Hi, I took lots of notes today while Mia napped and Kathryn played outside with Cooper. the plan was to post tonight but that got sidetracked after DD2 hit a dog with her car. She feels terrible but it wasn't her fault because the dog darted out in front of her. It turns out it is a foster dog and it will need to be sedated to have stitches in a paw. DD2 told the people she would pay for it but we said she would not because it wasn't her fault. She told them she would help a little. I asked her what she thought a little was and hse said $200! Do you see why I worry about this girl so much?!?! I need sleep now but I have tomorrow afternoon off so I can post then.

Have a fantastic Friday!

Morning, all! Woke to rain and now gray skies and wind. We are going to get Cathy's rain tonight--and high winds all day. I need another sunny day to keep the blues at bay.

Anne--the DUH made me laugh!! Okay--I'll post on Sunday. I do wish I could sing with the daughters in person. We sound pretty good--Momma sings tenor. Will you get this rain, too? How is granddaughter? And the two that had all the issues in Jan?

Lindie--is there any nutritional guidance for MS? He may need more protein. I do hope he tells his work about the MS. But good to let him see how he is doing. Not surprised you couldn't find an exercise ball. Everyone is working out at home--weights are hard to come by!

Betsy--my friend just became a grandma but the baby is on the west coast and she is here so won't see her till this is over. It is killing her but a 2 week quarantine is too hard to do out there when you only have 2 weeks for vacation. Glad you are enjoying the baby. Hopefully without issues from everyone else!

Cathy--I did all my running yesterday. Our senior hours are 6 to 7 AM and I just can't do that. I have no underlying health conditions and hope I can fight it off when I get it. So I go when I want. The chicken was good--I ate some of the dark meat for lunch and then we had breast meat for dinner. I have at least one more meal from that chicken.

Terri--glad Steve has gotten some warning on the job starting. I expect he is busy trying to get enough done to take off again. Will one of the DS also be working it as before? And how is Paul (?) who had the surgery? Glad you found where an old friend was living--they can use all the socialization they can get right now.

Amy--I'll have to go to your blog to see the photos!

I did 2 workouts this AM--a pyramid one for 10 minutes and a strength, cardio, core one for 55. I need my shower!

Good morning, I tried multiple times to post last night but the darn phone just wouldn't load the site. Mia is going to be here in two minutes so I can't post much now either. If I get lucky, the babies will sleep at the same time while DH is at school and I can catch up then. If not, i will try again tonight. I will say it was delightful to hold a nine week old yesterday!

Anne, glad you got that meeting out of your mind and hope you slept even better last night than the night before. Never fun when something like that is looming on your mind. Were you late to work yesterday? I woke up this morning at 7:19 and had to not stay in as I needed to swipe in shortly after that time so I wouldn't be late---LOL
Dianne, glad you were able to go in---that was definitely a doctor that could not check by phone. Sorry it wasn't just the wax. At least that is not something that is going on me unless you count when I choose not to hear---LOL I would love to have a rotisserie chicken but senior hours are so early they don't have anything like that available.
Lindie, I am not surprised that you didn't find the ball either place. Did you find what you needed at Walmart. Good practice for Gene which shows he is definitely not ready to go back. Amy did a blog and it has a picture of her green wall and her shelving that was put up above her new desk. You mentioned those blood clots and I wonder if it is because people are on the ventilator and not having the leg pressure things put on---bet there is a shortage of them, and no time for anyone to come in and be bending and moving those legs for those patients. I know my mom had that done when she was on a ventilator after her heart surgery plus the pressure cuffs that inflate and deflate to keep the blood flowing.
Terri, maybe you could do the linseed oil while Steve is gone and you stay at the little apartment that evening while it seeps in. Does the smell linger very long? Hope you get those presents sent off. Tomorrow is the first of May---I just had to check that---LOL I hope Steve can get things done before that far job starts up again. Hope he has good weather to do all he needs to do.
We had lovely weather yesterday---I spent the afternoon on the back deck and read. Had a lovely chat with our next door neighbor when she went out to take some trash up front. I did take 2 short walks yesterday in the house and was okay with that. I think I hurt my ankle a bit but wore support stockings on it and I was okay--no problems with it last night when I went to bed like the night before.
I do have a team meeting to attend today for work ---just hope the weather is not horrid then and we don't lose power when it happens. We are supposed to have strong winds and rain today---right now though the sun is shining but by noon it won't be.
Just a reminder that I will start a new chat tomorrow since it is May 1st . It's Thursday!

Dianne, "Duh!". Of course we want you to provide the link! Hope the audiologist can see you soon.

Lindie, great idea to practice run Gene! Sorry the exercise ball was not at the store. Hope you can get one at a decent price and without a shipping delay.

Terri hope you get some good seeing done. It is so annoying to not be able to complete a task because you can not reach people to answer a question! Hope your email gets a fast response.

Betsy, how is daycare going...lots of help still?

Cathy, did you relax today?

Amy, love to see pictures of your paint work!

Had a good first Zoom meeting for Discovering Christ tonight. It went well. Very tired now...I was quite stressed about it, but I should sleep better know that I have done it successfully. More tomorrow.

Have a blessed night sleep!

Anne

Well, I got all my phone calls made and then had to hang around the house to wait for some of them to get back to me, but I'm done for the day. I still have my sewing machine and other things in the apartment, so am going to spend some time down there today until Steve gets home from work. He thinks the out-of-town job will start in about 3 weeks, so is under the gun to get things buttoned up.

One of my calls was to the county Environmental Health Dept. to see about the septic system and what permits are required, etc. I actually ended up having to send an email for that one because they are working from home in that office a lot of the time. At least I've got the ball rolling.

I found out that an old friend from our former church has been living in a Sr. Living Home for a couple of years. I thought she'd gone to live with her granddaughter, so was surprised to learn that she's on the coast. I can't go and see her until the restrictions are lifted, but will send her a card now that I know where she is. I have some gifts to send to my youngest 2 daughters whose birthdays are in May. I'll send them early to cheer them up while we're still Sheltering in Place--so tomorrow will be a trip to the post office.

Amy, I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures of your room.

Cathy, I'm like Lindie and fear falling more than anything these days. (I can handle spiders, though) I'm so glad you weren't seriously hurt! It's the B vitamins that give you the bright yellow urine, not the C.

Lindie, that was very good of you to do a mock work run with Gene! It's probably the best way for HIM to see how his leg will hold up (without any input from his sisters) and then he can come to his own conclusions. Nice to just inquire about what he had eaten, just to get him to think about it. All of this is new and he doesn't like it, so it's good if he has a chance to let the information "percolate" and sink in.

Yes, I told you the garden was huge! I know I won't be using every square foot of it, but hope to cover about half this year--IF I can ever see the rest of that fence up! I have some potatoes that I could plant, and some other root vegetables that the deer wouldn't bother any time soon, but I'm not putting anything out there that they will like until it's protected.

We're putting a covering of linseed oil on the logs that are showing on the inside of the house. It's a treatment for the bores that like to attack them and we just need to wipe it on with a sponge and then go over it again with an oil-based stain to seal it in. That stuff smells strong! We've only done the laundry room and the play room downstairs, but not the rooms we are living in most of the time. When we do those, we're going to have to open windows and turn on the fans, so I want to make sure the weather is warm. At least it's something I can do to help.

Time to get up and get some down to the apartment before Steve gets home or I won't get it done. Wow--two days in a row for me.

Dianne, glad you were able to see someone I am still waiting for my appointment with the specialist - now I will follow up - just waiting to see what restrictions will be released next month.

Gene and I did a walmart run - yes Cathy increasing your shares LOL - and it was also an exercise in mock work run - to see if he is ready to go back to work. His work requires him to drive to point a to point b and back to point a and then walk walk walk - well by the time we finished Walmart and while at Canadian Tire looking for a balance ball - his leg gave out 3 x - said it was lack of energy. So rather then poohoo that, I asked him what he ate for breakfast - he said 2 instant packages of oatmeal. I advised he is not eating enough and since we left at lunch - he was most likely hungry too. So good for him to notate - we will do more mock runs as we get closer to his going back to work, he needs to recognise his limitations - can only do that by imitating what he does at work. So now I will plan the next surprise mockj run ... lol

I had to order the balance ball online, no one has any in thes stores !! Chicken is in the oven and the timer just sounded, I can smell the spices cooking ... very familiar smell lol

Saw the ENT doctor--he removed a little wax from each ear but that wasn't enough to account for the hearing loss. So--appointment with the audiologist next month when they are back. As long as I was out and about, I hit the sotre and got for Bob as well--dropped that off. I got a rotisserie chicken for us to have tonight--got 4 meals from the last one.

We are doing 4 parts on one more hymn--got DD3 involved so I am doing the tenor this week! If people want, I will post it again.

Good morning friends, its not so nice a day so far, very grey out - but I will be busy and have to go get some food staples today, most likely will go to walmart for that as they dont' have the 2 item limit like safeway does - not that I need a ton of things but I also want to see if they have balance balls there too - course I have a pump for another device that might work but I still need to get the pin out ! AND I know there is a spare pin as well. Gene has been doing some exercises that his sister recommended so I have been watching him try to do these things. He has not talked about going back to work but his sick benefits are good till next week then he has to figure out - I think he thought his treatment would start by now but most likely not at this time as the restrictions are not relaxed yet. The numbers are going up instead of down but I expected that after the long weekend - people are now relaxing restrictions on their own, but those covid-19 toes in children and other complications in adults like stroke and blood clots are scarey and enough for me to not be in a group even family ! I was looking to see if I could order online but most places are super busy and wont' recommend what the deliver date would be. SO walmart it is ...

Cathy I am so sorry you fell, my biggest fear next to spiders is falling - I hope the results of the fall heal up quickly and glad you did not do more damage to your knee ! I know of another hand cream that I have at home, I use on my other body parts and its fantastic, Aveeno Active Naturals - Daily moisturizing lotion, come scent free I need to pick up another big bottle so I don't run out - and I use it in between the other cream that I use mostly at night. I hope you can find a good book or movie series to relax with today.

Dianne, glad you got the marking done and you enjoyed doing that, will there be more opportunity to do that in the near future ? Yea we wont' be meeting in our halls yet either - depending on provincial relaxation of the restrictions. I remember using sub way bags when my foot was wrapped for showering, taped up of course but those other bags would work great too - and the baggies as well - have to put some in my sister's car and Gene's too but I do carry hand sanitizer and Gene ususally wears gloves.

Terri, good to hear from you and thanks for explaining the buildings - I think you will be very happy there with the fruit orchards and the garden bigger then life that you can share ! Good that you have your own meat source as well ! Busy you will be !! Oh yea I wanted to comment that you are right about grains and most people who have serious forms of arthritice also avoid grains as the glutten in it acts like a "glue" and causes inflamation to worsen, so that might be why you are seeing a difference when you eliminate grains. Of course Doctors will not tell you about this, there is no money in food source cures ....

Amy good to hear from you and glad you have been busy. It will be nice to see your congregation from a distance. I had a visit from an Elder and his wife the other day, she dropped off home made granola for me and it was so uplifting just to see the smile on their face, we did air hugs LOL So practice your best air hug and hopefully folks watch their social distancing. This virus is not one to take chances on at all ! That Green you mentioned for the wall, I am thinking iether forrest green, or army green - my daughter's favourite colour is green - dark green, she does not do pastels LOL

Anne, hope you had a great day today, I too slept better last night and perhaps the exercises are working after all. There are still two I need to master but I will get here eventually. I can even bring my leg up on my knee now when sitting to do that exercise, and I had to use a sock to bring it up before. Guess I better work on the other leg, or I might wind up walking funnier then I do ! How is the car? The kids? The Fathers?

Betsy, I sure hope day care is going well for you and you do not get too used to having help lol How are your family(s) coping ?

Ok time for breakfast - its in the pan waiting for me to "wrap it up" so I best "wrap this up " LOL

Morning! Good to get a long post from Terri and I missed Amy's yesterday so glad for that update. We won't be having services together soon--and so many of those first ones will need to be memorial services--I feel so sad for those families.

Terri--that garden area is huge! Good that it is fenced--I am already losing things to groundhogs and deer--just hostas but still! Someone asked who won--we sent on the Victoria Woodhull and the WASPs but there are runoff judges so not sure what will go to nationals.

Amy--that one wall sounds cool--you can do a strong color that way. Talked to my DD1 while she was doing her 15 mile run on Monday--nice to chat with her but it was windy so hard to hear.

Cathy--OUCH to the fall! I do hope your face heals fast and with no marks. Good for getting the sanding done. We will have rain till Sunday, I think. I did get outside for a nice long walk yesterday but not today.

Anne--glad you are doing okay! Lindie--you, too! And Betsy--hope the day went well--you get the baby today, right?

I will exercise and then I have an appointment to get my ears checked to see if there is any medical reason for my hearing loss. I think not but--we'll verify. Next step--just how bad is my hearing loss and then what to fix them. I don't like not being able to hear. Groceries today--I have the long sleeves that newspapers come in and often grab them for my hands but mostly--wash, wash, wash really well when I get home. (I also go the car/steering wheel/door handles.)

Anne, could they figure out what was wrong with your car? Which reminds me, did J get a new vehicle? If not, this might be the time to get a good deal on it since he knows what he wants. Hope you slept better last night and have more energy today. I probably could use another shot in the knee but it's only really bad for a couple of days after it tries to go the wrong way. So far my hips are holding up but sure I will need one before too long---just hoping when they get to that stage that I can go into the office to get them.
Lindie, boy, those masks were expensive but then they are helping out the aquarium---It would have been cheaper to just donate to them----LOL Our zoo had a baby bear born this winter and they just announced yesterday with a short video with the daddy bear tearing open a box to show what sex it is---the box was blue inside so it's a boy---that's how we found out, too. It was a cute way to do that. Yes, a lot of buffering if the family is using the internet at the same time---It is occasionally happening when we watch a movie on Disney---figure that is when a whole lot of people are using it.
Amy, hope you can have your service. We would love to be able to go inside---our church attendance is small enough that we can easily social distance----actually, we always spread out quite a bit so we do that normally, but it will be hard not to hug or do fellowship time. I figure if one is afraid, one would stay home and not go. But for right now, just seeing others in person means a great deal to all of us. Yes, would love to see what you have accomplished in your redecorating. I sanded the back step railings yesterday in prep for staining---if it ever warms up enough and no chance of rain on that day---which means not this week---LOL
Betsy, glad he had a nice birthday dinner and lots of phone calls.
Dianne, interesting topics that you got to read about. Which one won? Having the chance for the drive thru communion elements is your pastor's way of seeing some of his parishoners in person. So maybe you should go do that just to say Hi in person. It must feel really strange for a pastor not to have contact with his people. Were you talking to your friend the whole walk? Sounds like you had decent weather yesterday, too. I was going to suggest that your girls along with Betsy's dd to get some cheap sandwich bags---the kind you fold over, to keep in the car to use at the gas pumps---that would work to keep hands safe. I use them to grease my cake pans and they do work fine for that.
Terri, yes you will be doing a lot of gardening all summer---but that is good. Hope you grow so much that you can help out the food banks in your area. We would love to see a better picture of this cabin as that one has me worried---LOL I wasn't sure if it is the B part or the vitamin C that makes the pee so yellow. I do know I wasn't bothered by anything yesterday but I did have a light jacket on when outside.
Well, I did get that back deck edges all sanded and sanded off the black markings of letters and numbers from the store. But I had to go down to the area where the deck and the new one are to get to some, and on my way back out I caught my foot on a step Dh had moved to a new spot and did a header onto the old deck. I really face planted myself and was so afraid that i had broken my glasses---I didn't---thank God,--but I did slam them so hard into the ridge of my nose that the skin was broken open and put a nice egg on my forehead over my right eye. Mr. Jackie was there mowing our lawn---thankfully---as I was trying to figure out how I was going to get up from the low deck, even with Howard's help. He got behind me and Howard in the front to help pull me up and up I came. My shoulder was a bit sore and also my face but seems like my knee did not suffer any more damage---think the knee brace cushioned the fall for that. I did take ibuprofen and that seems to have helped the shoulder and I am not sore like I thought I would be. The forehead is still tender and my glasses could use a readjustment but no place is open for that that I know of so I will just have to keep pushing them up a bit more often.
I also got the top of my fridge and the freezer cleaned yesterday before I went outside. We ordered our dinner from the local place that has a meatloaf special on Tuesday so I didn't have to cook either. But I did bake a cake for Dh yesterday.
Today is going be a nice day until early evening---so I hope to at least go sit out on the deck---not sure if I will do much---according to how I feel. Almost time to swipe in---it is Wednesday--I really had to think about what day it was this morning! LOL

Good morning! I slept like log from about 10 pm to 5 am! Much needed! I did go back to bed for a bit, then had my coffee and emails. Just read all the chat, but have to hit the shower and it is already 6:30! Guess who will be late for work, lol!

Happy Wednesday!

Cathy, I had to go back and look at the pictures of the cabin to see what you were talking about. Yes, it's the angle. The roof does look like it's falling in from that photo; but in fact, there is a gable in front, over the porch--facing east-- and gables on the north and south ends, over the kitchen and bedroom. You can't see the west side from the photo but it has one, too. It definitely needs work, but isn't falling down. I wanted to say that I know the B-complex does work to repel mosquitoes and also fleas on dogs. I've taken vitamins for years to help keep my blood strong for donating, among other things. I've always tended to be a little anemic. I can be outside and everyone else is being eaten alive but the mosquitoes rarely bite me. We got a supplement for our dogs once that was said to repel fleas and it had a large dose of one of the B vitamins. I don't remember which one it is, so the complex is the best way to go--and yes, you will notice a very bright yellow color when you use the bathroom. I'm sure a mask would help you with the pollen and you wouldn't look strange at all these days, since we're all wearing masks!

Anne, I may want you to send J out to help me keep up with this Ginormous garden once I get things into the ground and they start growing! There will be room to mow between the rows and Sarah has the riding mower, so she'll take care of the grassy areas. We'll be getting more weed cloth to put down around the plantings so the grass doesn't come up and choke things, and I hope to be able to find more wood chips and sawdust to mulch with. I know it will be more than I can preserve, but I'll be sending some to Jenny on the coast and Adam's family is right there, so they will be eating from it. I'm sure we'll share with some neighbors and if I get too far behind, I'll take a basket to the rescue mission. I did that one year when I planted lots of "cucumbers" so I could make pickles and they turned out to be zucchini instead! I took a laundry basket full of zucchini to the Mission a couple of times and they were so happy to get it. I was equally happy to get rid of it and not just have to feed it to the chickens! I didn't get any pickles made that year.

Lindie, I think you're doing a good job of staying out of Gene's business while still being a good mom. He doesn't need everyone telling him what to do all the time, but someone who will listen and just offer some suggestions. He has to make his own decisions and if he feels pecked to death, he's going to resist and be resentful. He's looking at a life-changing condition and I'm sure he has a lot to process and men don't generally handle emotions and stress the way women do. I haven't read all the chat yet, but hope you found the pump for your ball. In the photos, the car is parked beside the cabin. The other structure is the pool shed where we keep the pool supplies and the pool filter is in there. So, between that shed and the cabin is the swimming pool--right under that huge tree! You can barely see the greenhouse. I'll try to get some better photos soon.

Dianne, I'm glad you were able to judge the History Day event again! Good for the organizers to use technology so the students were able to participate virtually. Our 4H kids are not going to be able to take their animals to the fair for Showmanship and Market events, and they won't get to auction their animals off, but many of them are already lining up buyers so they will still be able to do their projects to get credit for raising an animal and be able to recoup their expenses by selling to local people. The community is extremely supportive of 4H and FFA kids. I think Adam's kids will raise pigs again, as they are set up for it and it will be the simplest project for the family. Paul's kids are raising pigs and sheep. Someone posted on the FB Bulletin Board page for our community that folks might want to consider buying their meat from these kids who have raised them locally, and the response was quick and very enthusiastic. I'm sorry you still haven't found those flowers! I hope you find them in time to plant them!

How are things going with the kids, Betsy? I second everyone else's hope that you are back in the pink and not overdoing things. I might have to look into ordering some of that hand cream after reading Lindie's review. It sounds like something I would like and my hands take a beating during the garden season. I'm never really very nice to them the rest of the year, either. Too bad the cream only softens and doesn't take away the wrinkles though. Of course, if it DID do all of that, we'd be ordering it in 55 gallon drums, wouldn't we? I liked your made up word for my garden! Vegetableful--that's what I hope it will be, too. That will be my sole occupation and you'll all get sick of hearing about it.

