Yeah, I just went cold turkey yesterday and yes, I did have an awful headache all day. I am hoping today will be a better day. I did take a three hour nap yesterday :)

Anne, good luck with that all I can say is start slowly. What I will do before a total juice fast is each day I add less coffee and more water to my cup after about 5 days it is nothing but colored water. It works because I don't get that awful caffeine w/d.

Abby - so funny that you brought up this post today. I have been back on coffee and TODAY is the day that I am going on decaf to see if I can break this habit! Both my Mom and my brother are going on decaf as well so that we can compare notes. The excuse I keep giving myself for getting back on coffee is that "I did not get enough sleep", "I have to stay awake and focused in my meeting", etc. Those are the true battles that I need to fight.

Before I retired and worked, I drank a lot of coffee. Office coffee is the worse stuff ever and most cups sat cold on my desk after that first sip - ugh, but I sipped most of the day.
Now that I am home, when I get up I grind the coffee beans, boil the water and pour it over the freshly ground coffee - the aroma is to die for. I used to have a coffee pot that I'd make the coffee on the stove, as the water boiled it pushed up and bathed the coffee and the aroma filled my home.
I will have one or two cups early in the morning and no more after that. It is my one pleasure.
When I decide to go on a juice fast then I take a week to wean myself off of caffeine before I start, this way no cold turkey and no withdrawal headache.

Thanks C2Susan! My system is telling me I have to cut out the caffeine - not something I really want to do, but I think the results will be worth it!

I really think you are amazing for even trying to cut the coffee out of your system. I cut caffeine out after my morning coffee is done, but I still drink a lot of coffee in the morning... you are an inspiration for a goal I don't even want to attempt just yet... I want to get my other goals in check before I take on something like this... keep up the good work ANNEMARG!!

Thank you Susan! After my first day of just one cup of coffee I did toss and turn a little last night, but my Sleep Quality app gave me a 92% sleep quality rating which is great. Feeling much better this morning! Here's to another day of just one cup of coffee!!!

Well - I am back to cutting out the coffee, So tired today - I really battled wanting an afternoon coffee - took a nap instead. I really need to kick this habit. Right now I am cutting down to just one 6oz cup a day - first thing in the morning.

Thanks for the feedback Kara! I am on day three without caffeine. I have had a headache for the past two days and yesterday I slept all day, but today I am starting to feel better. I enjoyed a great sleep last night! The best that I have experienced in weeks!!!

Good luck for everyone who starts the journey of no caffeine. My vise was Mountain Dew. Dang. I did it but it was rough and worth it. Smiles. You will do just fine. What worked for me was spacing out the times I had a soda. It worked.

After much delay - I am finally giving it a try - no caffeine for today!! My hope is that I will sleep better tonight without my morning caffeine. My overall hope is that I can learn to wake up and feel good in the morning without needing caffeine. I will keep you posted.

Good luck!!! I think my family would be pouring it down my throat while I was sleeping if I even tried to kick the habit... Fortunately I stop drinking all caffeine by noon... I have kicked a lot of habits in my life, but I have to give you credit, caffeine may be a battle I can't even start... I'm glad to hear you are going to do it!!! please keep me (us) updated to your success!!

I have been cutting back on my coffee/caffeine habit as I noticed that when I do not have caffeine after 11am, I sleep much better on those nights. I have gotten my coffee intake down to two 6 oz cups of coffee at 5am each morning. I will be off the next two weeks for the holidays so starting tomorrow - only decaf coffee for me (yes, yes....decaf has some caffeine, but I am not going to worry about that trace amount). I will let you know how it goes for me :)
