emoticon 50 points for the team today!!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! Mine was quiet, yet fun talking & texting to family and close friends. No candy this year! I did boil a half dozen eggs for myself and decorated them. Just had my last one this morning for breakfast. Next week I'll be kitty sitting for 9 days. Fun to have pets in the house especially since I can't have any in this apartment.

Can't believe it's already April! Have a good month everyone!

You are doing AMAZINGLY!!!!

emoticon 6 years, 2,191 days of Sparking! I went UP a # this week, YIKES! Not what I had planned. Salt & building muscles at gym, clothes fit better, but now I'm 10# above my smallest goal, boo hoo! Thx to SP at least I have the tools to fix it, right? I'm the healthiest I've been in years!!!!! emoticon Tomorrow, for St. Pats day I am taking my White Fox & skating him in the local parade for a few hours, if no rain or wind (20 MPH today)! Now that is energy! He weights about 10#!

On my way to a fun 5k! 3-5-18

Finally home for a while... I've been kitty & dog sitting for a couple of clients since mid February while they go to Africa and Hawaii. Just a little envious of their world travel. Out of the question for me, but fun to vicariously share in their adventures.

I've lost 20 lbs. since January 1, but have been plateaued the last couple of weeks. Got to push for more exercise if I can only get rid of the pain in my leg and hips. I have to "recover" for a day or more and suffer from no sleep when I do what used to be a minimum for my routines just a year ago. So slow going....

2-16-18 I so overdid it as far as exercise yesterday.... today is a kinda rest day only 145 minutes, Pilates; house cleaning, etc. Keeping up with healthy foods & drinks, woo hoo! Also, today is my 1 month to go before I have been sparking for 6 years! (March 16, 2012)

So far so good for 2018... I've lost 19 pounds from Jan. 1 thru morning of Feb. 15. Not too bad, slow but steady. Hope you all are happy with your accomplishments so far this year!!

Well it has paid off... I've lost 11-1/2 pounds since January 1st as of Sunday's "official" weigh-in for the week. This morning I had lost another pound so I'm on my way down!! emoticon

Couldn't get to Snap Fitness as I had planned because another obligation had priority. Now I won't be able to go until Wednesday or Thursday. But, I am doing some video exercises in the mean time. I had stopped doing my Qi Gong at night before going to bed for months, but this last week have started it again. I should have never stopped. It does help to relax me before bedtime. I forgot how much I really enjoyed it ~ kind of a meditation time for me.

Have a good week everyone!

I've been really working on my diet the last week, and walked more this week. Still in a lot of pain, but trying to push through it. Definitely have to rest the next day or I lose too much sleep. Weigh-in tomorrow morning... we'll see if I have any progress. Re-joined Snap Fitness yesterday and will start Monday with a trainer. Need some help on some of the new machines since I haven't been there for almost a year.

Have a good week!

Only 3 points for today... emoticon

Had a busy day at an all day training conference with members of my club from all over Nevada. Nice to meet and compare notes from everyone from the smaller clubs to larger ones. Always something to learn. By the way, interesting how "hackers" have tried to infiltrate some of our websites. Learned a few things to be aware of and "look out" for those nasty corrupt XXXXXXs!

By the way, after I looked at my tracker, it was actually only 3/4 of a mile in 20 minutes. I know I used to be faster on that route. Just forgot the distance.

Gosh, I can't believe we're already near the end of the month. Have a good week everyone!

Funny, I think walking 3 miles in an hour is GREAT!!!!! That's pretty quick! Am I missing something?

1-20-18 Hoping for rain, as always, but 35% chance! Today is volunteer dinner, should be fun, then a 2 mile walk afterwards. I LOVE volunteering for this VERY special nature center. Getting ready for my performance up there, Feb. 3, lot's of repacking from Christmas show. & rehearse of course!

Let me know where you have your blog.
emoticon Had a good PT, they added 3 new exercises, one with a stability ball which is good because I have one at home. Think I'll pick it up tomorrow and use it at my gig for another week.
emoticon Got my haircut, and so far I think she did a good job. I'll know more when I shampoo tomorrow and blow dry it myself.
emoticon The high school about a mile away is having an annual farmer's market tomorrow morning so I'm going to check it out. It's a worthwhile fund raiser.
Then I'm heading home to get my mail and do a few errands. Hope I can see Norm for a while too!
Have a great weekend!!

I am going to start a new blog where I can post my daily calories and exercise, similar to what I have been doing. Hopefully others will join in.

I spent the morning with the folks. After I left them I went to the grocery store and then stopped to take a walk on the way home. I went down by the river, emoticon I haven't been there since the flooding. One of the foot bridges was washed out so I could not get down by ,the damn. I walked for 40 minutes. Total steps for the day at this time are 7,301.

My food intake was pretty good today. My total calories are 1,419; Fat=30, Carbs=53, Protein=17.

