Ann, Cute little guy. Sorry about the foster baby. I hope the siblings all got a good home together and are able to stay as a family.

CheriAnn, I am walking my dog this week and next as my husband is out of town. My back is hurting so I'm hoping he doesn't pull and try to run after rabbits and squirrels. So far he's done okay. We're supposed to get some snow Thursday, Friday and Saturday. We need the moisture. It's getting too dry and there have been so many fires.

Prayers for all asked and unasked. Liz

Ann~ That is so hard. Praying for both you and your son and DIL....

It was good to see my family on Easter.....but sad to see how many have to drink so much at these family gatherings. My sister had an " adult easter egg hunt" where they were supposed to match numbers on the bottom on pop cans and small bottles of liquor. Then you could pick a lottery ticket off the board when you found both of the numbered items that matched your number pick. They then proceeded to drink all of these drinks.......I worry about some of them a lot. Otherwise it was a great day!

Been consistently walking the dog and/or doing workouts for about a week. Feels good. My dog is getting so used to walking he cries when I don't take him in the morning! Hopefully I can keep this up while working the latter part of this week. I just need to get up earlier, but that is difficult with my thyroid meds too low. emoticon

Had to get up early today to get DH's car into the repair shop. They won't be able to work on it until tomorrow. I might not be able to get the dog out tomorrow if I take him to work( a half hour drive) and then go straight to work...........we will see what happens-maybe I can manage something after work but before I pick him up if I can get out of work on time.

Well, I had better get a few things done and get ready for my physical therapy!

Hi ladies. I hope all of you were able to celebrate the joy of knowing that our Lord is risen yesterday.

My weekend was a good one. Saturday I went for a walk around a local park, watched the people having fun and took in the fresh air. The weather was perfect, sunny and about 70.

Sunday I went to Easter service with my oldest son and dil at their church. Afterward we had lunch at Sizzler's. I stuck with the salad bar and a bowl of soup, stayed away from the pasta dishes and fried foods. I did indulge in a small portion of bread pudding for desert though. It was a nice time to talk about all that has happened within the past few weeks. My son and dil are still recovering from the loss of the foster baby they had. They are doing well but still find it hard to accept. They have decided to wait until May before going back on the availability list.

Hope everyone had a Happy Easter!

Thanks CheriAnn, It's nice to have someone say something good to me instead of I'm hopeless like my old doctor. She reminded me of my mother and just made me feel horrible. I really like the nurse practitioner I see now.

I got a call from the NP about my blood work. She said everything looked good. Without medication I was able to bring my A1C down from 8.5 to 7.7 in three months. My liver enzymes went from the mid 40's to 18, respectively. She said she is proud of me losing weight, (I was 225 when I saw her in January and I'm 211 now), she said she is proud of what I am doing and to keep up the good work. She decided since I have had problems with the diabetic medications to let me go another 3 months and see if I can bring my A1C down more. I asked her to send the blood test results to the cardiologist and to let him know that she took me off of the statin because of the joint pain. That has really let up a lot and I'm feeling a lot better. Not sure how he is going to react that is why I told her to tell him. All I need now is the Spine center to call me about an appointment with the doctor there to go over my MRI and make sure nothing was missed and for the physical therapy place to call and set things up. If I don't hear from them I will call. I need to use the Wellness Package my daughter got me for Christmas. I figure with my husband going out of town for 2 weeks I'll try then. Then I want to make an appointment with my chiropractor. The numbness is bothering me and the MRI shows it is from the problems in my spine. So it would be nice to get that under control. I hope the physical therapy will help too. Liz

I had my mammogram and ultrasound today. The radiologist came in and said it was benign. Just a bruise with blood in it under the skin from the large bruise I had gotten. She was asking how I hurt myself. I said I don't know. I always get bruises and most of the time don't realize it until I see them. I told her I am one Plavix and aspirin. So one thing down. They only checked the one breast and said I need to come back in September for my regular mammogram. Liz

Jean ~ Good to see you posting!

Helen ~ I hope you are still doing well in your new abode.

Liz~ Keeping you in my prayers as well as everyone else.

Therapy was more pampering today than usual --since I was sore from Tuesday's exercise he did a lot more massage and stretching than exercise! WooHoo!

I am going to my sister's for Easter and for a change, my DH will be joining me! He has had to work in the past. She lives an hours drive away so it is a hassle. My DD's half sister is trying to figure out how she can come as well! I am so glad that my daughter now has her sister in her life. This girls mother is deceased and her father could not care less to spend time with her. I may have inherited another daughter!! This is fine with me, even though a bit akward. Her mother was "the other woman" in my first marriage. I don't think she realizes that...Anyway she is a sweetheart and I am glad she is in my daughter's life.