Betsy, I like to wear the surgical gloves when I pull weeds in the garden so I always have a box of them around. I just put the box in my car now and put on a pair of gloves when I'm going into a store where I know I'll be pushing a cart. Then I remove them and put them into a trash can on my way out. I have wipes and hand sanitizer in the car as well, and use it on my hands and the door handle and steering wheel when I get back into the car. It's a little overkill, but that's okay for now. You can get a box of 100 gloves for about $10, I think. It's been a while since I bought a box, so they may have gone up now with all the demand. When I drove Paul to SF, we noticed that the gas station we stopped at had an attendant with a cart. She went from pump to pump and sanitized it after each customer left. I thought that was impressive. The hotel we stayed at had staff sanitizing all the hand rails as we were leaving after checkout. I don't know how many times a day they did that, but it was nice to see. You don't have to wash the cloth mask after each store you enter. Just wash it when you get home. The cloth masks aren't to protect you from inhaling the virus, but are to protect the public from you, in case you have it and don't know it. They will help if someone in the room coughed or sneezed, but they aren't fine enough to filter out the virus--only the droplets that carry it. My masks are lined with 2 layers of non-woven interfacing and I'm told that those layers increase it's filtering efficacy considerably; however, they still aren't medical grade.

I love sweet potatoes, but am going back to a very low-carb meal plan to see if it will make the bathroom scale happy. I've gained back most of the weight I had lost when I had my gallbladder removed, and the months after. When the weather got cold, I started baking and that was that. Not all at once, of course--but over the winter. I've been off everything with grain in it for about 4 days and noticed today that my knees don't hurt as much as they have been. Remember when I was wondering about that? Now I'm wondering again and will pay attention to see if and when they hurt and what I've been eating at that time. I've done corned beef in a pot on the stove, in the crockpot and in the turkey roaster in the oven and we like it all. I put all the carrots and potatoes in right at the start and let them all cook together. Then I cut the cabbage into wedges and simmer in the broth after we take everything else out of the pot. It cooks while we slice the meat. Betsy, do you add any liquid when you bake yours?

Amy, I know exactly what you mean about wanting to hug everyone you've been locked away from! I would too! That makes another reason to be thankful for where we live. I can hug my kids and grands all I want because they've been living in the same bubble as me.

It took me a few hours, but I just read Betsy's short note and am now caught up. Steve went to bed an hour ago and my eyelids are heavy. Tomorrow is another busy day. He is driving truck again and I need to make some phone calls and see if I can get some things lined up. I'll check in when I can.

DH had a good birthday filled with many phone calls, two from our children so I was able to talk to them as well. I will try to catch up tomorrow night.

Lindie—sorry the exercises are giving you some fits! Keep at them, though! You want to be able to walk and move around. Glad you enjoyed the music. These are old familiar hymns to us. I am still looking for the calla lilies—I’ll plant them whenever I find them!

Anne—the history papers were on Victoria Woodhull, D-Day, the Fair Labor Act of 1938, the Miranda Rights, Minority Representation in Law, the WASPs in WWII and the Flying University of Poland. All were interesting. I have one thing to finish with the judging. I spent a good 3 hours prepping and then our meeting was 30 hours and then another hour + to do the submissions. It was fun to look at/think about something “normal”. Sorry about the sewing machine—that is a pain. I have already been told that we will have one service with the praise band doing part of it.

Betsy—we told the girls to keep plastic bags in their car to be able to use that on the handles. We are getting grilling weather—did on Sunday and we will grill again today. I am glad your first day back was a good one. Yeah for naps! Have a marvelous birthday for hubby!

Cathy—I did get out for a walk today—called the wife of my friend who passed last April and it was a nice chat—gave me my 7K steps! I hope you got at the cupboards. We will have a drive through time on Sunday to pick up communion elements for May 10. I will likely forego that—I have bread and juice at home. I hope that the “wherever two or more are gathered” includes cyberspace!

Terri—I expect you are busy busy! And Amy, if you are redecorating, that will take you away from us!

I did yoga this AM and then got out in the sunshine for a good long walk. Had to go buy buns for the hamburgers hubby wanted. Keeping busy enough!

Hello ladies!! Just popping in quick to say Hello! I have been trying to continue to workout. I am also still working.
I did a Morning Meltdown 100 workout yesterday, and ran 5 miles today.
I saw a duck in the middle of an intersection today! It was so weird. He didn't even move when a car drove by, so I chased him out of the road. I was worried he would get hurt.
We painted an accent wall in our living room on Sunday, a beautiful, rich green, and hubby put shelves up in my office on Saturday. We are def doing the quarantine life lol!
I'll have to post a blog or something about all that has been going on so you can see photos too.
I hope you are all well. Iowa is slowly starting to reopen, praise the Lord and our church is going to try to have services this Sunday. I am hoping the board approves it. We will have to limit how many people and we will live stream it to some in the basement and others can watch upstairs. It will be weird but it will be better than just being at home. I will find it SO HARD not to hug everyone! I have missed them so much!

Good morning friends, I did order masks from the Aquarium - 4 of them at 19.99 each plus tax and 9.00 to ship, since they sold over 1 million, I may have to wait for them. I will take a picture when I get them. I have not ordered the ball yet - my next physio appt is on Friday. If their balls are as expensive as their fees, I will go to best buy or walmart.

Anne, we have that issue with zoom with people freezing, its their internet connection, not the program - so maybe that was the issue with the web seminar. I hear you about no sleep, woke up at 3 this morning, then 4 then got up. my left hip could not take anymore time in bed - but I did sleep better, so the exercises might be working after all and I never took an advill either ! Funny how you thought of AAA after your boss agreed to go in LOL Hope your day at the rectory goes well and you pick up energy and not just burn it ! All our places of worship are closed. Each province will decide how and when to open the places of worship, slowly and carefully so we don't go back to square one on this, so New Brunswick will allow parking lot services but the cars have to be parked 2 meters apart all the way around ... I have not heard what BC will be doing but they are still talking about groups of 10 or less - its about the spread of the virus and keeping our elders safe...

Cathy it is good to hear that your Minister got permission for the parkinglot service. He thoroughly understands Romans 13:1 - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. That kept you and your congregation safe! I agree with you about the price of the virtual visit, it turned out to be their standard price and I am not too happy but I will only do 2 visits a month as it takes forever to get the 85% back from Sunlife ONCE they take THEIR fee to do so ... and I doubt they would pay me back for a balance ball. I must admit though the exercises seem to be working. How is your knee, do you need another shot ? Can you get that through emerg ? Has your state relaxed some of the restrictions ? I did see a news piece on your Gevernor but forgot to listen to it as it was not a read item. I usually only do read items except the replay for the Prime Minister's address to Canadians, he has done one for almost every day since this hit Canada. He always ends with Do your duty, STAY HOME. AND on Saturdays he addresses the children in his conference too - French and English. I am doing laundry, time to go switch it over and not step on the cat LOL

Cathy, the webinar was poor quality, as well as tough information being presented. The Archdiocese is suggesting the merger option in order to help make ends meet at different parishes. The parishes will reach out to their parishioners. They do not plan on picking parishes to merge...at least not at this time nor from the information that was stated in the meeting. That part of the information was a downer, but the nay-saying predictions about the economy (which I am aware is there) just was a double downer. Our pastor did reach out to the Archdiocese about having parking lot services and was told no, so we have FaceTime services daily. Our state doesn't require pumpers, our station just had them because we are not set up to be a self-serve...believe you me, if the Dad could have made it self-serve he would have, but the building location interferes with that possibility. Glad you checked the time and signed in ok! Hope your knee cooperates more today! Is it time for another shot?

Betsy, I have baked corned beef once before and it was fine. I have been washing my mask by hand and hanging it to dry...I wanted it to not lose shape, lol! That ad was definitely using stereotyping in it! Glad your DH got a kick out of it, though. We enjoy sweet potato fries, too. Now I want some, lol! It was good to have help to get back into the swing of things and that 4 hour nap was pretty sweet!

I never made it to work yesterday afternoon. I couldn't get my car started and I wasn't walking in the rain and cold. Instead I called my boss and asked her if she could go in for me. She was willing and I was happy to stay home. The car started right up for J this morning. We think it was wet wiring because it wanted to start but just didn't have enough umpf to start. I tried a few times, but didn't want to kill the battery. They are checking it for me now. Funny thing, I didn't think about AAA til after my boss said she would work.

I did not sleep well last night...had trouble falling asleep...awake until 2:00. I am paying for it now...sure would love to go back to bed, but nope, have to keep on trekking! I am hoping the car isn't an issue, though because I am feeling too tired not to walk the short distance to the rectory. At least it is warmer and not raining today, so if I have to it won't be that bad. Going to finish up here at the station, find out what's up with the car, and then head to the rectory.

Happy Tuesday!

Anne

I saw on Amy's status that she has been busy redecorating her office area with paint, etc so guess that is why she hasn't been on.
Anne, how horrible! I have had to watch some things that have nothing to do with me and kind of find it tough to hear some things being said but at least the quality was not horrid. What a downer---tell the Fathers that they can listen to them and tell you anything you think would be pertinent to your job---LOL Sounds like they are secretly trying to close some diocese without imput from parishoners---that always comes back and bites them in the end as they lose a lot of people that way. Do you think this will cause less people to come to the church services because they have fallen out of the routine of going to a mass? I kind of hope this will make more people come out to services once we reopen because this has made us realize how much we need the social interaction that it provides---plus the scripture Do not forsake the gathering together.... Don't remember if it was you or Dianne, who mentioned it, but I think our pastor called the authorities and got permission to have our drive in services----we are a small church so the parking lot is not full. Sorry about your sewing machine---it does sound like a belt. Bet Terri could diagnose it from all the way in California--LOL
Dianne, sorry about the ground hog and the deer. Sorry, but the only way to get rid of that ground hog is to shoot it. Even if you captured it and took it off, it will just create a problem somewhere else or might even find its way back. Did you learn anything new from the papers the kids submitted. Monticello website is hosting some interesting talks at 1 today and Wednesday about gardening topics and Thursday at 2 is a children centered one---might suggest that to your practice grand.
Lindie, too bad you had to order another ball. I have one in my closet that I could blow up again but no place to really put it and worry about the cats deciding it would be a good scratching item. I really cannot believe they can charge you that much for a virtual visit---that is ridiculous when they never put a hand on you. Glad you like that cream but I know I would not use it because it is scented. I knew you meant the petals of the tree---we have one of those trees a few houses down and it looks like pink snow under it, too.
Betsy, good thing you mentioned the timer as I went and set it after I read that and good thing I did as it went off as I was typing so I am officially now at work. Glad the first day went well and hope that 4 hour nap did not make it tough on the parents last night. Yes, I meant the cooking---sorry! Anne's station doesn't have gloves as they have boys that pump the gas. It's the law in her state. Congrats to the newly engaged couple. I hope they wait to make wedding plans until things are a bit more stable.
I did get that upper cabinet cleaned and I cleaned out the fridge---only found one science project in there---LOL But that was about all I could do---I tried walking and the knee said no way! But I did finish a book and started another. Dh took apart his puzzle and started another---I was busy reading so I didn't help get it started this time. I am hoping the knee will allow at least one short walk today---I tried a different brace I found but it really didn't work too well so I will go back to one I know will support it. Trying to decide if I start cleaning the outsides of the cabinets---that will require me to go up and down the step stool to reach the tops of the cabinets. Dh helped me yesterday and that made a big difference but cleaning them just means I need to do one, come down, more the stool, go up again---way too many times going up and down so that might wait a another day.
Have a good Tuesday!

Anne, I sure hope you had a perfect day at the gas station, you needed it. emoticon I am sorry your sewing machine broke and the webinar was so awful. Earlier you wished Terri a fruitful garden and I wanted to add wishes for a "vegetableful" garden, sorry, couldn't resist.
DH has to take the drops at least until his next appointment on May 19. We boiled the corned beef for years but discovered a baking recipe last year that we like better so we use that now. It's really easy too so that's a bonus. DD2 went to fill her gas tank yesterday and found no gloves at the pump ( as DH has found ) so she went in to ask for a pair and they told her she didn't need them but begrudgingly got her some. What do you do at your station? More and more stores are requiring masks and you really are not supposed to reuse them without washing first so we need to get some more as well.

Dianne, boiling the masks is a good idea, I have just been tossing mine into the wash machine. I promise I feel 100 % healthy or I would not be working. DD1 will do fine in virtual grad school but she will still miss the classroom situation. Good luck judging all your papers, I miss doing that. I used to judge for the Epilepsy Foundation.

Terri, if you and Steve believe you need a bigger septic tank, I am sure you do. It's always something but you are lucky to have a Prince who can do it all! The days of the week clock is awesome, thanks for posting.

A brief interruption. DH was laughing so hard I had to ask what was so funny on the TV. He said the as was thanking all teachers for the hard work they are doing under difficult circumstances and then added, "To all teachers, "Happy Mother's Day!" emoticon

Terri, don't you eat sweet potatoes? DH doesn't but I love them, especially sweet potato fries with salt. I once ordered them in a restaurant ( remember when we could do that?) and they came coated with cinnamon sugar, not at all what I want with a burger. Grilled pork sounds scrumptious but we won't have grilling weather for a while. Your garden is huge! It would be wonderful to have all the fresh produce you grow and since you share so nicely, I am sure your children/grands will continue the tradition. I only had Mia and Cooper today but the baby Reid cuddles will come eventually.

Cathy, we have had flour on our shelves all along but we have not had yeast. You asked if DH would take turns with me now that I am working again but you didn't specify what you meant. I am going to guess cooking. I will still do most of it as I will be finished earlier but he will help as needed. What would we do without alarms? You use them to clock in and I use them to monitor DH's eye drops. I hope your knee is feeling better.

Lindie, neither of the babes cried when their mothers left but one did have to be distracted so her mother could sneak out. The US is also stating 12- 18 months to perfect a vaccine, it's going to be a long haul but we can do it! Are you planning to buy a whole new stability ball or just a pump? If you are getting a ball, be sure to ask your therapist a reputable place and exactly which ball to get. I know from experience because I ordered the wrong size myself. The children love it so I kept it as a toy. I have worn my top inside out for an entire day without noticing but it is usually under a sweatshirt so nobody noticed. If you aren't going anywhere, I say leave it that way if it feels good. Your exercises sound just like some I have done over the years. Wow, a 30 pack of TP, I haven't seen that since early March!

It was a wonderful first day. Mia took a four hour nap and DD2 helped so it was quite easy, I am going to get spoiled!

We got great news yesterday, our nephew is engaged to a wonderful girl we all like. It will be interesting to see how far out they plan the wedding. Will we be able to attend or will it be a quiet ceremony?

I need to finish supper and see what I can prep ahead of time for the birthday tomorrow. Have a terrific Tuesday! Yes, I am aware it is Monday but most of you won't read this until tomorrow.

Lindie, glad you can buy some washable cloth masks. I presume the Aquarium will get some funding from the sales. I figured the pink snow was from the trees. We have a bunch of white petals all over from the neighbor's dogwood. Glad you found something similar to the ball you have. Hope it comes soon. That app sounds good...I like that you can indicate your pain level along with indicating you completed the exercises.

Dianne, thank you for sharing the songs. I was familiar with them. What topics are the History papers covering? Glad your COVID numbers are slowing. Hope they will drop faster! How many patients in Bob's nursing facility have it, do you know? Prayers that he does not get it!

So I attempted to sew a mask for a friend. Got the material all set up. Stitched the inside with the spacing for the filter and got 1/2 of the front of the mask stitched together when I broke my sewing machine. The needle won't go up and down, but the turn wheel turns. I am wondering if a belt broke inside. I couldn't figure out how to open the machine, so I will have to ask Julian. There's so much straight stitching left to do on the mask I don't think I really want to hand stitch...but who knows.

After cleaning up my sewing mess, I popped onto the webinar that Fr. J asked the staff to attend. It was awful! Actually, awful doesn't begin to describe it. I hope my Discovering Christ Zoom meeting on Wednesday night doesn't act like this "gotomeeting.com" behaved! The sound wasn't with the voices and it was distorted or staticky. And to make matters worse, it was mostly about parishes merging to get through the expected recession and/or depression that is expected. Talk about a Debbie Downer meeting! If my Zoom meeting behaves like that meeting did, I am going to bail!!!! Someone else will have to run it or we will have to wait until we can all meeting again!

Going to clean up from lunch and head to the gas station. Sure hope things there are okay! I definitely need a pick me up after the last 1.5 hours of my life!

Anne

Well done Dianne, heard both songs and you singing this time, the organ did not drowned you out. Very nice to have the words up to follow along. We do that as well but we have orchestra that does the music and keep us in tune. All our songs are based on scripture - I can recognise the scriptures now from the studying I have been doing of the bible. It is lovely to be able to sing as part of worship.

Good morning everyone, now that I have my top not inside out, I feel I can come here and post LOL yes I had it inside out for about 3 hours before i noticed. I did 3 of my exercises this morning, the ones that are fun to do and left the harder ones till later - the one I am really having trouble with is bringing my knees to my chest comfortably but I can't do both - one or the other so we might have to adjust that one. The others I will need maybe a towel instead of the band, and I can still do the bike, that should help. These are virtual, through an app on my phone so I get to see the video and then the instructions, I just hit complete and mark the pain level when I am done. The next physio appointment is Wed at 1 pm virtual of course. Still waiting to see if Dr Henry, our health doctor for the province will open up some services, it might be delayed now because of the food processing places that had high levels of covid-19 - it brought our numbers way up but also a learning curb as they powers to be decide how to regulate this stuff. Obviously, some people put a higher priority on wages, job, bills then on human life, and that is their choice. I will stay home and wear a mask if I need, but so far so good.

Dianne, I will check out the link after I post - oh no to the ground hog - how to get rid of it ? I hope your plant is safe - Glad you can get on the floor, I can not put any pressure on my knees, so that rules that out. I can get back up some what with the balance ball, but its not pretty, nor is it strain free .... I hope you find those lillies - will it be too late to plant them? Or did you plant them somewhere else and forgot ?

Anne, I put the pump somewhere and forget where LOL same with the catch to pull the pin out - well I looked at balls ontine and I can get a similar one from bestBuy for about the same price and want it to be burst and weight proof lol I do get to see the physio person, he actually is the owner fo the business as he had to close so when he suggested a move, I suggested he read my file and what was on file including xrays that they had pictures of. I think he thought I was a new patient, which is understandable as he did not see me before. Anyway, all worked out and we will adjust exercises as needed based on stress. I saw that article on the parkinglot church(es) and they had that issue in Ontairo as well but they took pictures of the license plates and will talk to the lawyers and what not to find out what legal action to take. Basically, although there is social distancing maybe in a car - the first instruction is "to stay home", they did not deem church services as essential - it will be up to the powers that be to determine penalty if any. For my part I will stay home, I have no car anyway LOL We are allowed small groups of 10 but no more - with masks on ... this virus is horrible, they know so little about it, I am not taking chances but will order some cloth masks that can be washed from the Vancouver Aquarium.

Cathy rain rain rain, we have similar weather, I like it cause its cooler out, but its grey and dreary so good time to read book(s), watch movies, and dream about a better time ! What do you have planed for today besides swipe in / out in/ out/ in out lol What B complex did you get, don't you take a multi-vitamin that might give that to you ? And your welcome for adding to your shares, I am sure I will be doing more of that LOL - actually it was Gene's shopping - he went in for 1 item but I kept putting things in the basket that I knew we needed including a pack of 30 rolls of tp - now to work on the paper towels, that's next and coffee. lol

Terri, loved the pictures and thanks for showing, now is the cabin where the car was parked in the one picture ? Or was it on the other side of the garden shed thingy - sorry the word slipped my mind. I was able to enlarge the pictures some what so got a better look then the clock I thought was something else LOL Hope your run to the coast is uneventful and you get all you need in one run. I am sure the kids are getting antcy about their grads and things, however, better safe then sorrow - here they are doing that virtual - not sure about scholar ships and that - the government has given money aside for students to get jobs in areas that need workers rather then foreign workers and to help with tuition. Billions of dollars goingout, BUT its taxable ...

