Morning all! Another week begins - let's make it great!

Got up and exercised this a.m. Really feeling good right now. Just got the kids in the shower and I'll be rushing around shortly getting ready for work.

Nera - sorry you still haven't had any luck finding a treadmill.

Jules - I'm always so leary of using supplements of any kind. Actually, I don't even like using tylenol or anything unless it's an absolute necessity for me. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

Annie - like your message on accountability! I know the feeling.

Blessings to everyone else!

Good Morning Ladies!
Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend. The cold and snow is back....ugh. Freezing temps out there again.
I will have to work long days (11 hours)today and tomarrow.

Annie- good to see you. I think we all get in a moode sometimes that we can't really explain. 1/2 marathon! way to go! I hope someday I am able to do something like that. I would be happy to do a 5K at this point.

Jules- I would be tempted as well... but then I hear so many bad things about those things... that I think I would not do it.

Kellianne- Glad to hear you mom is coming home. Hope she has a good recovery and no pnemonia.

Nera- hope the party was good

Wendy- Make sure you do not over do on your exercising. I know it is hard. But listen to your PT.

Kerrie, Lori, Katie, Speigy. Hi Hi Hi!

Have a marvelous monday all!

Hi All!

Sorry been mia..just haven't felt like being here for some reason or another.

EAS is a pretty reputable brand, with quite a bit of research behind it. I guess I would see what the ingredients are and read up on it.

I have been doing Herbalife for a couple of weeks and I just don't think the shake plan is my route to go. I actually entered my food in for today and my cals were under 800 for the day..I was like well no wonder I don't have any energy and I am hungry. So I think I may use the shakes for in between meals as a snack and leave it at that.

I did sign up for the half marathon in June - well signed up for the lottery will know by March 4th if I got it.

Need to check out the new posts here and sign up for some accountability and my other accountability for sure is to check in daily with you ladies!

Annie

Chuck them!!!!! That is a nasty road to go down even for just a bit. Who knows what are in those things. Plus most of the nutrition stores I have been in the people working there really don't know that much about nutrition. Or just what the company tells them to spout.

I know your tempted but people can have bad reactions to those herbal things. It just isn't worth it since you really don't know what they are or suppose to do.

Happy Sunday afternoon to all!

Kellianne - I'm so glad your mom is coming home. I hope all goes well and no pneumonia develops.

Nera - hope the party (and turkey) is going well!

Wendy - how is your dad doing?

Toni - great idea on the Accountability forum. I sent you a question about it in Sparkmail. I've got a lot to learn!!

Hello to Annie, Katie, Spiegy, Lori and anyone else I might have missed!

Well, yesterday afternoon I had this big whole entry typed, and tried to post it twice before realizing that my internet was down. So, it's lost. I remember one of the things I was going to say in it, and will get to that at the end of today's post.

Friday I had a good workout - 80 minutes of high cardio intensity Strength training (we included running stairs and half laps of the track in between lifting sets), and then 30 minutes of running on the treadmill.

Yesterday I did another 50 minutes running on the TM, 10 min warmup, 35 min run, 5 min cooldown. It was a pretty slow run and my HR never got out of the mid 140's. That's what I was aiming for though so it was good. I even managed not to kick the speed up when some lady who looks 15 years older than me got on the TM next to me and started running way faster. She didn't stay very long though... LOL

Ok, ladies - I've sort of done something, and I need to confess (sort of) and get your input. (This is the thing from yesterday's post I was talking about.)

Friday I noticed I was just really feeling worn out in my workout. It was a long one, and so I expected it, but my buddy Kelly gave me some of her "concoction" she always uses - a mix of creatinine, L-glutamine, betagen, etc. She rarely has lingering muscle soreness and has plenty of stamina for our long workouts. I know that most of the things she puts in there is stuff that my trainer Brad suggested to me too, and I DID used to use the Betagen for awhile, though it was expensive, and it helped. Anyway, Kelly gave me some of her stuff and I did notice that I picked up and was able to finish the workout.

SO, after we were done I went to the 'nutrition' store and got me a Betagen type thing (they didn't carry the EAS brand, which is the actual Betagen.) We got to talking about what I'm trying to do, and the difference between muscle-building and fat loss, and endurance stuff. ANYWAY, in the process of my making my purchases, he gave me some 'fat burner' samples. I didn't think twice about it till I got it home and looked at it.

There are two samples, and each sample has two capsules in them. I don't really know what they are, but I got a little concerned when I saw on the cover that they "contain no ephedra". All of a sudden I thought "Oh MY - are these WEIGHT LOSS PILLS?!?!?" I've never taken them in my life, though I've been tempted.

