Good morning Friends, yes Cathy, I agree on the keyboard on laptops which is why I have wireless keyboard and mouse - I never could get used to the mouse, but Charise sure can use these things with no hinderance at all !! You have accomplished a lot with your cleaning, so I hope you have a fun day today - cleaning is not fun but necessary lol

Dianne, I can only wear runners at this point as they do not make real sandles for orthotics and I am tempted to stop wearing them because they limit me in foot wear - the only sandles I have that can take them have velcros for the fastening and my feet are so wide/fat that half that shows and catches on things and gathers dust too ! And they cost me over 200 !! I would love to be able to order online ! Enjoy that music tonight, I would love to attend something like that ... however, I am not a fan of crowds ...

Betsy, shall we call you the "sandqueen" lol Enjoy your time with your family, I agree with you about your sil - she is still family and really you can't control other peoples actions, you can only control how you react to those actions. My sister was just here, she needed milk, bread, and eggs, I have neither so we went to safeway and I bought her some - she is trying to budget but her raise did not come as she expected. I suggested she not plan on things she does not have yet - at least she did not ask for money, as she knows I will not buy her or give her money for tobacco products. Are there any wedding plans for Simone and your son ?

Terri you have been busy again ! It's unfortunate about the lack of sleep and being cold - temps dropping unusually? I love mochas but I get the decafe ones - even those still have about 3% caffine in them but I can handle that. I hope everything works out ok for Anna and I wonder if the young man was feeling intimidated by your family since none of his really showed up. Hopefully he will settle down and accept guidance from your sons. It's really hard to say if he will take to mentoring or not, it may most likely have to happen gradually - and it also depends on his idea of "family" or what kind of fostering he had - he's not too old he can not learn. Have you had a chance to have a heart to heart with Anna? Sometimes a grandmother is easier to talk to especially if they feel they won't be judged. I know you will love that baby. And I hope its not the Florence Nightingale issue that Anna thinks she can be what he needs to be happy, so many women make that mistake, I know I did ! No matter how muich guidance you give your children when raising them, they eventually use their "free will" their way - sometimes its a blessing and sometimes it's not. Just pray for the best ! I hope you can get the things done with your house so you can put it on the market - I thought I read somewhere that the real estate in CA has soured - its a cycle like anything else - but I hope its still good in your area. I hope you can get a good night's sleep as well tonight !

I have never heard of rotisary turkey ! I have not found that hear, maybe I need to renew my costco memebership LOL OH MY I would LOVE that lol

Anne, I hope you are enjoying your weekend !

I am out to lunch today with a sister from our congregation. I picked up a bouquet of flowers to take - a combination of yellow and light lavender ! Have a good one all !!

Hi, all! Done with church--hubby and I sang a duet for the single service--had nice applause. I don't think it 100% appropriate but I do like knowing that people enjoyed the music. I love singing with him!

And he will have cataract surgery as soon as we can get it scheduled between vacation and cruise. Doctor can't see the retina of his eye to decide how much the cataract surgery will help but--it needs to be done! So--I will let you know when.

Betsy--sounds like you are super busy. You are not considering Simone as family yet? Good for you to get the cleaning done but..I guess I do the same when any daughter is coming home now. (Maybe not DD2 as she is around a lot.) The sand sounds like fun and glad you got a lawn tractor. Enjoy the brunch.

Lindie--I hope you get used to the new laptop. I agree with Cathy--I like my desktop and will keep one for quite awhile yet! I do replace my running shoes regularly but the ones I need to replace are the sandals that feel so comfy and a pair of heels that are also very comfy--I will be looking on-line to see if I can find them.

Cathy--I do wish I had a garden but just saw two fawns outside--that is why I do NOT have a garden. Enjoy your tomatoes.

Terri--busy, busy. Glad you can find someone who will take some of the jobs off Steve's plate. Hopefully Anna's young man will understand and step up to being a good father--or show it soon enough that Anna will step back. How is the other ggchild? Are the parents still together? And maybe it was Winters--I don't know--never did get a map out. They are now in Oregon.

Anne--do be careful with mold. Glad you got a massage--yes, it will feel wonderful when it stops hurting! Those are the best kind--you know you made a difference!

Off to do some errands and then going to hear the symphony under the stars tonight!

Dianne

Cathy, I have a huge play area for sand but my cherubs have been so young that it hasn't been used for a couple of years. DH didn't want too much weight in the outback so we only took four bags at a time. Once we get the sand area weeded, it will need 30-50 more bags of sand. When we bought this property, the owners of our house that burned had a horseshoe game set up in the backyard so I just converted it into a "sandbox." Michael and Nicholas LOVED it.

DS and Simone arrived just past midnight and went straight to bed after I gave them some warm towels fresh from the dryer. They want to go swimming this morning but the skies are dark and there's thunder rumbling in the distance, darn! I asked if they would like more peaches to take home but she declined stating they had enough and she was planning to make a cobbler with what was left. They don't need a pie as well so I think I will just make one this afternoon and we can share it with DD1.

DH is on jury duty for the month of July but we still haven't received any directives in the mail. They were supposed to be here by the end of June! My guess is there is no court this week due to the holiday but it would be nice to have that confirmed.

Cathy, even if DSIL is sometimes difficult, she is still family and I am happy to attend brunch with her along with my girls. She bought a social membership to the Country Club and is very excited to show me the renovations they have done in the dining area. I have already seen them at an Aspiring Women event but I am just playing along as it is easier.

DH has today and tomorrow off so if I haven't caught up with everyone by then, I will do it on Tuesday when he and DD2 are at work.

DH just got home from early Mass, I am going tonight at 6. The plan is to take DD2 but she is in an uproar over that because that's where she met Malachi and says she is never going to set foot in that church again. emoticon

Have a super Sunday!

Betsy

Dianne, that is why it's called an idiot light---LOL---but I find men are more apt to ignore that than us ladies---guess we don't want to be broken down by the side of the road. Hope it was a nice place where they had to stop for repairs. Throw a sheet over her stuff so you can ignore it---LOL Plus you will be gone for part of the time anyhow.
Lindie, 11 more days and then I head up to Joy's. Have a doctor's appointment, need to schedule an oil change and check up for my car, and want to get my hair cut before I go along with cleaning. Hope you like the new laptop. I don't like using them myself---the keyboard is never comfortable for me to use and I hate the mousepads on them. But I know a lot of people prefer them.
Terri, sorry you couldn't sleep plus being cold---couldn't you put another blanket on? Seems like I am constantly throwing off the covers and then pulling them back up when the ac comes on but too warm when it is off. I have friends that keep the upstairs very cold during the summer that you need a winter comforter on to sleep---I will say that it makes for good sleeping there. Glad you have found someone to build those stairs and hopefully the other guy is available to do the gutters. Sounds like you might make it on the market while it is still warm. How will the kids sleep in a big open area when it is super cold outside? Is Anna one that has been home schooled all the time? Some gals are afraid they will never find a boyfriend and latch on to whoever shows them attention. What is she having? Doesn't sound like the boy has any family that could show up anyhow if in the foster care system for so long.
Betsy, guessing you need some new sand for the kids. You must have bought a lot if you needed to go back and forth unless they only let you buy so many each time. Betting your DS won't be staying much today anyhow so hope you enjoy the ladies event. Kind of surprised you agreed to go after the way she treated you at Christmas time. Guess she is showing off her country club membership to everyone. Hope you get the pies baked so everyone can take one home. Hope the rest of your vacation is not so harried. At least a lot of the cleaning was done already.
Did the hallway yesterday and took it easy on myself and my back. I also did some shredding--more to do on that but that is something I need to do in spurts so not to burn out the shredder.
Church today---nothing else planned. Maybe I will go thru a few more magazines so they are gone from the living room. Need to pick some grape tomatoes and check to see if the squash is ready to be picked.
Have a lovely Sunday!

You are not going to believe this. I found play sand on sale for $1.50 per 50 pound bag so we made several trips to Lowe's to stock up. In the middle of that, a friend asked how she could pick up the picnic table I claimed for her and we wound up picking it up and delivering it to her. She gave us gas money so I got two extra bags of sand! We found a lawn tractor Dh likes and drove home to pick up the bagger to take it back to see if it fit. At first the employee said no but with a little work, it fit! After we got that all straightened out, we went to Wal-Mart to stock up on jam jars and buy necessary items like shaving cream, toilet paper, etc. Everything we wanted was there ...except jam jars, boo! We got home and the intention was for DH to nap while I prepared a roast in a bag and then for us to scald peaches but we got a text from DS asking if we would be home tonight. We said we would and he asked if they.could stay here overnight. Of course we said yes but the house was not fit for company (Simone) so DH and I cleaned for the next five hours, taking a break only for supper. Fortunately we turned down a dinner invitation to an old favorite restaurant we haven't been to in decades. Tomorrow my SIL is taking the ladies of this family to brunch at the Country Club to celebrate my birthday and catch up with our DDs at 11. Wouldn't you know the day our DS decides to show up is a day I have agreed to do something else with the children I see more often? Oh well, I don't have reading glasses on so blame that for any errors that appear.

Tomorrow we will attempt peach pie and peach jam with the jars we already have. I am hoping to be ambitious enough to make pies in the morning so the out of towm children can each take some home. My plan REALLY was to catch up for at least an hour today but things really took a turn with that sand sale and the text from DS. Cleaning was not how I planne don spending day one of my vacation but it does look a lot better in here and I still have twenty days left. Woo Hoo! By the way, DS said they would arrive sometime after nine and they are not here yet. Dh wants me to come and relax with him in the other room so I am off.

I could NOT get to sleep last night! I was cold, but too tired to get up and find warmer pajamas and I just could not get to sleep. It was about 2:30 when I remembered that I'd had a mocha in the afternoon and the caffeine was doing it. I've been off coffee for the most part since my surgery and didn't pay attention. It was chilly out at the ranch yesterday afternoon and I'd taken a thermal commuter cup out with me--so I finished it because it was still pretty warm. I'm sure that's what had me awake and I'll be more careful in the future.

Anne, I'm so glad you caught those leaks before they did serious damage! I didn't catch where they were--at the rectory or in your home? Either way, it's great that you caught it. I hope nothing was ruined by it and that the mold can be bleached instead of having to be torn out.

Dianne, I feel for DD1 and the car problems, having been through all of that myself this year. Glad they were able to get it fixed and get back on the road, though. I didn't recognize the name of the town they were in, unless it was "Winters". That's familiar to me. I hope DD2 is happy in her little apartment and that it's a good situation for her.

Gd Anna is expecting in November and threw a party today to reveal the gender of the baby and get both families together. Sadly, the father's family was pretty much a no-show (his sister and two friends were there), so it was primarily our family. I haven't spoken to my sons, but I understand that DS1 & 2 took him aside for a little walk and talk. They love their nieces very much and this young man has had virtually NO guidance or mentoring in what it is to be a man and take care of a family. He and his siblings have grown up in foster care and lived in a disadvantaged area. He has an awful lot to learn and I'm not sure he is interested in learning anything, as he seems to think he's got it all together already (far from it!). My boys are good men and excellent fathers and providers for their families and are always willing to take a young man under their wing, so to speak. I can't see what Anna sees in him, but I hope there's more substance than first meets the eye. On the other hand, I hope if he's going to break her heart, that it happens quickly. I hate to see Jenny and SIL going through all this worry. This is not they way they've raised their kids, but they are making the best of it and will be wonderful grandparents.

We had a handyman come over and look at the project for the front steps the other day. I'm not sure what it will cost, but he has some good ideas and we will hire him to do the job. I need to call another local man about the gutters and ask for a bid. Everyone says that he does excellent work and is very reasonable. Those two jobs are the biggies right now. Steve still has to put up the wall to close in the basement and just hasn't gotten around to doing it because we keep going out to the ranch to help the kids there.

I think we're about to the place where they can manage without us for a few days at a time. They are going to knock out a couple of walls in the barn interior (where the previous folks had built living quarters) and double the size of the "house" part. Then they'll finish the walls, paint, and put down laminate flooring before winter. The upstairs will be the kids' rooms, a common room and a bathroom eventually, but for now is just one big, open space. All of this will happen slowly, as they have the funds and supplies; however, there is some pressure to get certain things done before the weather turns cold. Once Sarah has her house in some semblance of order, she can help her family find their "new normal". The more the house and yard is cleaned up, the easier that will be for her. Steve laid the framework for the new section of floor yesterday and will begin getting ready to build the new wall soon. Once that's done, the old walls inside can be taken down. It will be a mess for a little while, but not for long.

We love rotisserie chicken and turkey, too! Some stores have a better recipe than others and Costco is our favorite--both in flavor and in price.

Good morning friends, its a beautiful day here, some cloud but cool temps, which are good for me for walking and less swelling of hands, face and feet ! On Friday my computer - HP Pavilion kept shutting down from over heating. When Gene got home from work I asked him to open it up to vaccuum out any dust that might have accumulated, but he insisted on getting a new laptop and he picked out an Acer Notebook - 400.00 it had all he needed and this one can be hooked up to the tv too - just do not know how - but I leave that stuff to him. Yesterday we spent the day trying to reset the HP but the reset would not take. Originally it had another windows operating system, and then windows 10 was given to everyone and of course you only had a limited time frame to switch back. I never switched back and now the computer can not be switched back. Gene had the cd's for windows 8 but it would not take eihter .. so since I was gifting it to my sister to use for what ever time the HP has left, I put her name on it, set her up as admin, gave her passwords she would need and can change later - no doubt she will ask my daughter DEE to look at it - that is fine by me its now her's. So it was a busy computer 48 hours as the Acer had to be set up with all that I needed. I also copied all pictures and other files from the other computer onto a memory wand, so anything I might have to retrieve will be there.

Dianne, the shoes seem to be doing fine - I am wearing them inside and walking about in them and once they have stretched the orthotics will go into them ok, but for outside still wearing the other shoes. I hope your daughter will be very happy in her new place. Do you find you go through shoes faster with your running ? I did read some time ago that shoes shoudl be replaced at a certain point, but I forget how long. When the bottom of the shoe soul starts fading I know its time for knew and also cause they are really comfy its time for new lol

Anne, oh do be careful with all that mold and stuff, you don't need lung issues or that - neither does anyone else, did you call any experts in ? Do wear a good mask when near that closet, who knows what spores excaped when you opened that door ! Knots ! All the work you do of course you have knots - do you often stretch? maybe that might help ? I don't know I have never had a massage like that and would be afraid they would break something LOL Glad you enjoyed your me day - we all need one - I like to spend mine listening to music from jw.org and reading the bible - right now I am reading Deuteronomy.

Betsy, great that you got through the week - now please do enjoy your weekend with your family and having fun things to do !

Terri, hope all is well out at the ranch and I know you are accomplishing a lot of things.

