Thank you so much Marilyn for replying to my post! I appreciate it! I finally got my book a few days ago and raced through it!

Oh, that is very helpful to know that one can stay with the private group for as long as you want.

For the time being I have decided on these steps:
no sugar (hadn't been eating any since end of February already), no flour, eat 4 times per day and measure my food (so I won't weigh everything but I do stick to set amounts of food, be it that they are more than the BLE program says). I intend to do this for 8 weeks and then evaluate.

I stopped eating flour 10 days ago. So far so good! I lost about 2 lbs.

Wishing you a wonderful sunday!

@WHITE-GREEN - you are doing good with the changes you have made. As for the bootcamp - I used the book for 2 months and lost 25 pounds then stalled and so i thought i would take a boot camp. It lasts for 10 weeks - and the modules you get with it you get to keep so you can use them over and over which is good as they are very helpful. Also when you do a bootcamp they put you onto a private facebook group with others that are starting the bootcamp with some that have done it for some time. You can stay with that private group for as long as you want - so after the bootcamp it is still available for you - I really like mine and have met a lot of wonderful and helpful people on it. As for the cost it is expensive but you can apply for a scholarship and can it is down to around $90 I believe. If you are struggling it would be a good help.

As for the sugar and flour = those are 2 foods (if you can call them foods) that are difficult to give up as they are in so much we eat. For sugar, you need to read all labels - if any form of sugar is listed in the 1st 3 ingredients they say not to have it. That eliminates a lot of food but looking on the flip side there is still a huge amount of food out there. The only sugar would might notice is in the fruit you have - one at breakfast and one at lunch. Believe they say you should weigh it and it should weigh no more than 6 oz.

As for flour - that means 'bread', 'pasta' is out. Only bread that I know that is approved with this program is Ezekiel and 1 slice is all you get when in the weight loss stage. And when they say no flour that is what they mean - no flour - no almond flour, no rice flour and so on.

I thought it was somewhat 'strict' but the reasoning is explained in the book. And I must say when I do not have sugar or flour i feel so much better but once i have some i get ill again. Just 2 slices of bread does me in - joints ache, acid reflux returns, and many other issues flair up. You will find that after you give it up completely you will feel the difference.

Hope you get your book soon - it is a good reference for working the program. If you need recipes there is a website called Katies Kitchen that has many that fit the program.

Any other questions please just ask - and the official group you belong to on facebook is also a good resource for answers - just remember that it is a public group so whatever you post can be read by any one that happens to come across that group.

Take care

Thank you so much MADAMEJEANNE and MARILYN for your answers! I really appreciate it.

I have now joined the public official facebook group and also an unofficial group in my country (The Netherlands).
Still eagerly waiting for my book to arrive!

I am a (near-)vegan so I hope that I can figure out the program with regard to proteins. I eat beans / legumes, nuts and seeds and tofu for protein (beside vegetables).
With regard to the fruit; is that 6 oz per meal or per DAY?

I stopped eating refined sugar and cocoa in February, have been avoiding all sugary foods like cake and chocolate etcetera for over 70 days now. But I have a feeling that it's not enough, as I still get cravings and urges to overeat. I have been struggling with binge eating for about 10 years now and I really hope that maybe cutting out flour and maybe other foods too will help me to overcome that drive to eat eat eat... but I have to say I am also worried / fearful because I don 't know if I can do it.

So if one joins the bootcamp the support lasts for 10 weeks? That seems like a LOT of money to me for such a relatively short period of time... I had hoped that maybe one could continue to use forums or stay in some network also after those 8 (or 10?) weeks of the boot camp are over.
I keep getting emails that urge me to join the bootcamp but I really first want to take in the information in the book.

I have been doing the BLE since 1/1/20 just using the book and Facebook support groups and recipes. I have lost 14.5 lbs of weight I was stuck at for two years.
My husband has lost 33lbs. My daughter in law started in October and is at her goal weight. She has ms but has been very successful. Her mom who just turned 60 lost 37 lbs since October and has been on maintenance a few weeks.
It works!! I only have 10 more lbs to lose and some people take longer to get complete victory over sugar. Me I guess. You do need to read the book and follow the plan to lose. Boot camp isnít necessary.

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me all ye that are heavy laden and I will give you rest unto your soul.

I will attempt to answer your questions.

1) is the program as truly as good as it sounds? Personally I think it is. I do not consider it a 'diet' but a lifestyle change from eating unhealthy to eating healthy

2) The basis of the weight loss plan is this (a) 3 meals a day (b) no sugar (c) no flour (d) weigh all food (e) write down the night before your meals for the next day.

The book goes into detail why no sugar and no flour - these 2 'foods' do a number on our brain. The best thing I can tell you is to just read the book.

The meals are outlined as follows
Breakfast
1 grain (1 oz cereal is an example OR 1 slice of Ezekiel bread)
1 protein (if you have cereal your milk would be your protein
1 fruit

Lunch
1 protein
1 fruit (weigh your fruit as it should not be over 6 oz)
Vegetables (total vegtables for the day is 20 oz and most people will have 10 oz at lunch)

Supper
1 protein
Vegetable (the other 10 oz)

Again the book goes into more detail listing foods and quantities - if you are having for instance chicken for your protein it would be 4 oz.

Also if you have a facebook account there is an Bright Line Eating Official Facebook group - it is a public group so any one can join and read what every is posted - good start if you are wanting a lot of information.

Personally I am on a number of facebook accounts for this program - if you go to Bright Line Eating website it gives you somewhat of an outline of the program.

I started the program just from using the book, then I did what is called 'Boot Camp' (get information on the website or the facebook group about this) and from the book camp I am now onto a further group called Bright Lifers which gives a lot of support for a year where boot camp is for 10 weeks.

Again, try doing what you can with what I mentioned re the 3 meals ect and then read the book and look for the website for bright line eating.

Am here for any help you might want - it is a great program and I am making good progress in my weight loss journey by following it

Hello, I am new to this team. I ordered the book 'Bright Lines Eating', but it will take at least another two weeks, maybe more, to get it, I live in Europe and the book apparently has to be ordered from abroad. I am very curious and I have many questions!
I did watch the food freedom video's by Susan Peirce Thompson and some of her vlogs.

Of course I wonder if the program is truly as good as it sounds? Because it sounds very promising! (While I write this I realize full well that the results probably ask for quite a lot of work and dedication).

Other questions that I have:
Sugar and flour are mentioned as foods to cut out, but what about things like cheese, and cocoa? I find that I feel addicted to those foods, too....

How do you know how much and which foods to eat? We are supposed to weigh our food but how? Does the book give clarity about that?

If you have the book: do you feel it 's doable to learn to practice the Bright Lines just using the book? Or would it be necessary to join the bootcamp? (Which to me would be quite an investment to be honest).

For those who have worked this program; I'd love to hear your experiences and also, how hard (or easy) you found it to stick to the Bright Lines....?
