancellations but I think it is June 7. He has the weekend off and then he goes right back to the park. How did the new student do today?

Dianne, it is so nice of you to try to remove a blood stain for your friend in care. Do we need to try a little one on one friendly competition again to get our weight down? Mine is up to but I have been having better luck with this challenge than the last one I did.

Kate arrived safely and we had a nice grilled steak dinner waiting for her. She's working on a presentation for her interview tomorrow at noon. We thought she deserved a nice breakfast so asked what she wanted and she chose blueberry pancakes and bacon. I have all the dry ingredients mixed together and will add the milk, eggs and fresh blueberries in the morning. I think DH will fry off the bacon when he gets up. She just came in and needs fresh towels so I am going to get those.

emoticon

Good afternoon team, hope your day is going well. It's been raining all day here and most of the week will be rain so that means indoor walking and stepping, which I have to do shortly. I still strive for 10,000 a day at least.

Terri, I am sure you would have loved 3 of the venues we went to this past weekend, and I can see you on the tree walk except for your heel situation, the only issue I had was getting my hands caught a couple of times and my fitbit, and I never had my cell out but I did stop at a couple of places and took pics - course I have balance issues now so that might have played a role in it, and you need to use both hands, interchanging as you go along. We did not do the tower that is at the centre which would have allowed us to see above the tree tops, but I was ok with that and still loved the nature trails. This garden is on aboriginal lands so this is in conjunction and cooperation with that particular band. Oh boy you have been busy and I am glad you are getting lots done, I bet you are getting anxious to sell too, glad the boys have been such a big help too ! I like your low carb plan, its one I am thinking of doing, and I am glad you kept greens in it, they do not have a lot of carbs, but some root veggies may - so water based veggies might be best for me. Thanks for that information, it will come in handy..

Dianne, depending on where your ship docks at, say Canada Place ? You will be centrally located to everything in every direction. If nature is what you want then you can do the walk along the water to Stanley Park and even do the sea wall - I could see you doing this - and there are also trails in Stanley Park as well as old growth forrest. However if you are looking more at museums, it just depends on the day as some have days they are not open, like the Japanese Gardens we went to are not open Mondays, and you might be able to find groupon deals as well, Charise is very good with groupon, I am not lol There is also Gastown, everyone usually wants to see the steam clock and hear the chimes go off and there are some restaurants there, like the Old Spaghetti Factory, and others. Just becareful downtown as there are street folks who want you to spare a dime and if you give to one, you have to give to all, some are very aggressive, and some are not - they ALL know where the free eats are though... and never miss those meals ... there are pick pockets as well - I never carry a purse down town, but I bet if anyone tried to take yours you would give them a good boxing of the ears for trying lol

All the venues I went to this weekend was free entry as my sister was/is doing a contest to get stamps for a book for a whole year of free tickets to these places. She definitely wants to go back to almost all of them.

Cathy, are you warm now, and did your day go well, any trouble with the new student, why is Reagann going to your school ? The nature walk itself was still very good and easy for me to do so I did enjoy that.

Anne, how is your physical therapy going ? Was it a full hip replacement, or partial ? Did you resolve the gas station issue ?

Betsy, sure hope your day went as smoothly as it could with the young ones and you are getting things done for the NY trip. Glad to hear that Tim was put on higher meds and allowed to come home.

Ok off of here and time to get stepping - have a good evening everyone !

My phone is down to 15% so will try to be quick and get this posted. I have to put it on the car charger because I forgot to bring the other one.

After not getting any outside work done for 3 days (2 days of truck scouting and auction & church on Sunday) we put in a long day yesterday. I mowed the yard again--front, back and side--and then started in the field. Ny that time, the sun was high and the field was hot, so I went to work with the boys on the fence line where there was shade. I pulled brush away from the fence and tossed it down the hill to be dragged to a pile in the middle. Pablo was cutting the brush away from the fence so that Tim could detach the wire and pull it out. Hard, messy work and lots of poison oak! Tim and I took showers with the Tecnu scrub again, but Pablo is immune. All three of my bio kids are safe from poison oak, like Steve. Lucky ducks! I was so sore last night I could barely move and had restless sleep because of it, but I'm feeling better this morning and will mow more of the field while the boys finish the last of the fence line.

Then we'll go borrow Dad's truck again and make another dump run with all the wire and some other junk metal.

Lindie, I would have loved that nature walking you did and probably even the swinging bridge if it wasn't too high. I'm glad you had a nice day with your sister.

Dianne, my low-carb plan would not be approved by SP but it's working for me and easy to stick to. I already ate "real" foods and cook from scratch 95% of the time, but have now eliminated anything made from grains or containing significant amounts of sugar--even natural sugar. So no bread, potatoes, pasta or rice and no fruit. Well, not very often. I did buy some fresh strawberries on the way down and the boys and I ate them in the car. I eat a lot of protein and vegetables. Since I started, I've lost about 15 lbs in addition to what I'd lost prior to having my gallbladder removed. So I'm down about 25 lbs so far. Still a long way to go to get into a healthy range, but I'm feeling better and am comfortably wearing some jeans that I couldn't get zipped last year.

Steve couldn't stay longer with me because Rosie was at home and still has a few more days on her meds and we didn't want to leave that to anyone else to deal with. He said that she's back to normal, though, and even jumped into the back of the pickup and went for a ride with him. She couldn't do that a week ago. He's also watering my seedlings and all the trees and berries I have potted, so had to go home. He said that he was able to finish the last of the trim upstairs too, so he's been productive. He also helped Adam take another load of stock panels and firewood out to the ranch, so they got to spend some time together.

Phone is down to 7% now, so better post before I lose this. I'll try to get back later.

We didn't get a great night of sleep here either, hopefully tonight will be better. Sorry it is so cool out there on the east coast. DD2 is going to be in NY for a little less than a week on a school trip. She is going to see My Fair Lady on Broadway and is very excited.

Cathy, I have only skimmed but saw you commented I must have gotten busy and that's true.
DD2 stayed with the ones who left late and I went straight to PT, came home and went straight to preparing and eating supper. By the time we cleaned up , it was nearly eight and I remembered I was supposed to call my sister so I did that and she had a lot to say so it was past nine when we hung up. There were still a few things left to do to prepare for Kate's visit tonight ( interview is tomorrow) so I did that , read a little of my new book from DD1 and went to bed. I am trying to stay off the computer after 9 PM so this is taking some adjusting.