Cathy, you cleaning woman you !! Well done - I need to do the same perhaps this week I will tackle some things. How long before you leave for your trip to see Joy? I forget lol

Morning! Yes, Anne--it was the head gasket. The Subaru has just an idiot light and DD1 didn't notice it last Saturday till it was too late. They think the cause was a thermostat that was stuck. Still don't know what they are doing but they did head to Oregon. So sorry about the mess in the closet but glad it is being dealt with!

Cathy--good for you with the big cleaning. I have all of DD2's stuff piled in the dining room. Not sure if I will try to move that stuff upstairs or just leave it--no company planned!

Betsy--I hope your 3 weeks have decent weather!

Terri and Lindie and Mare--hi!

I am heading to the gym. My weight is up, I will exercise. Catch you all later! (5% Challenge starts July 6--quick if anyone wants to join up!)

Dianne, now that you got the fridge done, time to move on to the dining room and get it cleared----LOL That was the room I tackled yesterday---and except for the stuff I piled on the dining room table that needs to be moved to another place---it is finished. So now it is your turn---LOL So glad your dd2 found herself a place and will be ready to move in a month. I bet she is looking forward to her own space. Glad you were able to get to the home to sing yesterday.
Betsy---woohoo! Enjoy your short break and find some time for fun!
Anne, oh, my, what a mess! Good thing you noticed that. You might want to have someone inspect the rest of the attic and make sure no more mold growing anywhere. Did anything get ruined in those closets? I would advice you to wear a face mask when working on the inside of that closet. Glad you took some mecation time although that massage doesn't sound like it was much fun---ouch to your shoulder being so painful afterwards. I am not sure I would want to have a massage that left you in pain afterwards.
Woohoo to the USA Woman's Soccer Team for beating France yesterday. They face Britain next in the semi-final.
My back was hurting when I got done in the dining room yesterday. Moving that table around several times to remove rug, to replace rug, to put it back in place---dh did help on the last time but ignored me moving it earlier. Getting rid of a couple of things and a few things being moved to spare room. Thankfully I didn't have to cook dinner----men's and ladies meeting at the church with dinner. I took a watermelon for my part---what I signed up for. Only had a few pieces to bring home of that so I was very happy as Dh shouldn't eat that much of it.
Trying to decide whether to move on to the living room today or just do the small hallway outside the bathroom. I might do that so as to give my back a break as I will need to move stuff in the living room to really clean in there.
Have a nice Saturday! Too hot here to do anything outside here.

Hi all!
Betsy, so glad you made it through the month...it was tough! Will DH have to stay on the overnight shift? How many children will you have once you get off vacation time?

Dianne, glad your DD2 got an apartment. I would also ask for rent for the part of the month that the roommate (who is leaving). What's going on with your DH's eye? For the length of time DD1's car was tied up it sounds like she blew a head gasket, especially, if I remember correctly that the car overheated. I hope she and her DH are able to have some vacation time still!

Cathy, you are just going to town getting the heavy cleaning done! Most of the time I don't have any science experiments going on in my fridge, but... I do need to clean all 4 fridges...the 2 at home and the 2 at work...yeecchh! Hope you enjoyed yourself at tea!

Lindie, we like the rotisserie chickens from a couple of the grocery stores and not a the others. It must be what they season them with, I guess. Yay to getting the airmiles! Glad you are using the bike and that Gene is going to use it more often than when venting!

Terri, I hope someone took some before and after pictures with all the work being done on the ranch! It has been one heck of a busy month and I'm sure another one is coming up! How sweet of you to do laundry for Sarah! Have the sinks been sorted out to where they will go and will the others be sold in a yard sale or just dumped!

Mestena, nice to see you popping on in the posting wall!

I have been busy with a number of things and thought I was well on my way to being caught up until I opened up one of the hall closet doors on the second floor. (As you get up to the top of the stairs there are 2 walk-in closets, one for each suite.) I noticed some white stuff on the floor...thought it was little styrofoam pieces. I was a bit annoyed because I had recently vacuumed that hallway and closet the previous Friday. When I opened the door I discovered that the ceiling was leaking and the floor was covered with water! There is an ac unit right above the closets and the copper drain pipe had a bunch of pinholes in it. The pipe had to have been leaking for quite a while because it the ceiling was soaked, had mold, and broke open on the seam (didn't come down). It was pieces of paint flecks that caught my eye. I'm glad they did because I don't know when anyone would have noticed it, unless the water soaked the runner carpet outside the door. I do know that the previous Friday it was not wet in there, though the ceiling may have been...definitely didn't look up, lol! I needed to empty the closet that had the major leak and emptied the floor of the other closet. In the process I removed a piece of leftover carpet (approximately 3' x 4') and bumped a thick piece of glass that was about 4' x 5' (a desk cover)...down it went and crash!!! What a mess on top of a mess! Fortunately, Fr. J wasn't too concerned about the loss of the glass since he didn't know where it was supposed to go! It took us (Fr. J, Rich, and me) the rest of Wednesday afternoon (3 pm - about 5 pm was the discovery time til I left) to clean it and put buckets in...the 2nd closet did have a small pinhole leak in the ceiling. Thursday I played catch up with Wednesday's things, and straightened up after the ac guy came.

Yesterday, was a me-cation day! Well, half-day! I took it off from the rectory (pre-planned) and went to the spa! A lovely facial, a "hurt-so-good" massage, lunch, a manicure, and a pedicure. It was delightful, but my upper shoulder area is still very sore. The therapist ran her hands around my shoulder blades once and commented, "You're full of knots!" She worked them and worked them, but I bet there are still a ton there! She wanted to know what kind of work I do because they were so tight! I knew that area was tight, but never dreamt how bad! Sure hope no one puts their arm over my shoulders today...it's like a bad bruise without the bruising! It should be better tomorrow (at least that's what has happened in the past).

No plans for today, except get some mail off to Fr. B. With the leak issue a few things I intended to get to never did get done!

Raining here...needed!

Have a great day!

Anne

Morning! My yesterday was odd--I slept in, cleaned the fridge (no science experiments--I was surprised!), picked up dry cleaning/got bangs trimmed, sorted papers and had a history meeting--gave the group all the stuff my friend had given me for the group. Glad I kept one/two items cause they did grab all the rest. I know I am not a mainstay any more--I am no longer a partner--but I still dislike the place so won't do more. Anyway--did get to the pool this AM for a good class and going with hubby to his eye doctor to see what is up.

Terri--you are busy with all their stuff. I do hope the kids got a great deal, given all the work you have to do to make it usable. My DD1 got the car back yesterday--don't know what they are doing now--continuing on or heading home.

Lindie--I was looking at my shoes and I need to get at least 2 more pairs--I am wearing the heels down. I hate buying shoes! I may see if I can find the same brands that I like now....I also like the rotisserie chicken--hubby is okay with it. But I could get one every week and be fine! I did get one on clearance the other day--took it off the bones and froze it so it would keep.

Betsy--hope your weather is getting better--I know more rain!

Anne and Mare--doing okay?

Cathy--I was channeling you when I did the fridge! Even did the freezer section. I have solid shelves so didn't put anything down. I took the shelves off the door and washed them good--they were full of "crumbs". Better now--and I dumped a few things.

DD2 decided on her apartment and she will move the end of July so I hope I can go up and help. We have offered her table, chairs, TV, recliner, dresser and she has bed, bookcases, bedside table, desk/chair so she can function for awhile. We need to find a microwave for her and maybe get her a small freezer--she can deal with a small fridge but it has no freezer at all. I think she is excited. They do have to pay full rent even though the one guy is leaving--and they are not making him pay. I would but....at least a part of the month. Oh, well.

Going to the home today to sing. Catch you later! Hope you have good weather in store!

Dianne

Besides Lindie, where was everyone yesterday?
Lindie, nice of you to share. I love rotiserie chicken but dh not so much---but he will tolerate it once in a while---always so tender and tasty. Hope wearing them around your place helps with the shoe situation. Seems like it doesn't take long for the memory foam to lose its memory. I know when I start getting SS mine will come on a different day than Dh's because my birthday is the 10th while his is the 16th---so that will be nice to still get money at different times. Have no idea when the state pension monies will come to me until it gets to be that time. But I hope at a different time than the other monies.
Got the dining room hutch cleaned, the curtains washed and rehung, and the dining room chairs were cleaned and polished. Then I got ready for my tea---it was nice but I was gone for over 3 hours. Fixed dinner when I got home and then watched the movie on Audie Murphy ---he truly was a hero in WWii winning all those medals---he was destined to go to West Point afterwards but because of injuries, lost that opportunity but then because a movie star.
Plans for today is to take the rug out of the dining room and put it on the deck and wash it with the hose this morning, then leave it out there to dry---the benefits of an indoor/outdoor carpet---easy to clean that way. Then I can work on another cabinet, treat some cat stains on the regular carpet and vacuum that whole area after I clean my desk good. Once the rug is back in and everything back in place, I will be done in the dining room and moving on to the living room next.
Very hot and humid here still. Hope some of you are having better weather.

Good morning everyone, Yes, Cathy, it was pay day yesterday and I get paid once a month for all my pensions. The first thing I do is separate the bill/rent monies and then I know what I have to deal with for groceries and other items. Went to Safeway this morning to get a few items I was out and spent 114.00 and received 138 in airmiles - I like that, I am over 1000 again and who knows - I might get my next fitbit that way again. I do not like the memory foam either Cathy and the orthodics squeak in the shoes LOL plus they are too tight with the orthotics in. I am wearing them around the apartment first for a while then will put the orthodics back in, by then some of the foam should have been flattened LOL Hope you had a good time at your tea with your friend! Sounds like you are getting a lot organized. I tend to spot clean my fridge especially when their are science experiments happening - and that is Gene's mess not mine lol

Dianne I hope your daughter gets a place she will like and be happy in - my sister has a studio type and it is small - also her fridge keeps breaking down and she can't use the oven and a ring on the stove at the same time, its not wired properly - she never wanted a stove but they got her one anyway ... I hope you drank lots of water after that work out ! I can't handle that kind of heat, hard to walk in never mind exercise in ! The weather has been raining the last couple of days but we needed it, I so dislike brown grass ! I have donated a lot of books to the library as well as movies - they are happy to receive them.

Terri, wow, at it again, huh ... well I am sure Sarah appreciates all your hard work and help. Be careful around those nests - especially if there are any droppings so you dont' catch any thing from them. I agree with Cathy and hope your tetenas shot just in case - I really appreciate the recycling, if something can be used or has a use, use it - but is the wire basically useless when taken to the dump ? I think they should almost be paying you all for all the cleaning you are doing that they should have done themselves, but obviously when folks get up in years, somethings get neglected. Be careful, Be safe !

Anne - hello hello see you are busy !

Betsy, one more day, breath !!

Well I found some thin bagels, a little higher in calories then I wanted, and not like the ones I saw at walmart that were only 100 calories, but I will try them and see - of course they are not in the shape of a bagel - that is fine by me, looks more like flattened hamburger buns LOL

I picked up a rotisary chicken yesterday and let Gene have as much as he wanted - he was complaining the day before about no meat - yet he buys those michelina meals all the time - anyway I will strip that today and put some of the chicken away for another week and make some chicken salad for today.

Time to go check on the laundry, have a great day/evening eh !

Lindie, must have been a pay period for you. Do you get paid once a month like our Social Security here? Hope the shoes stretch out for you. I don't like the memory foam---no support for the feet but with your othotics, you have the support there. I finished the book and finally cleaned out the fridge---not as bad as I thought it would be---but I think I had also cleaned it in December over Christmas break. But I did put down some Pioneer Woman lining in there so now the fridge is very colorful when I open the door---hopefully will be easier to clean that stuff, too. I found it on clearance a few months ago and just got to use it---LOL---so less clutter putting that to use. And no science experiments found!
Dianne, man, it was too hot to do zumba outside! Hope those muscles aren't keeping you from cleaning----heehee! Why would you keep those books until you move? Why not donate them to the library for their next sale? Might as well start clearing out some of that stuff sooner rather than later. Hope your dd2 gets one of those smaller places so that you can help here before you leave. Might be smaller but it will be hers alone----that will really make her feel like she has made progress.
Terri, nice of you to do laundry for her. Wow, a lot of junk in there but some useful things. When you set up your garden you will want that drip line stuff. Hope you can take off some of the stuff that can be recycled soon so they can add to it. They kind of sound like hoarders---LOL Are you up to date on your tetanus shot messing with all that old metal? Did the boys come home with you or stay there?
Fridge done, cabinets finished on the outside, metal baskets emptied, washed, and the baskets washed and hung outside to air dry---easier than trying to dust----LOL Only thing left to do in there is wash the floor and put stuff back into the baskets. Did some rearrangement of hanging stuff and need to find a home for one of those things. Started on the dining room clearing off the dining room table in preparation of cleaning the china hutch. Been invited to someone's house for tea---hope she doesn't take offense if I don't drink tea---but it's more for the socialization---that is this afternoon so I should be able to get the hutch done this morning.
Have a good Thursday!

Busy here too. Another work day at the ranch and I finished cleaning out an old building that was stuffed with all kinds of wire and fencing. Under all of that , I found about 5 year's worth of newspapers that the rodents had used for nests, several cardboard boxes and a huge pile of old plastic 6-packs that flowers come in. Also some hoses and irrigation line for a drip system, 3 tarps, 3 water timers, a bbq, some saws, and I'm not sure what else because Steve finished it once I started a fire and started burning stuff. It had begun to rain lightly, so it was safe to do so, but I pulled a garden hose over near the fire, just in case.

Steve was a good sport and hauled two 20' trailer loads out to the upper end of the property where it will be out of sight until we have time to sort it and recycle what we can. Next time I know we're going to the coast, I'll see if we can haul a load of scrap metal or plastic off. They don't charge to recycle those. You would not believe the amount of junk that's been left here over the years. It's going to take some time to uncover it all.

Neither house has been listed for sale yet, but we're getting close with the log house. Steve needs to build front steps up to the porch and it's a full flight up. He peeled 3 of the logs that will be supports for the steps today, so he's a little closer on that one. Well, he had two of the grandsons do it. Nothing done this year on the Placerville house, so that's on hold for now. The ranch cabin will be the last project before we can move in. We can putter with it, but can't spend any big time or money on it until we sell the log house and put the money down to buy the ranch. In the meantime, I can help the kids settle in and clean up.

I offered to do some laundry for Sarah and she gratefully accepted since she's had her boys for the last two days and they go through a lot of clothes. I've got the 2nd load in the washer now and will do the third in the morning before we go back out. It was a good day.

ARG! Missed another day on here! Well, I did do the weight machines--so my arms are sore! I never get sore legs but boy my triceps and chest muscles hurt! It was a good workout. Had dinner with the gals from the HS--over 10 years now! I don't quite fit in--and neither did my daughter with this crew! But--I do enjoy seeing them.

So Betsy--I have seen the Manatowoc Minute guy--he is great!! Good luck with the health insurance--I do hope DD2 can find a place in a school system--and I can see why she thinks the kids are scared of the teacher.