I have off until Wed of next week as the other secretary is working Monday since she will be off work to do some work in Guatemala in a school there. It will be like a mini-vacation for me!

sorry I have been MIA - we traveled to my sil funeral up north, the Eulogy I gave was wonderful and honored her. I had family from Nevada here - loved having them visit... you would never have known I had 5 kids in my house and 2 extra adults ... they were awesome!! Talking to both of my nieces about faith, God, the Love of Jesus - was/is very rewarding.

Little Lucy is doing very well! Almost all of her tubes are now gone and still is being watched... while there was talk of an early release due to her few "scary" set backs she is doing great! God is so GOOD!

Thank you all for your prayers.
Keeping all in prayer.

GYN called today, said since I still have a small lump she wants me to have a mammogram & ultrasound. Wasn't due til September. My appointment is this Friday. MRI results came back. I have multilevel thoracic spondylosis with disc bulge or herniation. Being sent for physical therapy & to see a spine doctor. Joint pain started last week.Told to go off of statin. Ordered lots of blood work, including ANA for the RA. GI doc wants to do a test to see how much pressure in is in esophagus & how much acid is coming up. My primary care took the names of my cardiologist, pulmonologist, GI & GYN docs to send them all reports. I have a feeling when Bob goes out of town next week for 2 weeks, I will be getting lots of phone calls from doctors. When I saw my primary care I asked did you get any MRI results. She laughed and said yes. She had just gotten them this morning and wondered why I had that done. I told her my GI doctor said has anyone ever ordered an MRI of your spine because of the pain I've been having. So I guess it was good to find out where some of my pain was from. I'll be waiting on the blood work to come back now and the results of the mammogram and ultrasound. We talked about my A1C. It had gone up to 8.5 in January. She thought maybe from all of the pain I've been in. I told her I bought an at home kit and used it last week and got 7.8 and wanted to see how reliable those things really are. She said if it is going down then she'll check it again in 3 months. I've had problems with the diabetic medications. I hope it went down and continues to go down. She was thrilled with my weight loss. I told her that started after the cardiologist sent me to the ER and started running all of his tests. Liz

Little Leah is no longer with my son and dil. A home became available for her and her 2 brothers so she was taken there this morning. The short time God allowed her to be with our family was a blessing. I will miss her. Please pray for Leah's protection and for a permanent home for her and her siblings.

Helen--I am so sorry to hear about Ken. My condolences to you and your family.
I am so tired all the time. I have physical therapy twice a week for my neck and back, work three days a week, and there has been a lot going on. Baby and wedding showers to attend, my house is a mess, no energy to keep up with what needs to be done. I hope that when the blood work is done in a few weeks that they increase my thyroid meds again. DH is on shift this week still so am working around his schedule. Hoping next week I can get a bit caught up when I get my Thu and Fri back. I am usually home those days and can houseclean and get errands done. When he is home he plans the day....the other secretary was off last week and I worked for her. That will happen again in a couple weeks....those weeks really wear me out.
I just got all the tax prep paperwork organized and got that done! Whew! Things are happening too fast for me to keep up lately it seems!

Jean, Glad to hear about Lucy. Will keep her and her family in my prayers.

Ann, Cute little boy.

I went to my GYN today about the lump in my breast. It is much smaller than when I called for an appointment. I told her I had a huge bruise on my breast and wondered if it was a hematoma. I told her I had one on my leg too and it developed a lump. She said she is pretty sure it is a hematoma, especially since it has gotten a lot smaller. She could still see the outline of the bruise. She wants me to call her in a week and if it hasn't gotten any smaller or is still there she will order some tests and a mammogram. I'm not due until September so I can only get one early through her. Prayers if goes away completely. We had a really bad snowstorm last night and this morning. I haven't driven in the snow in a long time. I heard the highway I take into town was closed, then it reopened, then it closed again because of accidents. I decided when it reopened I'd leave early for my appointment just in case. Roads coming home were fine.

Enjoy your week. Prayers being lifted up for all asked and unasked. Liz

Update on Lucy - Lucy is continuing to heal well. She had a few scary moments/hours yesterday, but as she recovers from heart surgery she is surrounded by God's GRACE.
They are at Children's hospital in Boston. Lucy has been taken off more and more of her leads, feeds, and medicines each day. Her oxygen levels are almost normal - as she is on very little now.

