Dianne, of course you would go for the highest reward. Does that mean you don't have to pay extra for those courses or just qualify? We will have to pay for a whole year at once at the new pool which I am not excited about having to do since we really haven't tried it out. I do need to order belts for us to use there---guess I will do that today. Glad you enjoyed your lunch out---good deal. I know there have been a few times that our trash can has blown over but usually when it is empty. If too windy Dh waits until later to take it out but usually we have enough in it to hold it down. Is your recycling bin an open bin? Ours are around here to we just take it off ourselves as we recycle more than they take at the curb and it gives Dh something to do.
Terri, good to pay the bills when you have the money. I am hoping that my SS comes a different week than Dh's does when I start getting it---LOL Did you all decide where to put the greenhouse? Hopefully near a water source so you don't have to carry water too far. How about the trees?
I did get to Boscov's yesterday---got some new shoes---LOL---but for the Spring. Found a new thing for my purse to hold money so I am set for my trip on Tuesday. I wandered around for a bit and picked up a few things---Dh should learn to not let me go on my own----heehee.
Have a pleasant Sunday!

I hope everyone is having a good weekend so far. I'm paying bills, which isn't fun except that there's money available to pay them! That's fun. It hasn't always been that way in earlier years.

Steve has been out running errands and is now back and we're going out to the ranch to drop some things off and figure out where to set up my greenhouse--Yay! We may also plant some trees once I decide where I want them.

We went to the coast yesterday for an appointment with a dermatologist to freeze off the spot on my face that showed some pre-cancer cells. Nothing to worry about, but nothing to ignore either. He also froze a mole on my back that my bra rubs on. While I was there, Steve dropped off the recyclables and got rid of some metal, glass and plastic AND got paid for the CRV aluminum cans and plastic bottles. Once we were done and saw that it was lunch time, we called Jenny to see if, by chance, she might have time in her day to go to lunch with us. She did and we were able to get in a pretty nice visit with her, which is rare these days with her schedule and ours.

Steve is making us some lunch while I finish up here, so I guess I should close this and try to finish later. I'll catch up with the rest of your posts from my phone on our way out to the ranch~

Morning! We had a nice lunch at Ruby Tuesday's--they had their cheeseburger for $5--so that is what we had. And yes, we had a salad for supper!

Happy Leap Day! I got to the gym for my step aerobics class. And I have made the "gold" level for points at the gym--meaning LOTS of classes and weights. I am a nerd--I will measure something if given the chance so I report all my exercise!

Not sure what we are doing today--maybe Costco since we got our rebate check. And DD2 asked if I would buy something there for her.

Betsy--our cans are BIG and heavy but the wind was really strong. I am proud of hubby for picking up--but like he said, some of the paper had our name on it so he didn't want to get blamed! I woke up before the alarm--I am finally waking at about 7 again but can easily go back to sleep. We change time on March 8--wish they would just stop that completely.

Cathy--does your doctor note mean insurance will cover some of the cost? I am really tempted to stop the Y--it is really $$ and most of the classes are in a rut--I know the water classes are except for 1 teacher. I will likely take the summer off again--maybe I will run, we'll have to see.

Anne, Terri, Lindie--you all doing ok? I know it got colder here--at least the wind has died down!

Dianne, did you get out to lunch? I like lunch out more than dinner out so if I am full, I don't have to eat dinner later plus often cheaper and less busy. Good going on the exercise. I am starting back at it plus we got doctor notes so we can go join another pool---Would love to do that this week but too many visitors coming to the house to give us pricing for siding. We do miss going but the way my knee has been it has been better not to go for a bit.
Betsy, I have a cousin named Matthew after my grandfather and I named my oldest that for ths same reason----so my grandmother had 2 Matthews---so she could still choose to go that route. If your SIL's EKG didn't show a heart attack then she's okay but needs to find out why---it could be a precursor to one so glad she is getting those tests done. I don't remember your house being a mess at all in any spot----LOL But then I wasn't there to inspect your house but to meet you---LOL My friend Joy's house is often a mess in some place or the other---she knows I don't care, she is more important---but I would love to help her organize her kitchen cabinets a lot better----LOL And her fridge is like my mom's ---lots of stuff in there but nothing much to eat when I am there. You must have been tired to sleep that long. Hope you get to do that this morning, too. I slept until almost 7, too, since I didn't go to be until after 10---very late for me.
Nice time out at church last night. Found out yesterday that we are getting another student---a real problem student that is on his way to Choices---our alternative program---he is very short but a garbage mouth on him---I can't stand him---he has run his mouth on others and gotten hit quite few times and we really can't blame the others because he just won't shut his mouth---he's the one that threw a temper tantrum down at the bus ramp because he forgot his coloring papers upstairs---remember, this is a middle school student. I am afraid he will hurt one of my kids because he will be able to bully them. The teacher thinks she can handle him---I don't believe her---but nothing I can do---but I am not going to do anything with him and hope it is just for 4 days and not 3 weeks. I might have to take some time off if it goes too long---and in that 3 weeks she won't be there one day and I will tell the principal he needs to be elsewhere if he is still there. I am glad I have off next Tuesday already!
Anyone have any plans for this extra day this year? I do need to go to Boscov's to look for something and to the bank---not sure if Dh will go or not----he shouldn't let me go to Boscov's on my own----heehee!
Have a good Saturday!

Dianne, the music was very upbeat so not relaxing but fun. Cindy's husband is the one who recently died so I felt badly for her whenever they would sing love songs. The worst was their encore song, "The Parting Glass," as it was a very special song to Tim and we all sang it to end his Memorial Service. The rest of the music was pop music such as Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Journey. It really was like watching an episode of Glee. It was nice to be out of the house.
Regarding my dear sis-in-law, she should have gone in immediately but she didn't. She has been to multiple appointments now and everything from her thyroid to an EKG has checked out just fine. She'll have more appointments next week and that will be it. She works for a church and puts in far more hours than she is paid for so this is the red flag needed to get her to slow down. I agree that cousins with the same name would be just fine, especially since they are in different states and would be several years apart.

I slept in too, only I didn't intend to, I didn't get up until 7:05 emoticon ! Somehow I managed to be ready for work in time for arrival number one. Did you get out for lunch?
Our trash can lid used to blow away all the time but we now have village issued trash and recycling cans with hinged lids. They are huge so it would take a major storm for them to blow anywhere. Many people would have just let the recycling paper blow away, good for your DH for picking up what he could.

Cathy, you are right, our family is quite large. DH will take a break before subbing and then my guess is he will feel badly for them since there is such a shortage and give it a whirl. I saw a picture of Reid Harvey within an hour after his birth but I wanted to see Nellie and Reid together. I mentioned that to their father today and he fulfilled my wishes with his phone. Nellie is beaming as she holds her baby brother. It's funny that your house walking bothers DH, in my case it is DD2. She thinks it is odd, comments and just goes to another level of the house. emoticon They really should give you your regular pay plus sub pay if the teacher is out. What kind of siding are you looking at? I had to laugh when I read you needed to clear off your dining table because I remember mine was covered with stuff when you were here.

Lindie, Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus, communication-wise among other things. Isn't Gene supposed to be resting? What kind of meeting did he go to? If it was something like AA, that would be OK but a work meeting definitely would not. Isn't it sad how a new style looks so good the day it is done and no matter how hard you try, once you are home, you just can't get the right look again? That's one reason I like my hair longer.

Anne and Terri, emoticon

Morning. I slept so much better last night--and then slept in! I did 1/2 an exercise video--I am sweating and puffing so that is enough! LOL I got my 20 minutes--my minimum. I think I have hubby talked into going out for lunch--we'll see. Yesterday after I left for the gym, hubby noticed that the recycling can and blown over and we have papers from our yard down 3 neighbors! Took him 40 minutes to get it picked up--and he knows he didn't get it ALL. Wasn't blowing around when I left or I would have missed my class to help him. The cans are now in the garage--it was really windy.

Betsy--I would have thought she should have gone immediately. After the fact, there isn't a big rush. I hope they get it figured out. I am glad you got out for music--I hope it was relaxing! We have 2 young men in our family with exactly the same name--and I think born on the same day--one in WI and one in WY. Your DD1's someday Lily Grace would be just fine, even with a cousin!

Cathy--do you aim for a certain number of steps? I try for 7K a day--may go back to 10K when it gets warmer but 7 is hard enough in the winter. Glad you are feeling better when walking. I hope the principal will listen to you and just let you be if your teacher is called out.

Lindie--glad you had some alone time. I am out enough that hubby gets his quiet time at home without me, too. I brought in some forsythia--a pretty yellow blooming bush--it is opening out on the counter. Looks so pretty--and it grows all over out here--along the highways, etc. Anything blooming yet by you?

Anne--hope all is well. How are the moms in Georgia doing?

Terri--I hope the deer leave your new trees alone. They have pretty much killed a pine I had planted out front--I need to dig it out. Now sure if the Japanese maple I moved 2 years ago is going to make it--they like to eat the tips of that one, too. We scared off 6 the other night.

So--I am going to get my shower and decide if we are going out for lunch or just what. Bye for now!

Betsy, didn't she go to the hospital immediately? If is was a heart attack, she might be put immediately in the hospital after the visit today if she hasn't been seen already. I know you care for her, I was just making sure which one it is. I know there are quite a few family members in your life. I would have just enjoyed the music as I love that kind of singing. Tell your Dh that with subbing, if you have a bad day you don't go back to that class or cover for that teacher again-----LOL I know here they pay retired teachers a very nice stipend to sub. And if the weather is bad, he can stay home---LOL But he might want a break before he starts deciding that. kind of thing. Hope you see the picture soon of the new baby.
Dianne, yes, you do not want that stomach virus since you are just starting to feel normal after being so sick. We have the wind chills here, too, but no precip in the forecast at the moment.
Terri, hope you got all the trees planted and blocked off from deer coming to nibble on them.
Lindie, glad you got some time alone at your place. Dh went to a meeting last night so I got some alone time, too. I needed some steps in so housewalked while he was gone. so much easier when he is not home and I can vary up my routine on that. Even the knee and ankle are doing better although the knee is still needing some babying. But I didn't wear a brace at all yesterday and had no problem getting around.
I am not sure what is going on but I think they are pulling my teacher to do some IEPs for students whose teacher is on leave---I don't think she will be happy about that but then I am not really sure what they have planned. The principal forgot she wasn't here yesterday and came to see her and he mentioned something about it. I will let you know more when i find out more---he did mention having a sub in our room---something I would not be happy about if it is the wrong person for our kids. They might as well just leave us alone and I will just do the class.
We have church dinner and meetings tonight. I will need to bake when I get home but it is definitely cool enough that it will be welcome to have the oven on. Dh has lined up 3 visits next week to talk to companies about the siding on the house---about the time I get home---so guess I need to get the dining room table cleared off this weekend so we can sit around that to look at things---LOL
TGIF!

Good evening Friends, laundry is done, pedi is done, Gene has gone to a meeting - not surprised that he went - and now I can relax.

Betsy I so understand about communication, everyone interrprets different - for example, at the hospital, Gene was asked " what brings (brought) you here"? He replied, my leg - his sister said, no Gene, you came by ambulance. You see everyone's thought process is different and in the end it was "how the question was asked ... both were right, it was because of his leg that an ambulance was called and brought him to the hospital ...

Terri, prayers for you , your family, your son, his health care team - how sad, and to think, some up here want American style health care ( meaning private practises, which run but are not suppose to ) ... Doesn't WCB have their own set of doctors? They do up here and lawyers too who are cut throat so to speak ... How did the fruit tree planting go ?

Dianne, I agree with Betsy, you need to step back and let others take over after all, one day you will be elsewhere, do they think you will just come back to do all that ? Time to train others to take over.

Cathy, I like my hair cut and I hope you like yours! Course this morning it was all bed hair and no curl left LOL I hope your hip remains good for the flower show and I hope you enjoy it this year and take lots of pictures too !

Anne, hope all is well in your neck of the woods -what's new with you ?

Heading out now to put the laundry away and to watch a movie on JW.org - its about King Josia and how he cleared out the high places of false worship in his day. Have a good one all !

(continued from this morning)
Cathy, DH stayed home and rested as he should have. Cindy only had one ticket and I did offer it to him but he opted to rest and that was best. Panera soup sounds delicious right about now. We had a whole chicken that had to be cooked today so we'll be eating around 8 PM, sigh, I try really hard not to do that but sometimes with our schedules it just can't be helped. The Choir of Man is a group of nine men that get together to sing songs in an Irish Pub and that's the plot. Dianne, Mamma Mia has that beat by a mile! The harmonies were fantastic, they were phenomenal on their instruments and one was a champion tap dancer. We probably would have liked it more as a matinee on the weekend when we weren't so tired after working all day. I'm glad I went, it just wasn't what either of us expected.

Let me pause now to say men can't be trusted to relay information, even if they are teachers! DH told me last night that his sister was having a procedure today but when he came home he said that she told him she thought she could get in today. What? For a procedure? You can't just do that on a call in basis, good grief!

Lindie, I know what you mean about hand washing, mine are raw too. Cooking plus four in diapers will do that. Burt's Bees is a pretty reliable brand but I have never tried their hand cream. There isn't a good way to teach first grade part time so that is not an option for DH. Park work is definitely seasonal and DH loves it but several weeks in the summer is enough. Congratulations on baby Reid! Isn't it funny how names go in waves? Grace is a super popular girl name right now as is Lily. DD1 always wanted to use Lily Grace but her male cousin and his wife got it first. They are in Illinois so she could still do it if she ever adopts a girl but time will tell.

Dianne, I am glad you enjoyed the baby photo I sent you. Nellie is adorable too and I am anxiously awaiting the first photo of the two of them, likely on a birth announcement.
I wish my Dh wanted to be cremated to protect our earth but he won't budge on that. Hopefully, your friend's cruise will still sail in the wake of the Coronavirus mess. Your dad isn't an excuse, you have paid your dues tenfold in volunteer hours! Also, what will they do when you move? It is time for someone else to step up. My purging is also going slowly but at least it is started. I have two full boxes ready to go out this weekend. DH claims he won't sub after retirement but Cindy also said that and she loves it. You get the fun of the students without the planning, meetings, etc. He'll definitely work somewhere or he'll go crazy..and drive me crazy in the process! I am sorry to hear about your first office mate's passing.

Anne, emoticon

Terri, prayers for Paul and his medical team were sent up at church last night and daily here at home. You are also included in those prayers as it is so tough to see your child go through something so difficult. That's ridiculous that it has already been enough time for him to have conceived and delivered a child! Our insurance system is so broken.

DH's other sister just called and we have learned there was no angiogram today. Tracy will see a nurse practitioner tomorrow and a cardiologist next Thursday. What? They think she had a heart attack on Sunday and they are waiting? I sense a breakdown in communication!
DH said Tracy told him she was kneeling at church on Sunday and experienced severe chest pain that ran to her shoulder. If that's correct, that's all I know. Oh, yes, Cathy, she is the one that sometimes gives us grief but she can also be very generous. She never married or had children so she is quite set in her ways. She may give us grief but we still love her and wish her no harm.

Our chicken smells really good, I will report on whether it tastes the same.

Have a great night or day, depending on when you see this.