I am wearing my hair in a bob now, I needed a change. emoticon This is easy and it is still long enough to pull back into a pony tail when I am working outside.

Have a great weekend! emoticon

3/9=Missing the Team Bonus Flags already! Wish SP hadn't changed the Start Page. Don't like the HUGE blog - too much like Facebook which I avoid 99% of the time.

emoticon Nice and warm here too. Went to PT but was a little tired and sore. Got about 6-1/2 hours of sleep last night, but need more.
emoticon Going to try a new hairdresser tomorrow for a haircut. One of the gals at the PT has been "going to her for years" and I like her "bob" so I'm hoping for the best. My gal that I've been "going to for years" has moved to Oregon. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good cut so I don't have to do much to it while in CA.

Nice to have the weather warming up! Was 72 today and will be 70 tomorrow. Plan to work in the garden emoticon this weekend!

Could not find the Spark America team points, feed has been changed.

I spent the day with my folks so I had a low activity day. My steps emoticon at this point are 4,421. I will work on that, I got 20 minutes of stepping in last night to get my total activity up to 30 minutes for yesterday.

My calories are good today, my food was more balanced today. Total calories were 1,539; Fat=26, Carbs=56 and Protein=18.

Hope you have a great weekend! emoticon

Yup! Pushing a cart doesn't seem to count much on my pedometer either...

emoticon Salad bars can be nasty when it comes to the dressings... It takes some getting used to... but using just vinegar or lemon with just a "dash" of olive oil can help. I avoid the so called "diet dressings" at a salad bar because they just don't measure up to some "homemade" dressings I make when I'm being "real good" to myself. I'm going to have to take the time to make some and keep them on hand to "take with me" when I'm getting treated for dinner.

emoticon I've never been much of an early to bed person - more of night owl most of my life. Going to bed early tonight though, and hope I can get some decent sleep! emoticon

We had a busy day, shopping at Costco and Walmart! My tracker did not track my steps, I am thinking because I was pushing the cart. So presently I am showing 5,937. I told Darryl he gets to push the cart from now on. We both worked in the garden for a bit in the afternoon and I got a quick 10 minute walk emoticon in. I did walk in place last night and got my steps up over 7,000. I will try to do the same tonight.

My food today was out of line in fat again. I just can't seem to get my fat down. Today We had salad bar emoticon and the dressing added 16 grams of fat. My total calories for the day are 1,380. My Fat=42%, Carbs= 34% and Protein=24%

Sounds like PT is going well. Sorry that you did not sleep well emoticon . Hope you can get into a better sleep pattern at some point. Darryl and I try to head for bed at 9pm every night.

Take care emoticon

emoticon Didn't get to my gig until 7 pm last night since Norm had to wait for the garage door repairman. Of course it was the largest door that broke it's spring, then some tube also buckled. The repairman was back today and will have to return again tomorrow. What a mess especially since Norm has been using the garage to sort through storage stuff that he has unloaded from a 40' trailer he is in the process of selling. One of his "paring down" projects he wanted to get done before we go on vacation April. We're going to Pismo Beach which is not far from Hearst Castle.
emoticon Went to my 3rd PT this afternoon and did another 10 minutes on the recumbent bike after my 10 scheduled exercises + a new one today. Not quite as strong today since I only had about 3-1/2 hours of sleep last night because of foot/ankle/leg cramps most of the night. Finally dozed off to sleep about 5 am only to have to get up by 7 am.
emoticon Had to do chores here & my apartment (up & down stairs 4 times) before I left for a Board Meeting at 10 am, then went to the bank and Post Office. Unfortunately, by the time I had left the Post Office and stopped at my apartment again, I discovered I had lost my pedometer. So... I retraced my steps back in the apartment, to the PO, the bank, and the BC library where we had the Board meeting ~ thankfully someone had turned it in to the desk there ~ yea! Then I had to rush thru traffic to get back to the valley and to my therapy session. Needless to say, as of now my steps show as 3156.... yet there are probably another 2000 I should add with all of my "re-tracking" to find the pedometer!! LOL No wonder I'm hurting right now. Ice packs tonight!!
Another busy day tomorrow.... Sleep tight! emoticon

I spent the day with my folks. Not much time for exercise although I did get up and walk when I could. My emoticon are at 5,125. I need to spend about 10 minutes walking in place to burn calories and get my steps up.

We had breakfast at the casino which I did not plan on. My total calories are above the allowed calories for my activity. And the casino food is full of fat. emoticon Total calories=1,808; Fat=41, Carbs=38, Protein=21.

I am going to try to walk tomorrow to get my activity for the week up. We are going to Costco in the morning and I will try to take a walk in the afternoon. Between the two I should be able to reach 10,000 steps.

Got to go!

emoticon and cold wind!

Today was another indoor day, the wind was to chilly to be out except for necessary tasks. We did go to Lowe's so I got 15 minutes of walking in. My total steps emoticon at this time are 6,141.