The pink snow was from the blossoms of the cherry trees shedding - its usually a big thing in Japan, but not this year. People can't go there to see it. So our little streets lined with those trees become the pink snow show ... the trees out side my apt are slowly growing their leaves, so nice and green and the pollen, well, I will live with it.

Betsy, have a wonderful first day back to work !! By the way, I got some of that hand cream, balm called Aseop Ressurection, and I LOVE it - it cost me 39.00 to order if from Norstroms but they shipped right away ( bought 2 ) and half way through one. I use it mostly at night and a couple of times during the say. I find the scent really pleasant and not over powering. My hands are soft - still wrinkled, but soft LOL So far its the best one I have tried.

Ok time to get things done ... have a wonderful Monday everyone !!

Morning! We have rain and cold but I did a cardio and core workout for over 40 folks--and I am sweating and warm right now! I am working so I can keep getting down on the floor and back up--although I don't do it as fast as the instructors did today on the video! I do hope some day to have grands to play with!

www.facebook.com/mumcnj/vide
os/5781394
26169836/
This is the link to our service yesterday--the 2 hymns we did are at 18:50 and 1:04:00--about! I don't want you to have to attend the full service to hear us. Terri--DD2 sang with us on the 2nd hymn--alto part. My mom liked it and I let our adopted grandma know because In the Garden is one of her favorites and she enjoyed it as well.

Terri--glad the garden is going and you had plants to share. I am fighting with a big groundhog who lives under the deck--had to move a plant that he was eating -- set it in a chair where I hope he can't reach. And the deer found my hostas.

Lindie--good for you to deescalate the argument. I love the tree flowers--we have one street that is lined with the Bradford plums and it is so pretty. I hope you can meet with the therapist soon.

Anne--I keep a mask in my purse--and wash it in boiling water when I get home. The gloves I don't wear--I do figure that washing my hands is sufficient--and I can't really touch my face with the mask on. I have some Darth Vader/Star Wars fabric--if I get more interfacing, I will make some more for the kids cause they will be around for awhile. I also have Cinderella fabric--I think DD1 wanted that at one time.

Betsy--I hope all goes well today! I do hope you are back to 100%. I don't know what will be normal--I expect your DD1 will finish her degree in a virtual classroom and for grad school, that is fine. For undergrads--well, some may decide not to go to college so maybe more of the trades will find workers.

Cathy--my iris are blooming on the south side of the house and all budded everywhere else! I will pick a few to enjoy inside. Still no calla lilies and I even have seeds that I harvested from the flowers -- ARG!

Amy--I saw that numbers were going up in Iowa--I hope you are fine. So far, I don't know anyone who has been sick or passed from this--but our numbers are slowing but still high.

I have more judging to do--the kids submitted photos and their papers. I need to do the next 5 and then meet with the other judge by phone to decide on the 2 winners and fill out the papers for the rest. Interesting papers!

Cathy, I bet the chance of rain did keep people away. Did you hear about the congregation that was doing that and the police broke it up and sent everyone home? My brother told me about it, but he couldn't remember where it was and when. That was pretty crumby! People in their cars are living together...most likely and the cars can be parked far enough from each other for social distancing...very weird! Hope your knee feels better!

Terri, your dinner sounds delicious...so don't fret about the pork instead of the beef, lol! Thanks for the pictures. That's one big garden! J would be jealous. May it be very fruitful for you! Nice that you had so many extra plantings that you could share! I would expect that you need a minimum of a 1500 gallon septic tank for the log house. You are lucky that Steve can has the equipment and can do that type of work...it would be a very, very expensive job if he didn't! I hadn't thought about practicing for your sports scholarships to keep up your capabilities. That is tough! Loved the clock!

Lindie, any chance Gene gave pump away with the bike? Uggghhh! I hate those bands! They pinch too much, lol! Did the Doctor send you links of how to do the exercises so that you are not doing them incorrectly and possibly making things worse. A physical therapist came to pick up her car last Friday and told me they are doing a lot of online PT, but will see certain patients. I am presuming the pink snow was from all the pink petals off the Japanese Cherry trees. Or did you get pink snow...possibly stained by the Japanese Cherry trees? You are smart to tell the others that you are not going to be the go between with their thoughts and telling Gene. No sense in creating drama at your apartment!

Betsy, congrats on being all set and ready for this morning! I hope you have an awesome day! It will be nice for you to have wee little ones again! Wow, menu's for 2 weeks! You are awesome! How much longer does your DH have to have the drops? How often does he need them? I actually love chicken pot pies from KFC and Willow Tree frozen ones. I have even made my own turkey pot pies when I had too much turkey leftover. We did not have them too often when growing up, so I guess that helps, lol! Will you cook the corned beef in a crockpot or boil it on the stove? I do the latter, adding vegetables at their appropriate times. Mmmmmm!

Dianne, how did the judging go? I am sure it was very different than being in person. How did the singing come out during your service?

I helped J with his paperwork, then took a nice hot bath. I am having trouble getting in and out of the tub...no flexibility any more, lol! Someone asked if I wear a mask. I have my mask and gloves on almost every time I go into the church, always when I am at the stores, and any time I wait on customers at the gas station. I do not wear it at home. A friend called me last night asking where she could obtain cloth masks. I'm reaching out to my daughter to see if she has any left that she could send me one or two. Since my friend is in her late 70's (or older) I want her to have at least one cloth one. If my daughter doesn't have one, I will give my friend mine.

Going to work on some Discovering Christ things.

Have a good day!

Dianne, funny that you mentioned flour as they just had on the news that a lot of people are doing lots of baking and that now flour and yeast are hard to find in the stores. Remember that I had a hard time finding sugar before I made Reagann's fudge--I found it at Big Lots. If you really want it, you should try stores like that to see if they have it. The tree pollen is all over our cars and I would love to be able to clean my front porch but I need to wait until this darn pollen is lower. I should probably wear a mask when I clean that area as I think my biggest allergy is tree pollen. And it started really early this year with the warm February weather. I think it was warmer in February than it has been in April.. I want to get outside and do things but it is just too wet out there and more rain forecasted all week.
Betsy, I got the b-complex that also has vitamin C in it--it's what I found---but one warning---your pee will be very yellow---LOL But we already had some mosquitos when it was warm and they didn't bother me. Hope you do okay with the reopening today. I am sure the kids will be just thrilled to be out of their houses again. Will you and Dh take turns with you being back to work or will he take over all of them? I, too, like the select a size, because sometimes we need more than one regular size but not really 2 for the cats' mess.
Lindie, sounds like a nice time until the fighting began---and honestly, you did the right thing in walking away instead of staying there---better than to stay and then explode as it escalates--and they should show better respect for you and for others around them and not say those kind of things in a store. Hope you are enjoying the Crown. Thanks for adding to my shares. LOL
Terri, you are so right--I need that kind of clock and so do you! LOL Interesting pictures. Maybe it is the angle of the cabin but it sure looks like it is falling apart or about to. That is going to be one huge garden. Hope you are able to find all that you need on your grocery run. It really is nice for Steve to enlarge the septic system for the future owners. Having lived where the septic is not right, that is a true blessing. You do have quite the crop of veggies growing at home. You need to take a picture of all those plants for us, too. LOL
I started watching a new series on Netflick yesterday---I think Hart to Heart but not sure.---it was pretty good and it wasn't based in England this time but the South. LOL We had a nice drive in service but a few less people --maybe because there was a chance of rain. It was overcast but the rain had stopped for us before it was time for the service.
Knee went out on me yesterday so I will need to pamper it---guess I will go back to the knee brace for a few days.. This is getting old..
I have set the stove alarm to remind me to clock in for the day and it is almost time for that. It is, afterall, Monday.

You girls are making me hungry for steak now! We had grilled pork loin tonight--pan grilled. I baked a sweet potato for Steve and opened a jar of my canned mustard greens & ham for me and made a small salad for each of us.

Lindie, the thing I posted is a clock with the days of the week on it instead of hours. I thought it was funny since Cathy now tells us what day it is, so we won't lose a day like I did before. Here are a couple of photos of my garden area from different angles. You should be able to see the greenhouse and what will be our cabin in the background. I am below the garden, outside the new fence, looking back toward the cabin and pool area in this one.

This one shows the two rows of berries we have planted. Red raspberries, boysenberries and blueberries.

I meant to get a closer picture of the greenhouse and the shelves Steve built, but didn't get around to it right away, and then I forgot.

Amy, I hope all is well with you and your family.

Lindie, I hope you are able to do enough PT exercises to help you. It's getting where I have a hard time doing things on the floor too. I can't work on my knees at all and sometimes it's hard to get up off the floor and I need to have something to hold onto. My knees don't want to bend as well as they should.

Congratulations on reopening, Betsy. I hope your first days go very well and all the littles remember the rules and that you get plenty of cuddles with baby Reid.

Mary Beth sent me a message today to ask if I had any extra tomato plants for her and, of course, I told her I have plenty. She's going to have her very first garden this year and hopes to do some canning later. I gave her 6 tomatoes and 6 bell peppers to get her started. Then DIL1 came over to get some, too. She took a dozen tomato plants and about that many of assorted peppers. She'll make salsa with hers, so she needed the jalepenos and cayennes. You'd think my table would look much emptier, but they barely made a dent. I will still have plenty to trade if Jennifer has another variety to share.

The realtor doesn't know about the issue we had with the septic line, but she'd probably agree that it will be good to upgrade it and make sure we have an oversized tank. This house has 6 bedrooms, and that's how they determine the size tank you need. We still have to have the pest inspector come back and treat the outside of the house for the wood bores he found. That can happen any time now, I think. I just need to set it up.

I have to go to the coast for groceries tomorrow, so may not be around. It's going to be a busy week for us, but I'll check in when I can and will TRY to keep up with all the chat.

Betsy, yes I am familiar with that and participate as well. JW.org is free, no adds, no membership needed and all is free. They have what I consider excellent videos for children called Be Jehovah's Friend that teaches bible principles at age appropriate levels, I actually enjoy watching those myself. I am glad the daycare is ready to or almost ready to go and you will be back to your kind of normal in the daycare this week.

Terri, that's a log of work for that septic tank - but for the selling value of the house, well worth it, I would think. Did the real estate agent suggest any of this, if not it might be a bonus to do anyway. What was that you posted, I am not familiar with it. Quiet Sundays are nice, its not nice enough to really go outside so staying in today and relaxing. It is unfortunate for those kids that count on those scholarships, it really is a bit of a trade off, chance getting sick and play the sport, or hold off a year and pick it up next year - they say for Canada it will take a year to get back to normal until a proven vaccine is in place and that testing is ongoing now and it should take the time it needs to be aware of any long term affect on a body. I also see they are not convinced that once you have this virus, you wont' get it again. They know so little about this virus and it did jump from animal to human, but when and how we just don't know ...

I can't find the balance ball pump, or the pin catch to pull the pin out to fill it up, I can use it but it needs to be filled. I may have to order a new one .... and some bands too, my yellow one snapped !

Anne, I have a niece and a nephew who went to University on sports scholarships, and a cousin's dd who is currently at University on a softball scholarship. How are the kids supposed to be scouted for scholarships if they aren't playing their sports? Academic scholarships may or may not be as affected.

We're having a slow, restful Sunday but plan to get some more work done around the log house today. Steve's new project is to upgrade the septic system. I wasn't sure it was necessary, but he says it is and he's almost got it all dug up. I need to call the county tomorrow and make sure of what we need before we proceed, in order to make sure it's all done properly. It will be important for selling. He thinks we need a bigger tank for the number of bedrooms we have and he's probably right.

Cathy, we don't have all the posts in because of the tree that needed to come down. He dug the holes for the wooden posts and gate posts, but didn't concrete them yet. We have those 50' apart with metal T-posts every 10' between them. I thought we might go out today and do some more, but he got busy here. He'll be driving truck next week, so we really should go out this afternoon, even if it's only for a couple of hours. Here's a photo I took off of FB for you. I think it's just what we need~

Dianne, we were posting at the same time so I missed you earlier. Those strokes in the younger population are terrifying, Bells Palsy was bad enough in my older DH. It was 60 here yesterday as well and it is supposed to be nice again today. DH is sleeping in a chair on the porch right now soaking it in while he can because our forecast is for a lot of rain for several days. The children are ready to come back and see me and the parents are excited to have them come as well! It will be much easier for them to work from home without a toddler underfoot. The items I haven't found in the store are yeast and molasses. We can live without them, I will just have to wait to make the recipes I wanted to try.

Anne, I love the Select-a-Size paper towels for precisely the reason you mentioned, little hands don't need a big sheet! Thanks for the B vitamin reminder from Cathy, I meant to mention we should try that as well, especially DH since he'll be in the woods so much.

Lindie, I think I just received a virtual Jehova's Witness call. The man was very friendly and wants me to check out the jw.org website, are you familiar with that? They certainly can't go door to door right now so they must be using the phone book instead. We are listed as we still have a landline since cell reception in our house is awful, regardless of what type of phone or service you have. Pink snow would be pretty! I can honestly say I have never seen natural pink snow, only pink snow the children have painted. Are you doing physio virtually? You need to get some exercises for getting off the floor so you can do the ones on the floor. Are you just starting season one of The Crown or the newest season? I need to watch the new season but have to wait until DH isn't around so that will be a while. His sleeping patterns have changed drastically since he doesn't have to go to school now. I am glad I could give you a laugh over my disdain for pot pies. We could afford to eat well but my mother just didn't cook. We got Swanson, Banquet, Oscar Mayer, Skippy, Chef Boyardee, etc It's a wonder I learned how to cook!

Load one needs folding and loads two and three are washing and drying. The dishwasher is going, the menu is set until May 10 and now it is time for me to wake DH so he can put in his second set of drops for the day.

I returned at 2:40 PM to proclaim the day care is cleaned and ready to go! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning friends, its a some what cloudy day today, we did not get any rain yesterday but we did have wind and we had pink snow where the Japanese Cherry trees were - people were out in droves taking pictures of it ! Alice had to be careful not to run anyone over LOL - Its been a busy couple of days - On Friday I had my physio appointment - he beleives its a nerve issue and gave me 6 exercises to do - some on the floor some not - well I don't do floors and the one on the balance ball and chair were the easiest to do - I tried them all but not the reps he said. I have another appointment Wednesday and we will talk about what is not working. Getting on the floor and getting up is a problem - the sofabed and my bed are too soft - but I have one more I can try and I might pull it out today to see if it will work. On saturday Gene and I went with my sister to New West - she likes to go for "rides' and then to Walmart ( increased Cathy's shares LOL ) and in walmart a dispute arose and I did not take the way I was spoken to very well and stomped out of the store, certainly no fruitage of the spirit was evident and I felt bad ab out that = but for me not for the other person, again , no fruitage, I will have to work on patience, and not react to unkind words, or take things unkindly -anyway -we talked about moist talking - when Gene was talking to his Aunt, he inadvertantly spit on her hoodie and he recognized why he should have been wearing a mask, this he saw, no telling what we dont' see. On Saturdeay I went to my sister's we stopped for fish and chips and then went back to her house and watched the first two episodes of The Crown - that will be our saturday afternoon for the series - we will get lunch and then watch it. We also had another heated "discussion" about Gene's health and I finally told her to "tell Gene" not me because I am not involved that way in his health care - that got dropped right away. EVeryone is concerned but not for the right reasons. Then his sister lectured him about going out with his aunt on long drives and that he should stay home. Then she asked him to go pick up the take out food from ONlok - a chinese place, so I asked him last night, isn't that a double standard? Not to go out with your aunt, but you can go do this and that for her and your neice ? Oh such a family !!

Betsy, I chuckled at your swanson meat pies yuk - we have some in the freezer, we hardly had them growing up as we were very poor too - my mother's favourite friend was the can opener, so if it came in a can we got it ... there are some foods I won't eat either, porrage, and chicken and dumplings - I would rather starve ... good thing ouir freezer is full ! Glad the daycare is opening, at least you will have some form of normalcy as best you can.

Dianne, I am sure the singing was just fine - we sing as a congregation, some in tune some out of tune. Once in a while when we have gatherings, we will have a talent kind of show for the young ones to sing and then the adults sing, once I heard an opera singer sing one of our songs at a gathering, it was so beautiful - her husband accompanied her on the piano - what a treat ! We all have to be very careful these days, this is the new normal that is being defined, we will never get back to what we had -its not possible until a vaccine is developed and that can be some time. Keep doing what you are doing and enjoy the two events you are participating in.

Cathy I do not wear a mask out unless I am in a crowd - I carry one in my purse with me - as much as I dislike them, I dislike the coronna virus more and do not want to get it as I am in thaqt age group that is particularly affected. It's nice to get out once in a while - but every day out is not the norm today. How was your food, I hope your service was good !

Terri, fire season is here early, already had a fire in Squamish that burned a few hecters and houses - it was a hit and miss - I know you are a responsible burner LOL I look forward to seeing pictures of the ranch ! It would be nice for some folks to get back to work, but unfortunately, that will have to happen in stages - is the stimulous cheque taxable ? The PM here gave out billions of dollars but has done so slowly, and anyone receiving wage replacement CERB - has to pay taxes on it, its not a hand out, its a hand up -they do not expect certain places to open and there are concerns about the industries - a chicken processing plant had to close both its sites as the workers went to work sick and yup, coronna virus - those employees went to work sick because they needed the money and did not want to loose their job - they are considered essential service - same with a meat packing plant in Alberta, so this virus knows no boundaries - its scary too. our numbers in BC were doing so well till the food processing plant and now there is a break out in a hospital in North Vancouver, our numbers are drastically up.... no opening here for a while, but they may open up elective surgery and perhaps dentistry to start... that will include physio, but that also might be on hold now because of the increase - while they want people to be honourable and stay home when sick, or sniffles, or even possible allergies, they are not abiding, obviously. HOw does one do things so people can work and not catch this virus ! I am so glad you and your family are not in the thick of this, and I hope your family on the coast are doing ok. Keep those masks handy !

Anne, I did steak last night too but it was not grilled - it was pan fried in avacodo oil - that oil tends to take a higher heat then other oils without the oil burning smell - I like it as I am now tasting more of the foods natural flavours - sorry your steak was tough ... do you wear a mask when you go out ?

Oh Dianne I ment to tell you, the Vancouver Aquarium partnered with the Vancouver Whjite Caps to provide and sell masks at 20.00 a piece to raise money for the Aquarium to stay open, they actually wanted the governments to bail them out as they like other industries are loosing billions of dollars right now - but really there is no money tree - it all comes from taxes, its not pulled out of thin air - I might buy a couple of masks but right now physio will be taking a lot of money at 95.00 a visit !

Amy hope all is well with you and yours !

Time to go have to finish breakfast and I am sure I forgot something - oh well, must not have been important ! LOL

Betsy, we prefer the Select-A-Size paper towels...the roll lasts so much longer! Good idea about cutting the piece in half again for little things, like those little hands! Sadly, it does make sense about the colleges not opening...at least for dorm use and in room classes. Maybe some of the students will take online classes to start, then move to the dorms/in room aspect of college when things safely open up.

Dianne, our trees are budding like crazy, too. However, the cars are not totally green-yellow covered yet. I say, "Shame on China!" for not opening up and being truthful about the situation long before they did. If they had, more scientists could have been working on a vaccine and ways to treat. I also think that we (the U.S.) should have gone into lockdown mode much sooner. I hope the online experience of History Day goes well. I'm sure some of it was hard for those involved, especially if they were doing any reenactment type work...6' social distancing may not work well in those instances.

Cathy, I think the local residents in the resort areas are right to be concerned about people from high risk areas coming in and infecting them, especially since this virus has a 14 or so day incubation period. At the same time, I do understand the people in those high risk areas wanting to get away from the risk. Catch 22, I guess! I think our collaborative website manager is posting the Masses on our website after they are done on Facebook Live. That's an interesting piece of information about the B-complex and mosquitos. I will have to try it, too!

Need to help J with some of his work paperwork. Have a Blessed Sunday!

Anne

Cathy, I already have one load in the washer and will continue laundry throughout the day. I have been washing big quilts so they each take up one load, time consuming but necessary.
Sorry you didn't get your pot pies for supper last night. My mother fed us those frequently when we were younger, the Swanson frozen variety, and if I never see one again, it will be fine with me. We broke down and got curbside pickup last night so that was a treat. The parents will do the temperature checks at home and I trust them completely to be honest with me. My hands will survive, I will just have to be more vigilant about pampering them at night. The tick and ant populations are supposed to be increased in our area this summer so DH is going to need to take extra precautions to avoid Lyme disease. What puzzle did you finish? We have friends who just completed a really cool Disney puzzle that featured eight to ten movies.

