I was told to expect some clicking of the joint after my replacement. The different parts will click when they move against each other.

Had my replacements 10 years ago and I never had clicking but a popping sensation. Still get it every now and then. My surgeon told me not to worry about, and I don't - but it can be annoying!

I am 15 months post op and my knee clicks all the time when walking. The doctor told me it might go away if I develop scar tissue around it but it probably only bothers me. My husband doesn't hear it. Drove me crazy for a while until I got used to it. I figure it will be there forever.

My thanks to everyone. Your answers were really helpful. I have to say I had been lazy since my surgery. I have only been going to the gym for the last three weeks.
Joining Sparkpeople has been amazing. The trackers really keep me goal oriented and committed to success.

I had my bilateral TKR almost a year ago. I still have clicking in my L knee (never had it in the R) when I walk.

I get clicking whenever I'm slacking off on exercising. I go back to doing my quad strengthening exercises and it goes away.

Not when I'm walking, but whenever we do circles with our legs in water aerobics, my knee makes popping sounds. I was told it's normal, so I don't worry about it. At least it doesn't hurt!

I had my total knee replacement in 12/2014, and I first noticed the clicking for about 6 months or so and it has completely gone away now. My Dr. feels that that's part of the program and that it will go away with everything settling in. Good luck to you!!

My right total knee replacement was 5/2015. Whenever I walk-moving my knee is clicking away. Doc says if I strengthen my knee it will probably go away. Does anyone else have this going on . If so what do your doctors say?