I've really been frustrated because of all my working out and such monumentally slow, to no, loss. I doubt I'd ever buy these things, but I'm really tempted to take them just this week to see if anything happens in my next weigh-in. The instructions on the package say to take one at breakfast and one at lunch, which would be 2 days worth - I was thinking of maybe just taking one a day, so essentially half the dose, for 4 days.

So, what do you think? Should I take them? Should I take them as directed, or half the dosage (being a smaller statured woman)? Should I toss them in the trash? What would YOU do??

Happy Sunday all...a brief break before I'm off to the next thing. Already worked at church and helped coordinate a luncheon for our volunteers. Next is off to a bowling fundraiser.

My mom is getting home from the hospital today. Thanks to those of you who said you were praying. They are still going to monitor her very closely because there is some fear of pneumonia developing.

Nera - hope the party goes well.

Toni - thanks for the info on the new thread. I'll have to check it out when I have a few extra minutes. I loved when we did the walking challenge in the 40's group. That was a great way to challenge myself and be accountable at the same time. So, I'm looking forward to checking this out!

Later!

Good morning everyone. The hubby did wake up and put the turkey in. About 45 minutes later than it should have been. Let's hope I don't have 15 people hanging around today waiting for this thing to get done. LOL!!!

I slept in and now am getting last minute chores done. I will do my exercise tonight after people leave. Probably while watching the Amazing race.

Good Morning Annie, Jules, Kerrie, Kellianne, Katie, Lori, Nera, Speigy, Wendy!!!
Hope everyones weekend is going well. I didn't end up working yesterday which was a nice suprise, so did the shopping and cleaned some of the house. I will finish up some paperwork this morning. Didn't get in any exercise yesterday though... my leg was hurting. Hubby has this cool machine the doctors gave him that pulsates hot and cold water, so you alter the heat and cold packs while it kinda massages the area at the same time. I put it on a couple time yesterday and it really helped. We have snow on the ground again this morning... after the beautiful spring like weather all week last week. I will get on the TM today and do some ST. I need to go get a new printer. Mine is old and just not working they way it should. I have other printers but not all in ones... and I really need all the functions. So will probably do that today as well.
I seem to be doing alot of rambling this morning.
I am ready to get this body moving, amazing what an extra hour of sleep will do for you...LOL
I need help. Everyday I wake up with best intentions.. and seems everyday I blow it in one way or the other... Can you all hold me accountable? I need to get back to it and stay with it. I know I can do it. I did it before with the help of all of you. I will post my numbers everyday. I will start a thread for it. Anyone else that wants to join me is more than welcome.
Have a Supurb Sunday all!

*******TMI ALERT**********

Later in the morning I took another potty break and I was tempted to weigh myself again. But I resisted. I don't know if it is the scale or not. The hubby wants to buy an expensive one but I am not sure they are all that much more reliable. When I put a known weight on this scale(like handweights)it weighs them correctly.

All I can do is keep on plugging away. I had an offer on a treadmill but it looked in worse shape than what I all ready have.

I made the mistake of having some Mello Yellow pop with lunch. Now I have a killer headache. I don't think I am use to the caffenine.

Neraus, obviously your scale is malfunctioning. Either that or it has been taken over by evil forces!

Don't worry, the numbers will come back down. No way could that be real weight gain, any more than the 3.2 I gained a few weeks ago was real. Hang in there!

I knew weigh in this week might be rough but really 3.2 pounds????!!!! I don't believe it. This is water retention or poo retention or something. I didn'g gain this much over xmas. I was so close to being back under 180. My exercise this week was good and food due to special k bars was a bit high. But not 3.2 pounds high. Again I state there is no way that is an actual weight gain it just can't be. The number of calories I would have had to eat to do that would be almost impossible. SIGH!!!!!!

Hello Ladies! Sorry for being MIA the last two days. Like Wendy, I've been on a bit of a rollercoaster ride with a parent and medical issues. Watching your parents suffer is not fun. I didn't get my workouts in the last two days and I've been much grumpier for it. Did manage a little play time on the Wii...helped relieve a little stress too and a walk for the dogs today, but I'm hoping to get a decent walk or workout in tomorrow assuming I don't have to return to the hospital for my mom.

Sounds like everyone is staying busy. Sorry not to comment on the posts, but I did read through and I'm thinking of each of you!

The snow is finally melting a little bit--it was in the 40s today. Of course, there's a chance of snow showers every day next week, but also some rain, so hopefully we'll end up with a net loss of snow. And there's only 29 days until Spring!

I got yelled at yesterday by my PT for overdoing it. So I had a rest day today on his orders. It was kind of nice actually, becuase I got out of work late, and I had Praise Team practice tonite, so I had to squeeze in dinner and at least a little rest time between them.