Terri--you did need a "down" day! I hope the previous owners do get the message that they need to be MOVED. Does sound like you are busy up there--and an old sink for your outdoor spot sounds great. My DD1 and her hubby have been in Witters (?) getting their car fixed. It overheated and hopefully will be fixed by end of day tomorrow. Bummer for them in $$ and in lost vacation time.

Cathy--yes, I should get a list made--and I should really go through and get rid of books--or at least do the sort now and put the ones I will get rid of in a different spot so I won't need to sort again, even if I still want to keep them till we move. I have games that we won't keep--so need to get through them and try to sell or donate somewhere. And--I need to clean but I don't want to! LOL

Anne--hope you have good weather.

Lindie--I did get a van full of stuff from DD2--she is looking at 2 possible places--both studio type so small but they would be for just HER. She hasn't found out when she has to move out of her place. I have offered to come up and help her move before July 10 but not sure whe needs to. Waiting to find out.

Mestena--glad to know you are alive! What is happening? My baby brother is going to be in the UP--riding motorcycle and camping with his girlfriend. Hope you are settled and happy.

I did a walk/run this AM and went to a Zumba class outside tonight--it was still 90. I am a bit sweaty! LOL

Thrashers' Fries and Ice cream, oh what a day eh !! Well as my wall post stated, its an almost day here, bills almost paid, waiting for the 1st to do the tax payment, groceries almost done, waiting for tomorrow to gain 100 airmiles points at Safeway - yup can easily spend 100 there and have already spent 100 today ! Bought some new shoes - went with sketchers this time with memory foam, slip ons - much lighter but they are a bit tight across the broad part of the upper foot - hoping that relaxes some and the heel does not slip even with the orthotics in - the orthotics will wear down the memory foam. Then I had to go get ink for our printer - 80.00 later ! well its colour ink, I like to print in colour a lot so felt I should pay for it. Although I was thinking we just replaced the ink not that long ago and yet I can not find the cartriges that were taken out if I did ...duh ! Chicken for dinner tonight ... I am just relaxing now as I was out for several hours and already have "almost " emoticon 10,000 steps ...

Cathy, how was the book? What are you doing today ? Are you getting excited to meet up with JOY?

Betsy, 2 more days, right ? Hang in there, you can do this, just don't do it again !!!

Dianne, hope your day is going well - did you go to your daughter's to pick up stuff ?

Anne, hope your day is also going well and those two jobs are not stressing you out too too much.

Terri, everyone needs a down day now and again, and while compared to your regular days these days, just laundry is just fine at least that got done - what time line do you have for moving into the cabin ? Sounds like there is still a lot of work to be done !

Dianne, did you get to the weights? Hope you had a good workout.
Betsy, it is confusing. They keep trying to get us to switch to an EPO, but most of us prefer the PPO---that way they will cover some of the cost if you go to an out of the plan doctor. And with traveling, that is definitely the way to go for us. Glad you know which ones you will allow for the future. Does that mean not Landon's older brother? Are you going to take Landon back or still deciding? Hope you find some time to relax during your time off---seems like your weekends are so packed that there cannot be time to really relax. Did John Crist sing along with the comedy? The name is very familiar--I might have to look him up to see if it is who I think it is.
Terri, it sounds like you really needed a day of chill. You have been doing so much at the new place---maybe you should limit how many hours you spend there. Bet you were kind of glad to have no boys for a couple of nights. You are wonderful to take them but it's always nice to have a break.
We enjoyed our fries and ice cream---we haven't even opened the popcorn yet---LOL---we take our containers back and save money that way plus they seal it so they are good for quite a while. I got one to take up to Joy's and one for Dh. I didn't do much when I got home. Wanted to finish a book I had started---accomplished---and then we went out to our usual place for dinner----Dh wanted to go. I did clean a counter off---the one with the sink---last night. I still have to clean the fridge and put a shine on the last set of cabinets, then wash the kitchen floor, then I can move on to the dining room.
Hot here---OC was nice yesterday---nice breeze off the inlet side---but much hotter at home. It's Wednesday!

Today was a total rest day for me. I was SO tired and didn't really get into anything. Steve mowed the hillside and did some weedeating here at the log house and gd Lily actually climbed up a tree and sawed some limbs off for me! She didn't finish the tree, but did as much as she could before her arms turned to noodles. We had a guy come over to look at one of Steve's projects and I think we're going to hire him to do it.

DS2's family was invited to dinner at his in-law's house, so the boys stayed with their parents last night. Then, I didn't go out to the ranch today, so they're sleeping in the camper again tonight. I think we'll go out tomorrow and finish up the projects that I left in the middle of, and clean those up. Then I may bring the boys home with me again tomorrow if they and their mom want. I feel like a slouch because I didn't accomplish anything today but a load of laundry, but I've been working hard so I guess my body needed a break. I'm thinking it will be an earlier bedtime tonight than usual.

I think Anne suggested that the former occupants of the barn/house might have seller's remorse and I think that's true. At the same time, they have to see the changes taking place and realize that we are not there to "camp out" but to turn it into a home. They have expressed that they all feel like our family is a good fit for the ranch and the neighbors that we've met are all saying how nice it is to see all the work being done all the time. Sarah has a riding lawn mower and keeps all the yards mowed so that it looks like a park--which is quite a change from previously. I think the former occupants are deliberately leaving things there so that they have a reason to come back to the ranch and look around. That will come to an end soon, too. They won't have unrestricted access to the property after a certain point and they'd better have taken all of their personal belongings.

Adam went through the old barn and found several old porcelain sinks. He pulled them all out and laid them beside the driveway so that we could examine them all. There are some OLD ones in there that I think Sarah will be using as they remodel their kitchen and build a bathroom upstairs for the kids. I want an outdoor kitchen near the pool, so will find one I can use as well. That old barn has a lot of junk in it and Adam is claiming it as his "man cave" so will be clearing it out of anything and everything we don't want. That barn needs some refurbishing and reinforcement before he starts using it, but clearing it out is a good first step.

Betsy, I'm glad you have some vacation time coming up soon and I hope you find some real rest in it. Why does J have to do that shift? I would think that, with his seniority on the job, he'd be able to claim a better shift than that. I agree that it stinks for someone who is a morning person. Steve has done all of those different shifts in his career as a road maintenance worker--especially in the winter--and he hated the night shifts the most. The midnight to 8 am was the worst! It was so hard for him to get enough sleep during the daylight hours and he never saw the kids. I'm glad you were able to get in to see the comedy show in spite of leaving your purse at home. Did you have your tickets in your purse?

Dianne, I hope you find your mojo and can get some cleaning done. You might have to make yourself a list of things you want to accomplish and just tackle one of them at a time. I could have gone upstairs and done some sewing today and still rested my body, but I didn't. I didn't have anything written down and just couldn't find a place to direct my attention. I drifted through the day--got one load of laundry done and put away and the dishwasher emptied. Not much else.

Hi Lindie! I'm getting sleepy, so will take a shower now so my hair can dry before going to bed. See you all tomorrow sometime.

Cathy, since I took Monday off, my four day week ends on Friday night and then my GLORIOUS vacation begins! If I have help ,Travis and Dane can come at the same time, if not, no room at the Inn will be my mantra. You are correct, DH does not enjoy the late shift at all, it is tough and it is NOT good for an early morning person. If only there was a job for DD2 that provided insurance... It took me until nearly midnight because I had to learn the differences between HMO, PPO,POS and EPO. HMO seemed the best for her but once I selected that one, it disappeared from the list and so did the other options, sigh. I switched to an EPO and they wanted me to pay right away but that was impossible because their portal is down. An e mail greeted me this morning saying I needed to pay but the portal is still down. I will have to call when all the little ones are here, not looking forward to that...
As far as liking her job, DD2 has never wanted to work in a day care, she would like to be an assistant in the public schools. She loves the children but she is having a hard time with the teacher she works with being a bit harsh with the three year olds. The teacher will direct the comments toward the child but DD2 takes it personally and it upsets her. DD2 claims the children are a bit afraid of the teacher. One child wanted DD2 to go into the room with her to get her blanket for naptime and the teacher said, "You don't need a teacher with you to get your blanket!" DD2 enjoys telling stories but the teacher told her to stop. DD2 was singing a new song with the children and the teacher told her to sing something they already know. All that said, she misses the children when she hasn't seen them in a few days.

Dianne, did you hear the Manitowoc Minute guy or John Crist? Yes, I was very happy to get back home to my purse and phone last night.

I have Pack N Plays to make up so I need to get moving. Have a great day getting those treats, Cathy and the rest of the team, have a great day as well

Morning! I got sucked into the computer so won't make my class--I think I will just go work on the weight machines. Raining here--and very high humidity. Hubby turned on the AC--I will make it warmer but leave it on.

Catch everyone later! (Betsy--I have heard the guy--love him! Glad you got your purse...)

Anne, around here most restaurants will be quieter at that hour as most people eat out right after church---so if we want to eat out on a Sunday, we go later. But it sounds like your weather and mine were the same for the weekend---it was just delightful here. Some men let lose in a place like that will go overboard----just like us in certain stores----LOL My dh might do that in a tool shop but he now realizes that he has way too many tools that he never uses. We could probably get rid of all the tools down in the basement because he never uses what is down there. Guess that place didn't really want to sell anything ---or closed up early with no clients earlier. None are open around here on a Sunday.
Dianne, I had a good pool workout last night. Went early so could do the workout with my friend Nancy who has changed pool time. She called and wanted me to come so she could tell me about her upcoming surgery on her neck. I think she is kind of scared but the doctor said if she didn't have it she could become parylized. Nice of you to do those things for Bob.
Lindie, I didn't tackle the fridge yesterday---but did finish all the insides of the cabinets---including the dreaded under the sink ones. Wasn't as bad as I imagined but still needed the most cleaning of all of them. Time for you to attack yours now----LOL What long weekend does Canada have coming up? Next week will be an odd one here but busy as the 4th is on a Thursday so a lot will take the whole week off.
Betsy, guessing she doesn't like her job or is something else going on there? Choosing insurance is quite the headache. Maybe she should look for a job that provides at least some insurance even if not the best. Sorry you still have the older ones this week. Now that you have experienced that, are you deciding that you will no longer take the older ones back, esp. before school starts? I know you are taking 3 weeks off and that it starts this week on Thursday. Glad you decided you need to do that. Doing that 4 to 12 shift does not sound like fun for your DH.
Today is Thrasher's Fries and Fisher's popcorn day! LOL When we get home I will probably work on the dining room and save the fridge for Wednesday when I can do it early before the kitchen gets too warm. I did use 2 leftovers from the fridge for last night's dinner along with making squash fritters again to go with them. Definitely was much hotter yesterday. At least the beach will be cooler than here today.
Have a good day--it's Tuesday by the way---just so I don't forget---LOL

I have until tomorrow to get DD2's insurance figured out. I think I am just going to have to pick something and deal with what we get because something is better than nothing. Also, I don't know how much longer she will last at her job so she may be eligible for a change if she finds employment elsewhere and her pay goes down.

Cathy, the answer to your, "Why no post?" is that we did errands all day when DH was here except when he napped in the afternoon and at that time I was catching up on scanning for the national consumer panel. I lost three weeks when our computer crashed. Once he went to his night shift at the park, I went to Mass, did a ton of laundry and housework and packed for our short trip. My intention was to post on Saturday but by the time I got here it was past midnight so I just went to bed. I blew a streak of over 500 days by missing getting here so you know the stress level is still quite high. It went down greatly yesterday when I attended a baby shower brunch for my niece-in-law and then headed to Madison with DH and both daughters. Our hotel was nice and had the added bonus of a free shuttle so we were able to take that to the Comedy Club where we saw a Christian comedian, John Crist. He was funny but I really liked his opening act and the surprise extra act that Dianne might know, Charlie Behrens ( sp?) who does the " Manitowoc Minute." Unfortunately, we had quite a time getting in because I forgot my purse at home, yikes! It would have been Ok if I had my phone but it was in my purse! After frantic calls and texts to DD1, who was with DS, we got everything straightened out and they let us in, phew!

Terri, I believe you asked what DH does from 4- midnight. The answer is wood sales for campers for one hour, deep cleaning the lodge or lodges after renters leave, checking in the people who rented it for the night, assisting them in any way needed and once again, deep cleaning after they leave. Some people are considerate, others will not be getting their deposit back.

I have four more days of work but one of my older boys is gone so it should be a tad easier but still busy due to the varying ages. My extra four year old boy is Landon's big brother and he is very needy so that is draining.

I better get to that insurance before the clock strikes midnight. emoticon

Afternoon friends, its been a mixed bag of weather day the last couple of days, some rain, which we need but not a lot ! Cooler temps at night for sleeping, yea ! but warm afternoons, means layers in the morning, and strip down in the afternoon - LOL But its liveable.

Dianne, sounds like you did well at the sales for your friend - good going selling that item for 50.00 - great hospitality for your friend - what did you see at the Rev War supply depot, did it help you understand the war better ? When I went to the Lake District of England, I toured a war museum there as well, and it sure helped me to understand how my mom would have spent her teen age years - not great ! It's too bad your dad does not have a fishing buddy - will he sell his boat ? Would it be something you would use, or your siblings ?

Anne, what kind of truck are you hunting for ? Did you tell your DH if he buys it he has to use it at least 10 x ? lol I woulda - Gene talks about buying things all the time and I remind him that he still has lots of things he's not using why buy one more ? We all need me time for sure ... how did your Monday go ?

Cathy did you get that kitchen cleaned ? I thought of doing mine, that's as far as I have gotten - course mine is more like a galley kitchen - Thrashers !!!! Be sure to have some for ME !!! LOL

Terri, Terri, Terri watch out for those snakes ! It does sound like a lot is getting done, does your son hold a secular job as well ? Any more word on selling your two places ? I think its good you are taking your time to move out to the other place, who knows what you will find when you open up the master bedroom !

Nice weekend here, not much going on - long weekend around the corner, and so is JULY already !! Month has flown by !

Morning! I have been to the pool--great workout this AM. And I really slept great last night--needed a good sleep! Heading to the home today--I got a stain out of a shirt for Bob and did some minor repair on a jacket for him. The pizza was good--didn't go to our usual one but instead used gift certificate I got for babysitting for the girls--they are overly generous with the thanks/payment! One more meal for us there!

Cathy--glad you got lots done. Keep talking about it--I will get some of your energy, I hope! I need to go through cupboards and get rid of stuff. But....yeah.

Anne--lots of our car dealerships are closed on Sundays--still a few blue laws around here. Did you see something you were really interested in? My dad doesn't get fishing much--his fishing buddy passed away--Dad could get that boat into the water but can't do his own anymore--it isn't trailered and he used to just pull it out/into the pickup but he can't quite do that any more. The buddy's son has taken him out a time or two--hope he gets out soon this year. But the river is high and fish might not be biting.