My food was planned well for today but Darryl wanted Burger King for lunch so again, I am high in fat. I choose small burger emoticon and fries, I should have skipped the fries, they were not worth the calories. The burger had lettuce, tomato and pickles so I got a veggie serving with it. My total calories for the day are 1,698; Fat=35%, Carbs=47% and Protein=18%.

My emoticon this morning was 185.2, a slight move down.

Tomorrow will be spent with the folks!

We had snow in the morning then sunshine and then snow off and on throughout the day. The wind was blowing so it was going sideways, could hardly see the house next door. We had a quiet day inside, we watched a movie emoticon and I did a bit of house work. I worked at getting steps emoticon in and did take a 10 minute walk when the sun was shining. My total steps for the day are 5,259 and I will work on getting that up to 7,000.

I had a lot of snacking today and had a taco salad emoticon with cheese and chips for lunch so my fat was high again. Total calories for the day are1,714; fat=37, Carbs=43, and Protein=21.

Glad to hear you are getting around better. emoticon Where are you going in April?

Take care and have a great week! emoticon

Wow! 2 days of 50 points within 5 days!

emoticon Howdy! Sorry I couldn't post for the last week because I didn't have computer access when I was pet sitting. They had changed their password for the internet and forgot to tell me. I thought my laptop was screwy!! Got home Friday nite for just this weekend. Going back tomorrow until the 21st but I'll be checking my place occasionally since I have a couple of appointments near home during my gig.
emoticon Looks like you're tracking well, and busy as ever.
emoticon emoticon Can't believe this weather lately. I have to pack for every season.... It's going to be windy and cold (at least for us in the high 50's) tomorrow and then by Saturday it's supposed to be in the low 80's!! Winter to Summer in 5 days!
emoticon Should be able to start swimming this weekend which should help my recovery. I'll be having physical therapy 3 times a week for the next two weeks. Last week I had only 2 because they were overbooked. Last Thursday (#2) I did the 10 exercises the therapist showed me the 1st time on Tuesday (also doing them between appointments). Then I asked if I could do more, like the bicycle perhaps? She said I could start at 5-7 minutes but I upped it to 10 minutes. Granted, I was a little sore that nite... I also had just over 4400 steps that day too! But, I took it easier the next day - exercises but not too many steps. Saturday I had 5164 steps! Today I'm going to have a little rest. Alternating the days seems to help me recover without too much pain. I'm trying to not take Aleve except after my more"strenuous" days before I go to bed along with my ice pack of course.
emoticon So, I think I'm progressing well so far... anxious to walk the beach in April with my Honey! It is just around the bend... we are leaving April 7th thru the 16th with 4 other couples and 6 kids ranging from 8 thru 16 (the two girls I sit for and 4 teenage boys I don't know yet). Should be lots of fun!

emoticon I'll be posting this month but may not be able to on our trip in April. We'll see...
Hope you two had a nice weekend!

emoticon and windy!

Stayed home and stayed in. The wind started at 9:00am and is finally started to calm down. Did a dance video this morning for some exercise, it was fun but my knee wasn't cooperating. I danced again this afternoon for a few minutes emoticon Total steps at this time are 6,087, as always I will try to get to at least 7,000 before bed!

Food was a little high on fat, we had tacos for dinner. My calories are 1,502; Fat=38, Carbs=45 and Protein=18.

All for now, hope all is well with you!

The weather is changing again, wind and snow on the way! It was 54 today, so nice and I had to be inside with the folks

I went to the grocery store after I took the folks home, bad day, social security checks arrived for the old and sick in Dayton. The store was crowded and hard to get around. I don't have a lot of steps, I think my tracker wasn't working. I was in the grocery store from 3-4 but I only have 181 steps for the hour. My total steps for the day are 3,891. I will have to work to get some more steps in.

My food for the day was good, I had a healthy low-fat breakfast and had a light lunch, we had baked fish, emoticon brown rice and green beans for dinner so my calories for today are low 1,250 and within the recommended guidelines; Fat=30%, Carbs=50% and Protein=20.

I am hoping to get up and out to the garden emoticon before the wind starts tomorrow so I can get some exercise. Going to turn the soil in the beds and put compost on top.

Hope you have a great weekend!

I took a walk yesterday with my neighbor that was about 2 miles. It felt good to get out and stretch my legs. My total steps for yesterday were 12,418 emoticon I spent the day with the folks in the casino so I struggled to get me steps in. I am at 4,122 currently.

My calories for today are 1,702; Fat=39, Carbs=42, Protein=19. We had breakfast at the casino so it was high in fat and carbs. emoticon emoticon

Got to get a grocery list put together now so I can shop tomorrow. Trying to plan meals and balance out my diet, I'm getting better but still need to really focus.

Have a great weekend!!!

I spent most of the day with the folks, took dad to two appointments and then we went to lunch and then had some play time. I left them at the casino and I went to buy their groceries for them. I did not go to my daughters tonight as we will be having dinner with them tomorrow.

