Good Evening Team! I hope you're all having a Terrific Tuesday so far! I'm doing pretty good. I ate the right kinds of foods but didn't plan carefully enough in advance so I ended up eating too much food. Oh well. Live and learn right? I also did 10 minutes of exercise today and made a meal plan for the week. Hopefully I can use that to make sure I don't eat too much too. Have a great day all and keep on Sparking!

CANADIANHEATHER - YIKES! That is cold! We were up to +8 Celsius overnight here, but then it quickly started to taper off again and we're supposed to be back to -27 Celsius with the windchill by morning. Sounds like a good day to relax and stay warm to me in your jammies! Enjoy the comfort and keep up the amazing work!

LYNCHD05 - I'm new to the team so I'm catching up on everyone's news as well. I'm sorry to hear about your Mom, but I think it's great that you are making sure that everyone can come to be there for her Celebration of Life. I know that when my Mom passed away it was very hard to function for awhile, but I was still able to participate by singing her favorite song at the Celebration and it made me feel so good. Keep your chin up and keep up the awesome work!

MINIMOE1 - That's a good idea about chair exercises, though I think you're right and they won't work properly from a recliner. lol. The moves are really hard for me too from that video. I hope you had good luck with your errands this afternoon. I'm looking forward to warmer weather as well. Keep up the fabulous work!

VOLARI52 - We had some record breaking cold weather's as well here in PEI this year. It's a doozy of a winter alright. 6 grandkids is definitely a crew to feed. I'm sure you enjoyed it and did a great job watching what you ate! Good luck braving the weather in the morning as well. Keep up the fantastic work!

ANJAYS-JOURNEY - I'm glad to hear that you made it home safely through that awful weather. It's great to hear that your friend was so supportive and grateful for what you did. It wasn't great driving here in PEI either. lol. Keep up the great work!

So nice to see all the new SP friends on this chat thread...welcome all......I'm down here in southern ON....in the very south, right at the tip (Windsor) and its freezing, we are getting record cold temps -2f (-19c)....but with wind chill factors the -19c feels like -40c.....much too cold for my grand kids to go to school....so I have all 6 of them here at my house today.....making a carrot cake and chicken Parmesan with a salad for supper...hope I can watch my own eating today but need to feed this crew.....

Donna glad that you are with family and that your family is there to support you during this difficult time.....

Take care all and stay warm....tomorrow is a work day (I work 3 days a week)...and I do not look forward to getting outside in this weather at 6:00 am....... emoticon

Hey, Heather. check out coach niclole's video on a core workout you can do while seated on a straight chair (featured today). don't know if they'd work as well from a recliner... emoticon dh & I just tried some of the moves - not as easy as it might seem.
Hibernation in this cooooold weather is a lot more appealing. I'm venturing out this afternoon to take the rescue kitten to the vet & do some errands, but am not looking forward to any of it. Hope the prediction for warmer temps tomorrow pans out.
Have a great day all!

Hi all, well it has warmed up to the -30's today. How awesome is that!!! Been very busy and it has been difficult. I almost feel like it is an invasion of my Mom's privacy. I guess that is natural and lots of other mixed feelings. We have lots of family so there is lots of support, tears and laughs. We will get through this. I am going home on Thursday so life will start to get back to some form of normalcy. We are having her celebration of life in the summer so the whole family can be there. It is awhile away but Mom would want everyone there.
I am not going to comment on all your posts today but I have read them and it's wonderful to have so much participation. Just one question...how are you feeling Anjay?

Morning Ladies............

It's a frosty day in the neighbourhood - sitting somewhere around -30 with the windchill.
DH has gone off to drive the boy to school since it's too cold to walk and I am doing my level best to rock the jammie pants and hubby's sweatshirt look while doing absolutely nothing in my recliner today.

It's not the healthiest choice, but it sure is a comfy one! Stay warm friends...

RAENDROPS - I'm glad you're enjoying your new family member. They are adorable. emoticon -40C sounds ridiculously cold. BRRRRR. Make sure to wear warm clothing and you may need some help getting your car started (if you have one). Good luck and keep up the magnificent work!

Thanks for the bunny tips! She's been pretty good and came from a good home. She seems to be using the litter box well so far, although we find little rabbit "treats" scattered throughout the cage. It's fun having a new pet tho!

This hovering-around-freezing weather is brutal. We lost power for about 48 hours right before Christmas, but many people were out for much longer. Can't wait to leave for work tomorrow morning when it's expected to be -40C!

RAENDROPS - It was a freezing rain day here so I sort of know how you feel. I'm in PEI though. lol. Hope you had a good day anyway. Keep up the amazing work!