Terri--finding any "good" junk? Hopefully there are a few things left that are useful--otherwise lots of work and no reward. Watch out for snakes! Haven't heard any more from DD1 except they are staying put till Tuesday morning at least--hope the car can get fixed today.

Betsy--what's up? Did you get too wet? I know the weekend was damp--again.

Lindie--I will let you know closer to the trip where we will be, ext--maybe we can connect!

So--going to finish my coffee! Have a good day!

Hi all!
Dianne, glad you were able to help your friend. Hope you enjoyed your pizza! Hope DD1's car issue isn't a big problem!

Terri, glad your DIL spoke up and that they actually did leave, lol! I'm sure the previous owners have some seller's remorse. Hopefully seeing what your family has managed to do in such a short time makes them feel good about who they sold it to! I'm sure the boys' Mom is most appreciative that the boys are being cared for well at night...that way she can collapse at the end of the day without being asked for this or that, lol! Good idea to keep them involved with the process of getting settled in!

Cathy, the South does have some pretty interesting bugs. I mostly encounter, ants, spiders, bees, wasps, and mosquitoes. Fortunately the cockroaches are not in my neighborhood, lol! It sounds like a lot of work getting ready for the new shed! I'm thinking any work this week will have to be done early in the morning before it gets too hot! Will Howard be building it or is there a contractor coming in to do it? Glad you were able to get some R & R in before the end of the day!

Lazy day yesterday. Watched Good Omens on Amazon all morning. It was cute, but I don't think it will be a rewatch series for me. J and I went truck hunting on the computer most of the early part of the afternoon, then went to the dealership near BassPro. We got there just before 4:00 and the place looked closed. No one came out to assist us while we were looking at both the new and used vehicles, so we left and went to BassPro. J picked up some of what he "needed" for his fishing this year. Grrrr! It aggravates me how much he "has to spend" on fishing every year...especially since the last couple of years he only went a few times. Fingers crossed he will go more often this year...especially on a Saturday or Sunday so I can have some me-cation time, lol!

We went to the Olive Garden last night and had their buy one/take one meals. J got their Creamy Tuscany Garlic Chicken and I got their Lasagna...both cost $3.50 more than the $12.99 special price. We both ordered Ravioli's as our take home meals. I was very pleased with our meal last night...the last 2 times I was disappointed. We were both surprised how quiet it was there...we were eating at about 6:00 and there were a lot of empty tables. Guess everyone was BBQ'ing since it was an absolutely gorgeous day!

No plans, except Mass and laundry today. Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Anne

Terri, good for her in putting her foot down---that was just terribly rude of them to not clean out their junk! That sounds a lot like what a lot of renters do around here. Sometimes there are huge piles of stuff out on the front lawn waiting for pick=up from the city trash truck. That is a shame that you all are finding discarded junk around the property. They sure did not respect their own property. Sounds like a lot has been accomplished but a lot more to do along with everyday chores with all those animals and the hay. What a big savings having the ability to bale their own hay---guessing they have the old fashioned hay baler that makes the rectangular bales. I don't understand doing the huge ones that it takes a machine to move them from place to place---so much harder for people that have horses. Not my idea of an improvement in farming practices. Has Steve decided to build the front steps or is he going to have a contractor do them?
Dianne, that was nice of you to help out with the sales. Woohoo to selling that outfit. Glad you were able to tour that place while there. Any plans for the week?
Betsy, come on, gf, you had the weekend off with dh gone in the evenings---why no post? LOL
We didn't do much yesterday but it was a very nice day. I did pull weeds up in the front bed after the sun was going down.
This week Dh has an appointment at the Doctor in Ocean City---so I will go with him tomorrow and then we can go get some popcorn and Thrasher's Fries as a summer treat. Hope to get most of the kitchen done today---but that involves cleaning the inside of the fridge--so we will see if I get it done today. Right now the front door is open but the ac will be back on later on and not off for quite a long time now.

Hi! I spent the day at the Monmouth Battlefield helping to sell stuff for my friend. They did sell a lot yesterday but there were a few sales today--I convinced someone to buy a $50 outfit so did contribute. I skipped church to help with that.

Terri--sounds like progress is being made and yes, your DIL was right to say it is OURS now so get out. Hope they can get people situated, too! DD1 and hubby had car trouble near Witters (?) with car overheating so they are replanning their vacation since they won't get that fixed till Monday at best. She called while we were driving home from DD2's.

Anne--I would be on the ceiling if I saw one of those! Glad you did remember the thank you notes--that is important.

Cathy--I would stay away from your sort-of DIL as well. Can she be any more toxic?? We have also had a delightful weekend--although I was doing stuff that didn't really let me enjoy it. I did visit the Van Wyck House -- the supply depot for the northern part of the Rev War. Quite interesting.

Betsy and Lindie--hope all is fine!

Out for pizza--I am tired and hungry!

Progress has been made on the inside too. Sarah told the former occupants (who were SUPPOSED to be OUT of the barnhouse by the 3rd week in May, but have dragged their feet) that they had to have EVERYTHING they wanted out of the barn and out of the surrounding area on their last trip out to the ranch. She said, "Get everything you want today because I'm moving in and can't deal with this mess anymore. Anything left here after today will be hauled off." He just said, "okay" and did it. Adam has already taken a big 6-horse trailer of trash to the dump twice, and has a 3rd one filled already. There will be more as we clear areas that are overgrown and find things that have been buried. It's an adventure, for sure!

We haven't touched the cabin at all because I'm working outside (my favorite job by far!) and we aren't going to be occupying the cabin any time soon. I will get in there soon and clear out the master bath where it has just been closed up and ignored for years. The current occupant hasn't used the master bedroom or bath in years as his wife no longer comes to the ranch with him. He has a cot in the living room for sleeping and just uses the guest bathroom and kitchen. He likes to do the farming and cut firewood, but wasn't much for grooming the yard around the cabin and pool. I'm sure he's loving the way things are shaping up now, though must also be sad to be leaving it all behind.

(I started this post this morning before I left and just got back on the computer before going to bed and see that I didn't send it)

We just got home at 10 pm after spending most of the day at the ranch. Steve drove the tractor while Adam and 2 grandsons picked up the hay bales and stacked them on the trailer. They finished the field and then came and loaded up the trailer with all the prunings that Sarah had cut off the apple trees in the yard and all the blackberry canes I'd cut and piled. It filled a 20' trailer and still didn't get it all. Then the men went and got the logs Steve had cut for building our front steps off the hillside. I think he'll get the grandboys to help him peel the bark off them and they'll enjoy that. We're still keeping their boys here at night, but I know they miss their mom, so I'm taking them out every day so they can have some time with her and help with the chores. They need to be invested in all the work that's being done so that they feel like part of the family team--even if it's just tending to their animals.

Dianne, hope your dd2 can find a place of her own that she can afford closer to work. Having to always live with others can be a trial---but thinking she also might get lonely after being used to having roommates. Hope you had a nice drive up there and back. I love Newsies---great music and dance scenes in that so I imagine that they had fun putting that on, We only got rain on one day last week---always a threat of rain but nothing came of it.
Anne, yikes--guess she has to check her shoes before she puts them on in the mornings. Yes, living in the climates down South lead to lots of bugs and a constant battle with them. Hope you find something nice to do today.
Terri, sounds like quite a lot has been done outside at the new place. But how is the inside coming? I know their first prioriiy is getting the animals settled in with their own homes. It does sound like a sawmill set up would be perfect for that property. How much does one of those cost? Shari has taken Reagann into the Magic Kingdom when she was very young when they went down on a Softball World Series trip with Andy. But I doubt she even remembers that. She is just a royal PIA towards me and we will avoid her like the plague from now on. She better hope she doesn't want a day off for herself as it won't happen from us. Is that campground even open with the snow being up there?
We had absolutely beautiful weather yesterday. I did get the one section done in the kitchen but a lot of time was spent outside helping Dh. He took down the fencing round the original strawberry patch and then we transplanted as much as possible into the new bed. He then attached the old fencing to the new railings he had built for that. I enjoyed sitting out on the deck after helping plant a whole lot of plants---a bit hard on the knees but it got done---I had to walk around and stretch the knees out a few times but I was able to get it done. Now he has to dig up that area where the old raised bed was so he can level it off and order his new shed. Doubt much will be done this week as we are going to have a nasty heat wave after having a glorious weekend. Right now I have the front door open and the ac off for the morning until I leave for church.
Hope you have a lovely day!

I don't like scorpions either, Anne. We get them in the woodpile and every once in a while one will "hitch hike" into the house with the wood. I've never been stung by one, but hear that it's much like a bee sting.

Cathy, it is a shame that Shari won't let you take Reagann to Disney without them, yet won't go with you. Maybe they think she's too young to go that far without them? Or maybe the just want to be there with her on her first Disney experience. I know my DIL2 would feel that way. She hates to miss any significant "firsts" with her kids and I think I might have, too. But our kids would never have gone to Disneyland if they had to wait for us to take them because we'd NEVER have been able to afford it! Steve's mom and sister took them one summer and had a ball. The snow was up in the mountains, about an hour from the canyon. My SIL told me that her DIL and gd had gone up there the WEEK before and had to hike the last mile to the campground because the roads were blocked with snow! In only a week, it had melted enough for us to drive all the way in, but there were still lots of drifts to play in.

Dianne, are they looking to exit California like so many others? I can't believe how many people are leaving the state! I have an uncle who moved to Idaho and he said that 90% of their entire community is from here! The real estate market is booming in several states because of the exodus, it seems. I don't have any statistics, but I'm hearing it all over the place. I went through a pile of cards a while ago and tossed most of them. It wasn't easy to get rid of the photo cards, but I did it and don't miss them now that they're gone. I have a couple of drawers in my bedroom that have some old correspondence and sweet cards from Steve and the kids that I need to go through and find other storage for. I won't be getting rid of those.

We worked out at the ranch today and are going back out tomorrow. Adam had baled the middle section of the hayfield and cut the last section. He and a crew of boys hauled in over 250 bales and stacked them today and will get the rest tomorrow. Once the hay is stored, we'll start running the sprinklers out there to water for the next cutting. We should get enough hay to feed his 5 horses all winter and possibly get enough to sell some. We're still new at this, so we won't know for a while. I cut blackberry canes with my weedeater and cleared a large area where Sarah wants to put the chicken run and opened up another area that had simply been overtaken with the berries. I told her she's going to have to let the chickens have the whole area or the berries are going to come back. I don't know yet how it will be worked out, but it will.

I'll do more of the same tomorrow. There's a lovely pear tree that's been overtaken by the berry patch and I want to be able to get to it to pick the pears later, so I think I'll "release" that tomorrow if I can get to it. Sarah's been pruning trees in the yard and has made it into a very nice place to sit. We all ate dinner out there this evening, under the apple trees. I had used my turkey roaster to make pot roast with yellow potatoes and carrots and taken it out this morning. It was sure nice to have dinner ready for everyone when the time came. Not sure what we'll do tomorrow. I don't have anything thawed out to cook, so might make some sandwiches for us so the kids don't have to worry about feeding us. I'm not sure how long we'll stay out there, but we generally end up staying all day when we go. Steve cut a fallen log (from the snow last spring) into the lengths he needs to finish the front porch on the log house. He'll have to get it off the hill and onto a trailer so he can bring it home and peel the bark off it. There are lots of windfallen trees that we would love to be able to use for building projects, if only we had a portable sawmill! I'm thinking that's going to be on our Christmas list pretty soon!

Lindie, great job with the bike! Keep up the good work! Glad you got most of your shredding done! Can your shredding be recycled? I got told ours can't...it's broken down too much or something. I look forward to a time when I won't have to work...or at least only work at one job, lol!

Terri, love the flannel shirt! Ouch to the sunburns! Maybe they'll remember to ask for sunscreen in the future. Hope they don't hurt much! Nice incentive to get them to pull those weeds, lol! Hope the water table stays high. Snow in mid-June...cool!

Cathy, that sounds like a lovely day with Reagann. It is really too bad that her Mom is the way she is...I can't believe she would turn down a Disney World trip! Did either you or Reagann help Howard with the yard work or was was he done by the time the toss game was set up? Yay to relaxing on the porch! Don't work too hard today!

Dianne, I'm going to have to Google a Les Mills class...not familiar. Free weights can be fun to use...but be careful! Glad you enjoyed the show. What brand of leggings are they...they sound interesting...I could use some compression in certain places, lol! Will DD2 try to live by herself? Wonder if anyone in the area has an apartment over their garage.

Betsy, I agree with Dianne...4 to midnight is cutting into prime sleeping time! What does he do during that time? Check people in? Patrol? Hope you have some fun things to do this weekend!

Just got back from a later than normal b-fast. I was going to suggest doing something with J this afternoon after I got home from work, but realized I am the lector at the 4:00 Mass today. Maybe we can do something tomorrow. In the meantime I am going to start working on getting the donor thank you letters done up for the people who made auction donations for our Wine Tasting event last month. I totally forgot (and so did Fr. J) about getting this done! We created the letter; I just need to fill in the blanks and print them off!

My gf and I haven't connected yet. It will be interesting to find out why she was up at that ungodly hour, lol!

I was asleep when I got a text from V last night at 10:30. She actually sent it to her sister, Theresa, Tom's wife, and me. It was a picture of what she was greeted by when she went into her kitchen.

I would have died! Okay, maybe not died, but definitely would have been 'wigged out' for the rest of the night! For that matter, I was a bit 'wigged out' before I finally fell back to sleep! Hmmmm another reason I'm not a Georgia fan...though someday I will probably end up there.

Have a great Saturday!

Missed getting on here yesterday! I did free weights in a Les Mills class. We finally have sun shince after a week of rain--over 3.5 inches! Went to see Newsies last night--Disney musical done by the local group--great dancing! Heading up to see DD2 and bring back stuff--she is looking for her OWN place closer to work. Tired of living with the one guy and the other is leaving. I will wear the leggings with a long top--these are not for working out. Both are high waisted and compress so look pretty good!

Cathy--so sorry she treats you like that--sounds like Andy is under her thumb, too.

Terri--glad you had fun with the boys! DD1 is out camping starting today--heading up to the Columbia River area--checking out possible places to move as well as camping.

Lindie--I have to go through cards, etc--I know the kids won't want them. Just don't enjoy doing that!

Anne--a 4:30 AM call? Arg!! It may have been a telemarketer, too--we got calls coming from our own number--not right that they can do that.

Betsy--4 to midnight? Tell him to be quiet when he comes in!! I used to stay up till midnight all the time--not any more! That is prime sleeping time!

We need to get on the road! Try to catch you all later!