I didn't sleep well last night--I remember having a very scary dream and woke to hubby touching my head from behind--trouble was, the bad guy was grabbing me from behind so he made it worse till I woke up! I did get to the pool this AM. The home was "closed" yesterday due to a stomach virus. I didn't even check today--I won't want it! I did drop stuff off to Bob.

Lindie--I like the hair! Good to go short!

Cathy--I am trying to get someone else to start doing the shopping but it is a hard sell. I have been involved for about 20 years now! Time for someone else to step up--even when I did get someone else to do it, I was back up. At least they did find someone else to lead the Easter play so I don't have to! I may not even go to all the sessions. Glad your injections helped. We may get some snow but likely just rain.

Betsy--sorry there wasn't much plot. That was my complaint about Momma Mia--silly story line. I am just glad you got out! I heard about Wausau on NPR today--now they are trying to deport the Hmong! We won't have anyone willing to ally with us--we abandon them all. Very sad.

Anne--hope you are well.

Terri--glad this has gotten started--my DD2 had workman's comp in CA and hers moved very quickly--thank goodness. I am thankful that he isn't going to have to pay for all of it out of pocket. Sorry it has taken so long.

Choir tonight. Very windy outside and getting colder as the wind keeps blowing.

Love the haircut, Lindie! Cathy, I'm sure Howard will get used to it. I hate fussing with my hair and am glad Steve doesn't mind seeing it pulled up in a bun or ponytail all the time. I would have it as short as Lindie's if I didn't have it long enough to pull out of my face.

Well, son may not get his surgery on the 9th after all. It has to go through several bureaucratic steps first--the doctor has to submit his "findings" and recommendation for immediate surgery, then it has go to Workman's Comp for approval, then it can go back to the doctor to be scheduled. Welcome to govt. controlled health care, folks. His injury occurred last JUNE and it has taken this long to get this far. But he is thankful that he is still able to do his job. He had just taken a promotion after he was hurt, so is in a supervisory position now and not required to do the things that would exacerbate his injury.

Steve wants to go out to the ranch today and get our fruit trees in the ground, so that's the plan. I'm tired--slept 9 hours last night--but will feel better once outside and moving. He's chomping at the bit, so I need to get ready to go. I'll try to check back this evening if not too tired.

Either DH is getting louder in the morning or I am becoming a much lighter sleeper, or possibly both. I have had time to take notes so I will get as far as I can and possibly have to finish up tonight.

Cathy, DH has a good contract but the government took away most of the "perks " of teaching about ten years ago with the installation of Act 10, teachers left in droves. One of them was my own Dela's father. He is now in wealth management and doing very well. At this point, I believe Dh gets 1/2 credit for his unused sick days but I believe the funds have to be rolled over into his HSA. It changes all the time so I am not going to worry about it until the time actually comes that I must. Mia has arrived, I will finish tonight. Have a great day.

Dianne are you getting the snow they were predicting for Philadlephia? I had to laugh when I heard them mention bad weather for up there---afterall, the Flower Show starts this weekend---it always snows at some point for that show. The day I am scheduled to go up there it will be 65 here at home---but told Dh I still had to dress warm as it is cold in the show for the flowers----so I am always prepared in layers for that. Maybe you should tell them you might not be home for that shopping and that someone else has to do it---better for them to be prepared than having to rush around to find someone else. Have you heard any date yet for his procedure? Hope Bob was alright from that fall.
Terri, glad you made it there safely and got out of there quickly to avoid the bad traffic on the way home. Glad the appointment is that close and hope it is very successful for him.
Lindie, Howard doesn't like my new hair cut because it is a bit shorter than I usually go, but I kind of don't want to have to go back until the end of summer unless I decide I want it a bit shorter at the end of May. Hope you find a new place for the pedicure.
Betsy, glad you enjoyed the show for the most part. Was it mostly singing? Is the SIL the one who gives you grief at times? Glad you were able to pop on.
Went and got my shots yesterday. I definitely can get up and down better. Always a bit sore the first day or 2 when I sleep but nothing like when they are aching, just pain at the injection sites. I didn't do much when I got home---which is what I am supposed to do---I did start watching the series Virgin River on Netflick.
Did you see that the "Baby" from Mandolorian is already sold out and it was just released. I am bummed---I wanted to get one for Reagann----Dh said I really wanted it for myself---LOL--and he is probably right!
Teacher is taking the day out for shots today---I swear, when I do something she has to do the same thing---and without pay for her. I am kind of surprised she lasted this long before taking a day off. So I will be teaching today. At least the day should go faster for me.
Have a good Thursday.

Lindie, your hair looks great. I am not caught up at all but hope to at least have notes taken by tomorrow night.

I did get to see The Choir of Man. The nine men from Ireland and England were incredibly talented but Cindy and I wished there would have been more of a plot to what they did.

The only news I have from today is that my sis-in-law is going in for an angiogram tomorrow after an unpleasant episode of chest and shoulder pain at church last Sunday.

Prayers for all!

Terri, thanks for posting and providing an update for you and your son - it is good you have a date, and you can plan around that so can your son. Hope the journey home through the farm land area was uneventful and you made it safely home. Prayers for you, your son, your family, and the surgeon and a good recovery !

Well I got out, got my hair cut but forgot to get a pedicure, will do that tomorrow, but not sure where I will go for that. The place I used to go has gone downhill with their service and the new place I tried, well, I was not impressed when she nipped me .. took a while for that to heal.

I'll post a picture of my hair, its short as I like it but some length on top to add a curl if I so wish, she did try curling it, but she did not go with the grain,b ut against it - she tried though .. it was quite poofy till I popped my hat on and took it off when I got home LOL

Time for my bible reading, its' 7 pm now - have a good morning everyone !

We made it to UCSF on time in spite of some horrid traffic and the consultation went well. He's scheduled for surgery on the 9th. Now on our way home. We made it out of the city by 1:00 and will beat the rush hour traffic to Interstate 5. From there it's smooth sailing through a lot of farmland -- not much traffic.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers.

Morning! I slept in today--will do grocery shopping and then hope to visit Bob--got a text from his daughter that he fell in the shower last night and may have cut his head. I am guessing he is at the hospital--hope she will let me know. I was doing cooking for our house--I like to have a few things in the fridge--my hubby WILL eat leftovers and crock pot foods, thank goodness!

Just got another text--he did fall but hit his HAND and has a bandaid on it. Communication with the home is not very good....

Terri--prayers for you and your DS--for traffic and for a good visit with the doctor.

Lindie--I do wish he would consider physical therapy--did something happen in the past that makes him say no? He is too young to not be able to walk!

Betsy--I hope you saw the show. I just sat and read yesterday evening. I hope you got out. Seeing all the news about the virus, I think we should enjoy the "getting out" because we may lose that in the near future. Scary times...

Anne--hope all is going well. DD3 is getting snow--I hope you don't get too much.

Heading for the grocery store soon. Hubby is out for a run and should be home very soon since he has a 10:30 AM meeting! We have church and dinner tonight but I was not asked to do this time. Our next guests come on Palm Sunday--I hope to be around but also hope to be gone! LOL DD2 will be home for Palm Sunday.

Wow, lots of posts---let's see how I do.
Dianne, glad you got out for a walk. You do sound more cheerful than you were. Why all the cooking? For the church dinner tonight? We had off and on again rain yesterday but not too bad when I got off work---at first it was raining pretty good but I still wen to do a couple of things before the meeting instead of going home. Glad there are 2 others to do that task. Will you by chance also be gone when the next group comes to stay at the church?
Betsy, glad you had an easy Monday. Yes, your dh should have stayed home. Does he get paid for any unused sick leave when he retires---betting not as bad as his contract is. We don't have to go to these meetings but it is advised. Also advised to go in to the county person before you retire to set everything up. I won't make that much from my retirement and pension but hoping enough to cover the health care costs. Hope your Dh feels well enough that you can go to that show.
Lindie, you are right, can't do much with them at that age---LOL Hope you enjoy your new hair cut and pedicure. Be good for you to get out of the house and away from Gene. Is Gene doing any walking to see if his leg will hold up for work?
Terri, I sure hope they can get your son in quickly to relieve that pressure. Hope the trip time is at a time when you all can avoid the worst of the traffic around the city---although it will be more than your normal traffic. Glad no termites but would think the boring beetles would be almost as big an issue. Did you get more of that fencing done on Monday? Or just clear some trees and bushes?
I went and got my haircut before the meeting---a bit shorter than I usually go but want it to last for a while. And I want it to dry quicker too. LOL Then I went to have soup at Panera for my dinner. With the damp weather, that is what I wanted.
I only stayed for the talk about Social Security. That was interesting and informative. I did get an answer about when to switch Dh over to Part B Medicare which I definitely needed. Also some advice about starting SS the year I will turn my full age before I turn it---but that one I will check with an agent dealing with my info since my amount won't be a great amount but don't want it too low. Did you know they are no longer sending out info every year about your SS? Only if you are over 60 do you get it each year now. I just got mine last week and was glad to see an increase from my last form. But if you want one, all you have to do is go online or call and they will send you one.
I was glad I came home early as I was tired and fell asleep shortly after 8 and slept until my alarm. I am taking half a day off today to go get shots in my hips again. I am not as bad as I usually am but it is interfering with my sleep and I go to the Flower Show next week so I want to be able to move better for that.
Have a good Wednesday.

Terri, I hope all goes well with the doctor that you and your son need to see, it sure can be scarey, especially when it hits so close to home. Gene will have his spine MRI when they call - they are booked pretty solid but hopefully in the next 2 weeks that he is off. He won't consider physio ... I wish he would ... He can't even do the 15 minute walk to safeway - has to take a bus. the Diatomaceous Earth food grade will take care of any bug that crunches when stepped on, I would think beetles too, they just have to crawl into some and then preen themselves, the end. Safe for humans, and cats, dogs, actually helps with worms with those one - I would say when you have time research it but I know time is something you do not have a lot of. Most of my critters are gone ... this is 100% natural source of silica ... something to consider - it sure helped with those wingless wasps ...

Dianne, I love when someone with a good strong voice sits behind me at the meetings, while we do not have a "chior", we sing as a congregation and that's 80+ voices - I think I am the one out of tune, my voice or sing box is not strong anymore ... Did you go see Bob today ? I know what you mean about getting out after being in - I felt that way too but what I did notice, was how tired I was even after the fever, chills, cough was gone, that took longer to build up strength. No can't imagine Gene and I both retired, 2 days a week is enough !!! LOL

HOpe everyone has a wonderful Wednesday - oh another Reid was born today, my neice posted a picture of a baby, his first name is Reid, must be a popular name these days. Tomorrow hair cut, pedi !!!!!!!!

My "guest" was the man who was to do a pest inspection on the house, so I had to be available to him. We are going to have to have a few things done because bugs like logs. No termites, but some boring beetles that are disconcerting. More on that later.

DS1 is here and we are leaving soon to go to Mom's for the night. From there, we will head to SF to see the surgeon who will do the surgery on his neck to relieve the nerve compression that's causing his hands to be numb. This is a very serious issue and we can't be sure of the outcome. He's only 45 and is a very active guy who is too young to be disabled--like Lindie's Gene.

I don't know when I'll be able to be back here, but will try to keep up on my cellphone.

Hello! I am taking a break--I have turkey soup going and some beef for a taco dish. And still have to figure out what I am doing with chicken for tonight. Talked to the girls' adopted grandma--her hubby passed in December. She is doing pretty good--going on a cruise in March with a daughter to put ashes in the Caribbean--that is what her hubby wanted.

My ears are feeling better--I didn't get up early enough to go to the gym but I did get out and walked for quite awhile--that felt good. It is cloudy here and has rained a bit. Tomorrow we have church with dinner at 6. I am NOT doing the children's program--they are asking 2 other people. I would be willing to go once or twice to help with the play's blocking but I can't handle the kids without getting really grumpy. Yes, I am using my dad as an excuse....

Terri--I am trying to do the purging--just isn't going too fast. I have a pile of games to get rid of and more to look at in the basement. At least I have one bunch gathered up! SLOW steps but at least forward progress! I may list some on-line to see--especially with Easter coming up.

Cathy--yes, some things have to be bought as soon as you are the "right age". You don't want to "forget" cause it can impact all future benefits. Good luck with the meetings.

Betsy--would your DH want to be a sub after retirement? I would almost guess no since he never uses one himself. I hope you get to go tonight to see the show--you deserve a break!

Lindie--Gene would drive you crazy if he retired. I am not sure what I'd do with DH even now--and his retirement is approaching. Hope you have a good day tomorrow for all your errands.

Anne--I saw you may get significant snow--DD3 may also get his with the storm before it hits New England. I hope not--for both of you!

Saw the obituary today for my very first office mate at work--he was 93 when he died--would put him in his 50s when we shared an office. He was such a nice man--and his wife is still alive so I wrote on the funeral home's page--I expect he has outlived many of his friends from work. He moved to a retirement place and that is how I "lost" him.

Good morning everyone ! It's a clowdy day here today and not nice looking at all so I will be staying in for now. Tomorrow will be a busy errand day anyway, hair cut ( its now too long ), pedicure ( the toe nails are too long and digging in ) and grocery shopping maybe although we do not need much. I will be looking for some hand cream, Aesop's Ressurrection Hand Balm, or Bert's Bee's Shea Butter Hand Repair - both had a good review although the Aesop is twice the price and the company is located in Austrailia. My hands are so dry and rough as I wash them so much right now.

Gene is feeling better now that he has been home for some time, went out this morning to the bank and get a muffin and coffee from Rotton Ronnies - that is his usual routine so he is not quite the grumbly bear he was. I am just giving him space to deal with things, its his health journey not mine. At 48 there is not much more I can do with someone who is set in their ways and does not want to change ...

Terri, did you get a lot done at the ranch? Hope you have a good time with your visitor !

Betsy when I could not tollerate work anymore, I enrolled in a 2 year retirement program, working part time with full time benefits - it worked, and I was so happy to leave, I wonder if there is anything like that - or perhaps a note from the doctor stating part time work only? I can't see your DH doing teaching part time, however, that would be better then just quitting out right - park work is seasonal, is it not ?

I am doing timed work outs on the Iwatch, it runs a timer and I just move, I can pause it to stop and then restart it at the place I left off and it keeps track of calories burnt and kilometers walked inside ! I am at 30:19 time to get stepping !!!

Lindie, I'm sorry Gene was being a pill and hope he can adjust his attitude regarding this whole thing. Sometimes a physical therapist can find things by working with you that are not obvious to the doctor. The doctors have run all the tests to rule out the big things, so it must be related to something else and a good physical therapist can often figure it out. Would he consider seeing a chiropractor? They can often correct issues, too. At any rate, I hope he's not a growly bear to his mother!

I guess it's no wonder you had the blues, Dianne. Being cooped up, feeling miserable, having lots to do that you don't really want to do and not being able to get out to do the things you enjoy.

Cathy, Steve still has health insurance in retirement but had to sign up for Medicare A and B. The insurance company requires it. I hope you got some good information at the meeting and again tonight. Nice that you saw some old friends there, too. We started going to retirement planning meetings about 5 years before Steve actually did it. They gave us the formula to figure out how much he would receive, based on his years of service, and also explained our choices for collecting. He opted to work a few more years to increase his retirement income and then chose the plan that gives him a slightly smaller check each month, but insures that I will continue receiving the same amount if he passes before I do.