But it really was a good day. And tomorrow I'll go back to the gym, but not overdo it. I think I'll try 15 minutes on the bike at the same intensity and see how that goes, and then do my usual 30 minutes on the elliptical.

We've had a real emotional roller coaster with my Dad (as I posted on the "Best and Worst" thread. But it all seems to be OK, at least for now. He's scheduled to start home dialysis Thursday or Friday night next week. I've been on my knees since yesterday when he called to say there were problems. But by God's grace, all is well today.

Tomorrow I'm going to a Casting Crowns concert with my daughter and a friend from church and her daughter (who's close to my age). We've gone to lots of concerts together and we always have a great time. We even got floor seats! Woohoo!! We are bringing our dinner to eat when we get there around 6pm, and I am having the first sandwich I've eaten in almost 2 months! Since I rarely eat wheat, sandwiches aren't part of my usual menu, but it's the easiest thing to bring that doesn't need any packaging that I'll have to drag home.

Well, I'm pooped, so I think I'm gonna turn in soon. Have a great day and I'll catch up with you probably on Sunday.

Hello! No exercise yesterday - relaxed in the morning, had lunch with hubby, then spent the afternoon with my mom at the DMV. Picked up Rx's for her and my dad at two different pharmacies afterwards. She picked up Taco Bell for them, and got me a bean and cheese burrito and a crunchwrap for my hubby, but I was good and gave both to hubby when I got home.

Weigh-in was this morning - no gain and no lose from last week but hadn't had a good "trip to the bathroom" yet so hopefully it's actually down a bit. Plus, I've got sore muscles and that can add water weight. SO - using those reasons not to get too down about it.

Today is crazy - had a two hour workout with Kelly this morning, and cleaning this afternoon for a small get-together with friends tonight. This is a little 5-ish minute break I'm allowing myself.

Workout was (4 sets, 15 reps where applicable):
Leg press - 1st set at 180 lbs, next 3 at 270 lbs, alternating with 2 sets of stair runs.
Individual Hamstring curl machine - 35 lbs.
(3-element circuit)Seated row - 70, then 80 lbs, with
Tricep Pressdowns, 70, 80 twice, then 90 lbs, and
Stair run with a half lap of the track run.
Finally finished with another 3-element circuit of
Straight up then oblique crunches, about 15 of each kind, with 70 mountain climbers, and walking lunges.

Finished the whole workout up with a 30 minute treadmill run but it was more like run 3 walk 2 for me because I was pretty wiped out.

Ok, times up - the timer has been beeping at me for awhile. I've got to get back to cleaning!

Have a great weekend, everybody!

Good Morning!
Another long day yesterday... ugh. Not one I was expecting. We are remodeling our showroom and I had to stay and work with the contractor as to where things are going to go so he could start the framing.
Then I had to come home and do payroll for the companies I do bookkeeping for.

Kerrie my son and granddaughter are staying with us for right now. There house is being torn apart by the landlord so they have no kitchen or bathrooms. So they have been staying with us for the past couple weeks and looks like it will be a couple weeks more.

Nera hope you had a good workout! I need to start back up with the evening exercise as well as the morning.

Hope everyone has a great day! Its friday... I have to work tomarrow, but it is nothing like the weekdays.

Howdy do everyone. Just getting ready to start my work out. Had a chance to be in on a market research project for coloring your hair. It would have paid $75 but they wanted people who dye their hair regularly and I have only done it once in the last year. Might have been fun.

Everyone have a good night. Off to do my quick check of Craig's list for treadmills.

Good morning ladies!! Hope your day is starting off on the right foot.

Toni good to hear from you this morning-glad all is well. You work so many hours-how do you find time for it all? Do you have the GD this weekend?

Wendy look at you go!! An hour of cardio is awesome! Is today a trainer day? Glad to hear you'll have a nice massage today to get all the kinks out.

Jules great workout-if I did 1/2 that I'd be tickled pink. Homemade bread, if I close my eyes and use my imagination I can almost smell it!! I agree with you on those downhill crashes-YIKES!! First of all you would never catch me skiing down a hill at that speed, I'm a novice for sure. I just love watching the Olympics.

O2B hope you got some good rest after you busy day yesterday. Did you get to do your DVD this morning?

Hello to Annie, Speigy, Lori, and Katie and wishing you all a great day!

Good Morning!
Had a nice long post where I was finally able to take some time and get caught up on the posts yesterday morning and lost it in an istatnt. Not sure what happen.
Things have been slowing down a little around here, so hoping it stays that way for a while.
The weather has been beautiful in the hige 50's and low 60's with lots of sunshine. Have been getting outside to walk everyday.

Nera- sizing bras is never fun, especially when you are in between sizes.... Enjoy that sunshine I know I am.