Darryl and I watched the president address tonight and were very impressed by the change in presentation. Hopefully he can get our Senate and Congress to work together. I did not listen to the full speech of the Democratic Response, just their usual liberal rhetoric.

Got to get my tracking finished!

We had a sunny but cold day. Darryl and I both worked outside; he is almost finished with the neighbors fence. I cleaned up the emoticon chicky girls coop and yard and put fresh straw down for them in the coop. I worked in the garden for a while and watered the dirt where I planted emoticon daffodils that are starting to come up, I have seen 2 of the 50 I planted. Hopefully they will all come up, that would make me very happy emoticon My steps emoticon at this point are 8,240 and I have 18 minutes of exercise which I will add to because I was outside for over 2 hours. My tracker only tracks constant movement, not all activity.

I had a protein shake for breakfast to try to boost my protein. We had the remainder of the pot roast for dinner and it shows 40grams of fat, I don't think that is correct. As a result my Fat=37, Carbs=37, Protein=26, total calories ae 1,685.

My weight this mornings was 184.9, not much change but a little.

Hope you got all your computer work done!

emoticon A dark, cloudy day so far this morning, but no rain here, yet.
emoticon emoticon My goodness, gal... you are the busy one - not me! I marvel at all of your ambitious, hard work on the ranch and in the kitchen with all of your canning, etc.!
emoticon Getting some computer stuff done today, here at home so I can print the reports and be ready for BCRW Board Meeting. Even though I had some letters on a flash drive, Norm wouldn't let me use his computer to print. Supposedly, three years ago a former girlfriend screwed up his computer, so he doesn't let anyone use it besides himself. Oh well....
Got to get back to work since I only have today and will be leaving tomorrow am for the next 3 weeks except for a couple of days maybe this weekend. Will try to post tomorrow.
emoticon By the way, I didn't lose much... just 2 pounds since 2/8. emoticon
Hopefully the next 3 weeks by myself I'll be able to control things better along with working at physical therapy.

Have a good week! emoticon emoticon

We had another busy day on the ranch, Darryl was putting a fence in for the new neighbors and I spent about an hour cleaning up tumbleweeds; I got plenty of exercise today. My steps emoticon at this time are 8,883, I have a total of 51 minutes exercise showing on my tracker but I know it was more than that. Still going to try to get more steps in before bedtime.

I made 2 loaves of bread emoticon today, one to share with our new neighbors. I made a pot of Lentil soup for our dinner with the bone broth I made yesterday, it was very yummy and it should be enough left over for a few lunches this week. My foods were much better today, Fat=34, Carbs=46, Protein=20 and total calories are at 1,112.

My plan is to emoticon in the morning if I don't forget.

Sounds like you have a very busy schedule, be careful to not over do it!

emoticon Still cool here but only a little snow yesterday in the mountains. Wow! You two are ambitious, making all of your homemade dog food and such. You are truly becoming, more and more, self sustaining on your Double D ranch!

emoticon After Norm, Cokie and I had a sushi lunch and then made a trip to Walmart, I'm finally home for 3... maybe 2 nights before I go on my pet-sitting gig. Then I'll be home again Friday nite, Saturday and maybe Sunday before I go back for the long gig until the 22nd. I'm just keeping everything packed and ready to go.

emoticon 'm going to weigh-in tomorrow am and see how I did for the last 18 days...

How you had a good weekend!

We started the morning with snow falling for 2 hours. It eventually warmed up to 39 so I did get some outside to turn the compost pile, getting ready to put some on my garden beds...maybe tomorrow weather permitting. I have lots to do outside but I also had lots to do inside today.

I made a batch of dog food, then put a pot roast on to cook and I have a pot of bone broth simmering on the stove. I cleaned the bathrooms and did two loads of laundry. Tomorrow I have to make cookies for Darryl and I am going to make bread and soup emoticon .

My steps emoticon for the day are presently 5,806. I will work on getting them up to 7,000.

My food is way off, I made artichokes with our pot roast and between the butter on my potatoes and carrots, the mayonnaise and the horseradish sauce my fats shot way up. Fat=56, Carbs=22, Protein =22; total calories for the day are 1,855. YIKES!! emoticon

Glad you are getting into physical therapy, it should help. Hope your Sunday is swell!