Anne, that is the rub, who turns down a free trip to Disney? I was going to pay for everything except if they chose to fly. The only money they would need to spend would be on souvenirs. I put money away from the money I got from my Mom just for this. OH, well, their loss but I have wanted to take Reagann to Disney ever since she was born. Did you find out why she called? Did you get your cleaning at home done?
Lindie, glad you are getting cooler temps. We cooled down yesterday and today but next week looks to be the first heat wave for my area with temps in the 90's for at least 3 days starting Tuesday or Wednesday. Good idea to build up your endurance with the bike.
Terri, good picture of all of them. Hard to imagine still having snow that close. Hope you headed to the coast to get groceries. You have used up quite a lot of supplies feeding that many. Boys sure can eat---having had 3 I do know that one for sure.
I had a good day with Reagann. We did a page in my Sticker Mosaics together---that was fun--then we went to lunch at the mall and had lunch at the Chick-fil-a there, then we headed to the theater to watch Toy Story 4----Howard went back home---then we went to Michael's Craft store to shop. She got some slime and 2 light up foam swords to play with at home with her friend that lives next door. Of course she and her poppop had a fight at home with them and then with me before she left. When we got home Howard was outside doing some lawn chores and we set up the bean bag toss game I had bought the other day. I fixed dinner before she left----she complained that she has too much pizza at home---and said her mom is not a good cook----LOL After she left it was nice enough to spend time on the front porch which is what I did until it got too dark. It was a good day!
Now, back to cleaning today---I did sleep in until 7 this morning. We picked more cucumbers yesterday and I am going to pick another squash either today or tomorrow to have for dinner.

Dianne, I feel your pain with losing your massage therapist. I'll never find another one like Penny and I'm sure she's retired by now. I went to her every week while I was tending the canyon property by myself and Steve was working up here (we could afford it then) and she kept me "put together" while I did all the mowing and weedeating. I just don't like taking my clothes off for strangers--period--so it's hard to go to a new doctor, see a new PA, or massage therapist. I don't think anyone should wear leggings as pants, but don't think anyone is too old to wear them under a top that covers their butt. They are cute and comfy-looking (I don't have any) and I might wear them with the right skirt, but don't really have the legs for it. I'm glad you got the heads-up BEFORE making that awful drive to the park. I'm glad your group is helping your friend to re-home her historical garb where it will be appreciated and used properly. Will DD2 be moving closer to you or do you know yet? It's best that you let Bob vent to you, but his grasp on reality might be skewed in regard to his kids. You never know. Nevertheless, your company and affection for him has to be good for him and it's good of you to offer it.

Cathy, I'm sure the restrictions are coming from Reagann's mother and not Andy, since she allows her own mother to take her on trips. My mother would never tolerate that with my sis-in-law. Whenever any of my brother's kids were in Placerville to see the other grandparents, Mom insisted on equal time--and she got it! I don't do that, but the kids make their wants known and we are usually available to keep them any time their parents need us to, so that pays off. Ben used to prefer his other grandmother's house because it was calm and she fussed over him, but he's outgrown that a little and doesn't need to be the center of attention anymore. Blaine preferred my house, and Jenny's kids didn't have any other grandparents to visit so we were it for them. I know that we are beyond blessed and try never to take it for granted.

This last trip was really fun because I had all 6 of the older boys and the cousins are all very good friends, having truly grown up together since infancy. We drove up to our favorite campground on Tuesday and found lots of snow. Here's a photo of all of them trying to make a sled out of a log. It didn't work, but made a nice picture!

The boys did pull weeds for us for about 30 minutes one morning. I challenged them to pull as many as they could before the biscuits were done and they ran out and got a huge amount done! That garden area is crying for some vegetables to be planted in it but we just don't plan to be there enough, so we just putter in it when we're there. There are a lot of wildflowers coming up from last year's crop, a couple of volunteer tomato plants, the grapes, raspberries, artichokes and strawberries still doing well. We ate several artichokes while there, though not all of the boys like them. We also spent one day at Dad's helping him with some things and picking cherries from one of his trees. We picked 4 gallons and that doesn't include all we ATE as we picked! It was hard to stay on my low-carb plan with so much fresh fruit, but I managed to lose another lb. anyway. The boys spent all day Wednesday in the creek and two of them went shirtless and got burned. Blaine's back is burned and Christian's legs (he kept his shirt on). I've slathered him with Aloe Vera lotion, so hope that takes some of the sting away. I had sunscreen but spaced it out and didn't put it on them before they went outside.

Anne, I'm glad J's coughing wasn't too bad and hope he is getting better. Respiratory issues can get scary at this stage of life. I'm glad you got all the bills and bookwork done and it sounds like some fairly nice days at work (both jobs) lately. Hope that continues. Good idea to watch the webinar while ironing. That's what I'd have done. I always listen to the Message of the Month CDs from the ministries I support while ironing and/or sewing. It's a good way to feed my mind while doing mindless work. Did you ever find out why your friend called you? Maybe it was accidental, but it would be worrisome when she didn't answer your return call!

Lindie, I was so thankful I had that soup on the shelf last night! We were all tired from driving all day and I didn't want to spend the money to feed them in a restaurant again. They aren't cheap to feed anymore, as you can tell by the photo! I have some chili canned, too and might use some of that tonight. It would even be good over a green salad--like taco salad--and I can eat that. I had some pancake mix in the pantry, so they got waffles for breakfast. Now I'm out of that, bread, eggs, bacon & sausage and fresh veggies and fruits. Time to make a grocery run. I guess I'll take Tim home when I go to town. He's been gone for more than a week and I'm sure would like to see his mom and sleep in his own bed for a while.

Oh--I forgot to post the pic of my flannel shirt when I got it done. I really like it and will make more (someday) but it will be a while before I actually WEAR it now that it's so hot. Here it is:

Betsy, how are you doing today? Are you done yet? What's on the agenda for your weekend?

emoticon *Its Friday and the weekend is in sight - hang in there Betsy, you can do this, yes you can !!

Terri, you are so talented in making soups and things, look how much you must save when you grocery shop, oh sure there are some items you may need - but over all - you do well with your canning and such, is it tuna season yet, or not this year ? Glad you are back home too !

Anne, I was busy and got the shredding finally all sorted, just a small amount to do now, found stuff from years ago for work, not work, but cards, etc, so in the shredder it went, also awards and stuff I don't need now, as I intend never ever to work again. Hope your day goes well at your two jobs !!

Cathy, how sad, but hang in there, one day soon, Reaghann will be an adult and you wont' need permission. I love that Charise is older now and I can just ask her ! It is also good that you did not play both ends as some would have done - do what you can with Reaghann like today and enjoy the day with her.

Dianne, I wear leggings as well, prefer them to pantyhose which I can't find that stays up or the crotch does not sag - I hate that - at least the leggings stay up - I have some with patterns and some that are plain - I wear them in the winter under dresses too - what ever you are comfortable with go for it - I get mine from The Great Canadian Superstore which is better then Walmart for these things - I can get my size ! Good going on the work out with weights - have not done that in ages ! Glad you are not going to the job anymore this school year - do you think you will continue there, or find something elsewhere ?

I am doing good on the bike - up to 20 minutes now and ready to go level 4 on the tension !

Hope you all have a good weekend, I certainly will enjoy mine - they predicted cooler temps, and I like that !

Hi all!
Cathy, glad you are able to have days with Reagann. I bet a certain individual wants you to pay for a trip for the family to go to Disney. Very sad that one set of grandparents are okay and not the other. Don't blame you for not wanting to deal with the ^^^^^^! Enjoy Toy Story 4. I haven't I've seen 2 or 3 yet, lol!

Dianne, I must admit that I'm a bit amazed you were told before you went up! I wear leggings, usually under my dress like Cathy, but have worn them with a long shirt/blouse too. Not sure I have the stamina to do weight lifting. Were they free weights or on the machines?

Terri, glad you made it back safe and sound. I agree with Cathy, the parents of the three that are staying with you are glad to be able to work without the extra care the kids can require. Glad the boys enjoyed the soup!

Lindie, don't be too busy, lol!

Betsy, last day of the extras! Bet you are looking forward to the weekend!

My goofy gf called me yesterday at 4:16 in the morning and didn't leave a message, nor answer when I called her right back. Unfortunately I didn't get to my cell phone fast enough. Last night I made sure that my cell was turned off when I put it on the charger! I am very tired and can not wait for today to be done! Late for Mass, so I guess I'll get some cleaning done here at home before I head to the rectory.

Have a good day!

Anne

Dianne, so glad you were told before you drove there---definitely a plus for you. Sounds like a tough workout. Now, if you looked like me, I wouldn't suggest leggings but I am sure you look good in them. I have seen a lot of older ----not teens-- wearing them---they like that they are comfortable. Do you find that they stay at your waist when you do exercises? It seems like I am always pulling my pants back up when I do anything that calls for bending---and I notice that a lot of skinny people have to do the same but generally don't have to do that with the couple of pair of leggings I have----I only wear mine with dresses though---much easier than putting on panty hose. Lots of ladies are doing that, tool
Anne, and Lindie, glad you are all being busy.
Terri, glad you are back to the loghouse. Bet you now have to mow the lawn there---LOL Good thing you have a well-stocked pantry. How much have they got done on the barn house? I am sure she is glad not to have to entertain or worry where the boys are while she works on that place. I wish we were allowed to have Reagann like that---I just got told very rudely last night that we could not take Reagann to Disney without them and they are not taking her out of school for a trip---like they haven't done that in the past? And she goes out of state all the time with Shari's mom as she lives in Virginia. I am done trying anything with that ^^^^^^.
Eye doctor appointment went well. I don't have to go back for a year. The girl listened to me about the dilating eye drops and put in a milder version of the drop so my eyes did not hurt all afternoon and evening. I got the one side done and the other side half way done yesterday---just the bottom needs to be emptied and then polish on that section.
Reagann is here and we just planned on going to see Toy Story 4 today.

We're home, two boys delivered to their parents and 4 still with us. Tim will go home with his dad (to the coast) tomorrow after work and I'll keep the other three (from the ranch) until their parents ask for them or I'm ready for a break.

I'll likely go to town for groceries tomorrow and run some errands. My cupboards are not bare, but I need some fresh stuff. I was able to open two jars of Turkey soup (from our huge Thanksgiving bird) and add noodles for dinner tonight. The boys loved it and wanted more, but it's late, so I sent them to bed.

Cathy, I seldom know what day it is!

Morning! I am proud of myself--even though I am a little sore from yesterday's class, I went today to weightlifting! Had sweat dripping off my elbows at one point! I got 2 pairs of leggings yesterday--cost about $15 a pair and they are really nice--but I did stop the subscription cause I don't need any more. These are thick, moisture-wicking and look pretty good! DDs might not like them but I do! (They have said I am too old to wear leggings--I beg to differ!)

Cathy--glad you had veggies! I really enjoyed the ones from our farm share--cukes and zucchini, spinach and snow peas, kale and lettuces. And garlic scapes--easy to cut up into whatever I am making. Good luck with the cleaning!

Terri--glad you have had a little rest at the canyon--guess things look okay. Is it off the market right now?

Anne, Betsy and Lindie--hope all is well!

Oh--I got a text yesterday about 3 PM that the school for today had cancelled so I didn't have to go to the park today. Hooray! The commute was likely awful since we have rain in the area AGAIN. But--finding out I didn't have to go BEFORE I got there is very nice! So I am done till Sept--and no promises have been made for the fall.

Anne, hope you had just a regular day at both jobs and no extra chores sent your way. Hopefully you slept better last night. We wish we had a Cracker Barrel a lot closer than over an hour away. But I don't really care for their breakfasts.
Dianne, no wonder she took a job closer to home, especially with your traffic. Will you try a different one next time you get a massage?
Terri, that's a good sign that there is water still in that creek---hopefully California will have enough rain this year. Glad you all enjoyed your time in the canyon and got some rest as well as the grass mowed.
I only deep clean once a year, especially in the kitchen---it takes a while in there as I empty all the cabinets and wipe them down and then have to wait until the inside dries before replacing things back in there. I filled a trash can full with outdated foods yesterday---didn't make dh too happy with another full trash can but shouldn't have that much to throw away in the dish cabinets. The drawers took a bit longer as I got some organizing stuff at the Dollar Tree to help in those drawers. Today I will clean the outside with wood polish of that section and move everything off that counter and clean it good and wipe down the things on there. Hope to start on the next set of cabinets but have an eye doctor appointment at 1 today which will interfere with momentum plus it is going to be hotter today so the afternoon in the kitchen might not be very comfortable.
Picked my first squash and 2 cucumbers yesterday---fixed us squash fritters for our main meal along with sliced cucumbers for dh. Boy, it was nice to eat fresh from the garden veggies.
Have a good day! It's Thursday--I need to remind myself what day it is already!

I'm on an errand run. Steve's napping in his chair after we mowed and weed whacked this morning. The boys are playing in the creek, building dams and pools. The water won't be there in a couple of weeks and we're amazed that it's there now. It's always dry by the end of May.

Going home tomorrow. Steve doesn't want to get started on anything else here and doesn't have his tools anyway.

Morning. I didn't sleep well--my massage therapist moved over 40 miles away--she did have a long commute and took a job near her house but I really miss her. My neck is sore--likely slept on it funny. I got out late today and did a high intensity interval training (HIIT class) and really worked hard. Now to shower and get going on the day.

Cathy--you are really doing a great job cleaning. I need to do that and just start weeding out stuff that we don't need/use. Easier said than done!!

Anne--sorry you didn't sleep too well. I agree that a warm humid rain is easier to take than a cold one. Damp and cold really gets to me now.

Not many plans for today. The exercise class this AM has wiped me out--but in a good way. I will go see Bob today--and need to get to the bank. We are going to go to DD2's house on Sat and get stuff that she doesn't need for the summer so she won't have to haul it when she moves. Not sure we will be around to help her move. emoticon I do like to assist!

Dianne, good for you walking, even inside, when it's humid! Unless the ac is running, it seems like humidity is able to permeate the house and then everything feels gross! Although, I think I have to admit that I'd rather a humid rain than a raw, cold rain. Sorry your massage wasn't as good as you would have liked. Did your therapist move to a different studio? Glad you can just let Bob vent, especially since there is nothing you can do about his kids! I think going to the park once a week isn't so bad...except if you sit there twiddling your thumbs! I hope your friend sells everything on Saturday. Will you visit if she does?

Cathy, sounds like you had a great day yesterday! I enjoy Cracker Barrel, but J isn't a big fan. My cousins love it and will ask us to join them for dinner there. That's the only way I tend to get him there. Hope you manage to accomplish a lot in the kitchen today so you can cross it off your cleaning list! Are you hoping to get your heavy cleaning done before you get together with Joy? Enjoy the pool!

J wasn't coughing that much so I went to bed in V's bed last night. Sadly I didn't sleep all that well. I was hoping for a much better night's sleep there. Needless to say, I'm not in the mood to get moving. Just a regular day at both jobs, I think!

Have a good Wednesday!