Terri, I feel bad for families with food shortages but I also feel bad for students who missed out on a lot of milestones. It's not the same but both leave an impact. DH is even having a really hard time not getting closure with his class and they are just first graders. I hope the ibuprofen worked and you are not too sore after all of your hard work.

Anne, it is not a rumor about colleges not opening in the fall. Dorms are a tricky situation as the rooms are so small, you can barely sleep six feet away from your roommate. DD1 has already been told to prepare to continue to take virtual classes and that's probably the way it will be unil a vaccine is developed. I will finish up the day care tasks I mentioned today and I will also tweak our weekly menu as we ate leftovers on days we had scheduled meals last week. DH chose spaghetti pie for supper tonight so I will have to show him where that recipe is so he can make it because Sunday is his night to cook. It's his birthday on Tuesday so we have asked him what he would like for a gift numerous times but he has yet to answer. He may just wind up with a gift card. Your marinated steak sounds wonderful! I gave that to DH as a birthday dinner option but he chose corned beef so that's what he'll get. Tomorrow is his twin brother's birthday and since he died on St. Patrick's Day, the Irish meal has always held a soft spot in DH's heart. AS far as paper towels go, I buy the select-a-size variety and tear that piece in half when I dry my hands or the hands of the children in day care.

It is almost time for the church of the desktop to take over so I will say hello to everyone else and wish you a pleasant Sunday. emoticon

Morning! I got my workout in before church but won’t get showered till after—oh, well—no one will notice!

Anne—I felt we are leading the singing—not being performers so I asked him to put enough organ that it would be easier to hear. I hope it comes out okay in the service today. I am not a fan of the little girl’s name but not my place.

Terri—you do have Bob pegged! He is the center of his universe and, although he did work very hard to support his family, he ruled the roost! I agree that this pandemic has been poorly managed—steps should have been taken in Jan. and Feb. but the leadership didn’t read briefings and didn’t listen to knowledgeable advisors so the illness spread. Now they are finding that 30 and 40 year olds who have “recovered” are having strokes so not sure who is NOT at risk. I really do wish the playbook that had been developed hadn’t been ignored…. Sounds like the ranch is really getting cleaned up! I expect you were exhausted!! I find I get tired faster—we cleaned up a corner and hauled the brush to the street 2 weeks ago and just that corner was more than enough!

Betsy—we had 60 yesterday but won’t again for a week or so. I am not surprised that people are our on boats—same thing here. Glad that your weigh-in is extended—hope you continue to do well! And it is fun to find out where people are from—I always look for WI folks on the teams. Sounds like the kids are ready to come back and see you!

Cathy—our tree pollen is all over, too. DD2 taught a class about pollination—there needs to be so much to ensure that some of it pollinates the other trees since it just blows around. She had a photo of a pine tree being cut down and the clouds of pollen around it! My store had toilet paper—I didn’t look for paper towels. But it seems that is around. Can’t find flour though! My practice grand made us a pound cake—oh, my goodness it is wonderful!! Can’t wait till she is bored again and makes me something more! Bad for my waistline but great for my mouth!

Amy and Lindie—I hope you are enjoying your day!

I have laundry and judging for the NJ History Day state contest. It has all moved to on-line so I have 8 group exhibits to judge with another person—by Wednesday. Should be fun!

Anne, bettering that Ocean City has had that problem, too---but if they own property there, you really can't tell them to stay away--but where they come from could be the help in spreading the virus---who knows nowadays. I know that several animals at the Bronx Zoo have tested positive---mostly cats---the big ones----they think they picked it up from the caregivers. I know what you mean about spending too much when you go to the store. But it seems like if you see something you need to get it in case it is not there later. This has caused a lot of shopping bills to be higher, for sure.

Dianne, , I think you are probably right about the masks but it should be your own choice, not mandatory We lose our immunity to all sorts of things if we keep this up. I probably should wear a mask when outside right now with all the tree pollen---wish we would have enough rain to wash it all away but trees are still budding. I noticed that last night when I went to a drive thru for our dinner. I went to KFC first and the line was so long that I changed plans and ended up at Arby's instead. they are always much quicker than KFC but we had wanted their pot pies. It turned rather cool here yesterday afternoon but had a bit of sunshine before the clouds rolled in. We needed our heat yesterday but not too much..
Anne, is that where he films the mass to put out for all the members? Does he post it on Facebook or another venue? At least you get to participate in it.
Betsy, glad you are almost ready for the return and it will be slow. You will have to be vigilant about the health of the kids, esp. with the baby being there. Have you thought about doing a temp check when they get there? Dh has a special bread he eats that is good for diabetics--called 647---low in carbs and has things to help digest them I think. Just know it is recommended and I feel better that he eats that than regular bread. At least you found some paper towels. We did have better luck finding them at Lowe's than other places---we generally don't get big bundles because there is no place to store them but they are in the spare room for now and it has been nice not to have to worry about running out with cleaning and window cleaning plus the regular use of them for cat throw up. Hope your hands can handle all the washing with their return.
Terri, you have been busy. I figured that with no posts. Has Steve got all the posts in for the fence? Yeah to more of the burn piles being gone but it does sound like the more you get burned, the more piles they make---LOL I agree that we need to be more concerned about the number of people without food and who need our help. We do need to get back to work so that people can provide for their families. Kind of glad for you that Steve is only working a few days a week---enough to replenish the funds but not enough to keep him totally from tying up those projects. Soon you will be busy tending the garden and mowing and trimming. Did you know that taking a B-complex pill helps keep mosquitos from biting you. Joy told me that as she has a friend that went to Africa one summer and the doctor recommended that because of the malaria issues over there. Joy says it really works so I have started taking it to see how it goes this summer as they really do attack me when working out in our yard because of that pool issue 2 doors down. You might want to consider that because of the ranch and all the outdoor stuff you do there. Do you all have tick issues there with the large deer population roaming?
We finished the big puzzle we were working on and I did laundry. That is about all I did. Knee was bothering me quite a bit yesterday--guess the front moving in---some days are better than others with it.
Drive in church service today and it is supposed to be warmer today. after the rain---hope so as I would love to spend some time outside. Hope everyone has a pleasant Sunday.

Good morning!
Terri, I spelled my Theresa's name as Terri, too...but because Terry was very common and I wanted a bit of a difference. I do not think I had seen the male name, Terry, until I was married for a number of years. That was the name of the man at the local furniture store who often took care of my orders...they carried appliances, too, so I was there a few times. How terrible that there have been brush fires already...seems so early! It is sad that the seniors don't get to finish their year with all the extras. The gas station boys do not seem to upset by it though. I hadn't thought about scholarships being lost or changed by this, though...that would stink. At the same time I also heard that some of the colleges may not open in August/September...not sure if that is a rumor, though.

Betsy, I did not know that daycare providers couldn't use reusable towels. That seems really wasteful, but I'm sure there would be some providers that would use the same cloth for days. Is your DH planning on working at the park right away or will he wait and see how this pandemic continues? The people on Cape Cod were freaking out when the people from NYC were going there for their "stay at home" time. I'm sure any vacation area is very concerned about influxes of people coming from other places. Your DD1 has a good attitude. It can be very hard for parents to get their kids to do their schoolwork, especially if they don't understand it or dislike the subject themselves. My daughter has an issue with her head-strong younger one not wanting to do the work, not the concept of the work. However, she does a bit here and then there and the work gets accomplished...eventually, lol! There are a lot of head-strong kids out there that rule the roost, so those parents would have quite a fight on their hands. How sweet that Nellie is so excited to come back! Hope you got the things done that you mentioned!

We spent a lot of money when we went to the store...I was not a happy camper. And he had the audacity to point out a couple of things that I bought after he picked out 2 packages of sushi, as well as a number of other items. Jerk! After we got the groceries and CVS purchases away he put the grill part in that needed to be replaced! Then we went to Lowes for a new grill cover...not sure what was wrong with the other cover and didn't ask. We had steaks on the grill for dinner. They were a bit tough, I'm blaming it on their being frozen. I find frozen, then thawed steak tougher than fresh steak. They were tasty, though...I marinated them in Italian dressing.
Today it is going to rain, so not sure what we will do!

Have a blessed Sunday!

Anne

Back for a bit~

Cathy, our schools are closed for the rest of the year and some people are really acting up over the "poor Senior Class" because they won't get their Sr. Prom, or Sr. Trip, or a formal graduation. There are some others whose scholarships may be affected. While I'm not unsympathetic to their disappointment, I feel worse for the parents who can't provide for their families and who are worried about mortgages and car payments and such. Gd Ali is a senior this year, but has been homeschooled until this year. She got to enjoy half a year of activities with friends and then got shut down. She is disappointed, but is taking it in stride better than many of her peers.

Lindie, I'm glad Gene is getting out of the apartment a little bit and also that he is processing things and accepting the diagnosis. I really hope that whatever medication he is able to get will be most effective for him and allow him to return to a "normal" life--whatever that is. Enjoy your weather, whatever it turns out to be. I read on FB this afternoon that there were a couple of grass fires in our area that the Fire Dept. had to put out. Things aren't really dry yet, but maybe where those folks lived it was? I'm glad I got the burning done at the ranch when I did. I'll definitely be very careful and watchful of conditions if I do more, but the season for burning is fast coming to a close. I am a private singer, too. I like to sing loud in the car sometimes and am thankful that my praise isn't accepted based on its quality--after all, the Scripture says to "Make a joyful NOISE unto the Lord..." Right?

Dianne, how wonderful that all went well with the new baby's arrival. I'm sure your friends are very thankful for modern technology since they can't be with their new grandchild. That's an old-fashioned name, I think. I've known a couple of women named Frances and both passed away long ago. Like my name, it's spelled differently for boys than girls. Some girls spell "Terri" with a Y (Terry), but I've been told that's the masculine spelling--but who really knows? Not me! I'm impressed that DH can work that magic with all the music parts! He will definitely have work after retirement in technology if he chooses. All that stuff is so foreign to me!

Betsy, don't stress about the Unemployment issue. Even if the application had gone through and was accepted, it would only open a claim for her. There would be no fraud on her part as long as she didn't put in an actual claim and collect a check. At least, that's how it works in CA and from what Lindie said, it sounds like BC is the same. In fact, if they aren't paying her a full salary, she may be entitled to collect the difference. I forgot to mention Father Brown Mysteries. I've watched all of them, too--but thank you for the suggestion. You clearly know my tastes.

Greetings from central WI, where it is currently 60 degrees! emoticon emoticon

Anne, my notes were handwritten in a notebook so there was no need to check the computer trash. Somehow, my notebook was moved to another room! I am hopeful the unemployment situation will straighten itself out once they catch up with their messages. Thankfully, we received no mail from them today. Toilet paper is getting much easier to find here, there isn't even a limit sign up any longer but I hope everyone knows not to hoard. Our favorite brand isn't there but that's ok. That was a great idea to lessen the pews that need to be cleaned, good for you. Since I have been well, I have done all of the grocery shopping so DH doesn't have to go in there. He was stunned to see me come home yesterday with a six-pack of paper towels, odd how times change, isn't it? We normally buy 18 or more rolls at a time because it is cheaper and I am not allowed to reuse towels in day care.

Cathy, I agree with the age factor but understand the reasoning behind it. Things are changing every day and the principal wasn't even sure how this would work so don't fret too much yet. yes, the County parks are scheduled to reopen on May 1 but with limitations. DH had his annual park physical on Thursday and it was the shortest one he has ever had. He was the only person in that section of the Clinic. The Guernsey Book Club and Potato Peel Society is one of DD1's absolute favorite books. Our" other daughter," Kate gave it to her and doesn't feel she will ever be able to top it. The outbreaks in Wisconsin are still largely in the southern part of the state, I watch very carefully and will continue to do so. If things get worse up here, I will close again and the parents are fully aware. We have taken to putting all of our bread in the freezer because we don't finish a loaf before it expires. DH isn't taking a sandwich for lunch every day and that makes a huge difference. As far as different scenery goes, DH and I took a ride out to the village compost site even though we figured it would be closed. We just wanted to see something other than our neighborhood. We drove along the river and not surprisingly, a lot of people were out on their boats.

Dianne, I don't care for gender neutral names either but that's trending right now. At least they used a recognizable name and not a grocery product like Apple!
congratulations to all on baby Frances! Switching gears, I am so sorry you are going to lose friends and understand why Bob's daughter would be terrified. It's funny you mentioned how Chicago folks invade Wisconsin every summer because my beloved Door County is having a huge problem with that right now. Summer residents want to come up and shelter in place there but the County is pleading with them to stay away because that isn't sheltering in place! They also realize they can't handle a medical crisis for a large population. Speaking of my home county, I was shocked to discover that someone on my 5% team is living there! I sent her a message and hope she responds because we would have a lot to talk about. Speaking of weight loss, my community weight race team came to their senses and realized there is no safe way for us to come into the PT building to get weighed. That means the end is extended once again! I celebrated with one cheat day and now I am back on track. Yes, I get Mia and Cooper on Monday and I am very excited to see them again. Cooper will be one a week from today so that's exciting too. His mother is worried that he's not trying to walk but I told her to give him time as I think he'll be just fine. He just switched from combat crawling to creeping on all fours recently so he's making progress. DD2's Center is opening on Monday as well but they only need a limited staff so she isn't going back yet. We'll watch closely to see if the Center continues to pay her at 67 %, I think they will but wonder how long they can sustain that. DD2 has not been to the apartment as she has been very good about following the Safer at Home rules. She mentioned she was missing some clothes today but the seasons are changing so she won't miss them much longer. I'm sure the place is a mess like it usually is and I am also sure that DD2's room has remained untouched.

Lindie, Mia's mother was very worried about bringing her back but I eased her mind by explaining what precautions the other parents were taking and reminding her that one of them has a newborn so they were being extra cautious. In the end, it's her choice and if she doesn't want to bring her, she doesn't have to. The day I was supposed to get a lot of work done turned into a day for lengthy but delightful phone calls from my sister and DD1. DD1 wanted to vent because some of the other teachers were upset that their students weren't doing more and DD1 is just happy for those that are making the effort. Since the day I didn't work, I have put in a lot of work and am pleased to say the day care is almost ready. All I have to do is scrub the toilet, make beds, vacuum, and put raised items back on the floor. Nellie and baby Reid were not supposed to start until next Monday but their parents have to go, "in the field," on Wednesday, the 29th so they will be here then. I am super excited to finally meet/hold Reid and see Nellie in big sister mode. Nellie's dad just texted to say that Nellie was really excited to return and that she was disappointed it wasn't today! Prayers continue for Gene's health and understanding of his diagnosis as well as his employment situation.

Terri, if you haven't seen Fr. Brown, I think you would really like it. It is a favorite of DD1 and DH. Hope all is well on Walton's Mountain!

Amy, hi!

I've been AWOL again, but busy. I really don't have time to be sitting at the computer now, but am 2 days behind on everything and needed to check email and clean out my Inbox and Spam folder (where some important things can go, sometimes). I also checked our credit card balance to make sure we won't have any carryover accruing interest and our checking accounts (we have 2 that we use) for direct deposits and automatic payments. All is well and that feels marvelous! Steve got paid for the few days he worked, week before last and will have another check for the couple of days he worked last week. It takes the pressure off and allows him to proceed with his projects.

I have two windows open so I can respond as I catch up with the chat...here goes.

Dianne, that bag for Bob must've felt like a kid with an Easter basket full of goodies! From the way you've described him, he sounds like the kind of fellow who responds well to (and maybe even expects) some special attention. You've mentioned his vanity and some self-centeredness, so imagine how much he must've loved getting those thoughtful gifts. The pizza especially! Hope the dog visits him more often. He needs to have some kind of contact and companionship. I know that things in the crowded east are not like they are out here in the rural west, but the people have GOT to be able to go to work. Putting the entire nation out of work and basically on Welfare cannot last. We have to be productive. I would hope that seniors and others whose health may be easily compromised by picking up this, or any other virus would self-quarantine. We should find ways to accommodate those folks and get the rest back to work as soon as possible. Not everyone is going to be threatened by this and the entire nation can't remain shut down for those who are. All of this micromanagement of people's lives is already chafing and making people a little crazy and all the stuff coming from the media, the changing projections, faulty models based on poor information, the misinformation about the deaths that have been attributed to COVID without any confirmation of it, and extreme pressure to go along with the group think without questioning is really quite alarming. I just think we can do better than this.

Our county has just mandated masks for everyone who is outside their home or vehicle now, unless they are in an area that allows for a minimum of 6' distance from other people. They must be worn inside all public buildings. We haven't had a new COVID case in 2 weeks, so that's good, and the mask precautions should keep it that way. The only cases we had here were from people who had traveled to hot spots and brought it back. I think there was only one case of a community member getting it from one of those people. All have recovered. I really do know that we can and must be careful, and we are trying to do our part for our community while taking care of of the things we need to.

Steve is driving truck when called, but isn't back on that out-of-town job yet. He's working feverishly around here to get things buttoned up. We went out to the ranch yesterday to deliver Sarah's huge Amazon order, take a bag full of my homemade masks for her to choose for their family, to work on the garden fence and to pick up the tractor for more work here. We spent most of the day there and I burned another brush pile and then started another where Adam has been piling brush on top of a rotting stump that we want gone. The place is really transforming with all the clearing and burning of the old blackberry canes, prunings and now the limbs from the two big trees that have been brought down to protect the garden area. Steve set more wooden posts yesterday, but the last tree Adam felled is now laying right on top of the proposed fence line on that side of the garden, so it has to be cleaned up first. Steve used his tractor to help me push the debris into the burn pile I started on top of an old stump and it was burning well when we quit for the day. Adam was home from work by then and had come up with his big chainsaw and started limbing the tree. Just as we were loading the tractor on the trailer to come home, he was using the farm tractor to pull the now-bare log out into the center of the garden area where he then started to cut it into rounds for firewood. The first tree he had cut was straight enough to be used for lumber, so it's cut into 16' lengths for that, but this tree looked as crooked as a dog's hind leg, so it will be firewood for next year. I was so tired last night, I could barely move. A hot shower felt amazing--then some ibuprofen and a glass of wine with my feet up in the recliner.

Anne, I still haven't had to buy toilet paper. We were that stocked up before things went crazy, but I will see about getting another Costco bundle soon, if I can. I haven't been to the coast to shop for almost a month. We went right before my trip to SF for Paul's surgery and Steve has been grocery shopping a couple of times since then, but not me. I will have to go soon. I'm going back to a minimal carb eating regimen to try to get the scales to move in the other direction. All the baking and winter comfort foods are NOT my friends and I need to get more weight off. The good weather, the gardening and other outdoor chores all work well for me. I just need to keep good protein foods on hand and low-carb veggies. Sadly, most fruits are out except in small, infrequent amounts.

I'm going to break this up before it gets too long, but will keep reading and try to catch up.

Cathy, the driftwood gray should look nice. Glad you were able to get things you wanted/needed at the stores, despite needing to go to more than Walmart. Howard is probably afraid that there won't be any of the kind of bread he uses when he runs out. I pick up the Fathers bread every time I see it when I shop because there have been times when it wasn't there, too. Still having trouble finding toilet paper and paper towels. Fortunately we still have some that should last a couple more weeks. Good job with the cleaning process! Yay to no swiping in and out for work today!

Dianne, glad the baby is here! Good size one, too! My middle name is Frances...family name...not really a fan. I do not think I would name my little girl Dillon...too male. I hope the nursing home contains those with COVID so that it doesn't spread to the others...though in such a confined place, I am sure it is very hard. Glad Bob made friends with the dog, lol! Dogs can be such good mood helpers! We do miss one, but are not ready to get another...wouldn't be fair since we aren't home much. Nice that your DH can put the parts together and make the song have 4 parts singing. I'd rather hear the singing than the organ, though.

Lindie, glad Gene is trying to grasp what is going on in his body. Yes, he should be very careful. I agree with you, he should be honest with his employer. Plus, they will want some medical information in order to have him back at work. Glad your meeting's sound system is better. Hopefully the fix remains in place. I am sure you do not sound as bad as you think when you sing in praise to our Lord! If you are, maybe He is tone deaf, lol! Either way, I'm positive that He is just grateful that you wish to sing to Him!