Mia is already here but she's asleep so I am going to post this and try to catch up on yesterday's posts.

Have a terrific Tuesday! Oh, some good news, Tim was put on even stronger blood thinners and allowed to come home yesterday.

Morning! Hubby had to go into work today--and his church trustee meeting ran till after 10 PM last night--so short sleep for us. My haircut turned out nice--about jaw length.

Lindie--the pictures are nice! We will have a full day in Vancouver -- we'll be staying downtown. What should we do? I am open to ideas!

Cathy--hope the new kid just takes it easy--and maybe Tanner will display model behavior (and pigs will fly). We have our heat on--the 40s are just too cold! I do wish we could have a fire in the hearth at the park--it would be much nicer than turning the heat on!

Hitting the gym today for weightlifting. Might do lunch with a friend. I brought home a shirt from Bob--blood stains on a sleeve. I am going to see if I can get them out--peroxide and dish soap often work! Otherwise--quiet day.

Cathy, I hope the new student does not let the devil out in the classroom!

Lindie, that picture is awesome! But I agree with Cathy...do not think I would have crossed it!

Only met my older sister. The younger one did not get my message earlier enough. I will catch up with her soon. I am very tired this morning and I have PT...boooo! I need to head in to the gas station now because we have some creative thinking to do to figure out last Monday’s volume of diesel sold. I do not care about the dollars, though I am sure she will! If she does the ball will be thrown back into her court!

Have a nice Tuesday!

Anne, did you have breakfast with both or just one sister? It was nice to have my birthday dinner with my sister--We haven't seen each other for several months. Hope you got all that info entered and are in the stage of printing. Will you have it printed somewhere or do it at home? Better buy extra ink cartridges and charge them to the church.
Dianne, we didn't have that much rain but we did need to turn the heat back on yesterday---it was just too damp and that made it feel much cooler inside. I did feel a whole lot better once I got warm---but that was when I got to the pool and into the warm water---so I warmed up from the inside out. Do you like your new hair cut?
Betsy, guess you got busy. Why is dd2 going to NY?
Lindie, quite the adventure. Sounds like a lovely day--although I wouldn't have been really thrilled about that upper walkway---but it does give you a different perspective on all the growth. I do have to make up 3 days this year---that is why I go until the 14th. 2 more years at least until retirement, maybe 4 because Reagann will be at my school for that long. I get yearly reports on what I would be getting from SS and from retirement plan---but there is one more that I won't know how much until I am closer to retiring.
New student was okay yesterday----looks like he thinks he is a bad boy--hope he doesn't try anything. Could tell that Tanner was jealous of the attention the new kid got. Teacher got observed in the morning. She did a lot of differentiation in her lesson---she has to with our group, but she definitely ramped it up with the observation.
Good pool workout last night---know because my legs ached once I got into bed---LOL
Have a good Tuesday!

Ok Second window open, this should be easier. I did download the spark app to help track but its not very user friendly and it rejects most of the barcodes of products I buy ... then I have to enter it all manually - plus that program had tons of adds flashing on it so I will most likely delete it. Its not as beneficial as I hoped it would be.

Dianne, I sure hope that rains stops for you and your temps warm up, we are already on water rationing and we are also expecting a long dry summer, so the green now will turn brown. Already we have man made forrest fires and just this morning a homeless camp went up in flames around the corner across the bridge from me. Sad but no matter how much housing is put aside, some just want to be on their own. How did your hair cut turn out ?

Cathy do you have to work any extra days this year at all ? I bet you will be glad when you are done for the summer, when do you plan on retiring? Although I retired 2 years early I have no regrets for that, but what I did find out recently is that I have been paying for the benefits I had at work and did not know that LOL fortunately I have not needed them and since I pay 100% out of pocket I can declare on taxes, also unfortunately, my work pension keeps me from getting any other senior benefits like yearly bus pass, but I dont' mind. AND I have to pay tax to boot - 1300.00 this year - I arranged for more tax to come off at source so I can break even next year, we will see how that turns out. Have you looked into what you will get when you retire?

Terri, will Steve keep the truck? Why not a pink saw, my niece used to have a pink car !! I have seen pink cars too ... hope you had a good weekend !

Anne, busy as always, are you not ? Is your booklet done? That would really frustrate me ! Glad you had a some what quiet day for you yesterday, mine was go go go go ! rather I not but I did enjoy the Biodiversity Museum and the walking we did.

Betsy, how sad about your friend, definitely will include in my prayers. How was daycare today ? Did you have a good time, or busy time, how many charges do you have now ? Did you get everything done for the New York trip ?

I am going to go post a blog with more pictures from today. I already posted blog for yesterday ....

Good afternoon, its been a very busy two days for me the last two days. My sister is in a contest to get a free events pass book for next year and she has to visit these places with at least one person to get the stamps needed - we still have more to do next weekend but not so intense ! Yesterday was a 18,000+ day and I was wiped out BUT it was cool so I was not dehydrated! We went to UBC ( University of BC and I did do a blog on that one and today we went to the Concervatory and back to UBC Botanical Gardens. There was a trail called the Green Heart Trail which was suspended above the ground - not as high as the trees - and single person only passage, and boy was that a work out and a half, it swayed and you had to hold on almost all the way - and it bounced with each step !

After that trail we walked some other on ground trails and already wracked up 10,000 on my fitbit so I can cruize it this afternoon ! Next week is Steveston - a few events out there. Plus we ate at specialty places, one was two for one and I tried to track it as best I can - I told my sister I can already see where I can make improvement. The weather today was cool too and it was so nice in the botanical garden, so cool and the fragrances were amazing - all natural plants, nothing cultured where we were.

I'll just post this then get a second window open.

Morning! It poured rain here all day yesterday and it is still raining today. And we turned the heat back on. I think the plants I put in on Saturday will do okay--they have been growing outside all winter so no change of them--just more soil! I got to the pool class and worked hard--up to me how hard I work!

Anne--I expect you will get back to where you were with your exercises fairly quickly. Don't skimp!! And hope the booklets go quickly--glad you have so many gifts to auction off--or is it ticket draw? Glad you didn't have to get the permits for that stuff--the state permits in NJ take forever to get--really have to plan ahead!

Betsy--sorry about Tim. And glad you did connect with everyone. Guess I forgot that DD2 is heading to NY--how long will she be out this way?

Cathy--we never got to 80 so the dip back into the 40s isn't as dramatic but it had been decent weather--we have had over 2 inches of rain and that wasn't all needed. I am hoping we get farm shares soon--at least the greens should be getting ready since they use greenhouses and cold frames.