Anne

Terri, bet the parents are glad not to have them underfoot. Glad they can enjoy the creek and also pull some more weeds for you. Sounds like a win for both. Nice that you can get some visiting done and relax a bit. Has Steve started some project at the canyon or is he doing a bit of relaxing, too?
Anne, glad those pesty bills are taken care of. Hope J wasn't too bad with his coughing last night. Jade just doesn't settle down too much and wanted some attention during the storm.
Dianne, maybe the son is paying part of his bills at the home and he hasn't told his dad that so he wouldn't worry about it. Sad when people get mad about money issues---if you don't want to give it to them and want to hold it over their heads, then don't give it to them. Good idea to walk inside. It was pretty humid here yesterday but not as bad at Rehobeth---but we didn't do a whole lot of walking except at one outlet center when we walked from Christmas Tree Hill to the Carter Outlet.
Had a lovely time with my friend. Visited a few stores and ate at Cracker Barrel---yummy! Then when we came back to Salisbury I took her to the Island Creamery for ice cream---I didn' t eat any dinner so I think I did okay for the day.
Back to cleaning today---need to work in the kitchen early as that room warms up with afternoon sun. I might work in there in the morning and then start some of the work in the dining room in the afternoon when it is too warm in there.
Have a good day----pool tonight for me.

Hi, all. I did walking this AM for exercise--inside cause too humid outside. And it has been rainy all day. I did get a massage--I miss my old therapist--she was really good. This wasn't....sadly. We had a nice dinner--fresh cucumbers, zucchini, carrots and spinach from the CSA--and chicken nuggets!

I don't know if we are going back to the park next year--even this fall, I will do no more than 1 day a week for schools. Still have to go on Thursday but don't need to arrive till 9:30--that alleviates much of the traffic. LAST TIME for the season--HOORAY. And I am going to help sell stuff on Sunday with my friend--unless it is all gone after Saturday.

I think Bob wanted some cash--he feels he is so broke--and says his son owes him $35K cause he bought the family house and never really paid his dad that money he agreed to pay--I just stay out of that. We did get the radio going so he can listen to the classical station--he has enjoyed that! Not sure when his daughter will be by--she is camping in Canada right now and he was ticked that she wasn't there ON Father's Day--again, I shut up....

Hope things are going okay--sounds like it! Anne--let me know if you get dates!

Terri, sounds like the boys are really enjoying themselves. Nice that they are helping pull those nasty old weeds! Enjoy the rest of your stay and any more visiting you may do.

Cathy, good job with the laundry room! Was the plant inside our outside? Will it grow another tendril in the cut off one's place? Hope you had fun with your friend. How does Jade behave when thunderstorms come through?

I got all my filing done, including getting all the credit card receipts in order. I also got my rectory reimbursement paperwork done. Now that I have a credit card for the church/rectory I hope I won't have to do any more of them, lol! I am feeling more caught up now.

J seems a bit better than this morning. I am still planning to go to bed either on the sofa or in V's bed. It will depend upon how much coughing he is doing later after he's gone to bed. Lying down may aggravate the coughing and I'd rather be within earshot in case he wants/needs something.

Trying to get some printing done and am having a battle with the printer. It is calling me again, so I should get off the computer and deal with the printer!

Have a good night!

Sorry J's sick, Anne. I hope it doesn't last long or turn into something worse.

Good job on the cleaning, Cathy. You're making good progress.

I hope this week is easier for you, Betsy. I have a bunch of older boys this week, but no babies and they're big enough to go play outside and that's what they've done. They're spending a lot of time in the creek since it still has a good amount of water.

We're staying a few more days in the canyon because the boys begged to stay and their parents said it was okay. We've gotten a lot of weeds pulled and lots of visiting done.

Lindie and Dianne--Hiya!

Anne, I hear you on that---they whine a lot and ignore us when we are sick but expect lots of attention when they feel bad---my dh has learned that doesn't work----LOL Did you get everything done that you talked about? Sounds like more of a project on those files.
Betsy, will he be able to return to work even after 6 weeks? How scary for that family. Who is running the show at the Park? I know you have been very wet up there and guess it is good that it has slowed down the pace at the Park . Are the kids behaving better this week? Our teachers have 10 years to get their masters after being hired and the county pays for 3 or 4 classes per year but the teacher has to pay first and then get reimbursed. Around here you can get your master's equivalency by taking classes and not doing a dissertation which a lot go that route unless they want to teach at a college level or head to some supervisory position. And they go for the easiest degree which is education and the classes are so boring and no help at all to their teaching as the college professors haven't been in the classroom is so long and don't know how these kids act and learn now.
Dianne, what in the world is Bob thinking? What do you buy for someone in a nursing home? I know a lot of people struggle to figure out what to buy at the holidays for loved ones in the homes. And if he wants to see his family more, then he needs to let his DD move him down there. He just sounds like he is grumpy. Glad your group is helping your friend out a bit with buying her stuff. I am sure she is glad it will be put to good use and she can have a bit of money for it to help with medical bills.
I got the laundry room all cleaned up---plants were cleaned up a bit and one long tendril was cut off the vining plant---it is about 4 foot long and I didn't cut it all the way back to the main base----but I still have plenty of other vines over the windows. Got rid of a few things in those cabinets. Had Dh got thru a plastic container and a cat litter bucket and he discovered that most of it needed to go down to the basement with his stuff---yippee! Less clutter for me to deal with. Even started on the cabinets in the kitchen with the food stuff---reorganizing that stuff when I put it back inside. Dh will be a bit frustrated looking for stuff for a bit---heehee---but most of the stuff is still pretty close to where it was..
Today I am meeting up with a Parkside friend and going up to Rehobeth to Cracker Barrel and do a bit of retail shopping.
Major thunderstorm came thru last night about 10---Jade did not like it at all----but I was glad to get the rain here as my veggies and flowers needed it.

Hi all!
Betsy, best wishes for your DD1 as she moves along for her Masters. It is not easy when you are working, too! Does WI require teachers to have a Masters? I'm pretty sure MA does.

Dianne, does the group intend to work the same park again next year? Will you be helping out there again? Good idea to let Bob vent. It would not be good to disagree outright with him. Perhaps he is right and the family wasn't generous with gifts...however, in a nursing home environment, less is better! I'm sure that run was tough and DD2 is rightly sore! Good idea to move some things for now. Another time when less is better, lol! I totally understand the "no 'joy' left...that was how I felt about choir, and so I left.

I managed to get most of my filing done...though I do need to mark some paid bills still and file them, as well as attach the receipts to the 2 credit card bills we have. My medical files need to be reorganized and perhaps include subfolders. Work went fast tonight and things seemed to fall right into place. It was good.

J has a cold and is miserable. It's going to be a rough go until he feels better, ughh! I really dislike sick men, lol!

Have a good night!

Anne

Hi, all! I have been to the pool for my class, met with the history group to look at stuff we are buying (looks like group is going to spend $300 or so--I am getting $114 of clothes and stuff), then stopped by the home to see Bob. His son and family were there yesterday--he is mad that they didn't bring him much re: gifts and his DD won't see him till July--I think he was just venting and I will let him vent.

Talked to 2 of the girls today--they are doing okay. DD2 is sore after her run yesterday. We are driving up to get some of her stuff to store over the summer--so she won't have to move it in her car. (They will have to rent a van/truck to move beds but anything we can help with is good.)

Lindie--not thinking too much about the cruise yet--going to WI in July so that has to happen first!

Anne--there are other people doing other things but I seem to be the one who is always getting the "staples" and the lunch fixings stuff. Teams need a coordinator and I have done that but it tends to be more work! I'd like someone else to take the coordinator job--just take the whole thing cause no "joy" left. Glad you have a plan for your work.

Cathy--hope the cleaning goes well. We have the AC on more for humidity than the temps.

Betsy--hope the kids are doing okay! Glad you are getting some help from DD1. I assume DD2 had fun in NYC and is back at work. She is full time there?

Terri--hope all is fine!

Hi all!
Dianne, how many families did you shop for? Isn't there a team for this program? If not, there should be! Congrats to the DD's for their hard work!

Lindie, J generally doesn't head out in rain to fish, however, he has gotten caught in rain, lol! He's okay as long as there's no thunder and lightning going on! My VHS player died, too. We have a lot of taped movies on VHS. I'd just as soon toss them than to convert them. Obviously, since we haven't watched them in ages we don't need them. I would like to convert a few of the family activity ones though. Glad the cough is going away and that you didn't end up with a sinus infection from the cold! Will you have to wait long for the physical?

Betsy, glad you had a good weekend and how nice that DD1 is staying to help today. Too bad DH didn't have tomorrow off, so you could have help then, too! Wow! How many more classes will DD1 need to take to finish her Master's? Prayers for your DH's superintendent!

Cathy, J did put fabric under all that mulch. He's a firm believer in the fabric, lol! He has it in his vegetable garden, too...though right now it isn't covered. I think he usually covers it with hay; I'll have to ask him about that! Good luck with your heavy cleaning!

Terri, hope your having fun! Safe travels on your return home!

I opened and locked up the church for Mass. Afterwards I came home and wrote up and emailed the notes from last Wednesday's picnic planning meeting. I also adjusted the bulletin notice for this weekend's bulletin...just realized that I never sent it off to the secretary...good thing she's not there today, lol! Once I finished that up I went to the hair salon and got my hair cut...short for the summer. Now I need to do some filing, banking, and bill paying. Booooo! I also want to go onto Staples and order some file boxes so that I can go through Fr. B's files and put them away. They are all in hanging files inside "Banker Boxes" but the hanging files don't fit quite right. If they are in hanging file boxes they should fit better and he can decide whether he wants to put them into a file cabinet or just leave them in their respective box. Wish I didn't have to go into work in a few. Boooo to work!

Have a good Monday!

Anne

Cathy, DD1 is taking two Master's classes and prepping for next school year. So far so god for the park and DH but we have had a lot of wet weather so that has kept the pace slower.I can still hear traces of the bronchitis at times but he is doing much better. His park superintendent , younger than we are, had a massive brain bleed so he is out for six weeks or more. He is very lucky his wife is a nurse and saved his life.

Heigh Ho....Have a marvelous Monday!

Anne, hope he laid some landscape fabric under that mulch. It does look nice now and was definitely needed. Glad to see that you left plenty of room for the plants to grow---they will fill in nicely. Now you need a couple of statues out there---LOL Did you understand any better after the webinar? Glad you didn' t lose time at work while watching it---that did seem like an awful time for it to occur. Sorry J couldn't go fishing and leave you alone with the paperwork---hope he didn't bother you too much and you caught up.
Dianne, your dds are sure into the running. Glad someone enjoys it---LOL Did you go visit Bob? It was definitely warmer and more humid but no rain or storms. Could have used some rain.
Lindie, I would have taken it out for the chocolate---LOL I did make Dh do the vacuuming on Saturday. Even though I am off for the summer, he will still be expected to clean up the kitchen after dinner---can't let him forget how----LOL
Betsy, glad you will have dd1 to help today. What is she doing this summer? How is your dh handling the park work this year? Hope the older kids behave better this week for you.
We had a nice time yesterday with Michael and Ashlee, Matthew, and Colman, my rider/workmate over for steak and burgers, baked potatoes, and baked beans. Just what dh wanted. Think I will go get some salad fixings today and make a steak salad for my main meal today.
Starting my major cleaning today---think the laundry area but need to do that early as that room heats up fast and it is going to be 90 today outside.
Hope everyone has a lovely week.

It has been a great weekend of celebrating with family. We had a few hours with DS here as well. As a belated gift for me, DD1 agreed to stay and work with me tomorrow. DH has another day off tomorrow so he will be here too. If only they could stay all week!

emoticon beautiful pictures Anne, lovely !! How did you enjoy the webinar ? Would you do that again ? Some men go fishing in the rain, it doesn't stop them - No, I did not do the recycling, he did and most of it is from all the packaged foods that he buys - and he has to learn to rince the plastic containers that food comes in, not just put it in the recycling with food bits still on them - he sorts it into a plastic bag - if I take it out he has to buy me dark chocolate ! I think he likes that idea LOL BUT he did get the water ready for me to wash the floor, and I told him, he had to sweep it first before I could wash it - he did emoticon me thinks he will do less grumbling in the future ! He did a lot of riding on his bike the 2 days he was off.

Dianne, that was sooo good of you and your dh to help Bob so he can watch picture / movies of his family - I have a dvd of one of Charise's dance rehearsals - I have a couple of VHS but the VHS part of my machine is not working anymore and Gene has taken it apart 2 times now - I guess I need a new machine ... the DVD part works great though ... Wow your girls are doing great with their running - aren't you running too, though ? Are you getting excited for your cruise yet ?

Cathy, you were the Mr Clean tornado yesterday with all that you accomplished - I did not get much done and am thinking of changing the living room around again, maybe when Gene is home so he can help, the bike is just in the way and it would be better off to the side .... we will see, but the area where I want the bike to go on an angle has to be cleaned up too - maybe I will work on that this afternoon - it will be too hot to go out anyway. Enjoy your time with your boys today !

Still coughing but not as much, just the occasional cough - when I least expect it, be glad when its gone gone gone, at least it did not go into my sinuses this time. plus I need to go have a physical at the clinic too, was suppose to do that way back when the test results were done but the cold / sinus infection prevented that.

Terri, Betsy, hope you both are enjoying your weekend with your family.

Anne--how pretty! The hostas are pretty--mine get eaten by the deer. Looks lovely!!

Yes, Happy Father's Day to men who make an impact on our lives! We are going to make a nice dinner for hubby--well, I am going to. The girls did not make it home--DD2 did a half marathon today in 3 hours and 15 minutes. She did very well! I hope it was cooler there. DD1 did a full marathon distance one day this past week--she was pretty wiped out. DD3 went to a mudder with my sister and her family--that was yesterday and they left today to go to Niagara Falls. She was glad she hadn't said yes to running it. DD3 was going to go to the gym today to run a bit. She has a gym membership and is going for the first time!

Cathy--I can still use the help with cleaning! LOL Sounds like you are doing well. Not sure if Bob's DD is going to be there today--I may stop over to just say hi to him.

Our church guests come today for the week so I have to go shop for their food for the week. I really want to give this job to someone--I am no longer "serving with joy". I also cannot just STOP and leave the director in the lurch. But--I want to quit!

So--off I go so I can get the job done and get home! We are expecting bad weather later.

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MEN IN YOUR LIVES, even if they aren't actual Dads!

Cathy, glad the last day of school went well. I do not blame you for not wanting a one-on-one. I'm sure the teacher you work with will be happier too...you helped her out A LOT this year! Parents can often be worse than the kids, lol! I guess the Bible is where some of us tend to keep special things. Mine has the cards that you get from the family of the deceased at the wake or in the appreciation note. Hope you have a nice time with the boys today! May the weather be good for your outing on Tuesday!

Dianne, I sure hope DD1 kept herself quite hydrated during/after that 4 mile run in such high heat! Good luck to your DD2 in breaking her record! I hope she isn't running in high heat! Scary and sad about that accident! So nice that your DH helped out Bob, too! You are wonderful to go visit and sing with those folks at the nursing home, especially after how the nursing home help have treated you!