Thank you team for praying for Lucy and her family.

I continually think of you and pray often.
God Bless you!

Still waiting for Untied Healthcare to approve my MRI. My friend is mad. She said who are they to question the doctor. Oh well. I've had them question things before and then they relented. We'll see what happens. Liz

Ann, Glad to hear from you. I'm glad you are enjoying your retirement and not regreting leaving. You went through a lot with your job.

Congratulations on your new grandson. He sounds like a handful.

Sorry about your friend Dora. I pray she will be able to handle things. She is still looking for something else? Sorry to hear about the treatment and firing of the teacher. No matter what a person is like they should be given respect and dignity. It shows them the true Christian faith.

So sad about the foster child. No family and then to be abused by someone else. Hopefully she is young enough to not have it affect her. Sometimes a personality detachment occurs when they don't have positive influence in their lives. Too bad you Son and his wife can't take all the children to keep the family together.

Happy Birthday to all and hope you all have a good time and good company.

Drop in more often. Sounds like you are a very busy lady. Liz

Once again it has been far too long since I last posted. Months I am sure. I do think about all of you often but find myself becoming busy with other things and then forget to visit. Sorry!

In the last 6 months or so a lot has happened.

I think I posted that I retired at the end of October last year and have not regretted it for a moment. I had to wait until December to apply for Social Security and then it took SS a month to respond to my application. When they finally did respond, it was determined that it would be beneficial to me to apply for spousal benefits rather than applying for my own benefits. It means less money per month but it allows my benefits to grow giving me a lot more if I wait until I am 70 to take them. That's only 4 years and the amount I am getting now is not that much less than what I was making while working. I can manage.

Another topic I don't remember if I posted about is the birth of my first grandchild. He was born November 17, 2016. He is now 4 months old and weighs 20 already. Hunter is very active, wanting to be sitting up or standing (supported) most of the time he is awake. He has been grabbing toys to chew on for the last month. Normally babies do that around 4 to 5 months. I really thinking he is going to be crawling soon and walking before he is a year old.

My friend Dora remained at the daycare center two months after I left but it was very stressful. She was accused of hitting another teacher, of not doing her job and of being disrespectful towards the assistant director. Nome of it was true. She was asked to sign a letter stating that she had done all of the above or lose her job. She refused and they didn't fire her. The assistant director became so nasty that during one meeting (at the beginning of December) with director, assistant director and Dora, the assistant director began swearing, attacking Dora verbally and demanded that Dora be fired immediately. That was not done but the director decided that weekly meetings were needed to re-establish peace between Dora and the assistant director. The meetings accomplished nothing. In the meantime, Dora had been submitting applications at other daycare centers and preschools in the area. She left Living Way in the middle of February and started a new job a week later at the daycare center attached to JPL. She hoped that the stress level would be less working in a new place but found she is still dealing with a lot of stress but a of a different kind. This center is secular which makes it difficult for Dora as she has only worked in church affiliated centers for over 30 years. Much of the staff at this new center are gay or lesbian and openly talk about their relations. This goes completely against Dora's beliefs but she keeps her mouth shut. Another stress is that the kids pretty much do whatever they want and the teachers are allowed to correct them. An example of this is if a 3 year old wants to go outside wearing only her underwear she/he can. Two little ones did this recently when it was raining. Dora is not happy but feels she has to stick with it because she has no other income. Please pray for her in this situation.

Something else concerning Living way is what recently happened with the Lead teacher who was so difficult in the nursery. Last week she and another teacher were involved in a really bad conflict. The lead teacher was sent home to cool off and told to return the next day. In the meantime, the other teacher involved demanded that the lead teacher be fired or she was quitting. The next day the lead teacher did return, worked half a day, clocked out for lunch and was called into the director's office where she was told she was fired. I know that she has done many things that justify being fired but I really feel this could have been handled better. The way this was done completely embarrassed and humiliated her. The entire staff knew she was going to be fired before she did yet she was allowed to work half a day before she was informed of her termination.

I have an update on my oldest son and dil's foster care process. They were finally certified the end of February and this week got a 6 month old baby girl. I met her last Wednesday. She is such a sweet baby, easy going. She had been in another foster home until Monday night when, for some reason, she was taken to the hospital. Social Services removed her from that foster home because of suspected abuse. The next morning my son and dil got a call asking if they wanted to take her. Of course they did. She has bruising on her face, a blood clot in her left eye and scratches or abrasions just below her neck. A court hearing was set to determine what would happen to her now. That hearing occurred last Thursday morning but my son and dil will probably not hear the results for several days. There are siblings involved. Usually the courts want to keep siblings together if at all possible. My son and dil don't want to take older children and they don't have the room for them. Please keep this situation in prayer also.