Jules - Love that you are posting your work outs! They are such an insiration to me. I did a little extra on the TM yesterday morning after reading your post.

Kerrie- glad your daughter was able to come home for a visit last weekend. The knee is getting better everyday, I am going slow on what I do with it so not to re-hurt it. I want it in perfect condition before I start running again.

Wendy- Snow, snow and more snow... hopefully you dont get alot more next week. You definatly pushed yourself at the gym... hope you are not too soar today.

Katie- Good to hear everyithing is going good for you. Way to keep ontop of the nutrition!

Annie - Good to see you too! glad you guys are getting some sunshine.

Lori - Hope all is good in your neck of the woods?

Kellianne- Sounds like you are doing well.

Hi Speigy

The weekend is almost here again... I will have to work saturday but only for a few hours.
Hope you all have a fantastic day!

Kellianne - glad you got the whole story. Perhaps I should have turned the two parts around.

HOLY COW!!! Such scary wipeouts on the women's downhill skiing. It's giving me a stomach ache to watch them!! I would be in pieces after one of those crashes!

Jules - read your status note before getting to this post and was thinking, huh? Now, I'm LOL at the revelation. Have to admit I was slightly offended before that since my mom has difficulty with both those things because of muscular issues, but knowing the full story in context it's great!

Not much time to comment on everybody else's posts...sorry, but it's been a long day. I am wiped out after youth group so I'm heading to bed.

Well, yesterday it was my trainer trying to kill me. Today it seems I'm suicidal! I went to the gym tonite, since i was at dialysis training with my Dad this morning. I hate going at night--it's mobbed. There were no bikes available, so I started with the elliptical. Did 30 minutes, then went and found one available bike. Not the kind I like best, but ok. It was HARD! I turned the resistance up a little (I've been at the lowest setting), and boy oh boy did I feel it! I only lasted 25 minutes, and even that was really pushing it. i could barely climb off the bike afterwards. I have a feeling I'm going to hate myself in the morning! Fortunately, my massage therapist is feeling better, so she's coming tomorrow at 3. I'm gonna need it!

Things in my "igloo" are, well, cold. But tomorrow it's supposed to get over 40, so hopefully some of this stuff will melt. Of course, now they are talking about more of it on Monday or Tuesday. They aren't saying how much. I don't think I could bear another big accumulation. There are only 32 days until Spring. It can't come soon enough for me!

Jules, when I read your workout details, i feel like I need a nap. Sorry your Mom is having a bad day, but you are so sweet to bring her homemade bread.

Neraus, loved your bra story. It's a never ending issue, isn't it? I just hate bra shopping. When I find one I like, I buy 6 or 7 of them and wear the same kind every day. Mine are getting gray and dingy, so I suppose the time is coming soon...

Hey everybody. Had to take one of the bras back. I wore one to work and it was too tight. I guess I have gained some weight back in the chest area too. Sigh!!!!

Oh well it can be my back up bra. LOL!!!!

Yes it was nice and sunny today. Plus I now have sunshine for both my drive in and from work. That makes the day seem a lot better.

No time to comment right now - will try to check back in later.

Just copied my workout post from another thread, so I'll post it for anyone who's interested in today's workout.

Workout today was ST, mostly upper body after yesterday's Classic Paul killer. Did bench press to failure (thank heavens for a spotter!!), then alternated leg press and calf raises - hard but not to failure, then alternated high rows and lat pulldowns, both to failure. (Shampooing my hair in the shower was a bit problematic when I got home - my arms were limp noodles!)

Then Kelly and I hit the elliptical for 30+ minutes (38 incl. cooldown for me) doing an interval program. PHEW!! I could tell I was totally out of juice by the end! Sweat rolling and quads burning! Even Kelly had some sweat rolling, and she NEVER sweats!

OK, got to run and buy some honey. Making more homemade bread - my mom is having a terrible day so I'm going to take her some fresh, whole-wheat bread tomorrow when I go over there.

Hello all!!

Toni I didn't see a hello here from you this am-hope everything is ok. How is work going? I hope you are doing well and that your knee is better now that the shoes are gone.

Wendy how goes it in your Igloo? :) Sounds like you must have had a great workout to be so sore- Good on ya! Sorry you missed your massage though that would have been wonderful.

O2B your making us all jealous with your great weather there. Hope you enjoyed your walk and get a chance to do your workout tape later.

Jules all I can say is WOW thats some workout you did, bet it felt great afterwards. My Biggest Loser won't be back on til after the Olympics so in the meantime I am using the athlets as my inspiration. What is your favorite winter event?

Annie so good to hear from you. Love the sound of the beer festival-makes the Irish in me smile :) I'm in the same boat as you, doing better on the eating (although still not as well as I should be doing), but need to kick it into gear with the exercise.