Betsy, yay to brats on the grill and no jackets! Hope all is well and you are ready to be back to work soon!

Terri and Amy, I hope all are well and that you are not too busy!

I went to the rectory this morning to do Mass with Fr. L. He did a lot of singing and I had yuck in the back of my throat...so Lord knows how I sounded, lol! He loves to sing, but is often off key. One of the songs he sang, he messed up a section and it was hard to stay with the correct notes, lol! It is so weird saying Mass in the prayer room...it's so small and tight. J and I need to go to the store and pick up a few things for dinner this coming week...and toilet paper and paper towels...if there are any. I think we will go to one of the stores we haven't been to in a while and see if they have restocked some of their empty shelves. When we come home I want to go out and do some yard work...it is really nice out.

Have a good day!

Anne

Morning! I got my exercise done--finished a "calendar"--4 weeks of specified workouts. That makes 2! I need to pick out my next one--not losing any weight but not gaining. although practice grand called yesterday and asked to bake for me--she was bored! So I have to go pick up a pound cake soon! LOL

We finally have sunshine and warm enough to be out without a jacket! Hooray! But it is going to rain and be chilly again for the next week. I would turn off the heat but hubby is working from home and wants it on.

Lindie--I hope Gene works things out and thinks about the long-term ramifications of whatever he does. Glad you sing out--God likes our praise! We enede up with 4 part harmony--I will try to get something posted today.

Cathy--yes, the masks are a nuisance but I think they will be around for the long haul--at least until a vaccine is developed and that is still a year away. Sunshine is good for all of us so get outside! I did have fun talking with Molly and trying to make her giggle.

Betsy--glad you have good weather--yes, I know how that goes. Do you get kids on Monday? Is DD2 going back to work soon? Has she been over to the apartment? You have to wonder who has been there since she left and clean a lot if touching stuff. I hope her room has been left alone.

Amy, Terri and Anne--hope all is fine! I better get moving!

Anne, glad you closed off some more of the pews so that if you have to clean, it is less. Why do men only want to talk to us when we are busy doing something else but if we are bored, they ignore us? LOL Dh started to tell me something again that we were both watching---he was standing in the kitchen fixing his coffee and watching my TV and we were both paying attention to the cute news story and he started to tell me all about it----like, you couldn't see that I was watching the whole thing, too? We did get what we needed at Acme yesterday---a couple of items that were not at Walmart and his bread. I am betting he won't even open those 2 loaves until some time next week. Glad you got rain and not snow like some people have been getting. I forget who said it was watering my flowers---well, only the perenials because I haven't planted any annuals yet---LOL
Dianne, sounds like you enjoyed talking to her about your home state. I am sure your parents needed out of the house for a bit so don't fuss too much. I think cabin fever gets worse as the older we get and the less we go. It even feels good to get outside to take the plants out of my car for a bit and then go put them back in later. I will be glad when it gets and stays a bit warmer and it sounds like you are also ready for that, too. One of my friends on another team has turned off their heat because they now have no income but unemployment so that was one thing they could cut back on. I sure hope her weather has not been too bad. I saw that Delaware has now officially closed their school system for the rest of the year. I figure your state has, too. Still not sure about mine. You might be right about those masks making us get done quicker and I feel really sorry for those workers having to wear them all day long. I was very happy to get out of the store and breathe some fresh air.
Lindie, glad Gene feels he can get out a bit---it helps to get him walking more, too, without an audience telling him how bad it looks when he walks. Glad he was able to get thru but that was an awful long wait on the phone. Glad they fixed the sound for your bible study.
Betsy, glad you are having nice weather for a change and were able to get outside. Woohoo for him wanting to play some card games with you.
Not much to report today. Nothing planned for today. I did find out that we will still have drive in service even if it is rainy---everything electronic will be moved back closer to the building. Found that out on my visit to Acme---one of the praise team works there and she told me of the plans. So I told her I would be there unless it was raining hard. Might have a bit of nice weather here today ---notice I said might---LOL
It's Saturday---and I don't have to worry about swiping in and out for work!

Hi Team, it was a gorgeous spring day, no jacket needed, that's a big deal for us. Since it was so nice, DH grilled brats for supper , we went for a walk and then he asked to play card games with me! I will have to post tomorrow. DH won't need the computer and plans to work outside so the desktop will be all mine, hurray!

Good morning everyone ! Dianne, glad you were able to get items to Bob, I bet he enjoyed that pizza too ! Does he have a little fridge in his room? Glad the dog came to him. and its too bad there are people who have the virus in the carehome he is in. These seem to be the hardes hit, especially men. Good news on the baby, I am sure they will get lots of nicnames out of it ! The weather here is nice but my apartment heat is still on and already making it uncomfortable to sleep - this happens 2 x a year, when fall hits and when spring hits, in winter its just fine LOL I am not ready to sleep with just a sheet cover - and I am cleaning my fan to start running it at night to keep it cool - my window is wide open and I get more dust bunnies and loud noises!

Cathy, better a mask then get that virus, how long were you in the store ? I finally figured out my mask problem, I saw how to make them with bandanas and elestics but I have no elestics so I stay in unless I have to go out. Gene has been going out, went out this morning, did a trip to down town then came back, he so wants to go to work, even had his packpack with him.

Betsy, I am thinking that new directive might be because of the virus, not an over all issue - schools are like cruise ships, sess pools for viruses of any kind. This particular virus seems to be affecting men in the 60 age group more then women, and they think its because of their imune system, where as women have a different due to child bearing. Also folks who thought they wer healthy are getting it because they did not know they had underlying imune system issues - Gene is suseptable because he is close to 50 and has a weakened imune system, so he will have to be very careful if he goes back to work as he deals with homeless people all the time. From what I hear from him talking to the other guards, they are not getting the ppe they need, they are classified essential workers - fortunately Gene has supplies and 1 N95 mask ... its also allergy season too - about the unemployment, if it works like ours, its like Anne said, the letters missed the cancellation and there should be a cancellation letter issued, maybe. This issue happens all the time, the agents up here don't mind - less work for them to do. Up here people have to do weekly reporting cards and on an active claim, its the reporting cards that issue the cheques or deposits. I see you did more work on the daycare, is it all ready to go now ?

Anne, I know what you mean about being bothered when you want computer time or time for yourself. Every time I start typing on the computer, or start to listen to the updates from the Prime Minister, that is when Gene decides to talk LOL - Our Prime Minister holds morning news conferances every day - and has since the beginning. Glad you closed off the church pews - it will be easier to maintain.

Someone asked about the sound for the meetings, yes the sound was much better on Tuesday night for the meeting - so I could follow along - glad I sing at home because I sound so off key at times and fub words too LOL The four walls don't care LOL

Gene is making arrangements to have the treatment, he sent in all kinds of forms and has been on the phone and computer for the last 2 days - he talked to his sisters ( they have medical power of attourney ) and his dad called him last night so he told his dad what was going on and how much the meds will cost - so now he waits for coverage and treatment, however, if this is not covered by anyone ( my daughter seems to thing BC Med will pay for it ) then another drug will have to be considered. Oh speaking of Unemployment ( we call it Employment ) Gene spent 1.5 hours trying to get through to the agents, and then he had a 2 hour wait so he stayed on theline for the wait, in the end, the agent fixed a card, extended his medical and put him into pay so he is on sick benefits until May then he will need to get a new note or go back to work. I am thinking he may not go back to work. The Neurologist said he could go back but no more over time - and he shoudl ease back into work - then my daughter says he should not tell the employer he has MS -I think that is wrong, the employer has a right to know - they are responsible for him during those working hours and he was on a program called living wage. Course it might all be for nothing as he maybe layed off at that point.

I have a virtrual physio appt this morning due to the hip issue -not getting better.

Terri, Amy hope you are both having a good week and great days !!

Morning! First off--yes, it is a baby--2:17 pm yesterday--very long labor in total but an hour of pushing. 8 pounds, 6 ounces--Frances Dillon--and a girl but you can't tell from the name! I don't like those could-be-either-sex names! But--both are healthy although I know Mom is TIRED.

Woke to rain--already have an inch. Yesterday hubby put together the music--he did bass and tenor, DD2 did alto and shipped him the file and I did soprano so we have 4 parts on Blessed Assurance. No video so not sure how to link it yet--worst case, I'll link the church service and tell you where the song is so you can go right to it. I did have him add more organ--it is to encourage people to sing, not a performance.

Oh--I did find out that the assisted living center has 2 staff with the virus and 2 residents--both in the Alzheimer's unit. So--I am going to lose friends. I hope they can keep it out of Bob's area but his daughter is so scared--with reason.

Betsy--sounds like you are making progress. The van I drive dates to DD1 heading to college in 2003! And we had it before then!! Glad it can go somewhere to help someone else. I am glad we have 2 desktops, 2 laptops and the tablet--but why hubby still needs to use MY desktop is beyond me! I am NOT good at sharing! LOL

Cathy--one good thing about the mask is that no one just "shops" cause they are not that comfortable. I did see a poster--if someone has COVID-19 but wears a mask and someone without it wears a mask, transmission is 1.5% so that is pretty worth it to me. My folks did go out and about on Wed after Dad's doctor appointment--I have to hold onto this % to think they will be okay.

Anne--glad you are doing okay. Yes, 6 pews should be plenty. People should be able to pray at home but I do know the comfort of the building. My hubby is being very busy with work--and DD2 and 3 are also busy. DD2 said she only had 300 steps at 3:00 yesterday because meetings, meetings and meetings! She hits 10K every day so had a lot of walking to do!

Lindie--I will take your heat! Not to turn on the AC but to get outside without a sweater and fleece! It is too cold.

Terri and Amy--I am sure you are busy!!

I got to help one of my practice grans with homework--she is studying the states so her mom called me so she could ask about WI--what borders it, capital, nickname, etc. So I said bordered on the south by the nasty state of IL--since we are invaded all the time by Chicago folks. Even remembered that we are bordered on the west by Iowa--just a little bit! What one place should be visited--I said the Dells cause of the boat trips into the lovely rock formations and the water parks. Molly loved the idea of the water parks! So--had something to smile about yesterday.

Take care!!

Dianne, So glad you were able to send those things into Bob. Sounds like it really boosted his morale. You are such a good friend. I watch most of the stuff on Netflick by myself, too. Have you watched the movie about the book club? Not sure if I remember the title correctly---The Guernsey Book and Potato Peel Club? Again about WW11. I am watching a one season series---guess it is from Spain but has English dubbing ---about nurses that were high society that went to help troups fignting in the Desert area where Iran, Iraz, and Israel are right now, maybe Egypt? It is not bad.
Betsy, I hope you do okay opening back up but sounds like your Dh is a bit worried about it--I know the money would be very useful but also it is kind of scary since you have more outbreaks in your area. Did you see where a 5 month old baby died from it---I think in Chicago? Father is a rookie police officer. That is sad! But then all deaths like that are sad. We ate leftovers last night for dinner, too.
We got what we needed at Lowe's. I got gray driftwood stain for the back steps and deck and some cleaning products. Wearing masks are yucky! We also took off recycling to the bins, went to the bank, and mailed off the bills at the post office. It wasn't too bad temp wise but kind of a gray day outside. More rain today off and on---I know April showers bring May flowers but we have 7 straight days ahead with rain of some kind predicted. Now that we have the stain, we have to wait for the weather to cooperate.
I did get that last bottom cupboard cleaned in the kitchen. Today I need to do that high upper cabinet inside, then I can do the outside of the cupboards, the oven, the fridge and the floor and be done in there. Yikes, that's a lot---LOL
Hope everyone else is okay that didn't post yesterday. Today is Friday.

Good morning!
Betsy, I hate when things disappear! Did you check the computer's trash? If you go to the search and type in a word that is different it may come up. I had to do that yesterday because I couldn't remember where I filed something. I found it in a wrong file folder. Who knows why for sure, but I think I must have dropped it into the file one above where it should have gone. Sorry about those unemployment letters...I hope it gets straightened out! Is there somewhere online that you can look to see if they just crossed in the mail with your attempt to correct?

Cathy, I think you sent your rain our way. It is raining now. I am not sure what the temps and weather will be for the rest of the day...I'll check that tomorrow. At least your flower beds were being watered and it isn't costing you anything! Were you able to get what you needed when you went shopping yesterday? Since this whole thing started I have only been at one store where I saw toilet paper in 4 packs. I have not been back to that store, but the 3 grocery stores nearby have not had any toilet paper, very few paper towels, if any, hardly any cleaning supplies, lucky to find bleach and have not seen any sanitizing or disinfecting items. (Meat and produce are skimpy these days. too!). Glad I am not the only one with a hubby that likes to buy things that are not needed! But sorry that Howard has that issue, too! I wonder if that no over 60 year old directive will be rescinded by the union...I am sure that issue can be part of negotiations for the next school year's teachers' contracts.

Dianne, glad you could talk with and drop off things for Bob. His daughter must be relieved that he has someone nearby that cares about him. Good for you having the energy to do all those different exercises. Me...up for work, work, home for dinner and bed. I need to change this cycle! Sorry your DH likes to buy things not on the list. Hope they are used though! Any new baby word?

Terri, I can't believe how fast we can fall behind...I'm playing the catch up game right now, lol! Of course, you know the drill...pop on and do what you can! Hope all is well with everyone!

Lindie, I am glad that Gene is starting to come out of denial. It is important to find out what you can about his type of MS, but only from reliable sources...like the MS Society's website. Glad Gene's doctor is one of the best for this disease! How can a drug company expect patients to pay $33k for medicine! Some people don't even take home $33k for a year's net salary for their full time job! It stinks about the sound system not working well for your meetings. Are they trying to address it? I am guilty of touching the produce at the stores, as well as changing my mind about something and putting it back. And yesterday, I took a few meat packages to the price check machine because they weren't priced and there wasn't a sign where they were placed. I put all but 1 of the packages back because they were ridiculously priced! However, I did have mask and gloves when I was at the store. I did wipe things down or washed them when I got back to the rectory.

Amy, I hope everyone is well in your neck of the world! Are you still working? Have you become accustomed to your new desk being smaller?

As usual, I have been busy...going in a bit later than usual (about 1/2 hour). Since my boss isn't coming in most mornings I have this "luxury" of going in a bit later. A few mornings I have slept in and others I have enjoyed coffee and computer time. However, this week, J has been talking to me, so I haven't been able to pop on here as intended and then too busy during the day.

Yesterday I closed off more of the church pews. This leaves 6 pews open instead of 12. This will make it faster to sanitize or clean. I am glad this is done. I really didn't see a need for all those pews open in the first place. Most people either go in the first 3 pews or the last 2 pews of the section that has been open. So we left the last pew of the section available and the first 5 pews available. I think the K of C will be happy to have less to do, lol!

Time to get ready for work.

T.G.I.F.! Have a good one!

Since this computer is now a church, a classroom and more, things are getting moved. I took notes this morning and the book I had them in has mysteriously vanished. I will ask DH and post tomorrow, probably at night.

Dianne, I can see your post so will respond now. The school definitely cannot force anyone into retirement but they will have a very hard time functioning without all of their staff over 60, I just don't see it happening. It will be interesting to see what they do in the fall. Does your brother work in a casino? Are you watching World on Fire? DH is really enjoying that one. Takeout sounds great and I would love to support the local businesses but I can't until I start working again, luckily that will be soon. DH isn't super happy about it but we have been eating a lot of leftovers so our food will stretch for a few weeks or more. Do you have a baby announcement? 36 hours is a long time to be in the hospital before water breaking, I hope things went well after that. Thank goodness for videos for the grandparents. How did the different parties wind up on opposite coasts?

I spent 3-4 more hours working downstairs today and about three more going through papers from a bin tonight, lots of shredding will take place tomorrow. Tomorrow the floors need to be done and then I can set things up the way I want them. Two more unemployment letters for Kathryn came in the mail today, ugh! Before day care cleaning, I got everything out of the van to get it ready to donate to Rawhide and thought about how Kathryn was only seven years old when we got it, wow!

Have a fantastic Friday!

Morning! I dropped off a full paper bag to Bob--cheese, tomatoes, bananas, raisins, ketchup, dish soap and tissues. Oh--cough drops, too. And 2 slices of pizza. When I called, he sounded like a kid in a candy store! AND the resident dog came to visit and he gave her a bit of pizza crust so she will come more easily to him next time.

Betsy--I don't think the school can force your DH to retire now but they may keep him from student contact. To me, that just says that things are not ready to open back up! The mayor of Las Vegas offered to be a "control city" for opening back up--but ready her interview, it is obvious she doesn't understand anything that is going on. My brother wants to get back to work but I wonder how many seniors are going to go to the casino right away.

Lindie--sounds like Gene is starting to think. Googling too much isn't good but looking at progression so you understand is a good thing. Hope he finds good support.

Terri--I enjoy Call the Midwife--I have also started one about WWII--hubby isn't interested so works for me to watch when I want to. DD2 is my quietest--like her dad. He says he is really trying--I'm not livid any more but not quite ready to sit and talk--cause he is really busy with work--again. Is Steve driving truck yet?

Cathy--good luck finding your stain. I got enough that I will not go shopping again for at least 10 days. We may order takeout at least once in that time--just for a change. We had pizza last night for us--that tasted good.

Anne and Amy--hope all is fine.

It is cool and grey here--again. I got my exercise done early--stability ball workout. Oour just-about-god-daughter is in labor--has already been in hospital 36 hours before her water broke this AM--hoping baby does arrive today. We have dinner with the mom and dad monthly. They won't see baby till this is "better" cause flying to CA, being quarantined for the 2 weeks and then seeing baby won't work. Guess videos will have to do.

Dianne, glad you got Bob his ketchup--probably helps the food taste better--stuff is so bland in those places. Thoughtful little things like that are so important.
Lindie, glad he is being more receptive---just hard tor him to hear all the bad news at this time of crisis and not being able to see a doctor in person---which is just nuts in cases like this. Hopefully they can figure out a way to get him treatment that he can afford. Yes, you do need to know how he will react to the meds but right now, you don't really know which ones he will be on.
Betsy, oh, no, I don't want to hear that news about age. So not fair---they need to let us make those decisions on our own---what about our personal rights to choose to work? And I have seen these younger teachers---the older ones are so much better. And I know we are already having issues finding teachers to fill spots anyhow. If they do that, then teachers with asthma or other issues should not be allowed either. this is total discrimination and your Dh would need to file a lawsuit about it if it happens. Is the park going to reopen that he works at? I know they are saying that federal parks will reopen but not when.
Terri, figured you were busy again. We used layaway at Kmart a lot when the boys were little and money was tight. There was another place that we occasionally used but their layaway was too restrictive. Like we couldn't layaway sweat pants in the fall as they were Spring/summer wear---what, who wears sweat pants then? So we stopped using them and that store closed a long time before all these other stores did. I, too tend to go towards the British shows but not so much the mysteries. My grandmother never sent the leftovers home with us---she usually incorporated it in another meal later on that week or had it for her lunch. We just had sandwiches for lunch and of course cereals for breakfast. My mom would occasionally cook breakfast---like oatmeal for me.
Ran out of spray I use when cleaning yesterday---so we need to go out today to get some---heading to Lowe's to look at stain for the deck and poly spray for the sign for dh's shed. Always lots of room there and I can get a few cleaning things I want there, too.
Have a good Thursday.

Sigh...I'm behind again. I only have a few minutes, so will try to remember my random thoughts

Betsy, I'm glad you got the Unemployment application halted and squared away. Happy Days that you are able to reopen for children!

Cathy, we have watched Call the Midwife, Land Girls, Downton Abbey, The Murdock Mysteries, Dr. Blake, Sherlock, among other BBC productions. I tend to migrate toward them and we really like to find a long-running series to get into so it lasts a while. We loved all of those I mentioned. I used to use Lay-Away a lot! When I was a teenager, I bought some nice dresses that way because it was the only way I could afford them! I wasn't great at socking money away, so layaway worked for me. The last time I used it was at K-Mart and they had a time limit of 30 days. I needed longer than that. I guess I understood that they didn't want to store a lot of merchandise for people, but still. Sorry Howard doesn't understand the concept of stocking up on things you don't really need. I liked your story of how your grandparents helped your mom by having you for meals. I'm sure she send leftovers home with her, too--just like I've done with my kids during lean times.