Sunday will be a busy day for me. I will be going to a brunch to celebrate the birthdays of my youngest son and that of his wife also. Brittany's birthday is today and Eric's is Monday. My oldest son and wife will be taking me to the brunch. It will be a big gathering as many family members and several of their friends will be there. I will get to see my grandson and my foster granddaughter also. Should be a fun day!

Sorry this post is so long. If you have read through this entire novelette...God bless you! I need to show up here more often!

Ann

Hugs to you all... so many changes and loss in this world for each of us. So thankful for our hope. A song we sang as I was growing up comes to mind in times like these: My Lord knows the way through the wilderness, all I have to do is follow. (Repeat) Strength for the day is mine all way and all my needs for tomorrow, My Lord knows the way through the wilderness. All I have to do is follow. Keep praying for the baby in heart surgery and her family: guidance for the doctor's hands and choices; comfort for the baby; and encouragement and strength for the family as they wait for the outcome.

The DNA of joy is thankfulness

Nana-Jean, Thank you so very much for your prayers and support and your continuing prayers! Ken is most definitely with the Lord! We will be together again when God takes me home.

I have been blessed with so many blessings, I can not count them all! I continue to thank God for everything every day. Without God in my life, I don't think I could go on. He continues to walk with me every step of every day!

Praise the Lord!!! He is GREAT!!!

Oh Helen, I am so sorry for the passing of Ken, but I know he is with the Lord.

May God bless you and your family with much grace (and I know He is by your post). (I cried all the way through it!)

I will keep you all in my prayers.

Liz, prayers for you. Prayers for all spoken and unspoken needs, wants and issues of our team.

Thank you for all your prayers! Things have been crazy here for a while. I was taking Ken to the cancer center in Philadelphia every couple weeks after he broke his hip in the spring where they discovered he had lung cancer which had metastasized to his bones. That's why his hip broke so easily. They did radiation on both hips and thighs and put him on Iressa for the lung cancer. He told me when we left there last month that he would not be going back because he didn't think what they were doing was helping him at all.

He lost taste for everything in the food department and nothing tasted good to him anymore. He started losing weight and was down to 165 pounds. For the last two months, he was unable to walk or sit in any chair except for his recliner but he was unable to get out of it without help. Then he fell out of the recliner and I had to call friends to get him back into it.

On March 6, his urine was the color of Coca Cola! I call my nurse friend,Debbie, who came down immediately. She took one look at him and said he needs to go to the ER, he is in complete kidney failure! I called the ambulance who came right away. At that point Ken told me he would not be coming back home and that he wanted me to sell our house and get out of Greene County. I told him I would. The next day I had to start infusions of iron and something to increase my red blood cells (anacept, I think). I was exhausted from not sleeping for several days while taking care of Ken even though I didn't realize it.

The ambulance took him straight to Washington hospital. I had to go by way of the drug store to pick up my prescriptions. When I arrived at the hospital about 20 minutes after the ambulance, they already had him in the ICU. The doctor said his progress did not look good at all. I said he didn't want any life saving measures done and he was a DNR, DNI but keep him pain free with no suffering. Debbie told the doctor that she heard him tell me that and that it was in God 's hands now. His blood pressure was so low they couldn't get a reading on him. To do blood work, they put a catheter in an artery in his neck. Horrifying!!!

He knew what he didn't want done after dealing with his mom several years ago before she died. It was extremely difficult for me to tell them that, but I knew I had to. I loved him enough to follow his wishes and knew if God was taking him home that I had to let him go. We prayed together while the doctor and nurses ran around trying to decide what to do. He was totally sepsis and they could do nothing to change it. I said please just keep him comfortable and leave him to God. Don't make him suffer any more, he has suffered enough already.

Against my wishes they actually Life Flighted him to Pittsburgh because they said he needed to be in an infectious decease center. I kept telling them that he was a DNR and DNI patient. The life flight gentlemen asked why they were life flighting him to Pittsburgh. I told them I had no idea, they would have to ask his doctor. They ended up taking him anyway.

After getting to UPMC, they were getting ready to operate on him when I called them to check on him. By that time I was very upset and said no, absolutely no surgery! Just keep him comfortable and leave him alone,

If God plans are to take him home, them let him go with God. They actually put Ken on the phone with me and he asked me to keep praying for him, he didn't want to leave me alone. I prayed and told him how much I love him...said God speed, my dearest love. He said please get out of Clarksville and I promised him I would. He passed into Gods kingdom at 9:17 a.m. on March 7 taking a very large portion of my heart with him.

