Boy kitty has been around hasn't he. I feel so bad for some animals that are moved from shelter to shelter and for the most part have to live in a cage with little interaction with others. That is one thing I really like about Faithful Friend Shelter. They have as I mentioned a whole FIV sections that has all kinds of great things for the cats. If there is a cat that has been there a while they usually will try and take them out of the cages doing the day so they can roam around and interact with the workers and other cats. I dogs there have very large enclosure's and they always take them out at least twice a day for a good walk and play ball with them or what not. I have a good friend that volunteers there feeding them and cleaning up their pens. I cannot do that or I would bring half of them home!

You are wonderful to take on a kitty with FIV. Must be hard emotionally. God bless you for being so selfless.

Right now I think she's just adjusting to being in a new place, again. We adopted her from the shelter in our town, which got her from a shelter/rescue about 40 minutes away. I don't know where that place got her from. So, I think she just needs to get used to the fact that this is her forever home. She still gets a bit skittish, but that is to be expected.

Her favorite toy is a wand that has a long piece of felt attached to it with a long string. She's jumped up on a counter a couple times to get it and play with it. For dry food, we're feeding her Blue Buffalo Duck and Potato, for wet food, we're feeding her a few different Blue Buffalo foods - chicken, turkey and potato, duck and potato, fish. She seems to like it.
Actually, my profile picture is of my first cat, Smokey. I'll get more pics and post them.

What is the hardest adjustment for your newest fur child? What are you feeding her? Does she have a special toy? Keep the pics coming!! Hugs to you both, Pat

Thank You so much! We are so happy to have her.
FIV, feline immunodeficiency virus, is the feline version of HIV. She doesn't need any medication, but has to be an "only cat"' or be with another FIV+ cat. So, we could adopt onlY another FIV+ cat. Right now we are just helping her get adjusted to her forever home. She really loves to be with us!
We are thrilled!

Patricia, I gave her some nice ear rubs from you!

Congratulations Salty. May you have many great times together. emoticon

I hate to admit my ignorance. What is FIV?

Salty, great seeing you on and sharing your newest cat child! What a sweet name. Bless you for taking a FIV cat that not all can accept if they have other cats. One of our local Faithful Friends has a whole section of FIV cats so they can interact with each other and have their own large enclosed area with lots of cat condo's, cool climbing things and all. Gracie wanted to leave her mark when she threw up on your rug! lol. Our Max will do that when he has eaten too much. I love you mentioning you would bleed chocolate , my husband bleeds peanut butter! Hope to hear more about your Gracie and about you! Have a super weekend!

We adopted a cat from our local shelter on Monday. Her name is Gracie and she's part Korat part short-hair. And, she's FIV positive, just like our Smokey was. We lost Smokey on December 3 of last year; we still miss him. But Gracie has been wonderful. In fact, she threw up on a small rug this afternoon! Oh well, cats will do that.
