I finally finished War and Peace at the beginning of August after planning to get around to it for years. Once I got into it I found it much easier to read than I'd expected. And it's a great story, definitely worth the effort don't you think?

It's the 4th in the Fever series. I love the main character Mac, and think this series is far Superior to her Highlander series. Though I liked the Highlander series and have read all those.

Yes it does pick up and I think it's one of her best books. Lestat is my favorite, (next book in the vampire series. After Queen of the Damn the the books get flakier and flakier as they go but I still enjoyed them overall. Unfortunately the witch series doesn't cross over until much later in the series so you have a ways to go.

"Dawn: I've read the 1st chapter of Interview with Vampire and couldn't continue. Thought it dragged too much. Does it pick up pace?? I hope so! My DD and I were really looking forward to reading it because I've read her Witch series and saw they were connected. But oh my goodness, that 1st chapter is as boring as an 'interview'. ;)

Hi Diane. I think if you found the 1st chapter of Interview with the Vampire boring you probably wouldn't like the rest. I guess we all like different books. I can never get past chapter 1 of anything by James A Michener!

I'll be interested to hear what you think of War of the Worlds - that's in my "to read" pile.

Oh my, Delilah, has a book? TooTall, thanks for the info.
Finished Change of Heart, finally. The last fifty pages were great; but it's not worth trudging through the first 300, in my opinion.
Started Life Support by Tess Gerritsen last night. It's a real page turner. I thought it was a Jane Rizzoli; but it's not.
Also hope to listen to Knit Two today.

Now I've started "Robinson Crusoe" by Daniel Defoe. Can't believe I've never read that one before.

I am still struggling with Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult. The religion aspect is bothersome to me and I think I'm disgusted with the point of views chapters. I really think that the format is detrimental for this story.

I've got my book group's next book on reserve at my local library. As soon as I get it, I'll be reading "Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd.

In the meantime I requested the first two books of a series from Bookins: "The Last Picture Show" and "Texasville" by Larry McMurtry.

I'm stuck on Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult and listening to Knit Two by Kate Jacobs. That one has to be at my mom's because we started on on road trip.

Currently reading M C Beaton's "Death of a Witch", A Hamish Macbeth Mystery. My TBR list is topped by "Fire and Ice" by J A Vance. Beaton's is first because it has to be returned to the library. Vance's book is from one of my book clubs.

Leota's Garden by Francine Rivers. I love the way the 85 year old grandmother is so real, alive, and feisty. The book is a little predictable for the young people's romances and struggles, but still a great read.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your srength and all your might. Love your neighbor as yourself.
