Got a new plan: Keep calories under 1300 5 days a week; 1500 2 days and do 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week; strength training 5 days a week overlapping with 1 full day of rest.

I'm so sorry to hear about your child, the weather has triggered asthma with my two but they both got the swine flu shots at a clinic. Other that that I feel very good today, still have'nt weighed self yet, but am measuring myself every two weeks. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding healthy snack for kids, I have a few but could use some suggestions.

The diet is going smoothly, but...
It seems I spoke too soon on the swine flu not being a big issue at my house. Daughter #2 now has it one month later. It's in her lungs now with pneumonia. Can't tell you how grateful I am for the state ins since the Rx they called in cost over $100.00 but is covered in full along with the chest x-ray. My poor babe.

I was doing really well, then I got the flu...I was feeling better yesterday, yet felt starved from not eating much the 3 days prior & kind of over indulged a bit yesterday. Back on track today though : ) Even exercised a bit...walking. I'll step it up a notch tomorrow.

Stay strong Amy, don't let them drive you to the food. Our house just finished with a bout of the Swine Flu with my 15 year old, but thankfully she didn't have complications. Good luck with your crew. :) emoticon

I am struggling to get my to my P90X routine. I have been off for 3 weeks now. My husband and I made a pact yesterday to resume it tonite, so I am crossing my fingers on that. I am still going to the gym 2-3x a week but I miss my routine. I feel different when I do my P90X. I am not gaining weight but definitely not losing weight and holidays are fast approaching, so I really need to stay on top of my fitness regimen.

I had what could have been a very stressful day yesterday. I found out that my Dad was in hospital back East. Normally, news like this at this time of the month(!) would send me into a funk and straight to the snack cabinet, but not yesterday. I felt calm, yet emotional, but I didn't use food for my outlet. I actually picked up the phone, talked to sibs and Parents and then went for a walk.
Today the news is better all around- Dad should be home by Friday and the scale is down half pound.

Progress is good:)

Struggling a bit this last week, feeling like I just can't do this, but today I am motivated again. Now if I can continue the motivation from 7-10pm every night when I usually fall, we will be doing well.

Hi all,
It's a tough one with my 17 year old, Ashley. Having issues with one being very sick with complications from the swine flu, Courtney. Obviously, Courtney needs 24 hour care and attention, regardless of the fact that she is 21. Ashley feels that the world should be revolving around her only. HELP!!

She's driving me to eat!!!!

Here are my goals: 14 lbs., 30 push ups and 5 mile run (running the whole way) by my birthday on Dec. 12. Am off to a slow start -- ate a lot of rich food this weekend -- have lost 1 lb., can do 12 push ups (the real kind) and ran 3 miles on Thursday -- running the whole way.

I will eat sweets when I first see/get them and have a small portion as that way I don't think about them later. If I see something I know I love and think, "Naw I don't really want them" and try to forget about it I find that I tend to go back and maybe snack on a little bit more of it than I would have if I had just tasted it the first time.
I do find the cravings for sweets have really decreased over time though. I buy no calorie candy treats and carry them with me for an instant sweet with no calories.

Spark On!

Sandy

Well, I found the candy I was given yesterday and had no interest in eating it then. Today is a different story, I ate all of it and I do not like being so inconsistent. Any ideas?

I'm guessing I shouldn't have kept it, but given that stuff away. Can't believe I ate the whole thing, to steal a phrase from a commercial (in the 80'S?). Sharon

My life has changed. I am eating better, exercising regularly and my clothes tell me I have lost weight.

My monthly weigh-in day is coming up soon, next Wed. I am both excited and nervous, I am SO GLAD I don't have to weigh-in once a week like when I was on WW.

I am new to spark people and I am not sure if I have posted a message with this team yet. My name is Sonja. I am a mother of three teenage girls age 12, 16, and 18. I have been married to my husband of 15 years. I home school my two oldest girls.

I haven't been here a week yet but I feel like I am doing good. I have walked or exercised a total of 7 miles between Wednesday and Thursday. Friday I got my wisdom teeth out so I taking it easy. I think I will still go out and walk today anyway.

this morning the scale was not kind to me. I have to stop visiting it! It is probably due to TOM and I'll check in a day to see.

It did motivate me to record all my food I eat today and to visit sparks.

Emekkens, FIX your focus on the positives, ie when you are off the plateau and back losing weight again. This WILL happen if you are doing everything to make it happen. As someone else has just said, keep your eye on the ball.

EMEKKENS - Have you switched up your workout routine? If you've been doing the same cardio your body can get accustomed to it. If you've been walking or jogging, try biking instead. If you've been biking, amp it up to spinning! Maybe this will help.

You can do it GIRAFFEKISSES. Se below!

I was 155 kilos/341lbs or 24 stones 5lbs........ I am now, today, 21-09-09, 147kilos/324lbs or 23 stones 2lbs. I am over the flipping moon. The walks are painful still and I moan and grunt, but oh joy, has it been worth it...... YES, YES, YES.

Thank you people on sparkpeople. I'm not sure this would have happened without you there by my little old side. I'm ever so grateful, really. Kisses and hugs to all of you.

Hi I'm sorta new to the group. I've been lurking the posts for awhile but had help deciding to do more for the weight loss life style this week. My doctor told me most of my health issue stem from being overweight. I am 200 lbs and she said no more messing around "you need to lose 45- 50 lbs in about 6 months then we'll talk more". I must admit this is daunting. I have a 16 yr. old that we homeschool which means the fridge is always there to tempt. Maybe more phys. ed with her-- Anyways we'll see. Nice to officially meet you all.

Wow, reading how much everyone has lost is really inspiring!! Great work to all. I'm new too, this is the end of my 2nd week & I've lost 4.5 lbs with Spark & 25 lbs in total. But now I'm really being accountable by logging my food which really helps stay on track.

We can do it! I have a 14 year old daughter who just joined SparkTeens but she doesn't have to lose any weight.

Have a great weekend all!
