I put my first order in for curbside grocery pick up. My kids have been bringing me food for two months. Yesterday I dropped off lots of boxes at the thrift store.

Hope you are all doing well!

Greetings from Ohio.

Cases of the virus are still going up in my county. We have not reached our peak. I think we have more than 160 total cases so far. Every day there are 5-10 new cases. The third person to pass from it was a lady in her 50's. I think she had MS, too.

It has been a very rainy & overcast week. Tomorrow the temps are rising & next week it is going to be hot. I will be thankful for my AC & fans! We have a planned power outage Saturday at midnight. It could last for 8 hours so we shall see. I have two tomato plants I need to get repotted. I have had success with putting them in big pots rather than in the ground.

PBS will have a Memorial day special on this year. I believe it will be Sunday night. Those holiday special are always so good.

My family is going through a trying situation. It is a hard one but I am praying lessons will be learned. I got a message from Tom this morning. Sean is in jail facing drug charges. Just how serious I do not know. Some say it is marijuana, which is not legal in Ohio. I do appreciate your prayers. Thank you.

Take care!

STARR..I have no ideas how you can get some sleep. I hope your doctor has an idea. Our virus cases continue to grow. We had another death yesterday. Likely someone from the nursing home. I am thinking of venturing out this week. I have only been out once since mid March. Out in a car. I have walked in my neighborhood. Stay safe.

Good morning;

Well, it's been 3 weeks now that I've not been able to sleep past 3 AM. This morning I have been up since 1:15!! It does not matter what time I go to bed, I can't actually get to sleep till 11 or 12, then am up just a couple hours after that. It is making my LLOONNGG days very dreary, exhausting & unhappy. I've no idea of what to do about it. My prescription sleeping medication combined with Tylenol PM is not working any longer. I have GOT to get some sleep. But I don't know how to do that. I have tried Melatonin, which does nothing for me. I am taking the highest dose that my doctor is willing to give me on the Lunesta and none of the other sleeping RX's does anything for me.

For the past 3 weeks I have been going to the gym--working on the treadmill & stationary bike. The most I have walked on the treadmill is 2 miles and 3.5 miles on the stationary bike. This next week I am going to find out how to do the weight machines, so that I can add weight training to the cardio. I've completely revamped my intake of food & drink. I have cut out everything except water. For breakfast I have either a strawberry or blueberry protein smoothie, and the same for lunch. For dinner I will eat 2 or 3 ounces of protein (usually fish or chicken), and 1/2 cup or so of a vegetable.

This coming Monday Tammy is going to go back to work. But under the strictest rules that she does not take her face mask off unless eating or drinking. And gloves are to be left on at all times. All the workers take individual lunches & breaks, so no body will contaminate someone else by sitting next to them while eating. I have told her job coach that she needs to be watched so that she does not take the mask off.

My dog, Hank, had a double ear infection. They put antibiotics in his ears, and scheduled to bring him back in a week for a recheck and possible more medication. I took him back to find that his ears looked better, but still needed another dose of antibiotics. I took him back again last night and found that his ears are all cleared up. So I am happy about that.

Your recipe for tuna pot pie sounds good Karen. Was it easy to make?

I am so glad to here that the young mom who had the virus is back home now.

Karen, you take care.

Hugs, Starr

STARR... I do not know how you are getting along without good sleep. I hope that changes. & your little dog. What did the vet say?

The sun is shining and it is 61 degrees! I am dressed so need to get a walk in.

Yesterday I tried a new recipe for chicken pot pie. I substituted tuna for the chicken & it is really good. I was able to use some mixed veggies that my sister gave me instead of the frozen ones. The top crust is bisquick.

Our restaurants are going to be having outside dining this weekend. Yesterday retail stores opened. I do not plan to venture out just yet.

Our cases continue to increase but mostly younger people. The big increase is in a turkey processing plant. We do have two staff in nursing facilities so that is a big concern. The young mom that had the virus is home but still needs prayer. She is hoping to get off of thickened liquids soon. The baby is growing but not yet 5 lbs so still in hospital.

Take care.

Aaww,, well I am glad that little Ricco has a family who cares about him....but hate it that your not going to have a dog. You need some company Karen.

Sorry I haven't been here the past couple of days. I have been sleeping so badly, if at all. The past week I have been sleeping only 2 or 3 hours a night. No matter what time I go to bed, I always wake up between 1 & 2 AM and can't get back to sleep. Today, I have been awake since 11:30 last night! It has become a considerable issue to stay awake during the day to care for Tammy. I alternate between drinking Red Bull (an energy drink) and coffee; desperately trying to stay awake.

I hope you had a good mother's day. Mine was good. Eldest DD fixed a huge dinner and invited us to come to her house for lunch. She set up tables on her deck (one table for us on one side of the deck, another table for her and family on the other side of the deck. It was really nice to see them in person, but not nice that we could not hug. We are a very "physical" family. So not being able to touch one another is really HARD!

Yesterday was my granddaughter's 12th birthday. She is my youngest. This coming Saturday we will go to the dam to celebrate her birthday. It will just be our immediate family and one of her little friends from school & the mother.

A week from today a friend of mine is flying in from the United Kingdom to visit. He actually lives in Georgia, but has been in the United Kingdom working on a project for the past 11 weeks. He is a freelance construction supervisor/foreman,and the project was finally finished this past Monday. He said that they were supposed to have been finished with the project 3 weeks ago, but Covid 19 almost completely stopped them dead in their tracks. But even with the delay in the completion of the hospital; he said that he was highly commended and given lots of praise for a job well done, and in the middle of a pandemic--no less. I am looking forward to seeing him, as it has been quite awhile.

Tammy still has not started back to work, but I think that I am going to send her next Monday. Provided they make sure that her face mask & gloves stays on.

You guys, I feel like I am just barely hanging on here; what with the Covid 19 and no sleep to speak of. It's been hard, as I know that it is for everyone.

My chihuahua, Hank, got a double ear infection last week. He got medication and told me to bring him back this week. So as of Monday his ears are looking better, but still infected enough that they gave him another dose of antibiotic. Last night I picked him up and he yelped. Evidently he has hurt himself somehow. He cowers & shivers when we try to pick him up, he won't even jump upon the couch with me when I sit down. So I will be calling the vet at 7:30 to see about getting him in there today to see about why he is in pain. I gave him Carprofen (pain medication) yesterday, but it didn't seem to help any.

Tammy has a dentist appointment this morning to have a crown replaced, which was supposed to have been done back in March, but then Covid 19 happened. Shutting her dentist office down.

Well I am going to close here, am so sleepy t hat I feel I might topple over on my keyboard.

Hugs,
~Starr

It turns out little Ricco lives down the street from me. He went home last night. He was rescued a few months ago & sure did not know how to get home. I will be watching for him in case he gets out again.

The virus cases in my county went up about 20 yesterday. Our county has about 40,000 people. I live in the biggest town of about 10,000. I think we have about 59 cases confirmed so far with one death.

My youngest son sent me a basket of fresh fruit yesterday. What a treat! Apples, oranges, pears, bananas & a pineapple. One orange was so big I thought it might be a grapefruit. I cut into it thinking I would eat just part of it. It was so good I ate the whole orange last night.

Troy & Jan live about 90 miles from me so I am sure I will not be seeing them this Mothers Day. I may see my other two kids from a distance!

Last night I saw part of a broadcast on Facebook. It was a National Day of Prayer special. It was really a nice production . Did you happen to see it?

