That is a very hard situation and I would not like to be in a position that I had to make such decision, but sometimes we find ourselves there.

I am sorry for your loss and for your feeling right now. And maybe is not helpful, but if I were in your place I wouldn't be counting wine by bottles, but by cases.

I hope you can find peace and comfort.

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. We had to do the same thing to my brother about 10 yrs ago. It is a hard thing to decide but you know it was the best thing to do. It is never easy and I will be praying for you and your family.

I went through the same thing 10 years ago and the one comfort is that I know in my heart that my Mom understood and wanted it that way. My thoughts and prayers are with you in this process you are just beginning. Take care.

I am so sorry to hear about your Mom, don't hate yourself for taking responsibility for your Mom's best interests, if she was on a ventilator, it was the ventilator keeping her alive, would you want to live like that? I am sure your Mom wouldn't. You are right, the alcohol will only numb your pain for a little while, allow yourself time to grieve, and face tomorrows without your Mom,and cherish the time you had with her. God Bless

Smile, and the world smiles with you !

We had to make the same decision for my dad a month ago. It was what he would have wanted. He would not have wanted to live that way.
My sympathies.

Today I have allowed myself to sit on the couch and cry all afternoon. I have cried into my wine glass, finished one bottle and I know I will be opening a second one later. I know the alcohol numbness is temporary, but for now it works.

I close my eyes and I see my mom at the moment we turned off the ventilator. I keep seeing the nurse coming into the room, putting her hand on my shoulder and telling me that she was gone. I never ever ever wanted to have to make that decision. I will never get over having to be in the position of having to make that decision. I just hope that mom forgives us and that she knows why we did it.

I'm not sleeping...eating makes me sick.
