well, now i have. i had my two grad courses this week, and wow. i know i'm really gonna have a busy semester (and i still have to sub to make money for the rest of my tuition)

the hardest part about the first week of school is figuring out how on earth you're going to do your schedule. now that i have a general idea how much work i'll have to do each week, it'll be easier. but this is my practice week, so to speak, where i do what i can and see how much time i need on stuff. unfortunately, i'm freaking a little on this and come tomorrow, if i can finish tonight, then i'll be exercising as regularly as possible. i sure hope to.

the best to all of us in remembering our goals in and out of the classroom.

Teachers started on August 10th and the first day for the kids was August 13th. So we're back in in the swing of things. It seems like my district starts earlier every year.

I bow down to all of you who go back to school in August. We have two days of inservice on 9/8 and 9/9. The first day for the students is on 9/11. Being the sick person that I am, I've gone into school a few times this week to start setting up my room. I like to have all that done before "everyone" comes back. That way I get first dibs at the copier and laminator while they're hanging posters. Hehehe

I start on Monday. As of now I have 22 kids in my class but we have been getting new additions all week, 3 new just yesterday. So I really have no idea how many are going to show up on Monday. Wishing everyone a good school year!

I've started working at home but we won't be at school until August 30. There is work being done on the building so it's difficult to get in early. I left things undone in June so I'll have lots to do. emoticon

I've spent 2 days working in my room so far (my time). Next week we officially start with 3 days inservice & a welcome to school night for the children & their families. The children start September 1.
I'm making progress in getting ready. I didn't sort much at the end of the year so I'm catching up on that now.

Back at school... going on day four and already my exercise plan is suffering. I have to make time and just go do it.

Today.. 8-4:00 PD; pick up children; drop off at mom's, work in classroom, 6:30 meet the teacher night, pick up children, drive home, workout. Find some time to call health insurance companies about therapy coverage for children (speech/OT). Oh, also need to at least get milk from the grocery store. I can do, after all I'm Super Mom/Teacher... I hope. Good luck everyone!

Yes and so far my classes are great. The sophomores are eager and excited to learn, and my AP classes are smaller than usual. I think it's going to be a fantastic year.

Lois,

YES!! Payroll starts the first day we are on campus. We have a lot of meetings and planning and little time in our rooms...of course everyone stays after hours and works on bulletin boards, etc.

I was just thinking about this thread today. I am going to stop complaining about the in-services since we DO get a lot of GOOD information, ideas, new things coming from the state, etc. Next time I will remember that I am fortunate that my district invests all this money training us to be better teachers.

Now I feel more positive, and I'm almost done with my room, emoticon

MCMARTI26, I have to ask--Do you get paid for 10 days of inservice? We get only 2 this year with hardly any of that time being allowed for work in the classroom so most of us will put in more on our own.

I will have a grand total of 10 days of in-service. I started Aug 10th and the kids will be here Aug 24.

It's funny how different states have different regulations regarding the school calendar.

Have a great year!! emoticon

We have 2 days of inservice (I'll be there for 4) the last week of August but the kids don't start until Sept. 8. Would be nice to start early so we can be done in May, but the state won't allow it.

I still have 20 glorious school-free days left and all anybody can say is "your summer's over" blah blah blah.
My glass is half full and 20 days is 20 days! lol