Ended up that I drove myself to the doc's office since Norm had to drive his friend to the other end of LV for an 8:00 am doctor appt. and he definitely is unable to drive.

emoticon Didn't use the walker until I got home because it was a long day starting out by 8:00 am. Yes,I did okay and doc said I'm on my way towards healing. Starting physical therapy Tuesday, 2-3 times a week for 6 weeks. Looking forward to it since it is not far from my house/pet sitting gig in March. so for 2-1/2 weeks I'll be able to go 3 times a week. Next follow-up is March 31st. Doc said most of the meniscus damage was on the inside or left side of my right knee. Bone on bone in the center and less damage on the outside of my knee. By the time I ran a couple errands on the way home (I did stop at home to pick up my mail and I did go one step at a time up to my apartment to water my plants - not too bad so I'll be heading home Sat. or Sun.), went to the store for MO's, Post Office and then back to Norm's I racked up almost 3000 steps. Not bad, but a little sore - we'll see how I sleep tonight. Heading for the sack now... emoticon

I spent the day with my folks at the casino, I did get my steps in, the only hour I missed was the one driving home. I took at 10 minute walk emoticon . Total steps at this point are 4,364, as usual I will try to bring that up to 7,000 while we watch a movie.

My food was a little off, I had leftover coconut milk emoticon in my coffee this morning so that increased my fat. I also had home fries with my breakfast. Total Fats=39, Carbs=42, Protein=18; total calories for the day are 1,518.

Hope the doctor had good news for you. Have a great weekend!

We had snow emoticon again this morning, the high for the day was 36 degrees. I took a 15 minute walk this morning while my parents were getting the hairs cut. My total steps at this time are 6,157, as always I will try to get to 7,000 before the night is over.

My food was a little out of alignment. I had a cup of hot chocolate emoticon in the afternoon that added to my carbs and fat. My Fat=32, Carbs=52 and Protein=16, total calories are 1,639 a little above what I want but below calories allowed for activity.

I am trying to go wheat free to see if that will help my achy joints, runny nose and brain fog. I have not had wheat since Tuesday so it will take about a week to see if it makes a difference.

Let me know your status after the stiches are removed, hope your knee pain is much less going forward. emoticon

How is Lake Mead doing, is it filling up ? I don't know if you have been getting the same amount of rain we have. Lake Lahontan is filling up and it is visible from the road now. emoticon We are so glad to have water back in our local lakes.

emoticon Figured you guys would be getting snow, especially since down here we're 10+ degrees colder than we should be... Brr-rr-rr! Our highs are in the low 50's and we're in the high 30's/low 40's at night for the last two nights. It may get into the low 60's by Saturday and expecting rain on Sunday I think.
emoticon Tomorrow I get the stitches out and finally see the doc on the follow-up since my op on the 9th. Can't wait to see what he has lined up for Physical Therapy. I've been doing exercises 3 times a day and every time I'm out with the dog I do some more. Trying to at least do something every hour even if it is just doing foot circles and leg lifts.

We woke up to about 1/4 of snow this morning. It was cold all day with a very cold wind!

Darryl and I took a trip to Lowes to pick up some fencing materials; he is going to put a fence around the neighbors yard. I took a walk in Lowes while he was waiting for the order. My steps for the day at this time are 6,664, I hope to get a few more in before bedtime.

My food for the day was high on fat and carbs, we had salad bar lunch again, the only protein they had was ham and cottage cheese. I also had cottage cheese for breakfast. My Fat=40, my Carbs=41 and Protein=18. I tracked my food or yesterday, Fat=46, Carbs=37 and Protein=17. We had breakfast at the Casino and I had cheese and nuts with dried fruit for my lunch. It is hard when I am out and about. I cooked tacos for dinner for my daughter. Need to plan my meals and make some protein bars to take with me.

I agree, a high protein diet is best. I am starting to get my diet back into focus and planning my meals so hopefully I will improve in this area.

Hope your knee is better and you are able to walk more!

emoticon Windy, sunny but getting cooler for us... high today 65 but tomorrow & Friday expecting high in the low 50's - Brr-rr-r!

emoticon I've been trying to stay below 1500 calories per day also... but I also have higher protein than what you have been tracking. I try to hit 40 carbs, 30 fats, and 30 protein. It is based on a diet plan which I followed that seems to work for me in the past. The higher protein makes me less "hungry" and gives me a little more energy.

I'll be better tracking at home soon since I have a little more control on the menu. emoticon

It was raining when we got up and it is still raining. I can sure feel it in my joints....

My emoticon was the same as last week, 185.

Darryl and I had to drive emoticon into Carson to pick up some items not available locally. After that we went for haircuts and then lunch. I spent most of my day sitting, when we got home I sat down and only got up when I needed to; needless to say my steps emoticon at this point are 2,853. I'll get more steps in as it is still early but we are going to watch a movie so more inactivity. Darryl said it is ok to take a day off now and then and I guess I needed this one.

My food was balanced and I did go under my calorie allowance for my activity. My Fat=29, Carbs=47 and Protein=24.

I took a walk around the yard when I got home to get a few more steps in. My total steps at this time are 5,135. I am going to do some emoticon walking in place while we watch a movie tonight.

My food for the day is almost balanced, Fat=34, Carbs=47, Protein=19. I forgot to weigh emoticon when I got up this morning so I will try to remember to do so in the morning. I will continue to track because it does make me conscience of my calorie consumption, I try to stay at 1500 calories or less each day. I still need to exercise more rather than depending on my daily chores to burn the calories.