Betsy, I can understand why he is talking about retiring. When the work climate changes and it becomes more of a chore to go to work than something you look forward to, it's time to start looking for the door. I understand about the health plan, though. As I mentioned before, Steve worked a few more years to make sure his income would be sufficient but he was ready to get out of there. New people joined the crew who didn't take the same pride in doing a good job as he and his former crew had. It was sad and took all the joy out of it.

Time for me to go. I have a guest.

Cathy, when do you plan to retire? How many meetings do you have to attend? We will have to do that next year.

Lindie, how old is Gene? Prayers continue for both of you as you adjust to each other while neither of you is working.

DD2 is feeling a little better but still isn't 100 % and DH should not be at work but that's where he is, sigh. he isn't one to complain of pain and says his throat pain is at a 7 on the 1-10 pain scale but only when he coughs. He was livid when he got home from conferences last night because they were required to be there until 7:30 but he was finished at 6. He informed the principal how he was feeling and she said nothing so he stayed. I had an easy day yesterday with just Nellie and Cooper so I had plenty of energy left to do lots of straightening in the house.
My friend Cindy had an extra ticket to see The Choir of Man in Wausau tonight so as long as DH is OK with me leaving, I am going, should be fun. I told DH I needed him home by 5 so I could have the car but I really don't need him until 6, that's one way to get him home to rest!
I will take notes and post again in the next few days. Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday so that means Mass and a late supper. Just to be safe, have a good week!

Anne, I have nights like that, too---and wonder where did all the fluid come from when I know I had been light on the fluid intake and one night I expected it and only got up once that night even though I had had a lot to drink later in the day. I don't like any stairs nowadays----LOL---but height stuff never bothered me, just too enclosed spaces like the MRI machine and elevators. I had to use the one at school yesterday and it is like a padded cell in there--I am not kidding on that either. Hope you got things done and that the tax appointment didn't take too long---do they check everything before you leave or do it when you are there?
Lindie, he's probably afraid it will hurt or be too expensive or an issue fitting it in with his work schedule. Is it possible for him to take early retirement there in Canada? He's not that old, right? Bet he is hard to live with right now.
Dianne, glad you are feeling a bit more upbeat. Hope they realize that you are serious in not doing that program at the church. Plus with your Dad's health right now, you could possibly not be there anyhow---of course we hope not but always better to be prepared and not have to feel you have to rush back for that thing when you might be needed there. LOL to your dh thinking you needed him to speak up for you. When I sang in the choir, everyone keyed off my voice, too---so I get what you say. Plus now I sing out in the congregation and often get thanks for doing that. I do miss singing in a choir.
Terri, is Steve just needing a break from working on the stair railing or going to the ranch as it is nice enough to get that fencing up so you can plant? You are right, if you do something and it is not with the right heart, then it is just not acceptable to God. We all have different callings but sometimes the calling does change. Hope you are not too sore from whatever you all got involved in at the ranch.
I did come home and put on a sweater over my top as it did not warm up as much as they said it would----and glad I did. I learned some things---for the most part----but the part from the Lincoln Financial person was just a bunch of bull---I don't like them but it's what the school system uses for our 403. If you meet with them they try to get you to put more money in---sure, it would be nice but i put in what I am comfortable with and don't like to be pushed.
Wasn't happy to learn that I can keep our insurance but still have to have Medicare Part B too. Plus we learned last night that our health insurance is going to take a big jump in cost next school year---so any increase we get in pay will probably be ate up or not even cover the additional amount we will have to pay. Have no idea what they will talk about tonight---seems to me that they covered stuff last night. Saw quite a few people I knew at the meeting.
Have a good day!

I'm trying to catch up with all that I've missed this weekend--you have all been busy! I've got two windows open, so will try to respond/comment as I read along...

Welcome baby Reid! Hoping all is well and that mom and babe are home and bonding by now.

Dianne, I hear you on the "want to sell/don't want to sell" issue. All I can say is --KEEP PURGING! Even if you do just one room at a time and go through and eliminate stuff--sending it wherever it needs to go. At least your DD1 has her own home now and can take anything you've been keeping of hers. The other two, not so much since they are still moving around a bit and living in small places. But their time is coming, too. Not knowing where or what size house you'll have makes it more difficult, but not really. If there is furniture you love, keep it until you are sure. Jenny's moving into her new home helped me to downsize a lot! My spare bedrooms look a little sparse now, but still have things in them that I'll have to get rid of or find storage for because they won't fit into the cabin I'll be living in. Your recipes sound wonderful! Is that U TV a feature on your cable plan?

Volunteering at church or anywhere else has to come from the heart. I think we are all wired differently and while we can certainly serve in ways that are not necessarily from our giftedness (like Dianne's gift for singing) we should do what's natural. If our service becomes grudging because our heart is no longer in it, it's likely a sign that we should be serving elsewhere. Sometimes we volunteer to do something just to fill a gap for a season or to "do our part" and then find that we really enjoy it. I did that with teaching Sunday School many years ago. I said I would do it for a quarter--just to give another teacher a break--and ended up keeping it for 8 years. I didn't want to give up my kids and we did some fun things and I think they learned a lot. I don't appreciate being made to feel guilty, either!

Lindie, I'm so glad Gene is doing better. Funny that he didn't respond to hearing that we're all praying for him. Maybe he thinks your "internet" friends aren't real. LOL

I'm being interrupted in my post, so will have to get back to it later. Steve has been to the dump and is now home and gathering tools for the ranch. I'm out of time here~

Morning! Yes, the other woman showed up and our choir did fine. My ears are still all plugged but guess my voice sounds okay--I was complimented that people singing the hymns do much better if I am there singing them, too--they can follow me. I do have a loud voice. (As many of you have heard!)

I managed to get to the gym! Did the pool class. The ladies locker room is STILL all messed up--a month and no progress.

Lindie--I am glad he is home but why won't he give physical therapy a chance? Sounds like he has an issue that it could help with! My dad is at PT today for his swollen ankle. I don't think that is the right way to treat it but they don't seem to have any other ideas so he is game to try something!

Cathy--good luck with your meetings. Stay warm.

Anne--I would have climbed up as long as there were railings. Sounds like the kind of prices they would get around here, too. Too many things are being priced out of reach for most of us--we are becoming more and more a society of "has" and "has not".

Terri--sounds like you got lots accomplished! I did get out for a walk--that helped my mood somewhat. Sun is shining today--and I will go to the home to sing. I also brought in some forsythia--it will bloom yellow and I will enjoy having it inside.

Betsy--too bad the ushers didn't come along and make those people hush. Tickets are expensive enough without having to put up with such folks. I hope conferences go fine for your DH--and DD2 feels better. Not good if the day care staff is sick!

I have a church meeting tonight--at 6. Not the best time for it in my opinion but I am not chair. I skipped the last one cause we were in CO. Tonight's discussion will mention that I am NOT co-chairing the pageant. Hubby offered to come help me get out of it--but I just say I am not doing it--never said I would. Part of me still wants to just curl up in the house and read--but I know I need to be active and not hibernate!

Hope everyone has a good Monday! I did have coffee so I am better than I would have been! LOL

Good morning, I thought I would pop on here before I get to busy with things. Gene had a bath as soon as he got home last night and then worked on sending work his medical note - also taking copies and creating a med file for himself. He is off for two weeks, otherwise he would have went straight back to work - and the doctor I spoke to was kind enough to give him 2 weeks off. Oddly enough the walk to the sky train was proof positive of his leg issue but yes, he is angry about it. He may have to consider early retirement, something he never would do but since he wont' consider physio, thinking they can'thelp, then his employer just might retire him if he can't do the job ... He has no voicemail so no message from St Paul's Hospital could be left - in the end it is up to him to persue this. He's not being a good patient - are any of us when we want to get on with things ? lol They will do an MRI on his spine next - so he's waiting for that call plus a call from a dietician to help him gain weight. Anyway, on we go.

Cathy, I hope you can glean lots of good advice from the retirement program, mine consisted of several things including a talk from a funeral person - something that needs to be planned, and about investments etc. I hope its not too cold for you ...

Terri, it looks like you got lots done, I hope your resting today, but doubt you are ... have you given yourself a target date to move to the ranch?

Anne, hope your day goes well and you got everything accomplished.

Time to go have breakfast, hello to Dianne, and Betsy too !!

Good morning!

Cathy, I would have gone up all the stairs if they had been enclosed, but construction stairs are unfinished. Cold and damp bother my joints so much more these days! Yesterday was great weather here, too, so very little annoyance from those arthritic joints, lol! Glad that woman had the stipulation in her will! It is very sad to see churches closed and then converted, especially into things like breweries. I do not think I could buy or rent an apartment or condo that is part of a church renovation. What the heck are they going to talk about for 3.5 hours x 2 nights??!!?? Hope it is warm...maybe wear layers!

Terri, it sounds like you accomplished a lot yesterday! Hope the shower and ibuprofen got rid of the soreness! When we took our pool decks down we did the same thing...tried taking the nails out, but then just cleaned them up after burning the wood.

Lindie, sure hope they can figure out Gene's issue! He will be more comfortable there, I'm sure. Hospitals are not places to get any rest! Just as you fall asleep they come poke at you, lol! I did a quick Zillow search and boy is your real estate expensive! I do not know how anyone can afford to buy anything these days!

Betsy, the building does have some water views on the front side. The back side looks over a parking lot and a town building. The water views are behind the public parking lot and some wharf restaurants. It does not appeal to me despite my love of the ocean! Hope the kids are all well and you have a good daycare day!

Dianne, are the blues better? I sure hope so! Hang in there!

I must have been up at least a half dozen times, if not more, to use the bathroom last night. I don't think I even drank that much to go that much, lol! Each time I got up I thought, well this will be the last time til morning. Nope, it wasn't, lol! Then morning came...way too soon! The hour and half that I've been up has passed very quick! It is now time to get ready for church, going to meet my friend for coffee, then to the tax man! I have to call the pizza place, too, to order Wednesday night's pizza. Also, Fr. J asked me to forward an email to all the participants to provide them with some additional information...however, he hasn't sent it to me yet! I will print out the information and have copies on their tables...it will be an explanation on how to rent the videos that they watch during Discovering Christ, should they want to see one again or one they may have missed. Well, it is almost 7 bells...so off and running!

Have a great Monday!

Anne, don't blame you about the stairs----and nowadays I just can't do stairs unless I absolutely have to. Those condos are ridiculous but people will buy they and then rent them out to other crazy people. I know if I could afford one, I wouldn't be too happy with those who rented them out if that was my home. Glad you got out for dinner and for brunch. I would have been like you, wouldn't need dinner after that. We went out for lunch on Saturday and I didn't eat anything that evening---and I only ate half my lunch sandwich. I don't think combining would work---too many issues with members---it sure is a good way to lose people---they talked about combining the 2 methodist churches where I grew up---it was crazy to have 2 of them in that small community----but Trinity people would never have gone to Bowen but some of Bowen would have gone there. But the problem was solved by a member who left a lot of money to Bowen---she tied it up so that if they closed the church the money remaining went back to her heirs---the reason the conference wanted to close it was because they wanted that money---LOL I am glad because I love the stained glass window at the front there and it has a lovely hall with a huge kitchen for events.
Betsy, guessing the babies you have will be old enough that you can take on another baby at that time. I know from here that you are only allowed so many under a certain age and you had mentioned that before. Sorry everyone was so sick. I don't think I would have been so polite to those other people at the play---I would have reminded them of Cell phone courtesy at a play or movie and wouldn't care if it made them mad---LOL Are you buying stock in Kleenex? heehee I know we have been thru a lot here this winter but more of an allergy thing with the weather fluctuating. And Richie is going thru a lot of tissues at school too. His parents brought in a package of 3 which we appreciated. At least he knows how to blow his nose and gets a lot out each time.
Dianne, hope your mood improved with the weather. It was a lovely day out yesterday here. You are so lucky that there is so many men in your choir but a shame there are not more women.
Lindie, glad he is home but really surprised that they let him go as a walking person with the issues going on. Something serious is going on with that leg and hope they figure out what. He sounds very angry but remember he is not really angry with you but with what is going on with him. I hope they did not release him back to work. Bummer that he missed that phone call but they will call him back---did he check his messages on the phone? they might have left it there. Good luck with him being home---I am sure he will be a bear---men always are when they aren't well.
Terri, hope you aren't too sore. Guessing the weather was very nice for you all to be able to get those things done plus burn the rotted boards. That sounds like quite a workout for your arms yesterday. Do they have enough poles in to make the fence so you can plant soon? I just got an email from seed place for a gray poppy---it looks very interesting and I am trying to decide if I want to try it or not. I do like to experiment with flowers.
Back to work today---and have that retirement meeting tonight for 3 and half hours and then again tomorrow---hope it is not cold in there and not too boring---or I won't go back tomorrow---LOL---and might get up and leave if it is too cold anyhow---my knee can't take cold. We can take food in for our dinner or eat before---trying to decide on that one, too.
Have a good Monday!

Wow, I didn't realize it had been so long since I've been here. We went out to work at the ranch yesterday to start putting in posts for my garden and orchard, then went back out today to do some more. Steve and Adam set the wooden posts in concrete and I set to demolishing an old set of stairs and wooden walkway that used to go to the pool. The boards were all rotten and dangerous, so had to come out. I used the small crowbar (called a cat's paw) and a hammer and removed about 10 lbs of nails before burning the old wood. I finally gave up on the nails and just burned most of it and will rake and pick up the nails after the fire cools. We salvaged several long pressure-treated 4x4s to use somewhere else. They will be good for something else for quite a while.

I am tired and sore. Ready for a shower, some ibuprofen and my bed! I'll try to catch up in the morning while I have my coffee if I can.

Good evening Friends, we, Gene and I are home from the hospital - they determined from the MRI that he did not have a stroke causing his leg fatigue and are exploring other options. They have scheduled him for another MRI to look at his spine - they will call - and tonight they did but he does not have voicemail and missed the call. He tried to call back but could not. Hard to trace it. We walked about 30 minutes to get the skytrain to meet Dee and he could not even go 10 minutes before his leg gave out so he was angry and was going to call a cab - I suggested he keep a diary of the leg when it gives out. He had to rest and even a sky train attendent came to see if he was ok, and we thanked him and asked if the elevator was working. So back to square one and when I mentioned physio he said some very nasty comments and I advised him to remember whom he was talking to - he said he would talk that way if he wanted and I suggested he go on by himself and I would take the bus home. All over a back pack he could have picked up tomorrow - anyway he is home, napping after a bath !

Anyway, he's home.

Betsy, glad you had a good evening, sorry DH and DD2 are not feeling well. Are you feeling better ? You are an excellent daycare provider, we need more like you! I hope DH's eye situation is resolved before the park season starts again. Does reading make it worse, computer screen? The Ergonomic Experts suggest that during long periods of screen time to look away and look about 30 feet in another direction for a few minutes to help the eyes refocus - part of the problem is when we are computer screening we forget to blink - we blink to refresh and hydrate the eyes ... When do you get Baby Reid ?

