I'm so sorry LOLLYJEAN for what you had to experience. You were not AF but you were the responsible one and did not overdo it as it's obvious your husband did.

It's unfortunate that this is the memory of your 31st anniversary.

I'm glad you were able to post/vent... We are here for you and you can vent anytime!

I hope you have a better weekend and that perhaps your husband wakes up to the realization of what an *SS he was!

I have been a fool for (at least) 31 years.

It's my/our 31st anniversary today. Not that he remembered.

He dove into the rum while I was at job #2 this afternoon. He ate dinner which I thought would make a difference...but not today.

I don't know what time he started phoning his friend, a guy (in his late 20's) that he knows who was apparently in the process of moving today but he had me drive him to the guys new house just after 7:00.

The only problem was that the address he said I was to take him to didn't exist. So we came home.

About 7:50pm he wanted me to take him back because he'd "talked to the guy" and now knew the right address...until we got there, and again, there was no such place. Apparently the phone call didn't exist either.

By now he'd almost finished the 26'er of rum and was falling all over the place. I wanted to kill him, period!

Just before 9:00 he actually got this guy on the phone and he wanted to go to his house...again. It turned out that he had the right street but was guessing every house number except the right one.

I dropped him off with the "bag" he'd packed. Less than an hour later I got a call to come pick him up. He was breaking glasses/things and couldn't even stand up.

Keep in mind...the guy, his friend, has young kids and was at the time just moving in to a new basement apartment. At least the guy had enough brains to know that having a drunk old man around was NOT the way to make friends with new neighbours and a new landlord!!! Plus he knew it wasn't what/who he wanted around his kids!

So I went to pick him up. I did not want to. Ever! But I did. He was missing his "bag" which the guy went and got for him...so he wouldn't have to come back for it. It contained the empty 26'er, cans of coke, and an un-opened mikey.

Then I took him to his other friends place. Woke his friend up and left him there...with his "bag". This other friend he's had for over 40 years and...believe it or not...is a bigger alcoholic.

He (husband) asked how he'd be getting home. I said I wouldn't be coming back for him tonight...and I might come pick him up tomorrow...if I'm home when he calls.

Anyway.......

The short answer is no. I'm not AF tonight. Almost finished beer #3

and I truly hope your Thursday, April 1st, April Fools Day, Anniversary is as good as mine is...now that he's not home emoticon

I'm sorry about my long winded whine...but thanks for being here emoticon

Well the fool of April got me... I had drinks but it was the WEEKEND! I had a great day at work, did my gym workout and then enjoyed! The weekend promises to be nice weather wise... 1 day of drinking was fine... think I'll be AF for the rest so I can get more stuff done (I'm so productive when I don't drink lol)

Well, I only made it for a 3 day streak:(
But I'm not giving in! I did change my April goals and I'm getting back on the horse!

Didnt have an AF day yesterday... So much for my streak of 1 day BUT I only had one glass not two last night after work which is good for me. I am going to see how many days one bottle of wine will last me.

Hello all and Happy April!!!!

emoticon and emoticon to each and every one of you. It makes me soooo proud to read all of your posts and to know all the effort and energy my emoticon team-mates are putting into making themselves stronger, healthier people!!

I sent March packing with a strong finish in the form of a 10 day AF streak - 27 AF days for the month - a new personal best!! emoticon

Am thinking about April goals - it will be a challenging month simply b/c we have several social events planned, will be traveling quite a bit and have many reasons to celebrate.

Just a heads up to you all as well - I won't be around a lot. Life is getting nutty and I can either exercise and log that OR visit with my Spark buddies, but not both! I'll do my best to pop in and will be thinking of you all regardless!

I haven't been AF since Friday...but I seem to be moderating well. No more than 2 glasses of wine a day. I figure with everything that's going on though, the fact that I am able to moderate is definite progress. :)

Congrats to all of you who are in the middle of streaks or even if today is your first AF day. Keep up the great work! :D

Thanks to all of you who wished me happy birthday and sent me messages of encouragement. Since I started on this team 1 1/2 years ago I have had good stretches and bad but hopefully tending in the right direction overall.

With all of your encouragement I had an AF day yesteday. So yay for me. I dont know if I can make it 2 or 3 but maybe

My goal for April is going to not drink before 6pm. I figure that will make sure on the days I drink it is in moderation. If I make that goal I will go onto bigger and better things, but this one at least if think I can do.

Astonishingly, since the beginning of Lent, even through many negatives (sister had a fire and lost everything, had to rebuild the deck because it fell through, working in the yard became a nightmarish chore), I have actually had many AF days. Out of 43 days, I have had 36 AF! Isn't that amazing? But now I am going to have to give up my beloved beer completely, or almost so. High Blood Pressure rears its ugly head, darn it.