Take care of yourself and keep moving forward!

Sunny this am but now it's dark clouds again.... Whew! What a week CA has had with all of the rain, sink holes, mud slides.... Good thing you went when you did because you surely wouldn't have enjoyed this week. emoticon

emoticon I weighed myself this am on Norm's scale, think I have lost but to get a "true accounting" I'll have to wait until I get home and use my scale. When I weighed in before my operation on the 9th I was 4 pounds less than I was at home about 5 days earlier. So many scales, and so many different results.
emoticon My split pea soup was too thick because Norm's crock pot is smaller than mine and I couldn't add much broth. As far as I'm concerned, I like the "concentrated" left overs because I can add more broth & veggies then add a scoop of the pea soup. "Not perfect enough" for Norm though.

emoticon Norm's daughter Melissa will be here anytime now on the way back from CA to CO. She'll be staying the night and take off again tomorrow am. Gives me a chance to get to know her a little bit. Nice!

Got to get a load out of the washer before Norm gets back from errands and Melissa gets here.

Have a good week!

Glad you feel you are making progress. Our knees a such a vital part, it's tuff when we don't have full mobility. emoticon

I started my day inside. I baked a batch of cookies for Darryl emoticon and a batch of cookies for Max emoticon . I helped Darryl with some outside chores and I trimmed a few trees. We are heading to the folks house tomorrow to trim their fruit trees. emoticon my steps for the day are 6,077 steps so far.

I ate a lot of carbs today and because we worked all day we opted for pizza emoticon and a salad for dinner. My Fat=34, Carbs=49 and Protein=17. I was just below the minimum calories for my activity.

I will weigh in the morning. emoticon

emoticon Moving around a little better each day. Night is when I feel the most throbbing, usually waking me up around 12:30-1:00 am. Before I go to bed I use an ice pack an hour or two before, but by 1 am I need another one. Last night was the first night I didn't need it in the middle of the night. Progress I guess. I'm weaning myself off the walker as much as possible, but if I've been standing too long or sitting too long, I need it for a few steps then I'm okay without it. Just have to have it handy "in case."

You know you're getting stronger, when you're able to get up and down without much assistance, but stairs are another thing (haven't attempted, just the curb and one step to the porch). I'm doing some exercises three times a day and each day they've been better - stronger and more balance.

emoticon Making a crock pot of split pea/vegetable soup today. With all of the rain (not a lot, just a constant drizzle and gloomy) a bowl of soup will hit the spot! Tomorrow is supposed to be partly sunny.

emoticon Looks like you are doing well on your tracking. I'll do more tracking especially when I get home, but I know I haven't been too bad since I'm not really hungry and sticking to eggs, chicken, veggies and apples with a little carbs (tortilla) occasionally. Although, I did have a piece of red velvet cake (split into two days) from my BCRW luncheon Thursday. emoticon

Hope you two are having a cozy weekend! emoticon

I took my folks out to play and to have breakfast emoticon emoticon at the casino. I skipped the home fries and saved about 350 calories. My food for the day was a little more balanced. My fat=34, carbs=48 and protein=18. My total calories for the day were less than the minimum allowed for the day.

My exercise was walking emoticon during the day and I took a 10 minute walk when I got home. My total steps for the day are 5,425 at this time.

Hope you are getting better each day emoticon

I spent the day with the folks so I did not get a lot of walking time. I did do mom's grocery shopping so I got steps emoticon at the store. I also walked every hour to get my minimum of 250 steps. My total steps for the day at this time are 6,171.

My food was a little high on fat and carbs again, the breakdown is Fat=34, Carbs=53 and Protein=13. My calories were below the minimum for my exercise today so I am hoping by the end of the week I will see the scale go down a bit.

Sorry that things aren't good for you right now... Are you feeling any better physically?

Norm was busy Valentine's Day with Norm's daughter here. But, I was holding down the fort. She left this morning for the dog show in CA. My nephew Jamie and Denise (niece-in-law) picked me up (while Norm was at the dog groomers) for brunch at the Coffee Cup (same place we went to when you were here 2 Decembers ago - wow, doesn't seem that long...). At least I had a couple good hours with them before Jamie had to pick up Joe at the Convention in LV and then head home to Phoenix. They had a dinner they had to get back to at 7:00 pm (AZ time). I hope they made it. Again, Norm avoided meeting someone from my family and friends. (He did the same thing with Kathy & Bill at Christmas and another time in January.) emoticon
emoticon Norm and I are on some "shaky" ground lately. He is very bull headed at times and just doesn't seem to know when to let things go and then "go on." He thought I was "avoiding him" the last "6 weeks" (more like only 4 weeks), even though I told him that I was trying to get everything done and cleared away so I could be with him during "recuperation." I'm very disheartened. I don't know whether we will be able to "weather this storm...." Time will tell I guess....