Ok better get to work-there is a lot to get done by 5:00pm. Take care and have a great Wednesday.

Hi all!

O2b - so lucky to be able to go outside for a walk! I'd be afraid I'd fall on ice or get killed walking out of a snow pile....it is unbelievable here. Like Neraus said though we have had some sun now....not like it takes any of the piles away, its just nice to see it!

Jules - great workout! I was smiling reading it - was like yeah there's our Jules!

Wendy - sorry to hear you're hurting after the workout from H! It will get easier though....right?!?!?!?

Kerrie - I hear you, I just think the weekends going to be chill and then one of the kids or two or three come home and it's all craziness! Last weekend it was a big festival here in town and the two oldest came home - so I went with them to Bockfest - which is a beer festival at the local brewery. It was a blast!

Food plan is in check for the week and exercise well that's another story :).

Hello to Katie, Toni and Lori!

Its - I always try to exercise before I eat. Otherwise, I wind up nauseous. Yes, the hip is much better. Think I just slept wrong. Glad you had a nice weekend with your daughter.

Wendy - Sorry you are hurting after your workout. I think all personal trainers have a touch of torture in them. Sorry you missed your massage too. How dare the therapist pull a muscle...doesn't she realize she's needed? :-)

Jules - that is a KILLER workout. Well done. I might have to try something like that in the gym at my complex. I'd probably have to work up the levels you were doing though.

Had the hardest time getting out of bed this a.m. So, I didn't get an exercise DVD done. Did take a forty minute walk with the dogs though and that felt nice. The weather has been absolutely beautiful here the last five days. Cooler weather and possible rain headed this way again soon though. So, I was enjoying every minute of sunshine today. Even, rolled the car windows down and opened the sunroof.

Wendy, I just LAUGHED when I saw your status this morning. Sorry, but I remember feeling that way at times with Brad. Sorry your massage therapist called to cancel. Hope you get to get back to that soon.

Kerrie - sounds like a nice weekend with your daughter and her BF. I was wishing my daughter could have come down this weekend. Oh well. And I'm watching as much of the Olympics as I can. Hubby doesn't really enjoy them so we don't see them much in the evenings, but he will be gone for part of this evening so I will watch them while I can!

Well, I had a KILLER great workout today. Kelly and I call it a classic Paul because we learned it from Paul the trainer. We did 5 circuits of 2 minutes TM run, 2 minutes stairmill, 2 min cycle. For me the treadmill runs were 4.8 mph, 5.0, 5.0. 5.2 and 5.5. The stairmill started at level 10, then 9, 9, 8 and 8. Those about killed me! The bike was level 10, and then level 11 the last time around, all at 85+ rpms. My HR was in the 150s most of that 37 min period (30 minutes on the machines, with 7 min total transition time). After the circuit we ran on the treadmill for 30 more minutes followed by a 5 min cooldown. I was trying to bring my HR down a bit, but even at 4.5 mph, .5% incline, doing 4:1's (run 4 minutes, walk 1 minute) my HR stayed in the mid 150's. So, I got over an hour of a pretty intense cardio workout! I'm happy. We followed it up with 15 minutes of stretching and the foam roller and I feel GREAT now!

Have a great evening all!

We had nice sunny weather for a change. I am ready for the snow to be gone but we still have a long time to go before that happens.

I guess Biggest Loser won't be on tonight due to the olympics. Guess I will have to work out while watching that.

UGH! It's snowing again!!! Doesn't seem to be accumulating much, at least on the roads. The sidewalk looks like 1/2 inch to 1 inch maybe. At least the kids had school!!!

Had an intense session with my trainer this morning. I swear she is trying to KILL me! I figured it would be ok, as I had a massage scheduled for right after, but my massage therapist called to say she had pulled a muscle so she had to cancel. So my aching body is gonna hang around.

I need to go out and do a few errands. I do NOT feel like going out in the snow. Guess I'd better get used to it. I think they picked up my town and moved it to the Arctic Circle when we weren't looking...

Hope y'all have a good day!

Good morning all!! Sorry I have been away this weekend, my daughter and her BF came home Friday for a visit and didn't leave until Monday afternon. We had a great time, ate out too much but really enjoyed the time together. The good news is I weighed in this am and didn't gain-stayed exactly the same and I'll take it!!

Neraus sorry to hear your birthday wasn't great-you deserved a spectacular party and from the looks of it this team threw you a nice cyber party!! YEAH
Your doing great with the strength and it looks like its working.

Katie so good to hear from you and know your not drowning in books. Sorry to hear you son and hubby are sick, I hope a quick recovery for all of you.

Wendy has the snow started to melt off yet or are you still digging yourself out? Congrats on getting the ellipitcal for the house-sure helps on days its impossible to get to the gym. Hope all goes well with the classes for your Dad.