Dianne, I'm glad you're still able to take things for Bob and talk to him on the phone. I realize that he was already shut in, but he wasn't isolated and that's a whole different thing. It's necessary to keep the elders safe, but the cost to their mental state can be high. You and DH will have to have a nice sit-down conversation about retirement expectations and communication. You've mentioned your frustration before. He is used to communicating as he needs to at work, but it sounds like he doesn't have to interact a lot with other people. Is that right? I think you said that DD2 is most like him and I can see that she's not a chatterbox, herself. Not like you and I were when we got together!

Good morning everyone, its a bit rainy here today. Gene is coming to terms with his condition and does speak out loud his thoughts at time. He is talking with people at the Canada MS society so he is getting other informaiton as well. Apparently this doctor he saw is the top MS doctor in Canada, so I am thinking if there was another med that worked, she might have suggested it, however, he has another meeting with her and he says his sister is not going to be invited, and I reminded him, his sister has power of attorney for his medical issue and must be a part of it, we will see how that goes. I did research the med required, it is approved in Canada but under certain conditions, however, it is not covered by BC med - so - they will look at pay options for coverage - that is part of the procedure and this will not take place for at least 3 months, so he has lots of time to research, and review his symtoms as well. I spoke with Dee yesterday and said I was looking at the meds and she said we and Gene ahve to stop doctor google stuff - I said I agree, but I am looking at what to expect when he has this since he will be at my place, not hers and I will look at that. I did look at people who have had the infusion and like product reviews there are good and bad. I am also reading about the MS experts - an article I have up and will review it slowly. I want to thank you all for your encouragement with this issue.

Betsy, sounds like your daycare will be up and running shortly, and I know you will be happy to see and hold the younguns again ! I am thinking the reason for 60 is at that age we do become susseptable and many who have passed away were that age group and up. So it might be precautionary for your DH which in turn would be a blessing, it will be hard for DH to see it that way, but better safe then sorrow ! Did you get that dresser done ?

Dianne I am glad you can still take Bob things, little things is what these seniors need, some don't even get mail daily or a card, so did you put a card in there for him, if it was allowed? I thought of your SIL when Gene came home about that and did mention that I know of folks who have this and it is controlled by meds and they live normal lives. I asked him if he would like me to reach out to them, and he did not answer. Glad you got a walk in, I will be walking to the lab today, have not done that walk in a while, then I will go to Safeway afterwards but I already forget what for LOL

Cathy the temperature taking is precautionary, it does not detect anyone with the Covid-19 but the stores here are starting to do that as folks with a temperature should not be out we are still under a state of emergency here. If the person has a temp, they will be sent home, however if someone refuses to have their temp taken, they can still go into the store - I understand the reasoning, they are just trying to keep people from added stress - there was an incident here where a woman was talking on a cell phone and another woman told her to stop talking she was spreading the virus, and eventually the later woman kicked the first woman on the ankle for talking ... sigh ... these are difficult times we are living in made more difficult by the stress of it all.

There is a food processing plant in Alberta and in Vancouver where employees have tested postive for the virus, however, Dr Tam, Canada's top doctor stated that if the food is properly cooked, there should be no spread of the virus. Well, how do you stop people from breathing on, or touching things in stores ? I saw a customer handling different potaots, no gloves, even though the sign said touch only what you are buying. it will take time for new learnt behaviours indeed.

Terry, Amy, Ann, hope you are all having a fabulous day today -- it is hump day !!!!

Cathy, senior hour at the store is also for people of any age with autoimmune issues. My DH sticks to a list better than I do if he's alone. I know only one device is needed for Zoom, checking out three just seemed daunting. Why on earth are your teachers being told not to contact students directly, that's crazy! I agree that household chores would be the most useful skills for your students to learn. Our schools are supporting that for everyone and many elementary students are learning to become great cooks. As I've mentioned before, I have great day care parents and they are all well aware that their child should not come if they are not completely healthy, even if they have a runny nose due to teething. Google how to keep glasses from fogging with a mask on, you'll find a lot of great ideas. I found reading glasses fogging to be a problem when I grocery shopped but quickly discovered a solution. It probably looked ridiculous but if I put them on upside down to check a price, they remained clear! Of course I took them off when I wasn't using them, I am not completely crazy...yet!

Dianne, you are very kind to take care of Bob's ketchup needs. I bet he misses eating in the common area of the Home. Yes, time flies because Miss Dela should still be three! She was named after an ancestor, Adelaphina. her parents dropped the phina and originally called her Adela but shortened it to Dela. She will always be Dela to me but she has now decided she wants to be called Dell.

DH is having his weekly staff meeting right now and the principal just said they are having a dress up day tomorrow, wear a football jersey. What? Who will know? A local grad is in the NFL draft tomorrow so it is in his honor.

Today's plan is to work in the day care hallway. It's wide and there's a lot in there to sort through, including a dresser. If I get really ambitious I will clean out the drawers as well. After lunch, we have numerous errands to run but I think they will all be drop offs, at least I hope so.

Apparently, we may have a problem when school reopens. The principal just said there is a directive to not allow teachers over 60 to teach in person when school reopens! What? Nobody asked for elaboration and they moved on, we will have to learn more about that. The happy birthday song on Zoom does not work well! emoticon

Morning! I am going to exercise and then go to the grocery store. Yes, I can still take stuff to Bob and his daughter let me know what he needs--like more ketchup (they know he likes it and they "forget" to give him enough so I have just taken him a bottle. Guess it is gone.) I am a little sore today--yesterday's workout was done with 10# weights and I can feel it!

Lindie--I am sorry for Gene's diagnoses. I hope he settles down and asks questions and learns! My SIL has had MS for years but does the right stuff to keep it in check. She also has some medication that helps. Hugs! I will see about trying to upload the songs--but sound only!

Betsy--I do remember when Della was the baby!! My goodness, that time went fast. Sorry your don't get your "last day". Good luck with getting restarted--and yes, stay safe. My DH is a good teacher--if he wasn't already so busy with work/church/etc, I would volunteer him. Glad you got ahold of someone to cancel the application.

Cathy--men almost always buy stuff not on the list! That is why I go to the grocery store although DH does go to Costco. We had 2 big storms roll through yesterday afternoon--I got a walk in-between but hurried home to not get caught in the 2nd. 0.3" from the 2 storms. My lilacs are opening--need to bring in some to smell.

Anne, Amy and Terri--hope all is fine! I need to get moving! Doing a mobility exercise today, I think.

Anne, he said he got right in so guess not as many seniors as early as he went, but he said the people being let in at 7 gave the shoppers some strange looks for already being inside---guess they don't know about senior hour. I wish I had gone because he bought stuff we definitely did not need--he's so afraid of running out of anything---we have to have a talk about his spending as I added up last month's expenditures at grocery stores and it was ridiculous---but then we were preparing for not being able to find some things. I saw my mom's income for when I was in college when she gave me some papers---no wonder the government paid for my education. How she kept us going is beyond me---although I know part of the reason we ate at our grandparents was due to helping us out that way. And I am pretty sure they paid for my glasses the summer after 6th grade. Credit cards weren't something we had back then. I wonder when they started for regular people? We either paid by check, cash, or put it on layaway if it was for Christmas.
Dianne, yep, it's going to be tough when retirement comes if he doesn't start communicating better--but that really is not how a man thinks---or do they think at all in relationships? LOL Were you able to get hold of Bob? The weather is definitely not cooperating with us this week.
Lindie, he will never be happy with what they tell him because he is in denial. The doctor should try to find a trial for him to participate in that would cover the cost of the meds. He has to do something to help get it in to the remission stage. I know that Annette Funicello had that kind that you talked about but eventually it took everything from her---Gene needs to be prepared as well as you guys do, too. I know about the Sons of Thunder---I think we need a bit more of their enthusiasm. Howard had a list, but he doesn't just get that stuff---sigh!
Betsy, I think Anne meant that she was trying out the zoom using her different devices to make sure it was working okay. You don't need that many to use it---LOL We have a zoom coffee meeting on Friday---not sure if I will join in though. They are telling our teachers not to direct contact the students for teaching things---yikes! But I think their parents are sending them questions. I doubt our kids are doing that but then we only have 4 to worry about.. Forget who suggested it and what team did---but maybe the parents should be using this time to teach the kids how to sweep the floor, wash the dishes, fix simple meals, and other household chores. That might be more valuable than the lessons we are sending the kids here. I hope you have no issues when you restart---but please make sure they know to take the kids' temp before they come and if they have one--they do not come for several days. I read that they are thinking of using thermal scanners at some places of work to make sure the employees are safe to come in and work---think it is food handling places or big companies----but it might be a good thing to install in our schools when we go back---LOL I am wondering if they think of reopening here if the staff will all have to be tested before we do return. Maybe your dd needs to defrag her computer---it might help. But I will say that my computer seems to be slower now, but my tablet seems to be faster than this is.. I think I need to defrag mine, too.
Amy, you running?
Terri, guess you found something to keep you busy.
My Spark friend Carol sent me 2 masks--dh wore one yesterday and complained that he couldn't wear his glasses to see small things because they fogged up and I have heard that from a lot of people who wear glasses. Michael came by and said he has one with a nose clip that helps with that. So far I have not been anywhere since the order went into affect.. Michael brought us about 30 disposable face masks---I tried one on----yuck! I did just order some from Michael's web site which can be washed---we will see how they do.
We were surprised to see him yesterday---first time he has been by---he was going to get some dog food at Ace Hardware which is close by---plus he had the masks for us. I sent Dom's Easter stuff home with him so that is out of my house. He told us he dug up the big flower bed in his front yard and has a lot of bricks from that---I suggested he make himself a firepit with some of them and then we will take the rest---I am sure I can come up with a use for them---LOL
No plans for today except for more in the kitchen--the bottom cabinet needs to be done and the cabinet above the fridge---then all insides will be done.

Lindie, I am sorry Gene hasn't accepted his diagnosis and happy his sister was at the appointment. That's an outrageous price for an unapproved medication! Approved meds can be ridiculously expensive as well. I hope your appointment went well and that the physio appointment does too. Yes, I know updates are important but she needs to do that herself. Her laptop likely needs a professional tune up but of course we can't do that right now. Thanks for realizing how hard DH works and how much he cares about his students, as most teachers do, the rest of my family except DS included. He would care, he just isn't in our profession.
Speaking of teachers, I got a wonderful phone call from our other daughter, Kate, this morning. She got a job at UW Eau Claire so she can resign from the grocery store and move out of her bio parental home this summer. She will be in charge of a program titled Launch that allows students who don't quite make it into college to try it out for a year. If they are successful in her program, they can enroll the following year.

I just got a text from Cooper's mom asking if I had made a decision and I agreed to take him next week so that's settled. It's too bad acclimation takes a month and that's about how much schoolyear is left, oh well!

It took me forever to figure out how to contact the claims official for unemployment to notify them of the mistake but it's finally done. They kept giving me a telephone number and asked not to call due to increased volume. emoticon I can only imagine their faces when they read, " I didn't realize I was being paid." It IS the truth!

DH isn't happy with the Lambrusco for his mustard crusted chicken gravy but he has agreed to deal with it. He said it's too fizzy and sweet. I told him to give me better directions next time I go to the store. I am sure it will be fine in the burgundy beef as well.

I decided to follow Dianne's calendar and take ADOR from cleaning the basement for
today but I will get back to it tomorrow, now I have a deadline! Paperwork and phone calls consumed the day today.

Good morning Friends, it seems to be clouding inside and out - Gene has his appointment with the UBC MS team and they determined his has what they call progressive-relapsing MS and want to put him on a drug that would cost 33,000.00 and the drug has not been approved by Health Canada, so it might still be in the testing stage, you would think it would be free then, if they are making him a guinni pig patient, anyway a lot more research will have to be done on this, he was quite upset and he was sure he did not have MS - also his sister was with him and he was upset how she kept interrupting the coversation to add information. I reminded him, that he asked her to be there and that she would think of things, he would not. I asked him what she thought of it all but he was too angry about it all to say, so it will come out later. Other then that it is a beautiful day even if it is cloudy outside, rain coming tomorrow. I had an over the phone doctor's appointment yesterday about 4 issues, he gladly talked about all 4 and I have a virtual appointment with physio on Friday, more $$$ out the pocket ! but only the 85% Life is still good at least I can pay that.

Dianne, how are you today, still mad at your DH? Yes this could be an indication on how retirment could be, so now you have an opportunity to address that and then both of you talk about it. I am sure he must have thoughts on that as well. Can you post your singing again ? I would love to hear it even though I do not know the hymms. Glad you are toning up from all your exercises. Did you get some things for Bob ? Are you allowed to drop them off at the care home ?

Anne I am glad you liked the brain teasers, and you are correct - did you read the account, are you familiar with why Jesus said that about them ? It can also be translated "Sons of Thunder" because of their fiery zeal !! It has nothing to do with Greek mythology at all. Glad you got back for you computers, and you figured out the Zoom, you did better then me, while I use one devise for Zoom, I use the other to follow along the bible reading - which is downloaded on my phone, so convenient ! and then I have room on my desk for any note taking I need to do. How are the Fathers' doing, are they getting along ok with all the social distancing going on?

Cathy, Gene and I have watched so many movies so many times, we know the punch lines here and there, and Gene still yells at the charactors not to do something ! I know how irriating it must be for you to have Howard repeat everything - has he always done this? Did he get back from Walmart ok? WAs there a long wait? I know here there are line-ups and that only one family member can go in, so I hope you gave him a list and he called if he was not sure !

Terri, you posted after me yesterday or at some point, glad you are getting things done and I am sure you gave yourself a good emoticon emoticon emoticon
to get going with things you need to get done. I am glad you caught the garbage, now you need to educate the others what to do and what goes in garbage and what does not so that animals are not attracted to - so what did you get done today ?

In 1960 my parents bought a summer cottage with half an acre for 5,000 -the mortgage was 60.00 a month, they could NOT do those payments and my grandfather took over the mortgage and gave them a more reasonable payment - they still had trouble with that - yes we were poor - but no one can get property today for that amount !

Betsy, updates are important as it has fixes that need to be addressed, I hope you did the updates to the computer - too many screens open can slow it down as well or too much going on in the back ground, I wonder if you can find some free utube lessons for lessons to help you - I would think almost everyone and their uncle are doing free lessons at this point. Also I know how hard your dh works in and out of the school as does the teachers I know too - it can put them in tears sometimes when they are trying to help these children who will be the future of the country one day ... one way to look at it ... your husband is doing a fantastic job with that !

Gene has come back with more information, and I need to do some reasearch, Cathy thanks for the netflix shows, if I remember I will tell her lol

DD2 granted permission to use her laptop and warned me it was slow, she was right! Part of it is our awful Internet and how much DH needs to use right now but I also think she needs to run updates.

Dianne, you are an exercise machine! One day you are going to step on the scale and discover the weight just fell off. I haven't decided for certain but I am leaning toward allowing two
( Cooper and Mia) to return and get reacclimated next week before Reid and Nellie start the following week. I feel terrible but I don't want Michael to return until after the Safer at Home order is lifted because he is sick so much and his dad is a police officer. That's just too much contact with the general public for my liking but I'll see how it goes and may change my mind.
Yes, people outside of education do not get how difficult this is for teachers and many think they just have an extended vacation! DH's own brother asked him what he was doing with all his extra time! It really hit me hard yesterday that I have already had my last day with Dela.
emoticon emoticon emoticon Her family has been here for nine years and she has been here for almost 5 1/2, we had so many plans... She can visit once it is allowed but it just won't be the same.

Anne, you used three devices for Zoom? I would be totally lost but I knew you could do it!
I wish I could find a beginning computer class to learn from a non family member.

Cathy, is it possible DH repeats what he heard on the news for verification? Does he have a hearing loss?

Terri, Lindie and Amy, hello!

I am going to sign off now because I have to straighten out the unemployment mess for DD2.
Even though I didn't hit submit, the application went through. emoticon

Morning! I didn't sleep well so didn't get up till 8 AM--and then I did a strength workout that had to breathing very hard and sweating like crazy! I may weigh to much but I am getting toned! That was quite the workout....

Betsy--all I can use at the bank is drive up windows--and that took over 40 minutes! Not sure what some of those people were doing but took forever--and took a long time to deposit a check and get some smaller bills. I am so proud of you getting the day care reset. How many kids are coming back next week? Not sure if the teachers here have thought about emptying desks, etc. I know some HS teacher friends are feeling very burned out--kids are emailing them all the time with questions and they feel they must respond in real time. They do need to set some boundaries but....they care.

Cathy--we also have clouds today--expect wind (again) and more rain. I am debating the grocery store--Bob needs stuff, too--so maybe tomorrow. I made another mask for hubby and it is wrong so need to fix that, too.

Anne--I didn't do the pork chops yet--we have chili left and I think we'll have at least one more meal of it. I could have gone myself to get a salad but I was so peeved that he couldn't bother to communicate with me that I didn't. I know much of it is the strain of being home so much but part of it IS that he DOES NOT tell me what he has planned/include me in his thinking. Retirement does not look good because I feel the need to make sure he is okay with stuff and he doesn't return the courtesy.

Terri--my folks also "go to the dump" very seldom--they can burn in the burn barrel, have a compost pile and recycle everything they can. I do wish DD2 could still go to the recycling place they used to use--but have to pay to recycle there. (Sore of makes no sense to me but much of NY makes no sense.) She did get lots of great stuff for free there.

Lindie--we have formally been asked to do music for the foreseeable future. So this week, hubby and I will sing Blessed Assurance and I Come to the Garden Alone (In the Garden)--both old traditional hymns. We might try to get 4 part harmony--have to see how the recording works. Glad your sister is getting used to the place.

Amy--at least living in Iowa or WI or MN or even MI, there is always something to talk about--the weather! We are going to get a storm--I can see the clouds rolling in. NJ seldom gets tornadoes but I have seen the "green" sky here a time or two.

Well--nice thing about being home is--no bra! I have on an extra sweater so isn't too noticeable but it SO MUCH more comfy! LOL I had my first Zoom meeting last night--I don't like seeing me on the screen. Take care, everyone and stay healthy!

Hi all!

Just got back from the gas station. Needed to stop at home for my computers, but before I pack them up I figured I'd pop on here and then I will enter the data for the last few days at the gas station.

Dianne, thanks for clarifying why your Pastor wasn't there...I didn't realize it was during the week that you did the singing for the service. Sorry you and your DH are having communication breakdown and that DD2 wasn't interested in a 7 day visit by you. Maybe you should have started with a 2 or 3 day visit. Why didn't you just go to Saladworks and get yourself a salad? Sorry you weren't able to reach Bob. I'm sure his daughter is very concerned. It must be so hard for her being so far from him. How did the pork chops turn out?

Betsy, you sure didn't need a good swift kick yesterday...I think you were doing some kicking, lol! Great job on getting the daycare cleaning started and the new baby things ready! Sorry you misunderstood when the challenge is ending. Good luck with the water, no sugar, and house walking!

Lindie, thanks for the brain teasers...I had forgotten how the Bible was arranged in books, chapters, and verses. I did go online and checked it out when you first posted the question, but by the time I got back on here had forgotten about the query, so no answer. I do know the answer to yesterday's questions...Zebedee's sons. Glad your sister is okay with her new place. I'm sure the quirks will either get fixed up or she will become used to them and eventually not even notice them.

Terri, when I cleaned out my Mom's place after her death, I saw some of their (Mom & Dad's) mortgage info...I think it was about $15k for the triple decker. I also saw some paystubs from my Dad's working as a Boston Police Officer. Very sad the salary he made! You have those kids well trained, lol...guess their parents do, too! Making beds is more of a nuisance than a difficulty. Although, some top mattresses are pretty heavy or if there is too much stuff on the nightstand beside the bed that can get in the way it makes it awkward! Glad there weren't any animals feasting on the trash when you went out! Yay to bringing all the trash to the dump! Do you have to pay per bag or weight? I thought once you bought the yearly dump pass you were all set. Glad you had a helper!

Cathy, have there been long lines at Walmart during senior hour? Did you need a lot of things there or was he going for something specific? Hope he gets what he went there for and didn't wait for nothing! I have thought about the bandanas and masks and robbers, lol! That's probably why the banks around here are ATM, drive up, or appointment only.

Amy hope you and yours are well!

The person that I am working with and I did well with the Zoom. I used 3 of my devices and she used hers and it seemed to be okay. I was disappointed that my pre-set up of the 2 breakout rooms didn't show up. I'll have to see what I did wrong. I believe we will start up next Wed (not tomorrow) night. This will give me an opportunity to reach out to people and offer some trial runs. It will also let me know if some will decide not to Zoom and wait until we can meet in person again.