Take care you two! Thanks for letting me let off some steam.

emoticon

We started the morning with working outside, I watered the garden emoticon and did a little early season prep then I had to bottle up a new bag of emoticon chicken feed. It was a nice day to be outside. More rain emoticon forecast for tomorrow. My steps for the day at this point =6,557.

We headed into Dayton in the afternoon do a little shopping and had beer and pizza emoticon with my brother. My calories are below the minimum allotted for the amount of exercise I did today. The calorie breakdown is Fat=38%, Carbs=46% , and protein=16%.

Trying to stay accountable! Hope you are feeling better!

emoticon Glad you are back on line! The pain gets better as you heal... Try putting your pedometer in your pocket, it will get the motion of your hip movement.

We had an active day, I did laundry and housework then we headed into Fernley for shopping and lunch. We parked at one end of Lowes and walked to the other end so I got lots of emoticon steps in there and then at Walmart. My total steps for today at this time are 8,149 emoticon I was hoping to get to 10,000 but it is too late now.

My food for the day was below the minimum calories allowed for my activity. My Fat=40%, Carbs=47% and Protein+=13%. I had salad bar emoticon lunch so there was not a lot of protein but lots of fiber.

Darryl bought me a new silver chain and I bought him 2 new shirts for emoticon Valentine Day gift.

Hope you had a love filled day emoticon

emoticon Happy Valentine's Day, you two love birds!

emoticon Hobbling along okay... some throbbing pain occasionally. Just nursing it along. Doing some minimal exercises and walking around the house and yard. Went out to dinner last night with Norm, his daughter Melissa & Gant (her hubby).

I have my Republican Women's luncheon on Thursday. I know I'll have to keep myself from "overdoing" but don't want to get to lazy either! Norm is constantly making me :slow down." I'm just impatient because I had hoped that I wouldn't have so much pain sometimes.

Sounds like you two are back in the groove at home again. Are you getting an appointment for your right knee soon?

I'm getting back to my tracking again. Because of the walker, my pedometer doesn't seem to log the steps I'm taking. Hopefully soon I won't need the walker. My follow-up is on Friday the 24th. We'll see what the doc prescribes for Physical Therapy.

Take care. Enjoy a little Valentine treat! emoticon

My food was a little out of balance, we went out to breakfast emoticon emoticon which was high on the carbs and fats. My Protein=17%, Carbs=43% and Fats=40%. My calories for the day were less than the minimum on the tracker.

Hope you are healing quickly and are staying on track with your eating!

My food for the day was balanced, Proteins = 24%, Carbs=53% and Fat=23%. My calories were below my minimum for the day.

For exercise I took a walk emoticon around the block at my folks house, it was nice to be outside today. My steps at this time are 5,469 and as I did yesterday I will try to get more steps in while we watch a movie.

Hope you are healing quickly emoticon

I made Chef Megs Tuna Noodle casserole for dinner tonight, it was very yummy and Darryl liked it too! My food for the day is mostly balanced, 26 protein, 42 carbs and 32 fat.

I was busy cooking today, I made a shrimp omelet for breakfast, a loaf of bread, a birthday cake emoticon and the casserole for dinner so I did not get as much exercise as I usually do on the weekend. We are having a birthday celebration for my sister and brother tomorrow. Unfortunately the cake is a bit lopsided; it is 3 layers. I have coconut pecan frosting between the layers.

I did get out in the yard to the garden to fertilized the garlic, emoticon spinach and onion but it was cold so I retreated to the house. The veggies all look like they are surviving the cold weather, the rain was good for them. I took a short walk so I did get some exercise minutes today; my steps emoticon for the day are 5,757. I will try walking while we watch a movie to get them up to 7,000.

Hope you are feeling better and are not in too much pain! emoticon

Another day with my parents and rain emoticon so I could not go out to walk. I did take time to walk inside but not enough to count as exercise. My steps at this time are 5,117, not a stellar day emoticon

My food was high on carbs, protein was at 20% and fat at 18%. I ate a small bag of M&Ms peanuts candy. emoticon

The Carson river is flooding again, expected to crest at 11.5 feet, flood stage is 11 feet. We are far enough away that it does not effect us. The lake is filling up, which is great. We'll be able to go fishing emoticon this summer!

Hope your healing process is going well and you are back on your feet soon! Glad you have someone to take care of you during recovery!

I spent the day with my folks, as a result I didnt get much walking in. My steps are at 3, 965. I am going to start some steps when I am finished tracking.

My food was high on the fats side, I ate some roasted almonds for lunch and some cheese with dinner.

Best wishes for your surgery. I hope you will be back walking again soon!

Got my steps up to 6,215, 22 minutes of walking! Going to bed emoticon

I got most of my steps emoticon today at Walmart and Lowes. I also got some trying to roundup the chicky girls, they did not want to go back into the yard. My steps at this time are 5,134, not enough so I will probably walk in place while we watch a movie.