RAELEAN88 - Slushy roads can sometimes be more dangerous, so be careful if you're driving. Enjoy the warmth though if you can. Keep up the awesome work!

SUE_FIT - I have a problem with exercise no matter what season it is. LOL. I find it easier to find people willing to go swimming or walking in the summer though. Enjoy the snow (I'm in PEI) though since you like it. Keep up the fabulous work!

MINIMOE1 - I love seeing you learning each individual member and where they're from so you can relate. AWESOME! Keep up the fantastic work!

ANJAYS-JOURNEY - It was raining her in PEI too. However, it was creating some mucky road conditions too. I actually prefer it snowing to cold temps as well, though I still prefer milder weather overall. lol. Keep up the great work!

CANADIANHEATHER - I love the advice you gave! I've never owned rabbits but my friend did and she said the same thing about the cords. Keep up the marvelous work!

Hi Shelly

I had rabbits years ago and a couple tips -
They are relatively easy to litterbox train
Watch out for cords and wires - they WILL chew through them if they get access!

Give them lots of cuddle time to get them used to being handled....

Enjoy!

I'm loving all of the snow we're getting in NS! (I am glad it's warmed up a little.) I love snuggling in a cozy house in winter weather. I'm going to try to drag myself outside to the slopes this week. My hip and knees will probably only be good for a couple of runs but it I'll love every minute.

I have a much easier time knuckling down to exercise in the winter. It's summer (and humidity!) that totally throws me off - all good intentions go out the window. Anyone else have the same problem?

I feel bad for everyone stuck in that awful cold snap. Not saying we aren't having cold weather, but lucky Calgary gets a nice Chinook every so often to break us out of it and this week is suppose to be rather "warm" so slushy roads we will get. Hope everyone is staying warm and working there butts off and getting back on track from the holidays. I know I have even more work to do now.

MINIMOE1 - Potlucks always get me too. *sigh* I have set the goal of only tracking what I eat, but when I see those bad things it makes me feel guilty even though what I'm eating is not the focus of this month. Oh well. I'll do better with time. Good luck getting back to the straight and narrow today! I get cabin fever when I'm not able to go outside. There's freezing rain right now and I'm not looking forward to having to go pick up Kayden (the boy I babysit Mon-Wed) from school. It's across the street and down about a block, but it's cold and awful out. *sigh* Though, it's probably not as cold as where you are. lol. Enjoy your day and keep up the amazing work!

Amalia - welcome! Love your positive outlook. You're not alone in not eating well yesterday. My choir always has a welcome back to practice pot luck supper after the holiday..it was last evening,..always way more eating than singing ..need I say more? emoticon food hangover bigtime emoticon emoticon
Back to the straight and narrow today. emoticon emoticon

Another Prairie deep freeze day - minus 36C air temp this morning. Was talking to my auntie in NS this morning - she was shivering in minus 12 - we'd be running outside with no toques & our coats unbuttoned at that temp. emoticon Everyone's a little stir crazy this morning, especially the cats who haven't been outside since the cold snap started. Right now they're chasing each other upstairs & down and all around.

Welcome to Shelley too - lucky you to live in Vancouver. emoticon No school here today due to the cold.
Happy Monday to Anjay, Steph, Judith & all the regular posters, lurkers et al.

Good Morning Team! I hope you're all having a Marvelous Monday so far. I didn't eat well yesterday and I didn't do my 10 minutes exercise as planned, but I did track all of my food and water and I did check in here. So, 2 out of 3 for an unplanned first day isn't terrible I guess. Here's to a better day today. Have a wonderful day and keep on Sparking!

ANJAYS-JOURNEY - Thanks for the welcome. Sounds nice to have such warm weather! It is supposed to be warming up where I am as well today. I am looking forward to it. Keep up the amazing work!

VOLARI52 - Hugs are always awesome, I agree! Thank you for the welcome! I agree that we're getting enough snow this winter too. lol. Keep up the awesome work!

JUDITH316 - The East coast keeps being hit by these 15 - 20 cm snow days, so there is tons of it. Or at least it feels like tons of it. lol. I'm glad that it is sunny in BC today though I'm sure it is pretty chilly still. I love to see the hugs going on for this team! Keep up the fabulous work!

Sending you more emoticon your way; glad you like them, I think we all could do with a few of them... it seems everyone including you are getting your fair share of snow and colder weather, we here in Vancouver are having a lot of sunshine with frosty cold days here, the mornings are frosty as our evenings, we are sitting at 25 degrees Fahrenheit which is cold, our snow is gone but in higher elevations and in mountains there is plenty...

