I'm reading a very interesting but expensive biography of George Washingtons'. early life. It also explores several well known myths. The problem with my beloved C-span 2 Book weekend TV program, is the resulting desire to read current books.

I read on loan The Things We Cannot Say by Kelly Rimmer. It is a fictional account from one person's experience and her granddaughters search for family history about the Nazi actions against Jews, Catholics and other groups in occupied Poland (near Treblinka it seems) intermixed with her grandmothers late teen through early adult account. Including things that made the history kind of hard to follow easily from a researchers standpoint.

The author Kate Quinn got me hooked on historical novels. The best was "The Alice Network". I also love her Borgia books; The Serpent & the Pearl".

I just read "the Reckoning" by John Grisham. I believe it was mentioned by someone on this site. It has mixed reviews and really shakes up my typical read of historical romance, but I think it was worth the read.

I like to switch groups on every "book" I read - at least era, location and general topic category. It keeps things separated. I like some real history in there too, as well as some non fiction topics in addition to several fiction categories. I have discovered that I have to go into my book list and manually make books show as read on my Kindle "Manage Content and Devices" list if I read them on my Ipad. Sometimes you can get new releases for free for a brief period before they are assigned a price. Periodic special offerings and some long time offerings by authors may be available. Watch for "cliffhangers" in the last group, but you can still find some decent offerings.

My recent reading includes Flirting with Fire by Piper Rayne, Leaving my Amish World by Eirene Eicher, Torn between Two Highlanders by Lydia Kendall and Flirting with Fire by Kate Hardy. These four were all free Amazon offerings when I downloaded them.

I have added several of the books listed below to my wish list. I want to break my pattern of reading historical romances. I also need to get off Nook and hold a real book. My niece, who is an author, had many author friends send me one of their books to read while I was in cancer trestment.

I finished The Reckoning by John Grisham. It kind of had a surprise ending. I started Kristan James' More Than Memories. Between my mother and I, we have several thousand down loads over the years. Her very early kindle has quit working. She is using her Ipad now and I did give her a Kindle 8 a while ago and got all of her books downloaded so she can use either. My mother used to be a Language Arts ("English") teacher for quite a few years a while back. I also finished Kate Robbins Bound to the Highlander on the other Kindle.