Today has been a different day for me. A cute little dog showed up at my house. At first he was shy but as I offered him food he was happy. He has no collar but appears to be recently groomed. I think he is an older dog, He is very quiet. He appears to be housebroke. My granddaughter brought down some dog food for him & boy was he hungry. My granddaughter posted his picture on two pet sites. He is such a nice dog that I think someone must be missing him. I think he is part pomeranian.

If no one claims him, I will probably keep him.

That has been my day!

Karen, thank you for telling me about you & Rolland. I am so sorry that you lost him. Since I lost my precious Alan 6 years ago; I understand your pain & loneliness. emoticon

Your social distancing get together with your family sounds like it was nice. Maybe my family can do that sometime soon.

I had a video appointment with my primary care doctor to get the results of my lab work for my thyroid--it was good. And today I have a video appointment with my Neurologist about my migraine headache medication. This afternoon I am going to make the almost 1 hour drive to the damn with my youngest DD. Just for us to get out of the house and do something. I am SICK of being confined to the house.

What a beautiful day in my neighborhood!

Sunny & temps in the 60's!

We ended up having a social distancing get together in my sons garage last night. It was a good idea since it started to rain. It was so nice to see 4 of my kids/spouses.

I decided to move furniture in my living room . I can now see my hanging baskets & lots of birds on my porch. It is suppose to rain tomorrow so will be a stay in day as my porch is not enclosed.

STARR.. You ask about Rolland & I. We met in 1994. We lived about 60 miles apart and after about 2 years of weekend dating we decided to get married. Rolland got a job in my town so he moved into my place. After a few weeks, we were not married so I said...Whoa...not going to live together. He got his own place & we continued to be in a friendship relationship. Rolland passed away in 2013. Sometimes I wish we would have worked through our differences & got married. We had both been hurt bad in our previous marriages so that held us back. We got along pretty good & enjoyed doing things together. We went to church together. Did lots of family things, ate out, ate in, watched movies. I never had any of that in my first marriage. I was married for 25 years & Rolland was married for 16 years. That is pretty much "our" story.

Take care everyone!

Hay there Karen,

The tomato emoticon & watermelon emoticon plant that I planted last week have already taken off with growing. I planted Strawberries last year, and they already have 30 or so strawberries on the plant, and a handful of them are already bright red. Last year I got only 2 or 3 strawberries, and they rotted before they were ripe enough to eat. emoticon

I do have a grab bar on my bathtub. But I am not strong enough to get myself pulled up out of the tub. emoticon I wish I had one of those walk-in tubs, but I can't afford it.

Hay Karen, I'd like to ask you a personal question; if you don't mind. (I'll understand if you don't want to answer.) Did I read in a post to me that you never married your partner, but lived together?

I agree with you that the public should wear face masks if employees are required to do so. But anywhere that I go outside of my house I wear one. A LOT of people are not wearing them around here. I don't think that is right, but not many people care what I think.

You have a wonderful day Karen.

STARR.. Such a great idea to get some veggies planted. More people seem to be getting back to putting out a garden.

Do you have a grab bar near your bathtub? I would not be able to get out of tub without it.

The big debate in my state is whether people should be required to wear a mask when entering a retail store? First it was to be required, now it is not required. I think it should be required if employees are required why not the customers.? Retail will reopen in a few weeks. Our state numbers still seem to be going up slightly.

Stay safe friends

Hi there ladies.

I am OK, except for being more then ready for this stupid virus to be OVER!

We had some tornadoes come thru yesterday evening. Tammy & I spent an hour in the bathtub. I am telling you, I wish there were another safe place that we could take cover. When we get me, her, and our 2 chihuahua's in the bathtub, there is zero room left. She has to partially sit on my legs and for me to get back up from the low bathtub, I feel like I need a crane. I actually hurt my ankle yesterday trying to get out after the coast was clear.

Yesterday I planted some watermelon & tomatoes, and two cactus plants. I was wanting to get some sweet potatoes & okra too, but they were sold out of the plants and didn't have any idea of when they would get another shipment of either one.

Glad that poison ivy is better!

I have a stuffed bear that I count walk! I bet those were some funny pictures

STARR.. You mentioned the dating sites. A few years ago I met some guys on CHRISTIAN MINGLE. You have to be careful on those sites. However... my son met Jan & they have been happily married for about 5 years. My granddaughter met Matt & they are married now, too.

I really wish it would warm up & get sunny at my place. My great granddaughter brought some tomato plants & a beautiful hanging basket over yesterday. Dear sister said I better bring them inside as it is going to freeze tonight.

Right now I am sitting under my heat blanket. I have had some bad IBS started yesterday. I told daughter it was worse than having a baby. LOL. I am really going to watch what I eat for a few days so those cramps & diarrhea stay away!

I watched my church service on line today. We have an interim pastor & he is really good . I wish he would stay but I suppose he will not. He is older.

Kitten, I am so sorry that you got poision ivy. That is some bad stuff. My eldest DD lives out in the country and she gets that awful stuff at least once a month. Nothing that her doctor has tried on her has helped. I hope you will have success with your medications for it.

Karen, that is great to hear that Megan and her baby are doing OK, and that Megan is home from the hospital. I hope that her baby will get home soon.

No, I didn't see where the beautician threw water on her client and then used a mop to scrub her hair. HOW FUNNY!! I laughed & laughed after I read what you wrote about that.

I hope that you guys have had a great day. Mine has been OK. Mostly housework after I took a package to UPS this morning.

Hay, do either of you know anyone who has used and had any positive success with dating sites? Or has had bad experiences?

I saw a video on YouTube this morning about how people in Mexico, I guess that the entire country is on complete lock down there, were coming up with innovative ways to get out of the house. The only thing they are allowed to do besides go to the doctor & get food is walk their pets. The video showed a man who was walking his gold fish in a bowl, a fake toy dog (one that walks with the help of batteries) on a leash, a lady was walking a chicken on a leash, and there was a man dressed up in a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex costume. He was out walking the streets. LOL.

KITTEN....Years ago I had a bad case of poison ivy so I sympathize with you. That steroid should help. I pulled the darn stuff. Now I know better!

STARR... Glad your hubbies friend survived the virus. Megan the young nurse got home this week. She was put in a special life support & got the plasma treatment to help her survive. Her baby is doing well but still in hospital. I hope your area did not have the tornado. I heard about it on TV.

Did you see the funny FB post of a lady getting her hair done. The beautician throws water on her & then uses a mop to scrub her hair. I had a LOL thinking of my granddaughter doing it next month.

My son is offering to get me some things from Krogers this weekend. I came up with a short wish list.

It might get up to 60 today & if it is not raining, I will get a short walk in. My pain has been higher lately & I think walking will help.

Enjoy your weekend!

Day 3 after the doctor gave me a script of steroids to clear up poison ivy. Keeping my fingers crossed. It seems like some of the smaller patches are getting smaller. Hopefully, it won't spread anymore. I'm trying to stay optimistic.

I sure hope we do not get a second wave of the virus. The good news is that we are more prepared with things that might help & the ventilators. It takes longer to recover as you get older. I am at high risk for the virus due to age & my weight is too high.

Another Spark friend gave me a fruit cake recipe that sounds delicious. I have frozen blueberries that I need to use up, but I will make it with apples, first. I have been thinking of making a pumpkin pie but I don't have evaporated milk. I read that you can use regular milk if you add corn starch.