Anne, glad you had a good night and day today - I can understand being tired, working 2 part time jobs - it can be exhausting for sure - here condo's are not selling like they were, they can't afford the insurance, the insurance companies have skyrocketed for condos and some are no longer covered so they can' sell or buy or what have you - from what I have seen, the government might get involved. And condo fees here are rediculous, might as well buy a house on a mortgage of a couple of million then buy a condo for a million ... yes the real estate here is that costly even for a shack !!!

I still need to get some steps in but had to charge the Iwatch .. .now I can get moving lol

Anne, does the building under construction have a waterfront view? Even if it does, those are some steep prices. Should Terri send Steve to make those stairs more reliable? LOL
I am not a fan of heights either, unless I am safely enclosed in something safe. You had no reason to feel guilty about Your Chinese buffet, sometimes self care comes first. I can just imagine how comfy and relaxed you were when you got into your pajamas.
If Reid were born on his expected due date, he was to start here in May. Since he was induced a tad early, he may start at the end of April. No matter what, I am ready to love him like my own while his parents work.

DH is asleep beside me and that is good because he has conferences again tomorrow night. DD2 is a bit better but they are on a skeleton crew at her day care so they need her to come in tomorrow. She keeps asking me how sick she is and I keep telling her she is the only one who can answer that.

Have a great night and a magnificent Monday!

Hi all!
We did go out last evening, but not with Rich and his wife nor to see my choir director friend play. Instead since we were both tired (my brain more than my body & J still recuperating) that we decided to go for Chinese buffet. We got home about the time the choir director would have started playing. I felt bad at first about not going with the others, but when I was home and in my pj's I felt no guilt whatsoever, lol!

We had a nice brunch with my sister & her dh at The Tavern on the Wharf on Plymouth Harbor. Afterwards we walked across the street to the condo/hotel/restaurant/retail block that my sister's dh is working on. The street level will have about 8 stores and the hotel lobby/entrance. The 2nd level will have 16 hotel rooms with either 1 or 2 bedrooms and a galley kitchen in them. The 3rd level will have 8 condo units with 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms...starting at over $700,000! No idea what the condo fee will be. The 4th level will have a rooftop restaurant and a private function area for the condo owners. I could not get up to the 4th level...the open and under construction stairwell just got to me...fear of heights and seeing through the stairs to the levels above, below, and straight across just wigged me out! Plus some of the stairs did not feel very sturdy and squeaked! Creepy!

Betsy, thanks for the explanation of your DH's eye condition. I hope he is feeling better! Same for DD2! Yes, DD1 is smart to leave the "infirmary" to try and stay well! When will Reid come to your daycare?

Lindie, hope you found Gene in a better mood. If not, maybe he is putting on a face for others and doesn't have to with you. Or maybe your sister's visit wore him down yesterday and you got the brunt of it.

Dianne, did the other woman show up to sing? I hope the sun, the air, and some activity helped you out of your funk! It is difficult knowing that one day there will be a move, but not quite knowing when and the exact where! Knowing you have things to do but no timeline isn't very helpful for motivation. I hope you and your friend can make a plan to get together and "do" NYC!

Both J and I are still full from brunch at noon today, so I'm not sure what we will do about dinner. There's part of me that just wants just a small dish of ice cream. Since I need to go to the ATM (we forgot to stop on the way home from Plymouth), I may suggest that to J, lol!

Wishing all a good night!

Anne

Lindie, thanks for saying little Reid Harvey will have a happy life in my day care, I will do my best to see that he does. Prayers continue for you and Gene. I am sure the radiologist will need to read the MRI and that may take a while.

Anne, Dh's eye situation is complicated. The doctor felt he needed another injection and that needs time to work before the surgery. there are times when surgery is done immediately at an appointment when it isn't expected and there are times when we think he'll do the surgery but waiting is better. You are way ahead of me on tax preparation, good for you! You definitely did deserve a dinner out, did you get one or did you have to wait for brunch on Sunday? We have collaborative parishes here too but I see merging in their future. We are likely the "guinea pigs" to see what to do and what not to do when the time comes. It hasn't been easy and we have lost a lot of parishioners but in time things will settle and it will be OK. I do believe it will take decades to get rid of the "us" and "them" level of thinking but one day it will happen. Dressing in layers, especially near water, is always a good idea.

Cathy, I don't like dodging in and out of traffic either. Honestly, I don't enjoy driving at high speeds at all. Daffodils sound wonderful but we won't see any for a couple of months even though Mother Nature is teasing us today with a temperature of 48 degrees. Why does your teacher have her baby's bottle at school? Doesn't she rinse after she dumps it? We are having a very low key day here too as DH and DD2 aren't feeling well. DH didn't even want to go to Mass and that is a rarity.

Terri, emoticon

Dianne, airfares really do climb as the dates approach so I hope you get some solid answers soon. emoticon to the expectant mother feeling as big as a house already. Taste of Home is a great recipe source, we have several of their annual cookbooks and use them often. Selling does make more money than giving away but giving away is just so much easier. Good for you for telling the pastor you didn't sign up for the children's Lenten program and shame on whoever just assumed you would without consulting you! Sorry you are in a down mood, I hope the fresh air lifts your spirits. A deadline would get you motivated to clean things out as it would me. Fancy dishes have a time and place but it isn't this weekend. Miss Saigon is very intense and brings up many feelings. DH was SO lucky that his orders to go to Vietnam were called off as they were about to board the plane. You against 5 men singing? You can handle it!

We had a wonderful lunch at a place called Carmella's yesterday and then we went to a place called SAP that features desserts. I bought two strawberry hibiscus macarons for DD2, DH got a coffee and my friend bought two beautiful desserts, one chocolate and one key lime. She said they were for herself and her husband but when we got home she gave them to me! The key lime had basil in it and wasn't appetizing to me at all but the chocolate one was amazing. I didn't buy one because of the weight loss challenges but she just handed it to me so I caved and it was worth the 1/2 pound gain. The show was incredible but we had some very rude patrons right beside us that made negative comments and kept turning their phone light on to look at the program during the show. DD2 discreetly held up her program to block the light at first but became more blatant about it in Act II when she learned we were also bothered. It finally worked about 3/4 of the way through the show. There was a 20 minute intermission but just as we were all seated again, an announcement came on that they were experiencing technical difficulties and we may wish to go back to the bar or the restroom. Nobody left and 20-25 minutes later, the show started again. DH seemed fine all day but once we got home, he needed an inhaler and announced he was going to bed without any supper. He slept most of the day today and now he is doing some reading for school and says he feels better. We'll see what tonight brings. DD2 went through two boxes of tissues on Friday and 1 1/2 yesterday so that's an improvement but she's still not up to par. DD1 could have spent the night but she wanted to get out of this "infirmary" and I didn't blame her. My washer just buzzed so it is time to get the sheets in the dryer and join Dh for some reading. I am curious to see if Nellie will come tomorrow, time will tell.

Good morning everyone, heading to the hospital shortly to take Gene his pants - no news on the test, but do not expect any information until tomorrow - it is a weekend and I was surprised they did the test - but I guess the machine was free. I am just waiting for my phone to charge and then I will head out.

Dianne, I am sure that walk for coffee will help you feel better, we tend to get cabin fever and depressed when we have been in too long and have not been able to go out, I knew I felt better with small walks outside. How are your ears, are they now unplugged ?

Cathy, not sure what caused the stink of the pants, but he never gave me his gaunch to wash - anyway - all fixed. I will ask him about the test when I get there. He did have new visitors last night, his cousins and his sister went and was cheering him up.

Anne, hope you have a good day today and enjoy the scenery !

Terri hope all is well !

Betsy, hope your enjoying your weekend !

Talk with you all later !! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Morning. I am in a down mood--I think things have just piled up. We have warmer temps so I plan to get out for a walk--that should help with the funk. I also need to do laundry and vac. (Ann, I do wish you lived lots closer!) And I am feeling like I need to clean out stuff--but don't don't where or when we will go anywhere so that doesn't really make me feel like DOING.

Lindie, glad he is still doing okay. I expect he was scared but wouldn't admit it. I have had them--they don't bother me cause I just close my eyes.

Anne--glad you got the paperwork together. DH has run ours--looks like we owe less that $100 to state and federal. I think this year we will do deductions again so I am keeping track.

Cathy--you go to the flower show in March, right? I heard from my Philly friend--she is going to be moving her younger sister to an assisted living an hour or 2 northwest of Philly--she had a brain tumor and her lousy husband divorced and abandoned her. So my friend is really busy with that for the next month or two. I want to get into NYC--they are living there part time--to see her and "do" the city with her.

Betsy--hope you are doing fun things this weekend! That doesn't include dinner parties with fancy dishes in my opinion! How was Miss Saigon? I would like to see that one.

Terri--hope the listing of the log house goes well so you can list the canyon house, too. Good luck with selling!!

I am going to get the paper, make some cereal and hope that the other woman makes it to choir! It was me against 5 men on Thursday.

Cathy, are you considering vinyl siding, shingles, or straight wood? The vinyl siding out there now looks like wood. If we were staying here, I think we would replace ours with vinyl. Did you see anything else interesting at the Home Show?

Lindie, sorry that Gene wasn't in a good mood when you got there. I bet he's overtired and annoyed that he has lost his freedom being stuck in the hospital. He is probably scared, too. Glad you were able to get his clothes clean and no more smell! I agree with Cathy, probably lost some control when he passed out. Hope the MRI gives the doctors good information to work with! Rich has told me that Canada's lottery winners get their winnings without being taxed. You are right, if I were a winner I would want to be playing the Canadian lottery and live in Canada, lol!

Betsy, you asked if our collaborative would merge. As long as Cardinal Sean O'Malley is heading the Archdiocese of Boston, I do not believe we will. I believe when he first became Archbishop, he did start merging parishes to save money and due to lack of priests. However, there was A LOT of backlash! Making collaboratives was the alternative...parishes stayed separated, but staff worked together. It also allowed for Mass time changes so that priests could continue to provide Mass times at all the parishes. There are other aspects to collaboratives, too, but I don't need to include them here, lol! Boring! Lol!

We are going to the 9:00 Mass in the neighboring town (not our collaborative parish) and then heading to Plymouth to have brunch with my sister and her husband. It should be a nice time. It's sunny today and the temps are supposed to reach upper 40's, though being by the ocean may make it seem colder. I will dress in layers so that I will be comfortable no matter what the temps are, lol!

Have a wonderful Sunday!

Anne

Lindie, he was probably getting scared about that MRI about to be performed. Has he ever had one? Hope he did okay---I can't even stand the thought of going into one and I only went in feet first and not all the way----gives me shudders to remember it, too. Gene might have had an accident when everything happened---body functions tend to do that in moments of stress.
Just church today on the agenda. Hope everyone has a good day.

Good evening everyone, I see all the posts, thanks for the well wishes for Gene. I went to see him this afternoon, my sister went in the morning, she said he was in good mood but when I got there it must have soured as he was not in a good mood so I did not stay long. On the way home I get a text message from him saying he was going for his MRI in 35 minutes. No idea on the results or what the plan of action is beyond that. He's walking, not as good as he should with his leg but his vision seems ok - he said he's not sleeping, understandable as he is used to his own room, not a community room with 3 other people. I asked him if he gets a sleeping pill, he saide he did not know what he gets. But I am home now and doing his work pants as they reaked so bad, I could not stand it, and he knew they reaked ! I thought he had stinky feet/socks from the shoes as mine get that way - but nope his work pants grrrr he has 3 new pairs he can switch out dang it !! Anyway I brought them home and washed them, reakie smell all gone they are in the dryer now.

Dianne, yes you can say no, you have free will like we all do and you have plans as well, and that should be farmed out to others to encourage them to volunteer instead of the same people all the time. I hope you find out what is up with your dad too. Did you get the DVD from the library ? We can get dvds from the library for all sorts of things.

Betsy, glad Reid made it into the world, he will have a happy life in your day care !lol Hope DH is doing ok with the eyes - its not fun when conditions affect the eye sight for sure.

Cathy, so it was the wood after all ? strange if the tecs did not complain but perhaps the wood was near an intake vent which caused it to go through out the school? I hope you get some siding that you really like and a good company to do the work too ! Oh yes I dont' think he will go to rehab for this as his speach is not affected and he is not paralized by this event - I think they will recommend a form of physio therapy.

Anne, move to Canada, you do NOT pay taxes on lottery winnings at this time LOL and there are some BIG winners too but they do pay tax on any investment or interest made from the win. Glad you are ready to get that nasty job done - I need two more forms, no sign of them online or offline ! HOpe you were able to go out for dinner and had a good time too !

Terri, how is your weekend going? I did tell Gene that all my spark friends are praying for him and wishing him well - no response .... lol

Better get to the laundry I Have other things to do too !

Dianne, GLAD the dinner turned out so well. I think I would like it but doubt Howard would. I haven't read anything about the show so I was surprised at that news. Maybe I should Google it. I love when they have dresses and hats made of flowers. Hope you get more information so you can make your plane reservation for a decent price. Will you leave the return date open? I saw an ad for an exercise program. Looked interesting but not something I could do with my knees. Good for you in telling pastor that you did not sign up. Use that trip to help your parents card!
Anne, you totally earned dinner out. Glad you are all set for the tax person. Hope you don't owe. They took the lumber away and no smell at the school. But they did bring in an extra cleaning crew yesterday to redo rooms that they didn't do a good job on according to the teacher. My teacher was one. She is a complainer. We do have a gnat problem but with the kids eating in the room plus she dumps her baby's bottle down the sink, it really is no wonder.
I texted Michael and we all met for lunch. That was nice. Then DH and I went to the home show. We will get 5 quotes for siding once they call and set them up. I also filled up a large trash bag with shredded old paid bills this morning.

Hi all!
Dianne, thanks for posting the recipes. I am very interested in trying them out. Maybe one day this week! Good for you! Why did they just assume that you would do it? Oh yeah, I know...Dianne always does it, lol! I should have said "no, not interested in the fundraiser" with being tied up with ChristLife, lol! Hope your Dad and Mom will let you know earlier than later for the trip there! Hope you aren't pushing yourself too much with those exercises...you do not want a relapse!

Betsy, so glad the baby arrived! I hope Mom and baby are doing well and that the rest of the family is ready for the new addition! Are they waiting for your DH's eye to stop bleeding to do the procedure or was it the first available spot? I would want it done NOW! I hope all goes well! Hope you have/had a great time today!

Cathy, was the smell gone yesterday? I hope they figured it out! I agree, the lane departure and the blind spot warnings are great features in the cars! I know I will want them in my next car! Not sure if I said it before, but if I did it's worth repeating..."yay to getting tickets to the flower show!" Any fun things on the agenda this weekend?

Terri, glad you like the realtor and have confidence in her. I guess we all took your concern about her comments about log houses a little too much to heart! I hope there aren't too many projects left! You will be very happy once both places are sold and you only have to deal with one place!

Lindie, how scary! I am glad that they have some explanation for Gene's health situation right now. It sounds a little more intense than I thought though, since you think he will be spending so much time in the hospital! Around here I think they kick you out if you can breathe! Not really, but they do push people out rather fast! It is the insurance companies, not the doctors, though. I hope they are able to assist Gene with a plan to help him get well fast! Your sister is right, there should be a plan in place for Gene's funds. I hope he will consider this. Prayers continued!