O2B I love the idea of walking off your breakfast before you even eat it!! Is your hip feeling better? I have been a little achy in my knees but I think I just tried too much too soon so no running for me until I work my way up to it.

Jules way to go on getting to boot camp. There is a class is my town called extreme boot camp but its $300 a month so I won't be taking that class. I can not wait for spring as I love to get outside for nice long walks. My hubby usually gets a nice bonus every spring but this year does'nt look promising so buying a new bike might have to wait, or I can look for a store that will do layaway.

Hello Speigy, Annie, and Lori. Hope everyone is having a great start to their week. Is anyone watching the Olympics?

Jules - WTG on Boot Camp. Remember it doesn't matter if you finish first or last, just finish....that's the victory!

Nera - Yay on the new bras....hope when you try them on they do actually fit. Buying bras is always such a pain for me...definitely my least favorite shopping task. Well done on keeping up with the ST that is so awesome!

Well the bras may have to go back. I found the tag from my last bra and it was a 38D(sorry if this is TMI)and the ones I bought were 38C. I guess I will wear one and see if I am spilling out. I didn't try them on and there wasn't a lady there to help with sizing. But the ones I have now seem to big in the cup so I am at the annoying stage where I am between cup sizes.

I just got done with 50 minutes of exercise bike and 20 minutes of ST. This is the start of the 4th week of ST and I can't believe I have been able to keep this going for a month.

Now if I can just stay out of the carrot cake and special k bars I might do well this week. LOL!!!

YAY - new bras!! And a nap. Couldn't ask for better!

I went to boot camp. Didn't conquer but I DID survive. Got a decent, HARD workout in. Found out my last place buddy was there for her last time since she's starting a new, full-time job, so I'll be back to doing last place alone. Oh well.

Had a yummy morningstar farms spicy black bean burger patty on a sandwich thin for lunch. It was really yummy! Had that with green beans. I have to offset the dark chocolate kisses I've been eating.

Now for laundry. Lots and lots of laundry. LOL

Well since it was President day there were some sales and I got two new bras to replace the one that broke. Pretty sure the others which are the same vintage as the broken one are living on borrowed time. LOL!!

Then a nice little nap on the couch. I love vacations.

Quick check in. Gotta get an email off to my son even if he probably won't get it since the libraries (where he picks up and sends email from) will probably be closed today. I don't want to take the chance though.

Then get ready for boot camp. Dreading it, but will go. I'll check in again later.

Katie - good to hear you are sticking it out even when it's been tough going.

Wendy - those snowstorms are really something. Stay warm. Congrats on the elliptical. Good to hear your dad is doing well.

Nera - that is definitely not the kind of birthday you deserved. I'm so sorry. Hope you are feeling better after having vented. Enjoy your last day of your long weekend!

Busy this weekend. Son spent the night Friday at a friend's house. The rest of us got up Saturday a.m. and took a lovely walk. Well, lovely for me, but they were complaining a bit that I was moving at marathon speed. We stopped for bagels about 2/3 through the walk which was nice. My daughter and I shared a bagel so I was good. Finally picked up son and went in search of new shoes for both of them. My son picked out a pair of Heelys which he wore the rest of the afternoon and the trim fell off the shoe. Needless to say, we were back at the shoe store on Sunday to exchange it. Valentine's Day was lovely. I didn't have to cook and hubby spoiled us rotten. Ate too many calories so my weigh-in today will be icky, but I'm not going to let that bug me too much. Now I just need to figure out how to not consume the 2lbs of chocolates he got me. Well, at least not all at once like I normally would do.

Have a great morning and week all!

Good Morning!
Missed a few day there... just got busy and could not seem to get the time to pop in. Woke up late this morning as well, but wanted to let ya all know I am alive and well.
Nera sorry to hear about your birthday. Sometimes it is better if we don't set the expectation to high for some people. We are the only ones that get hurt. Happy Birthday from us. Know we are having a heck of a party in your honor.

I know there are lots of posts I need to comment on, just running low on time this morning. I will try to catch up with you all later.

Have a fantastic Monday. Holiday for some I know. Enjoy if it is... if you have to go to work like me, make it the best day ever.

Toni

Thanks guys. Last night was no fun. He told me later he doesn't know why he keeps doing stuff like this since he does love me. But since I can't change him I have to change me.

I was so tired because I stayed up late last night. The only way I can sleep after such emotional upheaval is to be so tired I fall asleep the minute I lay down. Other wise I just go over stuff in my head and get all worked up again. It was midnight when I went bed and I still woke up at 7:30am. Around 3pm I hit the couch to watch some golf and took an hour long nap. LOL!!!