Terri--I will laugh if you get a pink chainsaw. It would have to be custom painted....maybe we should alert Steve to the need! LOL Glad you are making headway. DD1 went to a baseball game on Saturday--she isn't a fan either but I guess her DH wanted to go.

Lindie--hope you are feeling like you are back on track!!

I get a haircut later today--I do like how it looks now but it is getting in my way so--short!

Happy Monday, team! We had a really relaxing day yesterday and DS called so I heard from all our children. Sadly, I received a message that our friend Tim was ambulanced back to UW Hospital because he has blood clots in his lungs as well as the ones in his hips now. As I already mentioned the cancerous tumors did not respond to the initial treatment so continued prayers for Tim would be appreciated. Pack n Plays still need to be made and day care heat turned on so I must go but will do my best to return later. DD2 leaves for NY in one week so there's a lot going on today to get her ready as it is her only day off.

Cathy, I had 2 chats open so I could go back and forth, lol! Glad you had a down day yesterday! Hope the week isn't as long as you anticipate. Personally, I will be glad when it is Friday, 11:30 P.M.!

Dianne, I did receive breakfast in bed some Mother's Days. However, since I was usually the first one up I was just served breakfast at the table, lol! Nice not to have toast crumbs in my sheets, lol! Glad DD2 was able to join you in singing. Just one or two extra voices in a choir can make a difference! Dessert for breakfast...sweet! I think I would like to see the Young Frankenstein musical...I love the movie!

Terri, whoa, a man in your bed! LOL! Nice that Steve opted to stay. Hope he enjoys the new vehicle! Did Steve stay long or did he have to leave after church? I like the idea of a pink chainsaw...cracked me up that the boys asked what Steve would get you for Father's Day!

Betsy, glad the cleaning went well. I wonder if the Cultural Festival's rates to be part of it got too expensive or if the companies went out of business. Sorry the egg rolls were gone just a few people in line ahead of you! Silly people...why didn't then contact someone or send someone to get more cups for the juice!

Lindie, did you do anything special for Mother's Day?

It was a pretty quiet day here. I did get a lot of the stuff lined up for the booklet. I am thinking that the rectory printer can run 11x17 paper, so I can make the booklets into a book. Otherwise, it will be 8.5x11 stapled booklets. I'm conferring with the chairperson to make sure I have all the items and donors listed...I do not want to miss anyone or anything!

Mass this morning, then b-fast with at least 1 sister, hopefully both sisters! And exercises...I was not good this weekend. I hurt my back on Friday, pushed it a bit on Saturday morning when I straightened the office, low key on Sunday. However, once I felt the twinge on Friday I decided to go slow and only did a couple of the minimal muscle use exercises. Today my back feels okay, so I will do the expansion band ones in the morning and afternoon and the weights tonight. I hope the few days off don't mess with me, lol!

Have a good Monday!

Anne

Anne, you must have taken notes are gone back and forth---LOL Glad you did have help putting the baskets together---hopefully that other person has made up names for those baskets so you don't have to be creative. They sound like they are full of really nice goodies. Do you do an auction or what to sell them? Glad you took a break and got out to enjoy your friends' singing. Hope you figure out how to make the printing and info not so long a process. Would you take it somewhere to have it printed?
Betsy, sounds like a nice time. Hope this week goes smoothly for you. When does your Dh finish up teaching? I go until June 14th.
Terri, what did Steve think about what you and the boys have accomplished? Woohoo to the truck passing all the inspections already. What kind is it? Maybe you should take it over---LOL
Dianne, sounds like a nice time at the theater. It has turned cold here---well, maybe not to Betsy--and very wet. We might not even hit 60 today and it has been in the 80's most days before this so quite the difference. Nice that you got to sing with DD2 too. LOL to breakfast in bed. I have no desire to make a mess in my bed either. I am glad I haven't planted my vinca yet----they do not like these temps that are this coming this week.
Didn't do anything yesterday except for church. Dh was able to cook outside and I enjoyed my grilled burgers.
Back to work I go. Another long week ahead.

Happy Mothers Day! DD2 has left already-we have awful weather--rain and wind--LOTS of wind. DD2 brought me "breakfast in bed" cause I was teasing that I don't think they ever did--I am not one to want hot tea IN my bed. She had flowers, ice water (cause the hot tea wasn't ready) and leftover rhubarb crunch from her birthday dessert--it has fruit and oatmeal in it! I laughed and laughed and crawled back into bed to eat it! LOL WE had church and I love getting to sing with her in the choir. We sounded very good today! We stopped and got a pizza for lunch--we were the only ones in the place and joked with the guys while it cooked--that is OUR place. DD2 took 2 slices home for her dinner tomorrow.

Terri--glad you got the truck and even more glad that Steve likes it! Sounds like you have been busy. How are you doing your "low carb"?

Lindie--welcome back. I have been watching my weight go up (like way up....) so need to get really serious. I am tracking but haven't been measuring yet.

Cathy--happy birthday -- glad you received lots of love from family and co-workers. It is nice to be appreciated. I planted some daisies yesterday in pots--I had trimmed the tall pieces down and then rooted them--so had about 15 little ones to plant. They were so leggy when they started to green up--I cut the leggy parts off and started these babies. The pots will be full! I also planted some "primroses" that I had gotten from an acquaintance--the original ones were from a neighbor 38 years ago and had died out when the lawn service kept cutting them. I have had 3 in a pot--had over 20 little plants now and put about 15 in the ground--kept some in the pots. They are tall and yellow--I'll post photos later to see if you have a better name.

Anne--glad that things are getting done with out YOU have to do it all. You are a wonderful grandmother--you just want the birthday to take a few more days! I agree with that! I did receive a bouquet of knitting needles and crochet hooks from my DD2. No word yet from the other 2....

Betsy--glad you have had a good day! Go Sharks--they won game one! My DD1 just thinks the stress is going to get to her! LOL I hope she'll get the stick signed when they win the cup and she goes to see it. She did get to see it/get a photo when the NJ Devils won it in the early 2000s.

This week--haircut, a workshop on 18th Century life and one day at the park. Never know what age group till we get there. Oh--we saw Young Frankenstein the Musical last night. It was as close to the movie a they could get--but songs were added. It was silly and very well done. I enjoyed it and so did DD2 and the friend we had invited. We had a nice dinner here, had the rhubarb crunch for birthday "cake" and then went to the show. It was a late night--after 11 before we got home--but great fun.