Quiet day. Rich couldn't get out for b-fast...the heating company was coming to the church this morning. So I vacuumed my bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, living room and dining room. Then attacked my tax prep work. I brought some of the information to work and got my spreadsheet set up and started there. The pieces that were missing I took care of once I got home. I am now prepared for Monday's tax accountant appointment is worth it!
I took too long going through some of the medical file and the possible different ways I could have paid the bills (I notated what and when I paid, but did not indicate which account paid it). I guess I was tired because the information was already on my spreadsheet which meant I got it from my check register pages. Duh! Then I thought J had a lottery win that he got a tax slip for, but couldn't find that. I confirmed with him that he did win. It was $1000 on a scratch ticket. I have plenty of non-winning scratch tickets to offset that win. I did find the tax slip for it...I filed it in with our paystubs. Duh...why not under "M" for Massachusetts Lottery! Not sure where my brain was that day, lol! I have all the receipts and checking information for the 2019 tax folder. I sure hope we don't get whacked again this year with the Federal tax. I did not take care of having extra taken out of our pay last year as early as I had intended. I think my hip surgery interfered with that process, lol!

Rich must have known that I was referring to him...he just called me, lol! He wanted to know if we wanted to go to dinner and see our old choir director play. Going to see if J will go...I think I deserve dinner out after all the paperwork I've gone through!

Have a good night!

Anne

Hello all! First of all, thank God Gene is doing better and has lots of people checking on him! Sounds like they have a good handle on his issues and know what to look into. Now to just get him to DO what they say!

My dad sees a physical therapist on Monday--not the colonoscopy doctor. "No idea when that will be" so either I really misunderstood my mom or she wasn't thinking when she answered my questions. I do hope to get some notice before I have to go--airfares really go up as the date gets closer.

Betsy--glad the baby has arrived--I hope all goes well for them. High BP can be such an issue. The daughter of our friends is due in April but she feels big as a house--little does she know! LOL I thought she had some preeclampsia issues but evidently not. They don't know if they have their house sold yet or not--some mold was found and the buyer wants $90K of remediation done. They may have another buyer who wants it "as is" and they'd prefer to sell to that buyer but have to formally say "no" to do the remediation so the current buyers will walk. All told, I want to sell but I don't want to sell! LOL

Dinner was GREAT! 425 oven for 30 minutes for the chicken and the roasted veggies. Taste of Home recipes--I will try to post the links in the recipe chat. WE ate everything and it was certainly a hit. I roasted baby potatoes, baby bella mushrooms, zucchini, grape tomatoes, garlic cloves and onion. Wonderful!

Cathy--my daffodils are up but no buds yet. I usually have 2-3 that bloom against the south side of the house in March. I saw that the Philly Garden show will have a replica of Grace Kelly's wedding gown. Should be gorgeous.

Terri--yes, selling that stuff can take a little time but pay off! I know I got lucky in Dec to sell stuff. I will try again--as my sister says, selling nets more $$ than giving it away! Her DD is no longer horse crazy so she is selling lots of her horse stuff. You need to get someone to put your log cabin in the SF papers--you may do very well that way.

Anne--I hope you don't get too caught up in this next project. I saw that I was co-leading the kids' program for Lent--and responded to the pastor right away that "nope, I didn't sign up for that" so we'll see what happens. I don't have the patience at the end of the day to deal with some of those kids AND I have helped with EVERYONE of the programs and think I deserve the time off--I am also using my dad and my unscheduled but upcoming trip. It is planned for 6 weeks and the "play" isn't enough to keep them busy--especially when they found a play to use. We could have read the Bible and written one but....I am NOT in charge. (I hate to be pushy but I am not going to do it this time.)

So--I did a barre exercise class--I bought Get Healthy U TV and the classes are really good. I may quite the Y--we'll see. It is out of Minnesota and I like it. Kicked my butt, that's for sure.

Betsy, glad the baby has arrived. I myself have very limited peripheral vision because my glasses don't wrap around my head---LOL One reason why I want a new car with the side warning when you go to switch lanes. I don't like dodging in and out of traffic unless it is absolutely necessary--it causes me worry---more so on the left side---and that is definitely my weakest eye. Sure hope this helps him and that he has no more issues after this surgery. Hope the weather is nice for your little night out and hope you feel like eating out, too.
Cold start but supposed to warm up. I have seen lots of daffodils in bloom now all over the place----usually the first place I see them in the Flower Show---so you know it is early here. Hope everyone has a good day! Lindie, hope you see some improvement with Gene today.

Lindie and Team, no news from Becca yet but I still expect him/her to be born before tomorrow rolls around. It sounds like Gene has a good medical team. The trick will be to get him to follow orders when he is released. emoticon continue.

Back to Cathy, the other reason they hesitate to do more surgery on DH's eye is the more they do, the greater the risk is of losing peripheral vision. Dr. Kahook is a great retina doctor and we have faith in his abilities so we follow his instruction. Back to the season tickets to the theater, we have a couple lined up for the next one at the end of March but that is dependent on whether snow plowing services are needed, sigh. I think Mary would still go but Matt would have to stay here and plow. Here's hoping it doesn't snow that weekend!

Anne, is there any chance your two churches would ever merge physically like ours are doing? That would sure save you a lot of running around but it is quite a process and there are definitely a lot of mixed feelings about it. You should do ALL your work during work hours so you get paid! Of course Fr. L wanted your input, you always know what to do, especially when food is concerned. it's funny that you mentioned Paczki because I just got a lesson in them from our grocery store baker last night. It turns out the ones they are selling as Paczki are the same sugared jelly donuts they sell all year. Around here, if you want the real thing, you have to order them from a church. The baker also said that she felt the outside of the Paczki was more like a roll than a donut. It is too late for us to order any now and I am doing really well on my challenges so I think I will try one next year. Also, a true Paczki has prune filling but they do make them with several fruit fillings. isn't it great when packages arrive earlier than expected? I just got a CD that I intended to give DH on Feb. 14th in today's mail! it's a good thing it is music for St. Patrick's Day!

Dianne, I have been better for a couple of weeks but the last few days weren't great. I am doing better today and hopefully, whatever this was is leaving me. I haven't been sick enough not to work but I just haven't felt like eating. We are trying frozen pizza tonight and if I can handle that, I can handle our restaurant lunch before the show tomorrow. Sleeping 8-9 hours would be fantastic! I could do that but DH's schedule interrupts that and the only alternative is sleeping without him, no thanks! We are not ready to sell our house but I do think about it for the future. There's a lot to be done and we need to start soon so it doesn't pile up. Carpet lasting 35 years is incredible! Ours is 24 and really showing wear. 50 degree weather sounds magnificent, we are excited about 40 on Sunday, hope it happens! We roasted veggies from Hello Fresh and loved them, I'll be curious to see what you think. Your chicken sounds delicious too. Is the modified colonoscopy due to your father's age or is there something specific they are looking for? If they find something, I hope they can fix it easily. Safe travels to you, that's coming up quickly.

Have a super Saturday, I don't know if I'll get here before we leave BUT I promise to post baby news if I get any.

Popped back on tonight to see if there was news from Lindie. Glad to hear he is getting good care and that they are concerned about some of the things Lindie has mentioned in the past. He is probably scared but not admitting it plus part could be from the mini strokes. Lindie, I know you would like him home but he might need to go to a rehab place for a while. If he gets in one that has a good record with strokes he will do good there. My mom went to a good place for her first stroke and they were good in getting her ready to come home. Is there an elevator or just stairs at your place?
Betsy, hope things are okay with mom and baby. Did she have this issue with first pregnancy. Enjoy the show.
Anne, GLAD you Tried to not get involved with Mardi Graw thing even if you weren't successful. Lol
Dianne, hope dinner turns out well.

I am back from the hospital, and have gotten to speak with a few of his medical team. Gene has a medical team for his physio, diet, neurology and a team of student doctors checking in on him. The student doctors said that there was great improvement from yesterday and Gene had mention to me that maybe he had blacked out as I was trying to get more details. I did get to speak to the physio therapist and told her that his walking distance is limited before he has to rest, and that he quite often stumbles over his right foot. I also told her he might be stressed about missing work as he is highly client oriented and they will arrange for the hospital social worker to assist him with any benefit issues he might have and to try and get him to relax about not working. He called his employer and said he would be off work and in the hospital for at least a week for now but the therapist was talking short term disability... all in all they can't determine anything till he has his mri - he had a second ct scan on his liver, kidneys and something else. They are concerned about his weight but I assured them he has always been lighter then a feather since birth being a premie. My sister showed up and added her two cents and then asked to speak to Gene privately. She tried to convince him to open up a secondary account with me on it, just in case, but Gene and I have talked about these issues and do not think that is necessary, however, another plan might be more appropriate and Gene and I will discuss that when he is home. Naturally he is blaming himself for letting his leg issue go so long but its not like he has not talked to doctors about it, always giving his own opinion of why his leg acts up. Dee will try and go see him tonight, and I will go back tomorrow afternoon after my meeting. He's ok with that - he has a good team of people working with him, he just hates having the IV line in his arm as it is at the bend of his inner elbow, they do have to keep that in for the MRI.

Terri, well done on the sale, hope you can sell more items, and glad you have full confidence in this real estate person. Did you get more pics taken and the grapes pruned ?

Betsy, let us know when you can, you know these things never take place when expected and keep us in expectation !

Thanks for your support and well wishes for Gene, its appreciated, but its also amazing what a prayer to our Heavenly Father can do in times like this.

Anne, hope your day is going well,

Cathy any more smell issues ?

I'm just popping in for a quick minute to check for updates.

Glad to hear from Lindie and Betsy regarding yesterday's posts. Praying for Gene and Becca and Betsy's dh.

I finally took the plunge and posted something for sale online and got a "hit" within 5 minutes. (It was a cement mixer attachment for Steve's tractor that he doesn't ever use) That guy told me right away that he wanted it, but is in Redding (2 hrs away) and eventually asked enough questions about it to learn that it probably wouldn't work for his small tractor. I had 4 other men contact me and I was sure glad that Steve was here to answer their questions. It ended up going to a neighbor whom we'd never met. He grew up here and raised his kids here (all our kids know them) but we'd never met. They picked it up today and now I want to walk around the property and take pictures of other things I want to go away!

There are only two real estate offices here in our little town and I'm not unhappy with this agent. She's very popular and quite busy, so I know she sells a lot of houses and in some very unique situations. She has just been pointing out things that a prospective buyer will notice right off the bat and she's not wrong. The trim work that he has already done was a biggie because the raw edges of the drywall was still showing in the doorways. These other little spots are probably some that she'd mentioned before and I hadn't written them down. He's going to finish the stone steps at the bottom of the stairs this weekend and has gone to the store to buy the mortar mix. He also ordered some chinking from a log home supply and will do some of that soon. We are close.

We've also been talking about the house in the canyon and getting it on the market this year. First things first and this house has to be first.

I didn't get the grapes pruned, but am going out again today. I did plant another flat of seeds, though. Now I have leeks, tomatillos, dill and collard greens started. All of them recommended 6-8 weeks ahead of last frost for indoor planting, so I'm right on time for that. I don't think they're getting any frost out at the ranch now, but it's still cold.

I don't remember what else I was going to respond to and need to run. Just wanted you to know I was thinking about you and still alive.

My babies are sleeping so I am on my phone as Mia sleeps right next to our desktop.

Lindie, how scary for you and Gene! I was happy to see you reported he is better today and that you were able to get to the hospital. Do remember to get any instructions for after discharge in writing, it really helps. I had to google whether a pin stroke is the same as a TIA and it is. Prayers for you and Gene will continue.

Cathy, the eye surgery can only be done when there is a need. This is a similar issue but a new one. DH has the unfortunate “pleasure” of having an eye shape that is prone to this problem. I believe the statistic was 1 in 10,000 people have this but it might be 100,000. Sadly, age magnifies the problem and there is nothing we can do about that. Stress is not a factor. The baby needs to appear because Becca’s BP got too high, even on medication. Still no news. All the ladies I tried to give our extra ticket to would have loved to go but they had other plans or family obligations. DD1 is thrilled to go and we are thrilled to have her so it is a win/win. Mia is crying so I will finish later.

Not sure how I missed getting here yesterday but I did. Oh, my, Lindie! Poor Gene must have been so worried/scared. Good of you to get someone there for him. I hope all is well with him and the tests are conclusive and make sense. Please do keep us informed!

And Betsy--is it somehow stress related for your DH? I hope all goes well with the surgery for your DH. And glad you'll have a lighter day. I am sorry you are still sick--we just don't bounce back as fast as we used to. My ears are still plugged but I am not coughing as much. I can still sleep 8-9 hours with no trouble! Has the new baby arrived ok?

Terri--I would talk to another realtor. WE need to call someone or two--not to list yet but to get a feel for them and what they think we need to do to sell. I don't want to do lots of redecorating but may need to remove carpet and put down wood. The carpet is all 35+ years old....

Cathy--good of you to take your friend and glad the traffic wasn't bad. Yes, the snow was all south of us. We have 3-4 days coming of 50 degrees! I hope to get outside to walk. It has been too cold.

Anne--glad they didn't get you to be in charge--or did they? Choir practiced last night--but I was the only woman so it was odd to not have the melody--I did the alto cause that is my usual part. We did a new song and I really messed it up--the director and I both laughed when she played the part cause it was NOT what I had guessed!

So I did get to Bob's yesterday and even got to the grocery store. Dinner tonight with friends and I am making 2 new things--roasted veggies and a dijon garlic chicken. Should be good and I'll post recipes if they are. Better get my workout in! Oh--Dad will have a modified colonoscopy likely the week of March 9 but waiting for official word. Hopefully he'll find out on Monday.

Hi all!
Lindie, so glad Gene's work sent him to the hospital...he may have just gone home and who knows what could have happened! I hope they can come up with some definite answers and some good solutions! Glad your sister got a good review. Did she really think she wouldn't!

Cathy, hope that smell is gone. It does seem weird that wood would be the cause, but who knows what chemical it was treated with. When was it brought it?

Betsy, sorry to hear that DH's eye is giving him trouble again! Glad he has a fairly quick appointment to try and resolve it. Hope today's little ones don't have you exerting too much energy! Stay well!

Dianne, glad you are starting to feel more like yourself! I'm sure Bob was very happy to see you! Hope your Dad is okay. What procedure is he going to have?

Terri, I would definitely get another realtor, or two, in to have other opinions! Your place is very unique and I would think there are plenty of people who would love it! There are some jobs that do not help with the selling of the house...I hope that realtor isn't giving those jobs out as suggestions!

Life is very busy. Every time I think I will have a few minutes, someone interrupts! Very annoying! Running back and forth to the other church takes time out of my day, too. However, I am doing a lot of it during work hours, so at least I get paid, lol! J is feeling much better, thank you! He will have a follow up in a few weeks. Hopefully that will be the only one needed...at least for a while.

Fr. L is planning a Mardi Gras service next Tuesday evening with a collation after. I did not ask any questions because I did not want to get involved. However, Wednesday afternoon the secretary and Fr. L were looking for me while I was upstairs cleaning...however, they caught me when I went back down for something. They wanted my input, lol! I suggested finger pastries, cookies, brownies, coffee, tea, and water. I am going to pick up some paczkis (Polish donuts) this morning to see if they would be a good treat to include. I haven't had them from the supermarket before, so I don't know how they compare to the ones I remember J's mom making.