My sister and brother-in-law were here from Ohio. They took me from the hospital to my friend, Jan's house in Waynesburg. I made all the arrangements from there. Then Richelle and Joe came and picked me up and brought me home to stay with them. They fixed a mother-in-law suite in their finished basement for me. Liam and Joe put his old bed together for me complete with a sofa, large screen tv, bathroom and small refrigerator. So I have a very comfortable suite to live in until I decide what I want to do and where I want to live. They also sold everything in the house worth anything and took the rest to the dump. They sold the house to our nephew who remodeled it and rented it to my youngest brother, who moved into it today. I told them to sell our boat and motor home, which they did and got great deals on everything. God bless them for taking care of it all.

I started dialysis the next day. They couldn't use my fistula yet so they had to operate and put a catheter in the right side of my chest just under my collarbone which is being used three times a week. It is working very well but is very prone to infections. The catheter goes directly into my heart. Please pray that I can soon switch over to the fistula preferably before I get an infection.

Everything is finally coming together and calming down for me. I am just very thankful that the kids want me to stay here as long as possible or as long as I need/want to. Liam and Nathan love having "Chickie" (Liam's name for me) here with them. Liam comes down and plays every morning when he gets up. What a great way to start the day...waking up to his smiling face and making memories with my grandsons! I will probably get an apartment close to them down the road sometime in the future, when and if they get tired of me. : ). If not, I will just stay with them.

I received permission from my doctor to drive again. On Friday afternoon, they are taking me
to get my Sport Trac and bringing it home. God is GREAT!!!

In the meantime, I keep praying and thanking God for his many blessings.

I have my appointment with the GYN next week on Tuesday about the lump in my breast. It seems to be a little bit smaller so I'm thinking it was a hemotoma from the large bruise I had. I will still get it checked out.

My husband has been driving my SUV because we finally have been getting snow. He is working from home today. I went to go to the post office and it wouldn't start. It looks like a dead battery. He gets the seat belt stuck in the door because he tangles it up so it won't retract back and I think and the door wasn't shut. We had the starter replaced not long ago so I'm hoping it's just the dead battery. I have a doctor appointment next week on Tuesday and he goes to work. He could take his truck which is also 4 wheel drive but the SUV is the only one I could take. His little car doesn't run well in the snow. So please say a prayer that this is all it is. We can't afford new cars and to take him to work so I could have the truck would be a real pain. He works 50 miles one way from home with no bus service and then my doctors appointments is at 11:30 on the complete other side of town. He also has to be to work by 5:45 am. I get so mad at him for not shutting the door. The radio won't come on but the gauge lights come on and he also had the rear windshield wiper still on. It ran but barely. The lights came on but were dim. Boy I hope its just the battery. It has 285,000 miles on it and it's a 1995. Liz

Pray request. I found a new lump about the size of a large marble in my breast. I had a mammogram last year in September and only the large lipoma was there so this is new. I was reading pain between the shoulder blades can be caused by breast cancer. I've had the pain between my shoulder blades and pain in my breast for a while now. Pray I can get in to see the doctor quickly, the weather is good, (we're expecting a foot of snow starting tonight thru Friday), and I told my husband this morning about it and he didn't say a word and left in a hurry. He made me think another doctor visit. I also talked the the nurse at the GI's office yesterday. I told her about the medication causing me problems with my heart and she was going to leave him a message. She had called to make an appointment with me to see him next week to talk about how the medication was doing. I don't know what I will hear from him. I think I want to get the lump looked at first and worry about the ongoing GI problems later. I've had them for years so they aren't going anywhere. Saw my mom yesterday for her birthday. She will be 89 on Saturday. I figure since the rest of the family lives down there they will be doing something with her. Thanks for the prayers. Liz

Jean, so sorry to hear that the flu bug has been so pesky. Praying for you and the team.

Today was my daughter's 4th (and last!) visit to the ophthalmologist. She has healed up nicely and will only have a slight scar on the eyelid as a reminder.

CheriAnn, Hope that new med works out for you.

I'm dealing with the right flank pain again. I may try the muscle relaxers I still have. The new medication my GI doctor had me on did not work out well. I had to stop taking it. It gave me some side effects that I could not deal with. His nurse will be calling back to see how things are going. I think I take too many meds. I need to lose the weight and find something that works for me.