Steve decided to stay the night with us in the canyon and drive his truck home today, so I had a man in my bed last night. He likes the truck but it's not what he expected. He says it drives like a car (nice) and doesn't feel like a truck. The inspections are all done and it's passed the smog test. The auction company takes care of that and all the DMV paperwork, so I don't have to go stand in line at the DMV office. The plates will come in the mail, as will the new title and I have all the temporary papers to make it legal to drive in the meantime.

Time to feed my men and get ready for church.

Happy Mother's Day!

Anne, the cleaning that was done went well, most of it was straightening and that helped a lot. DD2 enjoyed the Cultural Festival but some of her favorite foods were missing so she really missed the mango ice cream from India. DD1 and I only went to get a Hmong egg roll and some amazing juice for her but they ran out of egg rolls a few people ahead of us in line and there was plenty of juice but they had no cups!

Cathy, I chose quiche, fried potatoes and fresh fruit for brunch with lemonade champagne. We are all working on it together but mostly DD1 and DH. Actually he told me I wasn't supposed to help and I told him I got to do whatever makes me happy and he agreed. We will go to Mass at eight but the pie crust is baking and he's got the potatoes and onions chopped and soaking in water.

Terri, congratulations on winning the bid on the truck and on having boys willing to continue working!

Lindie, yes, I got my tea latte and it was delicious. I am not a fan of the new rewards program either but since I rarely go there, it doesn't matter. I get most of my points from giving my card to other family members to purchase for themselves. I did not get everything done but I did put a dent in the list.

Time to fix my hair and get to Mass, DD1 is awake so I'll have at least one child with me for worship.

Have a super Sunday! emoticon

Happy Mother's Day!

Cathy, glad the kids got the tablets an extra day (and maybe more)! You got quite the stash of great gifts for your birthday! I like the orange and white carnations! What a great idea! Are you sad that you there isn't more to sell and care for at the greenhouses. I guess it is good, though, since the school year is ending soon.

Lindie, guess none of us will call you, Linny, then, lol! I think I will join Cathy and call you Lindie, since most likely my brain will go in that direction! Glad you are back! Gene must have been elated when he got told under $400! Nice way to spend time with your sister. I haven't tracked for a long time...wonder if I want to now, lol! I'm sure you (and maybe me) will get the hang of it again! Nice to know that Charise is doing okay and enjoying her new home. Is she still making jewelry?

Terri, congrats on having the winning bid! Best wishes to you and Steve with your new to you truck! Since you seem to have much more work to do at the canyon it is great that the boys wanted to stay with you and continue getting things done!

Betsy, did the housecleaning go well? Will add Kate to the prayer chain! Hope it goes well for her. Maybe it is good that Landon won't be tested before 2.5 years, especially if he is starting to understand some things. Thank you for saying I'm not a rotten grandmother...actually I did try and would have been ahead of the game there had been some ideas on Amazon or if I had read V's text message correctly and then just acted upon it! Hope everyone enjoyed the Cultural Festival!

Dianne, hope your dh is feeling himself again! Vaccines can make you wonky! Sounds like feast or famine at that place. And 10 groups of 2nd graders! Ooof! Did they appreciate the place? Was dh able to troubleshoot the issue with the computer?

I did have help putting the baskets together. There were 8 of us there. It was still, in my opinion, a daunting task! I am in the process of getting the booklet together. I tried printing off what I had done and whoa! was I surprised...it came out as separate sheets! Of course, I was not printing the entire booklet, so maybe it will look different once it is finished. I am currently adding all the auction items...however, I do not have what was in the baskets to group them. I will have to check with the person that did that list and ask her to forward them to me...maybe she has even named the baskets so that I can have a nice title to introduce it.

Yesterday, I got a package off to Fr. B, straightened out the remaining items that need to be packed. They were all in his office, but some were on his desk, others on the floor, and others on the bookcase. His sister and her son are supposed to be going there today to finish up. I think she will not be as over-whelmed as she has been. The Scouts are supposed to help move the rest of Fr. B's things that need to go downstairs on Monday. Another day or so and it will be finished.

In the meantime, Fr. J and his parents were there Friday and Saturday moving some of his things into Fr. B's suite. I think I mentioned it before, Fr. J wanted to move over to that side of the building because it is sunnier. I know I would prefer that suite, lol!

I did take a break last night and met Rich and his wife at a nearby restaurant to listen to Jodi and Alex sing. It was a good break!

Time to enter a few more things on the Auction List page and then go to Mass. I will go to the 9:30 with a copy of what I've accomplished so far for the chairperson to check out. I do need his input on a few things with the booklet. Used to be called a brochure, but it has way too much stuff going in it now!

Hope you all enjoy your Mother's Day!

Anne

Dianne, I ran a bit of a fever, too, plus very exhausted and read the instructions afterwards and saw that that could happen with the new shots--Thankfully it didn't last long. I will get the 2nd shot during the summer when I won't have to worry about missing any school time or waste a weekend. No wonder you were tired after so many kids. Going out today?
Betsy, guess you got busy. Maybe training is paying off for Landon. Some kids do take longer. Hope you are enjoying some dominoes or some game with your family today. I think I remember that your dd1 is cooking for you today. I was very surprised with some of my gifts.
Terri, congrats on winning the auction. Did you have to go to your limit? Does the truck get a temporary tag until it gets inspected so that Steve can drive it home? Nice that the fire class gets paid for by the company. Hmmm, do they make a pink chain saw? LOL I told you the kids like being able to cool off in the creek---heehee. Very glad you have help there with you. I am sure Steve is also glad that you are not alone there.
LIndie, so nice that you can go visit those gardens. I will be planting more next weekend here and I am sure I will be bringing several home from church today to plant. Yes, we sold the house last summer---as is---mainly for the value of the property since it is in Worcester County is was valued at over 50,000 for just .36 acres. They remodeled it and made repairs----looked online and they have lowered their price already one time and I am sure they will have to lower it again even though it is in that county as I think it is overpriced for the size if it. It was only valued at 72000 on the tax record with the house being worth about 18000 of that total. Where Charise lives is definitely more expensive than where I live in MD, but having heard what you pay for things in Vancouver, it is definitely a bit cheaper there. Are they still together? Maryland does have a lot to offer. Figure in a day you can go from the beach to the mountains in a long day of driving.
Church is planned for today, then not sure about eating today--have to see how the weather is. Hope everyone has a lovely Mother's Day.