Debbiekay - Yes, I believe it...because I've been there too - we all have. It happens - the important thing is to do what you're doing - don't beat yourself up, ride out the day and keep moving forward. Throw away the rearview mirror!! emoticon

SS - emoticon on meeting your goal and aiming to push beyond it! That's fantastic!

Phoenix - Good going. Regarding your earlier post, don't worry if it seems to be taking a bit of time to get back where you want to be after vacation. It's totally normal....I always look at getting back on track like taking the on-ramp onto a highway - takes a bit of time to get back up to speed!

MamaBug - Please continue to post here! We are here to support and encourage everyone - AF or in moderation. Right now, I can't drink in moderation so have chosen to try AF. I have even thought that maybe I shouldn't be part of this team anymore but then realized I need this team to keep me going. And I want to help support and encourage others no matter what their goals. I wouldn't be where I am today without the support I received. emoticon

Hi checking in, still AF 85 days today, and planning on being AF all of April. I was visiting my sister this week end, and we were drinking pals in the past, this visit we drank tea. I felt no pressure to give in, I hope I can keep this going.

Many days I read through everyone's posts and feel so happy for your successes. I want to post and join in but my AF days are so few and far between I don't have anything to post about on the AF thread.

But today is my birthday. I am 42 and there is no time but the present. I am going to make a change starting tomorrow. I may not have the AF streaks like you all but if you don't mind I may post my moderate days since I just cant seem to wrap my mind around AF and need the support of the team.

Time to do something good for me.

17/28. I should be able to reach my goal of 20AF days, but this hasn't been the greatest month for me. I really seem to have been thrown off by my vacation - eating and drinking wise. I've had two not AF days this month were I didn't moderate. I need to get back to my plan. Plus, getting sick (with a bad cold) has prevented me from exercising as much as I would like. However, I'm slowly getting back into things and am planning for April to be a better month.

I just wanted to check in. I have been AF 15/28 days for March and I've managed to drop a few pounds! I think the good weather is helping with that.

emoticon to everyone on your AF challenges. I know it's not always easy, but this is such a nice place to fall when the going gets tough, isn't it? Keep up all the great work!

So - back to holding the reins a little tighter. Had great success with staying AF during the week I spent in the US (but had trouble with calories though - I have no clue of how you can stay inside calorie range when living around THAT much food and THAT large servings!)
Phew. Well AF all week, but crashed when arriving at home. Redwine, sigh. So today will be starting again, and now there is also weather to start biking, so let us see if this goes the way I intend it to.

My posting is going to be sporadic for the next little while...I no longer have regular internet access.

Anyway, I just wanted to report in. Thursday was the visitation for my mom, and I was AF. Yesterday was the funeral and I was AF. I am trying really hard not to let my mom's passing become an excuse for drinking again.

Hey all!

emoticon to all of you on your AF days, on moderating and on getting started...or restarted! What I love about this team is that everybody fits, no matter where we're at on our respective journeys! Pretty cool when you think about it....

Thought I should check in - I have had a streak going since Monday (6 days AF already???) and, so far, I am on course with my objective of finishing the month AF.

Will be 23/27 if I stay AF today - and don't see any reason why I won't.

BTW, DH reminded me of an AF treat I really enjoy - although I wasn't craving alc at all, he brought home some alcohol-free beer on Thursday to make the evening a bit 'special' (he had made me a special dinner as well - he does this often, especially when he's coming out of a busy period that has put a bigger load on me...yes I am a lucky lady, and I know it!). Anyway, even though I'm not a big beer fan, it did feel like a treat and made the evening feel festive - sometimes a 'sense of occasion' is all I'm after when I say 'yes' to a glass of wine. It was nice to have that 'good' feeling without all of the really 'bad' feelings (including blowing one's calories!) that can come with drinking alcohol.

Have a great weekend all!

emoticon DEBBIEKAY!!

I got my AF groove going on again... unless another 'social' occasion comes up, then I'm going AF for the rest of the month... still striving to break my last longest streak of 10 days emoticon

Hi Everyone! I am on Day 2 of yet another streak. I guess if they are only 2 days long, they aren't really streaks, but whatever way I can do it, I guess.

Yes Flo I do have the same problem. Sometimes we depend on the wine to relax us. When I go on streaks of being AF the first few nights I can't sleep. Then I start sleeping so much better.

I also use the sleepy time teas also I have resorted to sleeping pills.

Good Luck to you girl!

Hello team! How are you? Haven't been around in a while.

I guess I'm with Livinwell - March travels lead to a bit of partying, and it hasn't been easy getting out of that "rut". At least with the warmer weather I've been able to get out & walk more.

Good luck to everyone, keep going with those streaks!