I did an hour on the exercise bike while I watched the Amazing Race. With all the sweets we have in the house I am going to have to do some big time exercising this week.

Nera - I have often thought that your hubby is fighting depression. I know that when I was, I did a lot of the same things - thought something was a good idea, but never did anything about it, and never had a good reason why I didn't.

This is not to excuse him in any way, or tell you you shouldn't be unhappy. And now that I think of it, you also said that he's been that way for 24 years, so maybe I'm wrong and that's not it. And I agree that simply accepting that that's the way it's going to be is probably your best bet for NOT crying on your birthday anymore. Then if he ever DOES something you can be pleasantly surprised but you won't be disappointed when he doesn't.

However, just like Wendy - I think you deserve a HUGE celebration, so here are my additions to Wendy's party for you:

So sorry to hear that Nera. No one should have to cry on their birthday. I don't know why guys are like this. I am not big on alot of the Hallmark Holidays (like today, for instance...) But I think birthdays are a big deal and should be celebrated. Now, if you thought it was not a big deal, then it would be fine if he didn't do anything. But you've told him in many ways that it's important to you, and the fact that he doesn't is what's sad. I guess accepting it is probably your best option, since he certainly isn't going to change, but it's still a shame.

So, since you didn't get the celebration you wanted, here's a little one for you from me!

Congratulations on getting an elliptical. It is nice to have your own cardio equipment.

Major vent!!!! Feel free to skip. Major self involvement!!!!

Guess what I got for my birthday? An arguement with the hubby. I spent the day shopping and got home around 5pm. He had made no plans. He hadn't bought me anything other than a card although he had made me a birthday cake. I asked if I had to quick clean the house before people came over and he said no he had not called anyone.

I decided to go to the mall with him and walk around. Bad idea. Don't go to the mall the night before Valentine's day. It was busier than at Xmas. But on the way there he could tell I was upset. I said not having a party wasn't as bad as that he hadn't made a single plan. Well he gives me some really lame reasons on why he didn't. I told him that it bothered me that the only thing he ever had on my birthday was excuses on why he couldn't do anything.

I guess this made him angry because he decided to turn mean. On three seperate occasions we had discussions about what kind of cake my hubby wanted for his birthday. He said he wanted a Boston Creme pie. I told him that cake wasn't in my range but I would buy him one. He kept saying he would make it and I said no. No one should have to make their own birthday cake. He repeatedly told him it was fine he had more time so it made sense for him to make it.

Now back to tonight. While we were in the car he gets upset and tells me"Well at least you didn't have to make your own birthday cake." I was floored and really hurt because I tried to make it and he insisted on doing it himself.

What it comes down to is he is angry and I am crying on my birthday again. He apoligized for saying that but now how am I suppose to trust anything he says. I ask him about something and he says he is fine and I have to worry about when this will be thrown in my face at a later date.

I have decided that my birthday will from now on be a card and maybe dinner out. I am tired of being disappointed. A lot of it is my fault for having expectations that seem to be unreasonable at least from the hubby's view point. He tells me I deserve to have my birthday celebrated but yet won't do anything other than baking a cake. He seems incapable of making and executing any kind of plans. I don't get it. But I have to finally accept that he will not make plans. He will not buy me a present unless I tell him what I want. He will not throw me a party. He will buy a card, will make me a cake and will take me out to dinner. And that is what I need to realize and accept. To do otherwise is just plain idiotic. He hasn't changed in 24 years I don't know why I keep hoping or expecting that he will.

Sorry for this long post. Just had to get it off my chest and I didn't have any one else to tell.

Greetings from blizzard country! OMG, I don't know when I've seen so much snow. I swear we're gonna be looking at it until June! We had over a foot over the weekend, and then another 15 or so on Tuesday/Wednesday. Fortunately, my sister was here so I was snowed in in her good company! We had a blast and she kept me sane. But now she's gone back home to Turkey and we are looking at ANOTHER snowstorm on Monday. Ugh! I don't know how you girls from up north deal with it year after year!

On Wednesday while there was a lull in the storm, I ventured out and went to the gym. I figured I wouldn't get out on Thursday. I'd also gone Monday after work in anticipation of the storm. I got my Body Bugg and wore it for several days but for some reason can't get it to synch to my computer. Tried again at the gym this morning but no luck. There may be something wrong with my Bugg.

Hey Jules, does that mileage thing of weight X .6 X miles apply to the bike too? I've been getting better and better at the bike--today I managed 2.38 miles in 30 minutes. I know that's pathetically slow, but it's fast for me! I did the elliptical too and I may have pushed it a bit too much, as my legs are just killing me tonite.