You can call me anything but "late for dinner" as I wont' answer to that LOL emoticon and what ever you are comfortable with is fine with me, Linda is my legal name, and Lindie is a nick name on line only. My sister calls me Linny and then ducks ! LOL

Terri congrats on the win of the bid, I hope Steve likes the truck and it was worth the investment for him. I hope you had fun, but no doubt you were anxious as well. Safe travels and yes the tracking will get better. Right now everything is going in the tracker which means weighing out and not guessing if possible. I really just want to track what goes in my mouth, and then I will look at the results in a couple of weeks and start shopping my calories better. Like you I do low carb, BUT can get sucked in to carbs on various days like today, I had a plain sour cream donut from tim horton's its my fav - no icing - everywhere else I go has icing on them and I dislike icing ...

Dianne, hope your DH is feeling better and that he and your daughter can figure out the computer issues. I have one lap top as a spare but it gets really hot and the battery does not charge anymore. The HP ( I hate ) I use now gets hot but its up on a platform so it does get air - once this one goes that is it, it will be phone only. I have the Iphone X and love the face recognition, great for when I am out in public and I do not have to put in a code ... I can also open some programs in that. Hope your day went well.

Betsy did you get everything done that you planned to do ? Did you get your item at Starbucks? They changed their reward program and I lost a good reward, so I am not so anxious now to buy anything there.

Cathy, was anyone living in your mom's house ? Did you all sell the house? I ment to tell you that Charise has a summer placement to obtain university credits for Environmental Science - she switched majors when she moved there and she really likes it. By the way she loves living in Maryland too and most likely will stay there. We did ask her if she was coming home any time soon, and she said Vancouver is too expensive to live there ... guess we have lost her to the south ! I did see her at March Break though, she went to Montreal for a week and then came to Vancouver, we spent some time together and toured a few museums.Looks like we won't see her this summer, but that's ok, she has to live her life eh .... Hope your day went well - there was lots of orange at the gardens yesterday .. will be touring another garden at UBC on Monday.

Anne hope all is well and your recovery is going good, did you get everything done as well ?

Well I better go do some stepping as I am behind and its a weekend challenge that I am in .. do any of you do these ?

We won the bid and Steve now has a new used truck. DS &DIL1 are on their way to pick him up and drive him toward Sacramento. The boys and I will drive toward Redding and meet them part way. I'll being Steve back to Sacramento and he'll drive the truck back home while the boys and I go back to the canyon. They aren't ready to go home, so we'll stick to our plan of going home next week.

We didn't work in the yard yesterday. By the time we got home, it was too hot and the boys had their laptops to do their school work on, so that's what they did while I knitted on a sock. Tim and I are up and moving, but Pablo is still asleep. I'll give him another 30 minutes and then get him up so we can get on the road. I want to make sure we get to the auction and get a good seat in plenty of time. It will be exciting to bid and I sure hope we get Steve a truck. I told the boys it would be for Mother's day. Tim asked, "Then what will he get YOU for Father's Day?" I replied, "A pink chick (chain) saw". I've been telling the boys that I need one for some of the work they're doing.

Lindie, the tracking is tedious when you're first getting started and don't have anything in your favorites. It's a little bit easier if you tend to eat the same things all the time, but still takes time to get there. But tracking is the best way to get a handle on what we're actually putting into our mouths. I'm off track right now because I don't have a computer down here and it's a real pain to do it with my phone. For now, I'm just sticking to low-carb and am losing, so it's working in spite of not tracking.

Steve is attending a fire safety class today in order to get his certification renewed. It's required for anyone who wants to work on a fire crew and the boss at the construction company he works for pays for the class for all of his employees.

Time to get dressed and moving. Have a great weeked!

Good morning! DD1 should be here in an hour or two. I requested that she clean the first floor of the house with help fro her sister. The annual Cultural Festival is also today so they will break it up into chunks. I also want DD1 to clean her rom because her college roommate, one of our "other" children is staying here Tuesday night because she has an interview at UW Stevens Point! Prayers for a successful interview for Kate are welcome. Dela's aunt will most likely be part of the interviewing team so it is killing me not to say anything to her but I know better, still tough.

Dianne, sorry your husband had a bad reaction to the shingles shot, I had never heard of that happening for that one. Enjoy your time with DD2.

Cathy, all your goodies for your birthday sound perfect, how nice that so many people remembered you in such kind ways. Trust me, Landon has thrown plenty of silverware and I tried getting him to use a spoon but he won't accept guidance and ALWAYS turns it over or holds it in his hand to make it move back and forth and either way he loses the food. He still does that sometimes with the fork too but he is getting much better. I have had to load the fork and hand it to him for over a month now so yesterday's achievement was huge. They will not test him to see if he qualifies for early childhood classes until he is 2 1/2 so no diagnosis has been made.

Terri, it's good that your dad taught you what to do with a car, I would be stuck calling AAA or another mechanic. Good luck at auction today.

Lindie, that's how I think of you as well but I will follow whatever you advise. Tracking should come easier to you once you have done it for a while.

Anne, I forgot to say you are not a rotten grandmother, children enjoy gifts at any time. V can also explain to her that you are still recovering from surgery and Kat's lucky to get a gift at all! How old is she now?

DH and I are going to head to Starbucks to see if my tea latte is in stock, always a gamble . We are also going to Walgreen's to pick up some photos that I ordered to fix Landon's mothers day gift and make a new one for Michael. I could not find a photo of Landon smiling but figured out yesterday that if I put it on selfie mode, he smiles beautifully because he can see what's happening. There are lots of other things to do today but I'll save that for bullet points later.

Have a Super Saturday!

I thought I had posted!! The Thursday groups were 2nd grade and I did 10 groups! I was tired! Hubby got the new shingles shot on Wednesday and came home from work early cause he was achy and feverish.(Better now.) I spent time at the home yesterday and sang with my people. DD2 arrived about 9. She is trying to fix up her computer and the one part still isn't working so it may be something else wrong. Hubby is troubleshooting. I am at my step class.

I will try to catch up with comments at home cause phone is too hard!