It is suppose to get up to 60 degrees today. I hope it does. I got dressed &now I can take a walk. I think it would help me to feel better. My leg pain has been much higher lately. It is that time of year that Jill & I enjoyed the community garage sales. I haven't given up hope that we might be able to enjoy a few in July or August. What do you think? I am pretty sure that I will not be getting out around people much in May.

Our state governor has given everyone (except senior citizens & those who are immune compromised) the OK to go back to work! But I have noticed, on the news, that a lot people are not trying to go back to normal. Which I think is good.

I heard on the news that China is fearing a 2nd wave of the virus. I hope they are wrong, but it would not surprise me if that happens. In my thinking, if they get a 2nd wave, the U.S. probably will too.

The friend (my husband's good friend) I was telling you about who got the virus, he called me a couple days ago to say that after two negative testings, he has been deemed as not having Covid-19 and has completely recovered. Although, he said that he still is not feeling well. His doctor said that it will take him a bit of time to feel 100% again. I know that with me, when I get pneumonia or the flu, it is usually more then a month after symptoms go away before I start getting energy and feeling good again. But praise the Lord, he got well!! So I have had 2 friends get Covid 19, one of them passed away from it, the other has made recovery from it.

I agree that politicians, sports & movie stars should give some of their millions to help the average American's and small businesses get back on their feet.

No, the schools are not opening in my state. Not till, at least, August. But I have heard that the school board is considering not opening even then. Depending on how it is going with the Covid 19 issues.

STARR... I HOPE THAT ALEVE WORKS.. I take so many pain pills just to function.

I agree that opening things up is scary but it is also a scary thought that people might loose homes & business. My family members have mostly been working. Mail man, meat & bread companies. One granddaughter is not as she is hairdresser. Her hubby has a good job. I think the government is going to run out of money to give to people. It would be nice if Politicians, Sports & movie stars would give of their millions.

I know that I will be staying in for several more weeks. It might warm up enough that I can take a nice little walk. It is 41 degrees out now.

My daughter got me a mask. I think we have 13 cases in my county with my friends hubby being only death. We have around 400 deaths in Ohio. I think we are around number 17 in states with cases. It will be a few weeks before we start to reopen. It is now in a nursing home in my area. 4 residents & 2 staff.

Are the schools opening in your state? I think ours will not reopen til fall.

Lets pray we do not see a second outbreak of this nasty virus!

Hello there Karen;

I must have slept on my neck wrong last night. When I woke up this morning it was very stiff & painful. It was hurting so bad that I had to take some Aleve. I hate taking pain medication, but it felt like if I didn't get rid of the neck ache, that i was going to get a headache. The top of my spine was hurting too.

Well, I just heard on the local news that our governor is opening up the economy today!! Even though him & the president has been saying daily for more than a week that April 21st is going to be the peak of the Corona virus. Yesterday our Mayor was practically begging everyone to stay home, don't go outside unless you have to go to grocery store, dr. or pharmacy. Then this morning our governor says that everyone can go back to work now. If everyone proceeds as he says, there is going to be a 2nd (possible more deadly) wave of the virus in this state!! I don't' agree with it at all. He said that everyone who is not a senior citizen or has a compromised immune system, can go back to work or being out in public as much as they like. So all of those people going out in public is going to be bringing the germs/virus back to the homes of the senior citizens & immune compromised. I just don't know what in the world my public officials are thinking!!! It is beyond crazy!

I love your sigh; does anyone know if we can take showers yet or should we just keep washing our hands? LOL!

Each state will decide when it is ready to reopen. I do not think Ohio will reopen on May 1. Our Gov, was pretty quick to put restrictions so I think he will be slow in removing them. Perhaps some will be lifted mid May.

It did NOT seem like Easter. Even with the services being held on-line, with only 3 or 4 people at the church, it didn't seem like Easter at all. And not being able to get together with family and have a meal--it just wasn't the same. To me, it seemed like just another day, even though I KNOW that it was not. It doesn't matter if we celebrate to the hilt or do nothing at all, Jesus still died and rose for us. And THAT is what we truly need to be totally thankful for! It's just that going to church, and being around family with a special meal (for me) make what He did seem even more special.

My friend called me last night and she was telling me that she and several people she knows think that this mess with the Corona virus is going to last till at least September. I HOPE they are wrong about that. Trump is talking about opening up America again on the 1st of May. I am worried about going out and getting the virus after that. How does he/the CDC know that it will be gone by May 1st, when there are still hundreds of people being diagnosed & dying? I don't understand where he gets the idea that everything is going to be OK in 16 days from now.

I don't know about you, but I always hate boiling & peeling eggs. The shells never come off easily for me and I usually lose egg in the process. I have tried pouring salt in to the water with the eggs, but that (for me) does not help them peel easier. So a few days ago, I either heard or read somewhere, that if you put a tablespoon of baking soda into the water that it will make the shells "almost" slide off of the eggs when you are ready to peel them. Well I tired it, and they do not slide off, but they are much easier to peel. Out of a dozen eggs only 3 of them did I loose any egg because of sticking to the shell. Usually, on a dozen of eggs, I loose at least half of the eggs white part. One time I lost egg from every egg in the entire dozen.

Did you know that you can freeze grapes and have them still be firm when they are de thawed? I didn't know this until last week. I read/saw that if you freeze grapes they will taste sweeter after being de thawed. Low and behold, they really were sweeter, and retained their quality too.

Well, I called the tag agency and found out that they have a drive-up window where you can get your car tags. Their lobby is not open but the drive-window is. They have installed that window since this time last year, as they didn't have it when I got my car tags renewed last April. So, I am happy to get that done. While I was out, I filled my car up with gas. It was only half empty, but I like to keep my tank full as much as I can. You never know what may happen and you need to go somewhere ASAP. I also stopped at the pharmacy and picked up 3 medications that were ready to go.

I am so glad that your electricity was not out long enough for you to loose food or for your phone to go dead.

MAKE 2020 THE BEST YOU CAN.

STARR... I agree the thought of opening back up is scarry. I think those of us older ones will be advised to stay put. I worry about my sons who have high bp & one is diabetic. They are still working but when everyone else is out they will be at greater risk.

In my state the gov.said you would not be fined for late car plates. Those offices are closed.

My cars battery is dead so I will have to wait to get out for a drive around the lake. My sisters BF put a charger on it yesterday & will get it out of the garage later today. When the power went out I realized I could not get my car out of garage & with battery dead, I could not charge my phone. I only had two hours of wondering if the phone would go dead & the food would spoil!

Take care.this too shall pass!

Hello there.

Well, we got snow & below freezing temperatures last night and early this morning. My eldest DD did quite a bit of outside planting last week (flowers, trees & vegetables). I told her that she might ought to wait till the 1st of May before planting, because it might freeze between then and the 1st. But she told me that with our weather having been in the 70ís & 80ís recently, she was not worried about freezing. I told her that any kind of weather can come around in April (and even in May for that matter) and that if it were me, Iíd wait on planting things. But, she didnít listen, so will probably lose most of the things that she planted. For today, our high will not get above the freezing point and the meteorologist says that there is a good chance of more snow.

I think it is scary thinking about everything being opened back up. Just how, Iíd like to ask the President, do we know that it REALLY is safe to resume life as we knew it before this horrible pandemic? As far as I know, we canít know. Tammyís company has plans of opening back up the 1st of May. It is going to take convincing before I will believe that itís safe to send her back to work. There have been so many surgeries canceled at hospitals here where I live and all of the doctors, nurses & nurse aids were laid off in the surgical departments in all of our hospitalís till further notice. But yet, every time I hear the news, they are saying that there are a shortage of nurses & doctorís in the departments of the hospitals where the Covid 19 patients are being treated. So, Iíd like to ask the hospital administrators, why didnít all those medical personnel go to the departments were there were shortages, instead of laying off perfectly fine & willing medical personnel from departments that are non critical at the moment? Sometimes peoples thinking processes boggle my mind!