Lindie, Gene is too funny grumbling about all the recycling. If it wasn't in the recycling, it would be in the trash and it would still need to be put out, lol! Who ended up taking it out? If you, what is Gene doing in place of it? I think I would not have headed to the kitchen with all the grumbling going on, lol! I did the webinar while ironing, which was good because I was working while at work and watching/listening too! I didn't have to dock my time, lol!

Betsy, glad DD1 came for a surprise visit! Were you able to spend much time together? It sounds as though the extra kids need extra helpers. The different age brackets do create a different kind of work! Hope you get some rest this weekend!

Terri, hope you and the clan are having a wonderful weekend!

J got the plant bed finished. I took some pictures and need to find a before picture. I'll work on that after breakfast. I was hoping the weather would be better today so that he would go fishing...but rain off and on is the forecast! I have paperwork that I need to catch up on...actually most of it is marking paid and filing. I also need to work on the collaborative picnic information. We had our first meeting last Wednesday, so the notes need to be sent out to those who came and those who didn't but are interested in helping. I also need to pull the info out on some who were interested a few years ago that I didn't reach out to. Many hands make light work! Going to make breakfast. Back later!

Dianne, sounds like your weather was like mine yesterday---it was just lovely here, too. So nice of your dh to hook that up for him---hope he remembers how to change between DVD and TV---our son had to tape instructions to the back of the remote for us to remind us how to do that---now it's easy but not at first---LOL Are you going to try to see his dd today? Are you taking your Dh out for Father's Day?
Anne, hope you found some fun time, too.
Guess everyone else was busy, too.
Got a lot accomplished yesterday--laundry done and put away, even washed the bathroom rugs and the blankets I keep out in the living room. It was just too nice to not do something outside so I went out early and swept the patio and pulled some weeds out there and swept the back deck---even found time later on to go sit on the deck, too. Helped Dh clean his grill area, too. Started the cleaning in the kitchen by tackling the stove and that counter. Washed dishes and did a quick clean of the other counters. Got Dh to vacuum, then I did quick dusting before tackling the stuff piled on the edge of the couch and the coffee table. WEnt thru the old Bible of my Moms and looked at all the clippings---might see if my niece wants them---mostly death notices but one article on Newark was very interesting..
Made plans for Tuesday to meet up with a friend from Parkside and we will go out to lunch and some retail shopping. Going to do my cleaning in stages otherwise I get bored too quick and stop---LOL
Hope everyone has a lovely Father's Day! Expecting 2 of my boys---one is working.

Hi, all! It is a glorious day--breeze, warm in the sun, no humidity (at least not yet) and just wonderful. I did a step aerobics class--I really work in that class--moving this body up and down the step is WORK! Then changed shirts and went garage sales! Got a few movies and a puzzle for my folks. Also got a matchbox car for hubby to give to his car pool buddy who is retiring--I expect hubby will have a few words to say to go with it. We also stopped by the home to get hubby to set up Bob's DVD player--I knew I'd never figure out the plugs correctly. When we left, he was watching a DVD of memories--photos of his kids, copies of old family movies--I think he was going to cry. Took hubby all of 5 minutes to set it up. Then I did introduce him to some of the people in the assisted living side--they were telling him I was wonderful....I guess they think so.....

Cathy--glad you had a good last day! Come and clean here if you want! Very happy the weather cooperated for you. Yes--girls on done on Tuesday--their mom finished on Friday.

Betsy--I hope that you get a little rest on the weekend! You are wonderful to take the older kids but maybe you need to charge a bit more and get a teen to watch them in the back yard for you??

Lindie--you made me laugh! The youngest always had the job of recycling--guess that is why it falls to me now. I hope Gene can just learn to deal with it! LOL

Terri and Anne--hope things are going well.

I am finally going to go shower and wash my hair--then may sit outside to let it dry while I read!

Dianne, driving in that rain had to have been no fun along with the amount of traffic---yikes---so glad my area has much better traffic than you guys do. I kind of laugh internally when Dh complains about traffic in our area because I know it is just an annoyance and nothing major like around the big cities and metro areas. Glad you were able to help Bob---boy, he does need his family close by. Are those girls about done with school, too? With half days figure they are ending, too.
Lindie, did you finally end up doing the recycling instead of Gene? Dh was very perturbed when I asked him to unscrew the plexiglass wall cover in the kitchen ---it was really nasty and one of the things I wanted to tackle for my Spring cleaning and wanted it done before we have guests on Sunday. All he had to do was unscrew a couple of things and I did the cleaning---then I did help hold it up when he put it back up. I could have made him vaccum which will happen today---LOL
Betsy, sorry the older ones seem to have been more work than you expected. Time to rethink taking them again and letting the parents know that you won't be doing that in the future. Nice to be surprised by DD1--guessing she is home for Father's Day---is your dh having to work on Sunday?
The weather yesterday was fantastic! Took the kids for their last walk around the track and the breeze and the temps were just wonderful. We had a little celebration for our one and only girl who has a summer birthday. Put snacks out all day long and sent home stuff with the kids. Those cabinets were the last to be cleared out and cleaned. All the kids were picked up a bit early by their buses---we only had 4 to show up anyhow, so we were done with kids about 12:15. We pretty much had everything done by one---so I wandered around a bit and said good bye to those I have made connections with before finally swiping out at 2:45 for the summer! I even had energy when I got home to do some chores---I was definitely in the clearing mode. Hope it continues today. Going to go pop in a load of laundry after posting and start setting my timer while it is lovely cool this morning.
Have a great Saturday!

DD1 surprised me after lunch today and saw how crazy my older boys have been. DH made dinner and then DD1 and I just caught up on the DVR shows and talked. She went to bed and I realized I still needed to login here and do my shoulder exercises. One more week of insanity and then another week of work before glorious vacation. Someday I will catch up properly but can't promise when.

emoticon I am sitting here chuckling to myself as I have spent the last 15 minutes or so listening to Gene grumble about the recycling bins. We have 2 that were over flowing and its HIS job - he kept saying, "another one" lololol and I just stayed in my room chuckling cause I knew he would complain. He came to my room door and said "another one" - starbucks drinks - I said at least they were rinsed - its not for one week its for two weeks - lol and I don't buy every day now cause they changed their reward program but anyway. I walked out into the kitchen and asked him what job he would like to switch to that he would have to do every other day after work - I gave him the choice of cleaning the kitchen, vaccuuming, chasing dust bunnies, or recycling once in a while .... .

OH Cathy, he went to walmart last night and invested 150.00 in your shares LOL I kept putting things in the cart ...course I will give him half the amount - walmart is the only place that sells the Michalina he likes we were there for at least an hour then did the self checkout - we had so much stuff he had to stack it all !

AND he keeps interrupting me about the recycling LOL

Dianne, how sad about that driver, we just do not know when our time could be up - chance and circumstance will befall us at some point. Glad you got home ok. Will you continue doing the farmhouse ? Has your DD2 found a place yet, has she decided what is on her "wishlist" for a place ?

Cathy, Terri's low carb seems easy to do - but the dash diet is also a way to go which would allow for some carbs but not a lot - you might want to research that when you are on the computer - I got the book by Marla Heller MS Rd from the library and liked it - I did well on the induction but should have stayed on it longer - I will try again soon. I even printed up some meal plans so I could just look and see what choice I would have. I really like my snacks, I will have to work on that as well. Although DASH was designed for hypertention, it was also noted it did well for diabetics too, an d Marla's book is for diabetics. So glad you are almost done and can enjoy your summer off - I hope the weather is good for your trip, already the US has had over 500 tornados this year alone !

Anne, I like webinars - its just like an in person seminar but over the web instead of in a rented room - you can do it at home, I take it, and glad you got that monkey off your back. I hope the pt really helped, you can always do some at home if you feel you need to.

Betsy, Terri, hi, hope your both having a great day ! I h ear mumbling in the kitchen I better go tend to it bwahahahahaha

Morning! Guess I didn't get on her yesterday. I worked at the park--commute in was awful--rain so hard the wipers were on high--took over an hour instead of 40 minutes. I was supposed to do the farmhouse and someone else the school--but he is nearly 80 and getting really forgetful--he went in on Wed instead of Thursday so I did the school. We were done before 1--and heard an awful crash--a van had rear ended a semi--and the van driver didn't make it. I couldn't leave till 2 and then traffic was all messed up and took me an hour to get home. Wasn't my day to be on the roads. I keep thinking about that driver--my day isn't as bad as his family's day.

Lindie--Gene needs to see his doctor again. That sounds serious.

Terri--I am supposed to be watching the cholesterol so need to stay away from the eggs. I would love to find some way to drop 30--or even 10. We did go to Texas Roadhouse and the waiter gave us extra rolls! We stopped to see some friends and give them the rolls--I WOULD eat them and don't need them!! I would choose chickens over rattle snakes.

Cathy--hooray for being done! I hope you get all your stuff today so you don't need to go back on Monday. I know it will be hot here but sure was nice this week.

Anne--glad that you are getting stuff done. Good luck with the webinar. We are starting to research that stuff--it isn't easy to understand!

Betsy--hope all is well!!

I have kid pick-up duty today--early dismissal so 12:15 and 1:25-then drop them at home so I can get to the nursing home. Not sure if I will see Bob today--may need to go over tomorrow for a bit. I straightened his room--found Christmas gifts--sweat pants and 2 shirts--he didn't think they could be his but I assured him that they were--right size and everything. So they are in his closet. Also found his watch--that he thought someone had stolen...

Better get moving--plan to run today. Yes, DD1 ran in that heat--but only 4 miles. DD2 runs a half marathon this weekend. Wants to break 3 hours and 30 minutes.

Terri, lots of nice plans for your weekend---guessing we won't hear from you until next week but you will have lots to tell us. I don't remember you telling us that Mary had moved out---not enough room? or something nice really open up quickly that they needed to jump on? I too believe in eating "real" food like eggs---don't want to do those boxed ones or use them in recipes either. Glad your diet is working for you---but I would have a hard time to give up carbs but might need to do that to kick start some weight loss and get dh's sugars under control---he won't be too happy about that---but it needs to be done again. Breakfast would be the hardest time but since I am done school, it might be easier now. Sometimes I just need to grab something quick or easy to eat at the computer. The only plans we have for outside is the shed but that means finally moving the strawberry plants---dh moved a few more this week but he keeps finding more strawberries hiding in the plants---LOL If we have stuff grow from every blossom on our veggie plants we are going to have a bumper crop this year. Really nice rain yesterday and earlier this week has really been helpful, too.
Lindie, hope the new buzzer works well. Sounds like Gene needs to go back to a doctor---that does not sound good--of course, being on his feet a lot doesn't help either. Is he like a guard on the Skytram? Can't make them do what they need to do---LOL We are actually having some very nice weather this week but next week it is going to be hot and humid again I will be heading to Joy's in July this year and we will go on that bus trip to Maine..
Anne, glad your co-worker is done with his treatment for now----is he in remission again? Hope the webinar helps and doesn't confuse you more. Hope you catch up with your bill payments today when you are fresh and that they didn't keep you awake. I need to pay some bills this weekend, too. Hope J gets those plants in the ground this weekend.
Today will be making sure things have teacher's name and room number on it. Just a few more things to throw out like snack foods they don't eat today. Or send it home with them. Had a talk with new principal yesterday---he asked if I would be interested in taking on a one-on-one---I really don't want to do that again and plan on telling him that today when I have my end of year review. The one kid that I know, his is not coming back---don't think it would be a good match plus heard his mom is hard to deal with and I don't want that again after Doug. There might be a new 6th grader who needs one but again, not sure how that would work out. I probably would be the best for them but I prefer my challenged kids and not being in the general population. I think I brought home what I needed to yesterday---maybe a few other things to stick in my bag. Kids want to walk the track today---yesterday was too wet---so i will get some exercise in today.
Happy Flag Day! emoticon It's Friday, pay day, and the last day of school----yippee!

Hi all!
Terri, awesome row of raspberries! I can see delicious jam in the future, lol! Be careful of the rattlers and yes, get some anti-venom to have on hand! Wow! Snow still in CA! Glad it will help the water table. Enjoy your Placerville and Mom's reunion excursion! Where did Mary & her dh move to? I know you told us before, but I forget. Great job with the low carb diet! You can do it!

Cathy, I hope the change of students next year is a good one for all! You have covered a lot for Amy this year, I bet they keep that in mind when they do up the schedule! Sorry the Longhorn's service and dinner were lousy! We have 2 near us and though we don't go often, we have had decent meals and service. Did anyone else feel the same as you about the service and/or the food? You should follow up with a complaint to the management and to the other Red Hats ladies so that they won't go there too soon. Hope you can get all your stuff out of the classroom(s) tomorrow so you do not have to go back on Monday, lol! Glad the kids looked good for the assembly. Are you sad to see the counsellor retire?

Dianne, I'm sorry about the possibility of your brother having Parkinson's. I will keep him (and you) in my prayers. I hope DD2 is able to find a new place quickly. Is she going on the Vancouver trip? Were you able to rest up yesterday and/or sleep better last night? I will see how Fr. B responds to my heading down for a visit and let you know if it will happen. Otherwise I will have to make another plan for us to cross each other off the who I haven't met yet list, lol!

Lindie, sounds like Gene was very, very frustrated with the transit system! Can't say that I blame him! Sorry that it is already hot there and that the summer's forecast indicates similar weather. I hate being on water restrictions, but I guess that is part of life now. I do not remember them as a kid. You are so right about white towels looking dirty after hand washing...very weird phenomenon...guess we don't wash and/or rinse long enough, lol! Did you put that laundry away, lol? Hope the new buzzer works well!

Hi Betsy! Hope all is well!

I finally filed that state diesel report. One monkey off the back! Fingers crossed no red flags come up about how it was figured out...I'll just tell them it is "New Math" LOL! I was released from PT today. I am glad about that...I was finding it more and more difficult getting there. Rich finished his radiation treatments today...that means I can feel less stressed at the gas station in the morning. I was going in there and then trying to be done before 8:00 so that I could open the church early enough for the 9:00'ers. Tomorrow I will be coming home from work to try and catch up on my banking and bill paying. I'd do it tonight, but I am too tired! Not a good bedfellow when you are trying to work with numbers, lol! I signed up for a Webinar about the health insurance. It is from 3:00 til 4:00 tomorrow afternoon. Not sure why it is so long. J is just getting home, so off the computer I go!