Anne, glad you had help filling them and just had to wrap them---but didn't you need help with that too? I have wrapped a few baskets---think Easter---and knew I would have been glad for an extra hand at times, just to hold it closed while i sealed the top. Did you make J help? LOL I do know better! Any plans for the weekend? When is this wine festival with the baskets?
Betsy, Some kids are slow with the fork and spoon---mostly because the parents just want to get dinner over with and just feed them instead of letting them do it---plus since he throws things, it might have been safer, too----LOL But great news that he is finally learning how to play with others in a better way. Any more news on his testing? What do the people think that come to work with him? I hope you have a nice weekend and that your dh rests and feels a lot better.
Dianne, was it that bad that you couldn't come on? LOL
Terri, hope you get it at the auction and that the cost is less than your maximum. Did the boys enjoy the steak for breakfast? Did they think you were nuts? LOL Guessing you were tired from the trip to need a nap. Hope that spot is the only problem you have and that it is taken care of by that cream. Are you having the boys bath using that stuff, too? You might want to have a big supply of that for the new place once you start doing more stuff there.
Lindie---sorry, but that is what I always call you---it suits you better, too. LOL How was the Garden? That sounds like a nice day out. Nice to get a treat like that now and then. Glad your sister found another place----no surprise about the other part about her. Glad Gene's car was less than he thought it would be. Which Kia does he have?
I had a lovely day yesterday. Thank you for all the birthday goodies and wishes. One teacher that comes to our room often bought me a whole container of Chocolate covered Strawberries---I shared with others and still came home with 3---they are huge---and very good. I got cards from several people there. Patrick that used to be in our room last year made me a card. My friend June brought me a card and a bag of M and M's ---she knows we need chocolate to survive in the school system.. Amy had a whole bag of goodies for me---several signs , some solar lights, a new gardening hat and gloves, some sudoku books, and a gift card for Chick-fil-a. I had balloons and she got me a lemon cake. Mr. Price made sure I got my coke Icee---yum!
Dh got me some orange and white carnations and the dvd of "The Greatest Showman". My sister paid for dinner out. We all had the roast beef and dumplings and I also got the lima bean, corn, and dumpling soup. We brought enough home that I won't need to cook tonight either. I didn't get dessert, I was too full. But I did get a plate of the coconut muffins to have here at home---they are so good.
No one came and got the tablets---we had them ready for pick-up---so we let the kids use them again---if they want them they will have to come get them---LOL That made the day so much easier. We did have the kids make cards and a nice card. They also had their marigold plants---most have buds on them but only one in bloom.
Heading to the greenhouses for the last time---not sure how long I will stay---we won't have much to sell but sure he will have everything half off---usually does for the last Saturday just to get rid of stuff that is left. I do want to get the 2 plants from the school in the ground today and hopefully clean some on the porch---haven't sat out there because of all the pollen.
Have a lovely Saturday.

I forgot what a pain tracking food is, even with fitbit or spark ! and they make it so difficult to do a recipe now I get lost ! Well I will try my best and the numbers might be inflated but it will give me something to work with. Today seems like a heavy food day - a scone at the Gardens did me in but it was oh so good ! My sister paid.

Terri, he knew what he did was wrong, he said his aunt was annoying him and telling him to hurry as she had to get to work - I told him CALL KIA ... right from the start .. this one cost him under 400 - and next time he WILL call KIA ...

Glad you had fun at auction, have not been to one in years ! Time to go eat dinner, good night everyone.

Linda, my dad taught me how to put the cables on my battery when I was 16, and he warned me never to allow anyone else to do it for me in case they mixed them up. I'm so sorry for Gene and hope it didn't "fry" anything.

The boys and I had fun walking around the auction grounds and wished we'd been there sooner with a trailer! LOL We could've had all kinds of fun! I sat in the truck, started it, and played with all the buttons and knobs while on the phone with Steve. I'm going to go back down tomorrow for the auction and bid on it. We have a ceiling, so I'll bid up to that. If we win, he'll drive down here next week to pick it up.

We just got back to the house and the boys are going to do school for a couple of hours before cutting more brush. I may take a nap!

Terri, I loved that Art Linkletter show, glad you enjoyed Dela's answers. I hope your itchy patch clears up quickly.

Linda, so hard not to write Lindie, I am glad most of your tests were good but worry about the one you aren't sharing. Prayers will be said on your behalf for a positive outcome.

Landon is still somewhat of a throwing monster with anything he can get his hands on BUT today...drumroll, please..at age 27 1/2 months, he fed himself his entire lunch with a fork! emoticon He also played a simple catch game with me and tried to play a rolling game with Nellie. You have no idea how happy this makes me!!!! Next up, spoon practice.

Betsy, I love the answers she gave you for the questions. Reminds me of the old Art Linkletter show, "Kids Say the Darndest Things ".

Today, I want to run down the hill to Sacramento to look at a truck for Steve. It's at an auction place that I've followed for a couple of years now, and I've seen some good deals go through there as i watched the auction live on the internet. Now I'm actually here, so can go and check things out in person and see what I think. The boys might enjoy that. First, we have to drop the wire off at the dump and take Dad's truck back and get my car. I want to do this thing early so we can get home before the Friday traffic kicks in. It's a nightmare on Highway 50 on Fridays as all the city dwellers head toward the mountains and Lake Tahoe. Tim is up, working on his laptop (school work) but I might have to shake Pablo out of bed. I have some tater tots in the oven and will broil the steaks while I cook the eggs. Then we'll jam outta here.

Anne, I'd never be able to figure out all the computer programs you do and no one would want to buy--or bid on--anything I wrapped! I think you're a rock star!

Happy birthday, Cathy. What will you have for dinner? I hope your mom's house is well cared for. That will make your heart happy.

I have a small itchy patch under my left arm this morning, so I put some topical poison oak spray on it. I'll wash with the Tecnu again today to get any oil residue that might be remaining, but I'm not miserable. And the little bit of it h is worth it for all the improvement I'm seeing out there. Steve's going to be impressed when I show him the pictures.

Time to run.

Good morning everyone, I just dropped on to track my breakfast, only 30 calories over 400 - not my usual breakfast. I am actually also tracking my eating preferences as well as pattern. I see everyone is busy today so have a good and safe day.

I will give you a brief update on myself - is there such a thing? Not with my family LOL

Recently I went to a doctor to have some blood work done and that came back good. The doctor's only concern at this point is my weight and we both agree on diet and exercise - so I will be tracking for the next few weeks to give him something to look at when I go back for a physical. However one test did come back not good and I am waiting for that dreaded test ... more on that when it happens ...