My car taxes are due by April 30th, and the tag agency is not open. I hope that they are not going to charge people for not getting their tags renewed when they are due in April.

I glad that your electricity was out for only a few hours. Last May my neighborhood was hit by a tornado and we were without electricity for 3 days. That was a bad experience. I lost all of the food in my fridge and the fridge freezer. I'd just gone shopping the day before the tornado, so there was a lot of food lost.

That is fantastic that the nurse & little boy are off of live support. That is wonderful to hear.

I am a day late in getting on but my Easter was happy. I watched programs on TV & You tube. I decided to use the beef my daughter had canned to make some beef & noodles. It was really good.

STARR... It sounds like your family had a good 45 minutes of seeing each other in a different way! Sure hope our next Easter will be different!

DD brought me supper but before I had a chance to microwave it the power went out. I am sure I was not the only one wondering how long the outage would be with a freezer full of food. The outage lasted about 2 hours so everyones food was safe. Thank God!

We got some encouraging news about the young nurse mom. She is off of the life support & doing ok with just the ventilator. The little boy is off of the ventilator & just on oxygen. He is doing good.

It is 40 degrees out this morning. I am glad I was able to sit outside on my swing yesterday.

emoticon Karen, I hope you had a good Easter.

Mine was different. We didn't have any special food, but we did get to see all of my family & my eldest DD's family (minus my son, 3 grandsons & brother) thru the internet. I don't know how he did it, but my son-in-law was able to get everyone in the family linked up thru their computers and all 11 people were on each other's TV/computers. It was kind of hard hearing a lot of what was being said, as there was a lot of talking over one another. Not on purpose, but when you have that many people all trying to have a conversation on a computer, it is not ideal for hearing everything that is being said. All of us were on there about 45 minutes. It is the 1st time I have done something such as that, and although it was far from idea, it is betting then not seeing anyone at all.

I went early this morning to pick up groceries at the pick up place, and noticed that gas is down again, to $1.29 a gallon. I heard someone post on Facebook awhile back that now we can afford to fill our gas tanks, but are quarantined and aren't allowed to go anywhere that is not essential. Boy, isn't that the truth!

Well the past 2 days I am been so sleepy within an hour after getting out of bed. Right now I am so sleepy, I can barely hold my eyes open. emoticon I am considering laying down for a nap after lunch.

Yesterday we had a slight chance of tornadoes, but the temperature never got higher then 60. That is not tornado weather. But some tornadoes did go thru Texas and tore up quite a bit of things. But, as far as I heard on the news, no body was hurt. Which is great. But it is a Easter that they will never forget. When I got up this morning it was only 30 degrees.....burrr. I got up, went to the bathroom, turned up the heater a couple of degrees and hopped back in bed till the chill had subsided.

I woke up early on this chilly day. No plans but will try to make it a really good day. My daughter called last night. She is really missing other people. She went to the school to pick up lessons her students returned but said not many came in. I told her the President mentioned her in his speech. He said people are getting stir crazy in their homes & apartments. I would imagine it is really hard for those people who are used to getting out everyday. It is day # 30 for me to be home. I take solace in knowing that it would be pretty cold for those community garage sales Jill & I would be going to. Small sacrifice.

Starr... I think Oklahoma has about 30 deaths. That is a lot less then 500. I sure hope my state & no state gets to that number. I know New York has more than that. Maybe New Jersey has, too. It is really hard to keep up. I think our death number is up to 69 now.

Take care!

What state are you in? I was thinking Oklahoma. That sounds like a high number of deaths. I know New York is really high. Not sure what other states are real high. We are at 59 today, I think.

Don't give up Starr. We will get through this horrible period. GOD is with us!

As of the news last night, more then 500 people in my state have died from the virus. It is horrible for the entire world. Also on the news last night, they said that (I can't remember if it was Italy or China) was starting to go the down hill slop from all the deaths and infected, but now new people are starting to get sick again. Like the virus has gotten a 2nd wind.

I am SO exhausted, both mentally & physically. I am already not a good sleeper, but since this Coronavirus took hold, I am sleeping only 2 or 3 hours a night. Sometimes not even that much. When I lay down during the day I can't go to sleep! I hate it. emoticon

Starr... I put my mail on the floor & will look at it later. I read my paper & then wash my hands. As far as my groceries go...my daughter drops them off at my door. I try to wipe down things that go in the fridge. I wash fruit in wash water with dish soap. The thing in boxes & bags I leave in the bag & will get them out later when I need them a few weeks/days down the road. I saw a video that said you should take things like cereal out of the box & leave in the bag.

I guess it is possible to get it from paper/cardboard box but I am going to try to focus on & trust in the Lord. He sure has brought me through many storms.

I found out today that the 29 year old did not have the virus. He had been exposed but did not have it. Autopsy said he had a heart attack.

Your state has 300 who passed away? I did not know that.

Take care.

Hello there Karen.

I hope that the experts are correct about warm weather killing off this horrible virus. We had a high of 96 a couple days ago and ALL of last week was in the 80's & 90's. Which is very uncommon for Oklahoma at this time of year. I heard on the news last night that the president/CDC expects the height of this pandemic will be from the middle to end of April, and then expecting things to start to get back to "normal" around the beginning of June. If it is June, it will be almost 4 months that the U.S. have/had been dealing with this mess. All of the deaths & sickness is very scary. Every day I am praying for people who are sick, especially those who are in the hospital. Because of it being contagious, family & friends aren't allowed to visit them at all--at least they aren't allowed in my state. You know that has got to be so lonely as well as scary for them in that situation.

I am so paranoid with worry about getting germs somehow. Even getting the mail from the mail box. Yes, I can sanitize my hands, but how do you sanitize paper? Or is paper even an issue? It has been said on the news many times that even the "officials" don't know for sure of all the exact ways that the virus can be transmitted, along with the "the spray" that comes out when you cough & sneeze. I have read a few people her on SP say that grocery bags, both paper & plastic, hold the germs. But then other people say that they don't. So how do we know? I have a small container of Clorox wipes, as well as hand sanitizer, in my car. So when I have gone thru drive-thru's I use the sanitizer on my hands. I went to the ATM the other day. After the transaction was finished, I put sanitizer on my hands and wiped down my debit card with the Clorox wipe. And what about money? Is it safe, if notÖ..how do you sanitize it!!

Wow, getting an hour of massage for $25.00--that was cheap. Even back in the 80's. Now that same massage would be about $150.00 for only 45 minutes.

No you didn't mention that you had a 29 year old man in your state pass away from the virus. Earlier this month we had a 4 year old pass away from it. There have been a just over 300 who have passed away and about 1000 who have tested positive.

I am glad to see you post, Starr. I am sure it is hard for Tammy to understand. I have heard it is hard for those dealing with dementia, too. Maybe this post will give you a new idea.

I hope you can see this. It was shared by a local nursing home. It is a list of things we can do to keep busy. I plan to try a new recipe for scalloped potatoes.

My fibro has been worse & I agree it might be more sitting. It is still chilly here. Just 42 degrees! Too cold for me to sit out on my porch. It is very cloudy. I hear we may get some sunshine on Saturday!