Have a good night!

emoticon Another hot one but no rain and that is ok - its going to be like this all summer, unless a storm from the pacific changes the weather pattern. I will just have to get used to it and climatise - I did go out this morning at 8 am and was home by 9 am and already it was hot and I was sweating - good thing I have short hair - it dried fast LOL Last night Gene did not get home until 7 pm and he said his foot felt like he was stepping on glass, so he tried icing his ankle ( the one he broke ) and then decided cold water would be better but he said the water felt hot - it was cold though - I touched the water - it was cold. He was able to fix a salad for his dinner and eat half a wrap he had left from the day before - he tends to buy things then they sit in his bag - he just will not eat on the skytrain - I will cause when I am hungry, I AM eating LOL so often he goes out with just 2 hard boiled eggs to fuel him all day - I told him he will NEVER gain any weight that way ... Cathy, he tends to nap after work/ dinner too then is awake at 9 and can't sleep - last night he hopped on the bike in the dark ! When I went to the washroom before bed, I looked in and saw the bike screen glowing but did not know he was on it ! I was gonna go turn it off HA HA ... today we got a new intercom system for our building as our old one, drifters kept trying to break into to access the building. I need someone to buzz me - maybe I will go buzz me and then turn it off LOL

Terri, thanks for that information, I tend to do the same thing and snacking is my biggest downfall - I can eat low carb but then the munchies strike - I need to work on that - or find better munchies ! Sounds like a good plan for your weekend, and just lounging on Sunday after church might just be the ticket.

Well, Cathy, it wont' be long now eh ? You will be able to stay home, not work and yet still get paid - Have you firmed up your plans with Joy ? I am sure you are looking forward to getting away.

Dianne, Betsy, hope your both having a good day !

Lindie, I eat eggs nearly every day for breakfast in some form. Today, I just grabbed a hard-boiled egg and added a little salt. Yesterday, I had bacon and fried eggs, but we often have scrambled eggs with some sausage in them. I need to go grocery shopping, but haven't taken the time, so am about out of fresh veggies. I like an omelet for breakfast, too; however, I use whole eggs. I miss the toast and biscuits sometimes, but not enough to stop my plan. I'm down nearly 30 lbs from my highest weight (20 of that since my surgery) so I'm going to continue what I'm doing. I'm trying to just 6eat real food, but if I have a serious craving (like for chocolate), I will go to an Atkins treat. I had a chocolate Atkins snack yesterday that tasted very much like a Snicker's Bar and it was just right. I still have about 50 to lose before I'm in a healthy zone, I think.

Cathy, it doesn't sound like there will be much getting done at school besides babysitting the students for a few hours. That's pretty normal as I recall. Do you have any big projects planned for the summer? I know you do your big house cleaning, but what about the yard? Will Howard get his new shed?

We're going to Placerville tomorrow with 6 grandsons. We'll spend the night, then drive to Yuba City (90 minutes from there) for my mother's family reunion, then back to Placerville to see the John M Studebaker International Wheelbarrow Races at the fairgrounds. They're celebrating the 75th anniversary of the races this year, so there will be a lot of historical wheelbarrow-related information and themes. We'll go to church on Sunday and then putter around, and come back on Monday. I had thought that we might drive up to our favorite campground to let them goof around since we won't be going camping this year (again), but I just saw on FB that it's still snowed in and we can't get there. That's good news for the California water table!

Sorry to hear about your brother, Dianne. I hope the diagnosis isn't definite and that he can get the thyroid issues under control.

Betsy, you can do this. Rest when you can! One more week after this?

Dianne, we all need that verse from time to time, but oh, so hard not to worry, especially when it's our kids. Hopefully your brother isn't coming down with that but hope he can find some relief. Hope dd2 can find a nice place that she can afford on her own but know that can be difficult. Always something! I did take my bag----but barely touched my stuff yesterday---busy organizing all the pencils, scissors, markers, crayons, etc yesterday and getting that stand ready to be rolled away for the summer. I did bring home a bag full though---my 2 sweaters and my hats from Carnival day filled the bag. Today will be more things from my desk to deal with as the other assistant and I went thru and emptied 3 boxes of papers, combined a box with craft stuff we found, and reused one box to store our colored paper and empty folders.
Terri, I don't know if moth balls work with rattlers but I would definitely recommend a big box of them to be put under that porch and refreshed every few months---they will keep a lot of varmints away. I can understand Adam not wanting a bunch of chickens roaming around but if they will keep rattlers away, I would want them myself---and I am afraid of the darn things---LOL HOpe you are not as hot as Dianne's dd1!
Lindie, sorry it is so hot there---have you gotten ac for that place? Guess Gene was trying to burn off his frustration on the bike. Not fun to have to figure out a new way home when it is hot and you are tired. I have been staying up later this week---mostly because I have been so tired I need a nap when I get home---LOL---not a win situation--but I did wake up before the alarm this morning. Actually been nice enough to not need the ac the last 2 days---of course next week when I am off will be super hot again.
Our kids looked nice for the assembly. Only 2 of them left afterwards so we still had 6 of them until 12ish. I just let them play on their tablets and we got lunch--probably a repeat today of that same pattern as we finish cleaning up the room. We have some kind of luncheon today and also a good-bye to those who are retiring----I just know the one person, a guidance counselor, but think there are a couple of others I don't know by name. I barely know anyone's name other than the few I interact with each day, being in a self -contained room does limit my surroundings.
Have a nice day---rain here today for me.

Good afternoon, what a warm day it will be today and the rest of the summer, we are already in drought conditions and on water restriction. I did 2 loads of laundry today and that will be it for the week. Its all folded and on my bed waiting for me to put it away LOL I want to reorganize my linen closet, a friend gave me a towel set with pink roses and butterfly on it so I washed them and no idea where I will put them, they really should not be used ! And they are white and you know how dirty white can get after a few hand washes. Infact I find it funny that I thoroughly wash my hands and yet my hand towels get dirty where I dry my hands! Must be the dust bunnies - they like to drive me insane ! Yesterday Gene text me that he was stuck at Marine Dr due to an accident where the north bound Oak Street bus turns onto the via duct to Oak so traffic was back up and buses were being rerouted. I told him to get on the 100 cause that is a gas bus and can bypass - but he got on an Oak which was not going where he needed to go and he and a crowd of people got off the first stop they could as the driver did not make the announcement until he turned in the wrong direction for that route. Many were angry. I texted Gene to just go to Mcdonald's - that is where the bus stop was and go have his dinner and come home later - but he crossed and then caught the 100 home. At least he will know for future! When he got home, he got on his bike and he did peddling all night at a very high tension! I told him he can't strengthen his leg in one day he has to do it gradually and if his ankle is bothering him, he should go back to the doctor and stop playing doctor ! Do they listen ??? NOPE - not until a coworker says to do that will he do it ... grown kids, whatcha gonna do with them, you never stop worrying or being a parent even though they think they know better!

Dianne, I well know your inability to sleep when things are crowding in on your mind. I spend many sleepless nights and part of it is my fault because I see problems that are not really there, but could be and of course sometimes they never do become a problem. Especially with my family! I have found though that when I take all these issues to our Heavenly Father in prayer I sleep much much better and within a day or two I read a scripture that helps ! Amazing how that works ! I am sorry your brother may have Parkinson's Disease, that is so hard to deal with, but your post reminded me of a Utube video I watched about a substance that is derived from the marijuana plant before it becomes hallucinatory and a person with this had no control over their body until they had this substance - I forget what it is called, but my neighbour down the hall has it and uses it to help her sleep ! Maybe do some research on that - it might help, if you at least research it to help your brother that might help ease your mind on that ...

Terri, my goodness your gonna have tons of raspberries which is very low in carbs - I do not like them personally, I like a bit of sweetness to my fruits so will you make jam when the time ir right ? I can see you making syrup too ! I hope you find those rattlers too ! Never thought of them being there, where there is one next there might be another, is there a natural deterent you can use ? Do be careful and maybe have that serium available just incase ! Oh MY Goodness !!! By the way, what do you have for breakfast as low carb ? I usually do egg white omlettes but I am getting tired of them. Sometimes I will do yogurt ... I was thinking about those skirts that you and Jenn made a while back - I was thinking it would be nice to have one or two for summer - but of course I can't sew worth beans, I was thinking I might find some online and buy that way... but I would want all cotton ...

Anne, nothing wrong with disposable plates and what not - I sure would not want to do dishes all day long like in a restaurant lol - I have lots of hand sanitizer here too, I do have germ phobia - there is NO 5 or any second rule here, if it hits the floor its in the food bin period ! I am sure in time you will be able to understand the new priest better, and then it won't be so much of a guessing game ! I hope you can resolve the issues at the gas station too, what would either place of employment do without you ? ! ?

Cathy it won't be long now, enjoy that last few days and remember that bag ! Would you believe I slept in today till 7 AM ? I did course I did not go to bed until 11 PM but I dont' think I wanna stay up that late every night just to sleep in lol That is too bad about the restaurant issue, and yes you should have sent that meal back and asked to speak to a manager about your waiter's attitude - if they don't know they can't address it and maybe other people are having that issue - maybe a card to the manager suggesting their staff view the utube on how to give the customer a pickle, its a great video for those in the service industry, even we reviewed it as government officials as we also were in the service industry.

Betsy, no post from you yet, are you surviving ? I hope the assessment went well and suggestions forthcomming are helpful and not additional work for you .. Poor Landon, it must be very frustrating and difficult for him.

Ok time to put the laundry away, it just sits there !!!

Amen and Amen, Dianne! My mind has been whirling too. No surprise there, but I'm actually looking at all we have to do and the time left in summer to do it. I'm glad Steve took a day to do something fun and relaxing with the boys. They all enjoyed the planes and now have a better idea of what it took to fight that war. Steve needs to have some down time between projects and getting the kids moved out to the ranch and set up was huge push. Now, it's just lots of puttering out there, but every little bit helps. Did DD1 run in that heat? Yuck!

Sarah heard another rattler near the pool while mowing the other day, but didn't see it. Adam investigated and thinks he knows where the burrow is, so we'll be extra cautious in that area as we clean. There is a lot of tall grass and derelict odds & ends in that area to clear away. The weed eater will drive snakes away with the sound and vibration, and clearing the area will expose hiding places. We need to get some Guinea hens to patrol the area, as they eat ticks and keep the area stirred up to discourage snakes; however, Adam hates the noisy birds. He might not care if they are doing a job, though. Ducks and geese are good too, but they leave such a nasty "slick" in the yard that it's not worth it.

Cathy, I don't blame you for not wanting to sit through long, boring ceremonies in a hot, stuffy gym. I know you've enjoyed Diego and hope he does well when he moves on. Good idea to take bags to start bringing your stuff home from school. Did you get it all?

We went down to the shop this morning to check out a bathroom vanity that we've been storing down there. Mom sent it over a long time ago, thinking that Jenny might want to use it in her bathroom remodel, but it didn't fit. Now that Adam and Sarah are remodeling the barn house, it might find a home because it's a lot nicer than the one they pulled out. It will need a top and sink, but the cabinet is in good condition. We also found some other things that belong to Jenny and will let her know that she needs to come and get them--or we'll deliver them to her new house. Mary and her dh have moved out of the apartment, but still have a few more things to pick up. I didn't see them often but I miss them and wish they hadn't moved out so soon.

Time to get our food together for the day and head out to the ranch. We're already 3 hrs later than I wanted to be.

Morning! Sounds like everyone is busy!! DD1 called yesterday--it was 102 degrees by her--and she had run 4 miles. DD2 texted--one of the guys is taking a different job so DD2 is going to look for a new place to live--I hope we'll be around to help her move. Not sure.... And DD3 has booked her tickets to Vancouver. also found out my middle brother (57 years old) is having thyroid issues and may be developing Parkinson's. Prayers for Gregg would be welcome!!

Terri--those raspberries will be great! Enjoy! I hope you get some this fall. Scary about the rattler--do be careful. Glad Steve took a day to relax--we have seen some of those WWII planes.

Cathy--glad you are about done--hope you remembered the bag to carry stuff home. Too bad about the food at Red Hats. I can tell you didn't pick the restaurant!

Betsy--I hope the OT goes well--at his age, he should be doing much more. I'll bet he is frustrated.

Anne--let me know dates! I can try to meet you somewhere, too! But I do leave 7/10. I hope the numbers work for you.

Lindie--hope all is well!

Not sure what I am going to do today--sort of taking today as a rest day cause I feel "off". I didn't sleep well--worrying about my brother and DD2. Nothing I can do about it--but still feeling anxious. Need to claim my verse--“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.” Philippians 4:6-8. Amen?

Dianne, never a guarantee about same set up but since I work well with Amy, I doubt they will move me plus I am really good with those kids---but next year might be a totally different set-up on who we have and not sure how much I will enjoy even lower kids, but as long as self -contained I will be alright. We are pretty sure it will just be one assistant and one teacher though for next year unless we should get another wheelchair student. Did you enjoy your weather yesterday?
Betsy, hope the older kids are a help this week.
Anne, glad you weren't in charge but sounds like you did as much as if you were---LOL Hope that is enough dirt. Why did he want that much? Hope no issues with that gas statement. HOpe you figure out the insurance stuff quickly, too. So confusing!
Terri, wow, that is one long row of raspberries. Guessing they will fill in to the fence when they get bigger. Hope the dogs keep the deer away and that no one finds a rattler the hard way. Is it possible to keep some anti-venon handy on the property? That's too scary! But interesting that the kids wanted to investigate the dead animal. Hope Steve and the kids enjoyed the air show. Woohoo to finishing your flannel shirt. Diego moves on this year----I will miss his wit, he is a funny and interesting kid, but I won't miss all the extra work he can be. Even when the kids are doing independent work, I still have to work with him---first to read the stuff to him, then to cut out anything that needs to be glued on, and if math, to touch each item while he counts them.
I organized books, got rid of some of them, put the new books for learning up on the shelves, starting taking down some other stuff. Amy had figured out a way for me to go to the awards thing today---but I told her I don't want to go---those things are sooooo boring and no ac in the gym plus i really don't know many of the 8th graders except for our 5 and a couple more from the other self-contained classes---listening to over 150 names being called is not my idea of fun---now, if our kids were called and then came back, I could deal with it but not that many! She was kind of surprised but I love our girl but really, I am thankful that a couple of ours are leaving!
Nice time with Red Hats but lousy dinner--went to Longhorn---got chicken tenders as nothing really appealed to me---let's just say that McDonald's chicken nuggets have more taste and I don't even like them. The broccoli was barely cooked and the baked potato was just barely done, it could have used another minute or 2 in the microwave. I came in with 2 other ladies, most were there already, and the waiter didn't even ask what I wanted to drink. When he brought the other 2 their waters, I reminded him that I wasn't asked and he acted annoyed---so I told him my order and told him to cut the attitude---it really was that bad! Then he brought my soda with a lime in it---how nasty---I made him remove it and I should have sent it back! He did not get a very good tip from me and I usually tip extra when there is such a big group as I know we can be a lot of work. He seemed to have trouble getting our orders correct when we gave them, too. I really don't like going there!
Kids leave around noon----well, most of ours do---but I have to stay until 2:45---need to remember to take my bag to start bringing home some of my stuff today. Weather is lovely again today.
