What a great thing to spend some of your tax refund on! WTG! I had Saucony shoes before and loved them. That was the first pair I was put in when I had a professional fitting. My new ones are Pearl Izumi and I LOVE them.

Aren't you glad you got fitted? I have Saucony too and I adore them, they've made a world of difference to my knees!

I don't win races, but I always cross the finish line. I'm not fast, but I try my best to become faster. I don't have sports endorsements or earn a paycheck, but that doesn't stop me from running. My pace does not define me. Just because "professional" does not precede "athlete" in describing me doesn't make my running any less valuable. I am an everyday athlete; leading a normal life, but with big goals and dreams.
I am an athlete. I am a runner. (runzoerun.com)

Congrats on the new shoes, and on doing it right at a running specialty store. Best money you'll ever spend as a runner. Don't count on the 500 miles thing though. I get about 180-200 miles on a pair of shoes right now. I suspect it's more related to time in your shoes than miles on them.

After a few pairs, you'll get a feel for when you need to start looking for the tell-tale aches and pains of worn out shoes.

I'm going shoe shopping this week and I can't WAIT! I hope I feel an AMAZING difference, too!

A Few Rules of Running from Mark Remy:

1. You rarely regret the runs you do; you almost always regret the runs you skip.

2. Not everyone who looks fast really is, and not everyone who looks slow really is.

3. Running any given route in the rain makes you feel 50 percent more hard-core than covering the same route on a sunny day.

4. If you care even a little about being called a jogger versus a runner, you're a runner.

I am a walker-trying-to-run and I just treated myself to a new pair of running shoes with part of our tax refund. This was the first time I have ever gone into a running store and walked/jogged for the salesperson so he can evaluate how the shoes help/hurt the way I move. Holey Moley what a difference a proper pair of shoes make! It was interesting to hear the opinions of different brands of shoes (how the most advertised were pretty much the worse shoes in this persons opinion). Anyway, walked out with a pair of Saucony Pro Guide 3s. They are little pillows of heaven on my feet! My new goal is to put 500 miles on them by the end of the year. Maybe I can ask Santa for another pair by then!