I was charged with checking the pricing for new altar cloths for both parishes. It became more complicated when Fr. J asked me to contact the Archdiocesan sisters who make the "Boston" chasubles...he wanted to have the same color as the purple (Lent/Advent color) chasuble. I contacted them, waited a few days for a response...not enough material available...and then had to connect back with the original vendor. When he called me back this past Tuesday, he said they could still get it to me by next Tuesday. I almost fell over when the package was delivered yesterday! I checked the one for my church...it fits great. I will check the other church's today. I hope it fits well, too! The great thing...the material is lightweight polyester and seems to not show wrinkles! One more task finished! Yay!

Need to get to the grocery store for those paczkis! Have a good day!

Lindie, how scary for you. Couldn' t you call a cab or take the bus there? The headache is not a good sign but I am sure they know that and are monitoring that. I was wondering if it was Bell's Palsy, which mocks a stroke but does come on quick and is very similar but not permanent for the most part. So glad his bosses recognized the seriousness of this and sent him by ambulance. They can't argue about sick time now. I do know how scary this is with going thru it with my mom. My prayers will be going up for him and for you as this is stressful for you, too. Glad your sister got a good review so maybe she will stop talking about living in a van. Glad you figured out how to sync with Spark on the watch---you really wouldn't want to try to connect with the team on that watch.
Betsy, oh, my, he should have had that eye surgery when it was scheduled before---these incidents cannot be good for the eye. Glad it is scheduled so quickly and hope no complications to set it back this time. Good that you can go ahead and cancel daycare so you can take care of him. Hope everything went okay with the baby delivery. Were there complications that made them do it now? Glad you will have an easy Friday and won't be too tired for the Show. Sorry you had so much trouble finding others to go with you this time and sure hope you are not getting sick again. Maybe you should ask DD1 to come help you by cleaning for you.
Dianne, you feeling better?
Anne, still running on that wheel?
Terri, what tasks are keeping you so busy?
NO traffic issues taking my friend to her appointment so I was home earlier than last time. We stopped at a new Chick-fil-a on the way home---that was nice. I was tired of sitting when I got home so often got up and just wandered around the house to get the blood circulating. So glad it is Friday !
Hope we hear good news from everyone today---prayers for all!

Hi EVeryone, I have a further update - it turns out that Gene did not have a stroke, but has had what they call pin strokes in the past - he does have some neurological issues so they are keeping him and they are running more tests and we will have better information. It turns out his employer sent him to the hospital by ambulance so not sure of the details. He does have a massive head ache, Dee thinks its a migrain but they won't give him anything at this time for the tests they need to do and it looks like they will keep him till Monday at least. Dee was there to talk to the doctor so that was good. Sorry if I scared anyone, All will be well as he is in Jehovah's hands and Jehovah will take care of him.

I finally heard from Gene at 4:30 pm this aft - he is still at the emerg as his ct scan shows he has had a stroke - he is waiting to see a neurologist. I contacted my Daughter Dee and she is going to the hospital to keep him company as I can't get there and to keep me informed and to keep him calm - he sent messages then turned off his phone I think. I am sure he is scared some what - if not googling about strokes but he will be in good hands at the hospital ( a sister in my hall works at that hospital ) so really its the waiting to hear more information that is trying one's patience. Never ever expected this to happen, but it does.

Betsy, do tell your news tomorrow, we can rejoice with the mom ! Ok out of here for now, will be back later ... cheers

I will have a big announcement tomorrow as Nellie's mother is being induced in the morning! I haven't felt well for a few days ( yes, again, grrr) so it will be nice to have a lighter load. Nellie will be with her grandma and Dela will be spending the day with her father so only the babes for me.

Terri, Happy belated birthday! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon I didn't know what food you'd like for your party so just pretend whatever you desire for a birthday meal is here, please.

Terri, I hear you about the filing of papers and how to do it efficiently. Our DD1 would probably suggest scanning them into a computer and making files that way but not everyone would be comfortable with that, including me! Just a thought. Your girls will love the DVDs for their birthday gifts. We never got a camcorder but we have plenty of still shots that we could use to make a DVD...or maybe our children will do it for us! You are right, mothers need to hear they are appreciated on days that aren't Mothers Day, when it is fully expected.

Lindie, DD2 does have a new roommate situation but that doesn't start until September. I don't blame you for staying away from strep throat, it is awful. You're right, this month is flying by but that's ok because we would like to be finished with snow! Everyone needs to hear from their employers that they are doing well from time to time, it increases productivity so it is a win/win for boss and employee.

Cathy, you went through Call the Midwife quickly! Do you have any favorite seasons or characters? I really liked Jenny and wondered if they would do as well without her but they obviously did! One story that sticks out in my mind is the one where the White father completely accepts the Black baby as his own, no questions asked, so sweet. No insurance for WI teachers upon retirement since Act 10 happened. You can pay an astronomical rate for 18 months to keep the policy but it isn't worth it because people need to have food and shelter too. DH mentioned retiring next year again so I really need to convince him that one more year wouldn't be so awful. I'll have to do something for myself but don't know what. If I use the Marketplace, I may have to quit working to get coverage at a lower rate and I hate that thought. Presidents Day has never been a day off around here, it is a day of no mail and no banking and that's about it. Yes, I am very excited for Miss Saigon, I just hope I feel better by then. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can... Yes, our temperatures did dip below zero again but not enough for any closures, just typical Wisconsin winter days. Treated lumber isn't the source seems to be the opinion here and I agree. Once again, time will tell.

Dianne, hang in there, you will get better! emoticon to needing your DH, "out of your hair!" I love mine as well but completely understand the feeling. This is the second set of parent teacher conferences, the first ones were in the fall. Our season tickets are indeed for the PAC in Appleton. We see Miss Saigon this weekend, Escape to Margaritaville at the end of March, The Band's Visit in April and Dear Evan Hansen in June. We have four tickets for each show so we have been sharing them with friends. Cindy ( recently lost DH Tim to cancer) was going to go with us this weekend but her daughter, a senior at UWM ( your alma mater!) is having a rough time and is coming home for some much needed mother-daughter time. We called multiple people we thought would appreciate the tickets but everyone was busy so DD1 is coming along with my friend and partner in the Community Weight Race. What procedure will your dad be having? Will it be at UW Hospital or the Carbone Center? I will send up prayers that whatever they find can be fixed easily.

Anne, I got absolutely nothing but laundry accomplished on Sunday as I just didn't have any energy. I will clean/straighten like crazy the day after DH's surgery to prepare for our party. I am sure he will sleep most of the day and all I will have to do is feed him and keep track of any meds he needs. I think I said this before but I completely understand being disappointed with food after it has been hyped up by others. I like to have low expectations so I am not disappointed if I don't enjoy it and be pleasantly surprised if I do. Dh doesn't understand that level of thinking but it's the way I have always been.

No news from DH all day, I hope that means he's doing well.

emoticon We have had sun all week but low temps enough to have frost on the ground ! Gene just texted me saying he is coming home he has a dry throat and cough - its not like him to come home - but he's not home yet, he might be trying to get in to see his doctor which he just saw Tuesday. The doctor confirmed that his cholesteral is fine and his iron is fine too - one who is not trained should not try to read their own reports LOL I have peeled some mandarins for him to have through out the day for vitamin C although green peppers are higher in vitamin C but maybe he stopped by the pharmacy to get some meds, at any rate its been over an hour and a half and nothome yet.

I have finally got the Iwatch to sync with spark, BUT I had to get the spark app on my phone to do that and now it acts like I am a new member AGAIN and does not show the groups, not liking this app, but if it records and syncs the fitness stuff I will live with it ... I also learnt how to do the ECC on the watch - the button on the side is called the "crown" but I thought the crown was the heart that is displayed when you activate the app - lol well so far so good, these will be kept in my Ihealth records lol

Betsy, oh no to DH and his eye issue - that must be some what frightening for him. Will he do the park again, considering all the stress he is enduring with the eye and I wonder if the stress itself is aggreivating the eye problem too.

Cathy, is that smell back or did they close the school again, really hazmat should have been called in by now to look at the building especially where it is the strongest - it could be anything, maybe you just have a sick school building ! Hope the drive to the Comp appointment was not too complicated and you got home ok.

Dianne, how are you feeling ? I am sure some exercize will help move the blood along and get oxygen in and help you to feel better, but try not to over do so you do not relaps and not be able to go to see your dad when he has his procedure done. Glad Bob was happy to see you - bet he was counting the days !

Terri, it would not hurt, I dont' think anyway , to get a second opinion from another realtor - I know many people who would love to have a log cabin/home - perhaps that realtor does not like them and that could prejudice her toward selling. Did you figure out how to do your filing for easier access to papers you might need? When I kept my own records I used to write on the tabs what was in the file - tried to do that alphabetically, but some things had to be grouped together, like medical, sunlife etc ... I am sure STeve would rather go play with his dump truck then do the stairs, but he really has done a phenominal job on them, and tweaking them would just enhance that ... so hopefully he got over it ok and will get busy ! Just think, its just this house, you still have your cabin to do too. How nice of your DIL to make the video and such, she really appreicates you !

Anne, hope all is well and you are not too "snowed:" under at work so to speak. How are you feeling, is J better ?

Well I better get going, I was suppose to wash floors but I am waiting for Gene to get home. Had breakfast with my sister, she had a work review and it was a good one - so she is not so stressed as she was. She has been there 4 years working the night shift, and has been steady at that. I told her it was good for her to hear that because she was thinking no one appreciated her but they do ! Anyway, have a good one, enjoy your day eh !

Cathy, DH has conferences tonight so the plan is to take a shower after work and then catch up. That said, the reason I didn't get back here yesterday is because DH's eye acted up again and he had to go in for an emergency appointment. There's more bleeding in the eye again and therefore vision is a tad worse. He was given another injection and surgery was set up for after school on March 3rd. He will stay home and recover on March 4th and I have closed Day Care so he can easily have peace. After that injection, he is really sore so I was doing all I could to help him out with OTC pain relievers, ice packs, blankets, etc. He was officially asked to come back as the park manager this summer so hopefully, all will go well with the surgery. The doctor has said that the more surgery he has, the more likely it is he will lose his peripheral vision, that would be tough.

Barring any other life interruptions, I will be back tonight. Have a fabulous day!

Betsy, guessing he didn't stay that late since you didn't get back on. Sounds like you are excited to see Miss Saigon. HOpe the weather is not so bad for the trip there and back. Didn't you get really low temps again? Saw it mentioned on the news. You will laugh but they actually mentioned some snow for us tonight---probably only a dusting if that. Dianne won't get any of it---actually more for further south of us.
Dianne, glad you got to see Bob. Sounds like you are starting to feel more like your normal self but don't rush it. Hope they get that date set up soon so you can make your plane reservations. Sure hope that goes well, too.
Terri, did you get the grape vines tamed? Woohoo to getting rid of all that paperwork. Sorry we forgot your birthday on here---I really miss not having that calendar on here that reminded me of those dates---that was a useful tool on here---oh, well! Too funny about Steve getting miffed, but if he hadn't put off all those little things, they wouldn't need to be done now---LOL Glad she was impressed by the steps. Maybe you should talk to another realtor since this one doesn't seem so gungho on selling the property. A lot of people nowadays seem to want log homes. I bet that video was funny.
They say the lumber--treated---got wet bringing it in which set off the smell---I still find it hard to believe.
I am taking half a day off today to take a friend to her workman's comp lawyer meeting near the Bay Bridge----they say the traffic has finally settled down up there---sure hope so.
Have a good day!

Good afternoon! I've been up and down from the desk all morning and am about to go outside for a while and do some yard work. It's late in the season for it, but I'm going to prune Steve's grapes. He didn't get around to it at all last year and they are a jungle now. It's sunny but cool, so perfect weather for the job.

The realtor loved everything Steve has done so far and is particularly impressed with the front steps. She pointed out a few spots that need some trim where the log meets drywall. He's not happy about it and feels like he's being pecked to death, but after a while he got over it and started thinking about how to do what she's asking. I also called for a pest inspection so we can have that done and out of the way, and also be alerted to anything we should know about and deal with before listing the house. The realtor is a little concerned about financing for a buyer because they don't always like custom homes, but we'll move forward anyway.

I slept well last night too, Dianne. I got up with Steve yesterday at 4 am and put in a long day of cleaning and then the visit from the realtor. Steve got home at about 7 pm and after dinner, sat in his chair and promptly fell asleep as soon as I started the Netflix DVD. I watched a couple of episodes of Burn Notice and then woke him up to go to bed. I'm not sure what time he got up, but he let me sleep until I woke up on my own at about 8:15. It sure felt good!

I burned about 25 years worth of tax returns yesterday and still retained the past ten. Some say to keep 7 years, others say 5--so 10 years ought to be plenty. It took up more than half a drawer in the filing cabinet! I need to figure out what to save and how to organize it. I have receipts and records from the two properties we own and lots of receipts for the ranch already. UGH! Keeping it isn't the problem. Filing it in a way and place that I can lay my hands on it later IS what I struggle with. I also have decades of receipts and records for the canyon house from when it was a rental, but I no longer have to keep all of those because it was our primary residence for 3 years, so those are all gone too.

I found some more pictures of my two younger daughters that were taken at their dance studio in their costumes for recitals. I'm putting together a birthday gift for both of them and will include those in the package. Their birthdays are in May, so they'll get them at the same time. I had several VHS recordings of their recitals that we had put on DVDs at Costco, so those will be the main gift. The photos are a bonus. They'll get some cool memories from their childhood and I'll get to free up more space. Win-Win.

DD2 invited me to brunch on Sunday (it was my birthday) and then posted the loveliest thing on FB with some pictures and videos of me picking plums at the ranch from the bucket of Steve's tractor! LOL I knew she was taking pictures (Sarah said it was for when we had to explain how I broke my neck--LOL) but I didn't know she made a video. We don't do a lot of sappy affirmations around here and it really warmed my heart to read her praises and appreciation. Sometimes we moms need to hear that we've done a good job whether we think we do or not.

I'm glad everyone seems to be feeling better. Cathy, I doubt that the lumber is the issue. If it is, how could that lumber be sold for use in a dwelling or other building occupied by people? It doesn't make sense. I remember the old days when they soaked fence posts in creosote and that stuff stunk. I remember my dad telling us kids not to breathe it and I'm sure it's been found to be carcinogenic because the don't use it anymore. I hope the smell is gone soon and that there are no lasting effects from it.

Time for me to get moving and get something done that doesn't involve sitting at the computer. Happy Humpday~

Morning! I slept super last night--first night in a long time that I slept through. Did a 22 minute video this AM--again, it makes me feel more energetic!

I did go out to lunch with my friend yesterday--she leaves next Wed for CO for her son's wedding. The husband hasn't flown since 1978 so should be an interesting trip! I also popped into the home to see Bob--he was sure lonely.

Cathy--they still don't know where the smell is coming from cause it isn't the treated lumber. I'd feel sorry for them but they are all being know-it-alls who don't know! Expect another day off!

Betsy--is this the first parent-teacher conference? Ours used to be in Jan and parents finally convinced someone that it is too late in the year so now they do in Nov. Are you going to Appleton to see Miss Saigon?