I have not heard any updates on Becki or her hubby. I sent her a card. Thanks for the prayers. I am sure she appreciates all prayers. I met Becki in 1988. She was part of a support
group for those dealing with difficult relationships. After the meetings ended she would give me an hour massage for just $25.00 because she knew I had fibro & not much money. She also worked at a hospital giving those breathing treatments.

Did I mention we had a local man just 29 years old pass away from the virus? I think he had asthma. He was at home with his parents when he passed. I think the president was just trying to be optimistic with his Easter comments. I think many people are renewing their faith during this crisis. Are their many cases in your state? I think Ohio is about number 15 on list of states with the cases. This is not a list that anyone wants to be number one.

I hear Amazon is streaming a movie about bipolar illness. I am going to try to check it out this evening.

Hello there Karen,

Well, did you get around to/the energy to clean off your washer & dryer and do some filing? I have another batch of filing that I need to do, but don't have the energy/drive to do so.

How are your friends husband (in the hospital) and Becki doing? I have prayed for both of them.

The high was 96 degrees here yesterday!! YUCK!! The local meteorologist said that we donít normally have that high of temperatures till the end of June or beginning of July.

Tammy is very perplexed as to why she canít go to work and on the weekly outings with her peers. As well as why we canít go see her sister, niece & brother-in-law and go to church. Itís been really had on her, and hard on me as well because it is so difficult to keep her busy and her mind off of her not being able to get out and do her normal, non-pandemic, activities. She does not understand what a pandemic is or why it is keeping her from going & doing.

The past week or so my body has been SO painful from the fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis & scoliosis that I have. But I think that all of the extra sitting in front of the TV has had an impact on that too. I donít, usually, do nearly as much sitting as what I have done since Tammy & I went into self isolation almost 3 weeks. So instead of suffering, like I have been doing the past week or so, I took some Aleve this morning. Thinking that it was not going to help that much, if at all. I was very happily shocked to find that within 45 minutes most of the pain was gone and has stayed gone all day.

I understand the tulips that your grandfather planted being special to you. My husband, Alan, passed away 6 years ago this month. The month after he passed away I planted a rose bush in his honor, and have done the same every spring since. So I have 5 of them planted and will plant another in April or May. Those rose bushes mean a lot to me because they represent the kindness, security & love that my Alan gave to me for so many years.

Your potato soup sounds good. I never worry about using my milk by the "use by" date. But, I make sure that it is used up by a week or so after.

I heard Trump say a few days ago that he wanted everyone back in church and to their normal activities by Easter. Well, that would be wonderful. But since that is only 2 weeks away, I don't see that happening.

Yes, it is very awesome that we can "go to church" on YouTube & the internet. I think that both are wonderful inventions. I have also thought that it would be great if this pandemic would bring a lot of people to the Lord. I hope it happens.

OK Karen, this is it for me for today.

Hugs to you,
Starr

Starr... My town is about 10,000. We have many restaurants that offer drive through. I am on day 15 of staying in. My kids insist it stay that way. My sister said she got last of favorite dog food at Menards & no lysol available. You have inspired me to clean off top of my dryer & maybe even file some papers. I won't promise that! I sure am glad my internet problem was fixed & I can watch movies on Amazon & get news from Fox channel.

Yesterday I did sit out on my porch for a few minutes. I plan to get out there again today as temps are going up to 60. Yesterday I saw that my tulips are coming up nicely. My grandpa planted them when he lived here many years ago. They are extra special!

I have a friend whose husband is in hospital with the virus. I hear he is not doing good. I think he was in hospital for other reasons & tested for virus. Becki & her adult son are in quarantine. Her grandchild is too. Becki took care of the child while son worked. Her son works with my DIL. So far they have no symptoms so are not being tested. Please pray for Becki, She is a really nice lady a few years younger than I am.

I am trying to look at my supplies & use them wisely. Yesterday I made a small pot of potato soup. My milk is several days past use date but I used it anyways. I am going to ask my daughter if I might put an order in at Krogers & have her pick it up. She put an order in earlier in week & it will not be ready for several days. Just trying to think ahead. I do not think Ohio will be open for business on Easter. Our Gov. is doing a really good job & very conservative.

Isn't it great to have local church available on You tube & Facebook. I watched another church devotional from my town yesterday. Perhaps this crisis will stir many people to look to God for their needs & salvation.
Stay well everyone

Good afternoon Karen.

Oh, I love that biblical saying that you wrote. Thank you for that.

The fish sandwich that your sister dropped off and the homemade veggie soup that your son made sounds so good. I love both of those.

We went on a mandatory ďstay at home orderĒ today. I was at Dollar Tree this morning, and it was not all that bad. But I did go in the middle of the morning when a lot of people are at work. And this afternoon Wal-Martís pick up service was not busy at all. There were no cars there when I drove up, and only 1 car came in as I was sitting there for about 10 minutes.

Thank you for telling me about that movie, A Wifeís Nightmare, Karen. I will go look that up on Amazon or Netflix when I get thru here on Spark people.

Tammyís company closed down today, till at least the 21st of April; along with almost all of the restaurants in our small (population of just over 21 thousand) city. There are a couple of them, which have drive-thruís, that are still open. But that does not leave much in this city in the way of already made food. My petís vetís office/hospital closed their office down last week, and is doing only video appointments now. They have a drive-up window so that a person can go pick up medications for their pet, if needed. But I am wondering, how are they going to ďexamineĒ pets if they canít even lay their hands on them? Guess that time will tell on that one.

Well, I went to the Dollar Tree this morning to get a few things that were needed, and I few things that were not (so much) needed. No toilet paper, paper dinner napkins, Kleenex or paper towels at all. It is kind of odd, as we have a Kimberly-Clark factory/plant here in Oklahoma. So I would think that there would not be a shortage of TP or other paper products. I was talking to my friend yesterday, who lives in Oregon. She said that they have a toilet paper factory/plant where she lives, and they also donít have any TP or paper products.

I have spent the last two days trying to get some paperwork done and sent off that is mandatory that I do at this time every year. Well, I couldnít figure out how to get it scanned into a document onto my computer so that I could e-mail it to the company that it needs to go to. So I took it to the local agency, which is a branch, of where it needs to go. But they are closed because of the C-19. So I took it to my bank to have it faxed. But my bank lobby is closed and they donít/wonít do anything at the drive-thru except take and give money. This paperwork is very time sensitive and needs to get to its destination by April 1st. So I was complaining to my eldest DD about my predicament, and she said that her DH, who is the IT person at a private school, can take it to work with him tomorrow and fax it. Praise the Lord. I told him that as soon is this virus is under control, I will be giving him a huge hug. So, that is one worry off of my mind that I wonít have to deal with again till next year.

Since Tammy & I have been self-isolating, I have managed to get a few things done that I have been wanting to accomplish for awhile. 1) Filing that had been back logged for many monthsóeven a year in some cases. 2) The two book shelves that I have all of my projects that I have completed with crocheting. I packed up 21 blankets that I have made over the past 2 years and am going to donate them to the veteranís hospital in a city 45 minutes from her. In that process I also found many unused skeins of yarn that I didnít know that I had. A good thing. 3) I cleared everything off of the top of my front loading washer & dryer. There were all kinds of thing there that didnít need to be. I put back all of the things that should be there, and am now happy that they are not all cluttered. 4) I cleared everything off of the top of the shelves in my bathroom. Again, things that should not be there. I had a wire rack which I was storing my towels in, but it was in shambles. Iíd reworked it several times to try to make it last a bit longer. But it was just falling apart anyway. So I put all of the towels on the top of that shelve that I cleared and threw away the wire rack. Now, Iíd like to get into my walk-in closet and organize it, but I donít see that happening any time soon. I still have almost all of my precious Alanís clothes, and have no plan of parting ways with them any time soon.

