Took a Diabetes Self Management Program given by Healthy Delaware, hosted by senior center in my city. Learned a lot of tips and tricks for meal planning, meal prep, eating mindfully, and exercise. Hoping that these will help me live a better life with diabetes.

One of my biggest takeaway's was that I needed to keep hydrated in order to stave off hunger and make my finger sticks less an ordeal.

I am going to take a similar program for Chronic Pain.

New nurse coach said to walk after your biggest meal consumed. I have been trying to do that even in very cold temperatures at night. My scores seem to respond to this.

Just joined hubby is pre-diabetic and I go in spurts being pre-diabetic. Getting on a healthy eating lifestyle so we both can stay off of medication. Goals, exercise 5-6 times a week, 20-20 minutes depending if ST or cardio. Stay within a healthy calorie range, watch sodium, sugar and cholesterol amounts.

For me, it's eating healthier. I was never much on sweets, but I ate a lot of junk despite that. So now I'm eating more vegetables and fruit. Less salty, crunchy stuff. Less cheese and dips and all those other luscious yummies.

I hardly ever eat fast food anymore, but when I do eat it, it's always something as low sodium and healthy as I can get it. Ask me about the lowest sodium menu choices at most fast food joints. I can probably tell you. Sadly, I have had to eliminate Whataburger from my diet entirely. They are the worst about sodium bombing their food. Sonic isn't too far behind, but I do get a diet cherry limeade periodically. Not so much now that summer is over, but still the occasional treat. All fried chicken places are out.

It's paid off to eat healthier. I've lost over 40 pounds since my diagnosis right before 4th of July, and my A1C dropped like a rock from 14.1% to 6.6% within three months. So it's been worth it.

But every now and then, I would kill to have a Honey Barbecue Chicken sandwich with onion rings and Spicy Ketchup at Whataburger. emoticon

I started taking turmeric, cinnamon and chromium as my Mom was dying of complications of diabetes. A friend told me that combination would help lower my blood sugar. It did reduce my A1C quite a bit within a year. I still work closely with my doctor and still take the 3 daily. I also hired an online weight loss coach and she helped me drop 27 lbs in 2 and half months. Shes awesome! She calls herself the macronazi

I am taking my Blood Sugar every morning...in addition to tracking my food & adding foods not listed in SP data base, also tracking steps, sleep & active minutes...!

More exercise, new dietary changes. Have found some online meal plans that give me good ideas for meals which is helpful.