RAENDROPS - Hi Shelly. Sounds to me like it will be a hard time to go back, but I think you will enjoy the change. Challenges can be exciting after all. My goals feel do-able to me too. I find that if I go too fast with my goal making I tend to fall and flounder. lol. Enjoy your new little bunny! I'm sure September is adorable! Keep up the amazing work!

Good afternoon!

Donna ~ I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I'm glad you are surrounded by family during this difficult time. It's clear that you have many people here (me too!) keeping you and your loved ones in our thoughts.

Amalia ~ Those sound like great (and very doable) goals. I think you can do it!

As for me... Things are going well, it's back to school tomorrow after a 2 week break (which is always hard). I'm going to a different school than I was at before the holiday, and switching subjects too, so it will be an adjustment. (I teach high school math and science). I plan on doing some batch cooking today to get ready for the week.

We also just got a new fur baby this weekend! On top of our 7 yr old cat Neko, we now have a 10 week old bunny named September. We've never had bunnies before, so we're learning, but she is super cute.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy week!

Good Morning Team! I hope you're all having a Splendid Sunday so far! I'm feeling pretty bad about not being here so consistently. I've made that one of my goals for this month. My 3 goals are to be on here every day, to track food and water every day and to do at least 10 min of cardio every day. Here's to a brand new year! We can do it! Have an awesome day all and keep on Sparking!

Thanks Charlotte, that is wonderful and I will be passing it onto my other teams.
I may be out of contact starting tomorrow as I will not have internet. I think I will be here for about another week in order to get everything done so if you don't hear from me you will know what is happening.
I am fine and just grateful to be with my family....

I've been lurking for the past week but wanted let you know how sorry I am for your loss, Donna. It's a blessing that you are surrounded by your family. Take care.

Hi all, sad news,,,,my Mom passed away this morning a short time after I arrived. It feels,so empty......and hard to believe she is not here anymore. Lots of tears and lots of good memories shared when the family got together later. We had lots of laughs which is good for the soul. I am so glad I am here with my family right now.

Hi Heather and Shelly....welcome to our team. I agree with the other ladies it is a challenge every day and the way I think about it now is it is the way I live.....as healthy as I can and as little processed food as possible.. Lots of fruit and veggies too. So come on the journey with us.....we laugh, we cry, we fall off the wagon but we all get back and cheer each other on.

Well ladies it is 1:45 am and I am in the Calgary airport waiting for a 6 am flight. I tried to rest but it is too bright and noisy. So here I sit. It was the only flight I could get out and get to my Mom by Friday. So hopefully it works out. I am too old for this staying up all night. I love my bed and my eight hours!!! Thank you for your prayers and thoughts. I am not sure how much internet I will have or how much time but I will try to keep in touch!!!

Every day is a new day.... everyday a new challenge... every mouthful, every workout.... Its a lifelong journey that's for sure!

Someone on one of my teams posted a blog saying that she wished she was an Emotional Exerciser... rather than an emotional Eater..... I was one of those emotional exercisers today...

I was gonna hide my face and go drown my sorrows in my bed this afternoon and instead I went to the gym and biked so hard you couldnt tell the tears from the sweat dripping down my face...

It works..... I felt better at the end of it emoticon

Welcome Shelley - all the best as you work toward your goals. As for anyone who might be new to the weight loss and being fit. It is my experience that for those on this journey we are new to it everyday because at some point we will blow it and have to start over. Just take it a day at a time that is all you can do.

Donna - I will keep your Mom in my prayers as well. Take care. - Pat emoticon

Happy New Year everyone!

I'm new to the group but would love to get in on the chat!

I haven't done any consistent exercise since summer, so I started off slow today with a 10 minute cardio kickboxing video; it was challenging (in a good way, I think?). It's difficult going back to fitness, when you remember what you use to be capable of and not being able to keep up to that level anymore. It's also difficult to move because my body has literally physically become bigger, so it's harder to move around.

Is anyone else new (again) to being fit?

Wow we are still cold here -13c when its cold outside, its cold inside, as we have no insulation, but too worry in time we will both have insulation and heat that radiates
Hope everyone is keeping warm.

Hi all, ..well Mom went through a code blue yesterday which was very scary. I was on the phone with my sister when it was happening. How awful to be here listening to this. Anyway she has stabilized and the doctor said not for us to rush there...wait a few days and see how she is. So I have to trust my family who are there with her. As you can imagine it is hard to know when to go. She will needs lots of help when this is over......today will not be a good day....