Gene is taking his car to Kia today - he has to have it towed, the battery died and he tried to boost it with cables but crossed the cables and blew fuses so now it has to go in. He's not happy as the tow truck and what not will cost him $700.00 if not more - he's more concerned about the warranty being affected more then anything else. He's also working days now no more nights at this time, he is contracted out to the city through his employer and so he works set hours and no where near the overtime he was getting plus its on what they call a living wage.

My sister was with us for a while but got her own place - Gene helped her and loaned her $$ then a dispute arose, I tried to stay out of it, anyway they straightened it out - today she is taking me to Van Dusen Gardens, down the road from me as she has tickets to get in there, so I will enjoy that plus there are some other venues we will be going and I will be her guest.

They predict a dry summer here this year so we are already on water restrictions.

I better go finish my tracking, thank you for the warm welcome back emoticon have a wonderful and peaceful day today ! emoticon

Anne, if the baskets are wrapped, how can anyone open packages inside of them? Ours are always shrink wrapped and there's a person on duty walking around to be sure everyone behaves but I have never seen anyone try to open one. My guess on the Chinese food is the MSG. Chinese food never used to bother me but I often feel ill after eating take out Chinese food now as well.

Terri, thanks for the clarification on your name, I am sure it was autocorrect changing it. Will you celebrate Mothers Day when you go back to the log home?

Cathy, Game of Thrones is not for us either, we watched the first episode and had no desire to watch another. Please explain why you need to be at your school for Reagann to attend, isn't public school for everyone? Is it because yours is a better school than the one she is zoned for?

Since Dela is the only one who is old enough to answer questions about her mother, I asked her and thought I would share some of her four year old answers. How old is your mom? 45 ( pretty sure she is closer to 35) How tall is she? 4 feet 5 inches ( more like 5' 1" ) What is Mom's favorite thing to do? Go to work My favorite one answered with no prompting and after hours of thought... What would you tell your mom if you could only tell her one thing? I would tell her I love her! emoticon

Cathy, I was part of the team that did up baskets. Fortunately they figured out what to put together. I helped wrap them, lol! I did pick up supplies at Michaels because I was over that way. The brochure I was going to do while on medical leave, but there wasn’t enough info yet. I have it started, so hopefully it will come together easily...but I still need to learn the ins and outs of the program.

Terri, it's the getting to play in the creek when hot that is keeping them going----LOL Yikes to the poison oak---hope your shower took care of that. Hope you can get that burn pile taken care of while there. Yeah to your wifi mysteriously working.
Betsy, that sounds like the perfect present so I get it. I don't really need anything but the stuff for my garden is always welcome. Glad you will stay home for your Day---sounds nice and glad dd1 will be home for it. Enjoy the berries. Sounds like a rough week for you---hope you can relax. And Dh must really feel bad---he should have taken Monday off.
Dianne, homeschoolers would listen better because those parents generally don't allow otherwise. Hope today's group has some kids who are interested. I bet half of them will be on cell phones if old enough to have one.
Anne, what a headache! I hope the figures finally balance out---but if not it is their problem, you can't make it appear. How come you are the one stuck making the baskets and printing out the whole thing again? Haven't you learned better yet? LOL That sounds like a lot of work! Hope you get some rest this weekend. Are you finding time to do your exercises?
My sister called last night---to wish me an early happy Birthday---and to tell me she finally got a job---just a summer one but that is all she wants---and it is not in Ocean City which makes her happy---at a campground on Rt. 50---she starts on Saturday---so she is going to meet us for dinner today---I have decided to go to Barbley's for my birthday--down near my Mom's house---so I will drive by it and see if anyone is living in there now.
I was so tired I did take a nap after I got home---then dh cooked burgers out on the grill---it was warm here yesterday and will be today, too. But we will cool down for several days after today. No plans for Sunday yet---told Dh if it rains, we can go to a fast food place for dinner---I don't mind that on Mother's Day.
Lindie, hope you post and tell us all Hi!
TGIF! OH, WE are getting a new student on Monday----know nothing about him---coming from another state. Also we are losing our special cart of tablets---the kids will have to learn to look at books etc. Be much better for some of them.

Good morning!
Terri, I'd like to be at your breakfast this morning! Glad the sick worked, but I'd double check to make sure there is no bill for it not being properly put on vacation mode. Sounds like the boys are enjoying the work.

Bdtsy, I wonder if auto-correct changed the spelling of the name from Terri to Terry on Dianne? I have to keep proofreading my words on my Kindle and phone. Things there change more than on my computer. Glad you and th are enjoying tea & tv time! Glad you were ready when the kids came yesterday...hope you will be ready again today. Amen to your T.G.I.F.!

J & I were both late getting home last night, so we got Chinese food. I did not think I ate too much, but my tummy was not happy after I went to bed. Up early again! Lots to do again. Exercises and off to work!

Have a good Friday!

Anne

I wasn't going to say anything because it's a common mistake, but my name is spelled with an "i" like my username. Thanks for asking.

I am sitting in the living room in the canyon house and my wifi is working. It shouldn't be because I put it on vacation until further notice--but here it is. Funny but Strange.

The boys have already gone off to bed and I'm on my way. I'd bought steaks to broil for dinner tonight, but was too tired to cook so they may get steak and eggs for breakfast. I'm much more ambitious in the morning than after a long day of yard work.

No plans here for Mother's day. The boys aren't in a hurry to get home, so we'll probably stay until the middle of next week, at least. If they get tired of manual labor, they might change their minds, but so far, they're rising to the challenge.

Terri, how nice that you have such helpful grandson, I need some of those! I noticed Dianne changed the spelling of your name to Terry, which is it?

Linda, welcome back !

Anne, don't you wish you could just be done with registers and cash? Tea and TV was nice last night so we did it again briefly tonight.

Dianne, hurray for the Sharks! I saw on Facebook that you had quite a busy day, I hope you sleep well.

Cathy, Michael should know his mother, great gift for you! You asked if I was tired or busy and the answer is a resounding YES. DH is still down so I am still working double duty as he helps out a lot around here. He told me tonight he plans to go back to the walk in clinic tonight and for him, that's huge. I told him to let them know our eldest has virus induced asthma and inquire if he might have that too. it will be nice when he can finally establish with a primary again, one month to go.

My plan was to get here earlier tonight but the darn Mothers Day craft needed finishing so I spent most of my evening doing that. I did get jeans washed and took a break to watch a show with DH but that was it.