Well, the high temperature was 81 degrees today, and tomorrow it is suppose to be 92~~in March! Jeeze, we just now got into spring, but are already having summer temperatures!! Blah. Last Friday was the 1st mow of my front/back yard for the season. The grass was so high that my Chihuahuaís were getting ďlostĒ in it. When they were in it, all I could see were their tails sticking up.

Hugs to you Karen, I hope you have a wonderful & relaxing evening or tomorrowÖdepending on when you read this.

Starr... I am doing ok. Sister dropped of a delicious fish sandwich yesterday & I still have some of my sons homemade veggie soup. Since we went on a mandatory "Stay Home" yesterday, I hear the grocery stores are empty again.

I watched a movie the other night that captured my attention for 90 minutes. I think you might like it. It is A WIFE'S NIGHTMARE.

Hello there Karen.

I hope that your doing well and are managing to keep yourself busy.

I am dealing with more depression then usual, so am having a really hard time getting the oomph to get up and do things. And even when I do managed to get the mental strength to do so, it still doesn't make me feel any better. emoticon

A lot more then I should, I really look forward to going to bed every night. A few times I've even gone to bed at 6 in the evening.

Oh, that is an excellent idea that your sister had of both of you sitting on opposite ends of your yard and putting a pizza in the middle. But I am like you, in that I am hard of hearing....so that situation would not be ideal for me either. But it is a GREAT idea.

I hope you'll have a blessed and good day today Karen.

Starr... I agree it is really hard to keep our minds off of the virus news. You have a nice list of things to do to help with that.

Last night my dear sister & I had a good laugh. My idea was for her to bring her lawn chair & put it on one side of my lawn. I will sit on the other side. We could put a nice pizza in the middle. We could take turns getting a slice of pizza. We could enjoy the great outdoors together but she would need to talk REALLY loud since I cannot hear well.

I like the idea of displaying our American flag.

What scripture is giving you comfort at this time?

Good morning,

Yesterday all of the banks in Oklahoma closed all of their lobbies. Only drive-thru and the ATM machines are available. Which is as it should be. I read yesterday that all of AMC movie theaters (51 of them as a whole in the U.S.) are closing because of Covid 19. The owner of all of them was telling the news that everyday they are not open & showing movies, that is thousands of dollars that they are not getting to be able to run the theaters. Said that the government needs to give them money in order for them to be able to open when this mess if over. I don't see how they think that they should get financial help above any other business that has had to close down due to the virus.

I am also sick of all the horrible news that is delivered to us with the news everyday. I have had people tell me that I need to do things that make me happy and not think about this mess that is going on in the world right now. Well, it does not matter who I do (painting, bible study, watching things on TV-not the news, reading) it does not keep my mind from going back to this mess every minute or so. Some people may be able to block things out, but I am not about to do that.

On the news this morning they were talking to a 20 something year about what he though about self-isolating. He told the news reporter that there was no way that he was not going to go places and be out in public to have fun unless the police make him stay in his house. Talk about selfish and uncaring!!

What I am trying to do to keep my self occupied is watching TV, painting, bible study and Sparkpeople. But, it's not really working much.

You please take care of yourself.

Hugs, Starr

I don't have a pet but many do.

I try not to think of the worse case scenario. All 3 of my kids in their 50's & have hypertension & 1 is diabetic. My granddaughter is a nurse & her hubby has severe health issues. I have 2 young great grandsons with medical problems. My brother has COPD. Trusting God is all I have & that must be enough. I do think the President & my Gov are doing a good job. I wish everybody would follow their advice & not be so critical of them. Their job is sure not an easy one right now! Most young people have not been through trials & difficult days that us older people have.

Sorry you cannot get the Vitamin C. I gave my granddaughter & sister most of my elderberry. They are still working & GD has 5 kids that depend upon her. I still have some other supplements & hope more elderberry will come from amazon. I do think those items will be replaced & available soon. Hope people do not over buy like with the toilet paper.

Are you doing anything to help destress? Every afternoon around 4, I head to my bathtub for an epsom salt soak. I need to order more of the salt. I also dug out some adult coloring books.

Take care dear friends!

Hay there Karen.

Well, Tammy & I (as well as all of my family & our pets) are doing well.

Aside from not getting sick, I am worried about the abundance (or lack thereof I should say) of food, water & medication. Am also worried about people having to leave their jobs (either from being sick or company closing down because of the virus) and what kind of impact it is going to have as far as services that we need. Like delivery of food to the stores that we shop at, medications to pharmacies, electricity, heat & A/C (if this thing goes on till it is hot. The hot business is for me this week. Itís supposed to be in the low to mid 80ís today & tomorrow.

All of our bars, clubs, libraries, schools, collages, a lot of churches, have been shut down by the mayor. Also any restaurant which does not have drive-thru has been closedótill further notice. And the Mayor says that any group meetings consisting of more then 10 people is not permitted. Most of the schools are on Spring break right now, was supposed to have resumed school the 30th of March. But because of the virus all schools are closed till at least the 15th of April.

I have less than 2 weeksí worth of EmergenC left for me & Tammy. I looked for it on Amazon & Wal-Mart, and a local family owned grocery store---all of them are sold out of it or anything that has vitamin C in it. I am not happy about that. I was down to my last box of it when this mess hit. And I was going to restock on my next trip to the store. But they had nothing of any kind.

I heard Trump say yesterday that this mess could last till July or August, and possibly a whole year. I pray that he is wrong on both accounts.

That is a beautiful picture Karen.

I love this beautiful picture! We sure need some pretty things to look at today!

The virus is scary. My Gov. has now restricted restaurants & bars from sales other than carry out. Many people are upset but I appreciate his efforts to try to contain this outbreak. I have a granddaughter who is Head Nurse in a clinic & she said it is a very serious situation. She shared a video from a Dr in Italy. We need to do all we can to avoid the situation they are in.

I am staying busy in my home & have plenty to eat. My family will get any supplies I might need, My daughter just dropped off bacon, canned beef, cinnamon bread, lettuce, water & snacks. My sister dropped off TB & paper towels. Both refused to come in the house. I have orders from my daughter to stay home. I know it is harder for many people.

It is very scary if you think about all the possibilities. This is certainly a day to put our trust in the Lord. I have not been sanitizing things too much. I guess I figure I am the only one in this house so I wash hands like normal & I washed my hands after I put the groceries away. I am really much more concerned about my family.

I wish the states on west coast & New York would have put restrictions on sooner. It sounds like the virus is really getting out of control in those states.

Wonder if we have anyone on this team from those states. ? Pray it will end soon.

Hi there Karen,

I am SO drained over this stupid Corona virus. That is all that is talked about from the news sources and everyone around. This mornings news says that American's need to hunker down and be ready for the long haul. As I know that every state does, we have businesses, schools closing. Being told to not get out of your house unless it is an emergency.

This morning I had to go to the pharmacy (I went thru the drive thru) and stopped at the convenience store to fill up my gas tank. Last week our gas was about $2.25 a gallon, today it is $1.57. I have not seen gas decrease in price like this since the beginning of the Persian Gulf war in 1991.