I will be heading to WI sometime in the next 4-6 weeks--Dad will have a procedure in Madison so I will take them down for it. Sure hope we can get dates set soon.

Cathy, I tend to agree with you because if it were the treated lumber, wouldn't the tech people be really ill before it spread to others in the school? I guess removal of the lumber will tell the tale!

I have to eat breakfast but wanted to pop in quickly, I will TRY to get back here before DH comes home tonight. They have parent teacher conferences tomorrow night so I know he'll stay late to get his room sparkling clean.

Have a wonderful Wednesday! Only three days until we go to see Miss Saigon.

Dianne, that will be even more work for you but since you love yard sales and live somewhere where it would be good to have, it could be successful. How did the exercise go? I definitely moved more yesterday than I did all weekend and felt better for it---but I did wear my brace to work and that helped a lot. The odor started to come back---they are now saying it is the stored lumber---so why didn't you get rid of it this past weekend? I find it hard to believe it is that because of where it is---the tech room is far away from the main area where the smell seemed to be the worse. The school did smell funny at first---kind of a chemical smell like when you have a new appliance and use it for the first time---figure that was from the duct work being cleaned.
I did take off for the funeral. It was a nice send off for a very sweet lady---I couldn't stay for the meal as I had to get back to work and didn't go to the graveside part either. Saw a lot of people who have moved on to other churches and that was nice to see them.
Have a good Wednesday.

Morning. Hubby went into the office--first day he has been "gone" from underfoot since Jan 21! Yes, I love him but get out of my hair!

I am going to do another 10-15 minutes video. I felt better after moving yesterday so that is going to happen again!

Cathy--I hope it is better at school.

Terri--it will be interesting to see what the realtor says. I really need to get moving on the clutter/extra stuff/etc. I foresee a BIG garage sale here.....

Better get a move on!

Anne, I do the same thing with my car---hate to scrape and at least it doesn't take the car so long to warm up for my ride---LOL Hope J listens to his body, or at least comes home, eats, and goes right to bed. Sorry your rest got interrupted. Did you get everything done that you wanted to?
Dianne, glad you did not go with that cough and still not feeling 100%. Glad you limited your exercise to a manageable amount of time---you can build back up slowly but I know that cough would be so annoying while trying to work out. I have my cough back in the early morning---think it's the weather flucuating so much here---probably need to take my allergy meds already..
Terri, sorry that Steve had to go back but the paycheck is nice to have to pay for those improvement projects---so sad that you have to do so much to sell the house. Hope the realtor says it can be put up for sale soon---but probably not until Steve has finished the railing project---so he needs to get that finished. He needs to get that finished so he can go work on where you will be moving to, just in case your home sells quickly and you need to move.
Well, they couldn't find anything for sure at the school---but they cleaned the duct works, cleaned the carpets, replaced lots of ceiling tiles, sprayed the building with some kind of gas that destroys any mold spores, and did something in one of the bathrooms near the smell---said it was from there or from the pile of wood stored in the tech room---I seriously doubt it was the wood---it wasn't near the main smell area and it wasn't that much wood anyhow. I sure hope we don't smell anything when we return or there will be a lot of people hitting the ceiling if there is. I will be leaving to go to the funeral for part of the day no matter what is going on but plan on going back after attending.
Have a good Tuesday!

I've been trying to get here all day and now I'm heading to bed, but wanted to stop by and check in. I've read all, so am up to speed with you.

Steve got the call that his truck is fixed (he wasn't hurt at all in the accident--just tipped his trailer over). They want him to go to work tomorrow for another driver who needs a day off, and then he'll take his truck back to work on Wednesday and work until they finish this cleanup. I'll be glad for the paycheck, but hope they're done soon so he can work here.

I've asked the realtor to come back to do another assessment to see where we are and she'll be here tomorrow afternoon. I need to continue cleaning and clearing things away so it doesn't look cluttered. At least not as cluttered as it does now. And I won't have Steve here to help me. Fortunately, he had already been doing some cleaning up around his project sites and has his work area looking better. I don't know when I'll be able to get back here tomorrow. Probably not until late afternoon.

Take it slow Dianne. I know it feels good to be moving a little, but don't push yourself into a relapse.

Cathy, I hope there isn't any real damage to anyone's health from that AC system. I'm curious about the smell too--and what caused the original fire?

Anne, Betsy and Lindie--hello and goodnight~

Morning! I cancelled on the home again--still coughing too much to go and see them. I did a 10 minute exercise video--mostly just marching--but I need to get back into the groove, even if just a little bit. Did feel good to get the blood moving. I am supposed to go for dinner with the gals from DDs' HS--not sure yet if I will. Still on an antibiotic.

Sun is shining here--but in the low 40s. My daffodils, etc are popping up and the iris are starting to grow as well. They look good but I expect they will get snowed on in March.

Betsy--I hope you got some rest! Hubby is talking more about retiring--I think the last month--between skiing and then being sick--has given him the idea that he would like to stop working. The big issue is insurance since we aren't old enough for Medicare yet. Basic health care shouldn't be so $$ to get and for self employed, we need to come up with something affordable. If we can afford trillions for war, we should be able to afford healthcare.

Terri--is Steve's truck fixed? I hope he has been able to finish the railings. My DD1 may be driving through your next of the state--they are heading for Oregon, I think. No trailer--just them in the car.

Anne--always something! Hope the fence gets fixed okay and J doesn't overdo. While I do like to go out for dinner, I am getting fussier about food and do just as well cooking here. We have company coming on Friday so I need to decide on a recipe and get the ingredients.

Lindie--my brothers wore pretty standard sizes--thank goodness! Cousins needed the 30x29 but not my brothers. Too bad the watch doesn't link to Spark--oh, well.

Cathy--hope you have a quiet day and find out what is happening for tomorrow. Was it a chemical smell? Dead-somethiing smell? Burning smell?

Today is my brother's 60th birthday--he is a valet at a Vegas casino so runs back and forth getting cars--at least he gets his exercise.

Well, going to get my shower and then get some chores done--still having trouble focusing on stuff to do!

Hi all!
Cathy, hope you find something fun to do. Send pics whenever and I'll post them for you. Not a problem. What kind of phone did you get? I bet your gd is happy that you send emoji's, lol!

Lindie, I have to find J jeans 38/27 and they next to never found! Usually we get 38/30's and send them to tailor to hem. Neither J nor I want to try and hem them because of how thick the material is.

Dianne, I hope you are feeling better!

Betsy, did you get much accomplished yesterday or did you decide to just relax?

Terri, is the dump truck fixed? Has Steve been called back to work?

Hi everyone else!

Just to let you know, J and I were told the steak was really good. It was, but the size was rather small for the price. The chicken was good, too. I guess I just hyped it up in my head that it was going to be superb from all the scuttlebutt about the place. Again, I'm glad I went and will go back again if others want to go there. I just won't suggest it.

I was being lazy on the sofa this morning. I did not have a very good night's rest, so I opted to lie down until I really had to get moving. However, about 30 minutes prior to my intended time to get up my doorbell rang. It was the fence company. J had called them last week while he was sick and told them to come out and fix the posts that needed replacing. I was not expecting them today. So instead of going to the other church to get a box that I need information from and then open my church, I will be going directly to my church a little later than usual and then go to the other church after Mass. Oh well. I also have to go to the store for some supplies for Wednesday night's Discovering Christ session.
It is a goofy holiday here. No work for me at the rectory because it is Monday, but the rectory is also closed for the holiday. I do have to work at the gas station, but it is like a Saturday there with the mechanics heading out at noon. Therefore, I have to be there around 11:30. The good thing...I should be out by 1:30-2:00. Then I have to come home and get my tax paperwork together for next week's appointment.
J did go to work this morning. I hope he will listen to his body and come home if he is super fatigued. He has been feeling good, but tired. I have a feeling it will take him some time to feel "normal" again, between recuperating from the UTI and from the cold that is still lingering.
Frost on the car looks pretty thick...going to start her up so I don't have to scrape!
Have a good day!

Anne

Anne, I can go in 3 other rooms to watch Tv---LOL---but I do like the spare room best as I can sit in the rocker or on the bed comfortably, esp. to stretch out. In the bedroom it is just not comfortable to just sit on the bed propped up but occasionally I will go in there and set the sleep timer. I watch the tv by the computer a lot---I can get Netflick on that so have been watching all my British shows on there. I have finished watching all the episodes of Call the Midwife and now have started on the series Land Girls which I am finding interesting. Has Theresa had the surgery yet or is that soon. Glad Ashley is coping better now. Don't you know that is you go to a chicken place, the best food would be the chicken? LOL I almost never order steak---not that I dislike it, it's just not my favorite.
Dianne, I would like that place that has the turkey dinner year round---yum---and my mom would have been their best customer---LOL Don't try to rush into too much exercise right now---maybe try some videos at home where you can stop if it becomes too much. You really got nailed by whatever it was.
Betsy, hope you felt better later on. Usually changing the channel makes my Dh wake up---LOL---and I do play games or read if he is watching something I don't want to watch if I am comfy on the couch. It is a good thing we have off but figure we won't hear anything until late afternoon about school tomorrow. Why don't you all have off President's Day? Will your Dh be able to keep his health insurance when he retires? I will be able to but can't afford to keep Dh on it----that would be huge bucks. I am going to a 2 night thing on retirement in 2 weeks for the state retirement stuff---we are on the State plan for our pensions----it is kind of confusing because we also have 403 retirement stuff too. I am not really looking forward to it but might take something to play on if I get too bored----LOL
Lindie, if there is something very serious going on, guess then the parents could sue----as well as the staff since we had to be there for 2 and half days with that stuff circulating around us. No idea what is going on----hope to hear something at some point today. Bummer that the watch doesn't sync with Spark---kind of surprised they haven't linked with it since they link with everything else that comes along----LOL
NOthing planned for today---need to go out and get a prescription for Dh---so maybe we will do something today. I did text a lot yesterday with Ashlie and Reagann---and got pictures sent to Ashlie's phone so I should be able to send some to Anne when I go to the Flower Show and hopefully I can figure out how to put some on Spark myself from my phone. I did link my phone to my email but don't plan on posting normally from it but do enjoy sending emojis to my gd.
Happy President's Day! emoticon

Good afternoon everyone, wow !! We are half way through this month already ! It was suppose to be sunny today and the sun was out but now it has clouded over and I hope the sun will be back tomorrow.

Betsy, glad you are feeling better, and yes finding pants in 29/30 for my DS is hard to do infact I usually have to go to a 30/30 and of course since I am not a seamstress I won't hem or anything like that lol ! Glad the little ones are doing ok - the play went well - that DD2 has a new room mate situation - that you are relaxing before cleaning !

Dianne, I know how you feel it seemed like it took forever for me to get my energy back from the cold I had - just walking to safeway tired me and I barely made it home. On two trips, I took the bus and then walked home, something I do not normally do. I hope you find something entertaining to do to help pass the time, a short walk up and down the drive might help a bit too. That cough might take a while to go away. I hope it goes away fast for you, how are your parents doing ?

Terri, when you said what you did about my family knowing Gene bought me the Iwatch - I about fell on the floor cause you were spot on with that call ! Yes they certainly can be a petty bunch ... Interesting that you are chucking tax stuff from years ago, I hang on to mine cause they can audit up here at any time, for any year , course I do not have all my tax forms, some got lost or tossed during moves before I knew I should keep them all. Yes I am curious too, how many great grands now ? How is Steve doing, I hope there is no issues from that truck accident - sometimes it comes up later ...

Cathy, oh my goodness about that odour, I sure hope they get things straightened out, could parrents sue the school board for not acting sooner ? OH no to the mess on the floor and I hope you got it cleaned up ok, yes dawn is great for cutting grease ! I think you said you were off tomorrow too, its Family Day here tomorrow so its a Provincial holiday that most get off, but some do choose to work.

Anne, sorry the restaurant was not up to snuff for the food, but now you know and can never return lol - Good to hear the girls are healing and I am glad you have finally had time for you - even if it was just a short amount, it can still be refreshing. Do you have tomorrow off as well ?

Quiet week here, just doing spiritual activities with my congregation, and then cleaning at home, non stop - there's more dust bunnies then I can shake a stick at - I wish this street was not so busy !! My sister has strep throat and keeps asking me to go for a meal or coffee with her as she is bored, but NOPE not gonna happen I do NOT need that ! I do need to loose weight though as my knees are really starting to hurt when walking for some time. I need to go record my exercise as the Iwatch does not feed into Spark like Fitbit did... talk to you later ! Have a wonderful day tomorrow !

Dianne, we were posting at the same time, I just took a lot longer! I really do understand that rundown feeling mixed with cabin fever but hopefully, it won't be too much longer. If you add the strep throat to my sickness, I was really worn out for a month and a half but it did get better.
Yes, we have heard we could get up to eight inches of snow tomorrow. DH is hoping for an early release if that happens but I am doubtful.

Anne, it is so disappointing when you are looking forward to a nice meal and a restaurant and it isn't up to par. I completely agree about not being able to sleep after a heavy meal later at night. We still go out for dinner now and then but we prefer to go out for lunch on a weekend, partially for that reason. We only have one TV so I just keep the remote near me so when DH falls asleep, I can change it if needed. If he wants me to sit with him to watch something I am not interested in, I play word games on my phone or read.

Terri, hurray for baby time with Anna's little one! How old is she now? How many great grands will you have after the next two are born? Keeping a house showable is mind boggling to me but I am confident that you will do it well. I missed part of your post and thought DIL2 was a cleptomanic so I was relieved to see it was just a matter of sentimentality. Our DD1 tends that way as well but we may just let her clean out a closet or two soon to help us get above water. Good for you for having such great records for 40 years and for keeping them organized, the next owners will be appreciative.

Dianne, DH didn't call me on the day of the play, he sent an IM. We try to stay in touch that way at least once daily. Hang in there! I know you aren't getting better as quickly as you would like but I promise you it will happen.

Lindie, hope all is well up there.

Cathy, isn't it funny how 20 degrees is warm to me and cold to you? I completely understand how cold it is after having been in the fifties and I'm glad it didn't last too long for you. Don't you just hate it when you're away from home and can't get warm? Your school situation is scary, I hope they figure it out ASAP. What a blessing that tomorrow is a scheduled day off! We do not have a day off for Presidents Day but I think DD1 might. yes, Dh is happy that the play is over but he is really enjoying all the photos that families have posted and hearing words of praise from people we see when we are out. He's starting to talk about retiring at 64 ( next year) but I am trying to convince him to hold off until 65 so he can get Medicare. I will have to figure out something for four years, that is a downside of self employment. Going back to DH, the current administration may not be there in a year so time will tell. It would have been great if you and the rest of our team could have been at Panera yesterday.

I wound up with a bad headache last night and woke up with traces of it this morning so we really haven't accomplished anything but I hope to get a few things done after napping DH awakens. Did anyone get anything interesting for Valentine's Day? DH brought me a bouquet on the 13th and couldn't resist buying me a box of Fannie Mae mint chocolate meltaways on the 14th. It took a lot of will power but that box stayed tightly wrapped in cellophane and went straight into the chest freezer! I have a midpoint weigh in for the community weight race and I don't want to sabotage that.

He's awake, time to try to get this house in shape for our upcoming dinner party, at least a little bit...