Does anyone have Mothers Day plans? DD1 is coming home Saturday and Sunday and she'll make brunch on Sunday after Mass. We will probably grill something simple for supper.
DS may or may not appear but he will be here next Sunday. Since we have a joint e mail account, I did see that I am getting something delicious via UPS tomorrow, so much for the 5% challenge. Oh well, Shari's Berries are worth cheating and some extra work to lose the weight. DH promised he got nothing else because we have those season tickets for the musicals next year and that's just the way I wanted it.

TGTIF- Thank God Tomorrow is Friday!

Welcome back Linda!

Anne, the boys are strong young men now, ages 15 and 17. They are doing a nasty job of taking rusty old wire off the fence posts in another part of the field and loading it into Dad's truck. I won't have them pull those posts out, but they are cutting away a lot of brush and small trees that have taken over the fence line. We'll pile all the brush in the field and I'll burn it if we have a safe burn day. Things aren't too dry yet, but it won't be long. My dad says its supposed to rain again next week , so that would ensure fire safety and allow me to get rid of a lot of mess.

I ran the other weed eater for 2 hrs this morning and afternoon while the boys did their project. I cut a LOT of poison oak, so I came in and showered with my Tecnu Extreme poison oak wash to get the oil off me. By that time, the boys were taking a break and had gone down to play in the creek. They'll go back to work when the sun starts to go down.

Dianne, I hope the groups coming today are more receptive than you expect! I am no expert with baskets...after last night, I don't care if I ever see another basket, lol!

I was thrown a curveball when I got to the gas station. The kid that left at 8:00 took his wad of cash with him...$411! I was just starting the paperwork on that drawer when the info about the missing money came in. Sadly, I did not hit the adding machine's # 1 hard enough when running some totals and thus, I thought the shift was $100+ short. I put the paperwork aside to wait for him to bring the money in, just in case he counted wrong. While waiting I checked the Sunoco portal for Monday's credit card sales amounts hoping to get a batch that wasn't recorded there yesterday...nope, not there! To top it off, Tuesday's credit card figures weren't there yet either! Grrrrr! I will check again tomorrow and if they aren't there, the owner will have to contact his rep! I went back through my paperwork for that drawer and discovered my mistake, filled in and filed that needed to be done, then left. It was too late to go to the grocery store, so I went to the church and got the things I left in the hall's kitchen and put them in my car, then went home and...Yay! I figured out how to get a Title on a brochure that someone made. I only wrecked 2 of them (didn't put the brochures into the printer in a correct way to get the print where I wanted it). The rest worked out fine! I now need to print out the pictures of the gift card combos that we took to put in frames for the silent auctions. Then the grocery store, lol! Busy, busy, busy!

Hope we all can have a few minutes to relax during our workday!

Anne

Morning! Yesterday was a group of 40--homeschool kids and parents. It was nice--4 groups so I got to teach about 1 hours 20 minutes! Out of 5+ hours.... I did some reading inbetween.
Going up again today--it will be 120-ish kids from public school--they are not too receptive but a few will be. Grey today--may rain.

Betsy--Sharks won and I think Pav played. Glad you are dressed today!

Cathy--there is a lot to understand before retiring. We should be okay with SS and DH pension--then we have the IRA money as well.

Terri--hope something pops up with the trimmer so you can fix it. Glad Rosie is getting her meds!

Anne--I was never one to do the baskets--not my area of expertise! You are jill-of-all-trades!

Hope you all have a good day!

Cathy, hope the kids figure out who the better teacher is! Glad you enjoyed the lamb! Sorry there was not an announcement. Michael is probably is being a little cautious.

Betsy, I hope you enjoyed the tea and tv time!

Terri, good place to take a break! The library! The boys must be very strong! Good job so far. Too bad about the weed eater!

Dianne, hope all went well with the traffic and the trip was worth it! Were the students receptive to the reenactment?

We got quite a few baskets put together last night! I have most of the info for the brochure...now to get it all laid out and printed! Time to exercise, shower, work, PT, then back to work.

Have a good day!

Dianne, hope the kids came even if raining---otherwise I know you were bored. There is a lot to learn about retirement. We all have to sign up for Medicare Part A at age 65 even though we are not reitred then, but we don't have to do part B until we no longer have private insurance and there is no penalty if you have private insurance but there is if you wait and don't have it---I know in MD if you make very little on SS that the state will pay for your part B---my mom qualified for that---but not until you have gone thru your retirement money---that is why she didn't keep money in the bank---if you have over 2500 in the bank you don't qualify. I know we make too much to qualify so it doesn't matter to us but it does matter to a whole lot of people. These are just things I have picked up from other people. I know I might go to the retirement advance planning next year at work---you can go 2 years before retiring---right now that is the plan unless my staying will allow Reagann to stay in public schooling---since she is supposed to come to the middle school I work at.
Terri, glad you got in a trip to the library to catch up with us. Sounds like quite a lot done already---bummer about that weed eater. Hope the boys have no trouble getting more of the fence posts out. Are you planning on using them at the new place?
Betsy. are you just tired or still trying to catch up with weekend stuff? We are supposed to have a wet weekend again---mostly Sunday.
Had a nice dinner---I got my lamb shank---huge ---I brought some of it home. No announcement though. Michael also gave me 2 Mickey Mouse things to put outside. The boy does know what his mom likes---LOL
School day went okay. Kids did lots of work with me---LOL I am sure they will be glad she is back today.

I have read everything and see things are fairly normal for everyone. It is pouring here and DH has invited me to have a cup of tea with him and watch something on TV so that's where I am headed.

We had lunch with Dad today as his step-daughter and dh were in town in their way back to Phoenix and he wanted us to be part of that. From there, we came to the library where Tim wants to get a book to read, so I'm catching up with you.

We ran the mower and two weed eaters last night and got a lot done. One of the weed eaters quit working, though, and we couldn't get it started again. Not sure what's going on there, but might have to take it in for service, or take it home with me for Steve to do. The boys pulled out 2 old fence posts too. Only 30 more to go...

I cut half a dozen artichokes from my plants and left at least that many to get bigger. The trees look good and Dad said were supposed to get more rain next week, so they are getting watered so far.

Steve did get the meds into Rosie last night and again this morning. I called him to check and to remind him to give her the heartworm prevention too, as I forgot to do it before I left.

Not sure how long we'll be here yet. Mother's day is Sunday, but it depends on how much we get done. I have more metal to take to the recycling and will use Dad's truck when the time comes. There's a lot of old wire on the fence posts that I want removed, so I'll wait until that's all collected.

Time to get these boys out of the library so we can finish our errands and get back to the house.