I am hearing people say that, because of people getting sick and a lot of businesses closing, were not going to be able to get prescriptions, by gas, groceries or get money from our banks.

Eldest DD told me this morning that her DH went to Wal;mart yesterday to find everything in the cold/flu/allergy/pain isle completely bare. She, my DD, has 3 vehicles (2 cars & a truck) which she said they filled up this morning. She is expecting things to get really bad.

What is your opinion on all of this?

Tammy is still going to work twice a week. They have a LOT of hand sanitizer, which the job coaches are constantly telling them to use. Tammy's job does not require her to touch any body or anything that may have a "bug" on it. Her company has canceled all of the fun activities that they were doing with the clients-untill further notice. Tammy is not at all happy about that, nor does she understand why.

My hands are cleaner then they have probably ever been. Every morning and afternoon I am taking a Clorox wipe and wiping down the TV remote control, my computer mouse & keyboard, all the door knobs & dead bolts (both interior & exterior). Even cleaning the fridge, microwave & stove handle's. I think that Tammy thinks I have lost my marbles with all the hand washing or putting on sanitizer that I am constantly on her to do. The stupid thing over the toilet paper (everyone stocking on it) , as I said, is stupid. Toilet paper is not the only thing that you can wipe yourself with. In a pinch I have used paper towels, paper dinner napkins--and I have even used wash clothes. The good thing about wash clothes is that you can wash & use again--if need be.

STARR....Glad your son is doing better. Tha is sure not right that the H& R charge so much. I know my granddaughter decided to do hers on line since the fees to have it done is so much.

Gatherings of more than 100 are banned in my state. Schools are closed & visitors to nursing homes are prohibited. Lots of tough decisions but best to try to prevent an overload to medical system. I am blessed that I have family willing to get me what I might need. I have meds & food to last me many weeks. I will pretty much isolate myself from everyone. I have phone, email, Spark, & facebook to keep me connected. Many thing I can do at home so not getting bored.

Stay well.

Hay there. I hope that you are doing well Karen.

I slept the "wrong way" on my neck last night-what little I did sleep-and now it hurts badly. I took some Aleve, but it didn't help any. emoticon

I am so sick of hearing about how dreadful the Corona virus is and how the world is (so news officials are acting like) coming to an end. And I am baffled as to why people, if there really were a national emergency, are clearing the store shelves of toilet paper? My 1st stressor would be getting food & water. Granite we do need TP, but not before food & drink. I have a small bottle of sanitizer in my purse and one in the car. Anytime that we go into or come out of a building, we pour it on our hands, and I am wiping down door knows, the dead bolts & light switches at home with a sanitizing wipe at least twice a day.

Yesterday I took Tammy to her 6 month dentist appointment. Found out that she needs to have a crown replaced in the back of her mouth. That is scheduled for next month.

Then went to H & R Block to file her taxes. Her return was only $316.00, but they charge $177.00 to file them. I think that is a total rip off of them to charge almost half of what I person is getting back in income taxes, ESPECIALLY when it is for a mentally challenged person. So we had a choice of paying the fee or her not getting back anything at all!! I'd planned on getting her a new mattress for her bed with her income tax. So, I will have to add money to that in order to get her a decent one.

Then last night she went with her work friends & job coach to a Mexican food restaurant for dinner. I knew that she was going to come home with beef nachos leftovers. That is what she always orders at Mexican restaurants. I like to try different things, she does not. When weíre getting pizza, she wants pepperoni. Any place that sells hamburgers, that is what she gets. She is a really predictable person. When her job coach brought her home, she told me that the company that Tammy works is putting all activities (except for work) on hold till further notice. The job coach told me that there are usually 18 or so, not counting job coaches, at their several times a month gatherings. Last night there were only 7, people there.

This afternoon I took my grand dog to the groomers. I do this every spring; as he has a really long & thick coat. My DD keeps him shaved during the summer, but that first shave after the winter months is a huge job for her to tackle. So I donít mind taking him to be professionally groomed for the 1st time of the season. He always looks handsome, but even more so when his hair is all groomed neatly and all of that long hair is off of him. Even during the winter he pants a lot from being hot, so I know that he appreciates being groomed.

I talked to my son this afternoon, he has the flu. He said that he is doing much better since the antibiotic has taken effect. Thankfully none of my 3 grandsonís have become sick. My son WAS contagious there for awhile, as he was running a fever.

My eldest DD has not felt well this week, but I think it has mostly been allergy issues. Iíve also been having a hard time with allergies. The fact that our temperatures have been in the 70ís & 80ís all this week has had a pretty big impact on folks who have issues with allergies.

We have had a lot of cancellations, including schools closing and students doing their work on-line here too. The beginning of this week a (I think it was a basketball team) had a game in Oklahoma City. But one of the players tested positive for the Covid 19 virus. So even though the entire stadium was packed with people, the game was called off. They didnít say anything about it on the news, but I would think that all of the spectators will be refunded their money. The team is from Utah, but the one player has been quarantined here in Oklahoma. I assume that the rest of team went back to Utah. The news says that any event that has more than 500 people in attendance is being canceled. Personally, I think that no matter how many people are at an event, it should be canceled.

I have heard that there are people here in Oklahoma who have been laid off/fired from their jobs because they have gotten the Covid 19 virus. That is NOT right. They certainly didnít get sick on purpose.

Well, that's it for me. Going to go fix some dinner.

Hugs,
Starr

What a great thought!

My Governor has declared a STATE OF EMERGENCY. Right now we only have 4 confirmed cases of the virus but many others are being tested. He is expected to mandate that large gathering events be cancelled. Many might be upset. Both of my sons have tickets for the MARCH MADNESS games & rooms reserved. I am sure they have been looking forward to this mini vacation but I appreciate the governor being proactive in trying to control the spread of this virus. Our hospitals, doctors & nurses will not be able to handle this if it gets out of control like it is in Italy. I plan to stay home & enjoy life as it is. This too shall pass!

STARR... It is truly amazing what our computers & phones are able to bring to us. Enjoy your bible study!

Well, my son has the flu, not corona. But his doctor said that the flu is 10 X worse then corona. THAT sure is NOT what the news and media outlets have been saying. Oh, me visiting my son is not even an issue. He & my 3 grandsons live a 17 hour drive away. In the past 2 years I have seen them only 2 times.

Yesterday I had brunch with my eldest DD, and in the afternoon she & I made the hour drive to pick up more paint for our ceramics.

Today she is coming over to work on our ceramics together, and then this afternoon were having bible study; via video conference on our cell phones. I have never done this, so not sure how it is going to work. Until yesterday I didn't even know that my cell phone could do that. Were doing bible by video conference because one of the ladies has her mom living with her and taking care of her because of dementia and a breathing issue. Our friend does not want to go anywhere and bring something back taking a chance of giving her mom something that her weakened immune system cannot handle.

Yesterday I went to file income taxes. I got there about 3 minutes before another lady did, but she was taken first. There was only one worker there and I asked why she was being taken care of before me when I arrived first. I was told that they had only 1 worker. I told her that having only 1 worker didn't have anything to do with it. The fact is that I arrived first, so I should have been taken care of first. The worker told me that it would be only a few minutes, since she had already taken the ladies income tax papers. Well, a few minutes turned out to be more then 30 minutes. And the last 15 minutes of that the worker had finished with the ladies taxes and they were "chatting" about daycare and the problems that one of the ladies was having with her daughters home school program. Neither one of which has anything to do with taxes. I asked how much longer it was going to be, as I didn't have all afternoon to wait, was told just a few minutes. I told the worker that was what she said 30 minutes ago. The worker just gave me a glare when I told her what she had said. So I got up and left!! I will go to some other tax agency tomorrow or Friday.