Well, I should get to that data entry so that I can head to the rectory soon.

Happy Tuesday!

Lindie the other series on Netflick is Land Girls about WW11 in England. Both of those series are very good . There is a new one out called Britbox that has a lot of British shows on it and series, I have thought about getting that. Also the Crown series on Netflick. Glad she likes her new place----no place is ever perfect. Have you thought about applying for a place there since it is based on income or waiting to see how it goes with your sister.
Betsy, have you watched Call the Midwife? If you do, always keep a box of Kleenex near by---some episodes are sad but worth the time to watch it. Woohoo to feeling up to doing 3 hours down in the dungeon. Hope you were alright last night. Will you wear a mask around the kids? I could see us having to do that if we went back to school. I think we all look like we are going to rob a bank or a gang member is we wear a bandana---LOL
Thinking Dh must have had to wait to get in this morning as he is still gone. I have taken a shower and did a 10 minute walk before getting back on. It is almost time to swipe in for the day and I do have a team meeting to attend.
Have a decent Tuesday.

Anne, I think they would be shocked on how little we lived on back then---LOL Hope the Zoom meeting set up goes alright.
Dianne, I understand about you and your Dh---Howard and I got on each other's nerves Sunday and yesterday morning. I am hoping mine learned something yesterday---I absolutely hate for him to tell me what is going on on the TV when I am watching the same darn thing he is so I heard it too. Hopefully he will remember it for at least a couple of weeks.
Dh just left for Senior hours at Walmart so I need to get off and take my shower as I know he will need the bathroom as soon as he gets home. Back later.

Terri, emoticon get that paperwork done! emoticon emoticon
t's a good thing you didn't open your door to a bear this morning! I agree that it's fun to look at old ledgers and see how inexpensive things seemed to be.

Dianne, that's too funny ( emoticon ) that your DD2 wasn't receptive to a seven day visit! It's sad that you and DH weren't communicating better so you could have had your delicious salad. Try this one instead, emoticon emoticon Your bank lobbies aren't open, are they? I would love to hear about the pork chop recipe you found. I'm sure Bob is in the same boat as the majority of nursing home residents right now, lonely and confused. It is great that you keep trying to connect with him.

Anne, I hope the fall picnic decision goes whichever way you desire. I also hope we can safely gather by then. isn't it great when you get emoticon that disappears almost as quickly as it came?

Cathy, that pool is a hazard, I would call again. The city needs a permit for any upgrades because they can raise your taxes. Mothers Day will be very strange this year, I sure am glad I have one child with me but it won't be the same without at least one of the others. It wasn't the electric bill that was so high, it was the sewer and water. DH will start packing desks up next Tuesday ( his birthday) because that's when his next scheduled planning meeting with the other first grade teacher happens to be. we are under a severe thunderstorm emoticon warning at the moment but so far we have gotten nothing but a little rain this afternoon.

Lindie, I wound up getting a full four hours of work on the day care area of the house and I even got Reid's bed set up for him. emoticon DD2 noticed and said it looked great but I still have quite a bit to do. Thanks for the link, Google is great but it is also nice to get opinions from cooks I know and trust. The British show you were trying to think of may have been Call the Midwife.

The Community Weight Race that I am in was supposed to have ended last week but COVID changed that and it is still going on. I thought I had until after Wisconsin's Safer at Home order was lifted ( May 26 ) so I have been cheating a bit with all the baking I've been doing. OOPS! An email came in today stating that final weigh-ins for those who wish to be eligible for a prize would be next week! emoticon I think it's time to drink lots of water, hide the sugar and walk around the house as much as possible. emoticon

I hope everyone had a marvelous Monday. Have a terrific Tuesday as well!

I took something out to the back porch last night to put it into the trash can and noticed that an animal had torn a hole in another garbage bag that Steve had removed from the can and tied up. We gave up our Trash pick-up service because they had to raise their prices too high when CA added the last horrendous gas tax. We just don't make very much trash, so are always able to toss our one bag in with Paul's or Adam's when they are going to the dump. Well, with me being gone for 2 weeks and Steve having a houseful of teenagers, there was a lot more trash and probably some food smells in with it. (I never put food in the trash and always wash the food wrappings before tossing them so we don't attract the raccoons--or worse, the bears! I called Paul to ask him if he had enough trash to make it worth driving to the dump today, and he did. He won't be able to drive for a few weeks yet, so it was a good service to him to take my turn. Pablo loaded theirs into their truck and came over to pick me up and my 3 bags full, and then I drove to the transfer station to dump it. It was a lot more expensive than I remember!

Now I'm in the apartment to pick up a few of the things I left here, check on my seedlings, and eat the leftover spaghetti for my lunch. I thought I might use the sewing machine here, but it's cold and I have a few more things to do to clear my desk up at the house, so not today. This morning started out sunny and nice, but the clouds are rolling in and there is a definite chill in the air.

The kids got up this morning and stripped their beds, as I had asked them. The sheets are washed and I put them in the dryer before leaving for the dump, so I'll get the guest beds re-dressed this afternoon and that will be a big job off my list. It's not really that hard, so I don't know why it feels like such a big job, but it does.

Good progress on your task, Betsy! I need to have the kick you invited because I still don't have those files made and papers put away.

Anne, I only use one set of pages (left and right sides of the ledger) per month, so each book holds a few years worth of records. They aren't taking up much space, so I will keep them. The kids can do what they want with them after I'm gone. They may get a kick out of seeing that our first property payment for the canyon was $25 a month. Steve had bought in with 3 friends (40 acres between them) and their payment was $100 a month, split 4 ways. Two of us (we and the neighbors who still live there) bought out the other two partners after about 10 years, but our payment then (after reamortization) was still about $100 month for our half. Anyway, I think it's kind of fun.

Lindie--did you ever get your coffee from your sis? Or just talk Netflix? I get sidetracked like that all the time and sometimes it's not funny. I'm glad she likes her new place.

Good morning ! Betsy well done on the first hour, rest then do another hour, is that the plan ? Here is a link on cooking with wine, I took your question and googled it LOL

www.gourmetsleuth.com/ingred
ients/deta
il/burgundy-wine

I only know I like Australian wine - when I have a wine, I dislike a sour wine, but will drink it with a meal - I have never cooked with wine, and that might be a good thing, considering ...

Dianne, that was too funny that no one is cooperating with you, I am sure that all are some what stressed about how things are going. Patience is a fruitage of the spirit I need to work on - I have very little patience with my family. Yes my sister loves her place, it has issues, but she can live with them ... she worked last night so the rush was to get there, have a coffee and let her get her nap in before her shift - but she forgot to make the coffee as she was talking about getting netflik for free - she did have a card she used and watched something called The Blacklist ? Not sure what that was so I recommended watching the British shows you all watch but I could not remember the name. In the meantime, I suggested asking Charise how to get free Netflik as you can do that and her response was "use someone else's account " bwahahahaha we all busted a gut over that one - but I know there was a way to connect through Nintendo at one time. In the end she got Gene's cromecast thingy and now she has it on her tv instead of the small screen. He said he was not using it anyway... So what did you wind up doing, more exercise ? OUr music this week for meetings was really bad, but I was prepared and brougfht the song(s) up onmy phone and since I was muted I could get the melody and follow the wording on the screen.

Cathy, do you like going to your church parking lot for service, I am assuming you all stay in your cars - we can't do that because our parkinglot is too small, not everyone has a car, and we have over 100 people a meeting online or at the Kingdom Hall so Zoom meeting room it is. Strange that you need a city permit - I wonder if that is being done virtually too. Can you post more pictures of your garden and yard when you can ? We have cloudy skies today, rain is coming -most likely tomorrow.

Anne, I just learnt that Zoom has virtual board rooms so to speak, not sure how they work as I dont' conduct any of the meetings but several people who work do use Zoom, including my daughter - she is still working. Here you have to keep tax documents for life, they can go back to any year to audit you - now Employment Insurance can only go back 7 years. AND they do ! Glad you enjoyed the ride, I think being in my sister's car too long caused my hip to be bothersome then was in Gene's car and his is lower to the ground and harder for me to get into.

Hi to Terri, and Amy, hope your day is going well.

So did you ever find out who put the chapters and verses in the bilbe as we have it today ?

The chapters were done randomly by different groups, the German's had their's the Dutch their's but it was English Cleric Stephan Langdon who later became the ArchBiship of Canterbury. He did this early in the 13th century when teaching at the University of Paris in France, that's how we got the chapters we know today in our bible.

The verse numbering was added later - some 300 years later by renouned French printer-scholar Robert Estienne - although he was not the first to do this, his was more widely accepted. I found that interesting and you can find more from the History of the Bible.
It reminds me of when Jesus went to the synagog as was his custom and "found" the passage in Isaiah he read to those present. There was no chapter or numbering system in his day, they were scrolls, but he knew where to look.

So here's another one for you if you like, who did Jesus call the " Sons of Boanerges"? I will give you a hint, its found in the book of Mark .... Happy Monday to all !

Good morning. I woke up at 6:50 and will try to get up earlier again--nice to be DONE with my exercise by now.

Anne--we had regular church--Pastor is fine--but he wasn't at the church mid-week when we recorded the music so that's why no video. Our services with my DH and I leading the singing are on FB but we aren't shown because we just do the audio. Glad you got out--I didn't yesterday. I had hoped for another Saladworks salad but DH wasn't communicating and we didn't get it. Needless to say, I am not very happy with him right now. Threatened to go visit DD2 for a week! (She wasn't too receptive either.)

Terri--glad you got the bills paid and the paperwork done for March. I have record of everything I spent in 4 years of college--$$ was too tight to just "spend it". I should show the girls and then pitch the ledger. I remember once dropping the 25 cent fare into the bus fare box and the driver said needed another dime--I didn't have it and just sat and ignored him--he really didn't care. Guess I was in an "added fare zone". Yeah--I was broke.

Betsy-good to know how DD1 is doing--thanks for that update. Yes, as long as the wine is RED, you can use it. Red and DRY is better but your family might prefer if it was a little sweet. I hope the weather settles for you and Amy--we have had chilly weather and lots of grey days with wind but it is supposed to warm up a bit. I hope DS's job keeps working for him.

Lindie--I hope you got out to get what you forgot when rushing to visit your sister. Does she like her place? Is she settled in? We have friends who have finally sold their house--so they are moving as much as they can themselves. They will live with his mom for 6-8 weeks until they can buy the new place so lots going into storage. We have their grandmother clock and some lamps and outdoor furniture. I guess the movers can work. The lawyer paperwork is challenging but people have found ways to do that as well.

Cathy--good luck remembering to swipe in and out! Not too hard to earn your $$ this week. DD2 is becoming my ZOOM expert--they are going to be teaching lessons via Zoom in May. They had a big meeting with teachers and that was the teachers' preference. So some will "assign" the kids to watch and participate. Whoever is teaching will go into the office to be able to use the stuff and show animals--and then will also do animal care that day.

Amy--did you get out for a run yesterday? Are you an "every day" or just 3-4 times a week runner? My DD1 runs at least 2 miles every day. She had a stress fracture about a year ago and did water running in the pool--hated it but needed that exercise to keep herself sane.

I think I am going to go to the bank today. Should plan out meals--I may try the pork chop recipe I had found. Do need to get to the grocery store sometime this week. Didn't get Bob on the phone yesterday--not sure what is going on. His daughter is concerned--he is sort of off in his own world. I just try to get him to join this one for a little bit.

Have a healthy Monday!

Dianne, did you just have singing since the pastor wasn't around? Is he feeling okay?

Terri, I thought I was a paper hoarder! Actually I would have all my paperwork since we got married if J didn't go on a tear about 10 years ago. At that time I got rid of everything prior to 1999, I think. So, there's still a lot of paper in file boxes, lol! Hope you were able to get a lot accomplished yesterday at the ranch.

Betsy, I think a lot of our younger generation doesn't look at their checking or saving accounts activity...they tend to look at their balances either online, on app, or from their ATM slips. Thanks for your vote of confidence on my Zoom capability! At least the woodpeckers are going at the tree and not the neighbors house! I thought they knocked on the trees to access the bugs and maybe to have mating calls. I believe Lambrusco wine will work in place of Burgundy...as long as it is a dry, not sweet wine. I think I would use it and see, even if it were sweet, lol! I'd say you and your DH did quite well! Congrats on choosing a good "rebound" partner! Cathy is probably right...if the roommate is home all day, then more electricity and heat are being used...thus higher bills!

Cathy, I think it really stinks that you need building permits, but I guess it is for safety reasons and of course, for the city/town to get more income. I'm thinking another call to the building department will be necessary to have them come look at the neighbor's pool situation to make it safe...or a call to the news channel...does the city/town care about safe are backyard pools remain? Do they have a fenced in yard? That may be all that is required and not one that actually surrounds the pool. I said to J that you were probably at your service. I believe the plant is in the Kalanchoe family.

I am going to work with my co-host today to see how she handles Zoom and then try and set up a few times that participants can "test" their systems. I am sure there are a number of them that are already using Zoom, but just haven't offered to help. I will be glad once this project is off my plate!

The wine/beer pairing fundraiser has been officially postponed to next year...yay! One less thing for me to think about at this time. I did talk to Fr. J about the Fall picnic and suggested we hold off a year. He asked me to hold off til Memorial Day timeframe before I connect with the picnic team to make that kind of a decision. Who knows, maybe things won't be so bad and we can actually have a social event, lol! I don't mind assisting or running these things, but right now I feel very over-whelmed...probably because it has taken so long to figure out the Discovering Christ continuation plan and finding a program available that allows for break-out rooms, which Zoom has.

Going to start the laundry that I didn't finish yesterday. Instead we went for a ride, just to get out of the house. Oh, by the way, the 3 or so inches of snow that we woke to on Saturday morning was gone by Sunday afternoon. We didn't see any snow while going for our drive.

Have a good Monday!

Anne, Not sure when they will start---we haven't heard on that yet. But we just sent back paperwork that was needed before they could schedule it. Not sure how they are doing in getting the permit from the city to do it. I don't know why improving your house with siding needs a permit, esp. when they have not done anything to that neighbor with the inground pool who has no fence around it since it fell down and it has been reported by us and our neighbor. That is actually a state law so they should enforce it. I hear you on missing going out to breakfast like you used to. It is nice to still be able to get food from places but just not the same as eating out and away from the house. And it looks like my state will still be closed down on my birthday and for Mother's day--but we usually cook out on that day and go out for my birthday. Did you figure out what that plant is? I was at my drive up church service when you texted---LOL It felt good to get out again for that. Right now the plan is to do that every Sunday but guessing if it is rainy, we won't have it.
Dianne, I still dress up a bit more for Sunday ---I find that it helps get me in the right mood. I am hoping to soon be able to wear my Spring tops more often. Except for today, each day will hit 60 here this week. Are you still looking for the calla lilies? I was tempted to buy some at the grocery store but bought the house plant instead.
Betsy, do they heat the apartment by electric heat? The roommate might be keeping it up more now that she is stuck at home---can't say I blame her on that. I am sure a lot of heating bills are up in your state as people can't turn down the heat like they usually do when at work. Plus you have had some cold weather lately, too. I think that wine would work although I don't know much about them. But as long as it is a red like burgundy is, then is should be fine. I just know there is red, white, and ice wines---LOL The only one I have ever liked is the ice wine. Make sure you tackle that basement today----but little by little. When will your Dh have to start packing up the kids stuff?
Lindie, I didn't watch it either, but then I don't like most of those "stars" and their style of dress--but I did see Lady Gaga perform on CBS this morning and she looked decent for once. I think a lot of people process things differently, they just won't admit it. I realize it because I deal with students that learn differently--and each one of them has their own style. We didn't buy any more gardening stuff this past week because the weather was not good all week long, but this week will be better so hopefully we will be out there getting the veggie beds ready as I expect to be able to plant the next week here. We can throw some covers over the plants if we need to. On our way home I took the back way home and enjoyed seeing the dogwood trees in bloom.
Terri, sorry you are losing your helpers but maybe you can corral them again if you need help. Did you get the rest of the fencing up and has Steve disced up the ground for the garden? How much longer before you can plant there? You might find getting a large Kindle to use for those meetings---cheaper and easier to use---plus you can post on there when the computer is acting up---just takes a bit longer to do. I find it works fine when I am traveiling and a lot easier to carry around. Maybe can't do as many things on it as an Ipad but a whole lot cheaper for what you want it for. I attend the virtual meetings at school but don't allow my picture to appear, but can mute and unmute my mike if I want to talk or add to the conversation. A lot of us don't allow the picture.
Going to be a rainy day here today but hasn't started yet. My plans are to work some more on the kitchen. Our gas is at 1.89 here. It keeps dropping a bit each week. Last week it was either 1.93 or 1.91 at different stations. Taking longer to go down as the stations are getting less deliveries as they don't have that many customers now.. I have set the alarm already to remind me to swipe in for work this morning.
Have an active Monday.

Lindie, we did see the concert, it was pretty good. DD2 definitely processes differently and that is difficult for all of us but we find a way. She has a Kohl's card but she doesn't use it because the first time she did she forgot to pay the bill and got a late fee. She only uses her debit card now and that's better. The other renter does split the bills with her but has a habit of sending them in the day they are due and it drives me crazy. I have no idea why their utility bill was so high, especially since DD2 is rarely there. The only thing I can figure out is they are zoned city and we are zoned village so maybe the rate is different. As you said, we are social distancing so DD2 has not been there but Rachel lives there so I am sure the place is OK. Everything Kathryn owns is in her bedroom with the door shut so it should be fine. She also owns the kitchen table but we aren't worried about that. Think of all the money you are saving by not going to Starbucks daily, that's the first thing financial planners tell people to give up to save money. What happened to Tim Horton's?

Question for all...Can I substitute a red Lambrusco for a burgundy wine in a beef recipe? I am not a drinker and didn't know what to buy so I asked another shopper and she pointed me to the Lambrusco. DH said it needs to be burgundy but we sure couldn't find anything that said burgundy wine on the label. The recipe is something called Charlie's Burgundy Beef and is similar to beef stroganoff.
I made 25 pancakes, half with chocolate chips and half without. I used 1/3 cup scoop to pour them onto the griddle although the recipe said to use 1/4 cup. The recipe said it makes 6 pancakes. I doubled it and got 25! They taste good so I know I did it right, can you believe they could be so far off? I was supposed to clean the basement today and didn't. Tomorrow I need to work down there for at least an hour and report back that I di it or you can all give me a virtual kick!

Good afternoon everyone, did anyone catch the concert last night for the front line workers world wide ? I did not, I was tired by 9 and in bed by 9:30 ! The weather is changing and rain is comming although we have sun this afternoon, it will be raining soon . I did not get on the bike yesterday and I feel it in the hip, too much time in a car yesterday and getting in and out of Gene's car today was painful - so back on the bike to loosen things up. The cat is acting up as well, throwing up and pooping where he should not, so Gene is cleaning that up. And cleaning the litter ! I am typing here lol saved by a post ! I went out and forgot half the things I needed as I was rushing to get to my sister's before her nap time - she works tonight ! Oh she told me she went to the clinic to see a doctor and she was the only one in the waiting room and she did not wait at all - no one is going !

Betsy, glad you are feeling better and your cupcakes taste yummy - enjoy that roast ! I know how hard it is to teach someone how to do things and get the right answers, I had to figure out a couple of things for Gene's sick benefits and at times I felt I was talking to the wall - in the end it got done. He is meticulous with his money though - never carries a credit card balance its always at 0 - I can't say the same ! I wonder if its the processing of the mind that has an affect - I know Gene processes things differently then others, and my sister got mad when I told one of the medical teams that, but I have known him longest and know his behaviours. I am glad that dd2 gets to stay with you as these are difficult times for adults never mind younger ones who may have trouble understanding things. Have you figured out why the bills for the rented place is so high ? Isn't the other renter supose to help with that? Has anyone checked on the place lately ? I guess if you are suppose to be "stay home" you would not be venturing over there, but I hate to think of the condition of the place considering a misbehaved cat ( yea like ours a moment or two ago ) ...