Hello. I did get to church--even managed to sing with the choir. No fever, just run down. Not sure what I will do about the nursing home tomorrow--still coughing a lot. I need to find some motivation to do SOMETHING besides sleep! LOL Tomorrow is supposed to be dinner with the moms--not sure if I am going to go or not.

Anne--thanks for the update on Ashley. And Theresa. Hope they continue to heal.

Betsy--I hope you can get some more rest--I know it is helping me! Are you due for more snow?

Terri--too cold here to be working outside in just long sleeves--I wore my big winter coat today cause I was cold.

Cathy--I do hope the smell is gone--when do you expect to find out?

Anne--there is a place that just serves turkey--like Thanksgiving--all the time. We went there once long ago. I could do with a good home cooked something like that--but I have no interest in cooking yet.

Lindie--hope you are doing okay! And to our new person--welcome!

Cathy, glad you have the second room for tv viewing! I do the same during the day and time out the tv in the bedroom at night when he turns something I do not like. Since OSHA is involved i am reasonably sure you all will not be allowed back until the problem is figured out and resolved. Bummer about the grease spill!

Betsy, you are right, any progress is good progress! Hope you have some relaxation time today!

Dianne, Terri, & Lindie, Hope you had a good Saturday, either resting or doing something fun!

We went to dinner yesterday afternoon at Wright Chicken Farm. They serve roast chicken and steak only. We have heard a lot about the place for years. It was okay. I am not in a hurry to go back, but when/if we do, we will both get chicken. The steak was good, but not worth the price. Need to get ready for Mass. Meeting with the venue team to check out the place we plan to Have our fundraiser after Mass. No afternoon plans yet.

Have a blessed Sunday!

Dianne, this sure is lingering on---are you going to go back to the doctor this week if you don't feel better by Tuesday.? I hate when I can't stay warm when I am sick. Are you running a fever still?
Anne, no issues like this before the fire---and it kept getting worse---Monday was okay but by Tuesday it was really bad---one administrator almost passed out, another one got very sick and had to go home that day---that was the day we evacuated. Wednesday the smell seemed stronger and people started to feel bad---Thursday is was very, very bad and started traveling to areas it had not been on Wednesday. The principal wanted to send the kids home or evacuate again but all the bigwigs at the board were in some kind of negotiation meeting---staff members started to become really sick and leaving, kids were getting sick---so the principal called again and demanded that they interupt the meeting and someone had to talk with him---by the time they agreed something needed to be done it was almost 1---by the time they could get buses to us, it would be almost time to leave anyhow but the decision was made not to come in on Friday. I know I started to get a headache that afternoon but as soon as I walked out into the clean air at the bus ramp, it went away. I hope they figure it out this weekend but I know I don't want to go in unless the smell is gone---it was horrible. Glad all your activities are over and that you got to go to an early dinner and to bed.
Betsy, glad you had a semi-relaxing day on Saturday and hope not too busy today. Is your Dh glad the play is over or is he feeling a bit let down now? Wish I could have been at Panera!
I went thru a bunch of books someone had given me---decided a bunch of them were not ever going to be read by me and bagged them up for donation and cleaned that area up in the spare room. I spent a large portion of the day in there just relaxing and watching something different than what Dh was sleeping on in the living room----LOL---and last night I stretched out on the bed in there to watch Mamma Mia while he watched the Martian-----he seems to forget that I got thoroughly sick of watching it so many times that I really don't desire to watch it again for a long, long time.
I made a royal mess in the kitchen last night pouring off the grease from the meatloaf---it went all over the floor so I had to clean it up and then used multiple siffer floor mop cloths to clean the floor----I think today I will use some dawn and water to go over it again, then the swiffer cloths again just to make sure it is not slippery.
Have a nice Sunday!

Any progress is good, thanks for the update, Anne. I should be in bed but wanted to check in quickly. Tomorrow is slated for cleaning all day but I hope to get a break and catch up for the last couple of days. Today was a great day as I got to sleep late, do what was needed for the national consumer panel, and spend most of the afternoon at Panera with a friend. Mass, a quick stop at the grocery store and a stock up trip at Wal Mart were the activities for the evening. Frozen pizza and Netflix ended our day. We will have to be super productive tomorrow to make up for relaxing most of today but it was well worth it!

Have a super Sunday!

Oh, before I forget AGAIN! Ashley (Tom's wife) is getting around much better and the pain shows up when she's had her leg down too long and that seems to be decreasing, too! She still can not put weight on the foot. She sees her doctor again on 2/27. Theresa's knee seems to be better, as well. She is scheduled for her hip replacement on 2/27. Her MIL will be there to assist with her recovery. emoticon Please Dear God...let the girls heal well and no more issues for a while!!! emoticon

Hi all!
Pretty well caught up at work...both jobs and the 2 events that I'm involved with (Discovering Christ and this year's parish fundraiser). At home, though, I have only gotten my "piles" organized into filing, banking, paying, reading, and tax related lol! J has been very sick all week. Not a fun time! He finally started feeling better yesterday. He actually went to b-fast with me today. Needless to say, all week I felt pulled in way too many directions!

Dianne, I sure hope you start to feel much better soon and regain some energy! This has been one heck of a long haul to trying to get well! Guess you won't be seeing your friends at the home til the beginning of the week.

Cathy, what an awful ordeal! I sure hope they can figure out what is causing the odor and I hope it isn't toxic! Were there any issues prior to the fire in the ac unit? I wonder what caused the fire! I would have gone in yesterday, too...why waste a personal day! Sorry it wasn't as warm as you'd prefer in the church facility. Were there others that were cold? Yay to getting the ticket to the flower show!

Terri, glad you were able to get through your filing cabinet and that you now have some important papers in an area that is quick to access, plus knowing where they are again! Did Steve have any bruising or side effects from the accident? Glad he went home instead of continuing to work! Yay to having "baby" time! Yes, definitely get the stuff you don't want anyone to toss out on you packed up and labelled...that is, if you are not using it, lol! Hope Steve got all the material he needs to finish up that job...it is pretty intense and he is doing awesome!

Betsy, glad your DH got some positive recognition this year about the play. Sorry he got so anxious about the kids being sick and how wonderful that the back ups could step in and do a great job! It is really too bad that K's friend has turned out to be such a rotten roommate! Are they still friends? Hope the weekend helps everyone get better and that you will have your kiddies back feeling well! I also hope your temps warm up and soon!

Lindie, yay to getting your old user name back! Yes, Gene will need a few pairs of cargo pants! Are you having fun with the watch. My daughter loves hers. I'm not so sure I would. I get annoyed with my phone, never mind something even smaller that does a lot of what the phone does...between lousy eyesight and fat fingers, lol!

Going to finish up here at the gas station and head home. J asked me out to dinner tonight...I think I may ask him to go for an early one and go to Mass tomorrow. I am tired. It's been a long week and I want to go to bed at a normal hour without a heavy tummy!

Have a great rest of your Saturday!

Anne

Hello, all.. I am still under the weather--ears are plugged up. I slept 10+ hours last night--feel like I could again! I am toasty and warm in bed--not so warm anywhere else. So I may go lay down again.

Cathy--the fonase is supposed to help with the inflammation so I am trying it. We'll see. Glad you have the 3 day weekend for them to figure out what is going on at the school. What a mess!

Terri--glad you are making headway and glad you had the kids--just fun to visit with them. Guess Rosie didn't mind sharing the grands?

Betsy, glad he was able to make it thru that last day of the play---too bad about those kids being sick but glad they were able to improvise and others stepped up for the parts. I know you are glad that is done so that he can come home at regular times. Thankfully it is not as cold here as there but it is 20 right now--and just the day before it was in the 50's at this same time---so we are really feeling the difference. Thankfully I wore something warm to the location we were moved to but I wasn't really warm all day long.
Anne, glad you are still alive!
Dianne, hope the flonase helps but it is made more for allergies and not so much to open up your nose from that sickness. You might want to use Afrin but only once a day---maybe at night when you want to sleep. That is the one you have to be careful with. How is your dh feeling? The people at the home will enjoy the Valentine' treat whenever you get there.
Terri, wow, 2 posts! LOL How nice that you got to hold the baby without too much competition except for Steve. I know you enjoyed that visit. Hope they still pay Steve for the whole week---they are lucky he was not hurt but I am sure he was glad to not drive it after that. I hope he doesn't have to go back to work just yet. Sounds like he made good progress in getting the spindles ready for the next part of the railing. Too funny about Dianne coming to help clean---LOL---and not wanting that one DIL to not come clean because everything would disappear----but maybe you should pack up those items that you want to keep and have her come over to clean those rooms. I know when we knew we would be moving I started going thru the things I wanted to keep and boxing them up----once I had so many I took them to Matthew's spare room----but it also make me mindful that some of that stuff just needed to be gone, too. Those were items we didn't use frequently. Will you have a space to store all your canning stuff at the new place? Nice that you got to see the other grands, too. We actually went and took Reagann all her llama stuff I had gotten for her for Valentine's day, then we went to Arby's for dinner.
It was a long day at the church---just sat around and chatted with others---did get up and moved around some. They brought us in doughnuts, then there was a popcorn machine, sodas, and pizzas for lunch. The teachers that were there did do work but the IAs mostly had nothing to do. We got updates on the school--they had the whole venting ducts cleaned and some thing else done---but still the smell is there---they were drilling holes in walls and the floor to try and figure out where it is coming from---when we left we still had no idea what the issue is but the health department and OSCHA is now involved. We still don't know if we will be back on Tuesday but as long as the smell is there, the Principal says we will not be back---too many are sick---the nurse was busy documenting any symptoms we felt to add to the data being compiled---feel sorry for her on this one. If we go back on Tuesday, it might just be staff to make sure the building is ready, then the kids would come back----if it is going to be longer they are going to have to decide if the kids get split between the 2 other middle schools or something else. I am glad I don't have to figure that stuff out.
Not sure what I will do today---maybe more in the spare room. Glad it is a 3 day weekend!

I knew that, Dianne! That's why I added a belly laugh. We'd spend the whole time visiting and my house would be none the cleaner. I told my DIL2 that I needed her to move in for about 3 weeks, but I'd have to collect everything I want to keep first because she'd toss it all. She agreed that it was true. She is very minimalist in her style and it's clean and easy, but she's not sentimental about anything she's going to have to dust! LOL

Well, I've made it through the 3rd drawer in the filing cabinet and have purged old warranties and operating manuals for appliances we no longer have, rental agreements for the canyon house, twenty-five years of tax returns (from 1982), some more of the kids' school things (report cards, SAT records and homeschool writing journals), and I have one more drawer to go. There are 4 fat files of water rights records, correspondences and receipts that I will give to the neighbor who has agreed to take them over for us. She can go through them and purge or keep for historical purposes whatever she wants. They go back to 1980.

I also found our original loan papers for when we borrowed the money to buy the logs for this house, the building permit and plot maps for this property, the energy calculations from the engineer we had to hire to calculate the R-factor (for insulation) provided by the logs, the distance a specific diameter of log could span, etc. Those will come in handy as we continue to build with logs on the ranch. The plot map also shows the schematic for the underground power and gas, and that will be something that might be important to the new owners when we sell. It feels great to know what's in that cabinet now and to be able to put my hands on it without much digging. It's taken me all day, though.

***back after a break***

We kept the ranch grands for a few hours tonight while Adam and Sarah went out for dinner at a local restaurant. She's been passing kidney stones all week and didn't feel like going all the way to the coast, but did want to get out of the house for a while. So they brought 4 kids and a couple of pizzas and we had a nice visit. Steve played chess with them and beat the 3 boys neatly, but then almost lost to Clara after she took his queen! He wasn't paying attention. The kids loved Kora and played with her until it was time to eat and we had to tell her to lay down so she'd leave them alone for a while. They just left and now our house is quiet again. Time to relax with my Valentine for a while.

Morning! Happy Valentine's Day to all. I slept in again--guess I really still need the sleep. We are going out for lunch after DH gets his bloodwork done. He has a heart test next Friday (supposed to be Wed but the flu made that go away).

Cathy--glad you won't be in the building today. Hope they figure it out. Stay warm.

Terri--no, I am not the one to help clean! LOL Enjoy that baby! And yes, redwood isn't cheap but it lasts and lasts and lasts!

Betsy--hope you are keeping warm enough. -28 at my brother's place. I am glad the play is over for this year! What were you supposed to do to help your DH? Why call you? LOL

Anne and Lindie--hope you are keeping warm and dry.

I finally tried the flonase stuff--that may help! I hate that kind of thing but was desperate. My hearing is going and this headcold has made it worse. I do hope to get to the home this weekend--to give out my little valentines.

Anna came over for a late breakfast this morning and brought the baby. I finally got to have her to myself and actually hold her. It's the first time since Jenny's boutique! We just don't see them very often.

Steve has been working on the railing and just about has all the slats cut, but had to go to the coast to buy some more redwood today. That stuff is expensive! I'm not happy about the wrecked dump truck, but am glad he's had a long weekend at home to work on this--and that he was here today to visit with Anna and hold the baby. They'll call him when the truck is ready to go back to work, but since they didn't call today he likely won't go back until Monday IF they're still working on it. It was originally only supposed to take a week and he's missed that by now.

I got my kitchen and dining room cleaned this morning and all the counters cleared off and the floors mopped. With the realtor coming and the possibility of showing the house soon, I need to attack the cleaning with a vengeance and stay on top of it. Want to come and help, Dianne? Baa-hahahahaa!

Cathy, you're right, your school should not have been open yesterday. I hope the fluid around the heart of your teacher isn't anything serious. It sounds like you will have a fun day working at the church. There's no need for apologizing about my three for the summer, I am very happy with that number. The plan is to take three weeks off in July again, starting on the 6th. DH's school had their valentine parties yesterday morning and they got to see the play in the afternoon. DH messaged me frantically because two of his five Mulans were out sick but in the end, two of the others took over and did beautifully. An IA worked with them all morning to get them ready. The narrators are the other huge parts and he had to send one of them home sick as well, poor girl was white as a ghost but wanted to do the play so she came to school. Dh sent her home and another narrator took her part as well. Speaking of illness, I woke to a text that Nellie started vomiting at 1:30 AM so she won't be here today, I hope nobody else catches the bug. That is the last thing her mother needs in her final days of pregnancy!

Dianne, I don't know how long it has been since I saw the 150's but it's been a while and I was thrilled to see them this morning as well!

Happy Valentine's Day! emoticon

Dianne, I am glad you are taking it easy. Glad you hit that magic number---let's just hope it was from all the exercise and the flu just helped a bit. Plus sick food isn't really that bad calorie wise. Yuck to that cough!
Well, the air quality was getting worse and worse yesterday---at least 12 staff members went home sick, including my teacher---she threw up and had a bloody nose---she went to the doctor and he said lung infection and fluid around the heart, probably due to some bacteria---they are running tests. It was getting so bad that they finally had to do something---so the kids have off and the staff has to report to a local church. What we will do is beyond me? I did ask if IA's had to come in---we usually have off when the kids are off----but unless we want to use a personal day, we have to report----so I am taking tablet and a book to occupy myself. I am betting we have very few staff that will come in today but I only have one personal day left and I want to save it. The church is actually about 5 minutes away from my house so it isn't that bad. I know another IA is coming in that I am friends with so we will be together. I might take in a card game, too.