You mentioned to me watching the movie THE GIFT. Because of you I now have that movie in my "watch list" on Netflix. I plan on watching it this evening. Am looking forward to it; judging by description & trailer is looks like it is going to be a good one. Thank you for telling me about it.

OK, I know this is short, but I have a couple things that I need to do before eldest DD gets here.

Hugs to you.

That is so true!

I do hope your son does not have the virus. Be a good idea for you to not visit him or anyone he is in contact with. The scary part is that you can carry the virus without symptoms & expose others that may be at high risk.

Well, Starr, I was thinking of you last night as I watched an older movie(2000). It was a little on the scary side. Name of movie is THE GIFT. It starred Keanu Reeves & Cate Blanchett.

Short post today

Good morning Karen. I sure do hope that the new members will join us. That would be awesome.

I have been working on my ceramic piece just about every day. It is 4 or 5 colored eggs standing one on top of the other on a patch of grass. The next time I pick a ceramic piece to do, I will take extra care in NOT getting something that is so detailed. This piece that I am working on now is taking so long to complete because there are a bunch of tiny details. You need to have steady hands and good eyesight to do the details, neither of which I have (for the most part).

Eldest DD & I drove the 25 minute drive to pick up some more ceramic paint, but found them to be closed when we got there on Saturday afternoon. I would think that Saturday would be their busiest day, but they closed at 11:00 AM. They are not open again till Monday morning. So we wasted almost an hour driving--for nothing. So, we'll have to go back next week. My eldest DD has reached a point in her piece that she needs different colors then what we have on hand. I took a picture when I first started, and I will take another picture of the finished product.

Friday evening/night me, both my DD's my son-in-law and a good friend all meant at eldest DD's house for a fish fry. I LOVE fish; especially catfish, bass & tilapia. DD's husband cooked tilapia, with baked beans, garlic broccoli & tater tots. I don't normally go back for 2nd's, but I did then. After the kitchen was cleaned up and the table cleared, all of us sat down to play a card came called Skip-Bo. Oh my, that was so much fun. All of us were laughing, some quite a bit harder than others. There were a few points that I was laughing so hard that my eyes were watering! DD's husband is a very sly and avid card player. So it is hard to catch him off guard and 9 items out of 10 he will be, at least laid down most of his cards on the table, if he has not gone completely out. Well twice my eldest DD caught him with a huge hand full of cards; he hadn't even laid anything down on the table yet. Imagine the look on his face when that happened--TWICE!! DD said that she was still egging him about how she was able to go down and get rid of all the cards in her hand before he even laid down. It was all in good fun, or course, but it will take him awhile to live that down--if ever.

My 38 year old son thinks that he has the Corona virus. He wonít go to get tested; even though he has 3 teenage sons living with him. It really irritates me that he will not take precautions to protect himself and my grandsons.

Hugs to you,
Starr

I am not sure they are really angels but I do know horses & dogs bring joy & comfort to many.

Gosh it is Friday already. Yesterday afternoon my internet went out. I sure have gotten too use to being connected to the TV. I got out a stack of magazines & it was a nice change. There are many fish fries in my area so I may go for fish tonight.

Starr... I like my pizza crust to be thin, too. Now as far as movies go I tend to stay away from the big THRILL movies. I watched an older movie called THE APOSTLE this week. It was pretty good.

We have some new members to this team so looking forward to getting to know them.

Hi there Karen.

That's a good question....where do all those socks go!

Your bowl of Italian soup, salad and one slice of pizza sounds. If I am going to eat pizza, which I don't often (not my favorite food), I like the thin crust. If it is regular crust, I tend to pick all of the toppings off. I just don't care for all of that thick crust.

Yesterday my eldest DD was here early in the morning for us to work on our Easter ceramics. She is just about done with hers, but I still have along way to go on mine. A LOT of detail work. Wish I had thought about that before buying it, especially with Easter being just around the corner. Once I am finished paining it, I still have to take it to be fired for the last time. Which takes about a week. Well, it is what it is. If I get it done in time, great. If not, I will use it next Easter.

At lunch time we went to a local cafe' for lunch. Both of us had eggs, bacon, sliced tomato, biscuits & white gravy. It was really yummy. Probably more so because I had not eaten anything since the evening before.

Then we stopped at the grocery store to get some grapes and a very small batch of chocolate fudge. Each week one of us ladies brings a snack for everyone to eat at bible study. It was my eldest DD's turn this week. I pigged out on the grapes, they were so large & sweet.

Next we went to her house to drop her dogs off, she brings them with her when she comes to my house, as they like to go see grandma.

Then off to our friends house for bible study (and a little bit of music). My DD plays the auto harp and our friend plays the guitar. So all of us sang. That was nice. Last week the other lady of our group decided that she didn't want to do it any more. So we are down one lady. But the house that we had our study at yesterday was one of the other ladies homes, and she takes full time care of her 86 year old mother who has dementia. When we were thru with the bible study and DD & I were getting ready to leave, the mom stated how much she really enjoyed having us and that she hoped we would come back. I know that her DD told her that it is weekly bible study, but because of the dementia she doe not remember. Which is OK, because when we come back next week, sue will be exceed to see us. (I said it's OK, I DON'T mean that it is OK that dementia). My mom was her age when she passed away, and she had dementia too. So, I kind of feel a bit of a bond to her. If that makes any sense.

When I got back home, I worked on my ceramic piece for awhile. Usually I only work on it when my DD is her, as she likes for us to do it together. But, I'd like to have the piece done by Easter. So I am putting extra work into it.

Last night I watched a movie on Netfilx about the pilot who murdered 3 women, at different times. He had taken different items from them, i piece of hair, a item of clothing, a doll (one of them was pregnant) and a cell phone. All the stuff was packed in a duffel bag in the cargo hold below the plane. So when they (there about 30 passengers) were in the air people started freaking out because they were seeing shadows, feeling breeze go over their arms & legs, feel their hair being moved around, saw the word murder on the outside of the plane windows, reflections of the "ghosts of the women" in the bathroom mirror, and the women standing on the wings of the plane. In the end the air Marshall,, who was on the plane, 3 other men & 2 ladies figured out what was going on (after a LOT of drama) and they confronted the pilot. They had to threaten his life to tell them what he had done. The ghosts were haunting the plane because of what the pilot had done to them. So the air Marshall hand cuffed the pilot and the co-pilot landed the plane. In the end (somehow the plane had an electrical problem so the landing gear was not working) the co-pilot did a great job of landing with landing gear, no body got hurt. But because of no landing gear, which meant no breaks, the plane finally stopped after skidding & crashing into the middle of the terminal. Amazingly, the plane missed hitting anyone who was in the crowded terminal. Anyway, I thought was a good movie. I like thrillers like that.

OK, gotta go get me some lunch.

Hugs to all

Where do those socks go?

It is a nice March day. I got my groceries yesterday & still have some to put away. I probably should not try to get a months supply in one day.

My prayers are with all those sick with the virus & especially care facility residents & staff.

STARR... I had a bowl of Italian soup & a big chef salad. I took most of my salad home & enjoyed it yesterday. I did have a piece of my sons pizza. It was thin crust & sat right in front of me. I could not resist. LOL