I've been doing really really well with food and exercise. Through work, snow days, out to eat, you name it. So what tripped me up today? My daughter's swim team had a bowling party, and there were snacks. No problem ignoring the pretzels and cheeze curls. But the potato chips...they just called to me! I didn't have a whole lot, but still. And I kept stealing bites of my daughter's pizza--probably ate 1/2 a slice all told. Now I'm trying to convince myself that no, I didn't "blow it" and I don't need to just eat everything in sight tonite! Why do these old bad habits die so darn hard?

Happy Birthday Nera!!!

Congrats to all who lost weight, made exercise progress, lowered cholesterol and made other good choices. I really will try to keep up a little better this week, but Dad starts dialysis training on Monday, so I'll be really busy with that, work, kids, the gym, etc. etc. BTW, Dad's doing great! Thanks for all your prayers and good wishes.

Oh yeah, I bought an elliptical! I sat here in the midst of a blizzard wishing I had one so I could get in some cardio, which got me to looking at them online, which got me to actually figure out I could make room for it in my family room, to buying it! It should be here in a couple of weeks, and they will even bring it in and assemble it for me!

Hi Ladies,
Yes, I've sort of been MIA lately, but I have been behaving! (for the most part) emoticon

It has been tough getting back into the swing of things with school etc. Plus, both my son and my husband have been super sick. Nothing life-threatening, thank God, but they have both been flat out with the worst cases of bronchitis I've ever seen. I am nursing a cold myself and hoping it doesn't develop into something worse.

Before I forget... thank you, Jules, for the massage... it felt delicious! *giggle*

I have been going to school, exercising, eating right (except for once or twice) but I've GAINED a lb. It gets discouraging, but I know you guys are all sticking it out so I will too.

I am sending love and hugs and I will try to drop in quickly again very soon. Miss you guys!!

Love, K.

PS - Wendy, hope I didn't miss it when I was skimming the posts.... how did your dad make out with the surgery to reposition everything???

"Keep on, keepin' on."

Nera - Have a happy birthday! Good luck with the clothes shopping. Sorry you weren't able to find a decent treadmill.

Jules - Chili is notoriously high in sodium, but boy is it great when it's done right. Do you do a vegetarian chili or what sort of meat do you use? Sorry about your allergy attack. Hope your luncheon went well.

Lori - WTG on the cholesterol! That is really great news.

Didn't exercise this a.m. Slept in and then was busy with laundry. Hubby took us to Souplantation for lunch and I am so stuffed I'm planning on skipping dinner. Managed a short workout on the stationary bike and some strength training. Now I'm spending the evening with my daughter at the movies.

Have a great weekend all!

Oh Jules sorry to hear about the allergy stuff and the scale. Not a fun combination of things.

I stayed the same this week and I was pretty happy with that. I have been doing my ST twice a week for three weeks now. So far I have had two weeks with losses and one week the same. I wonder if there is a correlation?

No treadmills found today. The thrift stores where I saw them before they were gone. We found a used exercise equipement store and thought we had finally hit pay dirt. A treadmill for $80. Well then we plugged it in. It squeaked and the track didn't run right. I could feel it slipping or something under my feet. They only had one used the rest were new and $600. What hurt the most was when the guy said they had a bunch of them for the longest time and they had recently sold in January. I guess I was a few weeks too late to start looking. Sigh!!!

Well I got the Sparks notifications back for when people post to the forum but I still don't get the other emails. The articles and stuff. Not sure how I am going to get those back. We will see if they show up soon.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Tomorrow for my birthday I am going shopping with my Mom and sister. Time for some clothes or at least some looking for clothes. LOL!!!

Congrats Lori on the cholesterol! My cholesterol levels are never high, but my good cholesterol was too low before. Fish oil pills and a changed diet and exercise started bringing that up and triglycerides down. I was able just yesterday to check my total cholesterol level (no breakdown) on the local blood services website. They make it available to you about 3 weeks after you donate blood. My total number is 146, up from 133 in July. I'm hoping that's the good stuff. Gonna have to get some insurance and get back to the doc, I guess.

Sorry you can't sleep in, Nera. I hope happy, fun hubby shows up for your fun time. And do I understand it's your birthday this weekend?

Spiegy, sounds like a plan. Enjoy your 3-day weekend!

Well, I had a huge allergy attack last night, and had to take 2 doses of meds, and this morning I have a bad headache. Between that and needing to make something for a luncheon I'm going to, I bailed on the gym this morning. I'll try to go this afternoon instead.

I DID step on the scale this morning and was very disappointed in what I saw, even with expecting a gain after the strangeness of this week. Some of it might be my chili - I've noticed I tend to be up after eating it - probably the sodium. I may try to step on the scale again tomorrow, see if that makes a difference. Of course, I'll have to stay away from the chili today... LOL!

Ok, got to get ready to go. Have a good day, everyone!