My food for the day is low on calories, my food is mostly balanced with more carbs and less protein. I made homemade chicken soup and bread for our dinner, it was yummy emoticon

Sorry to hear about losing a tree, emoticon but glad Norm is able to plant another. emoticon

I was able to get 30 minutes walking time emoticon in today between the raindrops and the wind. My food was in line and almost balanced, just a little high on the fat.

In answer to your question, my knee pain is in my right knee, my left knee is the replacement. I had x-rays last July emoticon and they said that I am almost bone on bone in my right knee. I can go in and get a cortisone shot every 4 months but I did not think to do it before the trip. I will do it before we go to Napa in May.

Getting old seems to have more disadvantages than advantages! emoticon

Have a great Wednesday!

emoticon Thanks for your input about the arthroscopy... I was concerned that the "cushion" would be depleted. I just hope I don't need the knee replacement later. It's good to be home. We got everything put away and the laundry done. We did the grocery shopping today as well.

We intended to walk but with dust and sand blowing from the 40mph winds we decided to play it safe.

I had orthroscopic surgery on my knee 3 years before I had my full knee replacement...it did not help. I had a torn miniscus that they removed so I was bone on bone until the replacement surgery.

Hope you get all your tasks accomplished before your procedure.

2/5 = 50 points emoticon emoticon A good start to an "eventful" week coming up!
emoticon Hope you breezed through LA without too much problems this morning.
emoticon I ended up "kid-sitting" Saturday, so once again, not with Norm. Today cleaning and preparing for next week, finishing work, preparing for Board Meeting Tuesday... busy day while listening to the Super Bowl in the background.
emoticon The procedure on Thursday is Knee Arthroscopy and should take 30 - 60 minutes only. Recovery is debatable, depending on how well I heal, 3 to 6 weeks? Didn't you say that you had this done on one of your knees? Or, did you have a knee replacement?
emoticon I'll keep in touch.

We will be returning emoticon home on Sunday morning. We have all the unnecessary items packed. We hope to get on the road around 6:00am to get through LA before the freeways backup. The weather reports shows sunshine emoticon for our drive home. We are looking forward to being home but we will miss the ability to get out and walk emoticon and the warmer weather; there are so many obstacles to walking at home. My steps for the day are 12,177 at this point, almost 5 miles.

I have tracked my food today, I am at the top of my calories for the day, and my food was a little high on the carb size.

Hopefully you are snuggling in your honeys arms this weekend. Good luck with your knee next weekend, what type of procedure are you having done?

We walked emoticon on the beach this morning to collect river rock, shells emoticon and driftwood. Darryl is going to make something out of all that we collected. We went to the Outlet Stores to do a little shopping, I bought a new hat and a couple of t-shirts. We finished the day with a walk on the beach to watch the sunset. My total steps for the day at this time are 11,530. My knees are pretty worn out from the weeks activities. I think I am going to schedule to get a cortisone shot before our next trip.

We had fresh fruit emoticon and toast for breakfast; we went to Soup Plantation and had a great salad emoticon and some soup for lunch. Dinner was a hot dog at the Bon Voyage party. I did not track my calories again.

Going to watch a movie so I will sign-off!

We drove emoticon up to Rancho Cucamonga to visit friends today. We had a healthy lunch at Panera Bread with one of my good friends. I have not tracked my food yet.

My steps emoticon for the day are 6059, I dont think I will get many more. I got over 15,000 yesterday. My knees needed the rest today, I'm hoping I can walk tomorrow. We have enjoyed walking so much. I am heading for the beach emoticon in the morning to stick put my toe in the water for you.

Now I am going to get ready for bed. emoticon

emoticon Sounds like you're getting a lot of steps in each day. Worried about your knee... hope you get it checked when you get home. Take care!
emoticon 'Been working hard this week and getting a lot done. Unfortunately, Norm is not quite as understanding. I need to get certain things done before the end of the week or I may not get paid. I really need the income, especially now. Oh well, perhaps I'll be able to soothe the "ruffled feathers" soon.
emoticon Enjoy your day!

Another busy day. We did not go down to the beach today, my knee was hurting so I didn't want to walk on the sand, we walked along the walk above the beach. emoticon , I have 14,398 steps at this point in the day.

My calories are in line today. We did take out dinner tonight, the restaurant servings are enough for two so we chose to eat "at home" and split the meal and we added a bottle of red wine emoticon so it was quite nice.

I agree with you, living in CA is challenging for a senior on SS, that is why I moved to NV when I retired.

Glad to see you posting!

emoticon Hope you stuck your foot in the ocean for me! I miss being near the ocean so much. How I ended up in the desert I still can't fathom sometimes. Unfortunately, CA has become a state which is too expensive and intolerable to live in with all of it's "pc-laws." So it will remain as a place to visit and not live in, a real shame since my Dad was born and raised there and only a cousin and her family still lives there. Still the natural beauty of the state is not to be missed. Enjoy!