Terri, I told my friend about your 100 tomato plants and all the gardening you do and the canning you do and she was so impressed, she would love to do that too but not in an appartment building ! She wants to get one of the community plots but her husband says no , So I will share yours with her by telling her how you are doing ! What do you know about sourdough ? I think its a plant, is it not ? I know nothing ! WOW to that ledger, have you breezed through it and remembered things ? Sorry you are loosing Ali, but hopefully the boys can continue to help you.

Dianne, glad the girls are doing ok, I was wondering about your daughter in Detroit though - glad you are getting your exercise in as well, I doubt restrictions will be loosened any time soon, death toll is still too too high - and I am glad you are taking that seriously too ! I am staying in as much as I can but there are times I have to go to the grocery store - trying to do once a week not every day. I have speakers in my room for my Ipad, my laptop was in there until I had to hard wire it to the internet - but I do not want to bring speakers out here, so I seldom listen to anything on the laptop unless I use the ear pods which work well, just can't use them washing dishes LOL

Cathy I think my DD2's comment was more because someone was over there complaining, I have heard that I listen to my music too much, however, I am usually in my room with my door closed and it is not up loud as I have to consider my neighbour next to me and over me - I think someone just complains to be complaining and that someone was advised not to do that again. Time will tell. You know its interesting that you might have to go back to the school, I sure hope no one left food in their lockers, that might be a hazzard and you might need hazzard pay, actually they think nurses should get hazzard pay right now. I don't know about where you are but up this way they do make good hourly wages with over time and stuff as they are unioned, but the care workers are minimum waged and they are getting better wages now through this issue as some were refusing to go into work, that ment residents not getting washed, changed, or fed - sad what happened in Quebec ... it can happen anywhere really. I hope you are extremely careful if you do go to the school - have you been out to buy any more gardening things ?

Anne, I do have an IphoneX but the screen is really not much bigger then the 6+ I have - the ipad works great for zoom and I don't want to use the laptop in the living room as that is a common area and Gene would not be able to watch TV if he wanted so I use the Ipad in my bedroom - with the good chair LOL I am glad the family is doing great or as great as can be expected ! Do you miss going out for breakfast with Rich and his wife ? I know about the only thing I am missing is going to starbucks daily - can't remember the last time I went!

Amy I hop eyou are enjoying good running weather and you have been able to get out once in a while to run !

Well time to get off here, have a good one all !

Terri, you will miss Ali's cleaning services. Can she come and live with me now? emoticon 46 years of edgers would be a really fun way to look at your family history. Last week I read through a journal I wrote in 1982 and that was fascinating. The first 3/4 of the year I was dating Michael, the man I thought I would marry and the last 1/4 was dating my now DH. We started dating about two weeks after Michael left me and everyone cautioned he was a rebound and I shouldn't be dating yet. We will celebrate 36 years of marriage this October so I guess we did alright. emoticon Your explanation of the loss of a tree reminded me of an event this morning during our computer Mass. Our neighbor at an angle across the street was outside staring into the sky and then he went into his house and came back with a white dish towel. He looked like he was surrendering as he waved it around over his head. Once Mass was over, I called his wife and she told me they have woodpeckers ruining one of their trees and a professional is coming to look at it tomorrow. My question is how do you stop a woodpecker from pecking trees? That's what they do!

Dianne, Saladworks sounds delicious. emoticon I have never been to one. I miss salad because I don't trust the lettuce in the store due to numerous recalls and the farmers market is closed so I haven't been able to buy our aquaponic lettuce. Yes, DD2 has a fully furnished room and lots of clothing at her apartment but she has the same here so she's not missing anything. Remember she spent a lot of time here even when she wasn't in quarantine. We will happily support local businesses when we get our stimulus check but most of it will have to cover expenses the money I didn't make would have covered. DD1 is teaching virtually and attending grad classes virtually. Sometimes I forget she's teaching and text her during the day. Once I got a delayed response that said she was neck deep in a Shakespeare discussion with her class so she couldn't reply. After me, DS is hit the hardest financially but he has some work and seems to be doing OK. He already got his stimulus check so I am sure that will help cover the rent.

Anne, DD2 never looks at her checkbook balance and balks when I ask her to do it. Walk ups aren't allowed at our drive through restaurants, you must be in a vehicle. This was a major problem for truckers but they have now figured out a solution. If my DH can figure out Google Meet, you can figure out Zoom. emoticon

Cathy, DH's school had less than one hour notice of the shutdown so they scrambled emoticon to get anything done. At that time they really thought they would be back in session in a couple of weeks. We think the parents will be instructed to pick up the bags full of their child's belongings at particular times. It is a K-12 school so some parents may have to come back five different times but luckily, it is a small area so it won't be too much of a hardship.

I made lemon meringue cupcakes emoticon this afternoon and they look delicious. DH is making a roast right now and we'll have the cupcakes for dessert. Quarantine and baking go hand in hand but it isn't contributing toward shrinking our waistlines at all. The recipe only made 12 cupcakes but I still may give some away. Once DH is finished in the kitchen, I am going to make more banana pancakes but this time I will add chocolate chips and freeze them for later.

Lindie and Amy, hope all is well. emoticon

emoticon to everyone who is concerned about me going back to work too soon. I assure you if I am not ready, I will notify the parents and they will understand. I have been doing more and more each day so I think I will be fine. Also, DH does have to teach/correct a lot but he can be flexible and assist me as well. If DD2's center remains closed, she'll be here as well. They can have 50 students and a minimal staff so if her anxiety prevents her from returning, I don't think she will have to go. Like other Centers, they must service the families with essential jobs first. As of two weeks ago, there were only five families who would utilize them so I think they will stay closed. it is time to switch the sheets to the dryer and get a shower.

emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

It was decided that we'll take two vehicles out to the ranch so that Steve can take the dogs. He brought the tractor home last week when he needed to dig up the leach line, so he's taking it back out this morning so we can use it to clear blackberries around where the new garden fence will go. He took Pablo and the dogs with him, so Ali, Christian and I will follow in my car. I'm waiting for a local sandwich bar to open so we can order lunch and pick it up on our way out. If I'm going to work them, I guess I have to feed them, right?

Dianne, we lost one apple tree in the canyon from bores that had gotten to it. I think I had the mulch too deep around the tree and touching the bark, so it was easy for them to attack it. The tree is actually sprouting from the rootstock, so we decided to let it go and see if we can graft a good tree onto it sometime later, if we still own the place. I'm glad your girls are still working and I like DD1's idea of supporting local business, too. We are buying garden stuff with ours. Actually, we'd have bought it anyway but this makes it easier. We don't eat out often, but will certainly support our local restaurants when they open again. I sent our tithe check to the church in Placerville that I attend when down there, along with a note to the pastors to thank them for their online studies and services. I think they are actually having Sunday School classes, too; however, I haven't checked that out yet. It wouldn't be the same, but it's something.

Time to change the laundry over, turn off the coffee pot and go pick up our lunches. I'm not sure if I'll be back here today, but plan to take some photos of the greenhouse and garden area at the ranch today. I'll post them when I can.

The Zoom Bible study would be with our old friends who moved to Redding many years ago. When our kids were young, we had 6 couples who met weekly for years for study. Our kids were in the same Christian school together and we attended the same church, Most of the women played softball on the same team in a women's league. I have never found the same companionship since the group broke up and all the other couples moved away one-by-one. On our last visit, we chatted about our old study group and Tom called us later to suggest that we Zoom in on the one they're having in their home. It would be a new concept for us and strange, in a way; however, I think we would enjoy it. We would need a new and better device, though. My PC doesn't have a webcam or mic, so they couldn't see or hear us from that, but we could see them. I don't think I'd like that and would feel like a lurker. A tablet would be okay, I guess.

We watched the service this morning from Parkside Church in Cleveland, where Alistair Begg serves as Sr. Pastor. He's probably my all-time favorite. Steve then went to town to turn in his time card at the office, pick up more fence posts from Ace Hardware, fuel up his truck for work tomorrow and then we'll head out to the ranch to see what work we can accomplish in one afternoon.

Ali plans to go home this afternoon, but the boys will stay with us one more night and go home tomorrow. Their parents miss them, I know.

I didn't get the filing done, but made a tiny dent in it--but that's only because the piles had been growing because people kept adding to them! So I went through it again and got rid of the old mail and junk stuff--and then came across some bills that needed to be paid. So that's what I ended up doing the rest of the day because I found out that I hadn't entered anything into my record book for March! I was that far behind! So now, the checkbooks are reconciled and the ledger is current. Just so you know, I record our extra expenses in the book under different headings for Misc, Ranch, Log House and Canyon house so that I can keep track of what we're spending on each place. I used to need it for taxes when we were renting the canyon house, but we don't itemize anymore. Now I just do it so I know where our money is going. In fact, when I was cleaning the file cabinet, I found all my old ledgers! Almost our entire 46 years of marriage is recorded in them. How cool is that?

emoticon I have taken notes and will post after Terri and/or Lindie posts to try to stay caught up. I forgot to mention that our gas in town has been ranging in the $1.30 range but southern Wisconsin has it as low as .89! emoticon yes, you read that correctly, eighty nine cents! Have a happy day!

Morning! I have done my workout--for the morning anyway--and likely won't have time to shower before church if I talk to you instead. Nice that no one will care! No video this time--we didn't have the pastor around. Today's songs are He Lives and Easter People, Raise your Voices--one very old and one written in 1979.

Anne, I need to do Zoom tomorrow for a church meeting. Hubby has it set up on the Ipad so he'll help me. I don't know why we are meeting but.... I hope you enjoy your day. I think we are getting salads again since I have a buy one, get one free offer. They sure tasted good!

Cathy--I never thought about the kids stuff in their desks. I think our school had them take home all they'd need for school work but didn't have them empty desks, etc. I'll have to ask one of the girls. I am all set to do the pond program that I used to teach--found a source for nets and will take 2 3rd graders from church to "do" it when restrictions are lifted--even if that is Sept. I know they cannot possibly make up the classes so this way they won't miss out completely.

Betsy--oh, I am glad they are paying her but good heavens, she needs to monitor her $$ better! That would have been not good. I wonder what is going on at the apartment that costs are so high. Is her stuff all still there? I know day cares here are still closed unless you have only essential workers children. I do hope you feel better--keep resting the rest of this month!! Is DD1 still getting paid? Is she "teaching"? I am glad my DD2 is still working--she has lots available--all the programs are "old" and need to be updated a bit.

Amy--I hope your run worked out. I know my DD1 relies on them! She did 2 marathons in her running sandals--socks and closed toe shoes make her feet break out. I don't know when that happened--she used to wear shoes!

Lindie--hope you have sunshine today! Maybe the comment about the music will get you a better speaker--even and Alexa. I DON'T want one--I swear they listen to conversations and pass the info on! But it would be nice to have better sound.

Terri--you will need a big garden space! Are you doing the only garden at the ranch? Did you go to visit your mom? I wonder how your fruit tress are doing at the canyon. That is a cute little place.

DD1 told her sisters that they should spend their stimulus checks at local eateries or donate to the food banks. They are lucky that they both have their jobs/are getting paid so they are to "pass it on". Like DD1, we don't get one but I do support DD1's idea--while saving is very good, stimulating the economy and moving money around since so many of us aren't spending like usual will help. I know the churches are hurting.

Well--time to get my coffee because church starts soon!

Good morning!
Cathy, if you got a refund when you did your taxes this year (or last year if you haven't done your taxes yet) and you had the IRS direct deposit your money, then you it should go right in. I hope it has so you will replenish your account! When do they start the work? Glad you enjoyed the presentation.

Betsy, this virus was so down-played by so many at first, that it is understandable that the schools would expect to re-open. If the kids have to wait til next opening I'm thinking a lot of their things will no longer fit and some of their "toys" will no longer be of interest. I can not imagine trying to put together the different kids things for them. Where will they pick them up? I'm guessing DD2 isn't spending a lot of money, so she hasn't seen her checking account balance. So glad she realized that she was getting payment! Yay to finding toilet paper!

Lindie, you are right...there is a big difference between Zoom on computer screen and Zoom on the phone. I have the original iPhone SE and it is a small phone (not like the Plus-sized ones). The picture is small, but it can work. That's a great idea to check the Smithsonian and other places for virtual tours. I will have to try that.

Terri, awesome plants! My J would be envious. I know he can't wait to start the garden, but it is too early here. A lot of the supplies to make masks are scarce. Lots of people are making them. One of the parishioners dropped about 1/2 dozen off for the Fathers. Fr. J gave me one. It is prettier than the surgical ones I am almost out of, lol! I have tried setting aside the funds for the taxes, but have failed. I need to use due diligence, lol! Did you get to the chest of drawers decluttering? Is it more than one family that wants to do a Bible study? If it is only one, then you could use Skype or FaceTime (iPhone/Mac) on your phone or computer...if you have another computer that isn't heating up. Otherwise, just call each other, lol! It is nice to do a Bible study with someone.

Amy, that's a good idea paying off the medical bills...they can weigh heavy on you. Thank you for sharing your church's website. You have a lot of good things going on! The links on Zoom are helpful. Thank you. Is the Starbucks busy? The Dunkin Donuts across from the gas station is pretty busy...they are only using the drive-thru, so the mechanics and gas pumpers walk up the drive-thru line and order.

Dianne, how did your singing go? Can you tell if the service is well attended? Hoping for another link, lol!

There's still some snow on the ground, but should be gone today...if the temps go up the way they predicted. I did have to go out yesterday to drop off some paperwork that was needed at the gas station. So I went to the local restaurant and got 3 dinners. J wanted chicken parmagiana and ziti and raviolis. So I ordered the chicken dinner and the ravioli dinner for him. I got baked haddock and mashed potatoes. We have leftovers for lunch. It's the place we usually go for b-fast with Rich. As I drove out of the parking lot I was missing Saturday morning b-fasts.
I think I have figured out Zoom. Today I will reach out to the person who I am working with for this to have her try it out...she is not super computer savvy, so I think she will provide good feedback on the signing up and using of Zoom. It was weird running the 4 units for my meeting yesterday. The important thing that I figured out was the breakout room location...I needed to scroll down more on one of the set up pages for the option.
Going to find a Mass online then later start laundry...only things other than Zoom on my agenda for today.

Have a blessed Sunday.

Anne

Anne, glad you were able to figure out how to register with the IRS. I think we probably got our stimulus checks but haven't been to the bank to check on it. I hope so as I already spent them on the new siding for the house---LOL---Luckily I had the money in the account to pay for it but need to have it repaid by those checks. Good idea to save them but also might be good to pay off something, too, and then put that money into savings. Hard decision. We did it this way so as not to touch Dh's retirement savings to pay for the siding down payment. Yikes to the snow!
Amy, is she busy at that Starbucks? We have been able to save money on gas because we haven't needed to fill up. I just filled mine up this week and it has been about 6 weeks since I last bought any. Did you do any running yesterday?
Lindie, glad you had nice weather. Was rainy then chilly and windy here yesterday. Your dd's comment or your sister's was probably more to do to the choice of music rather than the sound of it. They just don't understand. Hopefully one day they will.
Dianne, what kind of computer does she want? I thought one could use any song in a hymnal to sing without paying royalty. Glad they are following the rules about that. I understand this because of being in choirs and groups that have performed in public. I also know the choir teachers and band teachers have to go thru that, too.
Terri, that's a lot of tomatoes but they are all looking good. Yes, green peppers take a while to get going.
Betsy, are you sure you are ready to have the kids back? Not sure if you are recovered enough. Yikes to having to deal with your dd's finances as well as your own taxes on the same weekend. I don't envy your dh needing to figure out the kid's shoes. Will the kids come by to get them? If so, maybe he should have them sitting out there and they come up and pick up their own if he can't figure them out. I wonder if our school system has thought about the kids having stuff they need to collect. They were told to take home important stuff but not all of it. Our kids won't have anything in their lockers but do have stuff in their desks they might want. And our 8th graders won't be back as they move on if we stay closed. They did talk about maybe having school during the summer---I would be fine with that as long as we had a couple weeks off before restarting. This has felt like a long horrid summer break already.
I did have more energy yesterday and worked some more on the kitchen. Watched a live presentation on Facebook by Michael W. Smith---that was wonderful but not long enough---LOL
Dh finished another puzzle yesterday---I think we have one more small one, then we can work together on the larger ones.
It's Sunday again.

Dianne, Wisconsin isn't opening up any schools for this school year. Good for you for making preemie hats, we still have the one a volunteer made for our DD2 and we love it. We actually have more than one since she was in the NICU for three months. We are SO happy we have farmers we can buy chicken, beef, and pork from and that we have an adequate supply. All we need now is the farmers market to reopen but that wouldn't happen until June anyway. The winter one was due to end two weeks ago.

Anne, yes, DH can drive but I definitely cannot go with him into the school. The kitchen shelves i cleaned were just six shelves on an entertainment center unit that I had already started so it wasn't a big job. The closet I cleaned was not the one that was chest deep in stuff but a nearby coat closet that was a much easier task. I did find some Bombas socks that I ordered for the girls for Christmas two years ago so now I can give them to them in 2020! I know what you mean about pantry shelves not being arranged the way you had them, it drives me crazy too. DH isn't always on the computer but he has set up a temporary teacher desk in here so if he isn't on the computer, he's doing paperwork. I am so happy to hear that kat seems fine and hope her next doctor visit confirms that.

Terri, welcome back to life with your prince! DH drinks tonic water daily but doesn't take the zinc. the tonic often has gin added to it as well, LOL.

Cathy, while I was grocery shopping today, I was shocked to see 12 packs of store brand toilet paper as well as Charmin! The store brand was $4 cheaper and there was more on each roll so I bought that. DH's next eye appointment is May 19th. I already mentioned DH bagging up the belongings of each student but failed to mention that a question he asked each one on their phone call yesterday was to describe theri gym shoes. Can you imagine having to figure that out without them there? They normally help with putting away the textbooks the school owns as well, poor DH. DD1 can't believe they let staff in the building either but the administration wants it that way, go figure!

We got our taxes back and the preparation bill about matches our state refund. Once again, we had to pay in for federal. That said, it was a lot less than last year so that's a relief. After not being paid for five weeks ( for the most part,) I am not sure how we are going to pay the tax preparer but we'll find a way.
On Thursday, I didn't get back here because I had spent a couple of hours here already filing for unemployment for DD2. Right before I was about to hit submit, she looked at her account online and said she was still getting paid! I was SO close to having her commit fraud via me posing as her, aaaarghhhh. It turns out she hasn't been reading her emails and they did pay her in full for the first two weeks they were closed and now they will get 67 % of their normal wages. Everyone except Amy knows that math is not her forte and she struggles with the details so getting all of the information I needed from her as I filled out the unemployment form was like battling a war...and then the truth came out just in the nick of time. Ladies, she had no idea she was being paid and she hasn't been there since March 18! I worry about her SO much. Today we had the pleasure of writing out her monthly bills together but the bills are at the apartment so she had to ask Rachel questions ( I had to tell her what to ask) via text and that was nightmare number two. It's not hard but she doesn't understand so it's very traumatic for her ...and therefore for me. Thank goodness I have a lot of patience! Lastly, the apartment utility bill is a quarterly one and their bill was $70 higher for their little apartment than ours is for a big house, why?

Happy Sunday!

Well, the day didn't go exactly as I planned but it was a good day. I spent a lot of time tweaking the menu for the next several weeks, preparing a grocery list, shopping, sanitizing and putting away. Remember when we got all those extra salads? This time it was a big bunch of bananas so I made banana oat pancakes for brunch tomorrow ( we'll heat them in the oven during Mass,)
banana bread and banana oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. One large load of laundry was also washed and dried and will be folded tomorrow.

Lindie, I miss our Windows 7 terribly. No, a virtual doctor visit never happened because I hung up after waiting for 70 minutes! DH is not back in school, he just has to go every two weeks to put packets together with the other teacher. Next time he goes, he will probably be there much longer as he will likely have to bag up the belongings of each student. DD2 has not gone back to work yet but her school is being very good to their staff.

Amy, yes, I am excited to get my newest baby and to see his adorable big sister again. They will be back on May 4th. I was completely surprised that all of the other children want to come back as well but I haven't decided how I am handling that yet. I may have some of them come back the week before that so they can adjust before we add the baby into the mix.

Dianne, I hear you on missing your daughter's birthday. Our DD2 informed us that she wanted to have a party at her friend's house and spend the night there. After being unable to gather for DH's birthday and the birthdays of DD1 and DS, that just about stabbed my heart.
I am going to break this up so I can fulfill my promise of posting today. LOL
